Found the cutest little tea house today. I worked on a term paper and studied some French while sipping just the nicest tea.
Exiting the house after 3 days of the Easter long weekend has proved to be an excellent idea. 10/10 will do again.

Hi there! I've read and reread your post regarding ADHD and witchcraft, and I am super interested in your concept of personal omens. I'm a bit of a skeptical person who worries about looking too deeply into coincidence myself, so I have a guide on "is this a sign" in my BOS that specifically asks questions like "is this a common occurrence this time of year" and "is it something that science can explain?"
So I'm struggling to come up with my own omens (so far I've only thought of one, three Daffodils -which are not native or common in my state but have significance for me as a person) do you have any tips/would you be willing to show us your process for deciding on symbols and omens to look out for?
Good morning! We're in reference to this.
And the tl;dr is that I do not think worrying about the exact perfect symbol is a good use of time, because messages have a habit of making themselves known.
When choosing omens I don't believe selecting the exact right 'probability' of them occurring is the make-or-break of this system. I do think it's important to be wise when selecting for probability, though.
In my experience, omens don't necessarily come through in a clean-cut way.
3 daffodils [image link: a garden of large yellow flowers with a circle of orange inner petals] are a sign of... personal success. We ask for an omen after the spell.
We might assume that in order for this omen to be delivered we must see 3 daffodils together (perhaps plants, perhaps a painting, etc) at least 1 time. However I would argue that not only this counts.
A single omen can come through as a flood.
You see three generic yellow flowers painted in a mural
You see a logo which is a large yellow circle with an inner orange circle
You see a sign advertising clearance sale on daffodil bulbs
A song comes on your playlist which is about frolicking in a field of flowers. The stanza repeated 3 times stands out to you.
A podcast uses a metaphor of the power of hibernation over winter and the cyclical return of spring
The food packaging at the grocery store has 3 yellow dots
You see a new brand of tea which has a single white daffodil on the box
A gardener friend calls and talks to you about perennial bulbs, saying they might want to get 3 new beds and each one will have some daffodils.
In the grocery store someone tells a story about when they camped in Daffodil Campgrounds as a kid
Any one of these things on their own doesn't strictly count, yet taken together as events over a couple of days this could be considered to be a clear omen.
This kind of synchronicity can just play out when you're open to receiving omens. In my experience, as long as you initiated it then it goes away when you withdraw your consent.
But I hope you can see that if it does work like this, then there's no need to particularly worry about getting the exact right probability down. You can also run into situations like this:
You see a garden with 1 blooming daffodil.
You hear the song Daffodil by Florence & the Machine
You dream about going to a botanical garden that features perennial bulbs and is only open in the spring
You've encountered 3 daffodils; the omen has been fulfilled.
Encountering a single clear instance of your perfect omen isn't strictly necessary for omens to be valid.
I think having a personal list of guidelines for what counts as a sign is great. For myself a really really important one is did I ask for a sign?
Even things which are very common can still appear in startling ways. Let's just say you choose a super common omen. I don't recommend this, but let's just say it's robin migration season and your omen is seeing a robin.
Out of the blue, your friend says they're thinking about changing their name to Robin
A small flock of robins are sitting on your car each morning for a few days
The very popular true crime podcast you listen to releases an episode about the Robin River Killer, and the intro starts with a narrative about robins being a cultural icon in this area
Three different robins fly into the window of your house (they are fine)
Skepticism is very good. I think it's great that anyone who wants to get into reading omens considers themselves to be a skeptic. But I also think that if you usher omens into your life you might be blown away at how much it seems the world around you responds - it may arrive so intensely that perhaps a person might even short-circuit and say there is too much proof for it to be possible that all of this is just for them.
I don't know if my specific personal process of choosing omens would be helpful to you because it's deeply ingrained in my religion, using a system of symbols and meanings I've been building with my spirits for years.
But I do know that in my experience if an omen is too rare only its nearest approximation may arrive, perhaps in multiple parts like painted panes of glass that must be stacked up to reveal the picture.
And if an omen is too common perhaps it will arrive through not as a nudge, but as a scream.
Beyond that I much prefer omens that prioritize personal association rather than trying to key in probability, although I myself don't like things that are too common - no fun to be constantly questioning if something is an omen, or not.

Nagi Birthday (2024) SSR Story
Best Wishes Snap
Happy Happy Day! (2nd part)
Tumblr media
The bee in Nagi's signature is both because it's one of his favorite emojis, as well as the fact the "Hachi" in Hachinoya can mean bee! The 4-leaf clover is also a significant symbol to Nagi.
Tumblr media
Nagi: My cheeks feel warm...
Nagi: The party is long over, yet my heart is still pounding...
Tumblr media
Ushio: Hachinoya-san.
Nagi: Ushio? And...
Yukikaze: Are you alright? You've been crying for quite a bit now.
Ushio: Seeing you continue your act even as the tears flowed out from under your zombie mask was pretty entertaining to watch.
Yukikaze: Indeed, Nagi is very talented.
Yukikaze: But you should replenish all those fluids you lost. Here's some decaffeinated rooibos tea and a hand towel.
Nagi: Wow... this is like some top-notch after care you'd receive from from one of those massage places.... Not that I've ever been to one.
Chihiro: Nagipeko~ Were you still crying? And wait, is that large garbage bag you're holding filled to the brim with used tissues??
Tumblr media
Nagi: Oh, yeah, Chief prepared it for me.
Ushio: Ugh.... that's way too much snot for me to handle, gross.
Yukikaze: Tears of happiness are a beautiful thing indeed. But of course, tears that come from sadness are beautiful as well.
