Remember in the Alex hirshe comic con thingy he mentioned that Bill would also watch The Duchess approves
Soooooo would that mean that Stanfraud would watch cheesy old lady soap operas with Stanley?
Also has there been moments where Bill conceplated what will happen when he gets back to his body, what will happen to this family (while not his) that has become attached to.
Another thing I was thinking is how betrayed would Ford feel that Stanley was essentially playing house with Bill and how much anger would he feel at Bill for taking away time he could have had spent with his grand-niece and nephew, and with his brother?
This au is so incredibly interesting >v<!!!
They absolutely watch cheesy soap operas together — all the time. It’s become their thing, honestly.
Bill definitely catches Stan writing his erotic fan fiction (canon information on the website) and will never let him live it down — ever. He does offer to proofread though! But Stan threatens to play synthesised music to get rid of him.
As for Bill’s thoughts on getting his own body back. It’s always been there in the back of his mind, usually as a positive. Finally, he can be free of this annoying skin puppet and get back to prepping for weirdmaggedon. Finally, he can be himself again! But, as the reality of it draws closer, he begins to experience hesitance, which he wasn’t quite ready for. Why would he be hesitant? He’s waited thirty years for this!
(His eyes tend to linger on the two photos Stan keeps down in the basement, one of the twins, and one of everyone: him, Stan, Wendy, Soos, and again, the twins).
Stan also feels a sense of… sadness, maybe? He isn’t quite sure what it is. But there’s something hanging over both of them as they’ve almost figured it out, and, despite the complications behind their friendship, Stan can’t help but ask:
“You’re not gonna just… disappear, are yah? Kids’ll miss you if you did.”
‘I’d miss you’ goes unsaid.
And Bill probably has to pause for a second, caught off guard. Stan swears he almost catches a glimpse of sadness in his eyes, but it’s gone too fast, and Bill forces a grin.
“Oh please, Fez. You couldn’t get rid of me, even if you tried!”
There’s an uncertainty in his voice. Stan doesn’t comment on it.
Honestly, thinking about Weirdmaggedon, I don’t think Bill would be ready to accept how drastically he’s changed yet, even now, and would try to prove this by sticking with it. Albeit, he makes some changes. He doesn’t have to put the Pines in danger! They can be V.I.Ps! Shooting Star’s already a servant of chaos as is, he can let her whip up some creations to terrorise the town! And for Pinetree? Weirdmaggedon would be a front row seat to Gravity Falls’ weirdness on full display. With so much to study, how could he hate it? And Fez hates the law as is, why not let him be above it. Surely he’d appreciate the gesture after all they’ve been through together. A little token of his appreciation. And Sixer… well, he’ll come around once he sees just how safe Bill is keeping their his family. Maybe he’ll even throw Ice and Question Mark in the mix, just to cover all his bases.
Rationalising like that… it makes him a little less hesitant about getting his body back.
He doesn’t tell Stan of course, or anybody, even after it’s revealed who and what he is. It has to be a surprise!
And finally, Ford.
He honestly makes me really upset in this au, because you’re 100% right. He hasn’t just lost 30 years of his own life, he’s also lost 30 years of family. He’s missed his parents’ funerals, the birth of his grand niece and nephew, etc. And apparently, Stanley knew how dangerous Bill was, read all of Ford’s warnings and scattered notes, and still let him be around the kids, still played house with him all those years.
How has Bill manipulated him? He thought Stanley was smarter than that!
He can’t even be happy to bond with his niece and nephew, because they’ve been deceived into thinking he was someone else for months — Bill, no less!
Honestly, it hurts the most when he truly accepts Stan hasn’t been manipulated. He isn’t doing this because he’s been backed into a corner, even if it started off that way. He’s genuinely bonded with that monster. So have the kids. So have the townsfolk who Ford struggled so hard with to connect with.
It’s a lot of salt being rubbed into open wounds.

Why Sound Design is so Important in Games
Sound design is a key point in games, though it is often neglected in college games where we do a lot of work without speakers on. Having some good audio in a game really helps elevate the experience beyond just being a solely visual medium, as much as audio changed silent movies. The games with the best sound design are often those with realistic sound systems, or ones that elicit the desired emotional response. Good sound design can make you terrified to turn a corner; it can make you cry in the game's saddest moments; it can turn a level from a selection of rendered polygons to a truly real-seeming experience. Obviously our game's sound design isn't that deep, but it doesn't add nothing to the game either.
