hello friends!

i posted this link on bsky + twt as well, but wanted to share for my tumblr-only beloveds too 💛

i wrote a very short personal essay about finding community and self-love in unexpected places 🥰 if you are interested in reading!!

thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement towards this piece so far. i am grateful for my community and the support i receive…i do not take it for granted! it means a whole lot to me!! vulnerability is never easy, but i hope this helps someone feel less alone.

sometimes, things feel very isolating and all-consuming in the moment, especially during a tumultuous chapter of life. but such experiences are common, and i have had a wonderful time talking with y'all about it. i am holding everyone's messages and stories very gently in my palm. so so privileged to get to do this!!!! some very lovely and heartfelt convos in my DMs :)

Yay it will let me send asks now! Anyways how does clover react to all the changes on the surface? A LOT would have changed after all (especially if they were REALLY a cowboy)

Actually, I made separate concepts exploring Clover’s Homelife. Including the dialogue from In-game.

Concept 1.

If Clover was REALLY a Cowpoke (Yes, there IS a neutral word for Cowboys/girls, they’re also known as Wranglers or Ranch Hand!) then I would think that Clover depending if you wish to include Flowey from the previous posts about the AfterMath; Would be confused, but would also try to wander aimlessly trying to find their hometown/house, for they prioritize getting back home SOON as possible, the news about the human souls? The monsters? Those can wait.

I doubt anyone will notice a kid that has missing for a COUPLE of years, but I bet they will surely notice the sentient flower with a face of course. But since it’s [Insert what year you think.] I bet Clover and Flowey will be given suspicious stares and glances. They think it’s a Halloween costume 😭

Until maybe, somehow. Someone will recognize the child that looks awfully similar to the kid that disappeared in Mt. Ebott OR maybe someone realizes that KID has a REAL gun on their hands, maybe which may in a cause. Might get the police involved.

Fun fact: Me and a moot discussed that, when Frisk buys the Gun and Cowboy hat from Batty and Catty, they can have to option to return those two items back to Clover when they both meet again in a cutscene during Undertale.

Which of course made me split the scenario AGAIN, into 2 alternate time-lines.

Scenario 1. (Clover and perhaps Flowey get taken to the police station for questioning)

Or…

Scenario 2. (Clover and perhaps Flowey escape the police, making them wanted by the police.)

Take note, This AU takes place during the Pacifist Route of Clover, so Fighting the Police is a BIG NO NO.

(I also wanted to detail Flowey telling Clover to attack, like what happened between Chara and Asriel. Which reminded him about it.)

Either way, Both scenarios and concepts will only lead to ONE THING. Clover and Flowey get into Hiding.

This leads to Concept 2. Based on this information what on what could presumably Clover's home life be.

Concept 2.

This could be the reason why Clover was so PRONE to be able to get persuaded to stay with Toriel or ANYONE.

Clovers parents were probably poor and weren't treated right, which would make sense as to why Clover wants Justice. Or perhaps Clover didn't really HAVE parents and was probably in a cramped orphanage.

Nevertheless, Concept 2 digs into Clover's home issues. Even though I wish I could explain more, but in a short story.

Clover DOES find their house, there's only one floor, no windows, and it looks abandoned. Flowey questions it, and Clover shrugs and states ‘💛Always been like that.’ Making Flowey so DAMN suspicious about Clover's home life. And once Clover opens the door, it just all-in-one room, no walls to have privacy, just like Starlos house. But way more dirty, dusty, and cramped, there are some broken glass on the floor which Clover avoids, scattered garbage and papers, a typical thing you see for a hoarder type room.

Or Clover was just homeless kid who lived with poor and cramped conditions that they felt like they got robbed of something and wanted justice not for themselves but for others too.

Either way, Flowey takes notes of it and looks uneasy and nervous about Clover’s home life. Which causes Flowey to talk to them about the situation they are in.(Maybe making a fanfic or comic about the convo.)

oh my god........ im emotional fr. this was so, so, SO much fun and stella, i will speak for EVERYONE you sent these asks to when i say that we are all so grateful to YOU for organizing it. you brought the community together in such an amazing way, asking us thought-provoking and interesting questions, a lot of which i never would have thought to ask. and yet i got to learn all my mutuals' answers anyway!!! it made me feel like i really got to know everyone, even the people im too scared to start a convo with bc i am a Coward. i love you, we all adore you, thank you SO much, and i cant wait to see where smoshblr goes in the new year now that we are all closer than ever <3<3<3<3<3

