The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature | Official Reveal Trailer
As usual, the Build/Buy content looks amazing AF, but I was hoping to see way more of the CAS stuff, the wings, the magic--you know, the FAIRIES?!
Y’all made us sit blue-balled thru this dry boring trailer for...meh. 🙄😒
These are the only wings I like. PLEASE tell me EA is finally gonna let us HIDE the wings when the fae is around normies?
Did her wings go away cuz that’s an actual ABILITY fae have, or was that just for the trailer cuz the girl was just dreaming? If yes, that’s AWESOME--same way I love how TS4′s vampires have a normie look AND a vamp look, the way werewolves do; it’s one of my fave thingf about TS4 occults; hiding in plain sight.
But why bother hiding, when the fashion is from the kiddie section at Halloween-R-Us?! The clothes are a hard NOPE for me--the dude looks the best of all, which is NEW for EA; I’m shook! 🫨

But you’d think after seeing what an epic fail the TS4 Plantsims are that EA’d do all out on making Fae really look more plant/bug-like: cool skintones & makeup/tattoos & antennae & leaves & petals & roots everywhere--real High Fantasy Nature Couture Realness.
This looks more like a Halloween costume. It’s just basic Prom dresses and a lazy AF top/skirt combo that pales in comparison to TS3′s counterparts--
--let alone the incredible CC the modding community’s been making for the past DECADE since this effing game came out. No, the best you get is this guy who looks like he fits better in ITF’s Utopia than in the land of the fae!

Ok, lemme stop being mean--the CAS stuff doesn’t matter; the modders always do FAR better than EA ever has in that department; so why am I even surprised?
On to the GAMEPLAY.
EA kinda sorta listened to my call thru the ether way back in the Werewolf pack about making the occult lifestate & world flora/fauna work together to cure magical ailments & such (x x).
Seems like gardening, potions & herbs will be a real focus--which is recycled content with another coat of paint, sure, but this is EA after all. So instead of SN EP’s Elixir Shop, TS4 will have a Potions Shop--that better not be a rabbithole EA! ���
There’s so much Build/Buy goodies though, ngl. 😍 😍

But I don’t really care about any of that--these gardening/foraging skills look like something any sim can do. What is unique to the FAIRIES?
These pestering sprites look exactly like TS3′s LN EP Will-O-Wisps, which is cute for continuity, but lame compared to what the fae sprites look like in SN.

I’m seeing a lot of old interactions from the SN EP return, but what is new and INNOVATIVE here, to push the franchise FORWARD?
This animation is so stupid--she looks DEAD. 🤦 Once again, EA’s mistaken Nature-Buff with Homeless:
I would’ve at least had a magical patch of flowers/moss grow all around her as she slept, kinda like the trail of flowers that appear wherever TS3 Plantsims walk. And no MUSHROOM RING?! That’s rule 101 of the fae, duh, EA! 🤦

Not a single mushroom in sight. This is a Hedgewitch, EA. A cluttered greenhouse/treehouse does NOT a faery make! DO MORE.
Speaking of trees--
I despise that the new Faery Treehouse has such a basic plain design, and has to sit on a table, instead of being it’s own plant-like growth. Even the giant burrow tree in Country Living looked more fit for fae than this crap.
There’d better be more options & prettier treehouse choices, EA, istg. 😤This design sorely lacks imagination & creativity, esp. when TS3′s look so much better.
I hope this is a treehouse, though it's giving more SN EP Jellybean Bush--but as a harvestable plant for ingredients. I wonder if it’ll kill/affect normie sims.
Grandfather Willow, come through? I love that there’s a Jack-in-the-Green, but I hate that it’s a dead-looking tree stump, and not legit Grandmother Willow with an iconic huge foliage canopy.

What would be REALLY cool is if there was an NPC Plantsim Jack / Old Man of the Woods who could help sims with stuff. Not whatever’s going on with the cooky gnome angle they’re leaning towards.
Jesus.
What on earth--you know what? Nevermind, forget I asked.
And don’t you dare show any mermaid motifs, when TS4′s mersims were barely a step above TS4′s plantsims in the Lame Department.
Yawn. I’d rather see the forest for the trees, cuz this is a FAERY pack--why TF would I care about some seaside portside fishing village? That was Island Living’s job, DUH.
And I said I’d stop being mean, LOL. 😅 But what ticking me off most about this whole expansion is that it’s giving TS3′s Hidden Springs--which had a MUCH stronger concept even years before we ever got SN.

That’s what’s killing me. Cuz you could easily tell that there was the normie side of town, but the deeper you went off the beaten path, the more obvs it was that there were legit ELVES living in Hidden Springs, too, chugging whatever meth was in that magic fountain of theirs that turned their skin green & blue & whatever.


