OoooOOOoH! DUDE! Do you remember answering an ask about at what feelings stage skeles are towards the Lady? That was so long ago. D'you want to give it another go? xD It seems that even resident Mutt is now not immune to Lady anymore :D

All right, let’s do an updated version!  Here’s a link to the old one (which was from chapter 31). 

Nothing much has changed with our top skeles.  Red, Axe, Q, and Stretch are still all-in, absolutely in love.  Stretch has definitely fallen deeper since we last did a feelings check, and things have gotten a little rocky with Axe as of late, but that’ll go more in-depth next chapter.   Red and Q have recently discussed something off-screen… and that definitely has to do with the LL.  But that’ll be revealed later, don’t worry.  Red’s still struggling with the idea that he might just end up friends with her, even if he doesn’t let it show, while Q’s trying to maintain his presence in her life – although he seems like something’s on his mind these days.

Blueberry is completely infatuated; he’s close to love, but it’s not quite there yet.  I’d still call it a crush.  He wants to be close to her, and he gets jealous when the others get to spend alone time with her.  He thinks she’s fun, and he considers her one of his best friends – that he wants to go on another date with!  

Sans knows that what he feels is more than just a crush, but he still isn’t sure if it’s definite love–it’s not a word he’ll ever use lightly.  But he also doesn’t kiss just anyone, either.  She’s special to him.

Papyrus definitely wants to date her and be her bonefriend.  He loves her, yes, but I still wouldn’t call it a deep, romantic love.  She’s his best friend – that he has a crush on!  

Crooks also wants to date her.  He’s realized she’s more than just a special, nice human to him.  After their date, he’s found himself wanting to spend more and more time with her.   There’s a whole lot of love there – but it still hasn’t reached the point of romantic love.

Blackberry’s feelings have changed to something that was difficult for him to understand.  At first, he just wanted her because the others seemed to, but lately… he’s found himself wanting her to be his – and not just from a bratty monopolizing standpoint.  He enjoys her company and actually cares about what she thinks of him – to the point that he tricked her into going into that hot spring with him in an effort to get closer to her/discover how she felt about him.  His feelings aren’t love yet, but they’re close.

Edge is in love.  He’s actively trying to be better, even though he still manages to butt heads with the Lady.  He values her opinion of him, and he’s been overcome with the urge to kiss her ever since he woke up with her tangled in his arms.  It’s a new feeling for him, one that’s been steadily building the more time he spends with her, and he finally got the resolve he needed to make a move.  Encouraged by her enthusiastic response, he’s only fallen deeper for her.

Mutt used to just flirt with her to draw a reaction from her.  She was someone he could mess with, both to annoy her and the other skeletons.  She was also someone that could entertain his brother and make his life on the Surface a little easier.  But the more time he spent around her, watching her change the others, and watching her interact with Blackberry… the more he found himself growing fond of her.  Her opinion of him began to matter, and he realized that his flirtations had become genuine.  He wanted to touch her, to be close to her, to see her flustered and blushing because of him.  He’s not in love with her by any means, but he’s finally developed a legitimate crush – and has grown to consider her one of the only actual friends he’s ever had.

im assuming u mean Stealing Sorrow/Leading Light bc im pretty sure thats the only duology i mentioned (my brain is akin to a turnip tho so if its not... i apologize) (also this got Long, whoops)

so Stealing Sorrow is technically already written, but it's a short story i wrote for School Reasons and therefore had a 2 week deadline and an expectation to shove a variety of vocabulary words in it that otherwise would not fit. I'm not entirely fond of it as it is because its a first draft i had to show people, and i couldnt put in violence or swearing. However, the idea itself is something i love:

a prince and princess are betrothed, but because theyre both gay as hell, they run away to leave their respective kingdoms for basically the first time Ever. Along the way they come across the lesbian's cousin, Larceny, who left a few years back. Larceny reveals the problems in the kingdom, and Sorrow (the lesbian) and Artie (Arthur Light, the gay dude) get Larceny to guide them out of the kingdom, where they see the world is largely dead.