Ushio: That's not what I was getting at... well, it's fine.
Ushio: Hachinoya-san, mind if I get this over with real quick? If we don't get you to bed soon you might just use up all of Hama House's tissues.
Nagi: ? What is it?
Ushio: Ha.... You really are dense. I'm the one who got selected by the "Random Present System" to give you a present.
Nagi: Wow.... I really did get one....
Ushio: Isn't that obvious? Here, the present I got you is this apron.
Ushio: Your work ends up getting you dirty all the time right? That's why I carefully picked out one that's anti-bacterial. It's water-resistant too.
Tumblr media
Ushio: Well, Happy Birthday.... Um, I hope it's a good year ahead for you.
Nagi: Ushio... you took the time to select a gift for someone like me....
Tumblr media
Ushio: Ugh! Don't start sobbing on me now, seriously!
Tumblr media
Nagi: Nn!!
Chihiro: C'mon, don't cry, it's time to smile, smile~
Nagi: You're right.... Gotta take deep breaths....
Tumblr media
Nagi: Thank you for the present Ushio. Thank you for the cake too, it was super tasty. So much so I wish I could cut it into 365 tiny pieces and have them every day of the year.
Ushio: Hmph....
Ushio: Seriously, why am I in charge of baking the cakes? Aren't you guys working a high school student way too hard? I'm super busy y'know?
Nagi: It's not just any cake that everyone wants, it's precisely because it's a cake you made that everyone wants it. Let me know whenever you're busy, if there's anything I can help you with, I'll do it.
Tumblr media
Ushio: Huh... No no, there's no need for that.
Nagi: But everyone would be sad if you couldn't bake cakes because you were too busy... Of course, I'd be sad too.
Tumblr media
Ushio: Oh fine! I'll make sure I do it!
Tumblr media
Nagi: Is that so? I'm relieved then.
Chihiro: Ah! He finally smiled! Snapping that Nagipeko real quick~!
Nagi: Ah.
Tumblr media
Chihiro: Happy Nagi day! Yay~
Ushio: Don't upload that on dazzle, got it? I don't want my face on social media.
Ushio: Besides, the birthday boy isn't even in the frame.
Chihiro: It's all good~ We'll just keep snappin' and snappin' till we get it right~! C'mon squeeze in tight~
Tumblr media
Nagi: Uh.... it's warm....
Yukikaze: Everyone, come over here, let's take a photo together.
Momiji: Coming~
Tumblr media
Nagi: ...
Nagi: A place filled with warmth and kindness.... Just a year ago, I couldn't even imagine I'd have a place where I belong.
Tumblr media
Nagi: I want to treasure this happiness that's sure to continue even after my birthday is over.

hii! i just wanted to say i love your blog sm. your fics are amazing and your fanart as well😩 your work has such a good emotional depth that’s so nice to read/see. you have a way like the movies did of showing the attention to detail with their worlds and other worldly cultures and shit it’s so interesting to read <3. i didn’t know if your taking requests but this was just a random thought that would be so cool to see you write. no pressure ofc but i thought it’d be so cool to see rocket more introduced to like more music/Terran pop culture references😭. i feel like rocket would like goth music like the cure and shit and tbh lady gaga i feel like also😭😭. it’s so cute to think of him getting shown like classic horror and stuff, he’d probably think a lot of them as comedies or shit😭. i jsut had these thoughts to share lol. your writing has me daydreaming i swear <3. i hope you are having a good day <33 : D
you are absolutely the sweetest little bundle of love nonnie. cups of tea, midnight bonfires, and golden autumn leaves. that's you. thank you so much for the kind words. they truly made my last two weeks. and i'm so sorry for the delay - the start of the schoolyear has been kicking my ass to knowhere and back, and then this… got away from me. it’s really unforgivably fucken long for mostly just being a list ~
but i hope you enjoy it anyway ♡♡
oh btw i linked some related headcanons that might interest you at the end!
Tumblr media
to be honest i don't think i go through a single commute to or from work without thinking about how rocket would respond to the latest bit of terran culture you're showing him. when he was spending time on terra during the snap, he noticed steve’s little pocket-journal checklist of movies and books and shows to get caught up on. well, he didn’t just notice it — he might’ve maybe possibly swiped it — and once he trusted you enough to know you weren’t gonna fuckin narc on him, he decided to show it to you. he asks questions about the various titles, and steve’s notes scrawled in the margins. the two of you started there.
Tumblr media
rocket isn’t quite as prejudiced against actors as many of his fellow guardians, but he does approach the idea of movies and tv with a healthy dose of skepticism. you probably start out with some documentaries, and he loves those. he’s enthralled by the ones about outer space — appreciating what they’ve gotten right and snickering about what they got wrong, getting a little weepy when the narrator makes some poignant philosophical observation. he stares at the screen with something that wrenches at your heart when you turn on the nature docs, those cut-ruby eyes turning into something soft and molten, silvered over with a yearning you’re sure he doesn’t even recognize inside himself.
you might think he’d be a fan of true crime, but no — not unless it’s someone scamming a big corporation or stealing from some hubristic rich bastard, or maybe the occasional murderer who accidentally confesses his crimes on a hot mic. the truth is that rocket’s already personally familiar with some of the worst true crime in the galaxy and he just sort of assumes that’s how things operate at large. why’s he need to watch people talk about?
it’s this kind of thinking that impacts the kind of fictional shows and movies he ends up liking, too — once you finally convince him that acting is more about storytelling, and less about lying or trying to wear someone else’s skin. you’d think he’d be super-into horror but he’s very — selective about it. murderers, slashers, and body horror (especially of the medical variety) are not in his wheelhouse. he gets anxious in the worst sort of way: impatiently twitching on the couch next to you, chewing on his claws. he rolls his eyes but his shoulders stay tense and his tail is puffs up three times it’s normal size. he might occasionally snort and scoff at how fake things look but again, that’s only because he knows.
