Hello! My name is Tee and this is me FINALLY getting round to making my introductory post! I’ve had this blog just over a week now and I feel like I’ve settled myself in enough to actually introduce myself now. 

My name is Tayla (Tee) and I’m 20 years old living in the UK. I go to Royal Holloway University where I’m in my second year studying English Literature (specialising in Victorian Literature) and I really, really, REALLY love books. And tea, I’m fond of tea too. 

I have four cats when I’m at home so expect them to crop up from time to time as they like to do their best from distracting me from studying and demanding attention. As well as reading books I’m an aspiring writer too and it’s my dream job to be a full time novelist! I know it’s a bit of a stretch but a girl can dream, eh? 

As well as writing critical and creative pieces I like to make short videos talking about books I’m studying and ones I’ve just enjoyed reading. I’ll put a link to my YouTube channel at the bottom of the post as well as a link to my instagram which is mainly pictures of cats and the occasional seflie. 

I started this studyblr mainly because I have my exam in Victorian literature coming up in the next month and wanted to motivate myself to get really productive! I knew a little bit about the studyblr community but not much but everyone seems so lovely and everyones notes are gorgeous! In the long term I want to keep being productive as I have a tendency to slip a little in my studies, I’m hoping that this blog will help me to keep up with everything and that you all will inspire me in new and exciting ways! 

I have to thank @z-oologystudy for being the inspiration for starting this blog as she introduced me to this community. She’s super fantastic irl as well as online.

Ambient sounds and ASMR have been very helpful for me during my uni years to help me focus on my studies, relax and calm my anxiety (this last year, I found myself looking for ambient sound videos almost every time I had to study for an exam! ).

june 9, 2017 - what’s the biggest thing you learned last semester?

#ssn june challenge: week 1, day 4

i think the biggest thing that i learned this past semester was learning how to really do research and how to work with unfamiliar people. in my world music class, we were assigned a semester-long research project (you can read a little more about it here, and special thanks to my good friend @jinstudies for being part of it!), working together with randomly selected people in the class. sifting through a myriad of readings, asking the right questions, and formulating a truly solid thesis was difficult and stressful. i was fortunate enough that my teammates and i got along very well and we were successful in the end (we got an A on our final paper!), but i know that in the real-world workplace, you don’t always get to choose who you want to work with, and you won’t always get to be that lucky. you encounter all kinds of obstacles, and you may disagree on things every now and then, but you learn to deal with what you’ve got, compromise, and cooperate with others while kindly respecting one another. it may even seem daunting at first, but you will soon see yourself bloom and grow!

1.    What is the meaning behind your tumblr url?

Interesting! I don’t really remember what was the first url I had, but I was into writing letters to someone I called “my angel” so I dediced to use “diario-de-un-angel” because of that and also it seemed to be a pretty name!

2.    What do you think are the best traits for a person to have?

I believe... Loyalty, Respecfulness and compassion.

3.    What is your idea of the perfect day?

4.    What scares you most about your future?

I would say not being a successful person but I’m afraid mostly of regretting things I didn’t do...

5.    What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?

To be honest, I don’t know... How do you decide that?

6.    What has been the lowest point of your life?

My life has not been the same since 2007, I feel like I’ve been through a lot of things since then, it takes my “happiness” or peace away sometimes yet.

7.    What does success mean to you?

I don’t know, for me maybe it depends on the situation I am or how I feel, because sometimes I tend to relate that to my studies or the achievements I made... weird answer, sorry!

8.    What are you most passionate about?

I like admiring things: art, music, writers...

9.    If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’ve heard New Zealand is a good place!

10. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

That I want to eat all the world at once!

Introductions

I’m a bit rubbish when it comes to introductions so here goes nothing.

My name is Hanah. I am a twenty-two year old university student. I have a degree in Graphic Design and I will be going back to university in the fall (hopefully) for History of Art. I am not new to studyblr, had this blog up for a long time now and had failed epically at posting on it. Here I am with attempt two of A Study(blr) in Black.

About me:

I am a Ravenclaw. (and proud to be one!)

I currently live in the US.

I am addicted to books. (hence the very fitting literary reference in my name and the fact that I have over 300 books)

I have a dog. He is a black and tan shiba inu. His name is Gudetama.

I love to create custom tennis shoes and denim jackets.

I am an avid fan of anything Wes Anderson or Studio Ghibli.

I have a crazy music collection. CDS, Vinyl, Cassettes. I’ve got it all. I love music and it is something that I really love sharing with people.

Reasons for starting a studyblr:

having a studyblr is a great way to teach people about the things I am learning and also help me revise.

the resources (such as printables and masterlists) are very helpful.

making new friends that share an interest in studying/stationery/etc.

I am taking a few courses on Coursera at the moment but other than that I am waiting to hear back from a University to begin studying in the fall.