So like, is this glowing stone the entrance to a magical realm, like Realm of Magic’s portal gate that led to Diagon Alley? Or is this just a hidden corner of the nornie world, like Hidden Springs’ area where the Fountain of Youth was, Tuck Everlasting style? Ngl, it had better be a magical realm portal, EA; I hope there’s whole Hobbit Town Shire where fae live, separate from the muggles; the way I’d hoped RoM would be.
I am SO SICK of EA being scared to go the distance and really do the occult lifestates justice, and really give them a High Fantasy expansion that takes place in a different time, the way the SN EP was obvs more Victorian/Vintage, and ITF was ofc scifi. Stop with the generic hipster millennial garbage, and take us to another world already! These are FAERIES, ffs! The one time y’all should’ve literally done a full-fledged Fairy World! And instead we get MAINE!? 🤦
TL;DR: Underwhelmed, but still curious.
*sigh*
I’m still lowkey excited, okay? I hope this pack works out, cuz this is the 2nd TS4 lifestate I’ve BEEN waiting for after Witches. But EA really better make sure there’s WAY more to this EP than what they’ve showed, cuz they had 13 YEARS since TS3′s SN EP to get faeries right, and so far I’m just seeing an awful lotta hedgewitching and very little fae shenangians. 🤔

Heyy, what packs would you reccomend the most for the sims, like your favorite ones?
oh boy this is a long one, strap in. i like a lot of different packs for a lot of different reasons, so i added some notes!
expansions:
city living (apartments, neighbor system is fun) cats and dogs (self-explanatory + i LOVE brindleton bay) seasons!!! (calendar system + scouts + weather = love of my life) cottage living (henford-on-bagley is BEAUTIFUL and the gameplay is so nice if you prefer something slower but equally as chaotic) growing together (essential to my gameplay + stay overs alone are such a cool feature + san sequoia my goat) for rent (love the rental system i can't live without it but DO NOT GET IT until they fix the broken saves issue!) life and death (ravenwood is gorg, if you play with occults this is an incredible pack to add to your game) businesses and hobbies (you can make a business out of virtually anything. it's so sims 3 ambitions coded)
game packs:
outdoor retreat (i'm a big camping fan and i love sending my sims on vacations) dine out (i can't function without this one. the restaurants are so buggy but i love it regardless) parenthood!!! (again, essential to gameplay if you play with families!)
stuff packs:
spooky stuff (great if you want an add-on to seasons, otherwise it's just cute for makeshift seasonal decorating!) kids room (all the items in this pack are SO CUTE and i love the voidcritter battle station) laundry day (I LOVE DOING LAUNDRY + great if you like ur sims doing menial tasks) paranormal (incredible build/buy, the haunted house system is so cool, reminds me of ts3 supernatural so +10 points for that) home chef hustle (honestly not crazy good, but i do like the new appliances and the food stands)
kits:
bust the dust (vacuuming yay! the dust system is so cute) little campers (another children + toddler kit that comes with super cute objects. the dollhouse WILL be used in every build) everyday clutter (self-explanatory + i love clutter) bathroom clutter (again, self-explanatory. also i love clutter!) basements treasures (this kit calls to me from my pc like the green goblin mask + have i told you i love clutter) greenhouse haven (great if you like gardening + the windows and doors are so so so good if you like making screened in porches) grunge revival (great if your game is lacking darker, grungier clothes!) urban homage (SO good. has a mix of cultural items + classic pieces, the overalls + jerseys + basketball shorts go triple platinum in my game) party essentials (well it is called party ESSENTIALS... so if you plan events often this is the one for you) artist studio (love the objects that come with this one and it's very useful if you tend to have artistically inclined sims!) restoration workshop (just did a live overview of this + the two other kits that came out with it on youtube so if you want a closer look at the objects check it out!!! but i LOVE the little restore feature and the appliances and objects are so good for older homes + garages!) kitchen clutter (yet another clutter kit... can you guess what i'm gonna say) golden years (if you play with elders this kit is SO GOOD. even if you don't play with elders, a lot of the items are super versatile and work for sims of other ages!)
creator kits:
sweet slumber party (the items in this are so cute i would buy it 60 times over) cozy kitsch (myshunosun is one of my all-time favorite creators and this kit is so versatile) comfy gamer (simsie outdid herself because this kit is one of my all time favs. the objects speak to a very niche part of the gaming community i love them)

#Fixed some pages where I forgot to remove my stuff to test things.
#I changed the property "Do I have a default?" from checkbox to "Status". Now it looks like this:
Why did I do it? Because I noticed that sometimes I wasn't sure about the defaults I downloaded, so I wanted to have… more options to mark things. One check wasn't enough for me.
#I've added four new views, taking advantage of the new property, to help you to better group the defaults you have and don't have. See the screens here.
#I have added other list compilation for cc and mods which may come in handy.
#I added the "Camera Mod" section in the "Graphics" section.

Small clarifications:

These are:

Also, In ”Life States” I took the liberty of also adding midgethetree’s custom occults, but if you don't use them you can delete them.
# Some properties are hidden because not all sims have info for those properties. So to see them click on “more proprierties”. These options will only remain visible if you fill their box.
These are:
1. Death Cause (Don’t all sims are dead)
2. Business (OFB Business, it can be a shop a bakery etch)
3. Role in Business
4. All school/university-related properties, if your sim doesn't attend it.
# Some properties are hidden and cannot be made visible even if you fill their boxes. These are for the template filters, so please don't touch them. This property is literally called "Filters”.
My tracker has many more proprieties than a classic tracker and I filled it with ready options so you don't have to write everything by hand yourself (that's why it took me a long time)
ALL the properties have ready options, you just have to choose without the trouble of writing anything (unless you want to insert custom options yourself)
The tracker has also a lot of different views and I'll let you discover them yourself!
I didn't want to add extra options for gender identities and sexual orientations because I don't want to forget anyone, so you can add whatever you want!
And as a last thing to say I can say that for the "currently played family" view, I copied the idea from this template from @skittlessims-deactivated2023082 / @skittlesplays

I'm putting my story in hiatus.
That's it. That's the post.
Just kidding, let me explain.
I have no idea when will EA update that damn occult eye bug, but I don't think I can wait it out, especially when I'm going to be busy this year (internship, graduating, adulting and all). To top it all off, my laptop is giving me problems, so I decided to hold off from playing any games, including TS4 (and TS3...and Warframe </3). I want it to last until I graduate and am able to get a job.
I'll still be here, of course, reblogging and interacting. My story would just be on pause. (Also, I need to keep an eye out for Isabella in @changingplumbob's BC).

