While I was dealing with my headache, this thought came back to my head and I finally went and drew the comic to go with it

I admit, not very good drawings, but it’s poorly drawn comics for a reason, and you get the gist of it

For reference, I had this thought once of basically taking the Lil Petey thing from Dogman (because it was inspired by clips from the new movie that I still haven’t seen but want to), but making it Megatron/D-16

Featuring g1 Megatron’s design because g1 Megatron is absolutely the guy to do this, silly schemes like this are his bread and butter. He’s even made clones before, just not of himself (at least as far as I’ve seen). And they also work as intended, but for the sake of the joke

Though honestly I really like the idea of Megatron having a clone that’s his pre-war D-16 self, and the drama that can come with it from self reflection on who he is now. And potentially Optimus’ reaction to discovering this. I kind of don’t want to just leave at this silly comic

But where it directly goes from here, I’m not sure. Maybe Megatron kicks him out and Optimus finds him, and decides to take him back with him even if this is a tiny Megatron, because it’s not Megatron Megatron, just a younger version of him, and the regular is still causing problems

D-16 meanwhile isn’t really sure what’s going on, he’s just happy to be here. He does not have the life experience of Megatron to make him violent and evil, he’s just a little guy

Maybe Megatron gets him back and he and Optimus end up with a joint custody situation of D-16 here, like how I think it is with Lil Petey in Dogman (I haven’t actually read the series so I’m not sure on the details of the situation)

I don’t know, but I like this idea regardless of it being ripped straight from Dogman, let me have this. Or if anyone else wants to explore the idea, feel free, I don’t mind

Shortstack to Brickhouse

Jazz had endless fun making Orion run after him before the war. Unfortunately for him, Optimus has taken it upon himself to pay back the vorns of runs through Iacon.

(This is going to be part one for a series methinks. We shall see.)

"There's a bar this way that I enjoy. Best engex in Iacon." Orion, looking more than a little winded, huffed as he all but sprinted to keep up with Jazz's strides. The archivist's vents flared as he ran along, his fans running on their highest setting in an attempt to follow Jazz along the purposefully convoluted path.

Any potential guilt he might have felt for forcing the far shorter mech to tail him was smothered behind amusement. Orion hardly left the archives, and when he did leave, he usually just took the train. Jazz's logic was simple. He took his bestie for a walk in order to get him to move for once, and in return, said bestie got a treat at the end of the trip.

"How far is it?" Orion managed to choke out a question in-between frantic venting. The poor mech hardly reached Jazz's hips. Every step Jazz took was four or five to the smaller bot, a fact that he found eternally amusing during their outings.

"Just a few city districts." Jazz had to fight back a snort as Orion all but deflated, his optics wide in distress.

"A few districts? Jazz, it can take me joors just to get through one!" Orion's exclamation was one that had been repeated many times over their various trips. He never stopped being dramatic, especially when forced to be active for once. It didn't matter that Jazz had been slowly working Orion into taking longer and longer trips. The archivist was agitated regardless.

And it was hilarious.

"Then we better be moving quickly, Rion! Otherwise we'll miss out on the bar!" Orion made a sound that bordered on a wail as he increased his pace in order to match Jazz's casual jog. His shorter companion straddled the line between being categorized as a minicon and a small civilian frame. It showed in his every step, especially with his frantic sprinting.

The only reason Orion wasn't legally registered as a minicon at all was due to the lack of rights for such frame types. It had taken more than a little effort on Orion's part to prove himself worthy of being listed as a normal civilian instead. But secretly, Jazz was pretty sure Orion was some flavor of minicon all the same, if only because he was built like a brick despite being on the taller end for such frame types.

Not that he was going to tell Orion that, of course. Orion was rather touchy when it came to his height, a fact Jazz abused on the regular.

"Come on shortstack!" Jazz laughed as Orion almost tripped over his pedes in an attempt to keep up. The archivist threw a middle digit in his direction, a scowl on his face as his frame steamed.

