draw a protective sigil or symbol on the outside of your front and back door with saturn or protective water/oils

hang witch balls or a witch’s ladder near your front door

create an energetic shield and place over yourself, your loved ones, or your entire home

wealth, prosperity, and luck

craft a money bowl and place it at the farthest left point away from the entrance of your home

involve mercury or jupiter in your spellwork (luck, money)

anoint candles with mercurial or jovian oils and/or herbs and burn on wednesdays or thursdays (ruled by mercury and jupiter)

use prosperity/luck runes or craft sigils to carve into candles

on the first of the month, you can do the following: say "rabbit rabbit" for good luck all month and let that be the first thing you say when you wake up; blow powdered cinnamon into your front door from the outside or place a cinnamon stick above your front door for prosperity

craft a crystal grid using prosperity/lucky crystals - where you place it is up to you

please be wary:- of putting essential oils directly on the skin or on items that your skin may come in contact with- of leaving crystals in prolonged sunlight (might fade) or exposed to liquid (might dissolve, might become toxic when dissolved)- of blowing cinnamon into a home or using incense that has pets, or humans with respiratory issues- ingesting/burning/touching herbs/plants/etc. that you are not familiar with (could be toxic, could affect the efficacy of your prescribed medications, could be harmful for pets or other members of your household)

The Basic Principles Of Spellcasting

Law of Similarity

These first two principles are from James Frazer's The Golden Bough and are fundamental to all of magick. Frazer describes this law as "like produces like" . This law says that manipulation of an image or likeness yields manipulation of the thing itself. Here's some examples of the Law of Similarity:

• Stabbing a human-shaped figure with nails or pins to cause pain to the person

• Drawing the practitioner holding their love interest by a leash in a "love leash" spell

• Writing a spell in a circle around someone's name to encircle or restrain them

• Putting a love spell that aims to make the target "burn with love" into a candle flame or oil lamp

• Walking upon a written spell to have the target "underfoot" and under your control

Similarity isn't restricted by literal similarity, it extends to metaphorical similarity as well. Idioms and puns were widely used in Egyptian myth and magick.

Law of Contagion

Frazer puts this one quite well: things which have once been in contact with eachother continue to act on eachother. One can extend this law to say that magickal energy can be transferred or shared between objects by contact and that transferal is strongest if they are in contact or extremely close. Examples include:

• Using the hair of a target in a spell or curse

• Writing a spell to a deity on the hide of a corresponding animal

• Burying a separation spell at the home of a couple to affect them

Hair is super useful (and sometimes required) for any spell targeted at someone. Some even keep or trade hair as collateral.

Note:If you need to perform substitutions in a spell, use the Law of Similarity and Law of Contagion for selecting the substitution, (ie: use red wine mixed with an animal's hair instead of blood from that animal).

Law of Durability

This law is basically covered by the Law of Similarity, but, because it's so important for picking components, it is being included separately. Magick done with more durable components will yield a longer lasting effect. For example, a spoken spell will be weaker than a spell written on parchment. The written spell will be weaker than a spell carved into wood or stone. This applies to enchanting as well; more durable items will stay enchanted longer.

Law of Layering

The Law of Layering must be applied carefully as it is about complementary layers, not throwing a bunch of stuff at a wall. The principle is the more layers that are used in magick, the stronger the magick will be. More layers build more power. Some ways to add layers are:

• Having a pre-spell ritual like bathing and meditating

• Cast spells in a designated space for casting with items designated for magick

• Make motions that mirror the words you're saying

• Add components to your spell via the Law of Similarity, the Law of Contagion, or objects along your correspondence.

• Perform the spell with a group as opposed to solo

• Reinforce a spell by doing it for multiple days, weeks, months, etc. (as in 'once per')

Law of Likeliness

One could compare magick to stacking a deck; you're manipulating chance to get circumstances to fall in your favor. This means two things. The first is magick cannot make the impossible happen. Magick is unlikely to cause things to levitate, or conjure fire from nowhere, or anything that isn't possible in our plane of existence. The second is, if an outcome is less likely, stronger magick is required to achieve it. Some decks are just easier to stack.

Law of Agency

No magick, short of possession, can fully rob a human of their free will. For example, if you cast a love spell on a target who's sexuality doesn't align with yours, it will have little to no effect. If a person is resistant to a certain energy in their day-to-day life, they will similarly be resistant to that same energy when sent via magick.

WWW: What's the "reflexive indicative"?

