Hi I'm insane and I think I talked about this once in the past but today I'm going insane once again
The relationship of 2wink with math
Now, for this explanation I'll take notes from 3-4 main things. I'm sure there are many more references but this is what I could quickly grab from the top of my head.
Yes, 2wink is constantly being related to math, starting with their unit name, it's the only unit that has a number in it, even looking at their brand, we see constant triangle shapes that help support this idea.
Now, I believe the reason is clear looking at it in a geometrical (?) way. even in a trigonometrical way if you want to get fancy. 2wink's concept revolves around the fact that they're twins, they're two people who mirror each other. They're symmetrical.
The first clue that we get comes from a very old song actually. Heart Prism Symmetry, just look at the lyrics for a second

It's a song that clearly talks about them mirroring each other, since as we know, an important part of their lore has to do with how they're so identical not even their father can distinguish them.
Speaking of, we hear Hinata's demons in a part of the song (cough, go read setsubun)

Now, is their symmetry something natural? How is it represented, what is this telling us? I think Heart Prism Symmetry is a song in which they're loving and honoring their pasts being a two in one package for such a long time. This doesn't mean they're trying to be symmetrical on purpose though, they know already that the symmetry will break one day.

(again I'm sure these are Hina's demons, someone give him a hug)
Now this also has to do with the triangle part that I mentioned before, there are many different symmetrical shapes but the fact that they chose triangles is fascinating to me. Triangles are the most basic shape, since you need at least 3 sides to create a shape (less than that is just a line). But triangles are so interesting because of that flex (?), they present themselves in many ways and even inside other shapes. You can fit a triangle in any shape, even a circle can fit triangles since at the end of the day, a circle is just a 360° rotation.

They chose the most powerful shape and I'm obsessed with that concept.
But now, In which other ways is math involved? This is where I enter !! era, which is the point of the story in which 2wink are trying to discover more about themselves and we reach Twin Peaks.
Twin Peaks is Hinata's first focus event and it's full of math, starting from the title of the chapters

Factorization and division by zero.
Now, if you actually want to relate those concepts to Hinata as a person, it gets a little bit depressing because, well, division by zero,,, no matter how big your numbers are, (CORRECTION) you'll end up in an undefined result.
But this has symbolism once again ! I don't remember the story exactly but there's a story where Yuta is referring as them as math concepts and he refers to Hinata as a symbol. Now the thing is both Hinata and Yuta have opposite beliefs of themselves, so both of them say the other is a positive or a negative while they're a negative or a positive.
I've always thought about how Yuta may feel that Hinata is stealing a bit from him and perhaps that's why he thinks Hinata substracts, but at the same time, Hinata has done so much for both of them so of course he adds too.
Now since this can be a little confusing, let's stick with the factorization and division by zero concept, since that's how Hinata perceives himself I believe? I think factorization is a clear concept for how Hinata kinda gatekeeps himself and his brother and. everything. in general? And oh well, we know the guy is depressed as hell.
Now this makes me move to the important part of the story which is the second event. Yes. What we all waited for and screamed our lungs out when we saw: Yuta growing his hair and separating himself from Hinata.
If an equilateral triangle is symmetrical, what happens when one side is larger that the other? Is it equilateral still? No. But is it still a triangle? Yes
In the swee2wink album, we got a song called Polyphonic World in the B side, and the lyrics are fascinating let me tell you

1 + 2 = 3, which can be a triangle or as they say, a volume too (³), so the world is created with 3.
But I want to point out this part because I find it EXTREMELY important for the lore:

"our hearts want to create new shapes" "make new shapes that will change our hearts". HELLO. They used to be symmetrical prisms but as soon as Yuta changed his appearance, they decide to create a new shape that looks more similar to their hearts. They are the shapes. 2wink refer to themselves as shapes, they are the triangle

This is where the third side starts making sense too. 2 + 1 = Yuta and Hinata + a third member, "you" (me, they're talking about me, cough)
So knowing this makes much more sense in the way they refer to themselves and helps us understand them better.
Now my point, the new song is called Love×me⇄monsteR and according to my investigation, the ⇄ symbol is used for a lot of things but one of the meanings is exchange. Let's remember that an important part of the lore has to do with them being feared and seen as monsters, so Yuta is swapping that idea. He's swapping the negativity of the monster concept for love.
We're returning to what Twin Peaks tried to tell us. Hinata is (was, remember, development) seen as a division by zero and now Yuta is a multiplication of love times himself, he's GROWING. damn I love acceptance arcs.
Anyway, I wholeheartedly believe they're becoming something more positive given that the new logo is literally 2×2. Happiness for them.
Now as a little note to close the speech, Polyphonic World also talks about colors:

"we can make a new color that will change our hearts" and remember, they're changing their signature colors in this event as a new beginning!

So that's everything! I hope you find this interesting ! It's a little thing that I've been noticing for the longest time and I thought today was the perfect day to get it out.
#me using the new colors for the title#I'm ok#enstars#ensemble stars#yuta aoi#yuuta aoi#hinata aoi#2wink#❝ ritz.rambles !!

