✮ The Desert Swan ✮
Like love, the sun rots in the summer, withering into rain, pattering on the highway, and digested in the mind’s belly. A quasi paradise at the side of the road, slowly, the cactus the desert eats, turning into a city in the middle of nowhere. As downtrodden as I may have been, I doled out prayers into their pockets so their seer might point out the way, out of here, out of the stagnating oil…

This artwork features a simple yet meaningful phoenix tattoo. Symbolizing rebirth, strength and immortality, the phoenix is depicted in a minimalist style, focusing on its essential characteristics. Its elegant shapes and lines express beauty and harmony, and at the same time reflect the power and steadfastness of the phoenix. This tattoo is a reminder of strength, being raised above adversity, and rising from the ashes.

i think vash is special to so many people not only because he is a FANTASTIC and multifaceted character, but because his pain is exhibited in a way that is deeply congruent with real life pain and experiences. he struggles with life’s purpose through a misguided and counterproductive philosophy and, despite having the purest intentions, is a deeply flawed individual. he is self-destructive and hypocritical, often times bringing pain and anguish unto himself and others without necessarily meaning to, as he dances the delicate line between what he believes in and the realities of the world. i think that is the beautifully tragic reality of our own human existence. his character symbolizes the grey areas of our own morality, the significance of our past and how it effects the present day, and the immense strength behind perseverance in the face of adversity. he is the perfect representation of an imperfect person and, ironically, what it feels like to be human.
tldr i love vash the stampede

Since I was asked about it and I really love yapping about symbolism, here’s the breakdown of what flowers are in each bouquet and what they mean
(Disclaimer I’m not an expert on flowers and am going off of google and a Victorian flower language book, alright, disclaimer over, let’s go!)
Full explaination of the symbolism under the cut!
Desert Lily- overcoming challenges
Rue- regret (Grian immediately regretted killing Scar at the final duel)
Marigold- grief (same as above)
Desert rose- resiliency
Desert rose- resiliency
Cactus- they never left that ring
Amaryllis- pride, strength
Poppy and Lilacs- desert duo was such a big part of this series and I’m a sucker for a good overarching symbol
Scott:
Heather- protection/ luck (I was thinking with him and his axolotl, he protected the axolotl and it ended up being a bit of a good luck charm)
Violet- modesty (he started with only two hearts, a modest amount)
Magnolia- dignity
Jasmine- Amiability, Cheerfulness
Clematis- Ingenuity, Cleverness (he prepared well and thought out his endgame strategy, very clever)
Rosemary- remembrance, wisdom
Orchid- elegance (partially because I really wanted some pink in there for his axolotl but also it was a well played game)
Pearl:
Wattle- flower of Australia
Dogwood blossoms- for Tilly 💜 (it also means ‘our love will overcome adversity’)
Begonia- to repay a favor/ a warning
Nettle- revenge
Alyssum- literally translates to ‘without madness’ and also has ties to witchcraft and apparently was used to treat rabies
Anemone- forsaken love
Wormwood- bitterness/ grief
Primrose- luck, joy
Daffodils- unrequited love
Martyn:
(I was a little mean with his, I’m sorry Martyn)
Cherry blossom- symbol of time passing, and how short time is
Gladiolus- you pierce my heart (he killed the last two contestants with a sword, I think he’s the only winner to kill the opponent with a sword) (Grian-fists, Scott- arrows/zombie, Scar- fall damage, Cleo-zombie (ha) Joel- fall damage)
Bilbery- treachery (he backstabbed his former teammate)
Tansy- hostility
Laurel- victory
Orange Lily- good luck
Coral- homage to the mean gills
Fir- an evergreen tree, another symbol of time and a nod to him now having all the time in the world now he’s won
Petunia- resentment (it’s harsh but he kinda resented the idea of a fair fight between the three of them)
Scar:
Sunflower- false riches (it’s scars chosen flower and it fits so well for the trader that never had any good trades)
Foxglove- riddles, secrets (its called Secret Life, I thought it would be perfect)
Datura- deceitful charms (scar was incredibly shrewd, clever and charming, this is an excellent flower for him)
Crocus- cheerfulness
Dandelion- magic, transformation
Poppy and lilac- hey, I haven’t left the desert either
Fern- magic, secrecy
Cleo:
I didn’t have much for them because it was only one episode but I’ve got a few
Larkspur- levity (it was a fun session and they seemed to have fun with it
Sweet pea- ‘thank you for a lovely time’ (they had a lovely fun time!)
Chamomile- energy in adversity (they were having a tough time with the vr aspect and still kept up energy)
Cattail- peace and prosperity (they kept fairly peaceful with everyone until the end)
Joel:
Honeysuckle- devotion (he was incredibly loyal to his family
Yellow Azalea- friendship, family
Ivy- fidelity, attachment (once again, incredibly loyal and stayed true to his family)
Yarrow- love, strength, courage
Cornflower- hope in love
Zinnia- everlasting friendship (family is advanced friendship)
Blue hyacinth- sincerity (he kept true to his word)

