I did some Mistletoe requests for the Temphere party over on my other blog, so in the spirit of my recently completed romance story about the origins of Wagner and Fen's relationship, here's the star crossed loverboys under the mistletoe.

If you love me, please open the image in another tab to fullview it, there is a lot of detail that tumblr shrunk into oblivion.
So! I decided that this year I want to get better about practicing my backgrounds, because I hate backgrounds and never draw them if I can get away with it. XD In service of this goal, I enlisted the help of my friends Tiger and Rabbit, who will take turns with me each month in choosing a scene from one of the many collaborative stories we've written together for me to draw. And I have to give it a detailed background.
For the first contribution to this project, Tiger chose a scene from one of the recent sessions of the Temphere campaign- our party's ranger, Anther, had spent um… a lot of turns grappled by a grick thanks to some bad rolls both to attack and to break the grapple. Cree, who'd been distracted by another Grick for most of the fight, turned her attention to Anther and used the spell Heat Metal to turn Anther's rapier white-hot; a side-effect of this spell is that any creature holding the object has to make a constitution save or drop it. Anther chose to fail the save, but because the grick was holding her and also in contact with the rapier, it had to roll CON and failed. This was a pretty funny scenario, not least of which because in our other campaign Rabbit has utilized a similar damaging spell, thorn whip, to break allies out of grapple. XD
The wolf in the background is an NPC we were escorting at the time, Ryth, who as a fun aside was kicking absolute ass during the fight thanks to some bonkers good rolls, such to the point that we kept joking he was channeling Kiba from Wolf's Rain and had "the power of god and anime on his side."
Next month is my birthday, so it's my turn to pick the scene!

Engarde, @anthertheranger !
For those who don't follow my main blog, I am participating in Art Fight again this year! For my first piece I attack fellow Temphere campaign player with this depiction of an incredibly fun solo scene for Anther. She snuck out of town in the middle of the night to find traps being laid by the monster hunters that were after our ward, a wolf-were called Vandoryth.
Feel free to follow me on Art Fight if you like, I go by Shinkoryu14!

Another year, another birthday for my dear friend @tigerwriter! The Temphere Campaign has brought so many colorful characters, and they are always a blast to see hanging out, interacting, and helping us make the story of our D&D campaign great! Here's to another year of Temphere, and another year of us being friends. < 3

Name: Cree
Pronouns: She/Her
Flags: Lesbian
Native Canon: D&D Temphere Campaign
From one gay dragon to another! A feature of my queer characters would never be complete without Cree Let-Me-Immediately-Session-One-Flirt-With-This-Female-Dragonborn-NPC Dungeons and Dragons. She's been getting art almost every pride since her campaign started, so of course I had to feature her here! Hilariously, the rainbow scales are not a bit of pride flair- she literally has those in-game thanks to warlock pact shenanigans. But I am not going to look a gift rainbow in the mouth!

I trip, hundreds of pictures of Wagner fall out of my jacket.
So fun fact; waaaaay back in the early days of the Temphere campaign, when D&D was still new to me, I was hyperfocused on it and kept coming up with ideas for new characters. One such was this naive, well meaning noble boy who was an Oath of the Crown paladin searching for his missing twin sister. I jokingly complained to our DM, Tiger, about the eternal D&D player problem of too many characters, not enough campaigns, and she suggested that I could possibly run a campaign, and use the character ideas as NPCs.
Four years later, the boyo who my brain attached to so hard that I started running an entire D&D campaign just so that he could exist somewhere outside of my brain finally gets to show up in person in the plot. We needed so buildup before an actual, honest to god prince started bumping shoulders with the adventuring party of low class misfits, and I also wanted to make sure the plot was firmly established and the PC characters in control of their stories before Wagner showed up so he wouldn't accidentally become a DMPC- but it is very cathartic to get to finally introduce him!

