Welcome back everyone!

Splinter Appreciation Week is a fan event to celebrate ALL versions of the TMNT franchise and the most beloved rat dad, Splinter. The 2025 event will take place from June 9th to 15th, the week leading up to Father’s Day.

This year's prompts are

The "break day" is an experiment this year. The man behind the curtain of this account (@halogalopaghost) is an individual with multiple chronic illnesses that make events of endurance like these difficult to participate in. I want others to have the opportunity to take a rest, enjoy everyone else's work, and maybe breathe new life into something that was made last year, etc.

Shout out to all the TMNT fans still rambling on and on about those turtles, some shows may have ended like almost 30yrs ago while others 4 or so, some pieces of media may only be one movie long while others an entire comic series, but you still keep going.

So I'm watching through all the tmnt media I can get my hands on, the current list being:

That's 10 movies and 6 series, with a combination of 29 seasons with varying episode counts. It took me 2 months to finish the 87 series which had 198 episodes spanning the course of 10 seasons. This is going to take me a while. I'm only a couple episodes into the live action series.

Wish me luck, my brain is only turtles and I am now a ninja with all my splinter wisdom.

I'd just realized that the Tmnt boys from the 2007 movie are possibly older teenagers/young adults.

Like Donnie and Mikey have jobs. Leo was sent to another country by himself. Raph is basically allowed to leave the lair whenever. All these things are privileges that older teenagers or young adults have. Like these boys might be 17-20 ages.

This is just leaving me baffled fam you don't understand.

Someone follows Mikey home

Donnie’s hands are injured: his brothers have to help out while he heals

A sewer tunnel caves in, and Leo is trapped

There is a leak somewhere in the sewers above the Lair and the water is getting in. No one from the city has come to fix it on their own, so Donnie has to do it.

Turtles go undercover on a passenger train to find a person of interest (killer, thief, mutant,time traveller, etc. could be a long ride or a short one)

An item that used to belong to Hamato Yoshi appears and the turtles must mount a mission to retrieve it for Splinter (whether he was Hamato Yoshi or not)

Future AU where one of the last surviving core turtles finds a photograph of their family that they haven’t seen in years

200 years in the future, a group of scientists discover the location of the turtles’ lair, looking for information that might help them in their current plight (The Batman (2004) cartoon season 4 episode 7 is the inspiration for this)

After an altercation with their enemies goes wrong, the turtles find themselves stranded at sea in a small sailboat. What could possibly go wrong?

Beach episode! Let the kids have fun!

The turtles parkour through the city, having the time of their lives. Until one turtle almost becomes street pizza and they have to calm them and each other down

Time travel! Donatello has just invented a time machine! Unluckily for the others, it works! However, the timing could not be worse as New York is attacked by something and they desperately need Donatello back.

Mikey follows a stray cat through NYC. He has the weird feeling it’s trying to show him something . . .

Give one of the turtles fantasy magic. They’re having a blast with it, but is this a gift or a curse?

One of the turtles opens up about being afraid every time they go out to fight off villains. The others reassure them that this is what bravery is

Raph is bored. Unfortunately (?) for Mikey, Raph has a solution to that

One of the turtles gets a cursed (or blessed) item thrust upon them from the owner of an antique store

One of the turtles takes respite beneath a structure in the middle of some poor weather (rain or snow). While there, they spot a creature that should not exist (be it extinct, mythical, or other). Curiosity gets the better of them and they decide to follow it.

There’s a large mutant creature running around in NYC, wreaking havoc. The turtles have decided to step up to the plate and handle it, but they discover that not everything is as it seems

During an altercation, a turtle gets knocked into a pile of garbage. They see a bright flash of light, and emerge to find that the other turtles and their adversary are all gone. Where did everyone go? And how do they get them back? Can they get them back?

Someone gets hit with a truth spell or serum and cannot stop being brutally honest. This causes problems when they need to save face, keep out of trouble with splinter, or keep important info from an enemy.