This didn't end well...
Ensign Eoura Telon ran both the students and the teachers out of the cargo hall. What were they thinking, teaching ALIENS math and sciences here? Certainly that couldn't be what the governor had had in mind for the evening school!
IT-08 was scared like never before in its existence...
...and then the little droid got lined up with its face to a wall together with the alien students for an identity check.
That was pretty cool, Eightball thought, it scared the shit out of the bipeds in addition to feeling humiliated. Eightball therefore decided to use the technique on the next prisoner it was to interrogate.
Euora didn't apprecciate the droid's newfound confidence.
It-08 in turn didn't take kindly to getting treated like a miscreant or spy. It rammed into the officer, spikes and all!
At this point the students were more confused than they had been by trigonometrics earlier in class.
No one said a word, in fact, everyone was keeping even their breath as low as possible. Granted, nobody was trying to arrest them anymore, but this encounter would have an aftermath, that much was certain.
Only It-08 was bobbing up and down rather pleased with itself.

If I wasn’t knee deep in Calculus and Electrochemistry (which suck btw) I would like to spend some time explaining stranger tes concepts like Kalpas and CHIM
#I've seen a few people talk about how it's confusing and they'd like to get into it#But teslore is pretty inaccessible from the get go#Since it's on my mind it's like trying to jump into trigonometric identities when you don't even know what the sin button is#someday I can make my dream come true (probably like mid-june when everything is wrapping up)

hq boys as wholesome boy things
note: inspired yet again by @seijch, we’re each other’s ghost writers (though i’m still not sure if i’m using that term correctly). anyways! spawned after i was pleading eye emoji over school memories; all of the below have happened to me or my friends at least once (guess which ones are personal experiences LOL).
the sequel: here
feat. hinata, bokuto, terushima, kuroo, suna, futakuchi, osamu
hinata → walks from class to class with you to finish your conversation even though his class is the opposite direction from yours. the first time he does it you honestly thought his classroom was right next door, up until you reach the door of your class and hinata takes one look at the clock and says a cheerful “bye! talk to you later!” and just bolts to the third floor. you feel kind of bad, honestly, but when you tried to make a stop at the staircase one day he says, “it’s okay, i like talking to you!” and honestly who could argue against that :') a sweetie through and through <3
bokuto → asks to try your eyelash curler when he sees you fixing up makeup during free period. he looks so genuinely curious you can’t help but say yes, but, knowing him bokuto probably goes in for the kill and gets his eyelid caught in the curler despite your warnings. it’s one of those eyelash curlers that open when you press down too, so bokuto is just...very panicked and confused 💔
you: let go!!
him, wailing: I CAN’T!!!!!
yes you can babe, just press down again 💔 i promise it’ll get better soon just squeeze the curler it’ll come right off 💔
terushima → looks at your scented hand lotion longingly until you notice and offer him some. immediately says yes, probably uses more than he needs just to get the maximum fragrance, but honestly he looks so happy after he's done putting it on you just...let him. now he just walks into class and looks at you all wide-eyed and expectant and lets out the happiest cheer when you toss him your hand lotion. it's a early morning ritual—you buy the bulk pack of hand lotion now.
kuroo → you're in one of those period filler classes and he lets you paint his nails with highlighter when you're both bored. when you use certain colors and you wipe them off after class they still kind of stain but he wears them with pride, our masculinity king. in like a week you look at him with your collection of mildliners and he just sighs and sticks his hand out. thanks for being the ultimate trooper tetsu, we all love you <3 he still won’t let you do french tips with white out, but it’s currently a work in progress.
suna → daps you up whenever he sees you in the halls. y’all are in-class buddies cause one time he was tired from practice the night before for nationals and pokes you with the back of his pencil, does the “psst psst nudge nudge can i copy” and you’re like “yeah sure go wild” and slide your paper over to his side of the desk. forever indebted to you, truly. there’s an unwritten rule you have where if one of you sleeps in class, the other one stays awake and takes notes to give to them after class. so far the two of you have a pretty even score of sleepyhead vs. notetaker. the twins are jealous cause they don’t have you as their in-class buddy; suna likes to rub it in their faces.
futakuchi → another in-class buddy, the chaotic variant. he originally sat behind you and y’all just would not stop talking so the teacher had to move you away from each other. now, you pass notes like you’re spies during the cold war. except, not really. at this point the teacher has probably given up because kenji is literally flying paper airplanes at the back of your head with notes on it 😭
you: what did you get for number 7
kenji: figure it out yourself dumbass
you: bitch nvm i bet you’re not even on it yet
you were right, he just finished writing his name on the top line, had to rewrite the date a few times because he got the new year wrong again even though it’s literally june. doesn’t stop him from making the most offended face when he reads your note though 💔 it’s okay kenji we’ve all been there 💔 comedic duo of the entire year to be quite honest.
osamu → brings an entire four course meal during math class and shares it with you--not really of course, but he brings so many snacks it might as well be. mealtimes with osamu is the only getting you through trigonometric identities at this point. he literally has everything, sometimes takes requests on what you’d like that day but for the most part you like to be surprised on what he brings! although every time you eat it’s like those silent eating challenges because you’re technically “not allowed” to eat in class but. nothing can stop your hunger, everything can be a comfort food if the math is distressing enough. literally in the middle of the lecture it’s just:
the teacher: why are you eating again you literally just had lunch
you and osamu, snacks piled up on your desk: yeah, and??
😭😭😭😭

Statistiquean and Trigonométriquean ⛲⛲-🌼🌼-⛲⛲-🌼🌼-⛲⛲
1. Statistiquean - a gender that is incredibly complex, hard to define, and very subjective. It may have a large connection to or influenced by mathematics, statistics, and collecting data. It can be considered an arithmagender and can also be considered a gender that is ineffable, like variables in statistics.
2. Trigonométriquean - a gender that is complex, has many steps/parts, and very defined. It may have a large connection to or influenced by mathematics, trigonometry, and trigonometric identities. It can be considered an arithmagender and can also be considered a gender that is hard to understand, though not impossible, like trigonometry and it being notoriously confusing to remember.
Etymologies: French, “statisque” and “trigonométrique” meaning "statistics” and “trigonometric”