domo day/my birthday: oh my god. OHHHH my god. literally the fic that brought me back to this fandom. i am not crying its fine im FINE. domo - aka dancing on my own - was a passion project from the very start. i thought, 'well, no one will wanna read this niche lil fic that im writing just to deal with My very personal trauma about an rpf ship that no one cares about.' (mind you i started it before i even posted right side, so, like, i literally thought it was just me standing on a deserted island.) and then five or six months later... there we were. i posted it on my birthday (bc i Live for drama !) and god. the amount of love and support i got that day was... everything to me. when i said this was a passion project, i mean that it was truly one of the first things i sat down and wrote For Myself, without giving a fuck what anyone else would think. it was something i poured my heart and soul into because i needed to read it. and when other people started to reach out - telling me how much they related, how much they got from it, how much it meant to them. then there was the analyses of it from everyone,,,, not to mention the birthday love. my birthday is a HUGE thing for me, and, as i told you at the time, you were the very first person to wish me a happy birthday stella (with that incredible moodboard that i think of frequently........ the rat.........). and then kit went and published bad idea and gifted it to ME which was such an incredible and treasured gesture and... truly some of my irls forgot to wish me a happy birthday so. im just so honored and i love you all so much. thank you for loving me and my dearest darling daughter domo <333333

shaynse day: this literally isn't even about me, it's honestly about nat, but this changed my brain chemistry and i think everybody's tbh. it was the way that the MOMENT the love is blind video dropped, we all gathered around my blog to hold hands, sing kumbaya, and all hail the shaynse anon (aka now shaynse founder nat). they had their third eye OPEN. and everyone had to come check on them to make sure they were okay. that meant so much to me. not only did it mean that enough people were reading my blog that an anon had their own niche subset of a fan base, but it was truly like. one of the best displays of fandom togetherness i've ever seen. we were all so united that day. god bless november 19th, aka shaynse day, my FAVORITE national holiday.

I loved your moon posts so much!!

I have a newborn niece that has a Hasta Sun, so I’m starting to worry on whether she’s going to grow up displaying such negative Moon traits. She’s only a baby, so ofc, it’s impossible to tell, and I intend to not make my worry into reality 😭 In a way, your post helped me get an idea on what to keep an eye out for. A good example to study these traits in my life would have to be my brother, who has a Hasta Stellium. I think he does display these…tendencies, like when he expresses his views on certain subjects, I call him out and create a counter argument, then he’s like “lmao I’m just shitting you, don’t have to take it so seriously?” Dude, what?? You started that convo, so why can’t we talk about it, especially because you expressed an untrue, problematic thought? 💀 You sounded pretty serious yet it’s me who is being serious unnecessarily 💀💀 This was a while ago, and lately, he’s been very chill so I don’t know if he’s maturing or just choosing to keep his “opinions” to himself. 😭 I’ll just have to find out sooner and later. What I do know—as of late—is that he seems more understanding. Maybe I’m being hopeful because he’s my brother and I care a lot about family & values. Again, I will just have to see. Highkey I wanna hear about ur writing mfa bc I’ve been considering one! What’s ur experience been like?!?

Omg yeah, I’m always down to talk about it! My program is through Eastern Washington University (potentially doxxing myself) which I think used to be more hoity toity as far as writing programs go? It’s still a good program, but it’s like, a good regional program. Anyway, I would definitely recommend that wherever you look at applying to, just check out if you’re comfortable with how competitive/exclusive it is, because I wouldn’t do well in a program that’s super exclusive, lol. I’m in the Fiction track, but there are also generally Nonfiction and Poetry tracks. (My school doesn’t have a NF track anymore ☹️) A lot of my cohort are interested in authoring novels as part of their careers, but MFAs generally aren’t set up to teach people how to write novels, they’re very oriented toward the short story (for workshop’s sake, which is understandable and also kind of a bummer if you’re a novelist). We do lit crit sort of with 3 quarters of Form & Theory classes, one of which is the novel which I’m taking right now, but otherwise the focus has largely been on short fiction.

Overall, I would say go for that art degree if you 1) get funded (most important!!!!) and 2) have a semblance of a career plan after graduating. The funding is huge, because otherwise you’re taking on huge loans (in the US) for a degree in which you probably won’t land a job right out of school, unless you live in NYC or are willing to relocate, which I’m not right now. Having plans or goals is also important because there are seriously so many amazing opportunities to take in an MFA, and knowing where you want to end up can help you focus your energy somewhere you’re already passionate/you want to know more about. For my school, funded positions include teaching undergrad comp classes, managing editor of the university’s grad lit mag, managing editor of the university’s press, coordinator position for a literary festival (I was lucky enough to get that one), and coordinator for Writers in the Community, a program that connects underfunded local programs like homeless shelters, senior centers, schools, and prison with MFA students to teach creative writing. So, lots of opportunities to branch out and try new things, even without a funded opportunity (I am volunteering in WITC this quarter and reading slush for the magazine, for example). There are also tons of opportunities outside of the school, such as going to AWP or to writing workshops during the summer.

📝 I loveeee Penny with my entire heart, I didn't think I was gonna love her this much until the day before I got the game I just randomly started hyperfixating on her and the more I learned about her and interacted with her the more I loved her n now she's my absolute favorite Pokemon character and she's been living in my brain since 2022!! I never expected Nemona to be so relatable!! She's so similar to me and she's so adorable and I love her sm!! At first I didn't really like Arven, but after playing a bit of the Path of Legends I realized he's so sweet and he needs a hug (he's my least fave of the three, but I still love him sm)!!

