request: Hi lovely person ! Could I request an angst to fluff piece with Joel miller? So I was thinking.. we always see Dbf! Joel smut, but I would really like something angsty with that trope. Maybe something along the lines of the reader and Joel being together in secret because you know being scared of judgment because of the age gap and stuff and not the father finding out. But then there's this woman, more to Joel's age coming into the picture, making reader insecure thinking she's not enough and too young and naive but in the end all turns out good? you were supposed to be past this by now. the self-doubt. the little pinpricks of anxiety you never used to feel before joel. the kind that bloom right in your chest; it hadn’t always been this bad. at the start, it had been electric—hiding, sneaking, the way his hands used to shake the first time he touched you like he couldn’t believe what he was doing. what you were letting him do.

but that was when it was new. now it’s just uncertain.

you came home early. you tell yourself you’re doing it to surprise him, but deep down, it’s selfish. you missed him, wanted to see him and hear that voice all rough and possessive. you were gonna kiss his neck and make him groan like he always does when you wrap your arms around his middle from behind.

but, once you get there, the front door’s already open. maybe he forgot to close it all the way? no way not joel.

within that small moment of you questioning why the door was open, you hear his sweet laugh and a woman’s voice.

you freeze in the entryway, sneakers still on, keys tight in your hand. you see them before they see you.

he was in the kitchen, leaning on the island like he lives here. it’s an image you always love—him comfortable in your house. like it’s his too. but next to him is her. she’s got one elbow on the counter, her whole body tilted toward him, her legs crossed while she’s laughing at something he just said, flipping her shiny brown hair off her shoulder with practiced ease.

your throat goes dry seeing him grin widely at her..he was yours for fucks sake.

your feet move before your brain decides where to go. you make a little too much noise, keys clattering on the hallway table, and the door clicks harder behind you than it should. you know you should smile. a joke, maybe? just say something.

joel turns around fast at the sound.

“hey, baby,” he says, but it’s careful, like he’s trying to read your mood before you’ve even said a word. he straightens up, steps away from the island.

the woman turns to you too. she’s prettier up close, older too. just right..like if he wasn’t with you, she’d be the natural fit. not your frayed little heart that’s too young to have any right wanting something this serious.

“hi,” you say, and it’s clipped and fake.

you try not to look at him. because you know if you do, it’ll all show. how suddenly, irrationally fucking insane your brain’s gotten.

joel must see it anyway, because his eyes narrow, not angry. just—watching, somewhat worried. the older woman pushes off the counter, smoothly. “i should head out,” she says, glancing at joel. “thanks for the help. you’re a lifesaver.”

joel nods, kind of tight-lipped now. “no problem. let me know if it doesn’t start again.” she smiles at you on the way past. you can’t bring yourself to return it. your face feels frozen in place.

joel waits until the door clicks behind her before he speaks.

“you good?” you’re still standing by the entryway, arms crossed like you were cold.

“who was that?” you ask, and it comes out cooler than you meant.

he runs a hand through his hair, sighs, steps toward you, rushing out the words. “her name’s elena. neighbor’s cousin. she’s in town for a bit; had some car trouble.”

you blink at his simple explanation. “oh.”

he studies you. “okay darlin', what’s goin’ on in that pretty head of yours?”

you almost laugh—but it’s bitter and sharp in your throat.

you walk past him toward the living room, not sure what you’re doing. you feel stupid, childish, pathetic. and still—you can’t stop. it’s gnawing at you. inside your chest, inside your bones.

you don’t sit down, just turn to face him.

“nothing. just…she’s pretty and normal. and probably not some big secret.”

he flinches. “what the hell does that mean?”

you wrap your arms tighter around yourself. “you know what it means. i’m the one you sneak around with. the one you don’t talk about. and then i walk in and you’re laughing with her like..like you’re not ashamed to be seen with her.”

his jaw works, tightens, then softens again.

“ashamed?” he echoes, incredulous. “is that what you think this is?”

you don’t answer. you just keep going because now that you’ve started it, it’s like you can’t stop. every thought you’ve shoved down in the last few months starts rising like bile in your throat.

“sometimes i just wonder how long this’ll last, you know? how long before you realize i’m too much or not enough. that this is all some dumb phase and you’re just waiting for a reason to bail. like maybe you wake up one day and look at me and wonder what the fuck you’re doing wasting time with some girl barely out of college who still calls her dad to ask how to fix her tires.”

joel walks to you, leans over you in an endearing manner. “hey..hey..look at me.”

you don’t want to. your eyes are wet and you feel like an idiot. but he cups your face in both hands, rough thumbs brushing your cheeks, and you have no choice.

he leans down, rests his forehead against yours.

“i love you,” he says. “i’m not goin’ anywhere. and don’t you ever—ever—talk about yourself like that again.”

your lip trembles as his grip tightens.

“you think i don’t wish i could take you everywhere? shout it from the rooftops that you’re mine? i do, baby. every fuckin’ day. i just…” he sighs, jaw clenching again. “i worry, alright? i know how people see me. old enough to know better. and you? you’re this bright, gotdamn beautiful thing, and i don’t wanna drag you down into all my mess.”

you shake your head, fast, angry now. “you don’t get to decide that for me, joel.”

he smiles fondly, even with the tension thick between you.

“i know. you keep remindin’ me. but this? this ain’t a fling. you’re not some secret i’m ashamed of. you’re the best thing in my life, i swear.”

you swallow. “then why does it feel like you’re always waiting for it to fall apart?”

he pulls you in—both arms around you, holding you so tight it aches. his lips press to your hair.

“’cause i don’t deserve you. but i’m selfish enough to keep you anyway.”

you squeeze your eyes shut, burying your face in his chest.

his voice rumbles in your ear. “you’re not too young. you’re not too much. you’re not anything but exactly what i want. every second. every day.”

you’re quiet a long time. his hand strokes your back comforting you.

“you smiled at her,” you whisper. “like it was easy to do.”

he leans back, just enough to look at you. “and you smile at bartenders when they spell your name right on your smoothies. doesn’t mean you wanna fuck ‘em.”

you snort against your will.

he grins. “see? there she is.”

you wrap your arms around his waist and hold on tight.

“i hate how much i love you,” you mumble into his shirt.

