It's not even a joke anymore I need to see Mey Rin.
#and my finny and bard i wonder how they're going to look in this new animation style#i don't usually care about animation styles per se like it's not something i bitch about but i don't love the animation this season per se:(#sometimes it's really really pretty but also sometimes i am like that's not how ciel and especially sebastian look :(#sebastian looks really pretty but sometimes he doesn't feel like sebastian? i like when sebastian was all pointy#i think sebastian should look like this is junjou romantica.#but aside from that i think the tone is a smidgen off from the manga? like the way certain things are animated are not as goofy as the manga#when usually i don't feel a weird imbalance there sometimes it lands now and sometimes it doesn't#oh back to the original point i wish we had done an obligatory house episode ik the arc is just like this in the manga but uh so was circus#we're in the same situation where it's been so many years since the anime has been on air AND we are in a situation where we got 11 eps...#...out of this arc i think it would have made perfect sense to have a house episode with everyone#bc at its heart black butler is about the house ciel has made and the bit they all have going there#everything bad happens now bc he goes out of the house!! the house is the safe space control group type of environment#that's part of why the murder arc is so fun bc everyone there is in complete control of it and ciel's a stay at home not talk guy#everything outside of the house is fake! that's why it's the bit that they're pretending to be fake inside!#that's necessary to orient you to this story and ciel but whatever anyway 😔#small gripes that pick at me occasionally i just haven't had the time or mental space to voice them here#kuroshitsuji#my kuro posts

okay hear me out: Tortall animated series that starts with daine and doesn’t get to alanna until season five
season one: daine 1&2
season two: daine 3&4
season three: kel 1&2
season four: kel 3&4
season five: alanna 1&2
season six: alanna 3&4
season seven: aly 1&2
this is the hearing me out part
if you start with daine, the whisperman plot gets way. more. fun. with chronological order, you know george is the spymaster and it’s funny thinking of everyone being so afraid of our sweet murder babe george
if you do it with daine first, you can draw that out. you could even have the whisperman and george cooper as separate identities, like whisperman is Known and Scary, but george cooper? nah he’s just alanna’s goofy husband. it could come out at the end of daine’s seasons, or kel could find out some info she doesn’t know what it means but the Clues are right there and you could pull it all the way to the kel’s second season with the smuggler reveal when they’re crossing the river to rescue the kids
and the difference between young george and old george and getting to see this guy we know to be pretty cool and friendly being Super Dark and legit murdering people and the whole king of thieves arc, getting all this background on alanna and george once we already love them
and just think about how wild the jon and alanna theories would be after four seasons
and then like the absolute tragedy of their romance is heightened even more bc we’ve met their lovely spouses and sweet children and know they’re both happy
seeing everyone young would be really fun too, like how they did in queen charlotte or this is us, where you know the character and where they end up but not how they got there and the fun is finding out. in the books we know raoul and gary and jon are dorks and it’s cute watching them be grownups, it would be equally cute seeing these Vast Impressive men as little boys laughing at fart jokes
like imagine when you figure out the cat laying at the goddess’s feet in season two is the same kitten she gives to alanna in season five i would start Bawling and then at the end knowing how faithful dies??? Dead. Gone.
daine’s books get going quicker, which i think is important for tv. the suspense of it all, not knowing what’s happening to daine, why she has these powers. learning her secret, that she almost lost herself, would be a ‘the storm’ moment like in atla with aang and zuko’s backstories. and then the immortals war is just visually very appealing especially in a animation format, i mean stormwings? so. cool.
thoughts?
#i may have thought about this a lot#tamora pierce#tortall books#tortall#alanna the lioness#daine#veralidaine sarrasri#kel#protector of the small#the immortals quartet#animation tv#i stg if i could draw this would be made#edited: i fixed some wording#but i stand by all of this#gimme money and will make it happen#if there’s one thing i would be good at it’s making tv shows#and i added another george paragraph bc i wasn’t done#i love him#i know he is not a main character i am just so in love with him i don’t think it matters#but that as a secret i think would be an important part of the new order#and like having a consistent mystery thing to theorize about and drop clues and shit

I wonder why did Tobirama created Edo Tensei what's your thoughts?
i've seen a lot of people toss around theories tying edo tensei to tobirama's deceased family members and... i'll be honest i think that's absolute horseshit.
edo tensei is a weapon, it was always meant to be one. ignoring the fact that we actually know very little about tobirama's relationships with his non-hashirama family members, pretty much everything about edo tensei screams "weapon". i understand people wanting to assign good intentions to their special little guy but... well, as i've said before, i find fandom's version of tobirama to be deeply uninteresting, so i do not especially share those inclinations
(before anyone gets mad at me, i am even more scornful of anyone trying to boil down madara's goals as "just wanting his baby brother back". no. stop that. jail for one thousand years)
tobirama is a rationalist, and edo tensei is imo the epitome of a hardcore rationalist's technique. one thing that basically everyone in the series agrees on is "look how fucked up this jutsu is" - it's deadly, ruthlessly effective, and morally horrible on every level.
we're introduced to edo tensei by orochimaru back in the peak of his villain era, and the whole point seems to be to highlight how morally bankrupt he is. he murders two of his own loyal subordinates - who are both children, mind you - to disturb the rest of two dead heroes (to konoha lol) to fight his own teacher/substitute father figure, seemingly bc he's salty about his mad science playtime being disturbed and/or bc he's salty about getting passed over for hokage (we later learn that neither of those are entirely accurate but that's neither here nor there)
my best guess is that tobirama created it - or at least finished his version of it, which orochimaru and then kabuto improved upon - for the first world war. i've mentioned somewhere else that i doubt tobirama was actually hokage for all that long; i think he became hokage shortly before the start of the war (that's just my hc tho) and as we know he died shortly before the end of it. during that timeframe is when i typically place him having created/finished the jutsu and then having declared it a kinjutsu not long after bc. duh.
pretty much anyone who knows anything about this technique fucking hates it. the exceptions being orochimaru and kabuto, bc they're little weirdos who like causing drama, but even orochimaru pokes fun at it at tobirama's expense when he summons him in the war arc. someone - i think muu - called it "the second hokage's despicable technique" or something like that, which led to tobirama getting the nickname "hiretsu-sama" (lord despicable) in the japanese fandom (seemingly used very affectionately by his fanbase)
so, why invent edo tensei? well.... you kill one enemy, kill a second enemy to revive the first one onto your side, and now you have all of the first enemy's techniques plus you've got an emotional advantage over your remaining enemies who have attachments to your new puppet, and also said puppet can't die. we see this with madara - he even implies that this was part of the intent of the jutsu's creation - when he nukes himself and muu alongside a chunk of the allied shinobi forces bc it literally doesn't matter if anything happens to them. they don't even feel it (madara voice: boooooooooo)
it's a brutally effective weapon. i just wish the series had gone a little more into what that says about tobirama (aside from "i told you this jutsu was no good" "SHUT UP ELDER BROTHER" (not exact dialogue; unusually for me i actually don't have volume 65 on my person today))
#naruto#naruto shippuden#senju tobirama#kuchiyose: edo tensei#edo tensei#i think we should call him lord despicable more too btw i think that's an excellent nickname#but yeah tobirama's relationships with his family are mostly exclusive to fanon#imo these are his most important relationships in order: danzou hiruzen madara homura/koharu naruto/minato hashirama mito#at least from tobirama's side of things. his relationship with hashirama is fairly important to hashirama's character but less so vice vers#i'm putting danzou ahead of hiruzen but they should probably be tied#and mito is only there at all bc i think it's interesting that tobirama is one of the few characters who even mentions she existed#there should be several blank spaces between hashirama and mito lol#meta#long post

