WIP Wednesday (6/18) | Vampire Andrew AU (Part 271)

"I am going to kiss you now. Leave your hands where they are," Andrew tells him. Kevin nods, just realizing his hands are out to his sides and pressing into the concrete— seems he'd lost track of them. Andrew huffs a laugh at that, then leans in so slowly Kevin can't tell he's moving until their lips finally touch.

It's a gentle press at first. Chaste. Almost sweet. Kevin goes boneless as Andrew kisses him, slowly. Softly. He kisses back, molding his mouth against Andrew's. At last Andrew licks at the seam of his lips and Kevin parts them easily, letting Andrew's tongue slip into his mouth.

Some part of his brain reminds him Andrew drank from Neil a handful of hours ago, but he can't bring himself to give a single fuck. Instead he just kisses Andrew, again and again, until they're both panting for breath. Andrew pulls back a bit and Kevin tries to chase his lips, but he still has his hand in Kevin's hair. He tugs it, holds him in place.

"Do not think about Neil right now."

"Why?" Kevin asks, a bit lightheaded. "Jealous?"

"No. Because you're mine." Andrew tells him, then he dips his head back down to reclaim Kevin's lips. Kevin isn't sure whether he moans at the statement or at the way Andrew tongue brushes against his own, but it's loud and it's wanton and if anyone's in the parking lot they definitely heard it.

"No one down there." Andrew pulls away to say, quickly diving back in. He shifts slightly on Kevin's lap and Kevin grabs at the concrete for something to hold onto.

WIP Wednesday (5/28)| Mafia Front Restaurant AU (Part 320)

KEVIN

"Neil," Kevin starts. "Can you give us a second?"

"If Neil leaves, I'll leave. I have nothing to say to you." Andrew says, and Neil settles back into his seat before he can move to stand.

"You can talk in front of me. I know everything already. It's not a big deal," Neil tells him in French. Kevin watches the way Andrew watches Neil and something tightens in his chest, Jean was right. Kevin has not got the emotional bandwidth to acknowledge it so he lets it float past and goes to pull up a chair from a nearby table. He should be on Andrew's level for this, he thinks. He sits down and folds his hands in his lap, unsure of exactly what he needs to say.

"I'm sorry," is what he settles on. Andrew's head jerks in his direction like he'd forgotten Kevin was on the planet, let alone in the room.

"For what?"

"Leaving."

"No." Andrew says with a tiny shake of his head. Kevin can do nothing but parrot it back.

"…No?"

"You didn't just leave. You disappeared. Without a trace. In the middle of the night. You did not answer your phone. You did not leave me a note. You vanished." Andrew's voice drips with fury and poison. Kevin almost wants to hide from it, from Andrew. Because he recognizes this tone as one usually accompanied by a blade. Instead he just looks down the tile. He can't argue with the facts. He's guilty. Andrew's right.

"Like a hit." Neil says after the three of them marinate in the truth for a moment. Kevin jerks towards him, shocked, but Neil is looking at Andrew with something complicated on his face. "You thought—?"

"That he got kidnapped and killed and dismembered the moment I took my eyes off him? Yes. I did." Andrew answers. He says it to Neil, not Kevin. He won't even look in Kevin's direction as he continues. "For fifty-one days I had to live with the fact that I got him murdered. Then all of a sudden he was alive and well, in California of all places! Still no call. Still no note. Still no 'Sorry, Andrew. I didn't mean to make you think I was dead'. Nothing. Just an announcement that he was signing with USC. A big middle finger to me and the team that kept him alive when he was just a smashed little bird with no nest to return to. There one minute and gone the next! What a magician's assistant he could be."

Guilt starts to eat the lining of Kevin's stomach and his voice box refuses to work so he just sits there like a fool in the face of Andrew's admission. He thought Kevin was dead? And he cared?

I just keep thinking about Neil saying he thinks he would leave everyone behind in an apocalypse type scenario and how I don’t think thats true!!! I think he believes its true but i think when put in a life threatening scenario he would do what it takes to protect everyone he knows!! Like there is a reason wymack saw that neil was captain material! He cares about people! Hes a meddler!!! He pushed at aaron and andrew in a way no one else would!! He made kevin give renee jean’s number!!! He didn’t have to do that!!! He was mad as hell at kevin for making him go on kathy’s show and they only just got over the columbia of it all but neil steps up to defend kevin against riko!! He cares!!!! So much!!!! He took out a hit on evil grayson because he cares for jean!!!!! I love him

"none. they're american." "hey." "you barely count. don't waste your time feigning offence". thinking about "jean's french. he brings out the violence in people every time he opens his mouth". thinking about neil encouraging jean to exercise his freedom and live his own life. thinking about "so was elodie". thinking about jean echoing neil's words after grayson's death. thinking about "you do not have to trust him. i do." and then ten seconds later, "that ill-bred child is not my friend". thinking about jean trying to snatch the cigarettes out of andrew's hand and saying, "you were barely fast enough to save him last time. the next time someone takes a swing at him, you and your brisket lungs will have to watch him die. i wouldn’t have GIVEN HIM TO YOU if i’d known you would just throw him away so carelessly." thinking about jean calling neil and neil actually picking up. thinking about neil bringing up jean's broken ribs in an interview and jean calling him a "rancid menace". thinking about jean watching neil take a hit and holding his own ribs because he remembers how it felt. thinking about jean with his hands to the tv screen as he watched neil on the floor. thinking about neil's voice in jean's head at the end of the book, "the rules have changed".