“nah,” he mutters, kissing your temple. “you love how much you love me.”

you roll your eyes, but you don’t let go. and never will.

Almighty Dragon!Creator who stays and watches over Teyvat, slowly their resentment lessens(even if they stay bitter because their children's powers were taken by outlanders) as they watch their teyvat, their teyvat, get more lush and green and just. Their teyvat becomes full of life and wonder.

Almighty Dragon!Creator who watches Khaenri'ah's fall in solemn silence, who looks at the children of stars in pity. Yet they are not their domain, so they cannot help(or can they).

Almighty Dragon!Creator who watches the traveler's journey, who finds intrigue in the silver companion who looks oh so similar to the Primordial One.

Almighty Dragon!Creator who watches the traveller go through nations, who watches them help Their Children. Who cannot help buy beam at this outlander who helps their children(even if one is still dead(orobashi), even if one will never get his power back(dvalin), even if one has shattered in two and has lost himself(azdaha), and even if one lost theirself to madness(apep), one gets his power back(Neuvillette) and they are so happy for him.)

All I'm saying is: Almighty Dragon!Creator who gets attached to both the Traveller, but also who gets attached to Paimon because of her relation to the Primordial God in some way or another.

Headcanons: Primordial Dragon Reader—All Shall Bow and Respect Thee As They...Uh...

Alright, pretending that Reader had ZERO RESTRICTIONS on what they can do NOW...Allow this idiotic Ghost Rebel to demonstrate their favoritism benevolence:

Dvalin Headcanons:

Reader absolutely adores Dvalin to bits. You Cannot tell me otherwise. They will literally give this dragon the world if they could.

Reader would definitely give them a human form if Dvalin ever wished to use it to mingle with the mortals in Mondstadt—In fact, Reader would be their tour guide (I have zero references of how Dvalin's mortal form would look like, but I imagine it'd look like a playable character skin—in other words, a very cool one)

I like to imagine that Dvalin loves music so much, he digs into Monstadt's traditional music and begs Reader to have Venti (or another bard) play the tune he finds.

Reader would definitely be the overprotective parent that absolutely hates it when others try to flirt with their children. Dvalin is clueless to these flirtatious attempts, so Reader is helicopter parenting so hard rn LOL

FLOWER CROWNS OMG. I imagine Dvalin would love those! Reader is going to indulge them with so many of them! Even better if Dvalin makes friends (obviously with the Traveler, Paimon, and Venti—those guys are naturally invited)

Reader would let Dvalin try any cuisine, but if it's anything related to alcohol, Reader is definitely going to make sure they are a) not spiked, and b) Dvalin takes a very little amount of it.

Reader's the kind of parent to see their child get a scratch on their skin and freak out and treat it like it's a very bad wound. I think you know where this is going.

Oh, and you know the Abyss Order that kind of manipulated Dvalin? No, you don't—because they no longer exist :)

Would definitely fly with Dvalin in their dragon form, or in their human-dragon form. Whichever Dvalin likes, Reader will follow suit!

Azhdaha Headcanons:

MY DRAGON BOYYYY LETS GOOOO *Aggressive Truck Noises Because Ghost Rebel Can't be Biased—*

Ahem, anyways. Considering that Azhdaha has a bit of something akin to dissociative identity disorder, Reader definitely treats the guy with extra care, opting to entertain both of Azhdaha's "personalities."

Yes, Reader fixes the erosion and memory problem. Yes, Reader gave them a new dragon body that is not purely made out of rock so that it doesn't erode too quickly. Yes, they also gave their child a human form (yk in Zhongli's story quest, Azhdaha took two appearances? Forget those two merging together—just take the color palette off of Azhdaha's dragon form and make something >:) I like to imagine a part of his hair or his eyes glows a certain color depending on the element he's wielding in his human form)

Reader shows them around all of Liyue, considering Azhdaha never really had the chance to see it properly. I like to think Azhdaha would listen to every single piece of information given to them like a sponge in water. Anything that's new or interesting to this guy, he is not backing down from it.

Now, I know the million dollar question: Does Azhdaha get scammed like Zhongli? No, because Reader is always there glaring at merchants that dare try to mess with their children in any way possible. They're also there, telling their child all about commerce and the ways of the trade—something that Azhdaha is into considering mining and ores are technically also in the business industry.

You know the guy that got blessed by Azhdaha, who can now see if rocks are valuable ores or not? Yes, believe it or not, but I believe Azhdaha would 100% check up on the mortal despite being completely tsundere and in denial about it.

HIKING! I think Azhdaha would like to have the mobility to hike—after all, in his dragon form, he's kind of the hefty and large side, so he can't exactly move fast or be nimble. I think he'd really like this change of pace!

Apep Headcanons

No huma form. She refuses to be compared to or even look like mortals. That is something Reader respects.

Technically Reader's eldest child so far. Reader kind of spoils them with loads of things only they can now make for Apep—maybe like flowers, or certain foods, etc. etc.

I like to imagine Apep secretly loves private affection. Reader giving Apep so many dragon hugs, or cuddles, or head pats. Reader spoiling them with literally anything they got lol—

Unfortunately, there's not much I can write for Apep :') There isn't enough lore for me to write on for them....

Neuvillette Headcanons

Reader 100% indulges him in his hobbies of tasting every bit of water.

Fusses over him because he's the Iudex and Reader practically almost curses out Focalors for giving their child such a demanding task, but also thanks her for showing him the ways of mortals yk. Love-Hate relationship.

Reader would bring him certain foods once they figured out what kind of mortal foods he likes.

Melusines? THEY BOTH LOVE THEM, THEY ARE NOW CREATOR'S GRANDCHILDREN (if I remember the lore correctly, I'm pretty sure they are considering they were born from a dragon??)

Reader looks out for Furina whenever they can because Neuvillette is truly Furina's #1 Fan bro—but only because Reader loves Neuvillette and doesn't want him to stress himself out.

THEY WILL KEEP THE SOUP LADLE (yk from that one Lantern Rite event? Neuvillette made a soup ladle in a theme of a dragon?) Anything Neuvillette will make, Reader is KEEPING IT in their DRAGON HOARD.

wait ok im still thinking abt wilde west au. How do all the characters fit into the town??

tysm for asking bc i have THOUGHTS. this will be a hopefully brief crash course, some of them are more fleshed out than others but...

