Every time I see an author promoting their debut Greek mythology retelling on twitter I mourn the loss of like. To put in ineloquently. Just using these stories as inspiration for your own. Your story does not need to force itself to fit the shape of Orpheus and Eurydice it’s fine you can just allude to their story!! You can use their themes!! Nobody is going to arrest you for being allegorical instead of literal!! I might eat them alive at this point. It’s the only way.
#like I think you have lost the plot a bit if you follow up ‘retelling’ with a setting so far removed from the original story#that you actively struggle to fit your stolen characters into their original plot structure#also none of them know what feminism is but I digress#talk

"selling gorgeous Victorian fireplace mantle!"
that house had better have been literally falling down around it or gutted a long time ago, or I'm filling your shoes with thumbtacks in the night
#there is no structural reason to remove a mantle#if you didn't want a mantle you should have bought a new house#antiques#old houses#'but all the housing stock in my area is old!!! AHSHAHAHDHD I ALREADY LOVE THIS NEW AU
but my one question is: what exactly are each of the brothers? mikey is clearly some kind of wanderer and raph a stone giant, donnie some kind of scholar/inventor, but leo is the one im most confused about. is he a nymph? a witch?
ty also @cococakeyum for the ask :D <3
(AND SPECIAL MENTION TO @scatterbrainedbot BECAUSE ILY YOUR TAGS ARE KILLING ME, GETTING ME SO HYPED FR :'D <3333)
#SO!#at least 3 of them are guardians#if it wasnt clear they all kind of have their own niche thing#and then a “bonus” power which is kinda just their usual powers combined with their protectee#ie: Leo does stuff with water and can use the surface of water to make portals#raph is super strong and big and shield-like and can build shield-like rock structures to protect#and donnie is the keeper of time and all knowlage#all in his library#each book in his library is a moment in time or an idea or creation#if the book is removed so is that part of time#which could cause the butterfly effect ect etc so he's there to stop that#his extra thing is creation#so he can build anything out of nothing (it just has to be non-living)#and as for mikey#dont worry. he has his abilites >:)#but we'll have to wait for now uvu#(i may have an entire story now made and ready to work on now help-)#OKAY RAMBLE OVER :DDD#rottmnt#rottmnt au#guardian au#rottmnt mikey#rottmnt leo#rottmnt raph#rottmnt donnie#rottmnt fanart#tribbleart#<3#tribbletalks#asks

Anyways when are we gonna stop pretending this isn't about "getting back at" an imagined trans guy. Good job! You both finally recognized trans men as men, AND ignored that they are punished for being men in one sentence. Really special work happening here.

The controversy is in only considering trans men as "men" in a way to hurt them. While also in a way misgendering:
"You're only a man because I know implying you act like a cis man in all the bad ways hurts you. In reality I see you all as hysterical bitches out to hurt the rest of the trans community" isn't progressive. It's just being nasty to be nasty.
Imagine hating trans people so much you joke about wishing they all died, then make posts like this, and assume that people will still think you actually care about the trans community.
#like. come on.#imagine thinking acting like a middleschool bully is fun and cool ??#like. you know what youre doing.#and dont start on the “well this is about trans women and the 'dude' problem!!”#bc if it was REALLY about that then trans men wouldnt get mentioned like that#as most trans men get that you just dont call a trans woman dude.#“how do i find the sneakiest eay to take shots at trans people i dont like” isnt very progressive and leftist of you#be better#also nice job using the 'dude' in both the gendered and gender removed contexts#you are ALMOST to the point of recognizing how that word works !!!#wheres the fucking post breaking down the five different ways that Dude developed#“dude” in the “reference to a masculine person”#“dude!” the exclamation similar to “fuck!”#“dude” with a comma as in leveling the playing field as spoken from a woman to a man#etc etc etc#its used in two different ways structurally in this post#which. would be interesting to discuss. if this entire thing wasnt steeped in transandrophobia#idk the more i see of these posts the more im convinced#that theres a small group of trans gals on here (SMALL) that are angry that trans men exist for a number of reasons#and they just wanna take their anger out on acceptable targets#mark my words these same accounts wouldve been making these same posts about ace/aro ppl when it was cool to dunk on them#like why do people have to take shots at people in community with them rn#we are being hunted for sport irl and then you get online and find ppl trying to crumble solidarity#with silly little stupid shit like this