Here's my piece for the @sing-it-togetherzine ! I had a lot of fun putting this together and I got to draw my two favorite trolls. The theme of the zine was relationships so I had to draw the eldest and the youngest naturally. I tried to pick flowers to symbolize their relationship and ones that reflect their similarities. Hopefully I didn't get anything wrong lol
Sunflowers- happiness, positivity and strength, loyalty
Monstera- transformation, growth, also seen as a symbol of strength and resilience
Forget-me-nots- Remembrance, sometimes used to remember the dead
Aloe Vera- grief, healing grief, sorrow
Lotus Flower- resilience, rebirth, and overcoming adversity
Gardenia- protection, hope, new beginnings, harmony, self-reflection
Purple Hyacinth- deep regret and sorrow, used to ask for forgiveness
Yellow Tulip- hope and new beginnings, happiness
White Tulip- associated with new beginnings

Growing up among the Γυναίκες με Χρώμα, strength was survival. It meant facing adversity with grit. The tribe trudged through the harshness of the deserts with unflinching brutality, mastering everything from analog scrap to hybrid machinery to bleeding-edge tech. For V, it meant hunger was familiar, thirst was constant, and comfort was a foreign concept. Meals were best with a bit of burn. Mornings began with bruises and shallow cuts they didn’t remember earning. There were no luxuries, not even privacy. Only the tribe, only the family. And every night brought the chance that loyalty could be tested at the edge of a knife or the barrel of a gun.
It’s why V rolls their eyes when strangers romanticize nomad life, speaking of freedom and the beauty of a clean sky glittering with stars. V knows better. They prefer the smog, think it’s cozy being closed off. The clan made them hard, made them useful, and in spite of despising everything, or maybe because of it all, V can’t help but feel inherently superior for it. The survival instincts, the intuition, the willingness to do whatever it takes.
In recent generations, Gynaikes leadership adopted preimplantation genetic testing, a strategic choice to ensure female offspring. Pragmatists in the clan see it as a means of safeguarding legacy and preserving control. But among the traditionalists, there remains reverence for the natural-born warrior- the daughters birthed from struggle, not selection. As such, male births still occur, albeit more rarely. And when they do, those boys are raised like all others- trained from the moment they can hold a weapon, to fight, endure, obey.
But men are not intended to remain. They are marked early, branded with a clan sigil (an altered omega, paired with a watchful eye), serving as both an identifier and a warning to outsiders. Kill a marked man, and you may bring down the fury of the Gynaikes. Many exiled sons wear it with pride, proof they were forged in the crucible of the strongest matriarchal clan.
Not V. V never accepted the clan. They were always stubborn, never fell in line. The moment they were able, they scrubbed the brand from their skin with acid and rage. To V, the brand symbolized abandonment. The cold reality of being born into a place that never intended to keep them.
Like all men born to the Gynaikes, V was exiled upon coming of age- sent on a pilgrimage, a lifelong journey with one mandate: prove your worth by bringing back women to strengthen the bloodline. If successful, you are generously granted a brief respite before being cast out once again to serve the clan's interests elsewhere. Never a home. Only duty.

