hi mom ik you're a big fan of cinema and im lookign for new movies to watch, can u share your top 4? thank uuu
Oh dear, you're killing me.
Phantom of the Paradise - Brian de Palma (1974), a musical and the lovechild of the myth of Faust, the Phantom of the Opera, and the Shining (the soundtrack is to die for).
La Folie des Grandeurs - Gérard Oury (1971), an adaptation from a play (by the author of les Mis) about politics, the Court of Spain, love, greed - I've been in love with the lackey my whole life.
The Seventh Seal - Ingmar Bergman (1957), the story of a medieval soldier playing chess against Death to save his life (and a great source of relief when my head was playing against me).
The 101 Dalmatians - Stephen Herek (1996), not quite auteur cinema but my favourite comfort movie, at first a great reminder of how peaceful life without modern day tech was, then an amazing love story, then an investigation, a fantastic cast, perfect villains, many dogs, great music, my whole heart on a platter.
I will make a longer list and you cannot stop me:
Some like it hot - Billy Wilder (1959), where two men escape bandits by cross-dressing and joining a women's band.
Rear Window - Alfred Hitchcock (1954), where a photographer stuck at home after an accident grows suspicious of a neighbour whose wife has disappeared.
La Jetée - Chris Marker (1962), an experimental sci-fi short movie made by one of my favourite directors, about the scientific experiments done on a man to save the world, that later inspired Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys (that could also be on this list).
Anything? (Seven chances, Cops, The Cameraman) - Buster Keaton (1920s), my second favourite director and a firework on legs who was never afraid of a stunt.
The Host - Bong Joon Ho (2006), where lab waste thrown into the sea creates a monster that kidnaps a girl, forcing her good for nothing father to finally do something with his life.
Death becomes her - Robert Zemeckis (1992), where two middle-aged actresses fight for a man, get blinded by their desire for youth and cross paths with magic and murder.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Jim Sharman (1975), the meeting between a young old school couple and a group of weird creatures in a mansion (including my husband Tim Curry).
Pride and Prejudice - Joe Wright (2005), of course.
Body Snatchers - Philip Kaufman (1978), one of the four adaptations of the book and the best one in my opinion, the story of people mysteriously disappearing and returning changed and a tale about human passion.
Old boy - Park Chan-Wook (2003), the visually stunning and heartbreaking story of a man randomly kidnapped, kept somewhere for years, then released without a word.
Minority Report - Spielberg (2002), a dystopian movie about a world where the efforts of science and exploitation have put an end to criminality, at a great price.
Sleeping Beauty - Disney (1959), the most beautiful one, the only one with a composer's music, one of the best villains.
The Age of Adaline - Lee Toland Krieger (2015), the story of a woman who stopped aging and navigates the world while trying to not get caught or catch feelings.
Planet Terror - Robert Rodriguez (2007), an unserious tale of zombies, a virus, and Rose McGowan's pew pew leg.
Home alone 2 - Chris Columbus (1992), for Christmas in New York, Tim Curry, the toy store's owner, and the pigeon lady.
Electrick children - Rebecca Thomas (2012), where a Mormon teenager gets pregnant with the child of God after listening to a tape and runs away to Vegas to find the dad.
And many more I'm afraid. Hope you will like those! x

💭💭💭
Why is this going the way of a failed SpaceX launch?!? WHO ARE THEIR PEOPLE?!? WHY DON’T THEY HAVE A CELESBIAN CONCIERGE WORKING WITH THEIR PR REP?!
Also, those of us with eyeballs and experience know this timeline is fucked.
The Sherlock Homos are assembling this overlappy timeline as we speak. All I’m getting from this is that at best, they were having an emotional affair, at worst, they went to Cannes to cheat in private.