That's the short story right there. When i inevitably rewrite it as a novel, that will only be the first couple chapters. The rest of it will explore them finding other people, unravelling exactly why they weren't told by their royal family that the WORLD is DEAD, and learning new bits of recent history that had been dismissed by their families as conspiracy. It's largely about examining the problems with monarchy, how isolation can be dangerous, and the way parents who isolate their children can absolutely become brainwashers and cultlike. (Think antivaxx Christian parents who homeschool their kids and dont let them learn the word "fuck" or "gay" till theyre 20.)

Its got very punk vibes, also a pinterest thing somewhere that i cannot find at the moment, also there's fairies and explosions and magic.

What does SSLL mean?

*Hi there!  SSLL is actually a fanfic I have going on (Skeleton Squatters and the Landlady) -- but it’s in another fandom.  It’s just in the same vein as Obey Me because it’s a reverse-harem self-insert with a bunch of distinct personalities that’s drowning in tropes, so I couldn’t help bringing up the similarities.  x]

Oh my gosh my first ever ask!

Of course my favorite fanfics are all 2nd person reader insert, because I’m self absorbed like that. I love so many so I’m gonna list a few.

My favorite fic is probably Bones, Picked Clean by luluwrites, it’s such an amazing way to portray the horrortale brothers, I’m so soft for found families and comfort.

I also love Skeleton Squatters and the Landlady by Tyrant_Tortoise, a fic that is super good at displaying a ton of AUs.

I’m all a huge fan of Dirty Laundry by Popatochisp. I love the swapfell brothers, especially when Rus is just a touch starved baby, and this fic displays the brother’s relationship really well, as well as really healthy romantic relationships.

Panic Room by coco_finny is also a favorite, but it also has quite a lot of triggers and is very nsfw so I’d be careful if you look into it.

And last but not least, Despite Everything it’s Still You by CrusnikRoxas is a great reader insert story that takes place in the underground.

Oh wait also Thunderstruck by MeAndMyGaster. I wasn’t a huge fan of Edge/reader relationships before I read this fic. Just WOW, the character development by edge, everything is just beautiful.

Undertale Rant 3!

This is just a series now I guess?

It’s been a slow week, I need to do something.

I want to talk about the dating sim because that exists for some reason.

Just a disclaimer, this isn’t meant to hate or to put down anyone who’s working on the game or their interests. I’ve played both the demo and the Christmas special and they’re both really cool!

This is mainly just me talking about what I think about it personally, the popularity surrounding it and what it’s based off of. If anyone from the project asks me to take this down, I will, but overall this is for fun.

Also, spoilers for the game!

First off, can we just talk about how the game is just fanfiction come to life? Owl even writes fanfiction.

The entire story is just “House Next Door” with personalities from “SSLL” and Mutt not being a creepy yandere because that’s a thing for some reason. Instead he’s a nerd with anxiety who’s stupid because yes.

The quality of the game? Fucking chefs kiss, like holy shit. Undertale is a game about a child deciding the fate of the world but then someone decided to write “Six Skeletons One Maid” because almost every single x reader harem is based off something that hasn’t updated in 3 years. Now the entire community is filled with talents artists and writers.

I could make a presentation of how amazing the quality of the game is. The art style is adorable, the soundtrack is amazing, the voice acting is on point and the characterization for everyone is the funniest I’ve ever seen.

Next up, story! If you can even call it that?

This is my only real problem that bothers me a little. Again, the basic plot is the guys moving across the street from the player and they can romance whoever they want from there.

But that’s kind of it?

From the demo, it’s hinting towards just hanging out with the person of your choice three times and depending on what you say, you either end up with them or you don’t. But the point of a dating sim is to simulate dating, where you get to know your love interest over the course of the plot.

And I understand that the people working on the game can’t get to complex with things because it’s meant for fun, and they can go the non-traditional route if they want. But I personally feel like if it’s going to be that straight forward, then I won’t find it as fun?