Sorry, I know you don’t really like people bringing up Jason but I’m very curious. I read Straight on Till Morning several times before really joining Tumblr and I was surprised by how much you seem to dislike him compared to how nicely he was written in said fic. Is it cuz it’s a future fic so he can be more chilled out than in current comics or something?
Feel free to ignore me if you want. Curiosity does not owe me answers.
no worries, i don't mind polite questions! :P
so there's two things. a) sotm was written when the only real comics i'd read were sb94, yj98, tt03, batgirl (2000), and nightwing '96 (iirc - i might be forgetting one or two but the point is, when i was pretty new to comics). at this point wfa had tricked me into thinking jason actually had a consistent character arc that i simply hadn't read yet, and i assumed it would be weird to write a fic where dick, tim, and cass were all around as kon's friends + damian was there being jon's friend in the background, but jason didn't get mentioned, so i worked him in bc i thought that was like. gonna be weird if i didn't, even tho i didn't know what he was doing in postcrisis yet. i mostly just wanted to write about kon and did not yet have the strong "actually i do not care for 99% of post-rebirth comics" feelings i have today. if i were to do the sotm rewrite in my mind, jason would actually still be in his villain to antivillain era because that's my actual favorite era of him. i think it's fun when he's hanging around being like... a vengeful ghost who's just determined to make his problems Everyone's Problem. i'm not really interested in soft angsty daddy's boy jtodd or whatever sdkjfh and that seems to be the most popular version of him i see. it's either soft angsty daddy's boy jason or it's power fantasy cop-adjacent jason who has never done anything wrong in his life and is completely valid in every decision he's ever made. neither of these interests me.
which brings me to b) it's not so much that i dislike jason todd as a character so much as that his fans are so fucking annoying to me. that chapter of sotm? multiple people in the comments were there ONLY to talk about jason, even though the fic is literally about kon and not about jason and he just happens to appear for PART of one scene that chapter. it made me get sick of hearing about him. like theres soooo many jason todd fics out there can you go read those. i want to talk about kon! and i've had people bring him up on my completely unrelated fics too like he doesn't even get MENTIONED like one fic is about clark kon and tim, and someone was in the comments like "omg i bet clark was thinking about jason here" and i was so ... dude. read the room. or the fic even. it is not about him.
but even more than the way a lot of jason fans have this apparently compulsive need to make him the main character of the entire universe, i really can't stand how many of them i've seen spout literal straight up copaganda and/or defense of the death penalty. like they will bend over backwards so hard to defend why he was right to put 8 heads in a duffel bag or why it's morally correct to kill rapists that they start spewing right-wing talking points. and the constant need to make him the perfect imperfect victim ("he's angry and loud unlike GOOD victims--") and all of that just... it really turns me off of 99% of fan content about him that i've seen. it makes me genuinely kind of uncomfortable. like if you think there's a category of criminal that it's okay to execute (without a trial, even) i want nothing to do with you. can you guys just say it's sexy when a man is covered in blood after murdering a room full of people without having to be like "and he was right to do it too!!" because i promise he was not. and if you SAY any of this people will come up with a whole thing about how you must hate victims and/or poor people or some shit. its... really something.
all of that being said - i think there are interesting things you COULD do with his character. i think he can be a fascinating character! with stories worth telling! the family tragedy, the horror story, the vengeful ghost! but at this point with how rancid i find his fanbase i just really only want to see jason takes from people i know will not start spewing copaganda at me + people who i know appreciate tim kicking him in the balls (bc he kicked dick in the balls and tim is a bitch).
anyways. bring back tentatodd 2k25 who's with me

i haven’t played the quest but i’m very curious why you’d think it sucks ass (will read ur reply after i play it if u do respond. no pressure!)
honestly i can't even pinpoint a specific thing for me it was just that the overall execution was really bad? or unpolished. it felt like reading/playing through a rough draft/bullet point summary of something that could have been good if executed with more care and given like at least 2 or 3 acts to actually flesh itself out. like i actually liked the start of it but then the story really started speedrunning out of nowhere.
i am genuinely undecided if the story itself was truly "bad" bc it's different from the bad i felt with natlan's aq/everyone loves mavuika shit. there were several points with a lot of potential/interest but they just glossed over everything, which is like. the exact opposite of what people were hoping for out of this story. but those potentially good points might only be there bc of the literal YEARS of lore to build up to this point. so to see it be glazed over and "resolved" in such a half hearted way makes it feel almost insulting lol.
more specific spoilerly things under the cut
evil durin not actually getting to resurrect and at best do some goofy villain mimic murder framing shit was such a cop out. i want to SEE the evil dragon damn it and clearly now we never will!!!!
the resolution with mini durin in general just felt like such a cop out ending it COULD have been good if that entire part was fleshed out more, but little dude just showed up at the end and said yeah let's do this!!!!!!!
I also feel like evil durin wasn't really given like. a chance? he was described as an angry child and then completely waved off as a completely evil entity that must die/fuse with mini "good" durin. I feel like previous arcs gave him a lot more nuance (ESPECIALLY from subject 2 parallels and simulanka/mini durin's entire existence) that was just ignored so we could have a clear bad guy to blame everything on
actually ties in with my above point about never getting to see the evil dragon. I feel like we never truly confront durin which kind of felt like. should have been the Big Thing that happens in albedo's story but nah
they really bamboozled us with the trailer lol it painted a compleeeeeetely different picture from what actually ended up happening like all those bad ass scenes with albedo looking all menacing and shit? tame af and a completely different context in the actual quest
i wouldn't have hated the "reveal" that the whole murder set up was actually a long term plan to lure out evil durin if it was revealed more subtly... and maybe if so many people weren't actually in on it/figured it out... i was actually enjoying the quest up until the fake herta scene and then it just went into a dump of "no yeah we expected this" and then speedran the rest like. okay? glad everything went according to your perfect plan albedo
mondstadt invasion sequence felt so poorly implemented and animated lol but it could have been good if it was even half of what the natlan invasion sequence was like (genuinely the only thing natlan did well). like damn give it at least one proper cutscene that actually makes it look like the city is being invaded
I did like the idea of rotating through the different playable characters defending the city but again implemented so poorly i did not feel any urgency with it. also please never make me play an amber/mika duo ever again
also didn't help that they spent pretty much the entire invasion info dumping the main lore points that led up to this situation like please show don't tell
venti felt somewhat. out of character? in a way that rubbed me the wrong way. like he was too involved. made a lot of things too convenient. or like. it's a bit too common knowledge now that he's barbatos? not exactly sure what it was but I actually did not enjoy venti's presence for once
i liked the hexenzirkel trials bit and that boss fight is fun but it felt like we spent 5 seconds there. there should have at least been a domain leading up to the boss
also spent like 5 seconds speedrunning the resolution with mini durin like okay.......... sure.............. #alchemyYay
honestly everything that happened after the fake herta scene felt like a blur of a nothingburger that also somehow had a lot of lore in it but all the interesting parts of that lore happened off screen so it's really nothing
could literally hear someone yelling in the background of this quest going "OKAYYYY WRAP IT UP MOVE IT ALONG WE GOT OTHER SHIT TO DO"
stop dropping interesting one-liners of lore at the end of quests!!! what do you MEAN rhinedottir ate the ruler of life!!!!!

