strangers have never scared daryl, but he must admit that this one in particular is... different. it's not fear that he feels, necessarily, but a nagging jab of pure instinct that needles its way through his body as he takes in the presence of the man before him. somehow @innerwar is imposing: there's an energy, an invisible wave of power that radiates from him. it makes him uneasy for reasons daryl doesn't understand.

‘ ain't lookin' for no trouble, ’ he says, eyes raking with disquieted scrutiny over dracula's form. he's too relaxed for daryl's liking. it makes him think that this could be some kind of ambush— maybe he has friends hiding in the trees, just waiting for the signal to jump out at him. one single pistol, the only weapon he can see the stranger carrying, sits clean as a whistle at dracula's belt; come to think of it, he's oddly clean for being out here alone.

daryl's hands itch for his bow, for any one of his weapons, but an oppressive flow of intention keeps them at his side. dread climbs through his stomach. he wants to run. he can't run. all he can do is glare, taking one terse step backward.

a few months ago, it was his birthday, and i wanted to say my words but i decided to keep it short to save it for the anniversary :)

i remember when i was still very fresh to id.v, it was 2018 back then. the concept of new survivors joining the faction was still a brand new thing to me ... i remember when aes.op carl came out, i was always eager to find new characters to play with!

i remember when nor.ton were teased to come out. i didn't think much of him, but i did adore his design a lot. i remember that well. his playstyle confused silly me back then, so i had nothing but appreciation for prospector mains at the time

i don't know how it happened, but one thing led to another - i made an oc for this game, but it was for the purpose of roleplaying with a friend (who also happened to be the reason why im playing, hi xelle <3) and i thought it would be very fun to pair her with nor.ton. but as i slowly learn about him more and more, i came to like him a lot! favorite character at best. it was hard to learn anything about him, because his lore was little to nothing at the time.

i suppose, the more i just shipped irene with nor.ton as is, the more i started to actually like him, and started to project my feelings more into the ship. but i only had myself and xelle to share this at the time, and then i dropped the game for a few years.

for a brief time, nor.ton debut on my tumblr around 2021 or 2022? i had a little spark that made me miss him, and so i indulged for a bit. but it was short lived, unfortunately.

and another spark came in, when fool's gold became a real concept. he became a hunter. i still look back at this silly post of mine and giggle about it... the final nail in the coffin was when i decided to watch id.v stageplay and goodness gracious i fell back in the hole so hard and look at me. typing this out as i celebrate the 6 years ive known this man

while i regret not being with him in-between my years- i'm glad i can catch up to genuine lore that has been provided for him and it's still ongoing, so it feels like i can fix myself into the loop again :) now that i finally know his story, i feel incredibly attached to him for that too. he feels right at home in my heart again, i hope younger me is happy that i'm back to him again ^^ his story is nothing but difficulty- the kind of struggle that almost hits close to home sometimes and i truly care for what he's gone through. he is such an amazing character design and i want to continue appreciating him as much as i can. his story is still unfolding, and i look forward to the future for that :)

it was absolutely freezing tonight but the moon was lovely and full and bright so i got inspired.

occasionally, on nights where his Harbinger duties are tucked and locked away, you and Childe steal away for a few hours, just the two of you. the icy temperatures are his favorite- it reminds him of home- and he gets to see you all bundled up in an overcoat, or even his uniform cloak. one day, he swears he'll get you some thick, warm clothes from Snezhnaya, if anything just to see you melt and fall asleep in them in front of the fireplace. then, of course, to pull you against him and snuggle his face against your hair as he admires your drowsy expression.

Childe tugs your hand gently, almost twirling you around as you make your way down the winding stone path, breath puffing into small clouds of mist. your gloves are thin- too thin for the chill of tonight- but his fingers are warm and sturdy, marked by calluses and tiny scars as he laughs and pulls you along, giving you that trademark grin that shows all his teeth and every freckle. he urges you along, encouraging you towards the top of a craggy, distant peak where the moon shines bright above the clouds, mist dancing at your feet. and he hugs you there. tight, secure, his nose pressed against your neck and inhaling with a blissful sigh. Childe looks at you with such adoration, a gleam of deep contentment and love in his azure eyes.

they close after a moment in a soft smile, drops of water and violet lightning whirling and crackling for a split second before you're wrapped in armor and claws and a strong, rumbling purr. Legacy nuzzles against you, chasing away the icy cold with his embrace. the full moon reflects in his crystalline eye as he gently kneads against your shoulders, trying to help the rock-hard muscles that come from the daily toil of living and breathing. but he soon just gathers you close, rolling over in the grass so you're tucked against his side and staring up at the stars- then him. you watch him instead with a smile, tapping each little mark on his crimson mask with your fingertips and listening to him croon and trill in delight.

when he's here, you have no need for the moon's pale glow.

