🪶 Codex Entry: Vernal Equinox

Winter is leaving, but I’m not done with it yet. I feel the shift in the air. The pull of something changing. Something moving forward without my permission. The seasons don’t wait. They don’t ask if I’m ready. They just come— tearing through, dragging me with them. But I’m not done. I was made for the cold. For the sharp air. For the long nights, the ones quiet enough to hear myself think. Winter is where I burn. Winter is where I break. Winter is where I become. And now— spring is calling. Pulling. Like a tide I can’t fight. Like a whisper in my ribs. It wants me to bloom. To soften. To let go. But this isn’t a forward motion. It’s a loop. A cycle. A beginning disguised as an ending. I died in the cold. I rose from the ash. And now, as the world wakes up again, so do I. I am not some soft thing waiting for the sun to save me. I do not shed my fire just because the ice has melted. If winter made me stronger, then that strength stays. If I burned in the cold, then I rise in the thaw. Let spring come. But my rebirth comes on my terms.

What I also really find great about Reigen is how he's often so funny and eccentric yet equally capable of being serious, emotional, and, well, capable. I think that's what makes him chasing Mob hit so much harder; the jokes, weird expressions, exaggerated reactions, and traits so specifically "Reigen" are gone. It's just a mostly-average guy you wouldn't pay mind to in a crowd moving with nothing more than pure care and desperation. Well up until Mob calms down and there's that little "weooo" sound when Reigen's nose runs but I like that part lol.

Ok while I was writing this I thought. Mob is meant to someone who blends into a crowd, hence the nickname, and unremarkable on his exterior. Meanwhile Reigen seems infinitely capable and remarkable until you discover upon getting to know him he's pretty much an everyman. The parallels the opposites how silly of them to be like that I want to see more of them doing that synchronized judging thing they do sometimes.

The last song that was written, the last lyrics that were written was (for) the song “Hooked.” It starts off with the line, “I’ve got the fear / I’ve got the human fear.” And I realize that so many of the songs had an underlying theme of fear to them. But not necessarily succumbing to fear, but more like overcoming fear. “The Doctor” is about the fear of leaving an institution, and “Bar Lonely” is the fear of leaving a relationship. “Night or Day” is the fear of committing to a relationship. But fear is fascinating because fear is universal. We all experience fear. We all experience the same fears. But how we respond to it is individual. And that’s how we find who we are, our personalities. And overcoming fear feels good. That’s why we watch horror films or ride rollercoasters — because you overcome fear and then feel very alive for having done so.

Dark Night in Ba Sing Se: writing! started! First chapter is coming along nicely, RIP Zuko, and especially RIP Zuko's guard hat. Going to try and get this one up in the next week or so? The weather is lovely and there is no joy quite like picking strawberries and then bringing them to your children's splash pad for om-nomming with said children while your feet go kicky-kick in cool water, so no promises

A few months ago I posted that I had an idea of getting a T-shirt with Henrix's picture on it. But I had some doubts about details - at least I hesitated which quote from the game to chose as a writing. Luckily, I've recently managed to make a little time to find a printmaker studio and the designer who's helped me bring my ideas to life. I'm utterly delighted with the final result (which is down below)!