Robby: traveling doc who comes to help out a small town and gets more than he bargains for

Dana: owner and manager of the saloon, one of the pillars of the town. does most of the town's medical stuff by default, a lot of patching up day-to-day injuries and plenty of midwifery too. can treat a concussion with an ice pack and a shot of whiskey bc it's like 1938 who cares

Jack: the only doctor who lives in the town. came back shell shocked from ww1 with an amputation to deal with, too. keeps to himself, has a lot of bad habits thanks to Everything about having PTSD in the 1930s. Robby brings him out of his shell by being a stubborn asshole about it

Heather: town sherriff as she DESERVES. not super sure about Robby at first which leads to some very fun tension. immediately thinks he's hot which unfortunately for Robby makes her even more initially hostile

Frank: owns and operates the local general store. went to college, has a business degree, used to be insufferable about it but more chill now. he's a great husband and slightly overwhelmed dad

bonus - Abby: has to handle a lot of upkeep of the general store while also raising five children. will have a very important arc pretty early in the story because five kids is more than enough, thank you, and she and Dana show Robby that sometimes the less official, more under-the-radar medicine is what the patient needs

McKay: one of Myrna's working girls. first came to town when Harrison was a baby, running from the law after shit went down with her ex. hates men when she's off the clock. fast friends with Dana bc Dana is a girl's girl!!!!

Mohan: she's a farmhand but she bounces around between farms. she helps plan fields and markets and everything. when she first came to town people were skeptical but in the Dust Bowl economy someone as bright as her to help with the penny pinching is invaluable

Mel: works at Langdon's store in exchange for room and board. she and Becca live in a small attic apartment but they're close with Frank and Abby and are often invited down for meals. Abby appreciates having Mel for extra hands and Mel appreciates not being the only one there to watch after Becca

Santos: Trinity is the reason Dana and Myrna have beef. she came to Myrna's when she was WAY too young to be doing all that, and she already had plenty of trauma from the path that led her there. naturally Dana just fucking adopted her. Fourth Evans daughter. it takes Robby an insanely long time to learn Trinity is not, in fact, biologically related to Dana (she also works at the Saloon now, one of the few people Abbot tolerates)

Whitaker: his family owns a cattle ranch so that takes up a lot of his life. but he's kind and he's smart and he's gentle so he helps out Dana and Jack with some of the harder injuries-- he has a knack for setting bones or tying slings. when Robby comes to town he struggles between wanting to pursue medicine more or staying loyal to his family when they need him

Javadi: her father is the pastor, and her mother is very influential in town. she's fascinated by some of the crazier things going on but doesn't want to get into trouble. she gets super curious about the medicine and Robby and Abbot's whole Vibe when they show up. Eileen is exploding Robby in her mind bc of this

Perlah & Princess: work with Dana at the saloon. responsible for keeping the town gossip mill flowing-- a crucial job!!

Mateo: farmhand who's friends with everybody. I'll probably let him and Javadi get together bc I'm a sucker for sweet romance

The rush of people leaving the venue had died down as you waited for your taxi to come and pick you up.

The street was dark and quiet until one of the doors at the back of the venue opened and what looked like the crew began to exit, carrying equiptment.

The unmistakable, tall form of Noah Sebastian carrying a case of some sort in your eyeline brought you to the slightly shorter man he was talking to.

You knew him instantly.

Matt Dierkes.

You had always thought that he was cute, but never in a million years did you think that you would have the courage to speak to him.

But there you were, freezing your ass off waiting for your taxi when he happened to make eye contact with him.

"I like your shirt." You complimented the attractive man with a smile.

He scoffed. "Yeah, sure you do."

"No, really. The design is super cool." You went on. "I actually saw Whitechapel like a year ago. One of the best shows I've seen in forever."

"Oh yeah?" He replied, clearly surprised by the fact that you enjoyed that kind of music, but he still had a sceptical look on his face.

"Yeah. Are you a big fan of theirs?" You asked.

"I'd say so. You?" He replied.

"Kinda." You replied honestly. "I'm a newer fan I guess."

"Oh cool." He responded, seemingly relaxing into the conversation. "What else are you into then?"

"Honestly, a bit of everything. Big Bring Me The Horizon fan, I love Lorna Shore, Motionless In White too." You answered. "However I am a sucker for Sabrina Carpenter."

He laughed at that.

"Yeah Espresso goes hard in the pit." He joked, making you laugh. "I'm Matt by the way." He stuck his hand out for you to shake.

"Y/N." You replied with a smile as you shook his hand.

"I'm so sorry I have no idea why I made you shake my hand." He laughed, his cheeks turning red as he broke into a small smile, looking at his feet.

"You don't seem too used to flirting, Matt." You teased.

"Well, usually people don't show an interest in the stuff I like so... you're a welcome surprise." He smiled.

"Oh?" You asked.

"Well, I work for Bad Omens, so usually people only hit on me if they wanna get closer to the band." Matt sighed.

"That's shitty." You replied, making him laugh. "What they use you to get to Noah or Nicholas or something?"

He tensed slightly as you mentioned you knew the band. "Yeah."

"For what it's worth, I think you're a lot cuter than them." You smiled, making him look back up at you.

"Really?" He seemed genuinely shocked by that.

"Yeah." You smiled back at him.

"Can I uh... can I get your number?" He asked timidly, scratching the back of his neck.

"Yeah um... fuck my phone is dead." You muttered.

"So's mine. Shit." He sighed, clearly frustrated by technology failing you both.

Then, another voice entered the conversation.

"Do you know your number?" The new voice asked.

You looked up to see Noah Sebastian looking down at you, sharpie in hand. You nodded, unable to find the words as one of your favourite singers spoke to you.

He simply smiled and handed you the sharpie before pulling Matt's arm forwards.

Your hand seemed to move on autopilot as you shakily wrote your phone number on Matt's arm.

You smiled up at him and he smiled back before being dragged away back to the crew by Noah.

As your taxi arrived, you could hear the rest of the guys making fun of Matt for flirting with you.

It made you smile.