Every time I watch the cold open of Memorial and B'Elanna tells Tom about how she ASSEMBLED a 50's television set from SCRATCH just to surprise him (there's no reason beyond that - just an incredibly sweet and thoughtful gesture) and replicated popcorn for him to eat while he watches and Tom says "They didn't have remote controls in the 50's ♥ Also where's my beer?" I contemplate murder ESPECIALLY because B'Elanna responds cheerfully to it - GIRL!!! LEAVE HIM!!!!!! IS HE SUPPOSED TO BE CHARMING IN THIS SCENE????

"MOOOOOOOOM"

"Going... To check on my daughter, be right back sorry." Veronica blurted out mid call, soon muting herself mid meeting and bolted out of her office. In the living room, a shocked Shelly with her hands over her mouth sat on the floor, Vee trembling right beside her with glitchy red tears streaming down her screen, her arm bleeding ichor.

Another rough housing gone wrong incident.

Oh boy.

"Vee, oh honey, let me patch you up. Come on, I can't miss too much of the meeting, I-I'm probably fired-"

"Mom I don't think you're going to be fired for helping me out..." Vee muttered, sniffling as she got up and soon let Veronica lead her off to her at home office.

"I was in a meeting with my boss and the other people in my rank Vee, I'm so fired-"

"Not if I send them autographs."

"VEE WE CANNOT BRIBE PEOPLE TO KEEP MY JOB WITH AUTOGRAPHS!!" Veronica loudly pointed out, making Vee just laugh a little.

"Worth a try?"

"Oh my god."

Veronica just moved her into her room and shut the door behind them, quickly putting her headset back on and unmuting herself before she grabbed the first aid kit and started tending to Vee's wounded arm. Vee was silent, just watching the screen, antennae raised, no more tears were shed. They could see her. She could see them.

"Wait, Veronica, that's Vee right?" One asked, making her nod.

"My daughter, yes, I can take off my headset and let you all greet her, but this is an important meeting, I don't-"

"Mrs Hurley, please let us meet Vee." Her boss suddenly said, making Veronica blink a few times.

"Alright... Vee you want to meet fans?"

"UHM YEAH???" Vee blurted out, vibrating excitedly. Veronica, still shocked by the turn of events, just unplugged her headset, turned on speaker then went back to bandaging up the wound.

"You're up, Vee. Make em smile, girl." Veronica said, just like she used to right before every show. Vee was grinning like a maniac, her coworkers silent, the room buzzing with excitement.

"Now who wants to play some trivia with the greatest game show host that's ever been built?" Vee asked with excitement, her mic tail now in hand. The whole meeting cheered, all agreeing to it.

It was technology themed trivia, of course.

By the time it was over, Veronica was fast asleep on Vee's lap, the host was grinning like an unhinged serial killer and striking a pose like a super star, and half of the meeting were eating dinner mid call. The meeting started after lunch, the gameshow went on as long as they let her keep it going. It was obvious they all had fun, some were even laughing still. Veronica's boss somehow was now covered in confetti and glitter. Nobody knows how, nobody asked why, they all accepted it. Vee especially did, she hadn't had that much fun in years.

"Thanks for joining me on the show!" Vee loudly proclaimed, spinning in Veronica's office chair once before striking another powerful pose.

"As promised, I'll get everyone's addresses from my mom and send autographs, no problem~ No fees~ It was so great finally hosting another show! Now does anyone have any other questions? Perhaps a request for next time~?" Vee purred, still vibrating from pure joy and excitement. Veronica's boss, who won, was now laughing.

"I'm so giving Veronica a raise if she puts you on more."

"I'm here all week baby! Just say my name!" Vee cheered, moving into a new pose so suddenly that Veronica sat up, suddenly awake.

"Guh... What happened..?" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes. Vee just laughed, her boss smiling like a moron.

"You're getting a raise, I haven't smiled this much in years! Can we hire your daughter to have video call gameshows every week?" He asked, making Veronica blink a few times, then look at Vee.