and he wishes he didn’t.
supernatural horror is much more palatable to him, and alien-based horror is usually hilarious as far as he’s concerned. space dramas and adventures have an unpredictable impact. he says star wars is too dramatic (wild coming from someone who has since decided he loves reality dating shows) and gets weirdly emotional about star trek. and you have to repeatedly remind him that neither the aliens franchise nor killer clowns from outer space are documentary series (he has some weird hang-ups about terran clowns and will dryly tell you that he’s pretty sure they’ve tried to kill him in another life). he’s extremely and overly fascinated by some of the weirder terran horror and horror-adjacent media: cult classics from the 80s and 90s, Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone — some of those weird old fantasy movies too, like the labyrinth and company of wolves. you always indulge him, trying to remind him of what’s fiction and what’s not, and what loosely straddles the line of being based on a true story (even though sometimes you have to fight with the urge to roll your eyes when he points at the screen and says, no, that’s real, i been to a planet like that!).
you learn he has an uncanny eye for CGI. looks weird, he grunts every time something rendered crosses the screen. very into practical effects, though. he spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make a claymation sequence of the collapse of ego — the living planet, that is; not some great philosophical metaphor — and took over your kitchen for two months to do it. you’d expected him to get bored of it quickly, but you’d misunderstood just how fixated he’d been. he’d stopped taking pete’s comms for the entire last three weeks and had barely slept at all till it had been done.
he’s equally selective about games. classic shooters bore him — why bother when you can go do the real thing with any despot-of-the-week? — but he kind of loves cozy games. he enjoys horror games as long as they follow his horror movie rules, too — minimal lifeform-on-lifeform torture, heavy on the supernatural or other weirdness. poppy’s playtime is a current fave. he loves dnd, of course. once he figures out the mechanics he always wants to dm because he’s got more control issues than a freighter full of ravagers, but you haven’t missed the fact that that he’s got a recurring favorite character that he pulls out regardless of which side of the dm screen he’s on — a shockingly wise and kind aquatic sorceress named lylla, with the gentlest healing vibes. it rattles you the first time he plays her — so at odds with his normal snark — but you decide it’s just his way of letting his soft side shine through when he normally tries to hide it under prickly defensiveness.
it might surprise you (or maybe not), but he’s far less picky about music, to be honest. sure, he’s got preferences — certain songs he’ll play on repeat, or jam out to, or weep over. but he’s just as excited to clone a taylor swift record as he is to get his hands on some iron maiden. he’s got something surprisingly positive to say about every single song you ask after.
that one’s real catchy, he’ll say, bopping along to dolly’s 9 to 5 — only to then croon his way through the lingering notes of jolene. then the next time you see him he’s asking how he can secure more tupac albums.
he gets all teary-eyed over the sweeping strings of sometime around midnight, then later tilts his head, ears flickering, to drink in the light starlit notes of single acoustic guitars and lonely pianos. he’s as greedy for 90s grunge as he is for screamo and post-rock. sometimes he steals your phone and it’s usually just to download a nirvana album you once had him listen to, but just last week you realize he’d blown a sizable portion of your grocery budget by buying the entire babymetal discography.
he explains it to you one late autumn evening when you’re in your room with him, introducing him to seventeen seconds. the two of you are just chilling. he’s traded in his jumpsuit for the kids’ sweatpants and the hoodie you bought him — the one with the ears — and of course you very wisely don’t tell him how stupidly cute it is. the sun’s going down and the room is slanting and pooling with blue-and-gold shadows slowly deepening into purple, and you’ve lit a couple caramel-apple candles for the vibe. maybe you’ve got mugs of warm spiced apple cider or cocoa or something. he’s sprawled on the rug on your floor and you’re leaning over the edge of the bed, with the entire musical archive of the cure, woven liberally with a random joy division album, some merciful nuns, and other collections from your personal library of favorites.
he’s super-into it, of course.
this sound is somethin’ else, he tells you as he stares up at the shadows. The candlelight is reflecting off some unknown surface in your room, casting flecks of fractured light across the deepening dark of the ceiling. his blunted claws tap a steady rhythm on the floor beside him.
you say that about every song, you tell him drily, and he shrugs.
but i mean it, he tells you in the gold-flickering darkness. there’s a long silence, and you think he’s just listening to the music — but halfway through dope, he suddenly breaks his silence.
i ain’t exactly the most emotionalistically-intelligent, he says quietly into the room. don’t trust myself to know when someone’s good or bad. there was a guy, when i was a kid — well. anyway. it’s frickin hard to trust anybody, myself most of all.
you wait to see if he’ll go on — but he doesn’t. at least not till you say, i get that. there’s good people out there, but the worst are usually so good at tricking us. and then it’s easy to second-guess ourselves — forever.
from the corner of your eye, you see him nod emphatically.
not in music, though, he says quietly. you hear him swallow — painfully hard. i think — music’s when people tell you most about what they are. even when it’s hard to understand at first. when there ain’t any words.
you tilt your head, allowing him the privacy of not looking directly at him. instead, you study the flickering candlelight and shadow, painting amber and dark-velvet patterns on the ceiling. that’s why you like every song? you ask at last.
that swallow again, hard as a rock in his throat. i dunno. maybe it means something, when someone gives a part of ‘emselves like that. to you — a stranger. just — serve themselves up like a gift for your judgement.
ah, you think. the vulnerability.
