Vaguely related, but I don't like these types of questions. I feel like capitalism has put us into this false dilemma where we think that having financial means to live however we want would make our reactions to the world in general somehow muted, and that these types of questions are thought experiments that would make us reflect on our nature, when that is simply not the case.

We have billionaires, crazy amounts of millionaires and the number of ones that are willing to give up their financial means in order to feel something again could be contributed to a statistical error. Once you have "everything", you don't have enough. We cannot conceptualize everything even if we wanted to-there is always more to it, and as long as we think that there is, we will never be neutral towards life, like everything has been muted.

Money in a capitalistic society isn't something that opens the door to a life in abundance-if there's no food to buy, money is useless. So the question I'd propose would be if we were to live in abundance, would we feel like our lives have been muted? And the answer is no, for a plethora of reasons, the main one being that we cannot comprehend our lives as a whole, we'd forget that we drank water the moment we're thirsty, forget that we ate the moment we're hungry etc. There are plenty of examples that boil down to the fact that we cannot stray away from the fact that we love to live repetitively.

We love boredom, we love comfort, we love when nothing ever happens, and we like only the chaos that we have constructed for ourselves or the "chaos" that we can control.

Here's a scenario:

You are offered a deal whereupon you will be provided with an enormous sum of money, enough that you would be guaranteed to never struggle financially again for the rest of your life. Everything you need would be taken care of, with plenty left over for luxuries, travelling, recreation, charity, taking care of your friends and family, kids' college fund, whatever.

However, the trade-off for this is that your ability to feel happiness and positive emotions would become muted to the point where it never increases beyond "mild contentment". You can feel fine, you can like things in a vague casual sort of way, but you would never experience delight again. You'd never feel like you're going to burst with excitement or experience passion so intense your chest aches. You like but you don't love, at least not with any real intensity behind it.

I've spoken about how 7th house synastry isn't always rainbows and butterflies bc it rules over open enemies too. But something undeniably good about this synastry is that it makes you able to perfectly coexist and work with the other person even in those cases where you don't like each other. I've found that Taurus Moon men give off this vibe of being a secure provider but they're actually closeted mamas boys. They expect to be provided for by women both emotionally and financially.

The difference is that Aries Moon tends to get over it fast like sometimes it's even amusing to see them mad, they will put you in your place and move on. I've noticed they don't really hold grudges much cause they don't really take things too personally and when they do they attack ppl's actions no ppl themselves if that makes sense. Scorpio Moons in comparison are much more catastrophic when going about their emotions, they fr act like it's the end of the world and 9/10 times WILL make things personal. They act like it's fine once the heat dies down but they actually tend to secretly hold on to that anger and resentments for a long ass time if not forever

Aquarius Moon is the most independent moon sign, they tend to be precocious children who grow up really fast, maybe too fast. I've seen that they are forced into adult life VERY early on and they seem to stomach it like it's nothing. I've seen several ppl with this placement who were literally kicked out of their house by their family. It won't be that extreme in all cases, but there seems to be a theme with Aquarius Moons in general and being emotionally disconnected from any sense of dependability on others... for better and for worse

Yeah, the kinks themselves are all "okay". Any kink on its own is morally neutral. The problems that you're getting at are distinct from kink itself, and are failures of individuals who may hold the kinks, not the kink itself.

When people have a problem with a kink, what they usually actually have a problem with is one of two things:

Non-consent or harm occuring during a kinky act. Obvious bad implications, and I think everyone is on the same page here. The problem is sexual assault and consent, not kink. It's also not what you're talking about primarily, so I'm pretty sure we're on the same page here.

How an individual treats people outside of the kink environment, notably bigotry. Thought crimes do not exist. People's material treatment of others does.

For your examples: consensual sexualization of trans woman does not hurt trans women. Refusing to see a trans women as anything beyond a sex object does. Sexualizing a trans women in an environment where she does not consent to being sexualized does.

This is exactly why forcefemme can be enjoyed by many, even within the trans community. Sexualizing trans women isn't an inherent evil that taints your brain. And oftentimes, trans women are treated as disgusting, and can even be desexualized- at least, desexualized in the ways we want. Sometimes, feeling hot and feeling sexy is a reminder that we can be beautiful in a society that tells us we're disgusting.

