T-HR3 Humanoid Robot (2017), Tomohisa Moridaira (team leader), Toyota, Japan. "T-HR3 was launched in 2017 and the latest version, presented in 2019, is a machine capable of sophisticated, flexible movements that mirror the actions of a human operator who can be up to 100km away. … The operator uses a Master Manoeuvring System to control movement, right down to finger level. These lightweight controls are strapped to the operator, including a VR headset which shows them to view the robot’s surroundings in real time. The development of finger control has enabled T-HR3 to do more delicate and precise tasks, increasing its functionality. … The robot’s basic human shape makes it easier for a human to control without the special training required of a more complex design. It also makes it easier for the robot to operate in environments that are designed to suit humans. Tomohisa Moridaira, team leader for the development of T-HR3, said: “We still have to overcome many development issues. But in the future, people will be able to extend their ability to move and experience the world using remote avatar robots. The ability to offer new mobility services like this is a goal that is well-suited to Toyota as it transforms into a mobility company. Evaroid Seria

An android (Evaroid) designed for VIP protection, belonging to the Metropolitan Police Department-designated private organization "Police Support Service (P.S.S.)." Her product name is "SLRYASS," and she is the 12th unit of the female-type EC series. Normally, Evaroids are given unique names, but she retains her product name as her personal identifier. The reason behind this is that her assignment to protect Hayato Kusunoki was decided so suddenly that there was no time to assign her a proper name. She usually operates in human form (Normal Mode), but in emergency situations, she activates her Guard Mode, transforming into a combat-ready form. (Appears in: Seria)

Evaroid Seria and Evaroid Ai. They are basically androids designated by the Metropolitan Police Department to guard important people, with Seria being the superior Evaroid. They also have slightly different designs.

Evaroid Ai

The first unit (prototype) of the EC series, a female-type android designed for VIP protection. She is currently assigned to a protection role, just like the mass-produced units. Her basic performance is similar to Seria, but as a prototype, she possesses additional redundancies, making her slightly more capable. However, she also has drawbacks, such as insufficient weight reduction in components. Many of her parts are incompatible with mass-produced units, making future modifications during maintenance inevitable. Differences in appearance between her and the mass-produced models can also be observed. (Appears in: Seria)

Godzilla Design Runway: Tristar/Millenium

Today I'm covering Godzilla's appearance from the first design to use CGI to the last film to use suitmation. Photos sourced from Wikizilla.

Chinzilla (1998) Ground zero for Raptorization, though his gangly proportions feel closer to a Xenomorph at times. Either way it doesn't suit Godzilla: what works at theropod size doesn't scale up well to a Daikaiju, and ToraGoji lacks the sturdy, pyramidal build that grounds the traditional suits. The design is also awkwardly front heavy, with the forward swept dorsal plates, broad shoulders, and lantern jaw.

Big Head Mode (1998) While giving Godzilla children is usually a way to develop his character, Emmerich seems more invested in aping the raptor scenes from Jurassic Park. As a result the Baby Godzillas are much more vilified than their predecessors, though their menacing features are undercut by their disproportionate, stick-figure builds.

DailyDose (1999-2000) A pretty radical reinvention of the King of the Monsters that still retains the spirit of the character. Channeling KingGoji, the first Millenium suit opts for a more reptilian visage, with its green skin, less upright pose, and crocodilian maw filled with jagged fangs. Its gigantic, crystalline dorsal plates are wholly original, rounding off a unique and iconic package, While it's not my preferred take on the King of the Monsters, I respect it immensely.

ThanksDoc (1999) Orga has one of the more unique builds among kaiju. Its hulking, brutish form is an ironic contrast to its pensive, cautious approach. It's a bit ungainly for my taste, but I can't deny it works in the context of a runaway mutation.

Godzilla Wants the Flamethrower (1999) We see very little of Orga's second phase before it is blown to smithereens. The mouth net is certainly unnerving and I like the rougher skin texture, though it's only a copy of MireGoji's. Ultimately it's more of teaser for further transformation than it is a complete design.

GojiMosuGhidoGoji (2001) The most villainous looking Godzilla design, GMK's squared off muzzle and empty gaze are instantly recognizable. While the more upright stance combined with the neck orientation gives this Godzilla rather poor posture, it helps enhance his menace though his distinct "skulking" silhouette.

Perpetual Perplexion (2002-2003) A solid synthesis of Miregoji's build with more traditional features. While KiryuGoji loses some of the originality of the first Millennium suit, its less fearsome face has unprecedented ability to emote. The amount of animatronics they crammed into that head is impressive: I think the Kiryu Duology may have been where Suitmation peaked at Toho.