Today we remember the courage of the Little Rock Nine. ✊🏽
On this day in 1957, nine Black students became symbols of the fight to desegregate U.S. public schools after an angry mob prevented them from entering Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas. The Little Rock Nine faced threats, violence, and unimaginable adversity, yet they stood firm in the pursuit of equality.
We are inspired by their bravery and strength, and honor them today: Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Pattillo.

"A snapdragon means grace and, due to its growth in rocky areas, strength. However, it can also symbolize deviousness. Snapdragons also symbolize grace under pressure or inner strength in trying circumstances."
"The Snapdragon flower meaning & symbolism can evoke a spectrum of emotions, from grace and strength to deception and intrigue, making them both beautiful ornaments in gardens and potent symbols in art and literature. (...) This stunning bloom, often associated with admiration and encouragement, serves as a reminder of resilience in the face of adversity."
"It’s not clear how the bloom became associated with hypocrisy and betrayal but in the past, it was worn in hopes of receiving protection against deception. (...) many people associate snapdragons with keeping secrets."
"You could give a snapdragon as a gift to someone who has overcome a challenge in life – or perhaps to someone who needs to get through a bout of bad luck." (Source
(Sources: Many many Internet researches.)
Oh OP, you sneaky motherfucker.
i'm gonna be honest i chose the flower because i associate snapdragons with ragatha , i did not mean to make it hugely play into the story's themes

Andrew & tattoos
Been working on my redraw of Neil and Andrew from Pride 2021, and I've been inundated with thoughts of Andrew and tattoos.
(Including wonderful thoughts and ideas from people on the aftg big bang discord server)
Some of these will be more specific than others
Andrew gets a whole bunch of tattoos over the years. It's a reclamation of his body, and he likes the look of them, but that doesn't mean he ever gets truly comfortable in the chair. He can't be because there's someone he doesn't trust touching him and stabbing him repeatedly with needles for at least half an hour, but up to six at a time when he sits for bigger pieces. So every time he gets one, someone goes with him. Usually, it's Neil, both because that's who he trusts most and also the convenience of them living together for so long.
The two of them have a few matching tattoos. They have the key to the Columbia house with each other's initials on them. Neil's is over his heart, I'm less certain where Andrew's is. They have matching continuous single-line tattoos of the cats, and they each have roman numeral tattoos of the other's fox number.
In his fifth year, Andrew mentions that he'll be getting a Medusa tattoo. Aaron, who has been quietly researching ways to support SA survivors (which only Katelyn knows about), knows what a Medusa tattoo symbolizes and immediately offers to go with him. Andrew doesn't object and lets him come along. Because Andrew doesn't object to Aaron going to the session with him, neither does Neil, despite assuming he would go with Andrew. He still doesn't get along with Aaron, but he thinks Aaron going with Andrew will be good for them both. Before the session, Neil stops by to tell Aaron what Andrew's favorite tattoo session snacks/treats are and his favorite place to go afterward.
At some point, after he graduates from Palmetto, Andrew gets a tattoo in honor of Betsy. He tells Bee before he gets it, on one of their weekly phone calls and she offers to come with him. At the appointment, Bee surprises him by getting a matching tattoo with him. He gets forget-me-nots surrounded by a bee on his shoulder. She gets hers over her heart, and he gets his on his shoulder so she's always looking out for him. He holds her hand through the entirety of her time in the chair, and she talks to him through the entirety of his. They both quietly laugh at Andrew's choice of the forget-me-nots considering his memory. But if Besty notices that when they are colored they are also the same color as Neil's eyes, she keeps that observation to herself.
Other small one-off thoughts
'Sunrise' and 'death' on his collarbones with a delicate 'A' at the base of his throat
A fox skull surrounded by orange and white gladiolus flowers (strength of character, faithfulness, and remembrance)
A floral bouquet for his family. Edelweiss for Nicky (nobility, devotion, and resilience, also I hc Andrew having a love of musicals.) Magnolias and Dandelions for Aaron (perserverance and resilience.) Thistles for Neil (resilience, strength, determination, protection and pride.) Lotuses for Kevin (Resilience and overcoming adversity)
Barbed wire above where his arm bands end
There's probably more that I'll think of when it's not 1:30 am but that's where I'm stopping for the night