Do these kinks sometimes lead to transmisogyny? Do they sometimes lead to trans women being seen only as sex objects? Yeah. But the "bad act" being committed here occurs at the moment a trans woman is being mistreated, not inside the a person's head.

well... let's just say.... the hsr characters feel neglected. it's so unlike you to not log in for so much time, they start to panic and worry. (some more than others.) wondering if something happened to you. of course, phainon is the first to freak out within 24 hours (average anxious attachment puppy) but... after a week or two, the rest of the characters can't help but wonder as well. what if phainon IS right and you got eaten by a shark while you were sailing across the seven seas in order come back to them? (well, only stelle agreed with him but alas. he's grateful for the support nonetheless.)

so eventually, the genius society members alongside silver wolf did a lilllll tinkering with your device to access your camera without you having to open the game. and thankfully, you weren't eaten by a shark and was just chilling in your bed. they all collectively sighed in relief. (someone was particularly loud)

if you were reading a book, they'd try and look it up by searching it in your browser while you aren't watching. i can see characters like castorice, firefly or sunday be interested in reading it as well! (and phainon obviously)

as for a showw well, that would be easier for the cast to watch alongside you! although the game isn't open, silver wolf can work her magic and access the tab you're watching and baam! free show for them all ‼️‼️ they have nothing better to do anyways so why not give it a try? maybe when you're back, they can subtly bring it up. (phainon has a whole journal dedicated to the show for you)

you can come back to them anytime! they're all happy you're safe and sound. just... don't keep them waiting. who knows what a certain someone will do?

On a less emotional note, I'm sorry if I already asked you about this and forgot, but I've been watching a few of SF Debris' vids about DS9 and Dukat, and apparently the character went through a very...odd shift. In that the villain gains enough layers and nuance to the point where people start seeing him as not a villain; only for the writers to overcorrect it and establish his villainy as undeniable, but tossing away all that nuance. I was wondering what your own view on it was? Are there other examples of this happening in media you enjoy?

See, I have no problem with the villain shift. I don't even think his ending arc is particularly bad like a lot of people do. No, my problem is two-fold with him: 1-There should not have been any connection between Dukat and Kira's mom. Just makes things squicky and weird given how he treats Kira over the series plus slightly contradicts some earlier minor continuity stuff. 2-Him becoming more overtly villainous is perfectly fine - just because Space Hitler has some nuance and respectable qualities doesn't mean he isn't still Space Hitler and it was important to remind people who were forgiving him that he was Space Hitler. Waltz is where the shift is supposed to happen. Dukat makes his big impassioned defense of his actions, that he wasn't so bad, that he was fair and just... while descending further into madness and reminding us "Oh, yeah, he thinks that murdering 200 suspected people - not convicted, just SUSPECTED terrorists - is justice and not really fucking evil." His delusions and self-aggrandizement gets stripped away, his excuses and justifications fall apart even in his own eyes until he realizes "Oh, I actually fucking hate the Bajorans and want to kill them all because they don't love me for being their superior!" And you see that conclusion evident as he screams at Sisko "I have unfinished business on Bajor! They thought I was their enemy?! They don't KNOW what it is to be my enemy, but they will! From this moment forward, Bajor is DEAD! All of Bajor! And this time, not even their Emissary can save them!" It's a good moment, it's the shift of his character to being dedicated to destroying Bajor... aaand then NOPE. At first you might think given his next appearance in the season finale with the Pah-Wraith statue "Oh, he's continuing his arc," except then he tells Damar and Weyoun "Actually, I blame Sisko for my daughter's death and not you, Damar, even though I called the Defiant to go pick him up instead of leaving him to die." And then he uses the Pah-Wraith to close the wormhole. But then suddenly "Actually now I want peace with the Bajorans and have started a Pah-Wraith cult!" Admittedly, maybe you could argue it's because these Bajorans are all worshipful of him like he wanted, but it feels pretty unambiguous to go "I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THEM ALL" to "Nah, it's cool - they like me so it's fine!" Sure, in the finale he's all "Mwahahaha, the Pah Wraiths will burn across the galaxy" but his anger was originally directed STRICTLY at the Bajorans and now his motives seem a little broader for no good reason but otherwise doesn't really care about his specific vendetta.

personally i think this is one of oddest things i have ever read. thank you, captain obvious! ignoring the fact they spelt out the ship name in the tag causing it to appear for us, lets get into what they're actually saying.