thoughts on OMITB
yeah my family mainlined the entirety of Only Murders in the Building (3 ten-episode seasons) and I have thoughts and its my blog
This show had SO MUCH AGAINST IT from the onset. I'm too old to have seen Selena Gomez's run as a teenage actor. Worse, I have never in my life found Martin Short or Steve Martin funny. I truly mean that, I have never understood the appeal and eventually just assumed they were part of the early SNL school of comedy, i.e. only every fifth joke lands.
AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT this is gonna sound ridiculous but I didn't know the premise of the show was literally and actually "three people bond over their love of True Crime Podcasts and then decide to start their own podcast about a murder in their apartment building"
I had no idea that was the pitch
I fucking hate True Crime as a genre. I am one of those people who think its a deeply dehumanizing and unethical from top to bottom. so an ENTIRE SHOW about three huge enthusiasts who then make their own?
The deck could not have been more stacked against this fucking show.
AND I DO HAVE SOME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SHOW. Let me get those out of the way:
god the cameos make me roll my eyes out of my head. i do not get a thrill out of people playing themselves. I find it super false and annoying. (exception: okay Sting was funny bc he hates dogs and was a legitimate suspect for the murder for like five minutes, lmao)
some of the jokes in the show have a "please clap" vibe to them, and no i will not clap. be funny or gimme more fun character drama.
is that it???
oh yeah a big one: Oliver not being bisexual is so fucking baffling and I just do not buy it.
OKAY BACK TO WHY I LOVE THIS FUCKING SHOW
this show cares so much about its characters and you can say that about a lot of shows but OMITB has two specific skills it deserves kudos for:
ONE: even tho Mabel, Oliver, and Charles are the focus of the show, all the secondary and tertiary characters are important and consistent and are brought back over and over. Like Howard, who in S1 is the Gay Cat Guy and in S2 gets multiple moments of focus for him asking a neighbor out and in S3 is in almost every episode and is Oliver's assistant. The fact the show cares enough to give non-focal characters whole arcs to go through really sells the idea of the Arconia as community of people.
TWO: THE FUCKING ABILITY OF THIS SHOW TO MAKE YOU LOVE DEEPLY FLAWED, OFTEN ASSHOLISH PEOPLE.
the fucking FLEX that is "The Last Day of Bunny Folger" holy shit. for an entire season, Bunny was this constant nuisance no one liked, then she died, and over the course of one episode that doesn't try to REDEEM her, it just shows MORE of her, I was so fucking invested. And they did the same shit with Ben Gilderoy, it's amazing.
OMITB cares so much about having COMPASSION for everyone and treating all of them like people. There is no one who is purely contemptible
another thing I love is the trio and the various dynamics
all three of them together are adorable and the way they grow to deeply love each other is great. but also the way oliver and charles drive each other nuts and needle each other <3 and how mabel and charles really CARE about trusting each other and how fast they get invested <3 but MABEL AND OLIVER i love them they are hilarious and wonderful and just heighten each other's bullshit
oh my god and the way the show lets each of them have complex backstories and working thru shit. Charles' struggle with his neuroses and years of rejection, Oliver's connection with his son and how he almost throws a case bc he's in love with Meryl Streep (fair), and Mabel being mean and distant and aloof and it all having a REASON
okay fuck this is so long, some quick hits
Theo Dimas is genuinely the best character in the show, the moment he turns to the camera and signs "People in this city talk way too much" was like the moment i was IN on the show for good. thank GOD they keep bringing him back, he's the fucking best.
NATHAN FUCKING LANE AS TEDDY DIMAS, WHAT A FUCKING PERFORMANCE, HOLY SHIT.
wow so many fucking queer people. Mabel, Howard, Jan, Jonathan, Cliff, Jerry, Sazz, Detective Williams and her wife, Alice, and i think Zoe and Uma might be but I'm not sure.
ranking of Mabel's love interests: Oscar (who is great) > Alice (who sucks) > Tobert (boringggg)
the fucking wardrooooobes
the SETS!!!!!!!!!!
selena gomez' rack in the penultimate episode of season 3 holy shit WOW those tits
CHARLES' CAREER-LONG STUNT DOUBLE IS SAZZ, A HOT LESBIAN PLAYED BY JANE LYNCH WHO DOUBLED FOR HIM EVEN IN SEX SCENES AND IS SO MAGNETIC SHE KEEPS ACCIDENTALLY STEALING HIS GIRLFRIENDS
okay i'm done, omitb is good

@vir-athim asked for A, B, I & K 😊
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
I'm just really into the murderous hellscape that is Marazhai Aezyrraesh atm . Turning him into my bitch is fun
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind
Probably solavellan? I loved Solas in my first ever playthrough but because he's restricted to a female elf and I nearly always play as a male character, I couldn't romance him. I also found solavellans really fucking annoying. Which... they are for the most part lmao
The rigid heteronormativity that people force onto this very queer coded character and the 5 million blonde hair Mythal vallaslin Ellanas appearing in fanworks didn't sell it much either.. Then I romanced him with my nonbinary Lavellan one playthrough and now I'm hooked on that bald bitch annoying fandom be damned
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I mean I was never a die hard fan of this show but the 911 fandom is lk insufferable. I love Buck and the general batshittery of the plots, which were the main reasons I got into it. I also fell in love with Hen and Karen and Maddie. But the 'buddie' people make the fandom impossible to enjoy being in... They are full on deluded that they are going to make these two a thing when they're literally just being baited like dogs by the showrunners. I also just got sick of not being able to enjoy anything in fandom without having people shit all over Buck's character development bc it's not catering to their delusions enough
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
I'd say Fenris. Call it first drafty if you will but I honestly can't find much fault with his writing or character arc. I think Zevran also had some great writing even though he often gets relegated to comic relief. Traumatised elves are my thing I guess