as if he’d heard you, he snorts. me personally? i’d never risk it.
even now, you can feel him watching you uneasily from the corner of his eye — waiting for you to mock him, maybe. but you only hum an agreeable note.
i never thought of it that way, you admit, but it’s true. you smile at the ceiling. and you said you weren’t emotionally intelligent.
he huffs, but the sound is more relieved than annoyed. i ain’t, he snipes. and then — more tentatively — maybe that’s part of it too.
you feel your eyebrows raise, but you still don’t look his way — cradling the back of your head with your hands while the music continues in around you, and smell of warm caramel apples fills the soft shadows between you. what do you mean?
softer now — almost nervous — he confesses to the darkness and the gold light and the sound of lady gaga’s voice. every time i listen to a new song, s’like I find something in myself i didn’t have before. or didn’t know i had before. or that i thought had died.
your heart stills in your chest and your breath catches, and everything in you suddenly aches. before you can say a word — before you can think — he spits a scoff into the air.
never mind. i was kidding. that’s fuckin’ stupid—
no, you interrupt quickly, and it takes everything in you not to turn over and catch his eyes and hold them. not to reach out and hold his hands, because you know he’s not willing to accept that level of comfort.
not yet. but soon.
so instead, you make your voice into the softest thing you’ve ever imagined. no sharp edges, no corners to cut himself on. just downy well-worn blankets and soft crumpled love-notes, happy welcome homes and the warm caramel of autumn apples. you will it go wrap around him and give him all the comfort he won’t let himself accept any other way.
no, you repeat. i get that.
i get that.

Echo’s Newer Bowsario Fanfics!
Lol, I was gonna use "latest" for the title, but "newer" got a giggle out of me, so, there we go.
Anyway! Hello to my selective few Bowsario (aka Bowser/Mario) shipping fans. I know there aren't very many of us out there, lol, but hey, we exist! And we have what fun we can.
It's been a few years since I made this kind of post, but I collected the fanfics that I've written in the past (found on this link and then also on this one too) for the pairing.
The content is easy enough to organize elsewhere, but I thought it'd be nice to put it in a convenient spot here too. And maybe some new readers will be delighted by the finds?
So, I figured I'd add a new one, since I've added a bit of new stories since the last post. And I'll share the old stories like I did before as well, because why not?
Presenting the list of the lesser-viewed Enemies-to-Lovers greats!
~~~~~
Amid the Roses - Set in an alternate universe where Mario and Bowser are removed from the Mushroom Kingdom conflicts, this stars the pair as a flower shop owner and tattoo parlor artist respectively. They end up meeting and bonding in a new way here!
Constellation Quelling - A much more traditional fare for the couple, this story has Bowser interrupt Mario while he's alone and relaxing. They bicker at first, but soon open up to one another in a way neither really expected, and the stars above certainly set a mood...
Distant Dawn - Based on a fanfic prompt from years ago on Tumblr, this is a short story to show some early morning musings from Bowser, who considers how his new relationship with Mario can develop, while a secretly not-slumbering Mario listens.
~~~~~
Along with those latest stories listed above, there were a couple of updates to my ongoing Bowsario fanfic, which started a decade ago.
That feels weird to post! But, with some new updates from earlier in the year and more since the last posts, I'll add that below here.
Eternally Never Yours - An ongoing fanfic that details a full affair between Bowser and Mario, as they try to make their seemingly impossible relationship a reality, while struggling to deal with the Mushroom Kingdom at large.
~~~~~
As for the rest, I'll be copying and pasting those below here, so that they can be included too. Makes it a little easier to find it all in one place, I think, right?
Mario’s Defender - A fanfic for Mar10 Day, it tells the story of Mario overhearing some unkind comments about himself, and then a certain someone (Bowser) going back against them.
Time for Tea - Peach has a small tea party gathering between herself and her friends, the Mario Bros. She wanted the brothers to invite their partners, but didn’t realize who Mario would bring until it was too late. Daisy, however, wants to hear the story of how they got together!
Red and Blue - In a slight change to the usual storytelling, this is a story that doesn’t use any dialogue to describe tender moments between Bowser and Mario while they explore a relationship together, going over their thoughts.
Bowser’s Beard - For Bowser Day, a story where Mario and friends go to find out where Peach has been taken, but then find Bowser’s Castle mostly empty when they get there…save for one hairy Koopa King.
Quiet Life - In a “what if…?“ styled story, Bowser is essentially exiled in exchange for the Koopas finally being at peace with the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario is the one that brings comfort to him.
Inn’s Covers - While going to an inn before a golf tournament, Mario ends up paired in a room with Bowser. They slowly learn to get along, and then some.
Upon A Dream - After taking a mystical pendant, Bowser ends up in a dream where he’s married to Mario, and grows to not hate it.
Heart of the Ancient Kingdom - Mario and Bowser are sent on a quest back to the oldest parts of the Mushroom Kingdom to retrieve a rare jewel. They go back to World 1-1 of their earliest adventures, and grow closer too.
A Spirited Story - Based on Super Smash Bros., the spirits of Wolf and Fox get into a chase sequence of sorts. Mario and Bowser are among the couples they visit. Not quite from this year, but I’ve included it too.
Wild Cards - A tennis story that focuses on Wario and Waluigi, but has a good deal of shipping support for Mario and Bowser. Also, Bowser wears his tennis outfit and Mario approves.
Jolly Season - A Christmas special that features not only Bowser and Mario as a couple, but some fluff for Peach and Pauline as one too!
~~~~~
Actually, you know what? Speaking of Peach/Pauline, I may as well include those fanfics here too. What the heck, you know?
