Since I've made (pretty much) every Pikmin captain playable, it was about time to remake Remix's Chef Louie and Astro Alph!

Get these Louie and Alph costumes by clicking on their names here or through the images' links.

Chef Louie's design is based on Wooden Turtle's Cooking with Louie short.

I've also been trying my hand at some custom animations. I've made completely unique idles for Louie, while Alph so far only has 1 unique idle, a taunt and a new, weird f-tilt.

( A Sm4sh dev document where Alph was still considered a clone, he was said to "attack with the help of his antenna". Obviously this meant commanding the Pikmin, but I thought it'd be cool to use it as a whip lol )

If I ever learn how to make PSAs, even the slightest bit, I'm making a Pikmin-less Louie moveset myself because he deserves it

It is once again Subspace Freak Time! Hooray! Clouds are one of the most magical things in the world that people take for granted so often. Water can turn into heavenly floating fluff that can obscure the almighty sun, shower us with rain, snow, and ice (yeowch), and even generate electricity that can straight up kill you. And we haven't figured out how to deal with that yet. We probably never will.

So as fluffy and pleasant-looking as clouds are, it is fitting whenever they are portrayed as horrid freaks, like Spaak! Look at its TEETH. The thought of teeth in a cloud and whatever other anatomy that implies is rancid! I love it. But even more than that, I love how Spaak completely throws away all that is magical about clouds, and replaces it with technology! This cloud runs on a Battery! What is the battery attached to? I hope nothing. I hope this is just really a cloud with all this stuff attached somehow!

The battery is really so silly. And I assume the inspiration for Spaak's weird name, since it has two As, like a double-A battery! The battery has the Subspace Army logo on it, so we can assume Spaak was created by the army for the events of the game, and is not natural. Unless it was naturally a cloud beast with electrodes sticking out, and the battery was added to allow it to use lightning all the time, not just in stormy mode? I don't know! But weaponizing clouds is such a ridiculous concept. Sure, why not. Once again, they can kill you with electricity! They're scary sometimes!

If Spaak is attacked enough, it will turn black and stormy, now capable of even faster lightning attacks! Imagine if real clouds were like this. Just regularly shooting lightning by default and then doing it even more if someone tries to beat them up. I would dislike that! Do you think you could inhale Spaak? Be careful

Congrats for Smash Remix that I thought the previous update will be their last, but boy do I’m glad that I was wrong. My votes goes for Peach and Crash’s addition just before saving the final one at the end that you might be interested. For me, having a first PS1 era character really reach its limits; unofficial or not. 😁👍

I haven't done any Smash mods for years now, so it's about time I did some more since now I can properly edit models and rig them

How come nobody has remade Louie or the President from Pikmin yet??

I've been wanting so badly to remake them with more game accurate proportions and details for so long. It's always bothered me how no mods give them their backpcak from the games.

Some recolors I've done so far (might change some things. I really need suggestions):

I believe not giving them these hurt faces is the greatest offender to any mods made of them:

I reworked Nanobuds' Louie for Remix a few years ago along with Alph, but I made his head massive. Now his head is more proportionate to his body and thanks to that his antenna doesn't move as weirdly anymore. His arms aren't too badly rigged either now with barely any weird poses. Generally he's been optimized and his body made to better fit the rig while still looking like Louie's body in Pikmin 2 (btw any licensed Pikmin professional please tell me if Louie's head size is accurate enough)

The President was completely remade. Bigger head, fatter, brand new backpack and with an actual textured head. Wanting to make him as accurate as possible while wanting to keep the rig looking decent was tough, so I kinda sacrificed a bit from the two.

And best of all: their noses now have jiggle physics just like Oli

Name: Gamyga Debut: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Hey! I want a turn on the "talking about Subspace Freaks"! Gimme! Gimme! Subspace was like, one of my formative Weird Enemy Experiences! How have I NOT talked about any of these guys yet?!

Gamyga has always been one of my favorite Subspace Emissary enemies, and you wanna know why? It's because I have good taste, that's why! I mean, this is a really visually striking design, if you ask me. The trophy description it has in Brawl describes it as looking "like an avant-garde work of art from some young art-school grad." That's awesome. You KNOW I love things that are weird and abstract and artsy and pretentious! Gamyga is right up my alley!

I'd say this enemy was made for me, but it was more-so made for the purpose of having a really tall enemy that can serve as a road block that can shoot lasers at you from above while you take it apart piece by piece... That is, unless you are brave enough to take out the mask first and watch the whole thing fall apart all at once!

Of course Mod Hooligon likes the abstract, multi-segmented enemy that you can slowly dismantle or alternatively attack the head of to deal with it instantly. So what? I have a type! Don't judge me! I see no difference, love is love!

As I said, this thing is tall, which probably adds to the visual-strikingness, especially when combined with the fact it pops out of the ground without warning when you get near it! No wonder this thing left such an impression on me. I mean, imagine if you were just taking a stroll in the park when this thing appeared in front of you without warning! How would you feel? Gamyga Jumpscared? Or perhaps Gamyga Pleasantly Surprised...?

Well, no, you would feel "in pain" on account of the Gamyga Laser Blasts.

Sometimes, springs or platforms will be placed nearby that let you jump over Gamyga, or alternatively you'll be playing as a character like Kirby or Pit who can just fly over it. Otherwise though, this thing is going to block your path and soak up a ton of damage. But hey, if it's gonna do that, it may as well look good while doing so!

Man, I spent so long talking about the Whole Enchilada that I haven't even gotten around to talking about the Gamyga Bases on their own! That's right! With every Gamyga, you get Five Guys for the price of one, with One (1) mask and four of These Things! Could a Gamyga be considered a form of colonial organism like a siphonophore...? You don't need to sell me on this thing any more than you already have!

Though maybe it'd be better to analyze these as being something mechanical, given their stiff movements, and how every time they wiggle their arms, it sounds like someone moving a pinball flipper. I almost feel this design would be more interesting if it was biological, but there's something enticing about describing these things as being like "a robotic siphonophore". I honestly don't know which interpretation appeals to me more.

The posing of the arms and the hollow facial features almost remind me of the haniwa statues Gyroids are modeled after, but the presence of pupils and Teeth here makes them look considerably freakier, which as far as I'm concerned is only a good thing. Watch out! Gamyga Base can BITE YOU! Not in the game, mind you. I'm talking about real life.

Gamyga was one of the Subspace enemies they decided to give a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, for some reason. It's not in Smash Run at all, so I guess whoever was deciding on what things to include as trophies in this game just believed Gamyga was an absolutely vital part of Nintendo history that people needed to be aware of.

They were right, for the record.
