Things to think about when learning to run:

Talent is fake. Ok maybe some people are genetically gifted with longer legs and bigger lungs and will always find running easier. But this doesn’t mean you can’t learn to run.

You have to start slow. No, slower than that. Really slow. You shouldn’t actually be getting out of breath at all. I know that sounds insane, you’ve been out of breath your whole life. You almost puked after running the mile in middle school. You did puke after your first 10k at age 12. But that’s because you weren’t going slow enough. Oh, and you didn’t know what thirst was so you never drank water. That made it a lot worse.

You have to drink water. No I know you don’t ever feel thirsty. Learning to understand what signals your body is sending when it needs water before you get a cracking headache and throw up is going to be key here. Yes, drink when you are not thirsty. You’ll start to understand eventually. You don’t have to bring water on short runs, thankfully.

Discomfort is ok, but you tend to go too far the other way and ignore pain. Don’t do that, you’ll need those joints later. Take the rest days.

if i had a partner i would wake them up right now and i would say babe wake up im thinking about the plants that went extinct in the kt boundary comet blast again. babe the world has ended 1 million times and i want to grieve for every single one of them and its really messed up except for immediately after the kt extinction event when the ferns had so much sex they left an observable stripe of spore-dense matter fossilized in the rock forever, like that part was kinda funny. i think i have a stmoach ulcer again btw
