I never really played around with the Stalk Market in Animal Crossing New Leaf since I didn’t really understand how it worked as a kid. Now that I do, however, I’ve kinda realized… it’s absolutely criminal that they took Joan away from us. Daisy Mae is great, don’t get me wrong, but like…

“Stalk Market” is clearly a pun on “Stock Market,” which the Stalk Trade clearly aims to replicate in game.

In the game’s native language (Japanese), the word “Stock” and “Turnip” are very similar. Therefore, the entire concept of trading Turnips comes from a Japanese pun.

When introducing herself, Joan calls herself “Ol’ Sow Joan.” Her name (and species choice) is a fucking pun on Dow Jones, an actual Stock Market Index.

Absolutely everything about the Stalk Market in Animal Crossing is a multi-level pun… but now with Joan gone, there’s just a big gaping hole in this pyramid of puns. I get that she’s old and “has bad knees,” but this is a fictional game. She’s unaging, if you choose to make her so. She’s a crucial part of the punnyness of the Stalk Market. I can’t believe they gave her the chop, just like that.

Well, your turnips won't stay fresh forever! They rot, become incredibly poisonous and without value!

did they change the way the stalk market works in animal crossing or is my luck just that bad

for three weeks in a row, my prices have not gone over 95 bells. the last time i played this game, I always had at least a couple of days where I was offered 120 or more.

i don't even want to engage in that part of the game anymore because what is the point if I am going to lose bells on it every time?

I saved up over 100,000 Bells in ACNL, and I invested them all in the Stalk Market, hoping I could make some money for Public Works Projects in my second week.

Joan was selling them for 96.

Monday AM & PM prices were 86 & 82.

Turnip Prophet says there’s a 34.6% chance of a decreasing trend. I’m so scared. If I go bankrupt on my second week in town, it’s so joever. 😭

bought my turnips at 97 bells, this morning they were selling for 94 and now 104 in the afternoon.

the turnip prophet says it has the potential to raise significantly in the next few days but the possible minimum is 88 for every single possibility except the absolute Least likely one (where it jumps up to 135 minimum tomorrow)