[BW] Yandere!Dinobot/Reader [hcs/thoughts]

tw/tags: heat cycle, yandere themes, mentions of stalking, jealousy, possessiveness, a tinyy bit suggestive. word count: ~700 a/n: born to obsess over underrated characters forced to yap about the popular one (but I'm joking, I love them all, I'm just sad that Beast Wars is not talked about as much as other shows).

some quick thoughts in between requests because if I don't express it now, i will forget about it.

okay hear me out on...yandere Dinobot. I know Beast Wars is not really popular in the fandom, but oh my god, this ugly handsome man

we all saw that maximals/predacons share those animalistic traits that are connected to their beast modes. Rattrap likes to chew on scrap, Cheetor acts like a cat and even meows, Tigatron considers white tigers as some kind of family; Tarantulas and Blackarachnia have that rivalry for obvious reasons (bad for him).

it would be funny if they also had some type of cybertronian heat cycles.

even though Dinobot is heavily influenced by Jurassic Park velociraptors, I still feel like he'd act like a big bird rather than a lizard. or something in between, of course.

Yandere!Dinobot is overprotective and snappy as hell, to the point he considers even other maximals as a potential danger to you. Unlike more rational bots, Dinobot has no shame at all. It would cost him an arm and a leg to admit it to you, but he's actually jealous. Of what? There's no need to find any reason to explain his behavior once the season starts.

Yandere!Dinobot is vocal; he will growl, hiss and snap his teeth at anyone who tries to approach his mate. All maximals know that it's not the time to come near the two of you, but the unrespectful predacons...I'm a sucker for duos, their possibilities, and to imagine the dynamic between Megatron/Dinobot, both trying to court the poor reader.

But once the two of you are alone, I can see him having those rare moments where Dinobot lets himself relax. Most of the time he's in a constant state of alert, the dangerous mix of his primal instincts and  that warrior code of his just tells him to take you somewhere far-far away, so no maximal or predacon will get you. So maybe he can rest just for a little with you next to him. Dinobot definitely makes soft purrs, even to his own surprise.

Yandere!Dinobot is a stalker. Maybe, when it's just the start of the relationship between the two of you, he will try to somehow justify it, at least. Like, “I am just testing your skills, a true warrior must be always alert. You don't know when the predacons attack you next” , but the more you grow closer to him, the more he lets himself be a tiny bit warmer to you “You should not wander off alone. Stick closer to me”.

Read it, and don't forget a little personal nickname he has for you, which he adds at the end of the sentence.

It will also be funny to imagine Dinobot being a little too invested in building a nest. It also gets more awkward if your beast mode is some far different species. Why would he need to collect your stuff from your room? And why is he so adamant about you always staying in his room? He is holding you so tightly that you practically have no chance but to stay. So clueless!

“Is that [...] from my quarters?”

“Just be quiet and start recharging, you irresistible fool!”

Dinobot himself is a little embarrassed too if you start asking too many questions. He doesn't like being all vulnerable, even though he trusts you very much to know that you will never make fun of him. His own mind is clouded with not so innocent thoughts, and it actually becomes a big problem when he tries to focus on his training or fighting.

I don't think Dinobot would try to attract you with those silly dances reptiles/birds do to impress their mates, but when he is in his beast mode, you can definitely notice his tail wagging just a little bit when you're around. Rattrap probably picks on it faster than you and teases Dinobot about it until the two start fighting again.

Good Evening amazing fandom :) This was very light Chenford wise. And I'm ok with that when the main SL is really solid like last week was. Now Nyla's stuff was good. That new serial killer made my skin crawl. Could go without FBI guys being involved but get why they are. Mainly a Bailey/Balian heavy ep. Which I knew we'd have at some point given the finale.

I mean that with zero offense to anyone who loves her character or this ship. You should have eps around your favs. It's an ensemble cast after all. How it should be. They are just not my cup of tea is all. So this impressions will be shorter than usual due to that. Looks like next week will more than make up for that. Let us dive into what we did get shall we?

7x05 Till Death

This was a really smart move on Lucy's part. Going to his high school counselor. No better place to get the truth on this kid than her. She’ll have good insight. Like Tim said last week, Lucy isn't satisfied with the answer she got. This is proof of that heh I love her for it. We all know our girl isn't one to quit. Tim's answer last week did little to assuage her worry. So here we are at Ridley's H.S.

This scene explains that outfit now too. I remember people thought her being a detective was the reason. When her tik-tok came out with it the buzz about that was unreal haha But sadly tis not the case. Not disappointed with her being a T.O. at all though. Just remember the excited theorizing about it. We had nothing to go off of. So we dined on the crumbs we got for months LOL

Lucy making Seth cough up all his BS is fantastic. That’s my girl. I absolutely loved that she didn’t let him get away with it, not even for a second. She not only forced him to admit he lied, but also made him reveal the real truth behind it. I wanted to sucker punch him as he spoke. So many lies. Holy shit. They just compound when you do that my man. His reasoning is crap like I expected it to be.

That he uses half truths to get out of trouble. That's not great reasoning to explain what you've done.... It's pretty awful reasoning tbh. Also the thing is he’s lied so much now I can’t even trust that's even true. Idk how Lucy can. It's written all over her face how over his bullshit she is. Said this before she's a ten but real bad at hiding her feelings.

She is wearing them all over her sleeve this entire scene. No way he didn't sense her annoyance. Or how very done she is with him and his excuses. I mean I don't blame her. How can she train this kid without ever trusting what comes out of his mouth? Literally could lie at any given moment. Really dug himself a hole. Lucy looks so frustrated and upset. I hate this. Doesn’t even know what she wants to do with him....

Oh my Timothy, that’s quite the description of what a relationship is my love. It's almost like he has first hand experience what a healthy relationship looks like... We all know that's what he had with Lucy till he destroyed it. *sigh* He’s just a grumpasaurus cause he’s post-Lucy. He lost his constant sunshine person that made him softer.

It was self inflicted as we all know. That doesn't meant it isn't still having lasting ramifications for him due to it. Also he had a bad experience with that whole thing. So the rant makes sense and is warranted. Luna even explains why Tim is that way. I do adore her. Always sunshine and light with her kindness towards Miles. Twas nice to see.

Lucy coming to find her person always makes me happy. Suspicions confirmed. So naturally she must go find hubby. I love his ‘Uh oh.’ When she closes the door. Lucy spewing all she has on Seth to him. Expecting him to to be just as outraged as she is. Disappointed when he isn’t more upset along with her. His logic is sound though. Even if they wanted to boot him it wouldn't be a easy sell with Grey.

