I use an Intuos graphics tablet! (medium, 'cause I like to hold it when I draw.) I've tried some other brands and styles of tablet, but in the end I personally just like the feeling of the Wacom surfaces the best. sorry to my wallet. 😔

#i've tried display tablets and i just...don't like them as much #i've gotten too used to plopping my tablet in my lap and looking up at my screen versus eternal shrimp mode #one of my art teachers was like...genuinely SO bothered by this and kept trying to make me use a cintiq instead 😭#but tbh i'm more bothered by having the feeling of a layer between the pen and the drawing #than by the disconnect between holding the tablet and looking up at a screen #or something like that. idk.#i probably should make another effort to get into displays just for like. work-related reasons. but i like my trusty little intuos too much #especially because uh. well. look i don't want to admit how many times i've accidentally dropped or bumped this little fucker #and it doesn't even notice #you could slam-dunk an intuos into concrete at 20 mph and it would just flash 'TOUCH: OFF' a couple times and be fine #(disclaimer: this is not true. do not do this.)#(do not take tablet-care advice from someone who just admitted to frequently dropping their expensive fancy art tool)

do.... other people have a 'junk' pocket? it just occurred to me that this may not be a normal thing people have.

like. a pocket in which you keep a bunch of random shit?

for instance, in my junk pocket i have:

old pair of wired earbuds

tape measure

one of those cloths you use to clean glasses

keys to my friends' apartment (i petsit for them sometimes)

some cash i keep forgetting to give to my mom

One Marble

a singular fingerless glove

fake nose ring

hair tie

a deadpool laser pointer (doesn't work/batteries are dead)

the joey from the kangaroo beanie baby (pouch)

a fidget ring thing i got for my birthday

receipt for renewing my driver's license

#🔪.text #i keep an old pair of earbuds to steal the earbud piece from on the chance i lose the piece on my current ones #tape measure i put in there years ago bc i needed it for something and then just put in my pocket instead of putting it away #was going to put it back the next day but i didn't #and then i ended up in a situation where someone needed a tape measure #and so i got to just whip it out and be like ''I GOT YOU'' (much to the confusion of the people involved)#and because of that i've never taken it out since #the glove is bc i used to use that for drawing so my hand wouldn't fuck things up while using the touch screen #i don't draw with my pen anymore tho so i haven't had the need to use it #hair tie is mostly kept there in case of injury so i can hold a paper towel against the wound and just continue on with my day #but is also there in case someone i'm with breaks theirs #fidget ring is self-explanatory. don't need to explain why that's in there #everything else i don't really have any excuse for it being in there #also of note i have Another cloth to clean my glasses in the little pocket. which is the one i use #i don't use the one in my junk pocket

i am learning to draw on new medium and it is incredibly difficult

#the medium is MS paint with my computer mouse #it makes me want to scream #(the only drawing i've done consistently before is pencil and paper. aka doodling on my notes)#the zoom feature is really screwing with my proportions #which were not great to begin with but at least made some sense #and curves. curves are HARD cause you kinda have to do them continuously bc even if you get pixel perfect it'll be thick if you do two line #but then the undo button gets rid of the good part too and the erase makes where you join it up look weird #tomorrow i try drawing on a touch screen which i think i will hate even more #(from experience. touching the screen with only the pen/stylus is hard. my hand will touch it and it will ruin everything)