Mechagodzilla Unit 03 (2002) While I've come to prefer the original's Tin Can charms, Kiryu was my favorite version for a long time. Instead of sleek futurism or whimsical retrofuturism, Kiryu grounds itself in the Real Robot genre with its detailed, plausible mechanical design. Appropriately resembling both a skeleton and a suit of armor, Kiryu's flexible, organic structure also deserves props for its functioning tail.

MFS-03Z Kai (2003) While its film isn't as good, I actually prefer Modified Kiryu's more streamlined, color-coordinated battle pack and railguns. That said, I miss the Absolute Zero Canon, and while the drill hand is fun, it feels a bit mechanically dubious for an otherwise grounded design.

Absolutely Zero Chill (2004) While the prior Millennium Suits retained surprising mobility given their bulk, the Final Godzilla suit is slimmed down for maximum flexibility and athleticism. Unlike some of its costars, FinalGoji still avoids an overtly humanoid build, instead evoking later Showa suits with extra muscle. It's demeanor is decidedly less Showa: with furrowed brow, piercing glare, and grimacing sneer, FinalGoji looks the most furious of any Godzilla. It's an eclectic mix of features, but impressive nonetheless.

The Relapse (2004) Somehow Minilla returned. While his most displeasing features have been smoothed over, he still resembles a Barney character more than anything Godzilla adjacent. Ultimately the worst version of Godzilla Junior is still more appealing than the best version of Minilla.

Jira Minus D (2004) Fairly embarrassing. While the CGI model's straightened dorsal fins alleviate some of ToraGoji's front-heaviness, this is still ultimately just a lower detail version of the worst Godzilla design.

Optimus Primal

I don't exactly remember when I got this guy, but it was sometime back in 2021. I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

This is Optimus Primal. We've seen him before, but THIS version is part of the now defunct (or I presume it is by now) R.E.D. toyline or 'Robot Enhanced Design' line Just a fancy way of Hasbro trying to merge the concepts of Action Masters and Star Wars' Black Series figures.

I've covered a few of them at this point, and I never bought that many, aside from the obligatory Optimus Prime, Megatron, and a few others; I thought mostly the line was a bit of a let down.

But I would say Optimus Primal is (mostly) an exception.

Bot mode:

I suppose it would be pointless to talk about the beast mode, considering he doesn't have one.

Anyway, Optimus Primal is in his Season 1 robot mode, and I gotta say, THIS is fantastic!

The sculpting of the fur is so good; some of the best in my opinion.

The Optimus head sculpt might be one of the best Primal head sculpts I've ever seen too (though I do think the blue of his helmet and the gray of his mask are bit too dark).

The range of motion on this figure is good. The toy is capable of a lot of different poses which is great for photography.

For some reason, the chest panel and the backpack are removable, and I'm not really sure why. There is some sculpting under the chest panel, so I suppose this could be a form of battle damage...OR maybe since some of the other R.E.D figures have similar removable pieces, perhaps they can swapped around to different figures...

Accessories:

Optimus Primal comes with few accessories; a pair of closed fists and his two swords.

Starting with the swords. They're fine. I think they look really nice, they feel solid, and look accurate to the shows design.

On the downside, however, is not with the swords, but with Optimus' gripping hands.

The plastic of the gripping hands is very thick and not very maleable. I had to exert some strength in order to wedge those sword handles into the hands. It's not fun.

Swapping out the grip hands for the closed fists is very simple. And once you got those dukes on, Optimus Primal is ready to box.

They look fine, but I wish Optimus came with another pair of hands, with open palms or something.

Final Thoughts:

R.E.D. Optimus Primal might be one of the best this line had to offer (in spite of its flaws) in its brief existence.

The sculpting is good, the level of articulation is good, the accessories...are lacking. But at the end of the day, it's just fun. Maybe not $20 worth of fun, but fun nonetheless.

I do have to say that I think 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime scales in well with RED Optimus Primal

HERE HE IS, MY POST CANON VIKTOR DESIGN. putting all of his info/headcanon below the cut because of spoilers as well as just how long this post got. this design may not be finalised just yet.