A man who is SO stressed about the budget and their perception to the public atm. So I get what Tim is aiming at. Doesn't make it less crappy to deal with though. I have been there in my last job. Where morally I didn’t want to keep someone. But we were so understaffed they let them stay for just that reason. Even when I objected. I hated it sfm. Every fiber of my being loathed mentoring someone who didn't deserve to be there. So I empathize with Lucy so very much with this.

Tim ‘I bounce boots for breakfast.’ Bradford Lmao I’m dying. I mean no one calls out Tim like our girl. Hot damn. I do love her for it. But of course he’s turning this into a learning moment for her. Because it's Tim. Saying it’s on her to correct it. I mean he’s not wrong… But it’s agitating nonetheless. Since he hasn't lied officially it's a moral issue and not a legal one since its not work related.

Which beyond sucks. No two ways about it. Especially since Lucy has been a good teacher to him. He's taking advantage of that wholeheartedly. He wouldn't have made it past day one with Tim. But he sees Lucy's empathy and is exploiting it. *grumble* Her smile at the end with Tim isn't without a little flirty energy I will say. I will take my crumbs in a lighter episode for them.

Then immediately after Tim leaves the problem walks himself right in. I said this last ep, every time he opens his mouth I dislike him just a little bit more. He opens his mouth and I lose patience for him. I can't imagine being in Lucy's position with Seth. If the writers intention was to have me dislike this kid they're doing a masterful job. All I see is a little weasel not worthy of Lucy's time now.

I’m 100% with Lucy not trusting him. He’s gonna have to earn back her trust ten fold. If that's even possible. I would say he gets ten percent of it back and he has to earn the other ninety. That he's lucky he even gets ten. She crushes him when he uses the excuse it's stressful. Straight up OWNS his ass. We can see him panicking to get her back on his side. But that ship has sailed good sir. Not only has it but he is very aware of it.

Man when you have Lucy Chen giving up on you. It's bad my friend. Really all Lucy can do at this point is be a good leader to him. Only way to save herself when he flames out. It’s on Seth to ‘fly right’ as he put. Been there it sucks. Nothing worse than having your trust broken by someone you’re training. Because now everything is colored by that distrust. That empathy you once had has wained quite a bit if you have any left at all. Lucy did not get an easy first rookie. phew lord.

We come to the end of the episode and it's clear Lucy has sat on this the entire day. It is our girl after all. I do love that she keeps gravitating back to Tim. Makes my heart happy. Even though she is one to make the call she still needs him by her side. Friggin adore he doesn’t hesitate to go with her to Grey. I love it sfm. Goes from grumpy to supportive in a second when he realizes she needs him.

That she has a plan in action. That really she's come to him for support not advice this time. He doesn't blink before he's at her side. Not only that but not taking any shots at her decision. Wanting to give her all the confidence by backing it. (How very far we've come with that) Lucy is looking elated he’s coming with and supporting her.

I was thinking time to boot that little schmuck. I said couple eps ago I was kind of hoping he'd wash out. Then this happened. His "cancer" is back……He literally tipped his hand twice with her in this episode. Saying when he thinks he is in trouble he does half truths. That when he is panicked and stressed that's his go to. Then all of a sudden his cancer is back that same day. How very convenient of those lab results to show up right now.

Tim's face is everything LOL He is now over this dude himself. The look they share is top notch though. Silent communication at it's finest. How can she say no when he says his “cancer “ is back? And in front of Grey who has zero idea about her suspicions. This feels like a ploy to keep himself safe. He could feel Lucy turning on him.

Could sense the tide was turning against him in the worst way so he did this. I could be wrong but this feels pretty right. Lucy holds his fate in her hand. So what better way to stay afloat than to use cancer. She can't possibly fire him now can she? Ugh. This little shit being far more of a problem than ever expected. Holy cow. I honestly expected Miles to be more of the problem but here we are....Shall be interesting to see how the pans out.

Now let's talk about the most exciting thing that happened which was the promo after this ep LOL Other than the little Chenford we got this ep didn't do much for me. Other than anger me against Seth lol This was a just a fillery place holder to get to this one IMO. The description alone has me amped. "The Gala" It’s Valentine’s Day, and Lieutenant Grey gives Tim and Lucy an unromantic assignment, while John and Celina track down a missing girl. Later, the team sharpens up for a charity gala where multiple relationships come to a head." Hard to believe been a year since she got her necklace. I'm not crying you are.....

Now this promo had me wishing it was next week. The promo had me all jazzed this morning. Oh my lord. Genny is back! Also Tim looks soft as butter for her in that promo. Man is transparent af. Saying how good she looks in front of people? I did say continue being this way and he is following those instructions ha To say I am excited for next week is an understatement.

hello hello!! thank you so much!!

it's not improper at all! i get a good number of asks where people ask questions like that and i'm always happy to give my personal opinion on things like that. it's how creative communities grow after all! sharing tips and techniques!

anywho, here are some tips for you:

consume the source material. the more you can hear the show in your head, the more you can hear the way the characters speak and interact with one another, the more you can manipulate those voices into believable dialogue and actions. donnie sounds different from leo who sounds different from mikey, etc. that should be reflected in your writing!

write character blurbs. when i'm first learning how to write a character, i'll write a few little drabbles or the like to pin them down. it can be something like. "their crush walks in the room." then you write that. how would leo react? how would donnie react? raph? splinter? do that lots and lots and lots, and you start to build your confidence with scenarios and stuff.

read. this one is one i tend to do more when i'm first learning a character, since i often get too wrapped up in writing to read as much, but it's super useful in the beginning. read what other people are writing, but not as a reader--as a writer. deconstruct things. what do you like? why? what didn't you like? why? what would you have done differently? if given that same premise, how would you handle it? this can help you find the tropes you like (and thus can gravitate towards writing) and those you don't like (and thus the ones you don't want to lean into). for example, i don't like fics where there's a love triangle, so i very rarely write that. i'm a sucker for that "true love" kind of romance where "this is the only one i have eyes for," so that's what i write. not to say that those fics are bad, i just don't like them as much. find your tropes you like!

practice practice practice. this one is probably the most important. my number one advice to you is WRITE! open up a blank page and just go. don't worry about finding the perfect plot, the right words, if people are going to like it, if you're going to be popular, or how to get the right characterization. none of that!! just write. start. get the words out. use a random word generator to find your first word if you're stuck. use a prompt starter. whatever it takes! start writing and then don't stop until you finish it. then do that again, again, again, over and over and over. eventually you'll be much, much more comfortable with writing in general. get this down, and literally everything else will come with time.