Excerpt:
“The death of the author means we do not seek to “resolve” art through its creators. At the end of the day, the death of the author is about the consumer of the art. It’s about the consumption of art without ever stopping to ask the author what they want or what they wanted, at least not directly. The reader can ask themselves what they think the author may have intended, but such a reading or interpretation is still rigorously based on the art itself.”
—
The death of the author isn’t about ‘headcanon’. It’s not about eradicating authorial craft and labor. It’s about interrogating a text for what it is. It’s about resisting the parasocial drive to seek validation from artists. It’s about thwarting censorship and moralization. It’s about interrogating our own interpretive role. It’s meant to get us closer to the text itself while recognizing all the impediments in the way of any kind of ‘pure’ reading.
In a way, the death of the author leads inevitably to the death of the audience. We are not entitled to a position of authority just because we’ve dethroned the author. This is about centering the art itself and asking more intelligent and creative questions about that art.
#analysis 101#we must ask what the author becomes#when we remove them from the parasocial frame#Foucault answers that with the author as discursive function#we must also ask what we become#what is the reader#what is an audience#we don’t stop at 101#post structuralism#death of the author

There is scientific evidence through slag analysis that Mesoamerican metallurgists may have used a unique pre-Columbian technology to smelt copper!
#/massive fangirl#IT'D BE SO COOL. I WANNA KNOW.#Also- the use of wind technology is STELLAR. The SE Asians also used it. Which is an interesting thing to note.#Translation of that green text to Normal Person Speak:#The stuff that gets left on the ground because it isn't copper shows that the fire was barely getting hot enough to melt copper#but it was removing the sulfur from the rock well enough to still produce results. Unfortunately we don't have EVIDENCE of#the structures themselves in the archaeological record because they were too fragile; so there's researcher beef.#ptxt#mining history

Wanted to capture the feeling of an old 90s anime bumper... I'd say I'm like 85% of the way there
#been trying to really track my forms lately#wanting to understand the way things move in space and avoid shortcuts#this was actually a really intensive study piece for me#tracking shadows and highlights and things like bone structure#which i haven't really had to do in ANY professional or personal projects before#i wish i could've gotten away with fewer frames..... honestly would maybe even remove one on the upswing?#hmm. all knowledge for next time....#The Prince#halloween#animation#2d animation

Hi I'm a few days late on this but re: your post about uty swaps just making the Ceroba swap Japanese(tm) and nothing else; you're so right for saying it. The amount of swap Starlos in Ceroba's role that just make him Japanese (???) and don't delve any deeper into it are truly appalling. Like you don't want to explore how Starlo might react to facing the unimaginable grief and loss that Ceroba did? How he, someone is who proven to not really be capable of hurting others unless he's at his worst self, might feel having to fulfill this near impossible ask for someone he loves? Putting any of the characters in Ceroba's role and seeing how their grief might differ and manifest in other ways from hers is what makes Swap AUs so interesting to me and yet very few people even bother. Well this character is the Ceroba one, so they gotta be Japanese because that's all there is to it for Ceroba's character.
LITERALLY I think star is the most natural swap into cerobas role given they share a strong devotion to their loved ones but no swap I’ve ever seen captures that well. I do of course prefer swaps that at least try to explore that instead of just hitting him with the Japanese beam????
AND it’s so interesting for star bc the thing about the one time he was clouded in his judgement enough to be capable of killing clover is that it wasn’t really in servitude of someone else in the same way cerobas fight is. He could tell you it was (to bring them back to his side of course), but it was really more about him. On the flip side he doesn’t attack clover after they kill ceroba, bc it would “only spell more trouble” for him. He isn’t set on retribution or “justice”, he just wants to mourn her in peace and lament what he could’ve done. Like that’s interesting isn’t it!!!!!!!! To think about whether star could be pushed to hurt or kill someone out of devotion in a different circumstance!!!!!!!!! Whether he COULD fire that last bullet for someone. You’re telling me you put the guy whose goal in life is to help others into the role of the woman whose “help” requires her to do awful, “unforgivable” things and you’re just sticking him in a samurai outfit and leaving it at that?????
#like ppl need to call these outfit swaps instead of swap aus bc that’s what a lot of them are. and that’s fine!#making swap aus that maintain the characters is hard as fuck! another aspect that makes swaps w ceroba difficult is the fact that ceroba#chujin n kanakos roles being within a family structure is an important aspect I don’t think you should remove#ceroba was driven to do the things she did out of devotion to that family. especially her husband.#it’s a study of familial devotion and love.#swaps w starlo kinda just put random characters in chujins role and it’s likeeeee I don’t buy the fact these characters could recreate the#tragic downfall of the ketsukanes#you can just do outfit swaps. it’s okay.