This group is a series of stories that I started, um...also a decade ago! But, I've only stirred up the latest fanfic recently, so, gotta get to work on that one again.
Nevertheless, if you're a fan of Mario and Bowser being gay, then I hope you might enjoy Peach and Pauline doing so too!
Toying With Her - The first in the series, where Pauline finds a new object of her affections in the famous princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Set prior to Pauline's return as mayor in Mario Odyssey! (This story was from years before that even existed.)
Toying With Them - Sequel to the first, Pauline finds herself invited back to Peach's Castle, and finds several more lovely ladies to inspire her toys. Though she's only musing her crushes, that might not be the case forever...if one happens to read between the lines...
Toying With Peril - Finally set after Pauline's return in Odyssey, Miss Mayor comes back to the Mushroom Kingdom...only to find Peach kidnapped and Mario totally unavailable for the rescuing! Guess who gets to step up to the plate this time? Ongoing for now, but do you think Peach will finally learn of and return Pauline's feelings...?
~~~~~
Ha, I haven't done this for a few years. It's nice to see them all together again. Last time was in 2021, and now we've got this in 2024; I didn't think I'd have enough for another round.
Anyway, I know there are fewer fans of them, but for anyone that might be curious to try fanfics featuring Mario and Bowser as a couple, here's my current listing for them.
Meanwhile, if you want stories from other lovely authors, be sure to explore the tag link which I’ll be adding in right here for Bowser/Mario on AO3! It's grown a lot more since I last posted. There are even new regular posters for the pairing besides me!
Though I'm less practiced on Peach/Pauline (they're called Peachline, if I'm not mistaken), they've grown a bit more from my one-off notion of the ladies in love. (Started that back in 2014!) Find some authors that explore the pairing in better detail here. Hope you enjoy!
Part of me likes the idea of writing some more one-shots for Bowsario fanfics at least, and of course finishing that Peachline story in the future. ENY still has some ways to go, but it's moving towards its later stages finally. I wonder what this will look like next time...
Ah, neither here nor there.
For new readers, welcome, and if you've made it this far, thank you for reading and stroking your curiosity! Hope you enjoy.
For older readers, welcome back! If you find something new or want to revisit an older story, I hope you do so and enjoy too.
To everyone, thank you for reading this, and spending a little while with me! If you read any of the stories, please enjoy! Hope you all take care and have a wonderful day.
For the ask game, ring, trident emblem and bagel? For your favourite oc :) (~Dina)
I'm going to answer for Annette Trevelyan, who is undeniably My Girl the last few months <3 Thank you so much for the ask!
Tumblr media
RING — does your OC have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings?
She does not have any-- not in Thedas, at least. I think in a modern AU she would have ear piercings, but no more than that. She's not super willing to go outside whats acceptable mainstream, and I could at most see her having a belly piercing or nose piercing in a modern AU, but as a rebellion thing, and likely short-lived.
TRIDENT EMBLEM — can your oc swim? do they enjoy swimming?
She can swim, but she gets almost drowned by a terror demon in a mission to a swamp in early game, and develops a strong phobia of the water. She won't go near large bodies of water, especially still and murky water. Rivers are slightly more tolerable, but she still hates them.
Initially, there was actually a few times where like... not even bubble baths were cool with her. Like she needed to be able to see through whatever water she was in, or she froze up and panicked, badly.
While this is a cover-up for DAI not letting your character swim or go in any water, it's a fun quirk given one of the cutscenes in her chosen romance involves going to a lake. I like to imagine that the little detail that she's terrified of the water was forgotten because her partner was so stressed trying to work out the actual details of the trip to the region and it just lost in the chaos, but I also like to think it leads into her trying to face her terror of water by at least wading into the shallows (with a death grip on his hand).
She doesn't trust very easily, and so its a big character moment for her to a) ask for help and b) trust someone enough to help her in her vulnerability.
BAGEL — what does your oc's typical breakfast look like? do they usually eat breakfast?
Pastries. She's wealthy, and of the nobility, so when she's in her own estate, she has a whole selection of pastries and other breakfast foods available, but if she doesn't have access to that, she's fine with a cup of tea and then moving on for the day.
How to Create a Tea Drawer
Tumblr media
Creating a tea drawer is a wonderful way to organize your tea collection and make it easily accessible.
A diverse selection of tea is like a symphony of flavors, inviting you to savor a different melody with each cup, ensuring there's always a soothing or invigorating note to suit your mood and moment.
Sipping on a cup of tea is one of my favorite things to do so I thought I would give you a step-by-step guide on how to create the best tea drawer:
**1. Select the Drawer:**
   - Choose a drawer in your kitchen or another convenient location. It should be clean, dry, and free from any strong odors that could affect the flavor of your teas.
**2. Gather Your Supplies:**
   - You'll need some supplies to organize and store your tea:
     - Dividers or small containers (e.g., wooden dividers, small bins, or tea organizers)
     - Labels or tags (to identify tea varieties)
     - Tea tins or airtight containers for loose leaf tea
     - Your tea collection
**3. Empty and Clean the Drawer:**
   - Remove any items currently in the drawer and give it a thorough cleaning to ensure it's dust-free.
**4. Organize by Type:**
   - Group your teas by type or category. Common categories include black tea, green tea, herbal tea, and so on.
**5. Use Dividers or Containers:**
   - Place dividers or small containers in the drawer to separate different types of tea. You can use wooden dividers, small baskets, or even repurpose old spice containers.
**6. Label or Tag Your Teas:**
   - Attach labels or tags to each section or container, indicating the type of tea it holds. This makes it easy to find the tea you're in the mood for.