I am so sorry, anon, for leaving your ask in my inbox for days and days, I am very forgetful, and every time I sit down to write my Paranoid HCs, I get distracted by 5 different things! Gr!

But! I'm finally replying now! First, thank you for your kind words, and thank you for liking my Paranoid! I don't draw him as much because he's kind of difficult for me to draw, but I do love his human design a lot <3

You know what, for the occasion, have a doodle of my human Paranoid with his slightly updated design! He's got glasses now (which he should've had this whole time), and his gloves are shorter :]

And second, just as a heads up, because human AU is so underdeveloped, everything is a subject to change! Also, if you would like to have more context on the human AU in general, it's in this post! Though, the main context you need is that all voices are humans, and they never directly experienced the events of the game (they exist as subconscious memories). Now, let's see what I have for Paranoid:

His name in the human AU is Pierre! Cold (Casper) and Hero (Hugo) also call him "Perry" as a nickname; he absolutely hates it coming from Cold (because Cold does it exclusively to annoy Paranoid), but find it kind of endearing from Hero (because shameless ParaHero).

As mentioned in the previous ask, Paranoid and Cold are adoptive siblings, with Cold as the (slightly) older sibling. Generally, their relationship is not bad, but they aren't super close either; Pierre finds his sibling too obnoxious and nonchalant, and Casper isn't helping as he's constantly looking for ways to be a nuisance and bother their brother, their deadpan expressions and general indifference to Pierre's anxious reactions only exaggerating the issue. It sounds like they hate each other, but they don't really. Stuff like that happens only when Cold is bored and wants to annoy their brother, outside of those moments, they both do still care about each other and help each other out, sometimes.

Also mentioned in the previous ask, Paranoid is a university student. Specifically, he is a last year, pre-med student, and so he is perpetually stressed, overworked, and anxious. Hunted (Harley) and Hero have to forcibly drag him out of his room to take breaks and eat.

Speaking of Hunted and Hero, he has the closest relationships with these two. Harley is his best friend since high school, and Hugo (eventually, long, long eventually) is his partner (and maybe, just maybe, a childhood best friend who he sort of lost touch with, before meeting again in university, ParaHero my beloved, and I'm a huge sucker for childhood friends to lovers stories-).

Since vessels are a part of the AU, he definitely has a beef with Nightmare, who probably was/is his high school/university bully. I can't say anything more specific though because vessel side of this AU exists even less than the voice side (damn you voice brainrot /lh /j). But since we're talking about Paranoid and Nightmare, I will mention that MoC does not apply to this HC. Clarity is likely going to be a special character in the AU, though I can't say anything specific since it's still very, very early ideas. But I have something just for her :]

This is something that requires more research on my part, but to go along with my bird Paranoid's static-y terrible vision, I imagine that Pierre also has a medical condition that makes his eyes appear cloudy and makes his vision very, well, cloudy and blurry. What kind of condition? Well, that's what I need to research-

Just like his bird counterpart again, Paranoid almost always wears gloves, although I'm changing it from long, elbow-length gloves to just regular wrist-length ones. They would probably be cotton gloves, and he wears them primarily because of his sensory issues. He feels very uncomfortable without them, though it's not as dire as it is with bird Paranoid (bird Paranoid will go into pure panic if he doesn't have his gloves on for 5 minutes).

On topic of clothes, he also has 0 fashion sense and wears clothes exclusively based on how comfortable they are. That's why his normal outfit is loose flowy shirt and shorts along with velcro shoes. My guy is all about comfort, and you will have to force him to dress up for an occasion /silly

Paranoid is probably one of the voices who subconsciously remembers the most about the Construct (along with Hero and maybe Contrarian), though in Paranoid's case, these subconscious memories take forms of repeating nightmares. He just has these vivid dreams, something about a Princess, something about locking her somewhere, something about endless terror and terror and terror and fear and fear and fea- Needless to say that Paranoid does not have a great sleep schedule, he likely already had insomnia, and the nightmares only exacerbate it. My poor boy is surviving off of caffeine (and Hero/Hunted duo also bugging him to sleep/rest anyway).

Kind of hard for me to tell which one between human Paranoid and bird Paranoid is coping and dealing better with their, well, paranoia and general anxiety. On one hand, Pierre didn't experience events of the game directly and wasn't subjected to Construct horrors. On the other, he is just a regular human, and his mind isn't as resilient to torments as bird Paranoid's. I think I want to say that, generally, Pierre is a less neurotic person by comparison, but he deals with crises and high stress situations far, far worse than his bird counterpart.

He uses his "Heart, lungs, liver, nerves," chant as a grounding/breathing technique. I actually do this IRL myself, so it's only fitting that human Paranoid would do so, too.

He has a very strong love/hate relationship with horror genre. I just can't decide if he loves horror movies and hates horror games, or if it's vice versa. For now, I wanna say it's the first one, I feel like Paranoid finds the certainty of horror movies weirdly comforting (like the fact that the events of the movie will always happen in the same order), as opposed to more "random"/unpredictable nature of horror games freaking him out.

Uh, there's probably more random HCs, but those are all I could think of right now. Yapper Everest strikes again, yippee! I genuinely didn't think I have that much on my human Paranoid, but here we are. Thanks for asking again!!! It was very fun to write about him <3

What immediately makes Wormfics good, and what immediately makes them bad?

Good:

Difficult to say because most things I could list depend on their execution. I can really only speak to my particular preferences. For instance I need Cauldron workplace banter like I need air. Any fic that is good about Cauldron characterisation is immediately good to me! This doesn't mean making the Cauldron members "good" to be clear (I think El-Ahrairah is a bad fic sorry El-fans). They should still be kinda evil. They just need to be like, Terminus. I'm also a sucker for good prose, but my idea of what constitutes good prose doesn't align with a lot of wormfic readers'.

Gun to my head though, I would say wormfics that are tightly plotted shorter stories (or character studies!) with a planned beginning, middle, and end.

