WELP IM BACK ON MY BULLSHIT AGAIN

Original Bumblebee’s stuck in the shatter glass universe where his bio dad, Megatron, is actually a cool dude and obviously nothing bad could come from this, right?

Right?

Pffftttt

Let’s talk SG Megatron for a second… his perspective is very different from OG Megatron. He knows in his universe that Goldbug and Cliffjumper are his children, he knows that they want nothing to do with him, that they hate him— they’ve been raised by Optimus and have adopted the majority of his views on things. They one hundred percent believe that Megatron betrayed them and their carrier in the end, or something like that. They’ve got a SG transformers one origin type beat, so I’m still fussing out the details…

But the point: Megatron knows they’re his kids and the guilt he feels at failing them is immense. He’s hates seeing what they’ve become, and he is very lenient with them, always trying to convince them that they can be better, do better, but it falls on deaf ears.

So when OG Bumblebee shows up?

It’s a can of worms.

Bumblebee is everything that Megatron hopes Goldbug can become. Realistically, logically, he knows that Bumblebee isn’t “his” kid— he’s from a different reality, etc… but like he is his kid. And he struggles with the dissonance between his reality and what could be… he loves Goldbug just as much as he loves Bumblebee, he has no desire to replace Goldbug in his heart, but it certainly comes off that way when he interacts with Bee.

And it’s kind of what he’s doing, because he has started to lose hope of Goldbug or Cliffjumper ever seeing his side of things.

It’s a mess and he’s supposed to the wiser adult in this situation, but damn is this hashing open old wounds and making already open ones deeper.

And further more, Megatron has been trying to move on with his life. Not from the war I mean, but accept that the love of his life isn’t who he thought he was, and getting over those old wounds. Perhaps he was starting to fall for another mech and this happens and fuck all the progress is just GONE—

And well… once Cliffjumper arrives, it will be a whole other mess.

I haven’t seen anyone comment on how Bee’s battle mask makes him look like his Goldbug redesign from the final season of the original cartoon.

I get it, Bee’s cute, yay he’s in the movie… but the possible implications of the Goldbug head, I’m really hoping it’s just an Easter Egg for us old farts and not a switcheroo.

We didn’t like it back in the eighties Hasbro, ain’t no one gonna like it now, enough with the Goldbug already. It ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

So… Goldbug often shows up in cannon after Bee has died and gets brought back

And uhh, Bee was “dead” for 15 years in EarthSpark

Stands to reason that 15 years of isolation where you’re banned from contact with ANYONE (subsequently being forced to suffer the guilt of knowing all your loved ones think you’re dead) after several thousand years of war AND another unspecified time stuck alone on Cybertron fighting for your life, may drive one a little insane…

quick design for fun

i wanted to make a more "aggressive" bumblebee design ig. Bumblebees aren't that hostile unless in danger so i wanted to go off of his VW beetle design, adding inspiration from the Bombardier Beetle as their species is more temperamental. I also wanted to make a more "modernized" version of the character, using the latest version of the Beetle model. (the convertible one made in 2019 as it was discontinued) Also transformers remind me of bugs so lalala... girl I have no idea what I'm doing I'm just making shit 😭

if they ever bring back bumblebee in the skybound continuity, i want him to be goldbug. like bee has no face rn, so the only way to make him function would be to give him a new head. you know who has a different head than bee? GOLDBUG. also i think it’d be funny if goldbug came online with little to none of bees memories, and not in a “something’s missing” way. as a treat for optimus

Any ideas for sg megatron and op?

I haven't thought a lot about Optimus in sg since he would just be a mcguffin for Cliffjumper to get ran over again (Motormaster is dead so Cliffjumper can't just ask him to run him over). Whenever I imagine Megatron I imagine a big looming shadow that regular people just don't get to see, Sg Meg's would be more available but Starscream is always by his side speaking for him, in a mutual and non-schemey way.