So Cree recently multi-classed into Warlock! I'm hella excited about it, this is going to be a lot of fun both in meta and in story!
Speaking of in-story, Cree forgot about the fact that in Temphere canon warlocks tend to get some sort of very visible, very obvious "mark" from their patron. Like Medea and Kindrin having very brightly colored hair from their Fey patrons. So Cree's patron, a sun spirit with rainbow powers, has made her iridescent!
She'll adjust. =)

I had originally intended to finish this for the birthday of my very dear friend @tigerwriter-art. Then I was offered a job in another city, and having to move and start in the new position threw my timeline wildly out of kilter, resulting in this being almost a month late. But I was determined to see it finished!
Tiger, you are an amazing person, and you've stuck with me through the good times and the bad. Together we've told countless fun and engaging stories, and you never cease to impress and entertain me with how fabulous of a writer you are. Here is just a small sampling of your awesome characters in (belated) honor of your special day. Much gushing under the cut.
Qlu- The aaracockra tailor NPC from the Temphere campaign. I thought about drawing Hush, but we always draw Hush to rep you for that campaign and I thought you might enjoy seeing someone different! Qlu has a ton of personality and passion, and is always great fun to talk to whenever he appears in a scene.
Shadowstep - The mischievous deinonychus from Naelus: The Isle of Mist. The raptors were still great characters, full of snark and big of ego. Their jovial but fiercely loyal natures were a blast to play against, and Shadowstep's gentle chiding to keep his headstrong mate Driftstone in line was always entertaining.
Leif - The OG, the first character of yours I had the pleasure of reading and interacting with, the archmage of House Jade from Medieval. It has been a joy to see this character's growth over the years, from a short tempered, antisocial loner who likes birds more than he likes people to a compassionate person who helps others as much as he is able (though still with a short temper and a fondness for birds, because it wouldn't be Leif otherwise). And of course, I had to include his black-shouldered kite Ayleth, because it wouldn't be Leif without one of his raptors.
Harper - The half-alien teenager from Wrighton: Strange Memories. Can I just take a minute to enthuse about how well you wrote this character? They read very much as a realistic, believable teenager. They understood serious, heavy situations and treated them with the appropriate gravitas, but also had times where they could be mulish and immature. It was always fun to see what they were going to do next, and their more childish point of view helped bring levity at times to my far-too-serious character from the same story.
Iskender - The sapient, super-powered, talking Turkish Angora cat from Hero City: Capital of Justice. The fluffy white cat who isn't just there for the supervillain to stroke, but IS the supervillain, and in fact the boss of the supervillains. Clearly a delightful character in concept alone, but Iske was also a blast to play against. Gleefully evil, he delighted in everything from orchestrating the break-in of high security government test facilities to shedding on the sofa just because he was told to stay off it.
Metastophelous - The demonic parole officer from Mafia 2 & 3. Technically an older character than Leif, but I wouldn't meet him until much later, lol. A 4th wall shattering, scathingly sarcastic agent of divine retribution, as like to make critical remarks about your writing as on the mafioso ghost he was in charge of. He's always got a fun take on any given situation, delights in watching his repentant sinner struggle, but also genuinely wants him to succeed and shows no such callousness towards the innocent. An enjoyably complex, nuanced take on the typical "demon who punishes sinners" trope.
Doryen - Last but certainly not least, the lizardfolk sorcerer from the Thrrasir Campaign. Often the voice of reason (considering his party members are either too idealistic for their own good or swing hard into the "neutral" end of the morality spectrum in their suggested approaches to problem solving) and yet delightfully short-tempered such to the point that it's almost a meme at this point for him to exclaim "can we just fight you already?" to monologuing villains. I look forward to seeing how he continues to grow as the campaign progresses.
Happy belated birthday, Tiger. < 3 Hope this year is a good one to you.

So @rabbitthewriter started running a mini-adventure for the group while the longer Temphere and Thrrasir campaigns are on break for the holidays. This is my character for that adventure, which had it’s first session tonight!
Meet Da’yainee; metatextualy they’re a warforged paladin, but in universe they are a copper statue that was animated with holy magic to protect a temple centuries before the story starts. Eventually the civilization that owned the temple fell to ruin and the people left, leaving Da’yainee abandoned. Magically programmed to protect the temple, they could never leave, so they spent hundreds of years wandering the wilderness reclaiming the city and guarding the ruins from nonexistent enemies. Eventually they realized that as long as they were technically still protecting at least part of the temple, they could leave the forest and go do something less boring with their life. So, armed with a single brick to satisfy the letter of their programming, they’ve ventured out to see the world!
Neither the scarf nor the belt are original parts of the statue, as you might guess; Da’yainee picked them up on their travels.

Long story short, Cree’s player designed a new outfit for her, since it’s nearing winter in Temphere, and it has a purple cape. Obviously, Anther also wears a purple cape, so they’re matching. :D Anther would not care about Cree wearing a cape, but the scenario was just too good not to draw.
Cree belongs to @creethebard