Something is in the Lair and the turtles need to find it before it finds them.

Donnie receives a strange signal and he’s not sure what it is.

Local mob boss receives an ominous letter at the claws of an unusual messenger bird. Somehow this becomes the turtles’ problem and they’re not happy about it.

Bonus!

One of the turtles gets lost in the sewer and the remaining people have to go get them out

Someone has a really bad day (ex: injury, lost item/pet, attacked, lost, etc). The rest of the family try to make it better.

One of the turtles gets a tattoo or piercing?

POV you’re the turtle’s vehicle.

Someone turns invisible for a full day.

Farmhouse trip!

Raph has a secret collection that he’s afraid of his brothers discovering. Unfortunately, Mikey does not like leaving his brothers’ secrets as secrets.

I present to thee, a bunch of 07 Leo headcanons no one asked for because he is my SON and I will defend him beyond my dying day I will rise from the dead to prevent his slander.

He got a splinter in the jungle and it went so far in that it's still there and he really can't get that fucker out so some days he just sits on the couch with a pair of tweezers digging into the sole of his foot and when someone tries to talk to him he holds up a finger because not now, please, he's engaging in his long-standing vendetta against the scourge of his existence.

One time he was climbing up a tree in the jungle and didn't realize the tree was already claimed by a colony of bullet ants. It was among the worst pain he's felt and he talks about it like he survived a nuclear explosion.

He's incredibly lonely from his time in the jungle. He didn't realize just how hard being away from his family for so long would be. He can't talk to the locals either, not in any meaningful way, so instead he talked out loud to his family every night. Did he McLose it a little bit? Yeah, maybe. He's had very elaborate and in-depth conversations with his brothers in the jungle. They don't know it, but the conversations were had. Sometimes Leo wakes up mad remembering a conversation that didn't happen and Mikey has to be like, uh, hello, I never said that? And then the realization dawns on Leo and, tizzied, he says okay, well, whatever, it's something you would have said. Then Mikey looks into the camera.

Thinks he's a very classy and elegant motherfucker with high-brow opinions but actually has the interior decorating taste of a old cottage witch. Pretends to know a lot about wine but really doesn't know anything except that swirling the glass is supposed to do something? maybe? he doesn't know! but he's going to do it with one leg crossed and his nose in the air thank you.

Talks in his sleep and will admit to all sorts of things. His family takes advantage of this often.

Has really strong opinions on apples. Does not like a red delicious, do not BRING a red delicious up in his home. He does like a honey crisp. You may bring him a honey crisp he will accept this donation.

Has a really embarrassing goofy laugh. Snorts, hiccups, sounds like a braying donkey, it's awful, its why he suppresses it with hulkian strength. Do not make him LAUGH it's undignified.

Gets deeply invested in reality television. Love is Blind, Bachelor, Selling Sunset, anything and everything goes. Will throw hands over his favorites.

Has the music tastes of a 12 year old from 2007 and you can tear Fergalicious from his cold dead hands. Only don't TELL ANYONE he likes it, god Raph, that's private personal information no one needs to know that.

Is OVERDONE in the pressure cooker, Splinter left that boy in there for TOO long he is OVER STEAMED. He gets very easily frustrated with his brothers on missions because he's worried about them but, a little more selfishly, worried about how it will reflect on him because he is well aware that their father sees a team failure, or even an individual brother's failure, as Leo's. He just doesn't want the disappointed dad lecture again! He doesn't want it! He's trying his best out here!

Sometimes doesn't know how to start conversations with his brothers so he'll just sit there and stare at them while he tries to figure out how, but he forgets that he has the face of a striking serpent it's a MEAN lil mug, so to the rest of the family it looks like he's glaring someone into an early grave.

Sings in the shower. It's very off-key.