Going Through Phases
Mother wolf said, “Don’t despair if the moon leaves you in the dark. It’s going through phases and with new phases comes the turn of days and seasons. If you let patience win over you, sometimes, when the sun creeps in the silence giving birth to a new light, you’d find your moon behind isles of sooty clouds peering, letting you know it’s still there.” What does this teach us? i'm ready | yoon jeonghan

After seven long years, you finally find yourself in a place of true peace and contentment. The journey to this point hasn't been easy - the scars of heartbreak and betrayal ran deep, and it took time to heal and rebuild yourself.
But you did it. You persevered through the nightmares, finding strength in your own resilience and determination. With each passing day, you focused on your own growth and development, pouring your energy into your studies and your personal pursuits.
Completing your PhD was a milestone, a testament to your dedication and perseverance. It wasn't just an academic achievement: it was a symbol of your triumph over adversity, a tangible reminder of how far you've come since the pain of your past.
Along the way, you learned valuable lessons about self-love and self-care. You realized the importance of prioritizing your own needs and desires, of carving out space for yourself in a world that often demands so much of us.
The first years were undoubtedly the hardest. You struggled to find your footing, grappling with the weight of your emotions and the uncertainty of starting over. You were cautious with those who approached, wary of opening yourself up to the possibility of hurt once again.
But with time, you learned to trust yourself again. You rediscovered your worth and your strength, and you refused to let the pain of your past define you. You learned to allocate love and care for yourself, recognizing that you are deserving of the same kindness and compassion that you so freely gave to others.
You pause mid-packing, taken aback by your friend's unexpected enthusiasm. They shake the ticket with excitement, their smile infectious despite your initial reluctance.
"Y/N!!! We're going to Koreaaaa!" they exclaim, their voice filled with enthusiasm.
You hesitate, the memories of your past trip to Korea still lingering in the corners of your mind. The thought of returning to the place where so much heartache had occurred fills you with a sense of apprehension.
But before you can voice your concerns, your friend speaks up again, their tone resolute. "You're okay now, right? So it's okay to visit that country again. And besides, who knows when we'll have the chance to see our friends first ever exhibit. If you're worried of bumping with that piece of shit. Don't worry—I'll give him a piece of my mind. Maybe even a punch and a chokeslam for good measure!... I should have been with you when you went there" she pouted.
Their words catch you off guard, but you can't help but laugh at their fierce loyalty. Despite your reservations, their unwavering support gives you a glimmer of courage.
"Alright," you say, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "This is for our girl."
With a newfound sense of determination, you resume packing, knowing that this trip will be different from the last. Armed with the support of your friend and the strength you've gained from overcoming your past, you're ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead. And who knows? Maybe this time, Korea will hold new memories of joy and adventure, rather than pain and heartache.
As you arrive at the exhibit of your best friend, you're filled with a sense of pride and excitement. You rush forward and envelop her in a big hug, a smile spreading across your face.
"Congratulations queen, you did it!" you exclaim, squeezing her tightly. "I'm so proud of you for pursuing your dream of being an artist. Look at the crowd!"
She returns the hug with equal enthusiasm, her eyes shining with happiness. "Thank you so much! I couldn't have done it without you guys. You two kept on pushing me to do this and here we are."
She then shows you around the exhibit, pointing out each piece with pride, you can't help but marvel at her talent and creativity. Each painting tells a story, a reflection of her passion and dedication to her craft.
As you admire her work, she offers you two a glass of champagne, a gesture of celebration for this momentous occasion.
"Cheers to you and your incredible talent," you say, raising your glass in a toast. "May your art continue to inspire and captivate audiences around the world."
She clinks her glass against yours, a wide smile lighting up her face. "Thank you, and cheers to our friendship. I'm so grateful to have you two by my side."