"I'm going… to shove you… onto a train… track." Orion wheezed out between erratic venting. His optics blazed with anger that Jazz had only ever seen directed at him while on similar trips. He liked seeing Orion all riled up. If he was pissed off when they got to the bar, he'd be far more fun than he would have been otherwise.

Angry Orion made a great drinking buddy, unlike calm Orion, who would chat the audial off the nearest bot, likely to rant about his favorite philosophical topics. Jazz shivered at the memory of Orion's last composed trip to the bar. Jazz had fallen into recharge in his seat watching Orion preach to some poor spark who got wrapped up in conversation with him. Yeah, he'd take his chances with angry Orion any cycle if it meant his bestie would actually be interesting outside of his work.

"You can try, Rion! If you can catch me, that is!" Grinning, Jazz gave Orion only a nano-klik to gather himself before he broke into a proper sprint. As he ran, he laughed and gleefully listened to Orion's screech of outrage.

Sooner or later, Orion would give up and resort to his alt-mode to try and keep up. It would dig at the smaller mech's sense of pride, only serving to make him more upset. This particular trip was long too. Jazz was betting at least twenty shanix on Orion being absolutely livid when they got to the bar.

Primus, he couldn't wait.

"We have an inspection to perform. Please follow me." Optimus, still reading a datapad, tapped Jazz on the shoulder to stir him from his defrag. He reset his optics to rid himself of any lingering lethargy before standing up with a stretch. His spinal struts popped as he did so, earning a groan of relief as he fell into step with his friend turned Prime.

Gone was the archivist who could barely ride most attractions even if he were to be allowed into Six Lasers. Now there stood a towering giant who dwarfed Jazz and most of everyone else by at least three or four heads. It was a lot to take in.

"Righty Rion! Lead the way!" Before the words even formulated fully, Optimus was already striding forward with newfound grace. Jazz adjusted his visor, processing just how fast Optimus was moving at a casual walk of all things. But he quickly got himself back in order and hurried after his friend and leader.

He had to jog just to keep up, a fact that he noted with a hint of surprise as Optimus didn't bother to slow down as he usually did with others he brought with him for whatever reason. Jazz didn't mind the extra effort it took to keep moving, but he did file the chance in behavior away for later. Was Optimus feeling alright?

Optimus led the way out of the Citadel, guiding Jazz through all sorts of back roads that the Primacy would faint seeing their Prime walk down. The path was meandering and wild, with no coordination that Jazz could pick out. Even more strange than that, Jazz could have sworn Optimus was picking up his pace. He didn't look like he was moving all that quickly. His every stride was graceful, weight perfectly distributed. Compared to him, Jazz was starting to feel a burn in his legs as he forced himself to move faster just to keep up.

"Where are we going? This isn't a path I know." Jazz called out, but he was met with a contemplative hum instead of a real answer. Optimus hadn't even looked up from his datapad, almost as if the path and the brutal pace didn't bother him in the slightest.

"Military installation 43B." Optimus finally spoke up as they rounded a corner. The moment Jazz registered what was being said, he skidded to a halt and stared at Optimus in horror.

"That's on the other side of Iacon!" Optimus, slag him, turned around slowly. As he did, Jazz found his spark sinking as he noted a smug grin on the Prime's face.

"That it is. But I'm sure if we move quickly, we can still arrive in time for the inspection I scheduled." Optimus returned back to his datapad, his pace absolutely picking up as he started into a casual hustle. Jazz scrambled to keep up, having to sprint to make up the difference as Optimus laughed.

"If you can keep up, that is." Oh that slagger.

"Rion!" Jazz lamented his every life decision as Optimus continued on his merry way, settling into a slow run that left Jazz throwing all the power in his frame into running as fast as he possibly could.

Slag it all. The Matrix may have made him bigger, but it hadn't made him any less Orion.