"Do you think The Muppet Joker would like you?"
Mupp no. And I don't think I would like having a 5+ minute long conversation with them either.
I am a BIG, HUGE, GINORMOUS sucker for TMJ, it is a wonderful character developed in such an interesting way, I love it. The character arcs are interesting, her interests are fun and I am my self interested in many think TMJ likes/has liked.. but the reality is that Kermit is a bad person. I do not think that there is no possibility of a redemption arc later on, but right now, the ways Kermit goes about life, their every moves and the way he interacts with people is not only very asshole ish, but also dangerous (both phisicaly and mentally), and almost deadly at times. They have little to no respect for people around them. If I met The Muppet Joker irl, I would have a hard time not kicking it in the balls so hard it wil not be able to cum in that Kermit plushie anymore.
Kermit is the main character of The Croakerverse, and overall, he is in some way the "bad guy" of the story. Yes, sometimes people around her suck, situations happen that are not (or not completely) their fault, but overall, Kermit is evil. (We can go deeper into other characters l8er, bc damn, alot of other characters are also very toxic, very mean, some have even committed murder..) but as a main character, most of the action leeds up to loosing people around it. I mean, Kermit has had a many friends, it has a family, it has had jobs, and what remains of there people? Bacicly no body. Her mother is the last person to have properly interacted with her, and the conversation was very stiff and negative. The reason of why so many characters hate Kermit is, yeah, sometimes just bc Kermit has odd interests and strange habits, but for the most part, people have stoped interacting because of negligence, because of attempted (ish) murders, because TMJ is mean and insufferable to everyone around them, to a point were they can not live life comfortably when they are around him. So yeah. Kermit, if she was a true person living in this world, would be a horrendous person.
Anyway, all this to say, I LOVE the Muppet joker, I am strongly attached to her as a character and I could go on for hours about my appreciation for this insane peice of media TMJ has started. But if we met, us two would not get along bc Kermit was written as an intensly flawed, nepo baby, VERY self centered & dangerous individual.
(sorry for making this sound so negative ;-; ile make some positive posts about Kermit bc holly crap there is SO MUCH good to say abt that weird character)

Fucking THANK YOU for your recent take on SHED - the fact that Martha and Billy are all happy chappy about being lizard clones who can never leave the sewers and live with the man who murdered the child gives me a bad case of the Big Yuck. I know that it is still canon, but I think of it as no more canon as that shitty mlp fanfic about Pinkie Pie killing Rainbow Dash - just unnecessary grimdark shite with no purpose than to show how """"""""""""adult"""""""""" Spidey stories can be. Not to mention the shitty implications of Curt only being properly being loved by his family because they share the same technical disability as him................
Yeah, like, I understand Nick Spencer was in a really awkward position in trying to do a back-to-basics approach at the start of his ASM run regarding Connors bc he inherited the absolutely fucking awful and offensive legacy left to him by Zeb Wells, Dan Slott, and Marvel editorial in terms of both Shed and the Clone Conspiracy, and for all of Spencer's many faults, I think he actually writes Curt surprisingly well and his characterization in the first arc and Hunted felt correct and compelling to me - except you have to ignore how it falls apart once you take Shed and the post-Clone Conspiracy status quo for the Connors family into account, leaving aside that Hunted was a response to Shed and attempt to resolve it (spoiler: it can never be resolved).
Not to mention that Peter and Mary Jane being totally cool with the situation makes them look awful too, like, how the fuck are they comfortable hanging out with them in the sewers for fun times under those creepy circumstances? Why was Peter cracking jokes about Curt eating people, as if that isn't wildly offensive on several levels? Don't get me wrong, I love the four of them being friends, but it no longer works without everyone looking like assholes.
Shed was horrible enough, and you know what, Clone Conspiracy may have been salvageable if Curt's arc was more along the lines of him getting one last chance to apologize and say good-bye to his family before letting them go - and you can definitely make a case that he has a problem with letting go (see: his entire inability to cope with his disability and loss that lead to the Lizard problem in the first place) - but no, Slott decided it would be sooo funny if Curt lost his mind and forcibly turned his family into lizard zombies to play house with creepy 1950s family sitcom overtones while his wife and son have zero agency and it's sooo funny he's delusional and crazy for that last page image??
Even with Spencer giving Martha and Billy their agency back, the entire situation feels so creepily coercive precisely bc they can't leave the situation, even if it's not meant to come off that way, which they never asked to be in either, and it's not like they even got any of the cool parts of reptile superpowers, they're literally just humanoid lizards stuck hiding underground and can't go anywhere, and Hunted kind of addressed this with Billy being rightfully pissed off, but Martha is just like, the endlessly accommodating perfect wife, and by the end of the arc, everything is back to being happy again, and just, fuck no, what the hell?
And at this point, I don't think any of it will ever get fixed bc Connors is mostly ignored now unless you need the Lizard as a generic villain for a one-off story where Spider-Man just beats his ass like a common street criminal, and honestly, I don't know if it even can be fixed - the Lizard really should have been retired as a Spidey villain years ago, but that's comic book serial storytelling for you.