-both him and jayce emerge from the crystal. due to some arcane magic mumbo jumbo, viktor’s appearance has been reverted back to his human self (sort of a combination of season 1 + season 2 act 2)

-is serving prison time due to his involvement in the noxian invasion. however someone (COUGH jayce COUGH) managed to talk things out, especially with catlin in order to make his situation more comfortable. he’s not bound to a prison cell, but he is bound to a specific area in piltover, which could either be the prison, jayce’s home, the kiramen household, his old lab, who knows! where exactly he’s being held is still under development, but it’s sort of like house arrest.

-spends most of his time still tinkering with machinery. whilst he doesn’t have access to a lot thanks to him serving his sentence, he’ll ask jayce and others whom he’s friends with to bring him scraps they may find and he’ll use what he can salvage to make new things. one of his favourites is making small robotic toys, just like the boat he made as a child, for the children of piltover who were effected.

-despite his situation, viktor wants to help rebuild piltover, since its destruction was majorly his own doing. he’ll help out when and where he can, doing small jobs here and there, but he hates that he’s not able to do more. he also feels very guilty about his crimes, but is on his way to both being forgiven and also forgiving himself.

-his leg is still deformed, however his terminal illness has been somewhat cured. he is still physically weaker than most, but his condition will not deteriorate any more from where it currently is. in short, whilst he won’t get any better, he won’t get any worse.

-scars still on his face, and left hand is lost completely engulfed in arcane scarring thanks to what he and jayce accomplished in the astral plane. and yes, they somehow managed to salvage the blanket, which he still wears as a scarf.

-a lot more mellowed out. still has some snappy comebacks and that sass we all know and love, but he’s much calmer. he also still speaks quite robotically and monotone thanks to his fusion with the hexcore, but he’s working on improving it with some speech therapy here and there.

-viktor still has some remnants of his healing abilities left, but they’re extremely minute and have extreme limitations. it requires a lot of concentration to work, and he can only heal at least one person daily, as the process is incredibly draining on his body. however, he can’t heal major wounds or disease like he previously could, the most he can do nowadays is make a flower stop wilting, or heal someone’s scrapped knee. anymore than that and he’ll simply get too exhausted or pass out from over exertion. however, he’s secretly training himself to try and enhance these abilities. he does so in private as to not cause panic, as his many still remember his abilities being associated with his cult and then their robotic transformations, so many aren’t very trusting.

-sparks/small pieces of arcane magic can still emerge form his body, but it’s an involuntary reaction. they’re heavily tied to his emotions, and if you’re touching him when this happens, the most you’ll feel is a small buzz. this can happen when he’s excited, surprised, and more. however, these sparks are also tied to his anger, and if you find yourself in physical contact with him when this occurs, it’ll feel much more like an electric shock or being hit with a taser.

Austin’s 3D printed neighborhood could signal a shift in homebuilding (video)

On the outskirts of Austin, Texas, a groundbreaking housing development is taking shape—literally—layer by layer. The project, a collaboration between homebuilding giant Lennar and construction tech firm Icon, marks the largest community of 3D printed homes in the world.

With 100 houses built over two years, the initiative serves as a pilot for faster, more cost-effective construction methods.

The development comes at a critical time for the U.S. housing market, which faces a shortage of approximately four million homes. Rising labor costs and soaring material prices have made homeownership increasingly out of reach for many Americans. Against this backdrop, 3D printing is being tested as a viable way to increase supply and stabilize costs.

For Holly, one of the community’s first residents, the benefits are already evident. She and her family were drawn to the home’s sleek design and promise of energy efficiency. A year later, she reports consistently low electric bills—just $26 in January—and appreciates the home’s resistance to wind, fire, and mold. At just under $400,000, the price point is competitive with larger, traditionally built homes in the area.

At the heart of the construction process is Icon’s robotic technology, which can produce a house in roughly two weeks. The system relies on digital blueprints uploaded to a proprietary platform called Build OS, which automates structural reinforcement, wiring, and plumbing. With only three workers needed to operate the machinery, the process is a significant step toward labor reduction—a key factor in scaling affordable housing.

The project encountered early setbacks. Initial builds took longer and cost more than expected. But through trial and error, the team refined their methods—adjusting wall thickness and adopting more open floor plans to streamline production.

Lennar and Icon are already preparing their next phase: a new community featuring twice as many homes, lower price points, and enhanced 3D printing capabilities that could eventually fabricate complete building envelopes, including roofs and foundations. The technology also holds promise for disaster-prone regions, where fire-resistant materials and durable design could be life-saving.

Although 3D printed homes have yet to match the profitability of conventional construction, the partnership signals a broader transformation in an industry long resistant to change. If successful, this model could pave the way for more sustainable, resilient, and accessible housing across the country.