ALSOO lets talk about what alicia's thoughts are here as she's looking at him,,, she says smth along the lines of "ur interesting to me bc i cant figure u out,,," and i love that a lot,,, maybe im looking too far into this but i read this as her saying "im seeing pieces of who u really are, i want to figure u out / explore ur true and honest self". she's learning more abt the side of lloyd thats empathetic, thats selfless, that brings out a good outcome for everyone,,,, she wants to see more of that side of him methinks,,,,, regardless of what she actually meant by this, it's a very cute moment and i really like it,,,

it again makes me think that alilloyd as a ship has soooo much potential. it could be so so good,,, this moment especially helps give it a little ground to stand on,,, i just wish there was a stronger foundation,,, it could be even greater,,, ohhh,,,, maybe in future eps who knows? we'll have to wait and see,,,

also hi artanis!! this line from her caught my eye i wanted to bring it up

im willing to bet that this belief is also one that was sourced from credos/jang-cheol, just like the rock paper scissors game and just the farming/pacifism schtick as a whole. it probably played a part in how he had to convince the demons to follow him in the first place,,,

this could also indicate that living honestly and working to earn is a principle that jang-cheol followed in korea, and he decided that he would stick with it when he became credos. alternatively, he had the complete opposite principle (he was a gamer after all, with a max level character,,, could imply that he spent all his time on the game) but when he got transmigrated, he realized that he had another shot at making a living honestly and decided to commit to that. there isn't really enough to make a solid conclusion on how jang-cheol lived, but this is an interesting indicator and i think it's worth a bookmark! i hope the prequel gets a manhwa so i can read it,,, manifesting,,,

lloyd got like a jump ability and according to my mutuals thats not in the novel? so im curious as to what thats for,,, lloyd says it already but yeah he's a swordmaster now and has tons of other skills and summons too. what would a super jump be useful for,,,? so far, most if not all of his skills have had some use in the story,,, skills that are deliberately brought up like this are always used eventually. what in the world will a jump skill do??? what kind of situation will lloyd find himself in?? is this not almost over??? i'm so curious,,,

i genuinely had a lot of fun reading this ep the moments were all so fun and i'm very glad that things are looking up for them,,,!!! this does also worry me that there's going to be one more final obstacle before we actually get their good ending. bc now that i think abt it, getting the eye of summer does save lloyd but it doesn't stop fate,,, so,,, there might be more trouble ahead. but i'm not gonna worry about that right now!!! i'm coping!!! i'm coping.

I just had the fucked up thought if someone try to kill Damon during the kg and it not working. How would the soulmates react to an attempt on his life? Especially if they don’t know who did it

Admittedly, part of why I went a different route when a similar question was asked is because of group-think leading to the "obvious" conclusion that it would've had to be one of Damon's non-soulmates.

But at the same time, it is so so so intriguing to think about

So going beyond the group-think bias, Wolfgang would 1000% be accusing Eva 😭. She clearly didn't have any problem with trying to kill him knowing that Damon would die as a result, so what's stopping her from using the soulmate bound itself as an alibi? (He is crashing out even harder than in the Cara trial, because the reenactment of his trauma was a live performance this time, I don't think even Damon could calm him down for a while). Wolfgang himself could be Eva's alibi and he'd still needle at the tiniest inconsistencies to try and condemn her. "He'd feel bad and apologize once he's regained his senses" I want to say, but we are nowhere near the character development necessary for that lol. Instead he'd just coldly admit to it before turning his attention to other suspects.

Eva is understandably pissed about this. Even if she's come to realize that others here do care about her, Damon was the first to do so, and having the guy who (in her eyes) is to blame for her going over the edge trying to throw her under the bus for the second time is Not Helping. I genuinely believe she would have straight up lunged for Wolfgang's neck had she not learned the power of yuri friendship from Diana and Cassidy. Instead, she puts all her anger at Wolfgang and anxiety about Damon into finding the attacker. While her purpose primarily for Damon's safety, at least 5% is so she can rub it in Wolfgang's face, especially if she finds the culprit first.