The first game I am looking at is Thief: The Dark Project. This game came out in 1998, but I would say it still holds up today with a few patches to make it run on modern systems. The game has a unique stealth system that lets you hide in shadows, but the main thing we're looking at is the sound. Different surfaces are different levels of loudness when walked on - carpet is perfect for sneaking, but metal catwalks are loud and clank under your feet. This isn't just set dressing either, because enemies are more likely to hear you if you're clanking about on steel grating. Then there is the ambient sound, where you can hear nearby guards muttering or whistling (in a great bit of game design, this helps you keep track of them when they're out of sight), torches crackle, and strange ambient screeches echo down hallways. The ambient soundtracks in each level are interesting, and use a lot of electronic synthesiser noises, which gives them an 80s John Carpenter vibe. They help make the environments foreboding, but also help tell the story in a way that 90s graphics simply could not. For example, as you enter the deepest annals of an ultra-religious Hammerite compound, the ambient whirr of machinery gets replaced by solemn choir and hymns. Caves can have dripping water and the occasional crumbling rock, while more twisted forest environments have the endless chirring of insects and chuckling from unseen nymphs and satyrs. The actual sound technology is also really good for the time, because it supports sound cards, even though they aren't used too much anymore. With them enabled, you can listen against a door and gauge how big a room is based on the echo of the guard's voices inside. Even for today that is fairly advanced, and as far as I know, not present in many other games.
youtube
The next game I am looking at is Hunt: Showdown. It is a 2018 horror shooter taking place at the end of the 19th century, where you play as a bounty hunter trying to kill various cryptids and monsters. The game uses the Cry Engine, so it already looks good on a visual front, but the audio is also phenomenal. Most of the quality comes from its directional sound system, which is so specific you can tell where players are through buildings, which is useful for lining up shots when you don't have a good visual read on their whereabouts. Every gun also has a unique sound and echo, which allows an educated player to guess what weapon has been fired, from what direction, and even from what distance. The way that the game calculates sound waves travelling is a very unique and realistic system; a gunshot ringing out over an open field will be louder and clearer than a gunshot fired in the middle of the thick backwoods. I assume this is a built-in feature for CryEngine V because I know of no other games with this level of realism when it comes to sound - I can only assume it calculates for windspeed and other factors and then runs the sound effect through various in-engine filters.
youtube
Finally, I will look at The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. One of the lesser-mentioned qualities of this game is its environmental sound design, which help the various holds of Skyrim seem like realistic places. The wind whistles about your ears, giving you a good sense of your player's altitude and the temperature around you. In the mornings and evenings, you can hear crickets chirring and birds chirping. The rushing of rivers sounds different depending on the course - swelling into a roar of white noise in the rapids, but dissipating to a trickle when the river becomes a lazy stream. Then there are more ethereal sounds, like the creaking of the aurora borealis on winter nights. Towns have their own soundscapes also, with the creaking wood of huts and the crackle of flaming torches. The ambient music by Jeremy Soule (the same guy behind the LOTR soundtrack) also adds a lot to the game's atmosphere, with majestic orchestras making even a simple walk through the valleys a much more emotive and captivating experience. However, you can play with the sound turned off and just listen to the layered soundscapes.
youtube
From my research, I can see that the main theme that makes a soundscape good is attention to detail. Not just having one sword hit sound, for example, but several, altered depending what material you strike, and echoing with a different resonance depending on where you are. I would say that with Wallpaper of the Mind, we have achieved this as best we can in four weeks, with the different footstep surfaces. The sounds I myself provided were more stock quality, but it doesn't matter, because how sound is used mechanically is just as important. I will make a blog post on this soon.