First off, a disclaimer: I have NEVER done a bachelor(ette) challenge before in my simming life. Well, I did one back in TS3, but it was literally only my own sims. 🤷🏻♀️
Aging will be off temporarily during the BC
Male sims only - and that means trans men can enter too
All occults allowed - except werewolves since they tend towards hatred with vampires
Young Adults only
All sims will be using my default replacements - if your sims come with replacements, just know they'll be changing
No romantic traits or aspirations so everyone's on the same playing field
I will be looking for between 5 and 7 sims
Please give sims at least one outfit per category!
On those lines, any amount of CC is welcome - I am a CC hoarder. Maxis Match hair is required (I realize that technically Evette's hair is Alpha, but it can pass as MM - Alpha hair that's MM passing is fine), but clothes can be MM or Alpha. Also, please include the CC in the download!
I have all expansions, all game packs except Batuu, Paranormal Stuff, Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, Moschino, Laundry Day, Toddler Stuff, Kids Room, and Move Hangout Stuff packs, and Desert Luxe, Carnaval Streetwear Kit, and Incheon Arrivals Kit
You can do any amount of backstory you want to do - since the Name Game is primarily gameplay that I don't even caption half the time, I won't be talking much about their background.
Feel free to make a post about the sim, or dm me about them; the download can be private or public, doesn't matter to me. <3
Everyone is welcome to enter!
Also: Evette prefers non-exclusive relationships. She wants to find someone to share her life with, but she would prefer it to be a non-exclusive relationship. And as such, she will likely keep in contact with the contestants that get eliminated - and will likely have babies with at least 1 or 2 of them. So even if your sim doesn't win, they might still father the next generation heir. 😉