Together, you three sip your champagne and continue to explore the exhibit, basking in the joy of this special moment shared between friends. And as you revel in the beauty of her art and the warmth of her friendship, you know that this is a memory you'll cherish for years to come.
Time pass by and your best friend excuses herself to greet other visitors, you nod understandingly, letting her immerse herself in the moment. Beside you, your other friend suddenly excuses herself to rushed off to the bathroom, leaving you alone amidst the bustling gallery.
As you scroll through the gallery, admiring the artwork, a familiar voice calls out your name. You turn around and are surprised to see Jeonghan standing there, holding a glass of champagne. To your own surprise, you feel no shock or hurt at his presence. Instead, you feel a sense of calm and resolution.
"Hi," he says, his voice tentative as he approaches you. "How are you?"
You offer him a small smile. "I'm doing better than ever," you reply confidently. "I got my PhD and now I'm planning on doing my residency."
Jeonghan's eyes light up with genuine pride. "That's amazing," he says, offering his congratulations. "I always knew you would achieve great things."
You exchange conversation for a while, catching up on each other's lives. Eventually, Jeonghan takes a deep breath and admits once again that he is truly sorry for the pain he caused in the past.
You nod, feeling a sense of closure wash over you. "I've forgiven you," you say simply.
His eyes widen with hope, and for a moment, you see the flicker of longing in his gaze. But before he can say anything else, a commotion interrupts the moment.
A little kid comes running towards you, calling you "mama." You glance down and see your baby boy, and you can't help but smile as you scoop him up into your arms.
"Where's Papa?" you ask, and just then, a voice responds—a man carrying your one-year-old daughter.
Jeonghan stands frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief as he takes in the sight of your family. You introduce your husband to him, and as you do, your baby boy innocently asks who the man you're talking to is.
"He's one of the singers mommy used to love," you reply gently, trying to keep the atmosphere light.
Jeonghan introduces himself to your family, his emotions held back as he struggles to maintain his composure. But as the moment stretches on, you can see the glass in his hand trembling, a silent testament to the storm of emotions raging within him.
"Mama, can we look for Tatie?" your baby boy asks, his eyes wide with curiosity.
You smile down at him and give a nod. "Of course, sweetheart. Let's go find her," you reply, your heart swelling with love for your children.
Turning to Jeonghan, you offer a polite smile. "It was nice meeting you again," you say sincerely.
Your baby boy tugs at your hand, eager to leave. "Goodbye, Uncle!" he chirps before running off with your husband and daughter.
Jeonghan watches them go, his face a mixture of shock and sadness. You offer him a sympathetic smile before turning away to search for your best friend.
As you walk with your husband by your side, his arm wrapped around you protectively, you feel a sense of peace wash over you. You lean into him, grateful for his unwavering support and patience.
"Thank you for being so patient love," you murmur, pressing a quick peck to his cheek.
He smiles down at you, his eyes filled with warmth. "You're very brave, you know that," he says simply, his voice filled with admiration.
You feel a surge of gratitude for the life you've built together, for the love and happiness that surrounds you. And as you continue to search for your best friends, you realize that maybe visiting Korea isn't so bad after all, especially when you have your family by your side.
In that moment, you realize that the greatest revenge you can provide to Jeonghan is finding your own happiness without him. And as you find your own people who cherish and support you, you know that you've already won.

VIII Strength - Yellowfang
In this tarot card, you will see a woman who calmly controls a fully grown lion. What is captivating is how gracefully she controls the lion. She is calm and collected, which is representative for being in control and disciplined, especially in times of great adversities. Her holding the lion shows vourage, and her control of the lion without being too rough also shows love and compassion. The lion is a symbol of courage, passion and desire which are very much part of the feelings that are necessary for survival. But if these feelings are not put in check, they can lead to our eventual destruction.
Also featured: Brokenstar
(I decided I wasn't too satisfied with my own handwriting oops, so I decided to switch to text)