Oh, and I really like to see expansions on Brockton Bay worldbuilding. What's their tourism industry like.

Bad:

Obsessive focus on the three bullies and getting elaborate revenge on them. Grow up, man. Even Taylor stopped giving a shit.

When the premise is "Taylor has an altpower" but the author clearly didn't come up with a plot to go along with it, so it's just a vehicle for Taylor thinking about her power and getting into a contrived series of fights just so she can show off her power. The fic peters out after the author exhausts their enthusiasm for exploring the power. Just play Weaverdice or something. A companion to this is fics where the author just sorta lines up all the Brockton Bay gangs like dominoes for Taylor to take down. Taylor gets super cool power, destroys all the gangs (and maybe Cauldron too for some reason).

This is personal preference, but I drop a fic the instant it goes into "uwu lesbian" mode. Girls are blushing stammering fidgety messes around other girls, teehee cuddlepiles, girls somft, girls smell nice <3. People think it's adorable, but as a WLW, I think it's infantilising bullshit. I think it flattens out characters.

Sexualisation of minors. Like Taylor's trigger giving her bigger boobs. Ew.

The Nazi Stuff

Wormficdom has a significant Nazi sympathiser problem. Yesterday I opened this fic and was greeted by ten slurs in the opening paragraphs.

"Taylor joins the E88, learns they're not as bad as the ASIANS", "Purity may be a Nazi but she is a great mom", "Rune is redeemed by being a lesbian", that's the kind of stuff that proliferates in this fandom. One of the fics I was most disgusted by was a "comedy" on Spacebattles where Sophia is mastered (by Taylor) into having a white supremacy fetish and attempts to rape Theo for 10 chapters straight. There was at least one moderator happily commenting on it. I reported it 3 times and got a message telling me to stop because it was allowed. It's gone now (6 years later), but whether because the author deleted it or it was removed, I don't know. I do have some of the quotes from it. Don't read them though.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My Stand-In (Thai Fri iQIYI) ep 1 of 12 eps - Adaptation of Chinese novel Professional Body Double by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of KP was the clashing directing styles). The MDL description made it sound complicated af but actually it's not so bad. In fact it's GOOD.

Stuntman Joe dies on the job and wakes up in the body of another Joe who has an entirely different life. But our Joe just gets his new body right back into his old existence, full of friends, enemies, and one troublesome ex. Poom is absolutely killing it in the lead. Mek is perfectly cast as the Actor du Jerk. I’m not sold on Up’s bratty brokenhearted rich kid... yet. The show though, I like it. I like a one (two) night stand starting things off and I like a lot of morally gray characters. Fun fun!

Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 8fin - The lesbian moms are the cutest thing in the world and my favorite thing this week. Bar none.

Summation:

It's about a host club and all the gay boys in it and some stuff that's not important because... PEOPLE OF EARTH WE HAVE A HONEST REP OF POLY IN A BL. Stand up and raise your hands in prayer to the Thai BL gods because sure as shit no one else was ever going to give this to us. For that alone this show gets 8/10 from me. Bonus Lesbian moms and great kisses.

Two Worlds (Thurs iQIYI) ep 7 of 10 - Say what you want about MaxNat all these years that they've been paired makes them great onscreen boyfriends. And you know me, I'm a total sucker for linguistic negotiation. Makes my heart go all mushy. That said, now that the leads are together, I’m really uninterested in all the drama around the ex-boyfriend/triangle. I'm glad this is only 10 eps.

1000 Years Old (Thurs iQIYI) ep 11 of 12 - They gave me the tiniest teaser for the kinky vampire BL that I have wanted my whole life. And now I'm just fucking annoyed with the rest of the show. 

We Are (Weds iQIYI) ep 3-4 of 16 - Q & Toey are the only interesting thing going on. I actually didn’t like this pair in My School President, but I’m enjoying them here. The others are all fine but these two have my heart. I have questions like: did Phum ever get his shopping bags back? And why is Phum driving a different colored car half way through the ep?

Only Boo! (Sun YouTube) ep 3 of 12 - The quality is good (it’s GMMTV) but the acting is... not. Still I loved that Moo just made the confession for both of them. Very in character. Does this plot remind anyone else of Footloose? Just me? Side couple was cute but now a bit too stalker for me. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 10 of 12 - It’s fantastic. Such a great show. We are so lucky. This is basically Taiwan’s The Eights Sense. I didn’t know they had it in them, but I’m really glad that they did.

Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 3 of 10 - As JBL’s go this is way more my speed (than Alaska). It’s just so sweet and awkward but charming about it. The confession was so earnest. 

Blue Boys (Korea YouTube) 2 of ? No MDL link - It’s very sexy this one. Not sure what Korea thinks it's doing, but I’m not mad about it. 

Gray Shelter (Korea Thurs iQIYI) ep 5fin - summation: About a slacker nursing a crush on the (brief) older stepbrother who abandoned him. Upon finding him again he moves in with him, upends the mans lost suffering life. A dark gritty piece with confusing subs making it too chewy to really grok. It's trying to do too much for its length. The tension is real and the acting is good, it's just everything else stymied clean execution of the core concept. Frankly I spent this show expecting (and wanting them) to just fall into bed together - in a kind of desperate fight sex. It didn’t happen, and I’m disappointed by the non-ending we got. (Whether it’s going to have more in the series or not.) 7/10 I'm open to changing the rank if a part two fixes this one's flaws.

Boys Be Brave AKA Roommates (Korea Thurs Viki) ep 1-2 of 8 - Oh dear. Terrible hair. Jock nerd pairing. OCD baby cakes. Cohabitation trope. Killer side couple. Def unhinged. 

At 25:00 in Alaska AKA 25 Ji Akasaka de (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - I’m still genuinely not sure about this one. It’s just a little too awkward for me in the wrong way. I expect all Japanese BL to have a certain aura of awkwardness so I don’t know what it is about this one turnign me off. I do enjoy that we’re getting both stories, the one between the actors, and a little bit of the roles that they’re playing on screen but... yeah

Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 7-8 of 12 - The leads finally had a moment but there is negative chemistry. Why am I watching this? 

It's airing but...

Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.

Love seeing more of Pebble! I'm a sucker for tattoos and people who look serious but are softies at heart. What kind of music do they like? And what do they do to unwind? If you've already answered these feel free to drop any other info!

