I really like your thoughts on drv3, so I wonder if you have any thoughts on Kiibo? Or Miu. I kinned Kiibo very, very intensely for two years when I was 12-14 and him and Miu were all I talked about, that part of me is now lost to time. I guess Kiibo is kinda a weird character to form such a deep and intense attachment to, but I also hardcore kinned his fanon grumpy pregame self. Me and my friends would talk about our danganronpa kin memories on the playground , it was wild.

i don't think kiibo is a weird character to attach to- much like every other character he is just another example of a type of kid that could have existed, especially within the spaces danganronpa kins find themselves in. i know exactly what you mean, i spent so much time at school or at playgrounds discussing with my ex what our timelines were like, since he was "my" korekiyo, and "my" kazuichi.

miu and kiibo are two of my favorite characters, i don't think attaching to kiibo is weird at all. i actually kin both of them as well, but that's not saying much since with a combination of the people in my head i'm sure you could say i kin the whole game. but i mean, these two specifically i tend to organize into the same character group as ouma. i have written partially about my feelings towards ouma, iruma and kiibo before here, so i apologize if i repeat myself.

miu has always interested me less so because of her character in canon and moreso because of the reaction to her character- for some reason i noticed a lt of transmen and transmascs really gravitating towards her, and for once i felt like what i saw in a character was being seen by other people. she reminds me a lot of my feelings towards characters like jane crocker or vanessa afton, there is this trope i see sort of infrequently- hypersexual daughter of xyz powerful figure, typically some form of cop or government. i think mius character in canon falls pretty flat, danganronpa has an issue of fetishizing survivors and sadly if you're both a survivor and a girl in this series you get essentially boiled down to being a two dimensional creep. miu, in my opinion though, has more potential than the other ones in the past, though thats my personal opinion. i feel as if tsumiki and touko are both very very by the books and basic, where as i feel like miu actually has some intrigue to her character. she actually has autonomy, for one, in comparison to the others, and the way she uses that autonomy is interesting i think, because for once her motives are not based around desire or lust like the other survivors of the game but out of an intense and somewhat justified paranoia that she was going to be killed and a desire to survive, which i feel like is indicative of the general basis of NDRv3 itself. mius more realistic actions as a suvivor translate well, she reads as someone with ptsd and paranoia caused by things that have happened to her in her past life but instead of that turning her into an autonomousless puppet she actually finds herself attempting to take back her life intentionally through paranoid violence. though i will say, i think she still falls flat on this. its a problem NDRv3 has. i see a lot of potential in it, but that potential is never reached. miu is never allowed to be a total parody of the past characters because the game cannot commit to its satirical nature, its too worried about pandering. so while miu has these themes in her character, ultimately she is still treated like a puppet by the narrative. i think for me though this adds a bit of artistic inspiration- i like the feeling of being ble to "save" characters from their bad writing. it feels like i am able to see something other people arent and expand upon that in an interesting way. i'll write more about my interpretation of miu soon, shes been on my mind.

kiibo onn the other hand is a character i rarely talk about specifically just because i really like what he is in canon. i actually dont have an interpretation for kiibo as an adult like i do the other characters because honestly i feel like kiibos story ends with danganronpa itself. i know a lot of people really like the ending of kiibo being around in a cell phone or something, but i kind of personally think thats a bit hellish. i think if i were to include kiibo in my au, which i do at some point, he will end up being human in one way or another. i really try to stay away from scifi and other things like that. kiibo in canon i think is a really interesting character because he is essentially supposed to be a stand in for the player, even though we literally already have kaede and shuichi. which i also find interesting because it implies that- no, neither are meant to be projected onto either. they are their own people, not a stand in for the people controlling them. and this too is even meant to call into question how much of a person kiibo even really is- if saihara AND kaede can all be controlled by the player and theyre still autonomous people, than can kiibo? how much control did kiibo even have as a non-existing person? its not like he had a life outside of danganronpa in the first place to be "written over" but if what was written over was really gone would that even matter in comparison to kaede? it's something i really really enjoy. i also just, generally, really like his personality. im always a sucker for the characters who are sweetie pies in shitty situations, kiibo and gonta standing out to me specifically. i think the robophobia jokes are really really annoying, and also dates the game a lot. he is doing the same thing southpark and homestuck was doing at the time, attempting to make fun of the very popular "autistic" extremely literal social justice warrior with no sense of humor trope, and while I PERSONALLY have a soft spot for that trope since that was me growing up, i also think it just gets really tacky and leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially with a game with so much nazi imagery in it. i think kiibo was also a fresh character in the danganronpa lineup, it was interesting to see a hajime-naegi based character who ISN'T the protagonist, to really see what their behaviors are like on the outside. hes cute!! what can i say!!! hes cute. i love him.

i'm a sucker for their relationship too, if you ignore the weird oversexualization of the two of them- something i feel like comes with the territory of speaking about danganronpa in general. something that stuck with me for a long time is that kiibo was the only one genuinely genuinely heart broken over mius death. the rest were angry of course, but miu was still generally an "unlikeable" character by most. she parallels ouma in this way- both of them being the unlikeable ones. foul mouthed, hypersexual, uncomfortable to be around for too long, cruel. but kiibo genuinely liked her. like for real. i find the idea of them finding comfort between eachother, creator and creation, really sweet. it reminds me a lot about the types of dynamics used when attempting to explore and find comfort in the victimization and villianizations you've experienced in your life with your partner, playing out the roles that society has forced on you and taking back power that way. i love them. definitely some of my favorites