**7. Store Loose Leaf Tea Properly:**
   - If you have loose leaf tea, transfer it into airtight tea tins or containers. Make sure they seal tightly to preserve freshness.
**8. Arrange Your Teas:**
   - Neatly arrange your teas within each section or container. You can place them in rows or stacks, depending on the size of your drawer.
**9. Keep It Organized:**
   - Regularly check and organize your tea drawer to ensure it remains clutter-free and all teas are easily accessible.
**10. Enjoy Your Tea:**
   - Now that you have a well-organized tea drawer, you can enjoy your tea collection more efficiently. Brew a cup of your favorite tea whenever you like without the hassle of searching for it.
**Additional Tips:**
- Consider using clear containers or containers with transparent lids to easily see the teas inside. I love mason jars for this.
- Store any specialty or delicate teas separately to avoid cross-contamination of flavors.
- If you have a particularly large tea collection, you can label each container with its caffeine content or flavor profile.
Tumblr media
With a well-organized tea drawer, you'll have a delightful tea-drinking experience and be able to explore your tea collection more easily. Plus, it adds a touch of charm to your kitchen or beverage station.
The health benefits of having that super cozy cup of tea are endless too!
Dishwashing Made Easy with FABER 12 Place Settings Inox Dishwasher!
In the ever-evolving landscape of smart kitchen appliances, the FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo 12 Place Settings Dishwasher stands out as a beacon of style, efficiency, and performance. With the promise of hygienic cleaning and an advanced feature set tailored to modern Indian kitchens, this dishwasher is the perfect companion for busy households. Let’s dive into the details of what makes this appliance a worthy addition to your kitchen.
Sleek Design with Premium Inox Finish
Aesthetics matter, especially in contemporary kitchens that blend form with function. The FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo boasts a stunning Inox (stainless steel) finish that complements any modern kitchen décor. It’s more than just looks—stainless steel also ensures better resistance to rust and stains, increasing the appliance’s longevity.
The freestanding design ensures flexibility in placement, while the clean, ergonomic layout of the control panel makes operation effortless for users of all ages.
Capacity – 12 Place Settings
This dishwasher is engineered to handle the needs of a medium to large family. With 12 place settings, it offers ample space to clean dishes used in a single meal for up to 5–6 people. Each place setting typically includes a dinner plate, dessert plate, single glass, soup bowl, tea cup with saucer, knife, spoons, and fork. The well-organized racks and baskets ensure that all utensils—from delicate cups to heavy pots—fit snugly and are cleaned efficiently.
Whether it’s daily meal clean-up or after hosting a party, this capacity allows you to load more dishes in a single cycle, saving time, water, and energy.
Six Wash Programs – Custom Cleaning for Every Need
The FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo comes with six intelligent wash programs, each designed for different levels of soiling and dish types:
Intensive – Perfect for heavily soiled pots, pans, and kadhai with stuck-on food.
Normal – Suitable for everyday loads with standard levels of soiling.
Eco – Energy-efficient program that conserves water and electricity while maintaining good cleaning performance.
Glass – Gentle yet thorough wash for delicate glassware and crockery.
90 Minutes – A quick wash cycle ideal for lightly soiled dishes.
Rapid – A super-fast wash cycle for small loads or pre-rinsed dishes.
These diverse options offer complete flexibility, making the dishwasher versatile enough to handle everything from fragile glasses to greasy Indian cookware.
Efficient Cleaning with Lower Water Consumption
One of the key highlights of the FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo is its high water efficiency. Compared to traditional hand-washing, which can use up to 60 liters per wash, this dishwasher uses as little as 10–12 liters per cycle depending on the program selected. This not only helps in conserving water but also reduces your monthly utility bills.
FABER’s advanced spray arm design ensures powerful yet targeted water jets that reach every corner of the appliance, guaranteeing sparkling clean dishes every time.
Hygienic and High-Temperature Cleaning
Hygiene is non-negotiable when it comes to dishwashing. This dishwasher delivers high-temperature cleaning, especially in its Intensive and Eco cycles, ensuring the removal of bacteria and grease. This is particularly helpful for families with kids, elders, or anyone who needs an extra layer of cleanliness.
With the built-in drying function, your dishes come out not only clean but also dry and ready to use, reducing the need for manual towel drying.
Silent and Energy-Efficient Performance
Equipped with a modern motor and insulation technologies, the FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo operates at low noise levels, typically around 49 dB. This ensures a peaceful kitchen atmosphere even while the dishwasher is running—ideal for open kitchen layouts or compact apartments.
It also boasts energy-efficient performance, especially when used with the Eco program. This not only minimizes power consumption but also contributes to an eco-friendlier household.
User-Friendly Controls and Indicators
The user interface is designed for intuitive operation. The dishwasher features easy-to-use push buttons and clear LED indicators for program selection, rinse aid refill, salt level alert, and more. The delay start option lets you schedule the wash cycle based on your convenience—great for utilizing off-peak electricity hours.
Built to Handle Indian Cooking Needs
Indian cooking often involves sticky oils, heavy masalas, and stubborn food residues. The FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo is specifically designed with Intensive and high-pressure wash programs that target such messes with ease. The adjustable upper rack allows for flexibility in loading large kadhai, pressure cookers, and tall pots.
Moreover, the dishwasher supports the use of both detergent tablets and powder, so you can choose your preferred cleaning agent based on availability and budget.
Safety and Reliability
FABER has ensured that the FFSD 6PR 12S Neo includes multiple safety features such as overflow protection and anti-flooding systems to keep your kitchen safe at all times. The robust stainless steel tub enhances durability and prevents long-term wear and tear.