"If she wants to-"

"HELL YEAH I GET A JOB!!!"

"Just... Please stop swearing in front of my coworkers, it's really embarrassing, I promise I didn't teach her any of that on purpose." Veronica quickly reassured, and Vee nodded just once.

"They accidentally programmed swearing into my foreign language database so I translated those to english myself without anyone knowing just so I could call my old boss a jackass behind everyone's backs at Gardenview. It's not my mom, she's really good at keeping it in, but I'm not~"

"She really isn't, this is the real Vee, not that gameshow host personality Vee." Veronica agreed, snorting back a laugh when Vee playfully tussled her hair.

"I think I speak for everyone when I say we love this Vee, it would be a great honor to work alongside her." A coworker spoke up, the others all nodding in agreement. Vee just stretched, yawned like she wasn't just hyperactive a second ago, then smiled lazily.

"Once a week now, we'll be here again, next week is dinosaur trivia, study hard and be prepared. I don't go easy on adults." Vee stated with a wink and a winning smile, the crowd cheering for her afterwards. Veronica just sighed, smiling like an idiot herself, just happy she didn't get fired.

"We'll pick up where we left off the day after tomorrow, please come back with your documents and be prepared for some changes. And no Vee. We have to talk about what changes we should implement to increase customer satisfaction rates and productivity within the workforce to prevent layoffs, and see about maintaining proper communication between all branches of the company. Vee stop giving me bunny ears... Ahem, anyways-"

"I think we should have meet and greets with Vee as a reward for productivity, I really want to meet her in person." One of the coworkers stated, getting a nod from Vee.

"I'd do that."

"This meeting isn't going anywhere now... Is it..?" Veronica muttered, face in her hands. Vee still giving her bunny ears. The crew just laughed.

"Nope, sorry mom, I'm famous and I ruin everything." Vee teased, getting a laugh from Veronica as she nudged her playfully.

"You ruin nothing, shut up."

"Noooo I ruin everything for you, don't lie."

"Vee Fossilian stop that right now, you don't ruin a thing." Veronica teased, giving her robot daughter a tight hug. Vee just hugged right back, plopping her monitor right on her mom's head as she started purring like a boat engine.

"You used my wife's last name~"

"You hate your original one, so yeah, it was on purpose. I love you, Vee."

"I love you too, momma."

"VEE'S ALSO A LESBIAN???" A worker blurted out, making Vee look into the camera with a terrifying calmness.

"Yes."

"I knew it, I knew you and Shelly had something, I knew there was a look in her eyes! Congratulations on the wedding!!!" The coworker cheered, making Vee smile warmly.

"Thank you, I'm inviting everyone here to our second wedding, if my wife allows it. This has been great, thanks for having me on." Vee said softly, bluntly, honestly, not even hiding the fact that she was a bit emotional that it had to end as red tears filled the corners of her eyes and let go of her microphone fully.

"I'll see you all next week, same time?" Vee asked, and the whole group nodded in unison over video call, none knowing they could even do that.

"Well, then that's all folks, and remember to..." Vee moved her mic tail towards the the camera, grinning as the group all cheered in unison.

"VEE POSITIVE!!!"

"HELL YEAH!! And please give my mama a raise, she deserves it. Goodnight fellas!" Vee stated, and after a lot of goodbyes, Vee ended the call for Veronica. Then got so emotional she... Broke down crying, clinging to her handler like a lifeline. Veronica, fully understanding, just kept her close and gently shushed her.

"It's okay, it's okay, you'll see them again I promise. Wanna go convince Shanon to get pizza for dinner and watch Shelly's favorite show together?" Veronica softly asked, getting a nod and a sniff from Vee.

"That sounds amazing right now... Thanks mom..."

"You're welcome, Vee-Bee. You killed it today, you deserve it. And a raise." Veronica stated, patting Vee's back. Vee just laughed a wet little sad laugh.

"Mom... I just got hired..."

"I know, it's just nice hearing you laugh again. Come on sweet girl, let's go tell everyone how much fun you had with my boss and order some food." Veronica softly said as she gently climbed out of her lap, stretching and yawning soon afterwards. Vee copied her, mostly because she needed to stretch too, but also because it was funny copying her mom.

"Can Shelly come to dinosaur trivia day?"

"Dinosaur trivia will happen in the living room, just for her. I'm sure they'd be just as excited to see her... They all loved seeing the plushies of you two I keep on my shelf at least." Veronica admitted, getting another laugh out of Vee.

