I believe Bobby is coming back from the dead because I think we deserve to live in a world where Kenneth Choi gets to act his ass off by playing a simultaneously relieved/joyous and angry/furious Chimney, who feels like he has to thank Bobby, but also scream at him until his throat is sore because it wasn't fair to make that decision! he's going to say they should have played rock, paper, scissors and Bobby will chuckle because he thinks he's joking like silly haha Chimney, but Chimney is like "no, we should have discussed it, you died and I didn't even get to say thank you. you died and I owed you a debt I didn't even know about. you let me carry that" and he has to wrestle with the guilt of knowing that Bobby would do that for him, not just theoretically, but actual concrete proof that Bobby would die to save him. which they all know on some surface level that they'd die for one another, but it feels like such a far-off concept until it isn't. but Chimney also has to deal with the gratitude because Chimney is also so incredibly thankful that he didn't die. every step of the way he wanted Ravi, Bobby, Buck, and Athena to commit crimes, because he loves his life and he wants to keep living it. he's so overjoyed that he got to go home to his wife and kid, and that comes with its own guilt because how can he be so happy to be home when Bobby DIED. does that make him a monster? that on some level he's HAPPY that Bobby did that? and now he has to FACE Bobby. so he tries to be the Before Chimney who gets people whimsical gifts, but how do you give someone balloons about choosing your life over theirs? and he spirals because he's different now and Bobby is here and he has so so much he wants to say but all of it feels contradictory and unfair and he would normally go to Bobby for advice. so he does. he goes to Bobby and he says "what would you do, if you were in my position?" and Bobby just says "whatever you need to say or feel, I understand" and that just makes Chimney even more upset because what he needs is for none of this to have ever happened. its like they all got a re-do, but kept the memories and the feelings and now he has nowhere appropriate to put them. anyway, Bobby lives and we get Chimney angst yay <3 forever and ever.

I see people talk a lot about how Ketheric is the best villain in BG3 because he's serious and has genuine sympathetic motivations while Orin and Gortash are just going "heehee I love being evil" and I feel like these people have missed what a massive fucking loser and piece of shit Ketheric Thorm is. I say this as a Ketheric lover--I am rotating this man in my brain so often--but my god he sucks so bad.

Like I don't want to minimise the grief of losing your loved ones before their time, and I can't even imagine how horrific it must be to have to bury your child. But plenty of people have to do that and then don't become war criminals about it. Ketheric murdered a lot of other people's families in his grief, even before becoming Myrkul's Chosen in return for getting Isobel resurrected. (And ofc, his treatment of Isobel is more Control and Abuse and lying about her girlfriend being dead when he's actually torturing her than about being a sweet doting dad who loves his daughter, but that's a whole other post.)

Gortash is repressing his tragic backstory and delighting in hurting people the way he was hurt. Orin is too deep in a lifetime of cult brainwashing to recognise that she has a tragic backstory until the very last moment, and trying desperately to get family approval the only way she's ever been taught (murder). Ketheric only looks more tragic on the surface because he's marinating in his backstory. He is not in any way a better or more complex person for it, he's just a deeply sad man, in more than one sense of the word.

He absolutely benefits from having an entire act built around his storyline and having it be actually well written, while Orin and Gortash have to share Act 3 and then get upstaged by a talking brain as the Big Bad! But being voiced by JK Simmons doesn't make Ketheric not a loser.

possible buddie conflicts for don't drink the water @schrodingersbobby and i concocted in a joint meltdown:

eddie trying to get buck to open up about his grief but buck's too far removed from it so he makes a jab "shouldn't you be running back to texas by now"

buck asking to go with eddie because LA doesn't feel like home anymore and eddie saying no because he's already started thinking about coming home but buck takes it as an outright rejection and lashes out

buck starts pulling riskier shit at work now bobby isn't there to pull him up on it and because if anyone's going to take the risk it has to be him and eddie confronting him about it with a callback to "you're not expendable" and all the grief spirals it into a blowout

buck holding it together to be there for everyone but eddie's talking to hen and a father brian rather than him and eddie's only doing it because he knows how much buck is carrying and he doesn't want to put anything else on his shoulders right now but buck just thinks he's not good enough to confide in/not doing a good enough job of holding himself together

the turn from cameron and wilson being our house-related co-conspirators to it being cuddy and wilson is so fast you don't even realize it. you go from season 2 to season 3 and all of a sudden wilson and cuddy are around each other so much more, and the premiere of that season solidifies them as our new co-conspiring duo.

i think it's really easy to go through the entire show and feel like wilson and cuddy were close the entire time but... they weren't. prior to season 3 they had very little to do with each other. i wouldn't necessarily call it a relationship retcon; Meaning seems to imply that they had grown closer in the two months between the end of season 2 and beginning of season 3, and even before that with the date in Forever. but there is a very distinct jump in their closeness and likelihood to share a scene or scheme between seasons.

prior to season 3, it was pretty firmly cameron and wilson playing the roles of The Ones That Care About House--not that cuddy didn't care about house at that time, just that she did it solitarily--so i find it interesting that they all but completely ditched the cam/wilson duo for cuddy/wilson in this season.

the reason that i believe this happened is quite the boring one; cuddy needed more screentime, and it evens out the character dynamics. they're trying to solidify her as being a Main Character, now that she's getting her own storylines, as well as the fact that this season is the one where the role of 'love interest' for house undoubtedly shifts to cuddy, where it'll stay for the rest of the show. the closer cuddy gets to house, the closer she has to be to wilson. the less that cameron is interested in house, the less she feels the need to seek out wilson, and vice versa.

it's strange how unnoticable this change is when you aren't paying attention, though. because it doesn't come out of nowhere, it does build, it isn't like wilson and cuddy have never plotted before (hello! Detox!) or that cameron and wilson stopped having scenes together completely. it's just that things are changing. in a way that feels... sort of natural, so it doesn't really catch you off-guard. it's kinda jarring on paper, but in practice i think it works.

character dynamics are changing. character roles are changing. change is a big theme of the season, and though it's quite hammered in by the finale, it starts at the very beginning. with these two!!! there's a reason the first real scene of season 3 is of cuddy and wilson conspiring in her office. it's solidifing this change, without us even realizing it.

Keralis cocks his head to the side and changes the camera they’re looking at. He clicks a few buttons that XB has never seen him use, then he’s laughing again. The camera zooms in on Tek. He’s grinning, blood pouring from his nose as a rink manager forces him out of the arena. His eyes are wild and bright, like he enjoyed getting beat into the ice.

“That was some crazy foreplay.” Keralis giggles. Again, as if they aren’t live broadcasting to the entire city. 

“I don’t think—”

Or; After a fight on the ice, Jimmy and Tango continue their argument in the locker room.

IT'S TIME FOR THE ANNUAL DOGYDAYZ ART POST!! Sorry for being inactive here, for anyone interested, I have a Bsky I use far more often now (DogyDayz there too!). I mostly stepped away from Tumblr because I just felt like my work wasn't exactly meant for this platform, but Scourge being one of my favs who I have VERY specific ideas abt and interps of also contributed. I can't exactly help how particular I am about him (or Fiona), and being a system with both of them as headmates doesn't do much to help either, so I just decided to stick to my friend groups. BUT!!!