(good thing they still hate each other at this point or else the culprit would've been found and hogtied by lunch the next day)

Since there isn't a confirmed culprit, Desmond would be a bit more paranoid methinks. He keeps an eye on everyone for the first few days, and while it's only noticeable to those who know him well, he's a bit more tense when speaking to those he suspects. Depending on how close he and Damon have gotten by this point he might also just straight up ask Eloise if she did it. He doesn't want to believe it, but he'd rather be wrong and face her anger then and there than the betrayal if it was her.

Ulysses...would not be mentally strong enough to confront Wenona about it, but he is on it with writing down every piece of potential evidence. Also the one telephoning things between Eva and Wolfgang probably because he knows they need to at the very least be aware of what the other found. If anyone says something different the second-third-fifth time Ulysses asks (because they don't write everything down like you do boo) he's not correcting them, just dotting down the changes made since what didn't change is likely the unfiltered truth.

Meanwhile, congratulations, most of you are back at the bottom of the Damon trust meter until the culprit is found <3 Damon is trying not to show it, but he is noticeably wary of being with only one other person in the room. It sucks for everyone because they obviously know why he's acting like this (especially with the post-mock trial spiel) but it still hurts. Probably the only people he isn't super suspicious of is Ulysses (they've known each other), Diana (ch1 pathos reasoning), Toshiko (child), Wolfgang (honesty compulsion, literally the first question out of Damon's mouth was "Did you do it?") and maybe Jett (depending on whether the murder attempt would've been quick/painless or not). And even then there's still the little "what if?" being whispered in the back of his mind.

The other soulmates are either taking a support role in the investigations or keeping watch on Damon. But it's still discomforting to know that Damon's treating even the weaker soulmates with a level of caution.

(You should've known, you should've fucking known that a few weeks wouldn't compare to the entire lives they lived outside. You have to suspect all of them. Ignore the little voice in your chest that screams why why why when you do so. Do not breathe a sigh of relief when you have enough proof to cross one of your soulmates off your suspect list. When it's all said and done, do not apologize for trying to preserve your life. Do not mention the nightmares of the people who are supposed to care for you straddling you with hate in their eyes and a dagger in their hands, aimed at your oh-so-vulnerable heart)

Yapping about Kaiser (again)

No because I was thinking about Kaiser's narcissistic traits and how fucking SPOT ON they are its insane.

The hierarchy. The fact kaiser thinks in hierarchies. And its shown pretty explicitly via that one panel of noa and isagi on the stairs and Kaiser looking at them from below after his delusions got shattered.

That + him perceiving(!) Ness as a dog because he is inferior in his hierarchy scale.

And this is such a dismissed trait yet it's The most important when it comes to how narcissistic people navigate interpersonal relationships.

There's always someone inferior. There may be someone superior, too. Unless you're delusional enough. Then you're actually God.

And to think Ness is the main enabler* of those "delusions", esp when it comes to grandiosity, another narcissistic trait Kaiser displays.

*specifying i am not victim blaming Ness

Without Kaiser taking advantage of his fragility, without Ness grabbing onto the single spark that Kaiser had shown him (via... calling him a loser? Lmfao), the kaiser-centric system in bm would not exist.

So Kaiser went from being dismissed by the whole team due to his antisocial behavior/inability to navigate the "human" world to being praised non-stop and considered the fundamental player in their team.

Considering how Kaiser has never received love or recognition beforehand, he got lost in it and got greedy. Kaiser pre chara development is just your local feral stray cat who you adopted and now believes he is the king of the house. I seriously do not blame him for that ngl.

(Esp since he Is a good player. So his delusions werent actually that delusional yk.)

He does think he is The shit though, except at the time he was a v static player. He got too comfortable in the security of ness' passes, too dependent on it, which made his game more predictable and didn't let him evolve to reach his full potential.