Into Your Arms
Overview: You’re prone to tripping and Todoroki is prone to being there to catch you. Or, in which you’re a bit of a klutz and, for a reason he can’t explain, Todoroki wants to make sure you never get hurt.
Pairing: Todoroki Shouto x Female!Reader
Word Count: 2,670
Warning(s): None! Just fluff overload.
Author’s Note: This is for all my fellow clumsy folks. (Join the club!) :P Hope you enjoy!
Over the course of the school year, Todoroki had progressively grown accustomed to your clumsiness.
The first time he noticed you was on the first day of class during Aizawa’s Quirk Apprehension Test. Like most of your other classmates, you flew through the series of physical tests with graceful ease, demonstrating impressive control over your quirk. During your battle against Jiro and Kaminari, Todoroki begrudgingly had to admit your tactful skills were something to take note of as well.
Which is why it was only natural for him to wonder how someone so talented on the field could trip over a flat surface the moment they entered a room.
He considered it a skill in and of itself.
Within the first few weeks of class, Todoroki developed a sort of sixth sense whenever he was around you.
He noticed the way you put all your focus on the person you were talking to even while walking in crowded area, never realizing you were less than an inch away from crashing the side of your hip onto the corner of a desk. (Todoroki found himself moving the desk out of your path seconds before you could hit it, despite the fact that he had to make his way from the opposite side the room in superhuman speeds. You never seemed to notice. The rest of the class did.)
He also observed the way your eyes widened a fraction and your arms flailed out as you felt yourself about to trip. (In those moments, it took all of his willpower not to use his quirk to freeze you in place before you could fall. The one time he did, Tokoyami thought Todoroki almost hurt you and proceeded to threaten Shouto in your honor.)
One day, you and Todoroki arrived at U.A. around the same time--both uncharacteristically later than the rest of your classmates--and proceeded to walk to homeroom together.
“Morning, Todoroki-kun!”
“Good morning.”
“You’re running late today, too, huh?” you asked, matching his step as the two of you paced down the hallway. “Busy morning?”
Todoroki thought of the argument with his father that went on for longer than usual. “You could say that.”
You nodded. “At least we’ll still be earlier than Aizawa-sensei.”
The conversation carried on as you moved to the topic of breakfast foods--you talked so fervently about the arbitrary topic even Todoroki found it hard not to share your interest.
By the time the two of you walked into class, you were still in a heated debate about natto (he thought it was something every breakfast should consist of and you decided he must’ve been deprived of some good tamagoyaki) when Todoroki felt you beginning to walk wayward into Aoyama’s desk.
He didn’t want you to bump into it, but kicking the desk backwards with Aoyama seated on it didn’t seem like an action he’d think you’d approve of.
So instead, he maneuvered you aside-- One hand resting on your hip, pulling you towards him and away from the desk, and the other gently on your shoulder, steering your path straight. Todoroki made sure to not let himself linger, but it was too late. The rest of the class noticed and all conversation stopped to stare at you two.
“Careful,” he said, his face skillfully passive.
You blinked in stunned silence. “T-Thanks! I guess I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking.”
“It’s okay.”
He wanted to say something else, but he didn’t have the words.
Instead, you both headed to your respective seats as Todoroki tried to ignore Kirishima’s so-called whispering as he walked down the row.
“Pst, Todoroki! You and Y/L/N, huh?”
And while he was able to ignore Kirishima’s antics, Todoroki wasn’t able to ignore the small, yet embarrassed, smile that made its way to your face.
He couldn’t help but smile back.