T U B R & Z :) for the Ask Question :)
hi hi hi sorry for the late reply, and thank you for the ask!!! ^o^
answered t here!
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
bsd: gonna shock everyone i know..... nikolai :) his vibes are just impeccable. i love his whole view of life and what he does in hopes to achieve his impossible goal. i love that he's crazy cuuhraaaayyzeeee asylum but also is he. keeping us on our toes. and most importantly he is FUN every time he's around you can't help but have a good time even tho he's like, gruesomely murdering someone (i mean for me it's also part of the fun but eh)
fire emblem: ferdinand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is just. ough. he is so dear to me. he fills my heart with joy and warmth i can't explain it. he has such a good and lovely arc and despite suffering and losing so much he remains positive through it all and tries his best to help others. and he's also just! very fun! like with nikolai every time he's on screen is just enjoyable, usually p funny, or very touching :')
persona: akechi. he makes me insane. esp in royal he's a very well written and interesting character imo, his motivations are illogical in a logical way (as in. they're illogical but you can perfectly understand why), he is so so tragic. and once again like the last 2, he is just so so fun, esp in third sem where he lets loose and becomes more violent and vulgar and sassy :)
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
tbh i wasn't sold on fyolai at first (which is probably shocking to those who haven't followed me when i first got into bsd lol) but creantzy's art convinced me of it ngl :P also the anthology art bc i mean. yeah
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
dazai and atsushi........ hits me very deep in my soul........... it's so dear to me it means so much to me............ i can't even put it in words bc it simply makes me overflow with too much emotion at once
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!
ig when it comes to fandoms. one big pet peeve i have is the amount of negativity ppl have around the source material?
criticism is valid and understandable and no media is free of it, but some people really spend almost all their time in a certain fandom doing nothing but hating it and its creator (biggest example is the bnha fandom is 2017ish. i swear most posts i saw abt it were hate posts from people who were still following the manga religiously)
not to mention the version of this that's like ignoring canon completely and making up new personalities for the characters in an attempt to make them non-problematic and such. pls just make ocs
like at some point i can't help but wonder why they're still reading it?? please move on to different things? if not for your own well being then for other fans bc i don't wanna see your negativity when i'm trying to be excited over smth i like 😭
(also true abt ppl who hate a character/ship and spend more time talking abt how much they hate it than talking abt the ones they do like, or worse, leaving mean comments on posts/fics made by ppl who do like it. yes that includes "problematic" ships or characters. complaining here and there is chill ofc but you gotta move on at some pointtttttt just block the tags or ppl who post a lot of it come on)
but fr it's mostly for you. esp if you're someone who doesn't have a lot of free time, why are you spending so much of it on something you're not even enjoying? i just don't get it 😔 you shouldn't take sunk cost fallacy into account when it comes to your joy i think

When it comes to Vriska "hate" and discourse, I can't help but feel quite a bit shaken up. Gamzee, who was mind controlled and influenced by an immortal buff green skeleton demon into doing what he did, someone who is incredibly malleable and easy to shape into a pawn, specially after he was given absolutely nothing to latch onto with his religious beliefs deconstructed and absolutely no purpose in life, is treated like he deserves to be stomped into the ground for the shitty things he did in acts 5 & 6, meanwhile Vriska who CHOSE to do the things she did, wasn't mind controlled, yes influenced but not mind controlled, is let off the hook and treated like she deserves to be forgiven and have her actions look past.
The thing about Vriska is yes, she DID become the way she is due to the environment she was raised in and a bit of influence from Scratch, but she CHOSE to do what she did, she omitted details to June in order to give herself a better look, and while I don't TOTALLY doubt she genuinely feels bad for what she did, she kinda skips the detail of her ensuring Bec Noir's existence by ensuring Bec is created in the first place. Why did she do this? Because she has a fucking complex. Instead of making up for what she did by being a better person, she tried to make up for the shitty things she did by creating a monster that threatens the lives of everyone around her, so she could kill said monster and "fix" everything she did. She's a villain who desperately wants to be a hero and takes things way out of proportion. And the end to her arc in act 5 was perfect, she was a well written character, a pretty good antagonist with a hint of tragedy and a fuckton of personality, the consequences of her actions caught up to her in both timelines, one being killed by one of the people she's deeply wronged, and another being shown that her whole plan of forcing a situation where she's the hero was stupid and she was painfully shown that by Jack rejecting her challenge and doing what Terezi said he'd do, blow up the meteor and kill everyone on it, bringing two of the trolls to Vriska to further hammer it home.
She was a bad person who definitely had a reason to end up the way she did who ended up paying for the things she did, she served the story well as an antagonist and was enjoyable while she was onscreen (except the ableism. That part wasn't fun.)
... And then act 6 ruins that! She's revived and SUDDENLY she's amazing at planning, everything she does goes right, and she's never in the wrong, and she gets to be a hero like she always wanted to. This makes NO SENSE, she's suddenly amazing at making plans even though during act 5 every single plan she made blew up in her face, she fixes everything going on in the meteor like she's a master psychologist and relationship fixer even though she's barely got anything together on her own, and overall she's handled horribly. This is why I have a problem with people excusing Vriska's actions with act 6, bc what she does makes NO sense and is just Hussie being fucking weird about Vriska bc she's his pet favorite character that never does anything wrong.
I mentioned Gamzee earlier and part of the reason this all annoys me so much is Vriska stans keep bringing up her past to justify the way she is, while stomping the poor clown into the ground and treating him like he's always been a horrible person, even though before the Meteor Murder Incident he had never been implied to kill anyone or be violent at all, in fact he was just a religious stoner that wanted the best for his friends, until he had his faith ripped away from him by accident and then stumbled upon a puppet that's LITERALLY KNOWN AND STATED TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE PEOPLE'S PERSONALITY AND MORALITY ON AN INHERENT LEVEL. HE'S MIND CONTROLLED. BY LORD ENGLISH. but do you see anyone waxing poetic about him because of that? Because he's a victim of circumstance that did horrible things as a result? No!!!!! He's just dunked on over and over again specially the longer the story goes on, culminating in his PQ route where they just go "haha murder clown" EVEN THOUGH THAT'S COMPLETELY ASININE AND HE NEVER DISPLAYED ANY OF THOSE TENDENCIES PREVIOUS TO BEING INFLUENCED BY LORD ENGLISH. I'm not saying what he did was JUSTIFIED, no, god no, but the Gamzee we knew from before and during Sgrub is long gone, and in his place is just another pawn to LE like Scratch, Kurloz and Bro. He COULD have ended up better had he not been mind controlled and gotten to improve his mental foundation, same way Vriska could have ended up a good person had she not grown up as a blueblood with a shitty lusus, but does anyone care? NO! NO ONE DOES! BECAUSE IT'S NOT VRISKA!
Again, to clarify, they're BOTH good characters previous to Act 6, the downhill trend comes in at Game Over, they're both well written and have depth, I DON'T HATE VRISKA, it just severely annoys me seeing what kind of severe double standards this fandom has.
And to cap this off, I'm a polyamorous bi trans woman. So don't you fucking bring the whole "people hate Vriska because she's a woman" shit here.
This was very very long and I'm sorry for that but I HAVE to let this off my chest.