I think, with time, his grandiosity may fade a bit, since to me it was strictly linked to Ness and the kaiser-centric system used by BM. That + it is a double edged sword, since it actually slows you down into becoming your better self. If you alreadythibk you're the greatest, there's not much room left for development.

And Kaiser is smart and is actually quite self conscious enough to not fall in past mistakes, not now that he has finally gotten the grasps of how to become a better player. He is a pro when it comes to survival, after all.

So yeah, grandiosity is def not Kaiser's main trait imo. The hierarchy, his callousness and his sadism (his malice) are probably more "pronounced" in his personality, although neither callousness nor sadism are inherently linked to narcissism.

Now, as I just said, sadism is common in people who display narcissistic behaviour but its not inherently narcissistic. It may be linked to antisociality, as well as trauma or repressed rage.

Kaiser, who's been unable to react to his father's abuse for YEARS, has, in fact, more than a decade worth of repressed rage. Except – once again – he does not rebel to whom he considers stronger/superior in his hierarchy.

In this case he sorta acts like your typical bully. Can't react towards an "authority" so he picks on weaker/inferior people. Kaiser feasts on them. But of course, there's no satisfaction into crushing npcs, yk. Hence all that disney villain type of monologue about how Isagi was finally big enough to devour (gay methinks, but thats not the point). Again. Big enough to get the sadistic satisfaction of crushing him but not too big, at least in Kaiser's mind.

(Except karma is a bitch and so is Isagi.)

Also. Can I say that I love how when Kaiser is not masking, he is the literal definition of the person standing emoji. Which is kinda funny but its actually so fucking real. Whoever has experienced dissociation, depersonalisation or derealization knows the drill. And dissociative disorders are sooo so common when it comes to trauma, esp when it comes to physical abuse. Kaiser's perception of his own body is probably so messed up. He got beat up till he bled like almost every day. Kaiser's body was for his father to use as a punching ball for YEARS. Since he was a CHILD.

So, of course, the second kaiser got actual autonomy on his body (for the first time ever!!!) he asked for a tattoo. Because now he gets to customise it as a way to make it his own.

It's his body now.

Also, his lack of empathy/callousness absolutely comes from trauma. Living in a violent environment, being forced to use your reptilian brain 24/7 does not do well to a child, and definitely doesn't help the correct development of certain parts of your brain when it comes to emotions. And Kaiser is still on survival mode.

Tbh. Kaiser's cptsd is severe and deeply intertwined in his personality and how he acts and lives. Even the hierarchy trait is strictly linked to his childhood: eat or get eaten. His father treated him like an extension of himself, a worthless object.

His ability to read people and to recognise Ness as easy prey probably comes from when he used to steal from people. You know, you need to learn quickly how to spot certain patterns and find the perfect victim to rob. He is used to analyse and read people. answer: well. haku's my fav and i would assign him a crepe cake, specifically this matcha one I had at a boba place once. if i had to assign him a specific taste, he wouldn't be overly sweet. he'd have a light, mellow sweetness, mixed with an acquired taste. if you've never had a crepe cake, they typically aren't as sweet as standard cakes, and matcha was more a taste i had to grow accustomed to in order to enjoy. and essentially, that's what that matcha-flavored crepe cake was to me. i prefer sweeter things typically, but he's an exception.

answer: okok i KNOW we've already seen subaru in a haunted house but hear me out on subaru completely letting go of his inhibitions first and then going to a haunted house again. just hear me out. it's quite clear at this point he enjoys horror and the generally macabre, and honestly, im right there with him (if you've seen some of my reposts yea). i think it'd be fun if he really just allowed himself to be himself at a haunted house. id be so excited.

the second ghoul that's the first to come to mind is honestly jiro. i like his laugh and if he laughed at my spooked expressions, so be it. i think he deserves a little joy. plus he's so long that he makes a useful shield methinks. i don't do well with jumpscares so as long as i have someone who is capable of completely blocking my vision im good!

anyways. first ghoul: haku. reliable, quick-witted, and can hold himself together in stressful situations. plus you'd literally have to peel me off of him anyway.