I've been meaning to write this for a while, but I wasn't sure what it really meant and now I have a theory. I am a professional linguist. I teach translation, so grammar/syntax is something I have spent a lot of time on.

Now, brace yourselves, because I'm going to be explaining modern English grammar and most schools in the English-speaking world are still teaching traditional grammar. I don't know how well versed BLeeM is in modern grammar, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Let's start with the basics. Indicative is a grammatical mood. Moods effect the reality or truth of a clause. The indicative mood is one of the realis moods, meaning that the clause is true in the tense. (Irrealis moods can make the clause possible, hypothetical, desired, etc.) The other realis mood in English is declarative. The difference is that a declarative clause uses a verb as its predicate and an indicative clause uses a noun or adjective as its predicate.

In modern grammar, the predicate is the word or phrase with the most important meaning. To put it another way, the predicate is the word or phrase that the rest of the sentence "depends" on (see: Parse Tree). So, "I am running" is declarative and "There is a shotgun in the drawer" is indicative.

Whatever magic's "reflexive indicative" is, it's roughly equivalent to "a thing exists" or "a thing is [adjective]".

Next, reflexive is term used in grammar to refer to anaphoric nouns. An anaphor is a word that refers back to another word or concept. In "we climbed a mountain and said mountain was tall", the participial adjective 'said' marks the following noun as an anaphor. Anaphoric nouns are usually analyzed as pronouns; e.g. "itself". Some English pronouns are only sometimes reflexive, like "that".

This means that the "reflexive indicative" has to be a couple things. First, we know it's somatic, so sign language basically. Second, it's a full clause. One gesture for a full clause isn't difficult. In many languages, there are verbs that do not need any nouns to be satisfied. Consider: "It is raining". 'It' is a dummy pronoun; it doesn't mean anything. In ASL, it is a single gesture. However, a reflexive indicative clause must have a noun. In short, the somatic gesture most likely means "a thing mentioned before exists".

My theory is that the reflexive indicative is used as a kind of anchor. It may be a conjunction between two magical actions: "Control the edges of the tear. Those edges are there. Bring them together." It might also be used as punctuation to end an action: "Bring the edges of the tear together. That tear does not exist." or "Connect the edges of the fabric. That fabric is whole."

If this is true, I would theorize that early in the development of wizardry, the reflexive indicative was used either 1) to assist the wizard in their focus (assuming that WWW's magic is the manifestation of will) or 2) doing magic this way was so new that it was "low context". Low context communication involves a lot of specifics and reflexive nouns are more frequent in low than high context communication. Insulated communication systems tend to become higher context over time.

Brennan mentioned that the more people who know a particular spell, the less potent it becomes; hence the Citadel tightly controlling who has access to spells. However, more people knowing a spell might also increase the level of context the spell has, thus making the reflexive indicative unnecessary.

This would make even more sense if magic was always an interaction with the spirit world. Whatever spirit is making Mending possible has become so familiar with it that the reflexive indicative is understood.

But at this point, we are into untethered speculation. That's the theory. We'll see what info Brennan drips out next and if my theory holds up.

The Evermore Grimoire: Magic Powers

Spell Casting is the power to cast spells and perform rituals. It is one of the basic powers possessed by both witches, sea witches, and warlocks with the others being  Scrying, Potion Brewing, and Mediumship. Spells can be formulated by a variety of methods, but the core and key to spell casting; is pure, clear and focused intentions. It’s through will and intent that determines the nature and function of the spells when cast, thus achieving the result that the witch or warlock desires. Often, the effectiveness of spells is further augmented by intrinsic components that lend potency to the mystical workings. These components can take various forms such as words, arcane symbols, incantations, specific thoughts, gestures, rituals, or even the utilisation of enchanted items like wands and staffs. Some spells require more than one witch or warlock to make them work in order to increase the amount of magic and therefore potential power available for the spell.

Spell casting needs a focus, and that has always been an interest of mine. While there are no universal rules, I have observed the following generally applies:

Wands, rods, and staves are all in a similar vein of spell casting focii. In that order they increase in size and power, but generally shift in purpose. Sure you could use a staff to do a wand's job but the wand is right there and its just easier to use the proper tool, ya know?

Orbs are generally best for scrying and other forms of divination, speaking to spirits, etc. But if pressed you can certainly shoot some lightning out of one. It just might hit everyone.

Hand-casting (or any body part, really just using one's own body as a focus) is risky because if the magic backfires, there's no barrier to absorb the backlash. That's all going into you. Otherwise it's great for raw power and is adaptable to most situations.