After the events of these past few months with villains at every turn of the page, you were happy that an exam has been the only thing keeping you and your classmates up at night lately.
It was a late Sunday night and you were at Midoriya’s dormitory with a group of friends, studying for your mathematics exam the next day. Tsuyu and Iida brought a handful of snacks to share with the group, but even they weren’t enough to keep your brain from going off topic every few minutes.
“So, we use the Law of Sines when we know two angles and one side of a triangle, or when it’s SSA?” you said as you tapped your pencil against your notebook, staring down at your notes.
“Precisely,” replied Iida with a nod.
He’d been patiently helping you with the same concept for the past twenty minutes, but you just now began to understand it.
“And SSS and SAS is for Cosine Rule?”
“Correct again!” He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and beamed. “Great, now that everyone understands those rules, shall we move forward to trigonometric identities?”
This earned a groan from you and Uraraka.
“Wait,” you cried as you rose from the floor. “My brain isn't awake enough for this-- I’m going to make myself a cup of coffee first. Does anyone else want one?”
“I’m good, thank you!” said Midoriya.
“Coffee? It’s almost midnight,” Iida exclaimed, a bewildered look on his face.
“But we’re only halfway done with the material! I need to stay awake.”
You returned his stern look with one of your own. He sighed. “Fine. I suppose we could use a study break while you get your dose of caffeine.”
Smiling, you sent him a thumbs up before heading to the door. As you reached the handle, you paused.
“Todoroki-chan, do you want coffee? Or maybe tea?” you asked, looking down as he sat cross-legged on the mat.
He glanced up, with a tilt of his head. “Thank you, but I’m okay. Would you like me to accompany you, though?”
You laughed but shook your head. “It’s only one floor down; I should be fine.”
“The last time you said that, you had to go to Recovery Girl for a rolled ankle.”
“I’ll be careful this time!” you promised, letting the door shut behind you before he could get out another word.
It was sweet of Todoroki to be worried for you, but you were perfectly capable of making coffee by yourself--no matter how accident prone you may be.
After waiting for the coffee to brew (all the while thinking of how convenient making udon and miso would be if you had Bakugou or Todoroki’s quirk), you grabbed your mug from the communal kitchen space and poured. When you dumped the contents out of the coffeemaker, you placed your mug at the edge of the counter and grabbed the cream and sugar.
You needed at least one and a half spoonfuls of sugar in order for your coffee to be palatable.
But while you were humming to yourself, things took a quick turn for the worst.
As you were reaching for the creamer behind your coffee, you felt your elbow brush against the handle of your mug. You held your breath. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. With eyes wide, you attempted to catch it before it hit the ground.
The good news, you caught it before the mug shattered.
The bad news, all its steaming hot contents poured onto the hand you caught it with.
“Shit!” you yelped, dropping the mug in shock as you cradled your right hand against your chest.
Swearing under your breath, you ran over to the sink and held your pink-tinged hand under cold water to soothe the burn. You wanted to stay under the faucet forever, but you knew your friends were waiting for you to continue studying.
Sighing, you cleaned up your mess and quickly headed up to Midoriya’s room, coffee-less and with a discomforting burning sensation in your right hand.
When you entered the room, Tsuyu was the first to remark, followed by Todoroki.
“Did you forget your coffee?”
“What happened to your hand?”
You blinked. How did he notice so quickly?
“I didn’t forget my coffee, no,” you told Tsuyu with a nervous chuckle. “I finished making it, actually. But then it fell off the counter and I burned myself trying to catch it.”
Tsuyu’s eyes widened but you quickly amended your statement, shaking your head as sat back down next to Todoroki.
“I’m fine, though!” you said, holding out your pinky in her direction. “It’s just a little burn; it’ll probably be gone by tomorrow.”
Satisfied with, but still skeptical of, your answer, Tsuyu nodded and proceeded to ask Uraraka how to do a certain question.
“Can I see it?”
You jumped. His voice was so quiet you barely heard him.
Turning to Todoroki, you offered him your hand with your reddened palm face down. “It hardly hurts, I swear. You don’t need to--”
He enveloped your right hand between the two of his and brought it to his close to his chest.
You flushed. The conversation in the room stopped. Todoroki kept his gaze on you.
“Wh-What are you--!?” You broke off with a startled breath when you felt a soothing chill followed by a comforting heat. “Oh.”
The careful balance of hot and cold on your slightly burned hand felt so relaxing your eyes fluttered shut, hardly registering the looks of bewilderment from Midoriya, Iida, Tsuyu, Aoyama, and Uraraka. Minutes passed and Todoroki still held you hand, only releasing after a long, cool exhale.
You swallowed.
“Does your hand feel better?” he asked.
Nodding fervently, you tried not to think about how you wished he hadn’t let go. “Much.”
“I’m glad.” Without warning, Todoroki stood up from beside you and you felt the absence of his warmth. “Now, wait here.”
As he left Midoriya’s room, you glanced at the others with the same confused look on your faces.
“What was that about?” Izuku wondered with a scratch of his head.
“I don’t know, but it sure was adorable!” said Uraraka, squishing her face between her palms.
Iida stared at the door then back down at his textbook. “But where did Todoroki-kun go? Hopefully he doesn’t take too long; we still have a whole chapter to cover.”
Aoyama sighed, resting his arms behind his neck as he leaned against Midoriya’s bed frame. “Don’t be oblivious, mes amis. He’s getting Mademoiselle Y/L/N her beverage, of course.”
Before you could deny that outrageous claim, Todoroki walked into the room with a mug in hand.
You gaped. Aoyama sent you a smug wink.
Todoroki sat back down beside you before offering the drink. With your non-burned hand, you graciously held the mug. It was lukewarm to the touch and aromatic to the smell.
“For me?”
He nodded. “Two pumps of cream and one and a half teaspoons of sugar, right?”
You blinked. He knew how you took your coffee? “Right.”
“I wasn’t sure if you drank dark or light roast,” said Todoroki, looking down at the wooden floor. “My apologies. But I made sure to cool it down to about 120 degrees so it can’t scald you.”
You heard the pounding of your heart from your ears as your stomach filled with butterflies. What was this feeling? You shook your head.
“Thank you, Todoroki-chan,” you said, touched. “It’s perfect.”
“But you haven’t even tried it--”
Uraraka flicked Iida on the back of the head before he could continue.
“Hey! I mean-- You’re right. It is perfect.”
Laughing at your friends antics, you turned to Todoroki with a smile. He had a content look on his face as he witnessed their interaction before glancing at you. You took a sip of the drink and peered at him from the top of the rim. The contrast of the sweet and the bitter, earthy taste filled your tastebuds, causing you to sigh.
“Tastes better than the ones I make for myself!” you pouted, wondering how he was able to make a perfect cup when he never drank coffee himself. “You’re just the perfect guy, aren’t you?”
A flush made its way to Todoroki’s ears, but you paid it no mind, instead grabbing your pencil with your right hand.
“Ouch,” you hissed, retracting your pencil and glaring down at the angry pale marks on your still reddened palm. Maybe you should get an ice pack and some painkillers.
“Y/N? Are you hurt?” said Todoroki, a frown clouding his face.
You shook your head. “Just my hand from earlier.”
“Is it still hurting?” He gently took your right hand in his left, worried lines between his eyebrows. “Here-- Let me help.”
Before you could say anything, he laced his icy fingers between yours and sent a mild chill to his palm, instantly soothing the pestering burn from the earlier scald. This time, even after a few moments had passed, Todoroki didn’t let go.
Instead, he kept your hand in his for the remainder of the night, the occasional brush of his thumb sending shivers up your spine--and not from the cold.
Needless to say, neither of you could focus much on studying.
- - - - -
Tonight was the night of the school dance and, much to no one’s surprise, you were running late.
When you arrived, the dance was in full swing, with all the classes mingling together to celebrate the end of a school year. But in a sea of obscurity, a certain duochromatic student caught your eye from across the room.
As if Todoroki could sense your presence, his gaze found yours in an instant, raising a hand in greeting with a subtle smile.
Wow.
That was all you could think as you walked over to him, eyes never leaving his face.
He looked stunning.
So stunning, in fact, that you hardly noticed anything else. Including a wayward balloon that made its way to the side of the dance floor you were walking along.
You also didn’t notice that your heel caught on said balloon until it was too late.
With a small yelp, you felt yourself slip backward as the rubber rolled off your shoe, arms flying out in an attempt to grasp at the table next to you only to miss by a fraction of an inch.
Shit.
Closing your eyes shut, you braced yourself into a position that would soften the impact of the fall that never came. Instead, all you heard was a soft woosh of rustling clothes and an intake of breath as two muscular arms wrapped around you.
A beat passed.
You opened your eyes.
“Careful.” His voice was deep next to your ear.
“Shoucchan,” you said, a little out of breath. “Hi.”
You heard the amusement in his voice. “Hi.”
Todoroki helped you upright onto your feet, but kept his hands lingering on either sides of your waist. Spinning around to face him, you touched his cheek with a smile.
“How do you always do that?”
He raised a brow.
“How do you manage to cross the room and stop me from falling in such a short amount of time?” you wondered with a hint of awe. “Do you have another quirk no one knows about?”
Todoroki exhaled a laugh as he tugged on a strand of your hair. “Baka. No. I just learned to be on high alert when I’m with you. Especially when you’re in heels.”
You stuck your tongue out at him, but couldn’t deny anything.
“Maybe that’ll be part of your tagline in a few years,” you teased. “Pro Hero Shouto: Saving the world from villains, and saving his girlfriend from her own clumsiness.”
Todoroki froze slightly before relaxing, the corners of his lips tilting upward. “Girlfriend.” You quirked a brow at him but he shook his head. “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing that.”
“Good. Because I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of being that.”
Pressing a chaste kiss on your forehead, Todoroki hummed. “Good. Then you have nothing to worry about.