Part 4 Rewrite Concepts
Ok I've officially decided in my head that I'm going to at least plan out a part 4 rewrite, which is why now im going to give u all an extremely messy and poorly organized list of ideas I have just to like..help myself think them through more!
Ok so I'm having trouble deciding how I want to start the story off. Mainly because I don't want to include the Anjelo arc. I've always thought of part 4 being messily divided into 3 parts (Anjelo, Akira, Kira), which is something I know I want to change and have the whole plot just focus on Kira. I was thinking maybe just have it start in a slice of life style like some of the filler eps but the main problem is that I need to figure out what exactly sparks the whole 'we need to catch the killer' thing. Maybe Josuke and Koichi find Reimi instead of Koichi and Rohan? Idk!
And yknow mentioning Akira, I think this is the hardest arc to write out of the story. I don't want to include it very much, but it was really important for Okuyasu's character arc imo. I also just need to reread part 4 i literally own all of the p4 manga why haven't I done that yet..
I'm thinking of changing stuff w Reimi. I kind of want to make her be born a bit later, therefore killed later. Mainly so that she could be connected to Josukes past and this would better set up the framing of Jotaro that I want, as it would make him 17~ when Kira first kills her (I’d also make kira 5 yrs younger ofc)
For josukes past I’m still a little iffy. I think I might have Reimi just be there w the boy to help pull Tomokos car out of the pothole but idk. Is that cheesy? Just bc I still want Josuke to have his hair and everything..
I want to give Keicho Surface. Ik he alr has a stand, and I love Bad Company, but I wanna make Surface plot relevant and give it to someone who I also want to be plot relevant soo..yeah. In my rewrite I imagine Keicho teams up w Kira bc Kira promises to find a way to kill Keicho’s father.
Also yeah I want to have Jotaro be framed for all of the murders bc again that’s fun idk. And this way there can be a subplot abt clearing his name. Also I want to add holly and possibly baby Jolyne (is that too self indulgent?)
I’m still going to keep the plot w Cinderella (as in kira changing his face) bc I love hayato and shinobu. Plus that whole arc is when we got into p4 being rlly good
For yukako I’m thinking of making her josukes cousin, mainly so that they can have a pre established relationship since yukako probably isn’t getting her stand in this (bc she got it from the arrow right? I don’t want to include that arc. It drove me crazy how everyone kept getting a stand)
I’m thinking Joseph gets introduced after Jotaro is arrested and Jotaro is all like “u need ur dad to help solve this!!”
I wanna focus on the conflicts between Josuke and Joseph. I especially think this could be fun bc ryohei would still be alive, so it’s like a case of “u might be my biological dad, but my REAL dad is right here.”
I also want to let Tomoko actually do something but I haven’t decided what yet.
I’m keeping mikitaka in somehow bc believe it or not I do enjoy fun and whimsy
I’m probably cutting out Rohan entirely tho. He was honestly a good antagonist and I love his stand so I might use that somewhere but I just can’t stand him. (lmfao stand)
Also like at the end of the day this is my au and I do what I want!!
I think I might make one of yukakos parents be a police officer. Bc 1. whether I make her and Josuke related or not, they’re still connected by their relatives on the force and 2. I feel like this could possibly help set her up to help in the kira investigation? Like maybe she’s planning to become a cop or detective in the future so she alr has some skills. Or maybe she could help find files or something. No matter what, I want her to get to actually help w the plot instead of just kidnapping koichi then being sidelined like in canon
For okuyasu I’m thinking his arc is going to be changed a wee bit. Like his brother works w kira, but he befriends Josuke and realizes that what his brothers doing is wrong and like..learns to stand up for the right thing regardless of what his brother says. And a bump in this road could be keichos death. Like imagine ur finally branching off from ur brother and then he DIES? I’d be crawling back to his grave too lmfao
I’m going to work on stand profiles and giving them actual limits and rules. Bc a LOT of them just don’t have that.
I think some stands I’ll still include just bc I like them. Like highway star (even tho that arc was so boring the stand is cool).
Also I still want to focus on the affects of Dio for part of it. I think I might mainly do this w Jotaro and his ptsd tho..
Overall I’m excited and I hope I can flesh this out more !!!

youre doing your part to bring attention to niche taleblr characters that need more love <3
I SURE AM!!!

Thank you so much anon i wanted to answer sooner but i decided to have fun with it— Anyways let me use this as an excuse to show off designs (headshots?) for some characters I consider pretty niche that I’ve done a lot of stuff with— Maloney and Maxwell are only here for comparison, they’re actually pretty utilized characters. So. Some details (these will include my headcanons) below the cut—
~ Details and HCs ~
- Poppy Soup, granddaughter of Chakalata Soup and close friend of Sally Acachalla, only 1/4th-ghost and is basically a living person outside of not needing to breathe and an immunity to some things— including fire and radiation.
- Goober, friend of Poppy’s, employee of Chakalata’s, sibling of Katrina and J.Roast— worked for Chakalata in life and died at an incident at Chakalata’s restaurant, his death was basically the last straw for OG PIE’s patience for the ghost chef. Only about 19 when he died
- Ronnie Boast, Early PIE member and the youngest on the team— managed to last a little while with just him, Ghost, and Toast before suddenly going missing. Ghost and Toast assumed the ghost hunting got to him, but he was actually abducted by Prince Fang, who he managed to piss off. He’s a dragon now and is honestly just as confused as everyone else
- Johnny Roast, Early PIE member and brother of Katrina, because Kat and Ghost would do stupid things together, Roast heavily believes he was with her when she died and is keeping it secret because he played some part in it. He’s mostly just mad in general and lashing out at anyone he can justify… he just really needs therapy.
- Gregory.Gregory, father of James Maloney, but not Sam… also an alien. Separated from Maloney when he was too young to remember and has been trying to reunite with him for ages. Skilled with devices, bad with people.
- James Maloney, borderline a main character, there’s a whole arc where he’s temporarily dead after sacrificing his life to prevent the world from ending. Sally’s cousin!
- Sam Maloney, James’s younger brother through adoption and employee to Darth Calculus. Unlike many people in his employ, Sam recognizes there is something severely wrong with DC and is actively working against him. Has a son!
- Princeton Quagmire, ex-fiancée of Kermit (Acachalla?) and “arch nemeses”/former member of the Acachalla gang, also allegedly a time traveller. Honestly, you’d think a time traveller would do a better job at not working with a future mass murderer, but no one said he was smart I suppose. Canonically possibly has a daughter he doesn’t know about.
- Jose x4, boyfriend? Husband? Of Papa Acachalla from almost 200 years ago, very dead. He sees his dead as being the fault of Papa and is actively working to spite him, a true vengeful spirit.
- Maxwell Acachalla, borderline a main character, constantly haunting the Acachallas— in my canon, Maxwell is not a vengeful spirit, and he doesn’t actually know why he’s still around and not in some afterlife. Been just saying things for so long he’s actually started believing himself.
- Jeremy Acachalla, Papa Acachalla’s older brother, if you’ve seen Everything Everywhere All at Once, what happened to him is basically that but worse and harder to deal with. Either way, he previously had a dangerous responsibility, failed, and is facing the consequences of that.
- Kermit “the Claw”, cousin to Papa and Maxwell, in my canon he was a previous victim to Jimmy Casket who wasn’t as lucky as ghost as to have times where he had complete control of his body and mind. Originally a survivalist without much mind toward theft outside of necessity, he slowly became consumed by bloodlust (bc Casket) to the point where he no longer distinguished friend from foe and starting attacking innocents. Currently very dead.
I tried to hint things with the eyes— people who are normal have pupils, people who are in some way undead but not fully a ghost have irises but no pupil, Maloney and Gregory have fully black irises bc birds, and something else (like cracks perhaps) represent like. Basically, they’re a ghost and something is wrong. They’ve been cursed, they’re losing themselves, yadda yadda something like that. Princeton is an exception here bc i forgot what i was doing haha…