Wormville: Gen 1: Strings Sorcerous
Another low-effort ficlet about the Sims I'm introducing! This time, the spotlight is on Balthazar Elaho-Inipp and his sister Serenity.
Aside from them, Zachary Devir, Lester Devir and Stella Terrano are mentioned, and all 3 of the Gen 0 Elaho-Inipps also get a mention. There's very small nods to Victor Beldine and Nico Devir, too.
CW: suicidal ideation (not heavily explored), drinking (TS3 lore friendly - alcohol is "juice"), pregnancy mention (not a focus at all)
“Why are you following me around?” Balthazar asks seemingly no one.
“I'm not. I have only noticed that you happen to leave every time I enter the room.” Through the window, his sister climbs out and joins him, sitting on the outside sill. She shrugs. “I found it peculiar. May I know what I've done to you?”
He takes a sip out of his bottle. “You? Nothing.”
“So who has?”
“Nobody.”
“So that's why you're drinking alone sitting in the window?” Serenity looks down. “It unsettles me how easily you could fall. Especially tipsy. You really shouldn't do this.”
“Thanks, mom,” Balthazar scoffs.
“If I actually called mom, she would've made you wish you fell,” she laughs.
Her brother just leans with his head against the wall, and looks at her. “Have you ever considered that it might be a high time we grew up?”
The smile from her face disappears. “As far as I'm concerned, we've been grown up for a while.”
“I don't feel like I am. And I don't think you really do either, but that's none of my business.”
Serenity furrows her brows. “So what do you propose? More serious adult activities, such as whatever you're trying to accomplish now?”
“C’mon, you don't have to get offended.”
“I'm not.”
“You are.”
“I'm not!”
“Do you want some?” He offers the bottle.
“No, thank you. I might be pregnant again. I don't think I am, but better safe than sorry. Speaking of safety, I also don't want to fall down.”
Balthazar stares somewhere into the distance. “So it's been going fine between you and Stella?”
“Of course. Why wouldn't it be?”
“I don't know. I just had a bad feeling. Not necessarily about the two of you, just… kinda in general.”
“Was it only a feeling, or…?”
“Yeah. No visions. Just weird things happening in my brain without any clear informational value.”
“Just like Alexei.”
“Yeah. I guess that between him and Alexis, there's really no doubt who biologically sired me.”
“As if that ever mattered.”
“Yeah.”
“Anyway, I'll request assistance from the priest. You shouldn't have to fight it on your own.”
“Don't. It's not that serious. Plus, I kinda feel like it's just between the Entity and me. What could Nico do besides light some candles and look at me like he really needed to piss?” Balthazar smirks. “He always does when he's doing occult stuff, have you noticed? It's hilarious.”
Serenity scratches her nose. “Is there anything else we could do for you?”
“You mean we as the family?”
“No, I mean myself and my fish. Of course I mean the family!”
“Besides leaving me alone? I have no idea.”
“That might be especially difficult to do, given that there's an entire wedding in two days.” She gives him a curious look.
Balthazar just takes another swig.
“Are you at least a little excited?”
“No.”
“Oh…” Serenity visibly pauses. “Has anything happened between you and Zachary?”
“No. It's not him, it's me. Zach just deserves better.” Balthazar spits down into the dark. Serenity rolls her eyes. “I will marry him. But I don't think that's a good thing.”
“He wouldn't do it if he didn't want to.”
“I know. But it will ruin his life.”
“It will improve it.”
“No, I will… destroy him. I'm not stupid. I can see what it's like to live with me and handle my bullshit. I just can't stop,” Balthazar closes his eyes. He looks very tense. “Even though I want to. Damnit, I really… want to…”
“It's not that bad, Balthy… I like having you around, and others do, as well. Zach loves you. He knows that you have problems. I'm sure he's prepared that he'll have to be patient and supportive with you.”
“He might change his mind in a few years,” Balthazar sighs. “And I'm not even talking about the war. He would've had his son back if he didn't join us. Loser Cousinfucker was fine with everything before Zach publicly announced our engagement.”
“Zachary will bring it to the priest and win in the court. It's not your fault that Victor’s a heartless pig.”
“Maybe. But he wouldn't have that problem in the first place if he wasn't with me, that's a fact.”
“He also wouldn't have you.”
“And I'm such a prize,” Balthazar laughs. Then he stops, looking straight down. “I've been meaning to tell you something. That's why I've been avoiding you.”
Serenity keeps looking into the darkness, and smiles a little. “Sounds a little counterproductive.”
“I can't stop thinking about how you're gonna hate me when you find out, so sorry for trying to mentally prepare.”
“Now you have me worried. I promise you I won't hate you. But you are scaring me right now.”
“Let's just say I've fucked around and found out.”
Serenity frowns, and not just out of disapproval of his crass language.
“I’ve…” Balthazar stops himself and drinks a bit more instead. “I tried manifesting arcane powers. And it didn't work.”
“We don't have any in our blood.”
“Yeah. Lester had to study for years. And you, too.”
“I haven't succeeded yet. Maybe I'll have to wait for Lester to master the ritual to initiate me forcefully.”
“Yeah. That,” Balthazar frowns as well. “I used the lamp.”
The eyes of the future Elaho-Inipp head bulge a little with surprise. “What? For Entity's sake, why?”
“Because I'm a worthless waste of space.”
“I didn't even know you wanted to be a witch!”
“That's funny, because me neither.” He shakes his head. “I just did it in the heat of the moment.”
“No, no. You don't just trip and fall into seeking out the lamp and summoning the Genie.”
“Okay, it was in the heat of several moments. It was premeditated, but like, by an hour.”
“But…” It seems like he succeeded in catching Serenity out of words. It is a small, insignificant victory, and he isn't even in any state to savor it. “When? Where is the lamp?”
“The lamp’s no more. It was the last wish. It happened before I left La Fiesta,” he says as calmly as possible.
“Balthy, I… it's just a shock. Do you already know the price?”
He looks at the bottle in his hand. “Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've already paid.”
“Could I ask what it was?”
Balthazar just makes eye contact with her and then drinks some more. There is not much more left in the flask.
“It feels awful,” he says after a while. “It's like poison. My head is so heavy. And I feel… empty.”
She's still frowning. “I'm trying to understand, but I don't think I do…”
He scoffs and lets out a peculiar noise. “You wouldn't. Lester makes it look so glamorous. You're special now. You have powers. Who the fuck wouldn't want to be a witch?” Balthazar tries to lift the bottle to his lips again, but it slips out of his fingers and the rest of the juice spills on his vest. He curses and lets the bottle fall off. It shatters on the ground in the garden. He smiles.
“I went to drink here hoping that this will be me,” he says. “That I will get juiced, slip and…”
“I got that much. It won't happen, though. If you start slipping, I'll catch you.”
He looks at her. “If you do, we'll both fall.”
“That's a risk I'm okay with taking.”
Balthazar sighs again. “But I'm not. Let's go back inside.”
“Good idea.” Serenity crawls through the window first, but stays close, anxious, as he slowly follows her. He feels unsteady, and he giggles about that out of nowhere. But in the end, he manages to get in as well.
The soft glow of his wall light and the darkness of his room get to him, somehow. He's standing upright, but it feels like balancing and rocking in all directions. Balthazar hugs himself with his arms. “I need to get the corruption out of me…”
Serenity sits on his bed. “There are means to cleanse the body of magic. I shall look into them for you. With any luck, you'll be a non-arcane Sim again in a few days.”
“No, that's not gonna be enough,” he responds immediately. “The sin. My greed. It's in me. I did something bad. Now only the Entity can forgive me. And I did this all to myself.”
“It's just an alternative, worse way to obtain powers that our clan has been trying to harness for generations. It's not a sin. I understand that you personally don't want them, but that doesn't mean that getting them is a punishable offense.”
“You can't imagine how disgusting I feel. You can't imagine how much I hate myself.” He sneers. “Of course you can't. The only way to be more than a cheap replacement for Lester is to be a Serenity! The princess. Everyone's little science girl. You have never expre-expredi-”
“Experienced?”
“Experienced! You have never experienced anything even remotely close to the way I feel!”
Serenity seems to be waiting for him to finish. She looks a little pale.
He turns away from her. He doesn't want to see her face. He would rather look at his shadow, exagerrated by the wall lamp. “Of fucking course you want magic. I can tell you that it destroyed me, but you won't believe it. Who the fuck even am I?”
Suddenly, Balthazar freezes, as Serenity hugs him from behind. His muscles tense up, but then relax. She keeps holding him. He turns around and reluctantly returns the embrace.
“I need you to know that you don't have to decide on that. You already are somebody, even if you don't yet know who,” she says softly. “And I know that you're my little brother and I love you. You're not a replacement for Lester, Balthy. I'm glad to have you in my clan.”
He tries to say something, but he just sobs.
“Even though you really grind my gears sometimes. And you talk like a sailor. And your breath smells like juice.”
Balthazar laughs through his tears. “Serenity, you're such an ass…”
As they stand there for several moments more, Mirp rubs his head against their legs with a small meow.