These two questions work together so well actually!!

Gonna start with the second one first.

She loves music and in her free time she may stare at a wall and blast some music in her headphones. She can also play the guitar, prefers an electric guitar but while she's on base she has an acoustic one in her room to play occasionally. She could also sing but she's very shy about it. Besides this she's a big enoyer of just being lazy when she's got free time.

Now about what kind of music she likes... this is a question I'm always bad at. She'd probably answer with just rock, indie rock, rap, hiphop, alt stuff. She's a big fan of LOUD (ahem, why she prefers the electric guitar) music tho so throw in some elecro house techno? Rave music? (I'm very bad with genre names, sorry). (Extra info: she struggles with her anger, it just gets so intense sometimes, so instead of being violent she finds peace in blasting violent music in her ears and letting the anger burn like that.) But you also bet she LOVES cunty music. She loves women being nasty and dirty and will listen to some slutty songs or women talking shit about men no matter the genre. Also she's romanian so throw in some random romanian songs or manele when she misses home or is drinking.

Atalanta retelling (review)

Since it's divided in multiple parts, I'll divide this review according to those parts.

Here is a prediction bingo I created out of my and my moots' predictions, I'd like to thank @gingermintpepper , @go-rocksquadsfan , @amostcuriousmythicist , @just-1-scorpio , @jejesoso and @margaretkart (in dms) for giving me the ideas.

Note that not all of these predictions are necessarily negative, but pretty obvious for the genre. The free spaces are for "Stuff I should've seen coming"

Since I made it AFTER reading the first part, I'll be nice and only start counting their realization in the next ones. Although I could already be crossing :

Part 1 - Childhood

I must admit I'm pretty relieved.

Since @aliciavance4228 's heated review of Crown of serpents, I'd fear this retelling would be as bad and completely stray from the source material.

But, although it isn't excellent by any means, it does follow the trend of "non-American retellings not being as disastrously inaccurate".

If the whole book has the same level of quality as this first part, it'd easily earn 3 stars, aka kind of decent, has its flaws but nothing too horrible.

Since I review as I go, I may be wrong about some things. If I end up proven wrong, I'll state it in the reblogs.

Summary

It basically tells us little Atalanta's childhood: from her being abandoned by her biological father's orders as a baby to her living with a mama bear, then two hunters meeting and adopting her.

Her rowdy but isolated childhood gets turned upside down when she comes across wild centaurs who burn houses and kill insects for their pleasure. After a difficult fight, she ends up killing them both.

She ends up being taken by Chiron, who saw the whole thing, and also meets a kid Asclepius.

The good (from best to decent)

I'm a sucker for found family stories 😂. So I found the little plot of Atalanta living with her adoptive dads very classic but nonetheless pretty cute. It's my favorite part of the whole thing.

Btw no, they're not a gay couple, they just raised her together. They're basically a hunter family, they taught her to use a bow and arrow, introduced the wild little girl who lived in the forest to humankind and they're just pretty cool guys.

Which gets me to point n°2 : this book doesn't demonize every single man. So the feminist message won't be as heavy handed and clumsy as other retellings. Heck, maybe it may be decently used.

The author seems to have some knowledge of mythology. Yes, this is an actual quality compared to some of the other retellings out there

The book takes place in Greece. There's even a map (something I always like). Bare minimum, I know, but so few retellings reach it these days.

The gods don't seem to be super demonized (for now)

I like Atalanta's little hiding place with lil flowers and all. And her having to give it up in order to grow up, go with Chiron and live

This book makes me more invested in the myth version of Atalanta, whom I only knew from afar (contrary to Asclepius, I didn't spend hours researching her fof personal reasons 😂)

The bad (from actual dislikes to nitpicks)

There's nothing super awful but I have some nitpicks.

Atalanta is way too overpowered. As a 4yo child she is said to be "as strong as a man". At a young age, she can effortlessly carry a tree trunk. Chiron says he never saw anyone as quick and agile as her while she's still an untrained kid.

If she was her adult self, I'd be way more lenient, especially since most of her described feats happened in the myths (like killing the centaurs). Actually, except the beginning, the book is surprisingly myth-accurate 😂. For now.

But my main problem is that she's a KID. After all, she's just a mortal child trained by two mortals but she can defeat two centaurs with only a slight difficulty and a perfect arrow aim ? As a CHILD ? It's too much. Maybe her own training with Chiron will show her weaknesses and what she works on.

If Atalanta was slightly, and I do mean slightly less skilled, I wouldn't be bothered with it.

Tthe book spends way too much time describing how strong she is.

There IS an explanation on why she's OP but I find it out of place, to the point that no explanation would've been a bit better. Basically, it's because she's blessed not only by Artemis (this one makes sense) but also by Ares and Aphrodite??? Who just came walking in the woods for no apparent reason other than "Plot". It's something I'd expect from Pandora and even then, she wasn't blessed with "kid Heracles" levels of strength. I'd expect hard work, difficult beginnings but impressive progress by Atalanta. Not some backstory akin to Wonder Woman

Yeah, she has "not like other girls™" energy. Even as a baby, before being blessed by the gods, she never cried or something.

I'm sorry, but as much as I kinda like her dads as a character, the fact that someone is named Azariel in an Ancient Greek setting immediately bothered me. It's a Hebrew name btw.

The mid

Atalanta isn't a particularly interesting protagonist but she's not that bad either. The two first bad points bother me, but she's not annoying. She's just a typical wild girl who wants adventure and seeks justice.

Atalanta likes the Amazons and wants to join them. It was on the summary so I am not surprised. I'll see how the rest of the book handles it before judging.

The book states that Artemis is fond of them. While Artemis isn't the n°1 member of the Amazons fan-club (that's Ares), iirc she did take a few of them as hunting companions. Correcr me if I'm wrong. So it's okay

Asclepius is here 😂. He appeared for 2 pages in total (towards the end) and is characterized as a bratty boy who's like "ew a girl !". Since he's a kid and kids can be immature, I'll forgive it for now, but I'll be extra nitpicky about this man once he's an adult.

The gods aren't demonized for now and Artemis watches over Atalanta. Though I wonder if gods would need a magical crystal ball to watch mortals instead of having the innate ability to do so