they think ciel cannot recover and they accuse sebaciel shippers of thinking that he can recover. as someone who has had multiple people tell me my opinion that ciel can't recover is wrong—non sebaciel shippers, mind you—this is hilarious actually. i don't know why op thinks sebaciel shippers water down the story, likely just projecting their own interpretation when they used to ship them onto everyone else. if anything, when you're not scared of mentioning the romantic subtext, you can get a deeper understanding of the characters. the green witch arc was just ptsd being induced, ciel was not healing, sebastian did not prevent him from healing at that point. you can debate that about other points in the series but what ciel was going through in that arc was not an example of sebastian preventing him from healing. if he didn't snap ciel out of it, wolfram was planning to kick them all out and kill him along with his servants. sebastian did not want that to happen so he was opting to eat ciel early. also for a demon to be only 90% serious (if he wasn't just joking) is a big deal, he literally confesses in the same arc a few chapters later that he likes the game he's playing as butler. he did not truly want it to end there.

also nobody thinks everything is going to end well. some of us might wish that but we know it's hopeless.

we all know sebastian cannot heal ciel's trauma, at best he can remove triggers (by killing people who want to further traumatise ciel or remind him of his trauma like kelvin) and at worst he is one of the scary adults ciel fears (like in the green witch arc). if these two characters do survive long enough to develop an explicit relationship, it will not be a pretty one.

sebastian and ciel have ultimately 'cursed' each other, which is how the sebastian himself describes their contract. their relationship is one that is mutually beneficial but also causes suffering for both parties. sebastian is forced to serve in exchange for his hunger being satiated at the end of the contract (which we know is important because william states he's starving) while ciel is given a rather vicious dog on a leash that can snap at any moment and he'll get his face eaten; unfortunately he gets his face eaten either way but he wants to reach his goal of revenge first.

so pros for sebastian:

• gets to eat soul at the end of contract

• contract can be ended if ciel gives up so he isn't just trapped in a long ass meaningless contract for the 60-70 or so years it takes for ciel to die

• even if it takes a long time to complete the revenge, a human lifetime is nothing for sebastian

cons for sebastian:

• he was summoned against his own will by the cultists

• he is stripped of all rights while he is contracted and has to obey ciel no matter what

• if ciel gives up, his soul won't be as tasty

• he is devoted to his butler role and won't be able to continue playing the game once this contract is over simultaneously he is treated differently by those with a different status to him

• this contract has caused him to make enemies with a retired grim reaper who has a weapon that can literally tear him into bits

now let's talk about cons for ciel:

• he cannot give up or he will be eaten

• he will be eaten either way because that's the nature of his contract with sebastian

• debatably he didn't have much of a choice when making the contract due to being in a cage and watching his brother die seconds prior

but the pros for ciel are pretty good:

• got back his land, title and status and while he is using his brother's name, he won't have to be his brother forever (he doesn't want to be him forever)

• will die either way but his soul will just disappear this way rather than being collected by reapers

• wants to die after attaining his revenge anyway and this way, he won't become a reaper if he commits and have to work for eternity, he made the choice to not die in that cage and instead agreed to the contract (so maybe he did have a choice)

• gets to reach his goal of revenge easier because he has a demon under his control

• literally has a slave who caters to his every whim

this is not that bad of a deal for either of them but debatably the biggest con for ciel being "he'll die once he's done what he wants to do" is a little silly. we all die. at least he gets someone to help him do what he wants before he dies and clearly he's using this well—he established funtom as soon as he came back as 'ciel'. that was his childhood wish. he got to make the people living in his earldom happy. that was thanks to a certain butler who has been coaxing him towards kindness and empathy all through the blue cult arc and currently opts to solve problems through providing compensation to those he's wronged rather than violence. he's not fixing ciel's trauma but he's not always outright a negative force.

that's what makes it interesting. will they cause each other to suffer by making it each other worse? or will they make each other better and suffer loss? ultimately we don't know... it's up to toboso to decide

Anon, it's your tone rather than your message that is disagreeable. Also the fact that the example of this which you started off with was not *actually* an example of it.

^ Unfortunately, because of the way in which you wrote it, and the length at which you have written (and yes, for an otnf submission, yours have been notably longer than average), this is the main takeaway rather than your actual point.

To be clear, anon, I am totally with you as to the observation you're making: it's a tendency that frustrates me, too. But I'm afraid that having a valid point isn't enough - it seems like you haven't really considered who your audience are here, or listened to their criticism with open ears to work out how to respond successfully. You've just been doubling and tripling down ever more defensively, which probably isn't gonna help you with getting people to understand you.

Yes, a watered down version of straight hate is common on tumblr, but their rants aren't about a watered down version. They're about "We were bad and that's why people hate us" instead of recognizing that people hated us first and will always hate us.

