So since we're getting much more Archivist lore, I thought I'd share my little theory on their identity (spoilers obvs up until magp 34):

It's pretty much been confirmed at this point that the archivist is not Jon, so it's likely another archivist from the Magnus Institute. Gertrude, however, is kind of minding her business with Gerry (bless them) so we're left with very few choices. Additionally, tape recorders are a web-based manifestation, so this Archivist likely has a connection to the web as well (yes Gertrude also used tape recorders but she didn't get any specific power from them).

So which character do we know who

- Was connected to the institute

- Is a woman

- Is the right age

- Has a connection to the web

Now hear me out:

Emma Harvey.

She was likely the next in line of archivists at the institute after Gertrude since she was her main assistent, so it's very likely she would succeed Gertrude after her departure. She was confirmed in mag 167 to be insatiably curious and very predatory, hence why she would attack Sam, Gwen, and many others. She's heavily connected to the web, and would indeed be quite old in 2024 (Ink5oul calling them a "manky old git")

Of course it's also very possible that I'm just reading too much into this and it's actually a completely new character but knowing how Jonny Sims writes I don't think that's very likely.

yes i know she was only mentioned in like one episode (mag 167) but like it makes so much sense. since it's not gertrude it would logically be her assistant archivist

what if tmgp takes place in-canon but not following the same story of the archivist. what if its not post-canon at all

if it is post-canon, i see it as a part of the post-change world and moving on & recovering from the eyepocalypse. (maybe even existing as a way to drag the entities back, but that seems less likely)