"Of course they would, we're still awesome like that!" Vee bragged, striking the old pose she always did at Gardenview. Veronica's face hurt from how much she smiled at that, adoring seeing that same Vee she used to work with years ago suddenly come back because of a stupid gameshow she accidentally made happen.

"Of course you are, you always will be awesome like that, no matter what."

They did have pizza that night.

The four of them ate ice cream and watched dinosaur documentaries that night as well, all ending up fast asleep all snuggled up together in their pillow fort.

And Vee, she stayed proud, she was the happiest she's been in a long while that night, and the moms couldn't have been more proud of her. It was a great day, even if they did have to spend an hour explaining to Shelly that Vee didn't vanish because she was mad at her, she just got very sidetracked hosting a gameshow again. She was proud of her too once they clarified that, very proud of her Bee. She wouldn't stop praising her after she found out about it, and now was sleeping against her, smiling, cozy as could be. Vee was sleeping with everyone snuggled up against her that night... They definitely were waking up sore the next morning, but that's a problem for the future lol

Zephyr down bad for Ifrit. What can I say. I love this pairing so much.

Zephyr is pretty sure Ifrit has no idea what he's doing to them.

Of course he doesn't.

It all started when Zephyr had meant to bend down from the chair they were sitting on to redo their shoelaces, only for their back to protest and force them to straighten up before they could. Without missing a beat, Ifrit then slid to his knees in front of Zephyr, propped their foot on his thigh, and dealt with the shoelaces.

Except the fire ghoul didn't pull away immediately after, no. He took the time to rest his cheek on Zephyr's knee, to look up at them softly with a smile so gentle it should have been entirely innocent but the sudden flames licking Zephyr's insides at the sight disagreed.

And now the air ghoul is cursed to notice everything Ifrit does that shouldn't be arousing, but is. Like immediately leaning into Zephyr's touch when they slip a finger under his chin to redirect his attention to whatever the air ghoul is telling him about.

Or constantly sitting lower than Zephyr, so Ifrit can rest just the way he did after doing their shoelaces - which seems to be his favorite way of spending time now, cheek smushed against the soft fabric of Zephyr's pants, absent-midedly drawing little hearts on them with the tip of his fingers.

Even when Zephyr thinks they're safe - nothing attractive about helping Ifrit shave the side of his hair he keeps shorter than the rest, right ? They somehow end up with Ifrit kneeling in front of them in the bathroom, his forehead now and then bumping against the air ghoul's tummy while they try to keep their hand steady ; Zephyr would hate to accidentally cut Ifrit's ear because they were too distracted by those eager orange eyes looking up at them with unashamed reverence. Zephyr damn near loses it when Ifrit starts kissing their belly as they inspect their work, hand reflexively tightening in the longer part of the fire ghoul's hair.

Instead of protesting, Ifrit simply let his head roll back, following the pull of Zephyr's clumsy, flustered hold. His eyes are half-lided now, though, mouth curved ever so slightly in the beginning of a smirk, and for the first time, it dawns on Zephyr that maybe Ifrit isn't as oblivious as they thought.

Something must have shown on their face, because Ifrit's almost-smile becomes a full one, and his hands find their way to Zephyr's waist, splaying there, pinky fingers slipping under the waistband of their pants.

"Come to bed ?" Ifrit mumbles against Zephyr's belly, eagernes betrayed by the sway of his tail.

A tempting offer, one that Zephyr feels powerless against.

The look in Ifrit's eyes is clear as day. Tonight, Zephyr is going to be worshiped.

Although that post is from a little while ago, so here are a few more:

Quirrel is probably the one person (or bug, whatever) that could tease/annoy Hornet and get away with it, though most of the time he doesn't anyway cause he knows she doesn't like it

This might contradict one in the previous post, but when it comes to physical affection (kissing, hand holding, that sort of thing) they're like tadakomi-- he's a little nervous and is trying to take it slow while she's just like "We should kiss. Now."

Quirrel writes poems about/for her

He's the only person Hornet will let herself fall asleep in front of because she feels safe with him

Hornet loves seeing him get excited over little nerdy things like old writings or whatever and listening to him rant about them (this one might just be self projection)

Their first meeting has become something of an inside joke between them (though Quirrel probably finds it funnier than Hornet does)

That's all I've got for now, most of these are actually just things that happened in my fanfic lmao but I guess that's how you make headcanons