Final Verdict
The FABER FFSD 6PR 12S Neo 12 Place Settings Dishwasher (Inox) is a thoughtfully engineered kitchen appliance that balances performance, convenience, and style. Whether you’re battling greasy pots or delicate cutlery, this dishwasher is equipped to tackle every challenge. Its modern design, flexible features, and Indian kitchen compatibility make it a great investment for anyone looking to save time and maintain hygiene with minimal effort.
5/1/25: Sakurajima
From my journal (5am): Although Japan is pretty conservative as a society, there is beauty in having limited options (when you can't customize the hell out of everything, there is acceptance = peace?) and people find moments of joy and things to laugh about (even in the simplest interactions, like when a stranger shows me where to find what I'm looking for). // I will let my love be quiet versus consuming. // I will choose the people and spaces who are willing to meet me without question marks. // When you notice yourself ruminating, ask: what do I need right now?
The ferry ride to Sakurajima was short and sweet. I got some good shots of the volcano. A couple I offered to take photos for was super grateful and asked where I was from. They are from Fukuoka. They recommended I try small fish, shoju, and ice cream in Kagoshima. Everyone recommends different things to try. I so appreciated their enthusiasm to connect. My first stop was the visitor center, where I learned a little bit about the history of Sakurajima and browsed the souvenir shop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I sat at the footbath and journaled. I felt so lucky to be alive to experience what I was experiencing. After my feet soak, I walked the Hakamagoshi-Karasujima Lava Trail along the coast. I stumbled upon a couple of stray cats. This helicopter flew above me at one point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the thoughts that came to me on the trail include:
Enjoy this while you can
Balanced knowing you with the excitement of uncertainty
Trust yourself—look how far you've come
Loving this delicious grape lollipop from Aburaya Ramen—I could get back into hard candy
Linh just texted me she has as birthday gift for me—I feel the kindness around me is reminding me to be present and grateful; lean into this
What's meant to be yours will be yours; you won't need to grasp or cling (remember this: no matter how hard he clung, you could/would not be convinced)—such is life
Trust that this/any rut is meant to prepare you for greater things
Tumblr media
Then I drove to Yunohira Observatory, which at 373 meters, makes it the highest accessible point on Sakurajima.
I stopped by BreadBooth8 on my way to lunch. It was run by an old lady and a middle-aged man. I was super impressed by their large selection. When Google Translate froze for a bit, I felt myself begin to feel frustrated, but then saw that as a reminder to just go with my gut. It's okay not to know everything. Once again, Robyn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got a milk custard "stick" (bread, oh so soft and sweet and you know I like my bread slightly sweet), a mackerel roll, and their special volcano pastry (cake and bread bits, sweet potato, walnuts, and raisins in a nutty/eggy baked pastry dough). All three pastries were phenomenal. I had to stop myself from taking more than a few bites of each thing because I was on my way to lunch, remember.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cafe Shirahama was such a memorable experience. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by the two sweet women who ran the place. She seated me and served me green tea and a Japanese pomelo (aka "buntan") with two tools I had never seen before. One was for cutting into the rind, while the other was for slicing open the slices themselves so you could easily get to the pulp. The older woman told me she liked my hair. The not-as-old lady was excited to hear I was visiting from Seattle. I felt like I was in a different world. I felt the same way when I was at Masala Chai and Chow in West Seattle. What is the rush? I felt like I was on shrooms.
As I waited for the next course, I noticed jazz was playing and thought to myself, we work too much and take ourselves too seriously in America, lol. I observed other folks at the restaurant. There was a family, a couple, and another woman who was dining alone. As I watched a woman in her 50s (part of the couple) figure out how to use the peeling tools, I was reminded of how we are all learning. To hell with comparison and competition. It's hard for me to turn off the comparing part of my brain, but acknowledging when I'm caught up in it and letting it go has helped. That moment also affirmed that I want to continue staying away from social media. Wild how watching someone peel a pomelo in a foreign country can help you recenter if you're willing to be present.
After the miso soup, I was presented with this beautiful vegetarian platter. Had I known Japanese, I would have received an explanation of everything that was on my plate. I gathered all the ingredients were from the island or Kagoshima. I savoured every bite. In particular, I enjoyed the tempura-ed leaf, marinated enoki, potato/pumpkin/squash salad, and slice of mikan (citrus native to Sakurajima, like a tart satsuma). Funny to think how a single slice of fruit can be so satisfying and back at home I eat a whole orange, sometimes two, lol. I want to consume more mindfully and much less.
I also appreciated the pacing of the meal. Slow, which is what I so needed. It made me think of how at home, I so often just took bites at my kitchen counter—and standing. Like...why? So I could have a few extra minutes doing other things?
The last thought I had was how I came to this restaurant initially because I wanted to try the giant daikon native to the island. Did I try the daikon? Does it matter? :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch, I went to see the Kurokami Buried Shrine Gate, which only stands 1 meter tall. Apparently, it stood 3 meters tall until Sakurajima's eruption on January 12th, 1914.
Tumblr media
I thought this volcano eruption shelter in the parking lot was pretty neat.
Tumblr media
Arimura Lava Observation Deck was a beautiful walk with nice views of the volcano. I loved that there weren't many people on Sakurajima, only a handful of Japanese tourists. I didn't miss being surrounded by English speakers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ougaku Togei was unexpectedly fun?! My Heart Will Go On was playing when I stepped in. The next song that played was Oops I Did It Again. The daughter potter, Mihoka, served me pickled daikon and green tea. She told me they used volcanic ash (high in iron) to make their clay. I noticed a tea canister with a glaze body and orange clay lid and asked Mihoka why. She told me because it's unique, which made me laugh. Then she told me it's all the same clay. The lid had only been fired once, and wasn't glazed. The body was dried for a month, fired once, glazed, and then fired a second time. Her mom, Midori, was also very kind. Mihoka saw me out of the shop and I gave her a hug before I got into my car. She watched me drive off and waved. So sweet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I picked up a bunch of gifts for friends at the rest stop shop across from the pier, like Japanese zhong, sweet potato ginger candy, radish candy, and pickled Sakurajima radish (very large!).
