1 - The Omen

Synopsis: A US diplomat's wife has a stillborn child. At the insistence of a priest in the hospital, the husband switches the child with one whose mother just died in birth. When this child, Damien, is 5 years old strange things begin to occur.

Subgenres: creepy kid, antichrist, the devil, supernatural, end times

Reason for watching: A classic! I haven't covered it for the blog yet so it seemed like a good way to kick off 2024

Highlights: Such a well put together movie! The music is so good

Lowlights: Since it's older, sometimes the pacing can feel a little slow. Definitely some moments of "if only they did this, nothing bad would ever happen.."

Rewatchabilty: Definitely

Overall review: The tension throughout is so good - the practical effects are always my preference to cgi - the acting is very good (though does feel like a product of its era), and really a special shoutout to Harvey Spencer Stephens who played Damien who is very unnerving.

Who should watch it?: All horror fans should give it at least one watch

I actually think of all The Pitt characters Javadi is the "John Carter" of them all.

She's extremely awkward.

She's clumsy enough that she got nicknamed Crash

She's extremely privileged and tries to hide it.

She literally saved a patient by defying a surgeon and listening to the patient. While the surgeons were gung-ho to go in cutting.

She's still a little judgey (Think Carter with season 1 trans patient.) not because she's a bitch, but because she's sheltered as fuck.

She wants to have game. So much game. But she doesn't really. Please again see season 1 Carter (he did get game later; but season 1 Carter has no game. Only when women are falling into his lap does he have anything approaching game lol).