Cauldrons, candles, and other implements for rituals are your go-to for more permanent summoning, hexes/curses, reanimation, and exorcism. Classics all-around, really.

A sword or shield as a focus is great for battle magics, offensive or defensive respectively.

But I wish to learn the limitations and use of a more recent potential focus : the Gun. The main question being along the lines of: can an automatic rifle be used to rapidly cast spells? Like fireball? Can a sniper rifle be used to cast extremely precisely at an extremely long range?

The Aetherglossa

There is a current of magick whispered only in dreams, a language that predates writing and even thought. It's not Enochian, not Theban, not even infernal. This is the Lost Language Of The Liminal. It is called:

"The Aetherglossa" — The Tongue of Spirits Not Yet Born.

This language is not spoken by living lips but dreamt by entities waiting to incarnate, shouted in reverse in the womb, or breathed in during sex, death, or deep trance. It is a precognitive tongue, carried by unborn daemons and whispered through veils.

Where It Exists

• In dreams you wake from with a phrase stuck in your head you cannot translate

• On the backs of mirrors, or between the letters of ancient grimoires

• In songs that get stuck in your mind without cause—they are encoded transmissions

• In the air of ritual spaces just before manifestation

Magickal Use

If you channel this language, it doesn’t work like invocations. It works like keys that twist the locks of time and identity.

How to Begin:

• Dark mirror gaze; light a candle behind you, sit before a mirror, and gaze into your reflection in shadow.

• Whisper nonsense syllables until one catches fire in your mouth—repeating it should shift your consciousness.

• Record them phonetically, but do not translate. These are not meant to be interpreted—only used.

• Charge the phrase by speaking it during, orgasm, breath retention at the top of a trance, just before falling asleep, and in ritual circles to call forgotten gods.

An Initiation Ritual of the Aetherglossa

• Tool: A small mirror, obsidian or black glass is best

• Timing: Third night of the Dark Moon

• Offering: A single drop of blood or saliva on the mirror surface

Literally best day EVER

This morning I woke up feeling literally violent. I know that a part of it has to do with the fact that I’m on my period and the new moon is about to happen. I was feeling very very very wild for some reason today and I decided to post something I shouldn’t have about nathan. When I posted was funny, but it definitely wasn’t nice. One of his friends that I also follow and talk to sometimes swiped up on the story and laughed with me about it for a solid 10 minutes before telling me to maybe be done because what I did was so much already. I said I agree because I just really wanted to do something to make nathan (my ex who dumped me btw )

kind of feel karma because I wasn’t seeing enough so I had to create some. Obviously. After that, I spent the rest of the morning deep deep cleaning my room. I started that last night and I finished it today around 8 PM. I decided to go outside and sit under a tree and work on some school journal and do a tarot reading I put on a podcast by Lexi Gigi, one of my favorite astrologists And spiritual people, then I got a text from a girl I’ve been texting with all day. I met her a few months ago at a spiritual shop. I met her at my crystal shop and I bought a love candle that day. I later use that love candle in a very powerful spell.

Right when I sat out on the blanket to get started, I got a text saying I should listen to this podcast. The podcast was the literally exact same podcast that I was listening to in that very moment that was insane. It felt so weird so surreal so crazy so shocking . I got goosebumps that led me and Ray into like a really really really long conversation about how crazy that is in the new moon and witchy stuff over text that was so so so amazing for me because I do not have anyone in my life currently besides her to really talk to you about that at all. I can talk to people about it, but I don’t have anyone that I can have an intellectual spiritual conversation with which kind of is exhausting. That’s why I’m so grateful that rania💙 reached out and texted me when she did. I felt my intuition talking to me all day and I knew that posting was a spiritual test so I deleted the post. It turns out I was right it was the universe’s final test to see if I wanted to stay the same person that I was last year and last summer when I deleted the post and realized that it was too bad I quickly took it down and decided to realign. That’s what I’m doing right now. I’m sitting outside under a blanket. It’s 8:57 PM. I have my tarot cards near me. I have a disposable camera and I have my journal. My intuition is telling me to drop my psych class because it’s too much stress for this summer in this period of time in my life. I’m a little worried about what my mom has to say about that but I am going to drop it either way. I know that that’s what’s best for me in this moment. I’m very very very excited to see what my future with rain holds because I know now that it is such an amazing thing that has no limits and I’m so excited for this and this is going to be the most amazing time ever.