Has anyone posted screenshots for the teaser video the sims team posted for this "season" of upcoming releases?
I'm cleaning up my cc right now so I'm going to break it down. Speculation below the cut! Feel free to reply with your own thoughts because this teaser has kind of stumped me in some ways ngl... but I have theories!


Jewelry box theme, so I think "jewelry" will be important to this "season." I'm unsure how that ties in, perhaps the stuff pack? (More on that later.) Either way, I think we can all safely assume that it's the big selling feature of this season.

Already got those obviously: Goth Galore and Castle Estate. Moving on!

SDX drops are kind of wildcards - they don't usually cover just one kind of thing. In this pic though I'm a bit complexed by the "W," mannequin head, and Bella-style bodycon dress. Not sure what they're going to give us, but the last few SDX drops for basegame have actually been great, so I'm hopeful it's more than one or two things. I'll always take free stuff!

First thought is could be a new skill like gem cutting/jewelry crafting with an accompanying career, but that seems niche to me idk why!! But with the theme of this entire teaser being so jewelry-focused, I have to believe that the stuff pack is going to be jewelry related in some way (it's the largest thing on this list, so it makes sense that the teaser would mostly be connected to the most profitable item.)
I do want to say this: although I really don't think they would make fairies a stuff pack (sorry to my fellow occult lovers and TS3 Fairies enjoyers... I know you all have been wanting fairies so bad) HOWEVER!!! I will admit that the spooky all-seeing-eyes in the earrings, the gnome, the color palette, the crystals, the butterfly necklace in the header... it's giving nature/fairies/magic. Guess we'll see! 🤷♀️

Hmmmmm this feels so straight forward that it's going over my head somehow. We have luxury party, we have wedding stories, toddler and backyard stuff have a lot of great "party" items, seasons gives us a ton of seasonal party items... what could this give us that has to do with celebrations that aren't already covered? Birthday stuff maybe? That might be fun, but I am not sure what to expect from this kit.
I'm going to controversially say this though: I like build kits. If we get even one new activity from this kit and some good clutter that's reusable with good swatches, I'll happily buy this one. Birthdays might be one of the only type of celebration we have next to nothing for, so I don't think I'd be upset with getting a kit for general celebrations (graduation parties, for example) and birthdays. Plus the disco ball swatch is kind of silly but could be exciting!

No idea what this could be, but more than likely it seems like it will be a CAS kit that is a collab with one of two people: either a gamechanger/big cc creator in the community OR another collaboration with a brand or company (like we saw with Moschino stuff or Depop in HSY).
What do you all think? I'd love to hear thoughts and feelings on this teaser and when/in what order you guys think things are going to be released!!

If we got a fairy occult in sims i would love these things to be included:
-not just fairies, but also gnomes, elves and goblins... each of them having different abilities, fairy and goblin form.
-archery as a new skill and bug collecting as a hobby for sims. maybe they could catch a fairy?
-maybe a new career for fairies (tooth fairy)
-lotr inspired cas with many long hairstyles for male sims (think of legolas) goblincore and fairycore too... design your wings?
-lots of mushroom inspired bb, and a feature to decorate fairy homes in different themes. in ts3 they could shrink themselves and sleep/ have parties in a small fairyhouse that sadly was a rabbit hole... how about they lead to a secret world in ts4... i am also thinking that their fairy homes could be any kind of objects, like teapots or flowerpots and mushrooms, maybe even the doll house from basegame and other EPs
-obviously lots of new flowers
-maybe as a crosspack feature, but they could actually be the gnomes that appear during thanksgiving or have an advantage of not angering them, bless houses with the gnome trait or appear more if a lot has the gnome trait, rabbits and birds from cottage livings could have a moodlet or interaction with them + the hamsters from my first pet stuff
-speaking of my first pet stuff.... could we please have tiny dragons (like in ts3 dragon valley?)

My name is Rose, my pronouns are she/they & I'm 31 years old. I currently stay home often since I struggle with balancing ASD, severe social anxiety & depression so I use Sims & other media to make me happy. I mainly play The Sims 4, but I played ts3 and 2 a lot when I was younger. The main focus of this blog will be TS4! I've never fully made a proper blog or anything before, but I love storytelling and creating characters from either my original creations or characters from various media that I enjoy including Hoyoverse games, Ensemble Stars & other medias that I enjoy and find comfort in. I often just play silly little gameplay stuff or dwell in CAS but I would love to be able to do challenges and legacy stuff eventually so I can get a good footing and feel of how Simblr is. I love occult's a lot, I often make vampires of all shapes and variety, but I also like using the in-game occults to mimic other types of mythical creatures like fairies, demons, witches, etc. I love anime, idol franchises, various other game franchises, vampires & creating OCs.

TS3 vs TS4 Features - Supernatural
I saw @moonbiscuitsims' comment here about how EA added "way more features" in their TS4 occult packs, and I wanted to talk about it in depth, cuz that's a misleading statement. Y'all know TS4's my trigger.