Bush, 41, and Harris, 37, went public with their blossoming love affair this week and both are currently in the process of divorcing their spouses. They said they have only been together for two weeks.
The One Tree Hill actress filed for divorce from ex Grant Hughes in early August citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ while Harris initiated a formal split from wife Ali Krieger, 38, last month.
A source with knowledge of the situation has told DailyMail.com that Krieger was blindsided by the split, with Harris telling her their marriage was over with no discussion after her return from Cannes.
The source said: ‘Apparently Ashlyn came back right after Cannes, ended their marriage and said there was nothing to even speak about regarding it. Just over.’
Video posted to Instagram by bourbon brand Johnnie Walker showing the feminist panel event on June 19 includes a section where the new couple smile and giggle together, with Bush reaching over to touch Harris as they discussed 'the impact that deep, creative partnerships can make to challenge societal systems and narratives.'
A beaming Bush is also seen telling Harris ‘love you’ during the public panel discussion.
The pair have claimed they have only been dating for two weeks, with a source telling People that there is ‘no salacious story’ behind their new relationship or impending divorces.
The insider added: 'After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago.
'Although it's new information to the public, Ashlyn and Ali's divorce began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer.
'This is so recent, and they are both beginning new chapters.'
The new couple have been spotted together repeatedly in recent weeks and were pictured together at Seattle's Lumen Field on October 6 where they watched OL Reign's final home game of the season.
OL Reign's star player is Harris' USWNT teammate Meghan Rapinoe, 38, who has played for the soccer franchise since 2013.
In the clip, which surfaced on Tuesday, Bush is seen hanging out with Harris and a group of friends.
The video shows Bush and Harris walking side-by-side onto Lumen Field after the match before enjoying a celebratory chat with Rapinoe.
In polaroid photos shared by Kari Fleischauer, an executive at LA's Angel City Football Club, the lovebirds are seen posing with their heads pressed close together for a group shot.
Weeks before their trip to Seattle, Bush and Harris enjoyed a 'cozy' double date in New York City with What Not To Wear star Stacy London and her girlfriend Cat Yezbak, according to Page Six.
An insider claimed that Bush and Harris have already been dubbed 'Bushlyn' by their friend group and that the soccer star 'snuck' into the Beacon Theater, where they watched comedian Chelsea Handler perform on Friday, September 29.
'Ashlyn snuck into the theater wearing a mask to join Stacy, Cat and Sophia,' the source told the outlet.
'It wasn't clear they were on a double date until Stacy moved over so Ashlyn could sit next to Sophia.'
It was not until 'the lights dimmed for the opening act' that Ashlyn decided to '[remove] her mask.'
Bush's surprise rebound romance with Harris comes just two months after she filed for divorce from her husband of one year Hughes.
On Tuesday, a rep for the 41-year-old told Page Six that he wants Bush to be happy. The rep said: 'Grant will always want the best for Sophia and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled.'
The divorce is the second for Bush who divorced her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray in 2006 after a union that lasted just five months.
Bush attempted to get the marriage annulled on her grounds of fraud, but her efforts were unsuccessful, and the divorce was ultimately finalized in 2006.
She then went on to date Jon Foster, her co-star on Stay Alive for a year. She also dated another One Tree Hill co-star Austin Nichols on and off for eight years.
Harris, meanwhile, had been with now-estranged wife Krieger for 13 years, with the pair meeting at a 2010 USWNT training camp.
The couple tied the knot in 2019 with Rapinoe serving as Harris's maid of honor. The pair went on to adopt two children: daughter Sloane Phillips Krieger-Harris, two; and son Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris, 15 months, in 2021 and 2022.
Harris filed for divorce from Krieger on September 19, saying their union was 'irretrievably broken.'
Krieger has yet to make a public statement about her ex-wife's new romance with Bush, but she did take to Instagram after the news broke to share a quote.
'Sleep well tonight, sis. Major shifts are happening. Things are changing. Doors are opening,' it read.