Universal Heacanons
character headcanons that are included in my other works (included V1, V2, Gabriel)
━━━━━━━━━▼━━━━━━━━━
V1 - is unable to speak. they were not programmed with speach in mind due to being a model for war, they are able to understand most languages but do not have any form of voice box - as previously stated they enjoy painting with blood. in a form one might compare to graffiti they tend to paint as a way of tracking where they have been, and for their own enjoyment - their enjoyment of art and painting started as a method of self expression and a form of connection to their creators, as this particular V1 model had only ever seen a handful of humans before arriving in hell - can record and capture photos of things they see, this was yet another vestige from their original purpose. they often record fights with more notable opponents for reference in subsequent battles
V2 - is not inherently programmed with the ability to speak but is equipped with a voice box. i imagine that they were at one time planned to speak however it was not finalised in this model. there are however vestigial limbs of that design plan, and if sounds are uploaded they would be able to speak - after a certain amount of time in hell they do find a way to synthesise speech. it is a bit janky, but once they find a way to speak they don't stop. literally. please shut them up dear god - similar to V1 they have the ability to capture photos of what they see, however their ability to record was removed from this model due to privacy concerns. Unlike V1 V2 rarely takes photos of things, they are still intent that they are leaving hell and want as few reminders of the place as possible - they contain many images and pages of information about human cultures in their databanks which was intended to better inform them about the humans they would be guarding and interacting with, helping them serve their role as bodyguards or security
Gabriel - while i always love seeing other's interpretations of what Gabriel's face look like i do not believe that he has one in a traditional sense. i believe that the armour he wears is actually part of his form, and that removing it would be a sort of beheading him - before his fight with V1 he disliked the sight of blood and gore and avoided being around it as much as he could. it is not as if he couldn't stand it, he simple didn't like to be reminded of the realities of what Heaven's justice looked like for the average person. after his fall from grace, he is no longer phased by it, if anything prefering it to clean surroundings as a reminder to himself that he did the right thing - with the father's light Gabriel was technically immortal, as long as there was some part of him left he would eventually ressurect. as a soldier of god he was designed to be able to fight evil, unlike the council members (which is how they were able to be killed so easily) TW Self Harm v - has not been given many positive ways of dealing with traumatic situations and as such has resorted to using battle as a form of self harm. he sees his physical wounds as a karmic payment for his misdoings ^
━━━━━━━━━▼━━━━━━━━━
many thanks for reading, i will endeavor to update this with my headcanons for other characters where i am able to. as always feel free to send your own headcanons in, i love learning about how others interpret the same characters

hello i recently finished isat (and promptly became fixated SO hard)(as one does) and can i just say your Mind. The way you write sifloop & isiloop has me by the throat, you nail the characters so well and their dynamics are so compelling!! (i didnt really have any questions, i just wanted to send you appreciation/kudos bc my friends and i have been losing our minds over your comics!!)
Thank you !!! Glad to hear my merticulous obsession with trying to backwards engineer stuff that feels in character is paying off.
The only reason it feels so easy (to me) is because of the way the characters are just so well communicated in the game. such strong senses of voice that capturing them is just a matter of really observing it. So I'm always v happy to hear that my depictions feel 'accurate' (allowing for some give-or-take for silly shit to make punchlines land, of course, though jokes are always better in character too...) since that's my explicit goal :) i neeed to inflict other people with my extrapolated and synthesised reads of one of the most fucked up polycules of all time

After reading more of that terrible vocaloid/ vocal synth take, I feel the need to recommend some of my personal favourite songs that use vocaloids, in particular I wanted to show the diversity and range that can be a polished by different producers.
I feel like these are all very basic, but they are just so good.
Pumpkin spice dummy - Momocashew
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CnHtaYiTrVM&pp=ygUTcHVtcGtpbiBzcGljZSBkdW1teQ%3D%3D
Scrap boy - Steampianist
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lgRTbYJ8V5g&pp=ygUJU2NyYXAgYm95
The undertakers daughter - Steampianist
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xVpvRAKD_W0&pp=ygUZdGhlIHVuZGVydGFrZXIncyBkYXVnaHRlcg%3D%3D
Detention teacher - Honeyworks
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k7DayMp2L7Q&pp=ygURZGV0ZW50aW9uIHRlYWNoZXI%3D
The chattering lack of common sense - Ghost
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ksW7SuH6IAs&pp=ygUgY2hhdHRlcmluZyBsYWNrIG9mIGNvbW1vbiBzZW5zZSA%3D
Hyperdontia - Ghost
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=04BqFwERmac&pp=ygUPSHlwb2RlbWlhIGdob3N0
The entirety of the kagerou project by Jin, but specifically Kagerou daze and Ayano’s theory of happiness (this one always makes me tear up)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A7KNYk4f3XQ&pp=ygUMa2FnZXJvdSBkYXpl
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hll18UugDTE&pp=ygUbYXlhbm8ncyB0aGVvcnkgb2YgaGFwcGluZXNz
Similarly, evillious chronicles by Mothy, specifically regret message
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R4shMkF0ymk&pp=ygUOUmVncmV0IG1lc3NhZ2U%3D
Punch it punk - Ferry (every thing Ferry makes is great but this song itches my brain perfectly)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s_lGrcOtzck&pp=ygUNcHVuY2ggaXQgcHVuaw%3D%3D
I’m glad your evil too - PinocchioP
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PLevj9bdRRA&pp=ygUUSW1nYWxkIHlvdXIgZXZpbCB0b28%3D
Villain - Teniwoha (this song holds such a special place in my hear you have no idea)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p9FJXfGHtDA&pp=ygUQdmlsbGFpbiB0ZW5pd29oYQ%3D%3D
Rolling girl - Wowaka, an obvious, but correct, choice.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vnw8zURAxkU&pp=ygUTcm9sbGluZyBnaXJsIHdvd2FrYQ%3D%3D
The blessed messiah and the tower of Ai - Hitoshizuku × Yama
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CiEC329xPos&pp=ygUndGhlIGJsZXNzZWQgbWVzc2lhaCBhbmQgdGhlIHRvd2VyIG9mIGFp
The idea that voice synthesisers are trying to take over human vocals is so dumb, not every song using them even try’s to sound human. It’s such a cool instrument and a great way to tell stories, I don’t like the idea of it being filed down to evil AI.