I have a couple of bleach related question about some topics you already mentioned and since I love your thoughts and you have bleach moment I hope I won’t be to annoying. Obv don’t need to answer
Is Grimmjow your favourite bleach character? What moment made you change your mind on orihime? Was there specific moment, or just all of it? Why arrancar arc is your favourite? Do you like any other one? Can you elaborate on grimmulqui? What do you find interesting about their dynamic, since it’s described as completely incompatible in canon? You saw Di Roy as basically looking up to grimmjow, do you have other ideas about the group dynamic? And sth with drama but I need to know Is your feeling about gr!m!chi based on age difference they have? Cuz I felt the same after I became an adult and wonder if it’s similar to you, but someone pointed out Isshin and masaki who are also similar in ages, so idk what to think rn?
And btw I hope one day you will feel comfy enough to share your OC/character. I always look forward to what you post so I’m sure it is fun and interesting. Thanks and sorry again.
Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh ok I’m sorry to everyone for what I am about to inflict upon your dash.
So i think back when I first watched bleach as a tiny middle schooler, I did like Grimmjow the most. But my best friend had said that Grimmjow was HER favourite, so i opted for Ulquiorra instead out of respect (my kid logic was unmatched, i know lmao). Now Ulquiorra is a character that I love a lot and I did RP as him for a couple years because of that (he is a sad clown. he is an emo. like how can i not like him), but Grimmjow has absolutely retaken the spot of Number One Guy of All Time. He is the Original Catboy, he's blue, he’s a dickhead, he's a lot more observant and intelligent than literally everyone gives him credit for, he loves to beat the shit out of everyone, AND he’s emotionally constipated, I love him.
Also for Orihime it was like, when I was getting back into bleach in college i was peeking at some blogs for it while also reading the manga and the hate people have for her is so unreal dude. Like part of it really was just out of spite for those people lmfao. There's nothing wrong with her, people are just so venomous!! And for what!! Her big boobs????? She’s weird! She’s compassionate and will heal even her enemies! And not to repeat myself but she’s ALSO more observant and intelligent than literally everyone gives her credit for. She intuits so much that other characters dont pick up on, like??? Why. I mean I know why, its just tiring lmfao
I guess I like chapters before Rukia’s capture because the energy for them is really good? And the shinigami arc is all good because it sets up a lot of new shit for the rest of the series. And also the Fullbringer arc is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. BUUUUUT Arrancar Arc is my favourite bc the arrancar are my favourite. No competition. I think their world is interesting, how it worked before Aizen and after Aizen fucked it all up; I like the struggle between the animalistic lifestyle and cycle of violence they’d all been subjected to rubbing up against the reclamation of their humanity and figuring out what that means for them, and how the promise Aizen gives them of power makes that even harder because he’s forcing them to stay in that survival-of-the-fittest, hyper competitive mindset so they can all be his little murder machines. I also love that they all have fursonas lmfao.
For Grimmulqui it’s like… I think I just like the idea of two dudes with a shitty grasp on their own emotions (mostly from being in an environment that’s forced them to suppress anything that isn’t going to keep them alive) not realizing what it is they're feeling for each other. Seeing Grimmjow noticing things about Ulquiorra (mostly to size him up as a threat, I’m sure lmao) like how he notes that he will always stab prey he’s interested in right where his hollow hole is, as a quirk that he thinks Ulq himself probably doesnt realize. And like, he’ll say shit like “haha, you’re scared to fight me! Because you think we’ll tear each other apart!” and then turn around and just remove Ulquiorra from the situation entirely instead of actually fighting him (which yes is because he had the objective of fighting Ichigo instead and that would just prolong everything and get in the way) But idk! It reads to me like he might be projecting a tiny bit! Also like. The Penis Swords Chapter Cover. Need I Say More.
As for Grimmjow’s group, yeah, but it’s like. It’s less about each of them on an individual level and more about them as just a group? Because of how little we really got for them it’s a lot more work to extrapolate things from lmao. Like I think they all idolize Grimmjow in a way, but Di Roy does the most and is the most obvious about it. Most of my thoughts on them are just about how cool it’d be if they were all still alive and could pal around with their favourite guy :( They could have the shittiest mancave in Las Noches that Shawlong fruitlessly tries to lecture everyone else about cleaning, and it’d be great! Also I think its funny that Yylfordt is the jock to Szayel’s nerd and the potential for more sibling rivalry shit would be cool.
And uh. Well for Grimmichi and Isshin/Masaki like…….. Dude idk what to tell you lmfao. Like we could have a whole discussion about Kubo being lame for Isshin/Masaki but I think people using the fact that it’s canon in spite of the age gap as a defense for grimmichi (which i think is what you’re implying, right?) is fucking dumb lol. As if that suddenly makes it less weird. Ok.
#bleachposting#long post#as for my ocs its like#i do have tags for them! i just am maybe slightly embarrassed about them and want to update them a bit <:)#like fuck theres lorcan and his whole thing with ulq. i keep drawing thumbnails for the comic of it.#will i ever finish it and post it? remains to be seen

Gojo Satoru's Good Side
Warnings- Gonna be spoliers for Volume 0, and Gojo's school days arc (I forgot the actual name but I think it was something 'star plasma vessel arc'?) anime episode no. 6 and 21. And some latest fanbook spoilers as well. And some theories about his past as well.

So right now we know little about Gojo's family and childhood but to me it's kind of apparent that he may have had sort of an oppressive childhood and his rebellious nature stems from being made to carry the responsibilities from a very young age.
Not only he was the next in line head of the clan in his childhood but also the carrier of the 6 eyes that was born after 400 years and with the pressure of inheriting the clan's technique limitless I have enough reasons to believe he lost a huge part of his childhood in order to be the 'honoured one' he is now.
He's someone who's learned the importance of youth after losing his own.
He longs for freedom with a dream to have an uncorrupted Jujutsu society where the people don't have to be bound to the irrational rules and outdated ideals of people just bec they are a few decades older.
He's ambitious and have the power to become a mass murdered on loose to reach his goal but he knows nobody will follow him down that path. He wants a world where everyone lives their own way not the way that is forced upon them. And as a teacher makes it a point to pass that knowledge on to his students that he low key cares about a lot.
The parallels-
Why he supports Yuuta and Yuuji-

His words are similar and so are his actions in both cases.