Cuz yes, on paper, EA offers a LOT of stuff in TS4 packs. But the saying goes: as broad as an ocean and as deep as a puddle. 😬 QUALITY, versus QUANTITY, which is crucial for replayability, customization, variability, and ultimate longevity. And another thing is the TIMEFRAME that that content was released. Sure, if it takes you 10 years to develop/dripfeed your frikkin game, ofc you can add more content over more packs; than if you'd just stuck to ONE dedicated pack, developed it in 1-2 years, and given people arguably BETTER, if not MORE content.
My gut reaction's to say EA had BETTER be offering more content! 😤 Not even to justify the ridiculous pricetag or anything, but for the simple fact that TS4's supposed to be NEXT GEN. It's SUPPOSED to be bigger & better than everything that came before it. Why are we sitting here for 10 years with TS4 if it ain't gonna increase ANYTHING but my rising blood pressure & trust issues?!
So Imma just examine TS3 SN in comparison with TS4's packs, and give my take on what's been going on, from 2012 (SN EP) to now.
Missing Features: TS4 Fairies
A fairy was the very first sim I ever made in TS3 back in 2009 (my avatar sim, Sakura). Watching the SN announcement trailer for the first time dang near made me cry. TS4 could never; moving on.
Missing Features: TS4 Zombies & Toadsims
TS4 Tragic Clowns are a W for the apple juggling & costume. I think EA was lazy by slacking on the clown just cuz he's already dead in Sunset Valley; and I guess they don't expect players to resurrect his ghost. SN EP did nothing to actually improve/expand him, just creating the alchemy Clown Potion; I guess to better integrate fishing the Clownfish into the lore.
TS4 Vampires GP (2017)
This is an easy one. I've said since TS3 Late Night EP (2010) that TS3's vampires are utter dogtrash, and the SN EP did eff all to patch/improve them, and I will die on that hill (until someone figures out how to give convert TS4's functional coffins & vampire fights & special FX). Compared to every other occult, I have more mods installed just to try to fix how effing busted & stupid vamps are; and these sparkling Twilight dumb AF bloodsuckers STILL get on my dang nerves.
IMO, TS4 Vampires is hands down the best pack EA ever made for TS4. 10/10, the attention they put in that pack outclasses darn near everything else they did until TS4 Seasons. Undisputed W, yes. 👏
TS4 Realm of Magic GP (2019)
Disputed W. I gave it an 8/10 at BEST, cuz magic/fantasy's a win, but I am disappointed. If this had been a home run for EA, I'd've shut my dang mouth, ISTG. But alas. I went on a long AF tirade against RoM when I realized that a lot of its so-called "new" features were things we could already do in TS4, with a flashy coat of paint--let alone things TS3 & the SN EP did, and better. Some things I didn't mention though:
Muggles who ask spellcasters how to do magic are sent on a fetch quest for Magic Motes, which is EXACTLY what the ITF EP Time Traveler occult Emit Revelart makes normies do to, finding Power Cells to learn how to use the Time Portal.

The Witch's perks/ranks system works just like the Vampires one, so kudos to EA for not fixing something that ain't broke I guess.
The Spells: At MTS I actually broke down what each of TS4's spellcasters do that's largely nothing sims couldn't do in TS3, even before SN came out (via SHT Genies or SSNS Aliens, or the Store).
TS3 Witches (let alone other lifestates) can do most of this either through alchemy or inherited features from older TS3 packs. This was a huge RoM dealbreaker for me, as I'd been hoping for WAY more innovative features in TS4's spells--the whole point of Spellcasters--than just an elaborate set of cheats. TS3's Witch's main features are fewer, but far more cohesive, IMO. (Granted, NONE of the packs holds a single candle to the GOAT that is TS1's Makin Magic, which had WAY more features than TS2, TS3 & TS4; and was CHEAPER. But I digress.)
There's no unique features with TS3/TS4 wands; they act the same way; the effects are just different, and TBH I'm not a fan of either--I wish wand/magic FXs could be modded in different colors at least (like BLACK 😈). But I DO like that in TS4 they can duel for rewards.
TS4 brooms do EFF ALL in a closed world; EA made them exactly they way they were in TS2, with zero innovation. (IIRC kids can't even use them--EA's hatred for kids & elders ALMOST matches MY hatred of EA.)
IMO beekeeping doesn't count, cuz TS3 included it as a small feature for alchemy ingredients in the SN EP, while TS4 integrated it far better in SSNS to work with gardening, which is genius.
Speaking of SSNS, there's the Weather Stone that only appears if you have both SN & SSNS, so occults can conjure magical weather effects over the whole world. (I'll talk about the best perk under Crystals SP.)
Familiars are the certified W for me with RoM. They're the best & most unique & most well-thought out & feature of the GP, IMO. ❤️
Extra TS4 features I think are supremely cool are spellcasters' books floating whenever they read anything. And their cauldrons have much cooler animations, and I'm so jealous that y'all can cook food in them; EA should've added that to the Store Cauldron, although I guess I understand why they didn't in the SN EP Alchemy Cauldron.
A lot of RoM's features are wrapped around Glimmerbrook. Access to Glimmerbrook comes with the Glimmer Stone key--and I WOULD use that as a segue into the Crystals SP, but I'll hold off. I already vented about Glimmerbrook in my Werewolves GP rant--but I'll get to that in a minute, too. The bigger issue is what even constitutes a TS4 "world"--those non-customizeable tiny AF clusters of tiny AF lots and huge swaths of decorative set dressing--let alone the Diagon Alley ripoff EA loves promoting like I was born yesterday and never saw Harry Potter. GORGEOUS realm, of course, like many EA worlds are. But they're largely just set-dressing, which irritates me to no end.
TS4 Paranormal SP (2021)
I've ranted & raved about Paranormal before: 7/10 at best.
TS4 Seances with the crystal ball work very differently from TS3's Soothsayer's Crystal Ball, which wasn't about banishing ghosts, but improving progression for SN's Witches & Fortune Telling (career). Fortune Telling's NOT a ghostly job, although the boho aesthetic carried over to TS4 Paranormal. (On top of the fact that they promised this whole NOLA Voodoo vibe, but delivered ZERO cultural accurate features reflecting ANYTHING from Haitian Voodoo, wtf? It's all hippie boho New Age BS--why TF does the tutorial ghost look more like Johnny Depp and less like Dr. Facilier, I ask you, EA.) Granted, some of the interactive objects are nice, like the calming dollbaby & magic candles to purify lots--kinda like TS3 incense. But again: 1-trick ponies. Yes, the animations look great, but crystal balls are typically for divination, asking spirits about the past/present/future, not removing haunting poltergeists, so I don't really get it. Stylish & gorgeous! But GENERIC AF substance-wise.
IMO, TS4's Ghosts are an L across the board; all the way from the base game--that bafflingly launched in 2014 WITHOUT ghosts until they were patched in a whole month later after everyone rose a stink (IIRC TS4 kids can't be ghosts!?)--to present. EA's been over/course-correcting from that gaffe ever since, with like double the amount of Death types than TS3. I DO NOT like how TS4 ghosts colors are tied to Eeemotionnsss~! (more like they're a sentient Plumbbob). TBF, kudos to TS4's smoky cloudy effect when ghosts appear. But the lack of unique deaths & ghost types in RoM (aside from Spellcaster Overload & the Night Wraith) made me roll my eyes, as SN EP's ghost types are some of my faves (ITF & SHT are also my top 3).
IIRC it was the SN patch that unlocked all types in (basegame?) CAS to make playable Ghosts. SN's Philosopher's Stone allows sims to summon new playable Ghosts (and ofc allows for transmutating cheap objects into gold ingots--more on that later), or it can just kill you and make YOU the new ghost, LOL.