Some hetshipper on tumblr who is like "The __ shippers were mean to me, therefore..." is engaging in that xkcd comic about why girls are bad at math.

The only solution is for them to have a brain larger than a walnut, not for randos to take responsibility for assholes on the internet being assholes on the internet.

Maybe unsurprising for me, but to this day, King Candy is still my favorite twist villain.

My least favorite is still Hans from Frozen.

What's the difference between these two? Forshadowing.

Throughout all of Wreck-It Ralph, we get plenty of hints that King Candy is maybe a little bit shady. He has a weird grudge against Venelope, he has access to the game's code, he's really full of himself, and he described "just being herself" as something that would kill people even in his pretty convincing explanation for why Venelope can't race even though she really wants to. You can tell something isn't quite right, and yet there are still doubts.

Clearly the close-up shot of Venelope's code block hovering out by itself is important, but maybe it was there from the start and King Candy just didn't notice?

We learn the story of Turbo organically because Captain Calhoun is from a new game and hadn't heard of him before. There's no way that's related, right? It is treated as a separate plot point from King Candy having access to the code of Sugar Rush. Felix is just worried that's what's happening to Ralph, that's the only reason he brought it up.

It's really tragic that Venelope can't race. Surely that explanation from King Candy means he really does have her best interests in mind, but does that really settle it? Is he just wrong? Is he misguided or misinformed? Or is he in the right to be so worried?

Even after Sour Bill tells Ralph the truth, King Candy does still have some amount of plausible deniability, even if he now looks more suspicious and evil than ever before.

And then you get the final showdown where King Candy glitches fighting Venelope, and we see who he really is.

All the puzzle pieces connect all at once, and every cell in your body goes, "I KNEW IT!!! I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!"

That's what a plot twist is supposed to be!!! If you get your audience watching your plot twist and they say, "What the fuck was that." YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

I never understand why people feel such a need to be shocking, as if people correctly picking up on your forshadowing is a failure of writing. I've seen it all too often, where mystery stories for example will pull a conclusion out of their ass that the audience didn't know about because the writers care more about their protagonist looking smart than they do about the mystery having a satisfying conclusion, I mean that's exactly why Knives Out felt like such a breath of fresh air in the genre. You can make your detective look extremely intelligent while also giving your audience access to the same information they have. Not even all of it, just enough to follow the logic.

It was even a criticism of Steven Universe that its major plot twist about Rose Quartz was "too predictable" or even that the writers stole that conclusion from fan theories (even though there's concept art of that twist from before the fan theory even existed), as if the concept that the audience correctly picked up on the writers' carefully crafted forshadowing meant that the twist was invalid.

This attitude is killing writing, and I am not even joking.

Writers, please learn to trust your audience again. If they don't get it, then it's not for them anyway.

I’d love to know why Louis is ONCE AGAUN forced to stunt! WTF! Why?!!!

I understand your frustration but this is sadly the reality for a lot of closeted people in the industry. And if you look at what happens in the US and so many other countries at the moment, I think it's really clear why Louis and Harry decide to stay in the closet for now, and stunting to appear straight is part of that.

And as much as a lot of us hate it, it's a big part of the industry in general too. Not only for queer people, a lot of stars use this for several different reasons, mostly to promote a project of theirs, stay relevant and create stories that will keep their names in the press.

Apart from that I don't really see Louis or Harry being forced to do it anymore. If they are stunting now, it's definitely something they agreed on. And that doesn't mean that it's their fault, it means I think they have more ability to have a say in things since they started their solo careers.

As I've gotten deeper in conversion, I have increasingly imagined jewish life throughout time. And what I mean by that is...

So when I looked at the Western Wall before this (maybe a few years ago), I just saw a wall. It held no deeper meaning than that. I imagined nothing when I saw that.

But now when I look at the wall or even when I'm praying idly, I'm imagining myself in the temple when it stood there. It's bright outside - a summer day so bright, I think the temple will blind me. A soft wind surrounds me. I'm stood in the middle of a huge crowd of people, simply observing. Women pass by me in small crowds, laughing and talking. Some of these women are wrangling their small children who keep running away, laughing like it's a game. And men walk by smelling of spices. The air is light, the city around bustling with people living fulfilling, meaningful jewish life. The wall now symbolizes that jewish life, and even though it's not just about the temple when I imagine it, it means something to me.

I think that's the result of seeing myself in judaism, turning the "you" into a "we," and I feel about this what I must imagine a married couple feels.