Meta has a lot at stake in the current FTC lawsuit against it. In theory a negative verdict could result in a company breakup. But CEO Mark Zuckerberg once faced an even bigger existential threat. Back in 2006, his investors and even his employees were pressuring him to sell his two-year-old startup for a quick payoff. Facebook was still a college-based social network, and several companies were interested in buying it. The most serious offer came from Yahoo, which offered a stunning $1 billion. Zuckerberg, though, believed he could grow the company into something worth much more. The pressure was tremendous, and at one point he blinked, agreeing in principle to sell. But immediately after that, a dip in Yahoo stock led its leader at the time, Terry Semel, to ask for a price adjustment. Zuckerberg seized the opportunity to shut down negotiations; Facebook would remain in his hands.
“That was by far the most stressful time in my life,” Zuckerberg told me years later. So it’s ironic to observe, through the testimony of this trial, how he treated two other sets of founders in very similar situations to him—but whom he successfully bought out.
The nub of the current FTC trial seems to hinge on how US District Court judge James Boasberg will define Meta’s market—whether it’s limited to social media or, as Meta is arguing, the broader field of “entertainment.” But much of the early testimony exhumed the details of Zuckerberg’s successful pursuit of Instagram and WhatsApp—two companies that, according to the government, are now part of Meta’s illegal monopolistic grip on social media. (The trial also invoked the case of Snap, which resisted Zuckerberg’s $6 billion offer and had to deal with Facebook copying its products.) Legalities aside, the way these companies were upended by a Zuckerberg offer made the first few days of this case a dramatic and instructive study of acquisition dynamics between small and big business.
Though almost all of these narratives have been covered at length over the years—I documented them pretty thoroughly in my own 2020 account Facebook: The Inside Story—it was striking to see the principals testifying under oath about what happened. Hey, my sources were pretty good, but I didn’t get to swear them in!
In their testimony, star witnesses Zuckerberg and Instagram cofounder Kevin Systrom agreed on facts, but their interpretations were Mars and Venus. In 2012, Instagram was about to close a $500 million investment round, when suddenly the tiny company found itself in play, with Facebook in hot pursuit. In an email at the time, Facebook’s CFO asked Zuckerberg if his goal was to “neutralize a potential competitor.” The answer was affirmative. That was not the way he pitched it to Systrom and cofounder Mike Krieger. Zuckerberg promised the cofounders they would control Instagram and could grow it their way. They would have the best of both worlds—independence and Facebook’s huge resources. Oh, and Facebook’s $1 billion offer was double the valuation of the company in the funding round it was about to close.
Everything worked great for a few years, but then Zuckerberg began denying resources to Instagram, which its cofounders had built into a juggernaut. Systrom testified that Zuckerberg seemed envious of Instagram’s success and cultural currency, saying that his boss “believed we were hurting Facebook’s growth.” Zuckerberg’s snubs ultimately drove Instagram's founders to leave in 2018. By that time, Instagram was arguably worth perhaps 100 times Zuckerberg’s purchase price. Systrom and Krieger’s spoils, though considerable, did not reflect the fantastic value they had built for Facebook.
The founders of WhatsApp did reap a stratospheric buyout, because in 2014 Zuckerberg threw $19 billion to acquire their then tiny operation. But, as told through testimony of some of its executives and funders, the acquisition hinged on promises that cofounders Brian Acton and Jan Koum would retain control. The WhatsApp cofounders hated advertising and were adamant that no ads should ever appear on their service. But documents introduced in the trial indicated that Facebook was basing its valuation on the premise that WhatsApp would be monetized, apparently with those despised ads. The founders left in 2018, when it became clear that Zuckerberg was calling the shots. “I espoused a certain set of principles, even publicly, to my users, and I said, Look, we are not gonna sell your data, we are not going to sell you ads, and I turned around and sold my company,” cofounder Brian Acton told me. His penance for this “crime,” he told me, was spending $50 million to create the Signal Foundation.
Though these founders were pressured to sell, there weren’t literal guns to their heads—and they did cash out in exchange for pursuing their dreams. So we shouldn’t feel too sorry for them. But lately people in Silicon Valley have been chattering about startup guru Paul Graham’s “Founder Mode” theory, which assumes that the person most responsible for creating a company is the best one to run it—and that the world itself benefits from such people. Zuckerberg, of course, is an iconic founder. But the trial is revealing a narrative beyond the FTC’s legal argument about anticompetitive acquisitions: Zuckerberg’s penchant for snuffing out founders to advance his own goals.
Of course, sometimes founders are well advised to take the money and run. Consider the case of Clubhouse, the audio-based social networking product that exploded during the pandemic. Its founders, Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, fended off multiple suitors, including a rumored $4 billion offer from Twitter. But after the pandemic—and some poor strategic choices—the service deflated like a punctured balloon. In 2023 it laid off half of its staff. On the other hand, it’s still around, and at least in one of its recent town halls, Davison still seemed to be having fun.
One question that Mark Zuckerberg did not have to answer during his testimony was how he viewed his own transition from prey to predator. But I did pose that question to him during my book research. We were discussing the mental anguish he suffered during the 2006 crisis. Zuckerberg told me that he often advises young founders not to give in to pressure. This advice, of course, was not offered to those running companies he wanted to buy. So I asked him directly—given his lesson from the Yahoo experience, did Systrom and Krieger make a mistake by selling to him?
There was a long pause, not an uncommon phenomenon when Zuckerberg considers a question where a candid answer might put him in a damning position. Finally he gave a response that dodged the issue, saying that Instagram could never have reached its heights without Facebook’s support. He said pretty much the same thing in court this month. On a legal basis, Meta will not be judged on how he bought off the dreams of founders, but whether he gamed the marketplace through his purchases. No judge will rule on the calculus of selling off a dream.

