Ooo, if no one's asked about it already, can I hear about the Sci-Fi Buddy Series?

Oh, you have made me so happy by asking that! And I think this is a book you'd like! The Sci-Fi Buddy Series features three main characters who are thrown together to become unlikely companions. One of them is the cocky captain of a beat-up spaceship, a wannabe ladies' man. He has a sidekick--his best friend and copilot, a quiet, solid, steady guy with a lot of muscle. The adventure starts when a female mechanic is accidentally shanghaied to become a stowaway aboard their ship. The three of them team up to go on a few adventures together in a series of short, serial episodes. I only have the first one planned in full, but the sequels are going to be fun too. They might feature a few crossovers with characters from my other short sci-fi adventure books. I came up with the idea for the Sci-Fi Buddy Series one morning when I was half asleep, after I had a dream about Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the Millennium Falcon--with the addition of the stowaway. It was during Camp NaNoWriMo in 2020. I planned it all in my head in bed and then feverishly wrote down the first scene that morning before breakfast. I've been thinking about it lately and occasionally working on it. I'd like to finish drafting it at some point. Thanks for the ask, @tsfennec!

honestly none LOL, my parents didn't really let me play sports because I have a heart condition. But I sometimes shoot hoops with my siblings, and I bike

Yeah, but honestly not as much as I'd like LOL. I tend to be more sarcastic when I'm annoyed tho

What is the first thing you notice about people?:

Their vibes?? I don't know how to explain it LOL, but like just the vibes they give off and whether I think we'd get along or not LOL

What's your eye color?:

Really dark brown! You need to see it in sunlight to really see how it looks though

Scary movies or happy endings?:

Scary movies are fun, but I'm gonna have to go with happy endings! And not just because they make me feel happy lol. I just have a deeper, more nuanced love for happy endings while scary movies are just for fun

Any talents?:

I mean, I think I'm decently musically gifted (and the only reason I know this is because I've never really had any lessons LOL). But I definitely think there's an experience aspect to it. I'd also like to believe I have some talent in writing and photography, although I'm more confident in saying that they're skills I have instead 🤣

Writing, reading, photography, doodling, lettering

We have the family dog, a dachsund named Lila!

Last Song I Listened To: I'm listening right now to Wishing Girl by Lola Marsh! I love the vibes of it.

Currently Watching: Tale of the Nine-tailed: 1938. It's so much fun, and I'm actually impressed how they're handling a second season, when the first season wrapped up so well. I especially love that it's focusing on the love between the two brothers, and on friendships.

Currently Reading: I started Past Master by R.A. Lafferty; it hasn't really pulled me in yet, though. Sci-fi is difficult for me to get into, and I recently finished two other Catholic sci-fi books, so I may just need some time to recuperate XD. I just finished reading Wet Behind the Ears by W.R. Gingell, and will probably be commencing a reread of the City Between series in another week or so (I swear I reread it every few months). Oh! And I've been reading the current manga adaptation of Unlimited Blade Works off and on, which is fun.

Current Obsession: Currently? Probably finishing Tale of the Nine-tailed and getting some actual writing done. (So far I've made...some progress on three WIPs. They're very different worlds, which helps, I think, because I can just rotate between them. We'll see.) In particular, I want more mythology content for In the Garden of An, but I would have to write it, and also it's not really relevant to the actual story, and it's more like...I don't have enough to actually craft a story, just vague concepts.

Favorite Color 🎨: Purple in many shades, especially lavender and blue-toned purples.

Last Book 📕: The Realm Beneath, a new multi-author anthology of undersea fantasy short stories edited by Allison Tebo. Before that, I spent six weeks reading Sense and Sensibility for the first time.

Last Movie 🍿: How to Train Your Dragon 3, yesterday with my sister. (My first time watching it--it took me forever because I wasn't originally sure I'd like it. I did like it.)

Last TV show 📺: I don't watch TV shows often. The last time I watched an episode of a show was probably when I watched an episode of Sue Thomas: Season 3 back in October, in an attempt to finish my favorite show that I still haven't finished. (I just don't have time for shows.)

Sweet/Spicy/Savory 🍔: Savory or mildly sweet. (I like savory meals. For health reasons, I shouldn't be eating anything even mildly sweet, besides fresh fruit, but I just can't resist. I don't like things that are too sweet.)

Current obsession 🌀: Perennial obsessions are Broadway's Anastasia, everything by The Logos Theatre (live stage productions, including excellent Narnia adaptations), Megan Whalen Turner's Queen's Thief series, Narnia, and my old favorites J. R. R. Tolkien and Rosemary Sutcliff.

Last thing I searched 🔎: I searched for GIFs of my favorite movies for a tag challenge, and I also searched for a certain historical artifact 1830s gown for a different post.

Looking forward to 👀: Going to see the Logos Theatre live stage production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (hopefully this spring and maybe this fall), and going to the beach for our first family vacation in a long time (a few months from now).

Just got a new iPad, so I finally have Procreate! And as my also-new ring splints are helping with hand pain... behold, my first finished piece in over a year! \o/

Success! Thank you, @tsfennec! She suggested simply cropping the image before uploading it, and that is definitely what it needed. There was a lot of extra space in the original photo.

I'm relieved my head is no longer cut off. This image represents me online (though it's not my art), and it's never shown up properly on Tumblr. Now it does! I feel like I can finally meet you all properly now that my avatar is corrected.

I've been having a problem with my avatar icon since I joined Tumblr. The image won't let me center it or drag it to where it needs to be, and it cuts off the head of the figure in my photo. When I try to correct it, it just bounces back to the way it was before. Has anyone else had this problem? I've just assumed there's no help for it, but I'd appreciate help from anyone who can give it. It looks like this:

I don't really care if it's centered or not, as long as it doesn't cut off the head of the person in my avatar.

Re: your recent post mentioning how much you enjoy marriages of convenience/enemies-to-lovers type situations... I don't know if you've read much by Georgette Heyer, but her aptly titled The Convenient Marriage seems like it'd be right up your alley. I know I very much enjoyed it.