I’ll still play it once the full game comes out because it’s a good idea, but that’s what I think and hope happen.

Again, this isn’t meant to disrespect anyone working on the project. They’re all very talented people who have made something really awesome. This is just my review of the game.

“I’m not mean. I’m direct. There’s a difference.”

He shifted towards her, slowly, and their shoulders met.

Then he leaned down, hand traveling along the railing, until it slid beneath her fingers.

She struck imagined letters into the soft skin on the underside of his forearm.

*I had to!  It’s got so many tropes and all the SSLL vibes.  I mean, suddenly living with a buncha dudes where one’s obviously the leader, he’s harboring secrets, they’re lowkey afraid of him, and you’re not supposed to go in the attic (or basement in the lodge’s case)?  I’m 100% here for that!

I’m also gonna stick this under a cut because there’s some Belphegor spoilers, and I know some people have only just started playing.�� =]

When you arrive in Devildom -- and by arrive, I mean you suddenly appear out of a flash of light in front of several strangers that may or may not be cosplayers -- the first thing you hear is “Welcome”, followed by a chorus of gasps.

There seems to have been a speech prepared for you, but it’s thrown out the window the moment a tall man with dark hair grasps you by the shoulders, breaking protocol to examine your face.  

“Lilith?” 

You have no idea who that is, but the way his deep voice quavers makes your chest clench.  

“No,” you reply, shaking your head as you supply your actual name.  His expression turns crest-fallen.  

“Of course.  It’s impossible.  That was...”

“Geez, it’s just a human.  For a second there, I thought it was...”  A silver-haired man is speaking from behind this one, and you’re so confused.  He breaks off and sighs, shaking his head.  “Damn close resemblance though.”

After the initial shock wears off, they roll back into their planned spiel, and you learn about your role as an exchange student -- and end up living with the demon brothers.

Lucifer

He treats you normally, for the most part, but there are times when you find him looking at you like he wants to weep.  It’s a soft expression that catches you off-guard, one that breaks your heart.  There are moments when he’s angry with you, angry enough to revert to his demon form, and you can feel the malicious energy rippling off him.  

In those moments, he’s looking through you, but then you say something, and his gaze meets yours.

That tragic expression crosses his face again, and he reins in his anger to give you a curt reprimand and leave.  He would never lay a finger on you.  On the contrary, he seems to waffle between being obsessed with whether or not you’re happy, and also being angry when your actions fall short to whomever he’s remembering.  

Beelzebub

Beel knows you’re not her.  He knows that.  But, he can’t help it.  He tells you all about Lilith, about what happened in the Great Celestial War, and you understand a little more about why everyone’s acting so strangely.  (It still makes you uneasy, though.  You’re not her!)

He shares his food with you, continually wants your input on things, wants you to cook for him, and hangs out in your room whenever he can.  He admits that he likes looking at you, but as time passes, he realizes that there’s plenty of differences between you and Lilith.  

“Sorry.  Having you around... it makes me feel less lonely.  I know you’re not her, but it makes me feel like she’s still here... like I didn’t fail her...”

He looks so sad that you can’t help it; you reach out and squeeze his hand.  

Suddenly, he hugs you -- and doesn’t let go for a solid hour.  

Belphegor

He’s shocked when he sees you for the first time.  He thinks it’s Lilith, and for that moment, he’s so happy, but then he realizes... you’re just a human.  

And his world comes crashing down all over again.

He flickers back and worth between his demon form, his rage getting the better of him.  He should kill you now for wearing her face and giving him that look -- that look of fear and confusion.  Lilith would never look at him like that!

And then he calms down long enough to spin his web of lies.

He calls you up from time to time so he can see you, but... it hurts.  

And it makes him more determined than ever to go through with his plan.  

Mammon

There are times when Mammon looks at you as if he’s seeing a ghost, but for the most part, he pushes that aside and doesn’t really give you special treatment.  He still comes to your room all the time, still boasts and calls you a fragile human, and he doesn’t give you those pained looks that some of the others do.  