Picked up the game again to finally dip my toes into the recent dlc. And i forget how much of a cluster fuck my 1st savefile is. Not that it's in a bad state, but it's just too much happening, too much everywhere. And i got nowhere to put new stuff. And it made me very stressed and angy.
Also pls..... the Bars....
#cult of the lamb#cotl shamura#my art#quick doodles#cobaltsona#this was my reaction upon returning and being overwhelmed immediately#until i realized i should maybe just start a new file finally..#instead of removing everything for a clean slate (......again)#but boy was i tempted...#what i would not give for them to give us an update to let us expand our area for more space#so shit doesn't feel like it's gotta all be on top of each other#like idk where to put all the new structures and i feel like i gotta rearrange everything now#which is... very tedious to do in this game.....#also just... please less bars =__= it's so many#i want to clear all the bars but the followers are too powerful Dx

im always surprised when anyone lists jopsons promotion as a happy scene because when my friend and i were watching it they were like "papa's paying attention to you but he's not really Listening" cause like, a promotion isnt really what jopson wants and it doesnt benefit crozier to show this level of favouritism when the chances of mutiny are at an all time high and it wouldnt hold up if they returned to england anyway. so crozier giving jopson this promotion is akin to him admitting to himself "we won't make it" and more specifically "my best boy won't make it" and trying to give jopson some amount of recognition / daddylove before its too late. he does a shit job at it because it isnt the kinda love jopson truly wants, but crozier thinking he knows best for everyone else is pretty par for the course.
#and also like the whole#let me give you a higher rank#that is actually further removed from me#that entails less intimacy#because from my understanding of the world#this is a reward#is so yummy#and so terrible#all at once#the structures of empire#always fucking them over

I started writing out advice for my college self who didn't know how to party (50% because she wasn't drinking enough), sighed, and clicked out of the draft because I'm going to get canceled for promoting alcoholism
#rambl#what can i say. it was fine for me#the key is to nail down amounts C and A for 'start with C shots before you arrive; redose A shots every hour'#i only figured out C and A when I was 27 and it was smooth sailing from there.#in college I thought 'i'm lacking intelligence or willpower or something...'#(which I was)#but the structural limitation that had to be removed first. was. sobriety

Tags from @average-transdalorian that I am pulling out to discuss the EW Wing Zero some more.
#I want so badly to like Wing Zero EW Version but I can’t#because the wings are too damn skinny#and I simply do not buy feathered wings that skinny!#solid wings like Wing Zero show version? yeah that works!#but feathered wings? no! those have to be as tall as the section from nape to thigh!
I realised, looking at them off the back of this rewatch, it isn't the wings for me that are the problem. Those are a gimmick and I don't think I'd like them on an actual model, but they're cool enough.
No, it's the physicality of the Gundam itself. If you place them side by side, the EW version is noticeably more slender and elegant. It has thinner thighs and a narrower, sleeker chest structure. And that's not *bad*, but the thing about Wing Zero is that it is introduced utterly demolishing everything in its path, including entire colonies.

And the TV version sells that more clearly. It's bulky because it's carrying around twice the firepower of the Wing Gundam. It's a brute, simply for being able to tank the recoil from the twin buster rifles.
And yeah, the EW version is ripped apart by that same recoil once it's sufficiently damage. But I still think the TV version sells better the idea that it could take it while fully intact.
#also removing the shield is just wrong#do not even talk to me about the EW Wing Gundam#which is a travesty#Wing is not Wing Zero!#why would you make them virtually identical in structure?#whhhyyyyyyy#anyway#yeah#the angel wings are neat but Wing Zero should be hench

There's a way people talk in English I see more and more that feels like two steps removed from being a human person. What is "self actualization" why are your sentences in English built the way Sophocles did his plays. I would dissociate if I started talking about myself like this.
#nothing against people talking like that but i hate reading them#because its so different from the way i structure my thoughts i feel like im stupid trying to parse them#and also genuinely when i try to actually understand what is being said and not just read it i do dissociate because of the weird removed#way it makes me think about myself#and i really see it more and more idk if its like a descendent of therapyspeak or smth

Okay. It was like pulling teeth, but I finally got all the back, sides, and top of the long raised bed in the back covered in hardware cloth. Yeehaw.
Thanks to a 12 foot long 2x4 I picked up by the dumpster yesterday (someone had obviously used to to level a newly poured concrete pad or driveway), I came up with a new idea on how to do the front which will be easier. Theoretically.
I'm going to put a new crossbeam halfway up down the length of the bed and attach hardware cloth to the upper portion. Then I'll do two doors for each section (four sections) on the lower half. This way the doors are (a) much lighter and (b) will use shorter lengths of scrap lumber, which I have much more of.
This plan has mostly resolved that feeling of project dread so hopefully it won't be so slow going?
#seriously I have multiple things that need to be planted in this bed asap#but i'm not doing it until it's protected because the damn woodchuck and/or raccoons are excavating huge holes nightly#like 8 inch deep holes or more#garden projects#overcoming mental roadblocks on projects is a bitch#i've got so much shit that's been sitting half-done for a decade#but i am going. to. get. this. one. done.#garden pest protection strategies#i think if i had the money i would build a structure to enclose the entire back of the property in hardware cloth#like a protected garden room that would allow pollinators in#speaking of the mason bees were so confused when i removed their house for the 15 min it took to install hardware cloth behind it#they are apparently busy busy busy gathering spring pollen and bringing it back to their 'house' presumably to start walling in their eggs
