So I found out that Aeris can sense lifestreams of the dead by communing with the 'Planet', just like how she found out the death of her foster mom's husband before they received the letter.

Then why did she act like Zack just went missing? Clearly he was shot by the Shinra after escaping with Cloud, which is again, according to Cloud's flashback (we already know how reliable that source could be).

Or maybe she was in denial?

So many things that don't quite add up in the plot.

Here's something I finally decided to dabble in after years of consideration. I spent a couple of hours learning the basics of creating my first AI voice using AllTalk TTS. I snagged some voice clips of Zack from an episode of Angels of Death and inserted them into the tool, grabbed some random things he said on Discord, and re-generated a few times to get something I appreciate. It was quite easy (unlike trying to learn AI art…). Now, it's by no means perfect and will likely need some tweaking, but I think this is good for my first attempt. I hope to create voices for all my soulbonds and do more fun things with this.

adding onto this with examples of some of the reasons introjects may or may not source separate.

Suno/Daisie (Todoroki fictive) is heavily source separated due to the trauma they suffered within their source. Her first step to healing was reliant on her ability to detach herself from source entirely.

Zack (Isaac Foster fictive) is decently source separated simply because he doesn't identify with his in-source counterpart's way of thinking anymore. He's still something akin to his source, but not identical. This semi-separation was mainly sparked by it being able to form bonds and connections with headmates and people outside the system, which is something it was kept from doing in source.

Hajime (Hajime Hinata fictive) is extremely source attached. His arc in source was completely centered around Hajime preventing his identity from being erased, and being able to be proud of the identity he was preserving. Giving up his source identity, to him, is giving up who he is. It would make everything that happened to him in his memories completely meaningless.

Jensen (Jensen Endo fictive) is severely source attached for a similar reason. He already struggles with who he is even while being source attached and identifying with his source. If he were to source separate, he would be pushed further into derealization and, to a degree, dehumanization. Both of which he already struggles with enough because of his memories and experiences in source. Using a different identity wouldn't change that for him, it'd make it worse.

Heyo! Today I want to talk about source separation with fictive alters!

Let's start off with fictives are NOT their sources, and for someone outside the system to treat them as such - it's weird.

However not every alter has a separation from their source, and that's okay so I want to talk about this more using personal anecdotes from the Pony Plaza System!

Let's take Mabel, Mabel is a fictive from Gravity Falls and whilst we believe she's aware that she is separate from the character, she prefers to live as if she is the character. And there's no problem with that, she's silly and joyful and very happy living with the rest of the folks in Happy Smiles Land (one of our subgroups)

But then on the other side of the spectrum, we have Shy and Rainbow - they are fictive alters of Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. They share similarities with their sources, sure BUT they are both boys and are completely different than them and don't view them as "this is me"

It's not always that cut and dry though, for example Finn is a fictive alter from Adventure Time. He doesn't think he is his source, but still doesn't know who he is entirely if he is not his source. Both Navi and Hina tend to get a lot derealization from existing seperate from their sources, Navi (Serial Experiments Lain) is gleefully delusional about not being real whilst Hina (Mafuyu Asahina from Project Sekai) often falls down an existential crisis every time she thinks about the reality of not being real.

So with those anecdotal examples, you can see that they all quite different from eachother despite being all fictive alters. The takeaway from this post is ALL fictive alters are different and have different ideas and preferences in terms of source separation - even when inside the same system. Assumptions with these disorder are never a good thing and you should always treat alters like the individuals they are.