But as for features, sure, TS4 ghosts have more interactions--though they're all pretty, rather than scary (vs TS2 ghosts, which were SCARY). TS4 ghosts lost the HORROR to just be silly/goofy or just CUTESY--especially the little spectres from Paranormal.

Speaking of horror, I can't talk about ghosts w/out bringing up TS3's AMB EP, cuz the Ghost Hunter (profession) is the real parallel with TS4's Paranormal Investigator (freelancer). In TS3, they actually stuck to their promised main premise (Ghostbusters). Overall, TS4 Seances are nowhere near as fluid as TS3 ghostbusting. In TS3 you can run all over the world using gidgets-gadgets to detect/fight ghosts & sprites, not just inside haunted houses, but anywhere they happen to spawn (ofc inc. graveyards). You're not just locked to a lot/house the player already knows is haunted (cuz you just toggle Haunted Lot to trigger the feature--SN's Ghost Gnome object isn't exactly the same, but it does spawn hauntings on the lots you put them in). ANY TS3 indoor/outdoor residential/community lot can randomly get haunted during a Ghost Hunter's shift; and you never know which one it'll be, or what kind of shenanigans will happen--EVIL ghost or just some sprites--which skyrockets replayability & keeps things fresh & interesting.
Functionally, Paranormal had no right to be that dang good for a Stuff Pack. That was a Game Pack; IDKY EA insists otherwise; esp. when it offered more & better things than some actual GPs. I'm confused. However, a serious problem TS4 has is that it gameifies everything to the point that TS4's numerous features lose their spontaneity, and just become rote--BORING. The ectoplasm everywhere just becomes another mess in your (haunted) house you have to clean--CHORES. On top of me not liking TS4 ghosts' look & vibe (and I HATE TS4's Bonehilda). Quality over quantity, EA!
TS4 Werewolves GP (2022)
Speaking of ghosts, waaaay back in 2020 I told the spirits precisely what I wanted from a potential Werewolf dedicated TS4 pack. Did they listen? HAYUL NAW. So in 2022 I said everything I had to say about the Werewolves GP, and accepted the fact that EA's INEPT.
Do TS4's wolves have MORE features than TS3? YES ofc (even in 2012 everyone complained that Witches & Faeries got the lion's share & Werewolves got shafted--they're basically glorified Familiars for Witches/Alchemist to find collectibles--more on that below). But was most of it GOOD features though? Debatable! I LOATHE the 2 wolf packs, which was what I'd most looked forward to; plus the whole world's aesthetic was ugly homeless-grunge, without a single bit of creativity or originality--only EA could make monsters as terrifying as werewolves effing cartoony hipster squatters. 🤦 7/10 at best.
TS4 Crystals SP (2024)
These crystals are ugly, EA. Which is weird, cuz the basegame TS4 gems & esp. space rocks are GORGEOUS. I have no idea which vision-impaired dev at EAxis thought these nasty looking opaque poorly-painted rocks were pretty.
Features-wise, granted, having TS4's bonafide Gemology skill from the Crystals SP's nice, instead of TS3's basegame hidden Collector skill. But the functioanlity's largely the same: cut more, unlock more (which I prefer to cheat my way through--TS3 thinks I have time for all this gameplay, LOL). (Not to mention all the extra features TS3's Aliens, Simbots & Plumbbots have when interacting with gems, space rocks, or metals.) TS4 only got 10 gem cuts for 27 crystals (=270), (+25 metals); compared to TS3's 16 gem cuts for 28 gems (=448), (+16 metals with their own separate ingots). Of TS4's 10 cuts, the Skull Cut is the ONLY one I think looks better (ignoring the atrociously flat textures ofc) than TS3's (which TS4 copy/pasted--no agates, no crystal ball, wtf).