Trig
Algebra: Okay so there are three trigonometric functions/operations, they work like this on a triangle, and you can use these various things called “identities” to work with them!
Students: Alright! This isn’t too bad!
Trigonometry: Hey, actually, uh... we also observe and work with the reciprocals of those functions, which also have their own identities.... also there’s this thing called the “unit circle”; memorize all of it.
Students: Well... it’s all still pretty easy to understand, so...
Trigonometry: Oh also we work with the inverses of each of those functions. And writing them either takes too long or makes notation confusing! You won’t be working with them too much for now, but have fun!
Students: Okaaaaay........... uh-
Calculus: Heeeeeeey. Y’know those fun derivatives you’ve been working with nonstop? The basic trig functions also have ‘em! :)
Students: ...
Calculus: And so do their reciprocals! :))))
Students: ...
Calculus: And all six of them have those integral things! :))))))
Students: ...
Calculus: Remember those inverses you went over earlier? They all have derivatives and integrals as well!! :)))))))))))

Antidifferentiation
To open up my first quarter, we have a topic that comprised a bulk of Mathematics 5, except this time, it's the reverse. That's what I thought of antidifferentiation at first. Without the cheat sheet, I found solving polynomials to be simple since it was just working backwards from how you would solve derivatives. However, when it came to equations with trigonometric identities and chain rule applications, it became way too tedious and complicated. Harley managed to solve it. What even goes on inside that man's head? How does he pick up on math so easily?
Anyways, the 50+ students jampacked in my classroom, including me, were never meant to interpret the topic like that, which is why Sir Jed gave us a cheat sheet containing all the basic applications of antidifferentiation, including trigonometric identities and logarithmic functions. With enough practice exercises, I was able to solve for the integrals with accuracy and precision. However, hopefully they don't make us memorize any of these, because there is no way I am going to be able to internalize all the different equations for antidifferentiation without the cheat sheet. This is especially true for the trigonometric identities. I am worried that I might confuse them with the ones on derivatives once I start solving on the long tests.
All in all, while there might be some hiccups along the way, I am glad we are opening up my Mathematics 6 journey with an appetizer. I consider it a success when I leave the classroom with at least some sort of takeaway from the lesson, and I was not leaving my classes confused so far. With that being said, that cheat sheet is going to be behind lock and key from now on. Losing that probably means losing my math grade too, and we can't open up the academic year like that.

