Maren of Skelwick, Shetland Fairylore

In Shetland’s Skelwick, Maren spun flax so fine it rivaled spider silk , her wheel humming by the hearth on a stormy night She sang an old tune to ward off Trows gnarled fairy folk who envied human craft. But one Trow, Grimni from Houlland hill heard her song as a call.

Smitten he left a silver coin by her wheel, etched with runes. Then a pearl, shells that sang, and a whalebone comb. Maren kept them, whispering thanks. On the seventh night, Grimni rasped, “Ye’ve taken me gifts—ye’re mine.”

The floor split down, she went to his moss-lit hall. #Trows danced, crowning her with fishbone But Maren clutched a rusted nail, Trows hate iron. She tricked #Grimni to fetch water drove the nail into the wall, and climbed free as the hall crumbled.

A week had passed in a night. Her gifts turned to dust, but her wheel bore Trow scratches. She hung iron above her door ever after.

I love disappearing into the woods alone as much as any other man, but something about the idea of camping with another guy gets to me.

I’ll show you my favorite hiking trails. Yeah, this one’s a little steep. It gets pretty hot out here. We can go shirtless. There’s a lake up here, let me show you. Yeah, take the rest of your clothes off, I’ll rinse them out. We can go for a swim while they dry. Don’t worry, it’s just us out here.

This seems like a good spot. We can get the tent set up before sundown. Yeah, it’s not very big, but we’ll fit. I’m exhausted. We can make a little fire to heat up the food, have a few beers, and then hit the hay.

You forgot your sleeping bag? C’mon, squeeze in here with me. I don’t care if we don’t quite fit, we’ll keep each other warm. Get closer, I don’t want you getting cold. It’s alright if you get hard, I can help you out. Nobody will hear us out here.

first some possible fusion designs:

hmm only question is how would they come about... what was that? a fusion dance? never heard of such a concept.

and finally their alternate corrupted designs which i like calling grinning mantis and office chair with an attitude:

also connected to this, i thought of a fun episode concept:

a centipede type episode where stone gets released and partially uncorrupted, to try and question him about a)the [insert plot significant place he was found at while corrupted] and b) how come him and the red topaz were chill w each other when usually when two different corrupted gem types are around they're territorial, not collaborative

this, unfortunately for the crystal gems, leads nowhere. if nowhere is stone releasing eggman

funny fact: the entire episode stone continues to have his gem hand on his shoulder protectivelly, much like his fully corrupted self, but when reaching for robotnik's gem bubble he does so with both hands

anyway, when reformed the crystal gems note that the bixbite isnt attacking "hammerhead", if anything "hammerhead" is actually pointing it towards their hiding places and warning it against attacks

eggman gets poofed(again) and thats when stone starts to freak out back into full corruption(hands going back to his shoulders), fights the crystal gems and also gets poofed(again)

Day 16: knives + mind control

Characters: Charles Rowland, Edwin Payne

Content warnings: betrayal (sort of), mind control, mental confusion, knife violence, injury, iron burns

Now with a comic by technically-human!

"Charles look ou-" Edwin yells.

But it's too late, the unfamiliar spell hits him right in the face and ripples through him, locking each limb rigid, then releasing them one by one. Charles sways and shivers, then drops back into his ready stance. He draws his iron knife, then turns to Edwin.

"Are you alright?" Edwin asks quickly, glancing between Charles and the fairy. She's keeping her distance, but grimacing in concentration, her gaze locked on Charles.

Charles doesn't answer, but starts moving slowly toward Edwin. His expression is... strange. Not at all how he normally looks. Edwin frowns in confusion.

"Charles, what are you..." he begins, then trails off.

It occurs to him that perhaps the reason he has never seen this look of grim determination before is because whenever they are in danger Edwin freezes, and Charles plants himself squarely between Edwin and whatever means them harm. He faces it down, he does whatever is necessary to keep them safe.

It's... disconcerting, being on the receiving end of that expression, that wary advance. He ought to run, he supposes, but it's Charles. He does not know how to be afraid of Charles.

"What have you done to him?" He asks the fairy.

She glances at Edwin, fear and anger warring in her wide grey eyes, then whistles a rapid five-note trill.

"Oi!" Charles says, drawing Edwin's attention back. "She hasn't done anything to me. She's my best mate and I won't let you drag her back to Hell."

Ah.

Charles lunges at Edwin, slashing out at chest height with the iron knife. Edwin stumbles backward just in time, but the tip still catches his lapel, leaving a long scorchmark across it. It smarts, of course, but he has more pressing concerns.

His mind races, trying to remember how to draw someone out of magical confusion... and also trying to remember anything Charles had shown him over the years, about blocks and binds and generally avoiding being stabbed.

"Listen to me," he says, circling away from Charles while keeping the fairy in his line of sight. "You are under an enchantment. I do not mean you any harm. Please put the knife away."

Charles laughs, and it's an ugly, bitter thing.

"Nice try. Don't lie to me. I don't want to hurt you, but I will if you don't leave us alone."

He slashes as Edwin again, but this time Edwin puts out a hand and catches the blade through his palm. It blackens and smokes something awful, but at least he can wrench the knife out of Charles' grip.

"Right. That is quite enough of that," he says, turning to the fairy. "Kindly release my friend, and we shall leave you in peace."

"What the fuck are you?" She breathes.

Edwin sighs. "Not a threat to you. We apologise for trespassing."

She nods warily. With a whirl of her grey cloak, she disappears.

Charles shivers again. Then he sees his knife in Edwin's hand and loses his mind.

Hey folks!!! School's been stressin me out these few days (The dreaded approach of May isn't helping either lmao) so apologies for the occasional radio silence, but I'm cooking up some stuff!! New AU just for the funsies n all, might infodump once I got these two main designs done

As for animatics or videos, I do have tons of neglected WIPs...but nothing finished unfortunately, really gotta stop procrastinating my stuff these days shfbsbf. I've been doodling 99% of the time

Dunno how I'll manage time with exam preparations but I'll see what I can pump out for y'all!! Don't make promises as usual ofc since I ain't good at getting things done this year, plus I mostly post these thing for fun (and sometimes I forget to....mb folks my brain empty sometimes shfbdh)

Magnus loves the beach.