The Garden Gnome cut isn't unique to TS4, as TS3 has several craftable (glass-only) Garden Gnome cut from the Glassblowing Machine (more on that soon).
The only TS3 gem that genuinely affects sims is radioactive Tiberium from the WA EP, so more features is definitely a plus. The best addition is TS4's Charging Grid feature--I LOVE that TS4 crystals can be imbued with magic energy--it's like TS3's Store Crystal Tree, ITF EP's magic crystal plants & the SN EP Mood Lamp all rolled into one. @greenplumbboblover's WIP Interests & Hobbies mod brainstormed integrating that functionality that back in 2020.




The functionality of the TS3 SN EP Gem Cutter & the TS4 Crystal Tree are similar, though ofc the tree's wallet & eco-friendly; and it's a plant, not a hunk of machinery, so it naturally has that going for it.
There's also the SN-SSNS Weather Stone, which gives werewolves the ability to summon a Hunter's Storm, raining a hail of gems, rocks & metals over the whole world for easy loot farming. (The best perk, though my fave is the Faeries' Reviving Sprinkle for gardening.)


Aside from SN, TS3's real equivalent is actually the Prism Art Studio Venue's Artisan skill. Cuz the REAL seller's the jewellery-making. There's ~100 CAS items in Crystals SP (plus 30+ regular Build/Buy mode objects). At $10, the Crystals SP is a steal, at least when compared to the BONKERS $20 tag on TS3's Prism Art Studio at the Store (2014). IIRC the Glassblowing Machine newly added 16 craftable CAS items & 13 craftable glass objects (as SN already gave us the Gem-Cutting Machine & AMB already gave us the Widgets work station); and 8 Build/Buy objects (inc. the goated L-shaped "spiral" stairs). It also added 5 craftable Perfumes for sims to use.

So while the Crystals SP added NICE features, I wouldn't say they added MORE features. Rather, they added more content: Quantity. But as for Quality, I think TS3 beats it out--the Prism Studio's a effing ripoff, but AFAIK it added features TS4 still doesn't have yet (craftable glassblowing & perfumes, spiral stairs); and the objects it did add are pretty nifty.
Timeframe-wise, we got the 2014 Prism Art Studio's Glassblower 2 years after the SN EP's Gem-Cutter; 5 years after the 2009 basegame. Compared to TS4's wait for the Crystals SP 2 years after Werewolves, 3 after Paranormal, 5 after RoM; and a whopping DECADE after the basegame launched in 2014. Wtf, EA?
Still, I'd say the Crystal SP's a 7/10 (there's not enough gem cuts, the gems textures are ugly, and most of the features were lifted from things TS3 had innovated 10+ years earlier).
TL;DR
Quantity =/= Quality.
EA's been taking way too long releasing packs to have the nerve to present debatable content--it should be goated releases EVERY time; esp. since everyone agrees TS4 is easier to create content for, so much smaller in scale/scope, and with an infinitely larger budget & fanbase than The Sims franchise ever had. There's zero excuse for EAxis' mediocrity, when TS3 was churning out EPs like it's life depended on it: SHT, SN, and SSNS all came out the SAME EFFING YEAR. 2012 was LIT.

i'm curious to know how would you have wanted mermaids to work (they were my favorites in ts3 😭 and they got NOTHING in ts4 😭) and also how would you want fairies to work if we ever get them 👀 like if you had the power to make the game ajdjakfk
Oooh good question!
I'd want mermaids and fairies to have a similar perk tree as vampires, werewolves, and spellcasters. (Ideally I'd want to have both the power/weakness dynamic vampires have and the dormant abilities werewolves have, but, I dream...!)
A specialization option similar to the one spellcasters have would be cool, too. (Although I think I'd prefer to have them locked into their specialization so they can't master every magic type.)
Some fairy stuff I think would be fun:
Fairies could pick a court (Seelie vs. Unseelie) and have access to one of two spell branches with light or dark spells.
An elemental specialization/type that comes with appropriate buffs/weaknesses.
Wings! A dedicated wing slot!
A floating/flying walk type!
A "miniature" fairy world would just be stupid fun. Like I would lose my mind over a neighborhood full of comically oversized items with buildings made out of, like, tea tins and animal cracker boxes. A real A Bug's Life vibe. I know it isn't feasible because you'd get random human townies walking through breaking the immersion, but God, can you imagine the build/buy catalogue? Chairs made of thread spools, toadstool tables, acorn cap bowls. It would be so. Cute.
I would kill for an Amy Brown-esque CAS catalogue.
And of course I'd bring back auras, powers, and tricks from Sims 3.
Honestly, for mermaids, aside from getting a proper perk tree, I'd really just like to have more style options for them other than tropical. Of all the mermaid aesthetics tropical is my least favorite.
If I could personally redesign mermaids I'd give them their own dedicated pack, with a pirate/mermaid lagoon world in the style of David Delamare. (* Nudity warning.) Just a dreamy, fantasy-heavy coastal world. If part of it could be underwater with buildable underwater lots for mermaids that would be aces. (Again, not feasible, I'm sure, but like...it would just be so neat.)
Build/Buy and CAS would be golden-age-of-pirates era nautical mixed with Little Mermaid-style aquatic pieces; shipwreck furniture, giant clam shell beds, gold and pearl accents. Puffy shirts and some cool flowy, glittery mermaid clothes.
Also, I want leg scales back. (Some gills and finger webbing would be fabulous, too.) Occults are most fun when they look visibly occult, damn it.