Gods, all this.
Lemme dust off those skills.
Yes, you do really want to get a good night’s rest beforehand. That’s truthfully more important than a last-minute cram session.
And eat a decent breakfast. Not a big breakfast, but something. Specifically something with some protein and not too greasy. You want a good energy curve and to not need to use the bathroom. I preferred two poached eggs and a slice of toast, but YMMV. Basically think like you’re going to be competing in an athletic event, because your needs are a lot closer than you imagine.
Depending on the subject, you might want to take a few minutes to write out relevant stuff you’ll need on the scratch paper they provide, even if you think you’ve got it down pat: trigonometric identities, redox equations, organic molecules, cranial nerves, whatever. It’ll save you time and confusion later. And yes, plan ahead and know what you want before the test.
Use any breaks they give you, no matter what. Get up and walk around. Use the bathroom, even if you don’t think you need it. Have some water (but not too much, of course).
If the test is more than a couple hours, bring a granola bar or something. Your goal is to keep your energy up; tests are not the time to be nodding off.
Dress in light layers. For some reason test rooms can be saunas, and that means naptime. Be able to easily and conveniently cool off so that doesn’t happen to you. You’d rather be a little cold than too hot.
Make sure you check the Front and Back of every test sheet. Don’t trust they’ll always say “over” or whatever.
If you have time, go back and check any calculations you make. Look for off-by-one errors, misplaced decimal points, forgetting a negative, or copying errors. But...
Do not second-guess yourself. If you’re not sure, the vast majority of the time your first guess was the right one.
Do not angst about it if you turn your test in way before everyone else. That just means you had the material down pat.
Do not angst about it if you’re still working and everyone else seems to be done; that just means you’re being thorough.
In fact, try to ignore what everyone else is doing. Standardized tests are like prison: everyone does their own time.
Every single time I say the phrase “I was classically trained in the art of multiple choice tests” everyone in the room who’s not a millennial laughs at my joke while all the other millennials in the room immediately look like they just walked in on a funeral by accident.

Hi Maggie! Do you have any tips on how to integrate with fractions, kinda struggling at the moment :/
Hello :) I can try to help!!
When you are trying to find the integral of a fraction where the differential (or multiple of) of the denominator is present in the numerator. ie the integral of kf’(x)/f(x) then the integral is simply kln|f(x)| + c
Sometimes though, integrals of fractions aren’t as simple as this and you might have top heavy fractions etc to deal with. There are many options here - you can use integration by substitution (if it so permits) or you can split the fraction into partial fractions to make it easier. Normally the exam question will let you know what is appropriate however if it doesn’t then look out for things like whether it is sensible to use a trigonometric/u substitution.
Trigonometic substitutions can be spotted by using trig identities such as sin^2x + cos^2x = 1 or cosh^2x - sinh^2x = 1. If you spot something like x^2 - 1 in the fraction you might consider using the substitution x = coshx for example when looking at hyperbolic functions. (since cosh^2x - 1 = sinh^2x)
U substitutions are also very useful when integrating.
Partial fractions is a way to split up the fractions into much easier to deal with smaller parts. A lot of the time you’ll end up with fractions like 1/(x+2) which is easy to deal with as there’s a differential present on top.
However sometimes you may end up with things like 1/(2x+2)^2. In which case you must notice this is the same as the integral of (2x+2)^-2 and integrate accordingly remembering to divide by the differential of the things within the bracket too. Therefore the integral of this would be (2x+2)^-1/(-2) + c which is the same as -1/(4x+4) + c.
Hope this helps! I also get a bit confused when i see a tricky integral of a fraction but go through all the different methods of integration and think about which one would be most appropriate :)

Simplify $\tan^{-1} ( \frac{x-\sqrt{1-x^2}}{x+\sqrt{1-x^2}} )$ with trigonometric substitution https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
I will explain my approach, help me with the last step please! $$ \tan^{-1} {\left(\frac {x - \sqrt {1-x^2}}{x + \sqrt {1-x^2}}\right)}$$
substituting x = $\sin \theta$ (as learnt from book) and solving 1-$\sin^2 \theta$ = $\cos^2 \theta$ $$ \tan^{-1} {\left(\frac {\sin \theta - |\cos \theta|}{\sin \theta + |\cos \theta| }\right)}$$
For solving modulus, it was important to determine range of $\theta$ , therefore I defined it (as it is my variable,i can define it my way) for [-$\pi$/2 , $\pi$/2] so that sine covers all values from $-1$ to $1$ (as , $ -1 \le x \le 1 \,$ , from domain ) and $\cos \theta$ is positive , and hence $|\cos \theta| = \cos \theta$.
$$ \tan^{-1} {\left(\frac {\sin \theta - \cos \theta}{\sin \theta + \cos \theta }\right)}$$ = dividing by $\cos \theta$ $$ \tan^{-1} {\left(\frac {\tan \theta - 1}{\tan\theta + 1 }\right)}$$
= by formula of $\tan (\theta - \pi/4)$ $$ \tan^{-1}( \tan{\left(\theta - \pi/4\right)})$$
That's where I am stuck ,as according to the identity,$\quad$ $tan^{-1} ( \tan \alpha) = \alpha$ $\quad$ only when $\, -\pi/2 <\alpha < \pi/2$ . But here $$ -3\pi/4 \le \,(\theta-\pi/4) \, \le \pi/4 $$ Therefore, I am not going to get ($ \,\theta - \pi/4 $) out of the expression. What i get will be based on that graph of $\bf {\tan^{-1} (\tan x)}$ . $$ (\theta - \pi/4) +\pi \,$$ for $\,-3\pi/4 \le \, (\theta -\pi/4) \, < -\pi/2 \,\,$ and
$$\theta -\pi/4$$ for $\,-\pi/2 < \, (\theta -\pi/4) \, \le \pi/4 \,\,$
My teacher just cancelled arctan and tan and wrote $\theta - \pi/4$ and he didn't even include that modulus function over $\cos \theta$.
So what will be the exact answer because if everyone decide $\theta$ as per they like then there will not be a finite answer. Everyone will have their own answers and in each answer they have multiple cases as I just discussed above.
So please help me, very hopefully I signed up in stackexchange!
Found Solution :-
I was confused because I was thinking that there can be many solutions differing person to person, but even if you choose any value of $\theta$ , you are going to get two solutions which are in the asked question above. The problem resolves when we write $\theta$ in terms of $sin^{-1} x$ as then we would not simply write like $$ \theta = \sin^{-1} x $$ we would write an equation,$$ \sin^{-1} x = \sin^{-1} (\sin \theta)$$, now if $\theta$ is not in range of $-\pi/2$ and $\,\pi/2$ , then there would be some constant in $\pi$ (like , $\pi/4 , 2\pi$ etc. we would have to add or subtract according to the graph of 'sin inverse sin' and when we would put that value of $\theta$ , we would end with the solutions as answered by people. (I write the answer in this edit to help anyone who will reach here after searching web , thanks to everyone for answers)