However, there’s a time when he’s had a bit to drink that he ends up passing out on your bed -- and you get pulled down with him, his arms wrapped around you.  When you try to untangle yourself, you hear his slurred murmur:

“I miss ya.... Lilith....”

Ok I thought I'd ask you this since you're the one with the DND skeles but I had an idea in SSLL, Would the lodge rather be an abandoned temple to the aasimar landlady? The temple is dedicated to her because of the link to her God but finds that the group of Un-dead squatting there are actually just a mercenary party?

Oh, actually, the Lodge & Lodge versions of the skeletons a la SSLL belong to the lovely and delightful @tyranttortoise! :D So I’d totally pitch this to her if you’re lookin’ for SSLL specific thoughts on the boys :) (though Q belongs to @jolie-in-the-underground!)

I know it can get a bit confusing, as more than one person has a preference for the same core group of skeleguys XD but Ty totally started a trend there! <3

In general as far as DnD-ing a group of the skeleguys and an insert/reader lady, it sounds to me like you’ve got an idea with some excitement and passion behind it! If it’s striking your fancy, then I 100% think you should have fun with it :D

EDIT: also though, I’m flattered re being turned to for DND skeleton things!! Hoping this didn’t come off as being flippant, oh geez. In general, I think that’s a radical way to interpret any sort of hub/lodge, even if I totally defer to Ty re specifically SSLL things & her boys X) Plus them as a wayward mercenary party is delightful.

Honestly? I have no idea. Nessiah doesn’t really keep any secrets I don’t think...

I mean.. me and Angel have several “modern au” stuff of them... so...

well! we created this one AU where Xero was a principle and Nessiah is a teacher and they are 100% completely and totally married and Xero even keeps a picture of them together on his desk but Xero doesn’t want other people to know about it because of the age difference (tho Nessiah gdaf and he’s an adult anyways so...) 

But! Yeah Nessiah keeps up w Xero’s wishes but is really cryptic about it so all the students in the school ship them together and its a huge conspiracy that they are secretly married.

Tbh Mason slouches a lot and sometimes has to use a cane to walk around. He kinda hobbles and walks slow

Honestly? Knowledge/learning something new and doing stuff he knows his parents wouldn’t approve of

Meeting Roth tbh

Tbh not really? He’s just. be a theist I guess but call himself a Christian.

He would close up in on himself and lock himself away in his room

His mom loves him and tho she doesn’t agree with his “choices” in friends and thinks that him being involved with a man is wrong, she just wants him happy and knows Roth will always look after Mason and it calms her insistent worry over him. She and Mason are quite close and love each other a lot. 

Mason’s father is a little more strained. His father also worries about him a lot and tries to order him around and keep him locked up, making Mason bitter. His father doesn’t approve Roth at all, and is disgusted his son would be involved with someone who is black and a man as well. He is always constantly waiting for Roth to slip up just a little so he can arrest him. Despite those things, however, he really does love Mason and wants the best for him and Mason can’t bring himself to be resentful toward his own father.

Well obv Mason is in love with Billroth, who runs a gang and isn’t... the best sorta person. But Billroth is warm, true, and has a good heart despite his issues and addictions and Mason know he is loved.

Mason is asexual, biromantic, and is cis male!

Of course, none of those terms existed in his time period, so I guess he would identify as just being bisexual.

As a child, Malik is short and smol and has a lil pudge

As an adult, Malik gets taller and gets quite toned- esp his upper body as he’s a swimmer ;3c

Malik!! Does not fight!! He is a precious boy!!

Malik is cautious and gets nervous quite easily. He’s terrified of disappointment, being rejected, failure, and being forgotten.

Not... well... he closes up in on himself and kinda goes catatonic and cries a lot. He gets emotional very easily.

Malik just... showers then brushes his hair he doesn’t really care much for appearances.

Ry, getting things wrong and being wrong, realizing he said something wrong, and yeah

Well... obv his triggers (being in a locked room, being trapped in general, and denim.... I think that’s all of them)