Saying every song that has ever used a a vocaloid sound exactly the same is just blatantly incorrect. Some vocaloids do sound really similar but different producer put their own style into it and make them sound so unique ( I have included 3 songs that use Vflower and they all have their own special spin on her voice, which is so cool).
An important aspect of vocal synths is human creativity, we wouldn’t have awesome stories like the Kagerou project without real people like Jin thinking them up. Tuning a vocal synth takes so much work it’s incomparable to stupid AI covers.
I really like vocal synths it’s such a cool medium, sorry if this is long I’m very passionate about this.
don't apologise!
never listened to much vocaloid other than what you guys have sent me so i've got these on in the background now <3

Newish Comics:
Taking a break from ploughing through Santa appearances for the week’s comics.
Batman & Robin #3: ahahahaha “dedicated instructors who showed me the deep knowledge of the world”.
Damian. Sweetheart. You were TEN. I have no doubt you learnt a lot of complex things but also firstly you didn’t synthesise everything and secondly you simply didn’t have the TIME to learn ‘everything’.
That done, Bruce please explain socialisation and ‘working on a civilian cover’ to Damian, so he will go to school. Remember civilian covers? And secret identities?
Ooh Man-Bats! (I’m sorry, I’m here in this book for the Bruce and Damian moments, but I don’t actually mind the concept of Shush and White Rabbit? I like that White Rabbit is leaning into the Japanese aesthetics that Damian uses for his art)
Outsiders #1: I hate to say it, but my back is already up. Luke Fox, describing Kate Kane's background as "we both trained under one of the most brilliant tactical minds to ever exist" - are we talking about Jacob Kane? Because I wouldn't call him that. And I wouldn't say that Kate trained under Bruce Wayne.
Also the wig? That was originally Jacob's choice and to help with concealing her identity. If Kate actually had issues with it she would have ditched it years ago.
Not knowing fundamental basics like this about Kate is worrying me (unless there's been some retcon I haven't read yet?)
On the other hand... JENNY SPARKS SIGHTING!!! (Well, her skeleton. Apparently) JENNY MY SWEETHEART.
Tumblr media
...I'm going to give this a go, since it's Kate and since it's MY FAVOURITE JENNY. I'm being cautious though.
Speed Force #1: oh this however is just fun vibes. I think it's our new light-hearted Flash book, with Si Spurrier doing more complex things over in Flash proper.
The Vigil #6: Ram V landed this. I still feel like all of the characters are specific commentary on other DC characters, but watching the team pull together and Castle explain what had been missed was very satisfying in that ‘heist film’ sort of scene where they flip the board and suddenly reveal what was going on.
Wesley Dodds: The Sandman #2: as this is the first Rossmo title I've seriously read, I am appreciating his art and I think getting used to it on a title where I don't have strong feelings about the characters involved will stand me in good stead.
World's Finest: Teen Titans #5: I’ve got to say, I love that the cover is a scene only tangentially related to the plot. Classic silver age vibes. This scene does not occur.
Wally! Love your snark, kid.
Tumblr media
Garth! Surfing on/in Wally’s speed wake!
Tumblr media
Also Dick finally decided reveal his ID.
Warlord #26: this week in Travis Morgan's adventures... DEIMOS IS BACK! Hello, Deimos! Planning to slink around evilly, are you?
Excitingly, Travis gets to fight a two-headed snake necked dragon this issue. Unfortunately this does not result in any bondage. Missed opportunity there, Grell!
This issue we are in a hidden maze temple, where they have to break apart an amulet and fit the pieces into rock niches to illuminate the way via the light bouncing. It is a VERY gaming dungeon sort of plot. However as each piece is fitted, a vision occurs. Travis is directed in how this works by a talking parrot. (A normal one, not an anthropomorphic one)
Travis sees visions of Tara but she's blaming him for betraying her, and given she was staring into a river and sighing over how much she loved and missed him last issue I think we can safely say this is a false vision. (All the visions say nasty things that mostly are guilt nightmares)
Once the maze is complete, Travis is offered the chance to gain his 'heart's desire' by stepping into the light (which has been causing all the terrible visions)
And Travis' wants to start over...so he gets transported back in time (to what looks like Neanderthal times but this IS Skartaris, it could just be last Tuesday)