A Personal Response to the Current High-School Mathematics Curriculum in Newfoundland and Labrador. From the perspective of a Level II student having just completed Math 3200
By Cassandra Clowe-Coish [Editor’s note: I wrote this letter around the time Dwight Ball introduced his Education task force in February 2017 I sent it in, and the only correspondence I received was to get my permission to be acknowledged on the task force report. This is the unmodified letter.]
It is my belief that mathematics, in all its beauty, utility, and efficacy in describing the world around us, should be accessible to all. No shortcut should be taken with the goal of teaching mathematics faster, and facts should not be obscured to avoid perceived complexity. When you teach students what to think, and not how to think, mathematics becomes cryptic, and certain topics appear to be discrete when in fact they are interwoven. Facts and formulas become meaningless to students when they are not told why they are true or why they are effective. Presenting new topics without proof or derivation inhibits students from making logical connections between what they know already and what they strive to learn. I think that explaining mathematical concepts in terms of their fundamental properties encourages students to think logically about problems rather than try to memorise that which is being presented to them in the form of formulas and laws. This is why I think that a curriculum involving proofs and derivation of fact would be beneficial to students. Immediate advantages of a curriculum including proofs and derivation of fact Proofs and derivation show a connection from what is already known to new information. Instead of jumping straight into new information, students would be shown how their current knowledge applies to the new information. I found this type of thinking especially helpful when learning the laws of logarithms.
For example, one of the laws of logarithms is that logbxp = p(logbx)
When this was first taught to me, I could not understand why it was true. I must stress, this rule was presented without any proof or explanation. After thinking about it for a while, searching the Internet, and trying to work out why it was true, I realised that it was related to another law of logarithms, which I already understood: logb(xy) = logbx + logby (The equation is true because it relates to the additive property of the exponents of terms of the same base when said terms are multiplied together) Thinking in terms of the law that I already understood, I came up with this short “proof”:
logbxp=logb(xx...x)=(logbx+logbx+...+logbx) ↖ p times ↗
Because xp is just x multiplied by itself p times, the law logb(xy) = logbx + logby applies to produce p(logbx), because the argument for each term is the same.
logbxp=p(logbx)
I am not suggesting that my exact method of thinking should be taught, I simply mean to show how applying what I already knew and understood helped me to comprehend something that confused me at first. I believe that this method of teaching could be beneficial to other students as well, if it were used in the classroom. This could effectively be done by providing proofs of concepts along with the concepts themselves in the curriculum, not necessarily as an outcome, but as a learning aid to be included in the books of notes and to be explained in class. A mathematical proof can be the bridge between obscurity and clarity. To show that something is true is to break down the concept and build it up again starting with what the student already understands to be true, and showing how new concepts are similar to old ones eliminates unnecessary obscurity in learning mathematics. It is much easier to understand something new when one realises that it is just something old in disguise.
I would like to emphasise that examples do not equal proof, the curriculum currently employs many examples of concepts for practice purposes, which is not a bad thing. However, showing that something works for particular cases, no matter how many, is not the same as showing that it works all the time because of a particular reason. And while I think that most students, including myself, take math teachers’ word for it when they tell us something is true, I also think that presenting concepts without explaining them deprives students of fundamental information about the concepts that could lead to a better understanding of them and to building a stronger foundation for comprehending subsequent math courses and subjects, such as calculus, in the future. If the basics for tackling the next challenge are intuitive to the learner, the learner will be faced with fewer challenges when learning new things rooted in the understanding of said basics.
Long-term advantages of a curriculum including proofs and derivation of fact
The advanced mathematics curriculum generally feeds into further, post-secondary math and science education and careers. For the portion of students wishing to pursue further education and careers in branches of Discrete Mathematics, I feel that familiarisation with logical thinking and proofs is especially important. This type of mathematics deals heavily with logical analysis of arguments, and therefore proofs themselves. It is sensible to infer that introducing such students to proofs early on, i.e. in high school, can only be beneficial to them. I believe it would also be beneficial to those attempting to establish their own ideas in the fields of mathematics. In order to establish one’s idea as fact, one has to prove that it is true. Again, it sensibly follows that early familiarisation with this type of logical thinking can only be beneficial in developing students’ own logical thinking skills. So, in conclusion, I think that the addition of proofs and derivations of mathematical formulas, processes, and laws to the curriculum would be an extraordinary asset. It is a small addition, each proof would likely take no more than a page in a set of notes and an in-class discussion of about five minutes. I also believe that the addition of inductive and deductive reasoning, as is present in the 2201 curriculum, to the 2200 curriculum could be beneficial. This subject familiarises students with the process behind extrapolating ideas based on what they already know and coming to logical conclusions based on given data. It would thus be advantageous for many of the reasons that providing proofs of existing concepts would be, with the addition of having its own dedicated instruction time. Consider this, for the students’ understanding of mathematics should be the main goal of a mathematics curriculum.
Concepts in Math 3200 that I think inclusion of proof or derivation could be helpful include, but are not limited to:
-Trigonometric identity equations
-Compound interest equation
-Logarithm laws
-Permutations and Combinatorics equations
Concepts in Math 2200 that I think inclusion of proof or derivation could be helpful include, but are not limited to:
Quadratic equation
Sine Law and Cosine Law (already included)
Sequences and Series equations