Chapter Thirteen: Aftermath
The paramedics carried Newton to a PPDC helicopter one block south of the apothecary, at the nearest clearing in the debris large enough for them to make safe landing.
Apparently, Marshal Hansen had ordered the helicopter as soon as Newton's presence was confirmed in the bunker. Hermann was grateful to the Marshal for arranging emergency transport while his own attention was elsewhere.
Hermann wanted to accompany Newton, but there wasn't enough room in the helicopter with both the paramedics and security officers on board.
The Secretary General had insisted on giving up his own security detail at the last minute, sending then to replace the officers about to board the helicopter.
Hermann did not like the look of Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber standing guard over Newton’s gurney, but the pilot was under Marshal Hansen’s orders to take Newton directly to the Shatterdome, so he could be treated by drift specialists. He would be safe there.
Besides, Hermann's suspicions of the Secretary General had only ever been conjecture— pure speculation based on evidence that was circumstantial at best. No doubt his paranoia could be attributed directly to the drift with Newton, who reveled in developing conspiracy theories about the Queen of England’s death or the symbiotic relationship between mole people and the alligators in the New York City subway.
Hermann felt some shame for having even voiced his suspicions to the Marshal. The danger that he had grown accustomed to over the past decade had always come from a fixed source. In its wake, danger suddenly seemed to come from all quarters and for all he cared about.
He started to follow Deirdre back to the armored van, but Marshal Hansen intercepted them, gesturing with his good arm.
For a moment it was V-Day all over again— Hermann and Newt were somehow both leaning their full weight against each other as they followed the new Marshal to the old one's office.
Then he was back in the bone slums. Dierdre stepped aside to confer her fellow security officers, while Hermann joined Marshal Hansen and the Secretary General.
The Secretary General of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps was a man named Dustin Krieger. Hermann knew him by name only. He was in his mid-fifties, but the job had aged him further. Surgery had fought a battle with age, winning some skirmishes, but losing the battle of the bulge.
“-involving local law enforcement,” he was saying. “This is an issue of national security.”
“Which nation, mate?” Marshal Hansen asked, with an even heavier accent than usual.
“Excuse me. Of course, I meant international security. The threat has already been resolved, and the perpetrators will be remanded into federal custody. The official story will be illegal kaiju organ harvesting, which has the benefit of being technically true. I’ve already ordered the Security Office to seal the investigation into Dr. Geizer’s abduction.”
“The Security Office is under my-”
“I recommend you have all non-security personnel involved sign a special NDA,” Secretary Krieger interrupted, glancing briefly at Hermann. “Unless you want someone leaking this story to TMZ too? With all of the international attention Dr. Geizer had received since the first leak, it would only look bad for the PPDC.”
Tendo pulled out his cell phone, scrolled for a few seconds, and then whistled.
Hermann had almost forgotten they were there. Tendo, Mako, and Raleigh. They were still limping from their heroics during the Battle of the Breach, but they had stayed up all night to help him find Newton.
He sent them a brisk nod and hoped they could extrapolate from there.
“I’m sure you know the PPDC is in a precarious enough position as it is,” Secretary Krieger was saying, “or perhaps you don’t know. Representative Taylor and I are old college buddies, so sometimes he lets things slip a little early. You know how it is.”
“What are you going on about?” asked Marshal Hansen.
“The Pan Pacific Defense Corps is in danger of dissolution,” said Secretary Krieger. “At least your branch of it is. After all, Marshal, the war is over. This is peacetime. If any part of the PPDC has relevance now, it's the civilian branch. I’m sure the UN will brief you soon enough, but if you’ll excuse me, I have some business to attend to. I’ll see you back at the Shatterdome.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
“What the actual fuck is wrong with that guy?” asked Tendo. At least, it was phrased as a question, although Hermann was fairly certain it was intended to be rhetorical.
“He doesn't have protection right now,” said Mako. “Couldn’t we just-”
“No.” Marshal Hansen held up his good hand. “We got what we came for. Now let’s get the hell out of here.”

...my first thought? Riders in the Storm by The Doors (d'uh lol)
youtube
Lyrics:
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house, we're born
Into this world, we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet family will die
Killer on the road, yeah
Girl, you gotta love your man
Girl, you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house, we're born
Into this world, we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

"WELL, THE CLOCK SAYS IT'S TIME TO CLOSE NOW, I GUESS I'D BETTER GO NOW."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on fan shots of American rock band THE DOORS, performing live at the Whisky a Go Go, Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, c. 1967.
""Jim had never sung before and your singing muscles need time to develop,” he said. “It didn’t take long but, vocally, Jim became a 95 on a scale of 100 after starting as a 10. His voice became a weapon.”
Likewise, though Morrison “was very shy and reserved on stage at first”, the guitarist said, “as we played night after night, he got better and better – and wilder and wilder.""
-- THE GUARDIAN, "DOORS guitarist Robby Krieger: "The music will outlast the crazy Jim stuff,"" published December 3, 2021

Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison - The Doors
When one day Jim Morrison and his friend Ray Manzarek enjoyed the beach, Jim began to conquer a girl in a bikini, and later he wrote for her the song ''Hello, I love you''. Ray Manzarek, liked the song and agreed that they would try together with music. They also invited drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robbie Krieger to create a music group called The Doors.