Back in Kagoshima, Sengama Garden was closed, so I went shopping, lol. Went with the flow. And had a blast! The local souvenir store was so much fun to browse. I bought 2 bracelets made from yakusugi (1000-year-old+ cedar), one for me and one for Dad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, I stumbled upon a discount ceramics store called Kiraku, where I got 2 Hasami-made mugs and a Hario teapot (at last).
Lastly, I went to Montbell, where I got a dress and two T-shirts. I downloaded the PIE VAT app to get the tax refund. Old me would've been like whatever. That day I did it. This girl is growing up.
Tumblr media
For dinner, I was too tired to get katsu, so tried the free Japanese curry at the hotel (Kagoshima Plaza Hotel Tenmonkan), and finished pastries from earlier and was stuffed once again.
There wasn't a public bath at this hotel, so I took a hot bath instead. Tears were shed. I reminded myself: Grieving is a non-linear process. You'll be okay. Then I put on the bathrobe (so comfy, I need to get a bathrobe?) and enjoyed my night's rest with my forest-bathing pillow.
And this is was my room at Kagoshima Plaza Hotel Tenmonkan.
Kween Kong and Art Simone share Drag Race Down Under advice
Tumblr media
Kween Kong and Art Simone are Drag Race Down Under legends and supreme talents in their own right. QNews sat down with them for a chat ahead of their appearance at Moreton Bay PrideFest.
Drag Race
Does it bother you when people ask about Drag Race in every interview?
Kween Kong (KK): Not at all, Drag Race has been a pivotal moment in my career. It broadened my platform and opened so many doors for me. It’s also my favourite TV show so I love talking about it!
Art Simone (AS): Nah! I love it, Drag Race is a very defining pillar of my career and I acknowledge how fortunate I am to be one of the selected few that have been able to present their drag with the world. So I’m always happy to share some insight into the experience and a sprinkling of tea here and there.
Saying that, do you think Drag Race Down Under is giving a platform for queens and their art form?
KK: Most definitely. The thing is, Drag Race Down Under is a launching pad for our girls. You have to arrive with a brand and understand how to use the momentum that comes from the exposure to forward your career.
AS: Drag Race Down Under certainly provides a launching pad for our drag darlings, I only wish there was a way for us to showcase our talented community in other formats as well.
Drag is engrained within Australian culture and while Drag Race provides a platform for our queens, due to its formatting it’s unable to feature a large chunk of our broader queer family. I want to see all our drag legends and community leaders celebrated to the same level.
Individual achievements
Art, you’ve achieved so much and you do such fantastic work in the “mainstream” like TV and brand partnerships. But how important is it to continue to perform at community venues and events for your drag?
AS: It’s so important for me to continue to perform and feature in community venues and events because although I get to do so many amazing things in the realm of mainstream entertainment and media.
I acknowledge that I wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for the queer community that uplifted and supported me from the beginning of my drag career.Without that support early on I wouldn’t be where I am today, so it’s super important to remain part of that broader community.
Kween, you have spoken a lot about your Samoan-Tongan identity with your art, have other Pasifika LGBTQIA+ people been helped by your story or seen you as a role model?
KK: Absolutely, one of the things I attribute to my success is my Pacific heritage, it gives me purpose and gives me great pride to represent my community in mainstream spaces where we are few in numbers.
Representation is everything! For so long here in Australia, Queens of Colour have had a hard time finding spaces that not only include us but honour us for our perspective and what we contribute to drag culture. Being unapologetically proud of my culture has definitely created pathways for not only Pacific queens but queens of colour in general.
Moreton Bay PrideFest
I’m sure you’ve both done many prides, what do you see as the value of events like Moreton Bay PrideFest?
KK: Pride festivals and celebrations are so important for our community, they are reminders of how far our communities have come, Mardi Gras and Pride were originally a protest. It’s at these events where we get to take up space and stand hand in hand with our allies and celebrate love.
AS: The value in pride events like Moreton Bay PrideFest is one simple thing – Visibility. It’s one of the simplest yet most important things that can change someone’s world. Growing up queer can be a very isolating experience, events like this show people that there are other people out there like them and who support and love them. They’re seen and they’re valid.
What’s the Queensland queer community like compared to the rest of Australia?
AS: The Queensland queer community is loyal, enthusiastic, effervescent and always thirsty!
Support and shows
Do we need to “protect queer art” and if so, how can we?
KK: Rather than saying protect queer art – we just need to support queer art. How? Simple, follow local performers on social media. Have them pop up on your feed so you know what they are doing and when their next shows and events are.
AS: Queer stories expressed through art are important and need to be protected, platformed and celebrated. In order to protect it you need to seek it, show it, consume it and most importantly pay for it.
For anyone who hasn’t seen one of your shows, what can they expect to see?
KK: E-VER-Y-THING!!
AS: You’re gonna see camp, colour, creativity with a touch of “see you next Tuesday”.
Kween Kong and Art Simone will join Samantha Jade, DJ Harry K and the Fluffy Allstars and many more acts for Moreton Bay PrideFest. The event will be held at Pine Rivers Park, Strathpine on Saturday 8 June. More information at:  moretonbaypridefest.com.au
