You have no idea how long it took me to find this script genuinely went through the trenches I now share it with the world for all who have Oil Movie Brainrot to enjoy

was trying to think of natural disasters that would trigger this plot into motion and then I realized that Eli is named after Eli in twbb who owns a goat farm and that movie takes place in california and that california has like 50 wildfires per year it seems like and then I realized that Eli and the rest of the goats probably watched like half of their other farm animals burn to death and then I laughed out loud because holy crap that's awful but it also raises the stakes and I'm crying because why on earth am I incapable of writing anything even remotely lighthearted like in my head this script was going to be a comedy because the whole premise was that it's about GOATS doing power struggle and conspiracy in a lord of the flies type of scenario which is objectively funny and I was just throwing brain feces at the wall in order to get my last assignment done in time but this is absolutely still a comedy to me it's just that I KNOW from past experience that I'm gonna turn this in and the rest of the class is gonna read it like watership down and not know why I'm laughing at it as they read it and (dies before I can continue typing incoherent thoughts)

I live in Little Boston near the oil well. My name is Daniel Plainview, this is my son and partner HW Plainview. I'm an oilman. I’m 50 (?) years old. I believe in taking care of myself, with a diet of steak and vodka and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll splash some water on it before I start the day's drilling. I have over a thousand wells producing now. After I shake the water off my face I don't use a deep pore cleanser lotion. Not like that stupid little preacher with his feminine skin care routine. In the shower he uses a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then he applies an herb-mint facial masque which he leave on for 10 minutes while I'm working hard, like a man, drilling oil wells. I always use have a drink with at least 40% alcohol, because that's just who I am. Then I get started with the drilling, then I beat up that dumb preacher again followed by a passionate session of making out with him. There is an idea of a Daniel Plainview. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

IMDb says that the PTA + DDL movie is set for 2017... DOES THAT MEAN WE FINALLY GET TO SEE THEM THIS YEAR OR

Well, according to the reports the production will beginearly this year and the movie will be out at the end of 2017. However I do havea concern considering we have yet to hear any news about the production, thefilming or even the script. Heck, we still don’t have the title of the movie orwhat it’s about except that it’s a fashion drama set in London (earlier reportssaid it was New York, so idk)! I heard accounts of PTA roaming in London latelast year but I haven’t seen any DDL’s transformation yet. The last time I sawhim he looked like normal average dad. No super crazy moustache or wild beardor anything. Ofc, we don’t know who his character is. We have no details! But Ithink it will be nice if it will be released on the 10th yearanniversary of TWBB. Also I have sufferedenough waiting for DDL’s comeback, please don’t make me wait another year.

The Eli and Mary relationship. There is a lot to be said about brother/brother violence and Cain and Abel conflict in the movie, basically the whole movie revolves around fratricidal violence, Eli and Paul, Daniel and “Henry”, Daniel and Eli (brothers by marriage.)

But the brother/sister conflict between Eli and Mary is interesting too. If we consider canon the script and book ages of Eli and Paul, Eli was the younger son “favored” by God over his older brother like in the Biblical narrative of Jacob and Esau. He guarded his position jealously. But Eli in the movie canon fears that Mary, the youngest sister will be chosen instead, if not by God, by capitalism, represented by Daniel while he is forsaken.

So he tries to cling to his role as older brother who is meant to control her and set her on the right path, he feels that he cannot hate her in the way he does Paul, he resorts to paternalism and the idea that isolating her would be for her own good and it might be even justified why he would have concerns about her interacting with the Plainviews but when he is conditioning her to call Daniel a devil in the script it’s clearly also because he is resentful.
