I AM NOW THE PROUD OWNER OF A 400-PAGE LONG BOOK OF ACADEMIC ANALYSIS ABOUT MDZS (both the novel and CQL, as well as the wider danmei sphere, internet authorship, fan reactions in both CN and non-CN spheres, and so many more interesting things – there are photos of the contents list below) >:DDDD

I only got it this afternoon so have only read the (quite long?) excerpt available online and pages I came across while flipping through, but everything I've read so far is really interesting and well-written. If you're interested, it's promoted on the blog of @pumpkinpaix, where there are also chapter spotlights with comments from authors of each paper/chapter about them and about MDZS in general (which is how I found out about it, one came up in tumblr's 'based on this tag you follow...' recommendation), as well as FAQs (including where to buy it, though I did link that at the start). Alternatively, all posts about it are in the tag #catching chen qing ling!
I really recommend it, especially if content about MDZS interests you! and I promise I haven't been told to advertise this it's just something so so cool... a collection of academic work about MY FAVOURITE BOOK... and I know people do follow me for meta/analysis so this might be the sort of thing people looking at this blog will be interested in..?
#AND the introduction is called “the single-log bridge” aka my FAVOURITE METAPHOR IN THE BOOK... what else could you want??#(apart from probably another collection with even more content but I don't want to demand anything people have lives and this is hard work)#anyway thank you tumblr post recommendations i would not have known about this otherwise#but aa there are GRAPHS AND TABLES AND EVERYTHING#*ABOUT MDZS*! ALL ACTUAL ACADEMIC WORK *ABOUT MDZS* this is so cool...#mo dao zu shi#cql#chen qing ling#first time using that tag...#(...if something similar ever comes up i would love to contribute but unfortunately I'm studying music not literature (and western-#music as well... I'm so exited to read the chapter about the music of the show and the allegations of chinoiserie though!!)#and EVEN THEN I don't even HAVE a degree yet so i'm pretty sure i can only stick to writing metas on Tumblr and ao3...)

need to beat procrastination? start with the smallest task
unconventional study tips, part 5 - full series here!
the hardest part is getting started. once you do that, the rest will flow easily after you've dipped your toes in the water.
here's how: complete the assignment that will take the least amount of time. homework, maybe, or a 10 minute project work session.
as an added bonus, check your task list and make sure it's ordered by priority; take factors such as how much time the subject will take, due date, and weighting into consideration as you rank each assignment by priority.
procrastination is something students struggle with no matter how talented or smart they are- learning to manage it and not let it get the best of you is the most crucial step to managing time successfully.

@whcwashe mentioned a couple days ago how overlooked john's artistic ability is, including the way he's able to paint sigils with such mathematical perfection (i.e. in the nbc pilot), and i just think with how bookish he is + how adept in mathematics they show him being as a kid in dead boy's heart, it would make perfect sense for him to have researched and borrowed a lot of geometric artistic techniques from leonardo da vinci to use in the more physical aspects of magic and ritual.
#( ooc. ) OUT OF CIGS.#especially after he made such a massive mistake at newcastle it makes sense for him to go to the work of a perfectionist polymath-#-for techniques to hone every skill + element that he would have to contribute to magic-making down to consistency#nyway is it time for one of my bold-text bullhorn reminders that john was not born into magic he studied the everloving fuck out of it?#although he doesn't Create his own form of magic per se. he does study + dissect all the fine details of other people's techniques#and he's very creative and crafty too! huge imagination and excellent fine motor skills!#john constantine 🤝 james t. kirk: huge nerds whose success is frequently misattributed in media to balls instead of brains#(less so now that he's older bc The Trauma. and The Injuries. but i digress)#( headcanons. ) I'M JUST LIKE THE BASTARDS I'VE HATED ALL ME LIFE.#me kicking my books on the da vinci codices under a table: i swear it makes sense. this isn't just an excuse to talk about da vinci.#or the way he used a nail + string to establish perspective in the last supper mural in milan. v similar to some rituals in hellblazer#but while i'm HERE................

Personally I think the funniest (ie also the saddest thing) is that in the newest interlude archon quest recollection review talked about shadows admist snowstorms you know the limited time event and event story quest that happened in version 2.3, in November 2021
#genshin impact spoilers#theo's thoughts#The second funniest (ie second saddest thing) remains to be albedo's signature weapon being the cinnabar spindle#You know the event weapon from the version 2.3 limited time event‚ shadows admist snowstorms‚ the one that happened in late November of 2021#For a game who's most recent archon quest and region specifically catered to new players it's funny they immediately pulled this right after#Also I feel like it would have been worth it to review the chalk prince and the dragon? (version 1.2 limited time event from DECEMBER 2020)#Simply bc that whole quest is about Durin's remains and heart giving special power to the monsters on dragonspine#And that albedo is studying it to try and find a way to stop Durin's revival that would destroy mondstadt?#But maybe they decided that would be too far back as if covering an event from four years ago wasn't enough of a fomo bomb#Fomo means fear of missing out btw which is my understanding as to how genshin has always based it's event stories and content but I digress#Also now that I think about it shouldn't they have tied the dodoco communication device back to either of the first two summer events?#Both of the golden apple archipelago events from Version 1.6 (June 2021) and/or version 2.8 (July 2022) idr which one the device is from#Could've been both honestly and hey wait shouldn't they have covered the location they put the new weekly boss?#The hexenzirkel table in mondstadt you discovered in the version 3.5 (march 2023) limited time event story quest?#You know the one that tied the hexenzirkel to both mondstadt and venti beyond just Alice‚ Rhinedottir‚ and Barbeloth?#Or even the version 3.8 (July 2023) limited time event and story quest where Alice sends klee to visit a friend as per invitation#Tho maybe not that one I think I'm just thinking of it bc it had Alice in it as well

Make an online copy of your timetable.
Eventually, you're going to lose your timetable, or you'll leave it in your locker or at home and you'll need to find out where to go and what books to bring.
Option one - take a photo of your physical timetable and save it to its own folder or turn it into a widget. Don't just let it sit in your camera roll because then you will spend ages scrolling through looking for it and you will inevitably get distracted looking at pictures of your dog or a reminder picture from 2016
Option 2 create the format for your timetable and fill in your subjects + their rooms when you get them. You can edit this each time that your timetable changes. It's really simple to make on Word and takes less than 5 minutes. I like to colour code each block so that I know where to go because the layout of my school is sorted into coloured areas (eg. History - Red area 7 is highlighted in red) but if you school's layout is different, you could colour code based on class
Sample timetable layout