second ghoul: jin. yes. why? teleportation is useful and also i need to see him and haku interact oh my fucking god. me begging the devs pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease i need to see the chronic heartthrob and frosty bastard, both with an obvious crush on mc, interact. please oh my god.

third ghoul: towa. why? i like him sorry. based strictly off of physical appearance, he's one of the most attractive ghouls imo, plus he's a total sweetheart. he serves as my comedic relief while the other three stir up drama.

fourth ghoul: yuri. why? i need to see his pathetic wet cat expression when he finds out he's on a team with his former frostheim dormmates. my god it would be so funny. can you imagine.

thinking of jin giving haku icy glares as haku attempts to look anywhere except directly at jin while yuri shrinks into himself in the corner and i happily fold flower crowns with towa without a care in the world just seems so funny. so funny. i need this to happen. like im giggling this would be so hilarious. if i were mc i would actively pretend to be none the wiser to their history while just laughing in my head the entire time.

plus im a genuine angst enjoyer. i wanna know their history and see the gaping scars the clash left behind.

I've had a few people tell me that they think JD Vance will be president within the year, but I don't buy that. There are a lot of avenues for Donald Trump to leave office, and not a single one of them seems plausible to me.

He's probably not going to die of natural causes. He's about four years younger than Joe Biden, meaning he's basically the same age today as Biden was back in 2021; the fact that Joe Biden is still alive, and the fact that Trump's mom lived to be 88 and his dad lived to be 93, mean it's very likely Trump will still be alive well into the 2030s (if he matches Jimmy Carter, he'll make it to 2046... God help us all...)

He probably won't be assassinated. After the attempt in July, he's sure to get the highest level of secret security any human being has ever had. Nobody will be able to get close to him. (I'm still convinced the attempt was a false flag; he had a squib of fake blood behind his ear, the "shooter" was a patsy, and the secret service shot some random schmuck in the crowd to make it look real; but that's just a theory, a Conspiracy Theory™, thanks for watching!)

He will never be impeached because he owns the House and Senate; every single member who voted against him in 2021 is either gone or has announced plans to leave very soon. Mitt Romney was safe in Utah, but he chose to retire rather than face a primary challenge from a diehard Trump supporter. No Republican in Congress will ever defy Trump again, not when he's the one who appointed the majority of the Supreme Court (methinks Thomas and Alito may resign soon so they doesn't end up pulling a Ginsburg by dying with a future Democrat in office; if not them, Roberts will almost certainly be blackmailed/bribed to retire like Kennedy in 2018).

JD Vance and the cabinet will probably never invoke the 25th amendment to remove him. Trump is not a smart man, but he has the world's strongest self-preservation instinct. I concede that he's easy enough to manipulate because he surrounds himself with opportunistic yes men who know how to butter him up and betray him when it becomes convenient (look at the staff turnover from his first term, all the sycophants who turned around and wrote tell-all books which nobody has ever bothered to read), but I think he has enough true loyalists in his pocket to warn him of any potential schemes behind the scenes. I don't think a majority of his cabinet picks would ally themselves against him because they'd be politically crucified. The rest of the party would back him 100%; Donald Trump IS the Republican Party, so no faction within it can get rid of him, and the mouth-breathers who voted for him would riot if they tried.

I don't think there exists a single scenario in any universe across any possible multiverse in the totality of creation in which Donald Trump would choose to resign from office under his own free will. None. That will NEVER happen. He is a narcissist who relishes in having complete control over his party; he is their face, their voice, their avatar. He is not the kind of person who would willingly step out of the limelight and pass the torch to someone else. Even when he's out of office in 2029 he'll still be president vicariously through whichever successor the Democrats fail to defeat. He's never going to disappear; Ronald Reagan disappeared because he had Alzheimer's and was embarrassed of being seen in public as he deteriorated, but Trump has no shame and none of his family members care enough about him to keep him at home when his mind is gone, they'll parade his catatonic husk around until he dies, and even then he'll have enough instinct left in him to smile and give thumbs up for the camera.

