TF2 Mugs

Engineer, apparently, doesn't use things (in this case, mugs) that he didn't make himself. We asked him why, expecting him to not trust the quality of mass market or something but it turned out to be much funnier: when something is not at hand he makes it himself, and then he loses this self-made one too, and the cycle repeats itself. There are several of these mugs lost on the base apparently...

Demo's mug Is a party mug! You can never know what's inside!.. Yeah no, of course you can. He got this one from that time he hanged out with hippies. It was all fun and chill and groovy until Demo mentioned where he works. Got kicked out immediately. Hurt, he took this mug with him as a revenge move.

Despite being otherwise tidy with everything, Medic never washes his mug. He says that the periods when there's no coffee inside are too short to pay attention to them. He also said that we should stop sticking our noses in his "abfalleimer". (Hold on, isn't it a beer mug..?)

And the Spy's cup is the most interesting... He never uses it outside of his room, no one saw him drink out of anything but glass. But this one is a starry tea cup. Why are there stars? Does it mean anything? Maybe there's a metaphor that he's far away but the bright star will always show him the way home... Someone is always waiting him behind the seven seas, someone who would pour him some tea in this cup... We will never know because when he found us breaking into his room, he kicked us out at the gunpoint.

(I want people to talk more about what the mercs' life on their base is like, more detailed headcanons about them being neighbours and stuff like that...)

Eri is fast asleep, wrapped like a cinnamon roll in her favorite bunny blanket. You tiptoe out of her room, careful not to let the door creak. The clock says 10:23 PM. Aizawa won’t be home until closer to midnight.

You should leave.

But you don’t.

Instead, you curl up on his couch, mug in hand, sipping the exact chamomile tea you offhandedly told him once was your favorite. The lights are dim. You glance over at the stack of school papers he’s left on the table, half-graded, red pen lying next to them like it gave up.

You smile. He always works too hard.

The front door opens quietly.

He steps in, hair slightly damp from the rain, scarf draped around his neck, all sleepy eyes and exhaustion. He blinks at you, then rubs the back of his neck.

“You stayed.”

You nod. “Didn’t feel like walking in the rain.”

He shrugs off his coat and sits beside you with a soft grunt. “You could’ve just gone home. I trust you with Eri.”

“I know.” You sip your tea again. “Maybe I didn’t want to.”

A silence stretches out between you, but it’s not awkward. It’s comfortable. like the first five minutes of sleep where you’re aware of the warmth but not ready to drift yet.

Then, his voice low and tired, almost gentle: “You’re here a lot.”

You laugh softly. “That’s because you keep calling me.”

“I call because she likes you. But… I’m starting to think I do too.”

Your heart does a weird skip. “You think?”

He leans in, barely an inch closer, his knee brushing yours. “I know,” he corrects.

You bite your lip. “You sure that’s not the sleep deprivation talking?”

He reaches out slowly, asking permission, and tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear. His fingers linger against your cheek.

“No. That’s me talking. Tired or not, I’m not confused about this.”

You lean into his touch. “Then kiss me.”

He does.

It’s slow. Careful. His hand curls around the back of your neck like you’re something fragile, but wanted, like he’s thought about this longer than he’ll admit.

When he pulls away, his forehead rests against yours.

so to start with I'll again go with my favorite little guy, while my headcanon of him as a second generation chilean immigrant is mostly because I myself am one too , it also has with how I think it would fit him when it comes to his whole "talking crow-like thing !" line, which clearly implies he's well aware that he's a bird, just doesn't know what kind he exactly is but still tries to surround himself with objects that resemble him in some way.

Like how many second generation people try to surround themselves with things of their own background/cultures to feel more connected to them, while still not fully understanding or knowing them because they weren't born in the country of said culture. While this is mostly based on my own experiences I just feel like it would make sense with how he is an orphan, having nobody to teach him about his own background or just the simple fact he's a duck. So he has to try filling the gaps himself.

Now, why chilean specifically ? well while it's again just me wanting some chilean representation in media in general. I thought about it more and more it just made sense to me. For example chilean culture has important cores like family, hospitality, pride, solidarity, modesty and helpfulness, things duck has been shown to care much about. (0k maybe not the modesty part but u know where im going with this) and just in general has mannerism many chileans have. simple stuffs like that

and also I one time edited this picture of duck with a hat i own and when I was done and looked at it, something clicked in my brain and now remembering duck isn't actually confirmed chilean surprises me each time.

Then again becky and joe said they were open to making a latinamerican character and I mean, duck is right here sooooooo... /j

plus i just think he should get to speak chilean spanish, hearing him speak spanish with a chilean accent would be VERY funny (and wear a huaso costume, it would be healthy for him. i think)

Now, onto the other two:

For red I just thought about a random south american country and then remembered how ecuadorian clothing looks and quechua clothing and how it's mostly woven I made the connection with red guy being made of string. The colors just reminded me of him also, mostly because majority of the colors are red lols

and also when i saw his family for the first time when watching the family episode I just immediately got reminded of how awkward taking pictures with my south american relatives was while visiting them so that convinced me red guy is latino too, one way or another ☝

For yellow I was just inspired by other peoples headcanons like him being filipino and ukrainian and I thought "what the hell let's just make all three of them latinos" and I hit him with the latino headcanon laser beam ray too

I also really liked the ukrainian headcanon because

Also the scene of them at the twins house gave me major flashbacks to the times I went to non latinamerican households growing up.

Which was being confused by the not so familiar food, house decorations and even the way people behaved and spoke. Culture shock pretty much.

And I just love projecting onto characters I'm attached to like hitting them with the latino laser beam ray , ESPECIALLY DUCK. I totally don't stay up at night thinking about how awesome it would be if he was chileno

godddd johnny in school is that kid who sleeps through every class because he doesnt get good sleep the night before. whether its because of the screaming and general danger in his house or hes out in the lot or trying to convince himself he's safe on one of the gang's couches. the teachers gave up on him a while ago, he learns everything too slowly for them to care about helping him out by now. so he might as well take advantage of a 'safe' place to sleep.

if he were in a modern school system his teachers wouldve been taught to watch out for kids like him; to think about why they might be so tired and to try and make sure their home life is okay. and theyd find out it really wasnt, and maybe hed get helped out. maybe hed get resources to learn better and hed actually get more out of school than a nap.

but hes not in a modern day system with teachers trained to look out for kids like him. so he'll learn which teachers wont bother waking him up with a smack on his desk, and he'll sleep through school because god is he tired
