Look y’all, this came to me while I was in the shower and is cracky and absurd and one of the best things I’ve ever written. Two and a half years later and I’m still obsessed with this ridiculous little fic. It’s insane. It’s hilarious. It’s ALSO TECHNICALLY CANON. And I love it so much. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.

2 Good People, Bad Beer (post S3 SethKate)

Seth and Kate bonding over shitty beer and making out against the back of a car after surviving Matanzas, what more can you ask for? I re-read this one A Lot. It’s so good. I love it so much. Seth being dumb about them while Kate is sitting there super certain about them both is one of my favorite dynamics to write for them.

3 not the same (post TPS2/DDS3 Kastle)

Maria gets a pass out of the afterlife and uses it to browbeat her erstwhile husband into committing to get a better apartment and matchmaking him and Karen. Because of course she would. Maria Castle totally ships it, and it works because I said so and it’s not like anyone in the comics actually stays dead anyway.

4 watching over someone from afar (post TPS2 Kastle)

This was a BEHEMOTH inspired by a Sailor Moon quote and it’s such a delight. There’s nothing I love more than putting Karen together with the Lieberman family, and especially with Sarah. The dramatic scenes between Karen and Frank, especially the one right after Frank called David freaking out because he thought she was missing when she was really just snowed in at their house was just so much fun to write and it’s a beast of a fic but so much fun to go back to. Also fun to throw in those bits of Karen traumatizing Foggy on purpose.

5 There Is No Easy Way To Explain (post TPS1 Kastle)

“Karen, I know you kind of got thrown in to the whole paralegal thing, but did Matt and Foggy not teach you a thing about ethics? Specifically, the ethics of not sleeping with your client? Especially the clients on trial for almost forty fucking homicides.” - okay but like, this fic has some of the best one-liners I’ve ever written, and Marci’s POV is SUCH a fun sandbox to play around in. She’s just like..how do you LIVE and Karen’s like…hot marine with an eight-pack ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honorable mentions, because I could not resist: what died didn’t stay dead (you’re alive, you’re alive in my head) SethKate, post S3 and Seth just does not understand how Kate is alive because he’s in awe of her, which, duh. Chapter 4 of The Strongest Stars one-shot RebelCaptain, Jyn and Cassian aren’t easy to write and this was just a fun bit of banter, It Often Rhymes Damerey takes a jaunt to Naboo and I choose not to care that Force Ghosts don’t work like that, Going Through The Unimaginable Damerey, post TLJ and they're all stuck on the Falcon and was just really fun to write, Three People, Two Reunions, One Room In Medical (RebelCaptain, post ANH - it’s a crime that Jyn and Leia never got to interact outside of some of the comic canon)

Thus, boosting its development activity and making the chain an attractive hub of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols. In fact, jittery holders started to dump their holdings fearing a big crash in the days to come. The token plunged 9.4% over the past week to its press time value of $17.68.

absolutely agree—it should be Frank. their whole dynamic in ddba s1 had shifted (i love it) into something else, and Karen deserves to be chosen, period. and yeah, it’s absolutely hilarious (and probably true) that Frank would be a disaster leading up to it—like a skittish, emotionally repressed kitten debating whether to bolt or stay. but when it comes to the ✨ kiss ✨, when he actually gets to that moment, it’d be far from tps1 when he barely kissed her on the cheek and basically professing he sees Karen as someone important, as family. no. Frank’s gotta grab her with both hands.

scenario-wise, i want the kiss to happen either 1) after a forehead touch first or 2) after an adrenaline high, something awful happens, but they’re safe, bruised, and Frank just decides, say, fuck it and goes for it.

even tho imo kastle is one of those ships where they don’t have to kiss on screen to be devastatingly powerful, if it does happen, good lord. that’s just a bonus for all of us emotionally invested fools.

I have a big IF question.

IF (please let it happen superior power) we get the Kastle ✨kiss✨ in s2, who do you want initiating the kiss and why ?

And I'm left asking if these Kastle fans even realize that Frank doesn't really treat her all that well, and largely uses her to get information that furthers his own goals.

I think they forget things like how he shot at her and Grotto in a crowded hospital with a shotgun. He then tried shooting at her car as she and Grotto drove off, which could've led to her wrecking. He later used her as bait to draw out the Blacksmith. And he crashed a truck into her car and left her unconscious and bleeding on the roadside as he went to kill Schoonover.