JD Vance will almost certainly get Trump's endorsement in 2028 and effectively run unopposed the same way Trump did in 2024 (nominal opposition that never stood a snowball's chance in hell; Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley were NEVER going to get the nomination over Trump), but I don't think he's going to become president before then. Trump won't let him.

bc like. y e a h. on one hand, kelly is quite literally the only one who knows about pascal’s implications of being the one that set bishop’s car on fire after his blackmail/threats. the only person kelly would’ve told about it is stella, but she clearly has no idea judging by her beliefs that pascal wouldn’t resort to violence. so there’s that

and then, well, kelly isn’t that different himself, is he? kelly, who not only stuck a pike pole in cotner’s back when he had stella at gunpoint, but tried to drive it deeper, and admittedly, probably would’ve killed the guy had pryma not shown up when he did (yes, he did it out of self-defense/protection, but still worth noting methinks). kelly, who almost got into a fight with swat for not letting him through at the rpg scene, and he probably would’ve gotten into one had boden not told him to stand down. kelly, who got right in the guy’s face during the crossover and potentially would’ve said or done a lot nastier had herrmann not stepped in. “i can unravel when it comes to you. that’s never happened to me before”

so yeah. is it at least a little hypocritical for kelly to tell pascal not to do anything drastic? maybe just a bit. but that’s what makes the scene all that more interesting. and between stella and kelly’s conversation in her office, and his and pascal’s, it’s such a wonderful display of his character growth <3

Ok, so I just made a post about Homelander having the most tragic backstory in The Boys so I want to expand a bit on that (although literally no one asked, lmao).

Look, this isn't even about Homelander having the saddest backstory ever. Being turned into a guinea pig in order to create a super weapon is literally a cliché in superhero fiction.

The difference, methinks, is that the only character in his verse with an equally horrific origin story is Soldier Boy. But, take into account: Soldier is 1) another irredeemable villain, and 2) we're basically told he ended up in that situation because he was the most violent, petty, sexist, homophobic, fucked-up man who ever lived. Homelander was litterally just... born in the lab.

For some context, look at this guy:

Magneto has one of the saddest backstories in superhero fiction. And I'm not exaggerating here. My man literally grew up in Auschwitz. But his backstory works in a way that Homelander's doesn't because we ARE supposed to sympathize with Erik. We are supposed to understand the motivations behind his actions, even if we don't condemn them. There's also many other characters in the X-Men's universe who have gone through similar ordeals, because humans being awful and ostracizing others for being different is like, A Main Theme of the comics.

Meanwhile, Homelander's backstory seems to just be an excuse for him to be insane, scary and disturbing. The show never frames it as a reason to sympathize with him. Now, don't get me wrong. I'll be the first one to admit that Homelander's fucked up psychology allows for some pretty metal scenes, and I do enjoy them. But the fact that we're just meant to laugh at that while never really contemplating the implications of what happened to him is bafling to me.

Hey, look at that guy, he was deeply traumatized from a young age, and growing up, he was neither socialized nor given the basic tools a child needs to develop a personality or form basic human connections. Now he's super disturbed, has weird kinks and doesn't really understand how to be a human. Haha, hilarious!

What makes it even worse is that the main characters, who we are supposed to be rooting for, have stories that are for the most part unsympathetic or make no sense.

The backstory of Hughie, our main guy, is that his girlfriend died. We're off to a bad start because we hate the Dead Girlfriend Trope here. He's banging a new chick like, a week later (?) and then rarely thinks about Robin again.

We have Frenchie, a guys who kills people and it makes him sad (?), but he never really stops.

Annie and M.M. have sympathetic stories with good motivations, but they are not really expanded upon. At times, it really feels like Annie is just there to have Relationship Problems with Hughie. Which, you know, doesn't make any fucking sense because she's the face of the nation-wide political movement that opposes Homelander. By all accounts, SHE should be Homelander's nemesis, not Butcher. And instead we get a rivalry with Firecracker? Seriously?