At first glance Gojo comes off as a selfish jerk that only seems to care about making things go his own way and it may be true to some extent but inbetween those self entered and reckless nature there are moments of pure kindness and generosity, the subtlety of which can easily be overlooked if you're not careful.
He never makes it a point to boast about his sentimental actions. Sure he's kinda narcissistic in other ways but the fact that he tries to help his students from behind the scenes without a word shows he is not just a simple 'anti hero' troupe.
He tries to protect both Yuuji and Yuuta during what's supposed to be the 'best years of their life'. He knows the value of every mundane things of Highschool that will soon become a memory. Something that everyone's supposed to look back with fondness.

This was one of the first out the very few times we see Gojo emotional, like Shoko comments, it was very unlike him bc he prefers to treat things indifferently and unemotionally.
Not only was Yuuji in a somewhat similar situation with Yuuta but he was also someone who Gojo saw potential in.
Now let's go back to his school days arc. Even tho he makes it clear how he hates that ' strong should protect the weak' charade, after finding out about Amanai Riko's situation he goes out of his way to not only protect her but make sure she has fun during the little time she had left before merging into a state of unconsciousness ( correct me if I'm wrong).
He lets her have as much fun as she wants all the while exerting himself to keep his limitless technique on (when he couldn't control all that well back then), untill he was exhausted to his breaking point. And in the end even tells Geto to let her run away with some money so she could live her life as a normal girl.

⚾ He is aware how hard the Jujutsu soccer lifestyle is and how it will only get harder after they all graduate. The need to have fun during their school time is something he truly believes in and it shows when he seekily changes the individual battel event into a fun and relaxing baseball game.

How he pays attention to the details, he's insightful when it counts-

His concerned face and tone when Megumi gets out so easily. He wanted Megumi to have fun too. It's obvious how much he cares about his students or atleast Megumi.
Even if he didn't experienced all the joys of childhood, he didn't let it change his views on them or forget about their value and importance in life.
His kindness can easily go unnoticed bc of his usually laid back and nonchalant demeanor that comes off as rude and frivolous but in actuality he doesn't make it a point to show off how much he cares nor does he expects for this care to be returned.
His love is filled with complexities and inconsistencies bc he doesn't believe in coddling up his loved ones, like he said He's more of a 'tough love' kinda guy.
One moment he's spending all his energy in making your life hard with his ridiculous and outrageous pranks and his unofficial position as the no. 1 troll teacher and the next thing you know your day becomes a little bit brighter, filled with a little more laughter bc of its light hearted moments that he brings in.🧁
Ending this with a 🧁 bc Gojo Satoru can be sweet and hell
A/n: Word Vomit to its max. Sorry to everyone who thought these were gonna be headcanons bc as you can see it was just a rant. But anyway! Pls let me.know what you think of this 'analysis' and if I've gotten anything wrong and how I can improve it. Your headcanons or thoughts are welcome in my inbox! Thank you for reading this💮💮

Quick question, I been in the fandom for a long ass time (since the first sadist animatic since I was a fan of sadist since their Batim days) so I think I good grasp on all of the folk in the smp but uh.... I kinda realised that I have no clue why c!Niki hates c! Wilbur and even more so, why does everyone thinks she's a girlboss for it??? Did I miss an entire plotline orrrr?
(sent this to a couple of other folk, hope you don't mind)
admittedly, im not the best well versed in it either (i'd recc going to mia geoguessbur, whos tbh the expert on c!wilbur and c!niki imo) but the short of it is: he realized the anger she had previously associated with tommy (because he "ruined everything", also see her attempted murder) was wrongly placed. he didn't do anything! ....and then she shifted the blame and that anger to wilbur instead of her like... dealing with her emotions. oops!
as for the girlboss thing... i think depending from person to person WHY they do it varies.
part of it is a willful ignorance of c!niki's character and her arc and instead working to fit her to a trope, i'm sure of it. likewise (though a bit cynical), i feel like a lot of people dont follow the female characters/ccs but dont want to LOOK like they dont so they... kind of fake it til they make it kind of thing? using the girlboss method is a great and easy way to show support for a character without having to actually care nor show any amount of depth in investment in who that character actually IS or going through. Again, thats a cynical view though and absolutely not the only reason ppl "girlboss-ify" characters.
some of it is encouraging bad decisions in the same way ppl chanted for wilbur to blow up lmanberg-- yeah its not healthy, but its fun and dramatic so im gonna be positive about it! go off!
some of it also (at least for me so im counting it) is like.... its more complex than you can get into comfortably (or at least casually). theres nuance and morals and what they're doing isn't right but its not a simple choice either. so you just... say girlboss instead and move on? again its also tied to the second point where you're encouraging bad actions, but with this point as compared the other like... intent that it IS deeper than that, its more tragic. you're glossing over it for the sake of levity, if that makes sense? Its a tragedy and you like it. (admittedly tho, i've used this type of "girlbossing" the most with like... c!quackity and the prison arc bc i was too tired to debate morals FJDSKLFJ)
its important tho to keep in mind the difference in how ppl treat male vs female characters with the "girlboss-ification" no matter what though. are you treating all female characters the same and glossing over their depth or erasing their character to fit a typical "strong girl" or "boss girl" archetype? also ties back to the first point, is your support superficial to make yourself look good?
theres definitely a trend in fandom i think to ignore the depth with female characters and their actions/motives while digging in deep to the male characters. men are allowed to be a tragedy while women are ''empowered'' by their tragedy. as an example off top my head: the eggpire. ive seen multiple points talking about the underlying tragedy of members like bad or ant and how they got to that point, but most ive seen about hannah are just... "yeah shes evil now #girlboss".
this isnt to say that you SHOULDNT acknowledge the depth of those male characters, nor to try and like.. single out eggpire fans, its just the clearest example i can think of. multiple characters going thru the same/similar scenarios, but the reception to them is different
despite all the of above, i dont think "girlboss-ifying" a character is inherently a bad thing. At least when used responsibly, like the second or third option presented. it IS a fun shorthand for "thing character is being active and doing things i like", often with a unsaid message of "this character is doing BAD things that i like". i dont think it should be tossed aside or never used, just used mindfully. again: why are you treating this character like this? how much do you actually know about the situation? etc.
#dream smp#mcyt#niki#og post#(jeb bush voice) please clap#answered#anon#long post#i've. thought abt this a lot#again bc i saw ppl calling out the female girlboss behavior#and my first instinct was to defend myself bc i Enjoy using girlboss like discussed#and esp bc i apply it frequently without regards to gender (i think)#but after stepping back: they're right and have merit to their point#there IS a marked difference in how characters are treated at large based on gender. its okay to like... acknowlege that.#you have to in order to be able to change it#also i dont call out those scenarios out of malintent. i know i have done the 'support [blank] bc i want to appear good' even if i dont car#like. thats human instinct to appear good its okay. you just have to#ACKNOWLEDGE it and realize what you're doing#and make a point to like. improve or stop or just continue knowing why you;re doing it yknow#idk man i love rambling in tags FJKDLSJF