In the same vein as Rise Leo, 07 Leo comes across as very very arrogant at times, but in reality he has a very real fear that he's not needed at all, or worse, not WANTED at all, and that makes him lean into his attitude more, again in self-preservation. Do you see the theme.

Genuinely does think he's the best fighter in a spar sense because of the time he's put in, but also think he's the weakest in an actual battle. He doesn't have Donnie's genius or Mikey's creativity or Raph's passion and he's very aware of it.

Generally is more self-aware than people give him credit for. He can feel himself being an asshole. He sees it, dammit, he knows, but what is he supposed to do about it now! The train has left the station he has ALREADY given Mikey grief about the holes in his socks he can't walk it back now.

On the sock note, hates wet socks. Hates wet floors. Will throw a fit if someone leaves the bathroom floor wet after a shower. The disrespect!

Really bad with technology. Basically a grandma. Can play video games pretty well but ask him to do anything more than that and he doesn't know what he's doing he just knows how to make mario jump from that platform to the next. He can't be in charge of the tech missions he can barely restart his own computer.

Reads a lot of steamy romance novels but actually reads them for the romance. Judges them otherwise. That position was unrealistic but it was incredibly heroic of Fabio to save Diana like that. Secretly very into the idea of romance he likes the thought of being a dashing hero or of sweeping someone off their feet with a grand gesture.

Doesn't like horror movies at all, almost can't watch them. Claims its because he doesn't see the point but he actually does get scared. Raph knows this and will go out of his way to jumpscare his brother after a horror movie night. Out of his WAY. Elaborate pranks.

Drinks pepto straight from the bottle. Has bad heartburn. It's stress but he claims it's from the pizza sauce. In reality, it's probably both.

Will spend a ridiculous amount of time gossiping with Donnie, his venting twin, and does not like to be DISTURBED during this sacred and time-tested process. If Donnie and Leo are drinking tea at the table, let them be, they're In Session.

Really good at jump rope. Really proud of his jump rope skill. Likes to show off his jump rope skill. Would definitely have a jump rope tiktok.

Likes to sit in the middle of his brothers on the couch because he can feel close to them without having to ask like a LOSER (this does not make you a loser, but Leo thinks it does, because he is emotionally constipated).

Phone based customer service is fking hell

I don't have time to put together the entire (very late) speedpaint before work so here's another vent doodle instead. (i'll probably post it later tonight.)

Is this a little ooc? maybe. but people yelling at you over the phone hits different than people yelling irl. especially if they won't let you get a word in edgewise. and a newly tech support Donnie (either 07 iteration or Adopted Donnie Don) would find that out very quickly.

Advice from the past

Leonardo

The room is dark, black with only a small turtle visible at the front, until at the far end a spotlight comes on with a click. One by one spotlights turn on in a line until the one closest to the small turtle is on. They illuminate many figures, some small and some tall, some vibrant while some dull, some round while others flat, though all sport the same colour on their bandannas, blue. Once the last light is on they all look to the one out of the line, his head's down as he's hugging his knees.

After a few minutes of tense silence the first in the line breaks it with a dramatic sigh. He comes out of the line and sits down beside the smaller turtle, earning a few odd looks from the others in the line. "Come on dude, you're gonna do great." The smaller turtle looks at him for a second before looking away. "No I'm not." "Why?" The smaller turtle looks up, confused. "Why what? I can't do this. You guys went through so much for your team, I can't do what you guys did." The other turtle laughs. "If you think I knew what I was doing, you're wrong. I wasn't even the leader until everything was going to heck. And even then, I almost screwed everything up." He stands up as the others come out of the line. He continues as he helps the small turtle up. "No one's perfect, and being the leader can be the hardest. But you'll still do great." The rest of the turtles chime in with advice.

"It takes time..."

"and patience."

"Your gonna mess up..."

"and that's ok!"

"You have to guide them..."

"but don't be afraid to have fun with them!"

Huh, maybe being the newest, being the leader won't be so bad.