In the first seasons, M.M was literally just There. Then, we get his backstory with Soldier Boy, but for some reason his generic Divorced Dad arc is a priority over that. Great.

With Maeve we had the potential of an amazing backstory, but again, it's not really expanded upon. It's implied that she had a dysfunctional relationship with Homelander, but we don't really know what happened. Was it consensual? Was it entirely coerced? Was it abusive? If it was, what did he do to her? How did she manage to break up with him without getting killed in the process? Like, we're missing so much context with Maeve, it's not even funny.

Then, we have A-Train, who starts off on a path to redeem himself inspired by the death of his girlfriend, whom he killed himself (?). Then he realizes that Homelander Must Be Stopped because he makes fatphobic comments (?????). He gets his brother paralyzed and kills a guy to take revenge (still unsure if that was supposed to be a heroic act, tbh). And then finally he earns his redemption by taking a guy to the hospital (?????????) and that's enough for Hughie to forgive him for KILLING HIS GIRLFRIEND. Bitch, what?? It's the worst redemption arc I've ever seen and people are literally comparing it to Zuko's. Get my man out of your mouth!!!

And finally, Butcher, a guy whose entire story and motivations are based on something that happened to someone else. Why did we ever make Becca's rape about him??? And THEN it just turns into the typical Dead Girlfriend Trope. I mean, S3 was the only time when his character arc made any sense to me because it was actually dealing with interesting themes like cycles of abuse and bad parenting, but his story in other seasons is really not It.

Literally, the only exception to all of this is Kimiko. Who is also violent and unstable, who also can't stop killing and is unapologetic about it because she is what they made her. But for some reason we're supposed to sympathize her but not with Homelander. Weird take, but ok.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that you need to sympathize with the Nazi rapist. I'm just calling out the writers for being bad, lmao.

I wanna get this brain idea out and this ask is like loosely related to it so I'm gonna info dump here

I've had so many thoughts about an au where Ryoma ends up surviving and ends up seeing Gonta's execution-

Like leading up to this- it all starts when Ryoma is starting to head to his lab after seeing his motive video- he's broken because of what he saw in it. But before he gets to his lab Gonta ends up spotting him and takes him to his own lab after seeing how depressed he looks...

The two of them bond as Gonta tries to find ways to get Ryoma to cheer up. It results in Gonta sticking by Ryoma's side and Ryoma just letting it happen because: "Tch, there's no point in telling him to buzz off." and after a bit... Ryoma starts to get attached as Gonta tries to bring purpose into his life again. Gonta becomes one of the reasons he wants to live...

In chapter 4 you know what happens... Ryoma is fucking distraught, he's not like- visibly breaking down but his head definitely isn't in the right space, his reason to live left as soon as it came. As Gonta is sent to his execution he urges Ryoma to live for him and not give up, that he can still help everyone escape even if Gonta is not there...

I dunno I think about it so much,,, angst potential is insane methinks- there should be more goshi angst... if only I were good at writing or something........

Try my hand at starting a tag game, cause I think i have an interesting idea. Sirens are on my mind after Epic, so:

Sirens sing about what one desires most. So if you character encountered some Sirens, what would your character see/what would the sirens sing about? this can apply to your Fanfic or OC works, methinks

i'll start:

Tira: Tira would definitely hear or see peace, with her family and Lilli, and the rest of her Chapter, too. i think, mostly Lilli.

Lilli: of knowledge. infinite knowledge. like a library, that contains all the knowledge possible.

Camellia: Camellia denies it but she really wants her childhood back. she would see a life with a mom who loves her, before she had any of her duties.

Erain: Erain would see just one thing: home. Mom, dad, siblings and Fiancé- that's the dream for him, after the War.

I kept it kind of basic but i think it has potential.