🌲Kieran had me in SUCH A CHOKEHOLD. I was not expecting to love him so much, and actually I thought Carmine was gonna be my hyperfixation before playing. I was so wrong. I love them both sm tho. Kieran was so absolutely relatable and Carmine was so funny and so beautiful. Carmine deserves better tbh and I could genuinely go on about how she deserved to have some sort of closure like what Kieran got cuz they never really actually gave her proper closure like Kieran got (Indigo Disk could've been perfect since her and Kieran kinda switched places in it, but Pokemon absolutely flopped with that).

🫐 I was not expecting to love them sm, but they're literally all so amazing in their own ways!! My top favorite is probably Amarys or Lacey!! Amarys was so relatable (tbh when I saw her in the trailers I thought she was gonna be a teacher and not a student FJEJWK) and I liked her more than I thought I would!! Lacey reminds me a lot of me back when I first started Pokemon cuz I used to use a lot of cute Pokemon and it was my last year of my super overly girly part of my life. But Lacey is so sweet and is very underrated imo!! Crispin is so silly and also was very relatable!! He's basically me if I were good at cooking- And Drayton was def interesting!! At first I absolutely hated his guts for the way he'd treat Kiki, but over time I grew attached to him and I think he's so funny, although I still don't like how he treats Kiki. The idea of him manipulating us also kinda urks me, even tho it was for a good cause, I just don't really like manipulators- 😭

🗣️ HERE COMES THE EXPLOSION EVERYONE RU- dude I have so many things to say about this game. First off, I have to thank it for literally saving me. I was deep in my Danganronpa phase, it was looking bad cuz I'd been hyperfixated on pokemon for the longest time and Danganronpa has pretty much killed it off until- BOOM!! I got pokemon violet for Christmas. I was in love with this game. Sure, it's a buggy, glitchy, rushed mess, but the writing, characters, mechanics, and pokemon absolutely made up for that imo. Maybe I'm biased cuz I wasn't there during release week nor did I know much about what happened bug-wise during that time (I was avoiding the Internet until I was able to get the game which I knew was either going to be during the holidays or after them), but still I feel like these games had some of the best writing EVER in the franchise. All of the characters were amazing in their own way (and bonus points cuz none of them were perfect; they all had some sort of flaws) and genuinely they were so modern and human to me. I remember having a convo with a friend and telling them of we were to count video games characters as our friends, then I was counting Penny, Nemona, and Arven (Kiki n Carmine didn't exist yet). Also on the topic of them, can we talk about how they finally nailed the friend group dynamic/trope thing they've been trying to do since gen 5? Honestly, don't get me wrong I love Cheren and Bianca (personally them + the player is my second fave friend group dynamic), but I think ESTABLISHING is as friends rather than forming the bond ourselves is what made it not as special. I haven't played B2W2 so I'm skipping that explanation- XY unfortunately had the burden of being unfinished, due to their scrapped sequel situation, which also caused the writing in that game to suck. The friend group not only was, once again, established, but also the only friend that was even decently written was Shauna (and really that's just the anime writing, I don't remember much about her game writing), the other friends were so bland and 1-dimensional. Gen 7 I can't really tell if they were trying to make us form a friend group or if it was more like we had separate friends. Galar, while I hate to say this cuz they're my 3rd favorite Pokemon friend group, was a combined issue of XY's issue and SM/USUM's issue: it wasn't an actual group and also the characters were pretty 1 dimensional (at least in Bede and Marnie's case; Bede being completely problematic and flopping into completely perfect, and Marnie being ignored for the most part causing her to barely have any writing [justice for Marnie btw, she deserves SM better]). Scarlet and Violet did it correctly. They started out with three round characters who we form bonds with and eventually have us form a group. Then, we take two other round characters we've befriended and add them to the group, making a fun, chaotic group dynamic that I've just fallen head over heels for. Along with this, I absolutely love the fact they make the legendaries feel human.

(Any part after this might kinda be half-assed, I had the rest of the ramble written and I went to save it and it fucking disappeared I'm so mad about it but I really want to participate in it so I'm finishing it and hoping to try to resay what I said)

The legendaries (apart from the treasures of ruin and terapagos) had like BACKSTORIES, not just something out of a textbook but like actual trauma. They also had their own personalities which I really enjoyed!! They were so lovable and it made me really attached to them!! Also, genuinely (apart from the treatment the female rivals get compared to the male rivals), this fandom is so nice and cool!! There's not too many issues (apart from what I mentioned) and everyone has been the most creative I've ever seen from the pokemon fandom in awhile (as someone who's been in it for about 10 years)!! There's so many cool AUs, stories, OCs, artworks, and other things that I've seen ever since SV came out!! I've made so many friends from it, and even met my qpp because of our shared love for Penny!! Genuinely, this is one of the best fandoms I've ever been in. This is not the pokemon fandom I grew up with (/pos), this is the SV fandom and I love it so much!! These games have been absolute sources of comfort for me and I love them so much. These games, this fandom, this is home. I love them so much, they're my favorite Pokemon games ever. They're my greatest treasure <33