Fast forward to TPS1, and Frank only reaches out to Karen when he needs info from her, and doesn't offer her any condolences over Matt. He also arguably put her in danger during the Lewis Wilson affair by coming after Lewis against her wishes, and practically goading Lewis into blowing himself up while Karen is still in the blast radius.

And in DDS3, Frank didn't get involved when Fisk was going after Karen as revenge for Wesley's death.

Yeah, I'd say a lot of that ship is primarily rooted in "a man and a woman form sn emotional connection, and we can't fathom the idea of it being platonic", IMO.

my question is do people even like or are interested in karen page outside of a shipping context? cause going through her tags on here it's nothing but karen being discussed in terms of shipping her with frank and almost 90% of it is karen x frank content...doesn't that speak to the level of how interesting and compelling she actually is if people are only interested in talking about her when it's time to ship her with frank 😬 and barely anything about the merits of her own character? 😬 just pondering i guess

I mean, it's Tumblr. Shipping is basically this site's bread and butter. Especially given that Karen is a secondary character, it makes sense that most of the posts about her are shipping-related. That's just an issue with the data pool, lol.

You do you, but for me, I prefer to engage with media on its own terms, and decide its merit based on the text itself. While it can sometimes be useful to take into consideration the thoughts of the masses, in general I don't think that's a reliable indicator of the quality of a text (or a specific character, in this case). People are extremely influenced by the opinions of others, and that's only exacerbated in a social media context. Opinions change and shift over time, which is normal. Things that were once beloved have since been panned. Things that were once lambasted are now lauded. Look at the works of Stephen Sondheim, for example; the general opinion of audiences at the time were rarely indicative of the quality of his work (I'm reading his biography so it's on the brain rn, lol). So for me, no. I don't necessarily take into account the internet's opinions when I am engaging with a text.

Personally, I find Karen Page incredibly compelling, both within the context of her various relationships, and on her own merits. Her arc as she goes from a foolhardy, reckless mess to a confident, intelligent, even dangerous journalist is one of the highlights of the show to me. As is her struggle to come to terms with her feelings for Matt and what he does, and the concept of extralegal justice at large. I love watching her work through a traumatic past, continually fall into old toxic patterns, and claw her way out again. To me, that is compelling, regardless of what people on the internet think.

Again, you do you—people are free to like or dislike a character, to ship or not to ship, what have you. But I don't think that the easily-swayed opinions of Tumblr or the internet at large is an objective indicator of the quality of any piece of media—especially when people are predisposed to dislike her because of ingrained misogyny.

Do you know how much time passed since Frank's familiy got killed and him "dying" to Billy finding out Frank is alive?

Based on the Daredevil S2 timeframe (ending late 2015), that would mean that Frank’s family was killed sometime in the beginning of that same year. If the Kandahar video was sent to Micro about a year and a half before TPS1 began (November-ish of 2016), then that would mean that Billy assumed Frank was dead for roughly  a year, from the events of DDS2 until they reconnected in TPS1.

I believe that the entirety of Frank’s story as the MNU Punisher spans from mid 2015 - onward with the end of TPS2 taking place mid/late summer 2018, since it was about a year that Billy was in the hospital, he then broke out and had a few months to set up Valhalla and all that. (Also, I’m going based on the clothing that the characters wore, and there’s no way that Amy could have worn that dress in spring in NYC and been comfortable)

Timeline:

Kandahar mission (Rawlins losing the eye) - Later 2014

Billy goes back to NYC - Late 2014/early 2015 (I believe the “doctored discharge papers” Rawlins mentioned to Billy allowed him to go home earlier than he was supposed to in exchange for financial help.

Kandahar video from Gunner is sent/The Castles get killed - Early 2015

DDS2 - However long after that it takes Frank to heal from the head wound, ends late 2015

TPS1 - November 2016

TPS2 - Starts sometime late 2017, ends mid 2018

I could very well be wrong - because I don’t remember seeing snow when they’re at the police station in Ohio, or when Frank is at Lola’s, but that’s my best guess!

I would love to see Frank in DDS3, but I will not be surprised if they don’t even mention him. The Punisher S.1 saw Karen at her lowest point and didn’t even mention Matt- a man they both knew DYING.

I would love better continuity between shows but my expectations are low.