We have planned for these things well prior to and contend our cards near our chest
UP Election Results 2017: however the BJP attained a win which will amendment contours of national politics Long before the election campaign picked up steam, the BJP leadership was caught utterly off-guard by the infighting among the Mulayam Singh Yadav social unit. within the run-up to the elections, high drama in Lucknow at the start upset the BJP’s political calculations. within the battle of perceptions, Akhilesh Yadav looked as if it would have gained plenty with the assistance of the media. Through vigorous ad campaigns, new idioms and catch phrases, a halo of ‘victimhood’ was bestowed upon Akhilesh. What seemed to have discomposed BJP strategists is that the Samajwadi Party’s alliance with the Congress.
What seemed to have gotten the goat of BJP strategists was the realization through internal surveys that the alliance might are ready to influence ninety p.c of Muslim voters in its favor — given the actual fact that a small deviation in share points of voters would create a considerable amendment in terms of seats. Of course, the Samajwadi Party was seen sitting pretty with thirty p.c of the Muslim-Yadav (MY) combination. And there was a concern that if a vicinity of ancient Congress voters may transfer their votes to the Samajwadi Party, its kitty would go high.
Thus began the BJP’s counter moves that tested to be quite effectively in checkmating Samajwadi Party-Congress politics. BJP president Amit sovereign strategised a multi-pronged move to prop the BJP’s prospects. currently look into the facts that might seem to be a quite mere coincidence.
Representational image. AFPRepresentational image. AFP Take, for instance, the campaign within the media picked up that Mayawati had given largest share of tickets (97) to Muslims. Similarly, it had been not a coincidence that at the peak of Akhilesh’s substance blitz, an associate degree potent cluster of Muslim clerics came forward to support the BSP and Mayawati. They urged Muslims to vote for the BSP. For the primary time, Muslims as collective grouping found itself on tenterhooks relating to the choice of either the Samajwadi Party-Congress or the BSP.
As the campaign picked up momentum, this confusion was combined once the Akhilesh-Rahul alliance tested to be a non-starter on the bottom. as an example, the normal higher caste voters of the Congress deserted in favor of the BJP whereas the BJP launched a sustained campaign to co-opt most backward categories (MBCs) that type nearly thirty-six p.c of the state’s voters. In the western province, the party used soul anger to its advantage by toil in non-Jat backward castes to its fold.
Of course, the spectacular BJP conclusion in the province will solely be ascribed to micromanagement of the polling booths by the party equipment headed by the sovereign. like a shot when the Lok Sabha conclusion in 2014, sovereign much restructured the BJP organization that was quite discordant with the recent RSS-inspired sangathanist model. Leaders happiness to totally different castes were roped in to offer adequate weight in proportion to their population.
The manner within which sovereign restructured the organization — clearly with the approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — is believed to possess caused ill will among traditionalists among the BJP. however, the objection was unheeded with the assumption that the BJP’s social enlargement was trigonometric function qua nun for its organic growth. within the choice of candidates, this thought weighed heavily despite resistance by well-entrenched higher caste cadre.
At the identical time, micro-management at the booth level was simply extraordinary. All ancient and impregnable bastions of the Congress and Samajwadi Party were known and desecrated with very good coming up with that went all the way down to the minutest details. Rampur Khas, a standard seat of Congress strongman Pramod Tiwari in Pratapgarh, was known by the BJP to see mate its rivals. Tiwari wasn’t allowed to maneuver within the body and his influence was effectively neutral. equally, Ajay Rai’s seat at Pindra in Varanasi was targeted to neutralize the influence of the Congress.
In effect, a team of nearly 600 volunteers was created and deployed when each section of election to counter any decide to rig the polls or influence the voters. “We have planned for these things well prior to and contend our cards near our chest,” aforesaid a prime contriver of the BJP. Of course, amid all this coming up with, secrecy was the key word. from time to time there have been moments of unease once the party got inputs that it did not fare well within the 1st section of the polls.
However, the party recovered quick and deployed its best foot forward for consequent phases by inculcating a high dose of Hindutva undertones within the campaign and introducing the ‘KASAB’-Kabristan discussion. What seems to possess clinched the election in favor of the BJP was the tireless campaign by Modi World Health Organization slogged to check it through. in fact, the election end in the province is poised to alter the contours of the country’s political landscape because the BJP can emerge for the primary time in history as associate degree unsubduable political force across the country.
