why are people weird about factives?

it's not like people can control what their source is.

(well for the most part anyway. apparently some systems have created headmates. i don't know how that works but it does happen. ..that's not my point. sorry)

we have one factive. he's a youtuber and streamer. we don't know the irl guy personally, but as far as we know he's a good person.

but even if he was a bad person, how is that any different from being a fictive who is problematic, or a villain or something?

and sometimes it's not about being sourced from a bad person. sometimes people seem to think just being a factive automatically makes you bad.

i think we should be more considerate about how we talk about introjects

i see a lot of silly posts like "unfortunately we split a fictive" or "enjoying a show trying not to introject a character" and like. it seems kinda rude to assign shamefulness to introjection compared to your brain just splitting someone without a source

i know there's a lot of reasons people feel this way, just saying to keep in mind that this can hurt headmates within your system and outside of it, and can contribute to them feeling unsafe to talk/front or adds to their stress if they feel like they shouldnt exist, both counterproductive to them just, idk healing or enjoying life in general

introjects are just like any other alter.

i see a lot of people be fake claimed for being introject heavy (having a lot of introjects). we are not introject heavy but i think its important to say that whether or not an alter is an introject has no effect on their validity.

a lot of our introjects are uncomfortable being publicly known due to the stigma.

i don't know if I'm the only one who thinks this but I wish it was normal ettiquite to upon meeting a fictive ask how they'd like to be treated, if they are okay with source talk, how they want to be viewed. because sometimes there's people who equate fictives to their source and some of us don't like that. and then there's people who never mention source and some of us don't like that either. normalize actually asking a fictive what their boundaries and feelings are goddamit

some of us want to talk about source forever and ever and ever. some of us want to lurk while other people talk about it (don't end conversations about source if we show up!! aaa!!) some of us only want to talk about source if we initiate the conversation. some of us don't even want to think about that shit. some of us are okay with parts of source and will throw our phone across the room if other parts so much as get mentioned.

it would be so, so nice if we could share those preferences. or we were asked for them.

I kinda wanted to take a second of time and bring up something:

WHY are people so weird about introjects in relationships????

If it's two fictrojects people get mad and accuse you of shipping and roleplaying (bonus if neither of you share a source because that's apparently "proof" you're not trying to "fake right" ????)

If it's two factrojects you get absolutely body slammed and called a weirdo for "shipping" irl people (god forbid one be "popular" and the other be "obscure" because who knows what people will say)

If it's a factroject and a fictroject then good luck because you have to fight both of those accusations at ONCE plus other things (I really have no commentary because I'll go on a LONG rant because that's my situation)

Speaking as someone (a factroject) who's in a relationship (kind of) with a fictroject I just kinda find it upsetting I can't even talk about him and confidently answer any potential Introject questions without getting looked at funny ☹️

I know people are weird about insys dating in general but it's baffling that if sources get involved some people change their tune INSTANTLY

This can apply to partner system things as well but know I'm more or so talking about this in a insys setting

introjects are allowed to be upset when something bad happens to their source, actually!

introjects are also allowed to be upset if you’re rude about their source. I think they’re allowed to be upset at you for being a dick about the very thing that inspired their existence. (within reason)

introjects do not have to source-separate! A certain degree of separation is necessary to function, but asking an introject to just force source separation when they do not want it is not only rude, but also incredibly harmful! It can be really damaging.

source separation is a personal choice! Not a requirement. Hell, some introjects have the emotions and complexities surrounding their source baked into them as a part of how they function and who they are. It’s not possible for every introject to source-separate.

Introjects are allowed to feel strongly about the things that have influenced their existence, whether it be simple loose inspiration or being the exact body and life they lived in. End of discussion.
