Do prime souls fall into the same category as humans for the machines in your au? Like would they be seen as human beings or something else?
It's difficult to know since prime souls are...souls...

The parallels in Ultrakill between Life and the Afterlife, man.. The Machines aren't unlike Hell Itself. Both are beings of insatiable hunger. Both experience unending boredom. Both yearn for violence as a relief from it all, and both spread their influence like a cancer upon everything. Perhaps this is why Hell almost seems to welcome machines deeper into itself. Not only are they entertaining - their cruelty inspires it, or whoever carves the demons that are at it's disposal. Both were created by the hands of another, a once superior being they have surpassed and outlived. Perhaps it sees them as kindred. Sees them as something symbiotic, both alike in purpose - to enact violence on those trapped within itself. Both could stand eternal together - after all, plenty of blood to go around, plenty of meat for the grinder, no? Does it realize they'll just keep feeding until there's nothing left? Does it think it can stop them? Does it want to be wiped clean? If it hungers, is it afraid to die? The machines certainly are. This whole crusade is about delaying the inevitable. As long as there is a Machine left standing in Hell, it is fated to run dry. All that would be left is an empty carcass filled with nothing but monuments to cruelty, frozen in time forever with no audience left to appraise them.
Angels, meanwhile, are not so different from humanity in their ways. From what little we know of them, they, too, are full of arrogance and hubris just like humanity, that built the machine that devoured it's creator and went on to devour itself. Hell seems to be the cause of Heaven's fracture. It is the root of the Father's guilt. It's creation set His eventual disappearance in motion. It snuffed the fire out, directly or indirectly. And without guidance, Heaven split and began to consume itself in cruel war. The only thing that kept Heaven from sharing Earth's fate is the Council, that took advantage of the chaos and swiftly took control and unified the Angels once again. But that doesn't mean they put a stop to Heaven's cruelty - in fact, I'd argue they only stoked the flame, kept those beneath them complacent through fear. But at least Heaven regained structure, though it seems like it's a mere shell of what it used to be. The Father is gone. They follow an echo, a memory - or perhaps simply a lie. Still, it's a necessary lie, no? An almost noble one? It's not, of course, at most it's a lesser evil compared to the inferno of warfare, but is there really any other alternative? When Gabriel slaughtered them and showed the rest of Heaven their weakness, did he really do what was right? Heaven had no hand to guide them anymore. It was severed. All that's left is a bloodied stump. How long will it take before the rot spreads, before Heaven erupts into warfare once more? Gabriel can't stop it - he'll be dead soon. If he - one of the most respected and revered angels in the highest ranks - cannot stop the chaos, who can? There's no one left. No one will trust the empty promises of order ever again, seeing how easy it is to destroy.

The world will eat itself out of existence. This is the only way it should end. There is no other way it could end. It's all too far gone. What would be left would either starve and join it's brethren in stillness, or eviscerate itself in one final act of violence. No final words. No concluding statement. No point. Perfect closure.

ATICGTY: An Ultrakill fanfic
thought I'd post about this here, cus why not, ya know?
ATICGTY, or 'All that I can give to you' is an ultrakill fanfic I started working on in late 2024. I haven't updated it much lately, but I thought I might as well promote it somewhere, here seems to be a good spot for it.
I won't spoil anything past chapter 1, all I will say is that Hell isn't as bad as its potrayed in canon. Here's the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/60276571/chapters/153821110
Hope you enjoy it, maybe I'll start work on the next chapter again soon? Only time will tell I suppose. >~<

funny headcannon about ultrakill. So the machines are at some level sentient and sapient. I like to think this isn't because of the whole hell thing but rather because humans realized coding couldn't really replace human instincts and ingenuity so a push towards true artificial intelligence was made. And during this push humans put a lot of love into their creations till it finally worked. It's why hell needed to take direct control of the machines. It's like that meme of how the robot revolution would happen because someone cut the funding to the robots scientist mom.
sorry I'm going a little crazy about the idea.
Also imagine rovers in this universe. Curiosity is excited to do it's job and misses it's creators while on mars. I don't really care if this doesn't work with the timeline.

Actually, we don't talk enough about the Prelude. What even is the Prelude?
Yes, it's the pathway to Hell, but it's not like it's a tunnel straight to Limbo. Neither does is strike me as a kind of military fortification.
No, there are massive shredders, pistons, pipes. That's a factory. But what is it producing? Not machines, there's not a single assembly line there.
Well, I think it's blood. Think about it: It's the great peace, but we know for a fact that humanity is still actively using the blood fueled machines. They just reprogrammed them for civilian purposes. But there is no war anymore, so where do you get the blood to power machines with?
Answer: Demons.
Those hellish rocks are real juicy. And aren't human. So why not make a factory where giant shredders crush Mauricy into peaces and pistons then squeeze all the blood out, to be transported by pipes up for machine consumption? Makes sense to me. Why else would there be such rivers of stale blood, the likes of which we are yet to see even in Hell proper?
Qestion though, why then are so many Cerbery there, just chilling? And humans probably couldn't put demon watchers to guard the last door to Hell. But, it's not like any humans use this facility right now. And judging by all the teleporting, it long have since been claimed by the sapient Hell as another layer.
Ironic, how not only did humanity manage to add an entire new level to God's creation, but that the layer they added is the most soulless and mechanized of them all. And how seeking to continue greasing gears of their mechanisms with blood, humans opened the gates of Hell, both figuratively and literally.

i love how u see hell’s artistic evolution through the demons as u go through the different ranks
maurices are simplistic sculpted head spider things but the demons get more and more complex. cerberus is an obvious reference to the thinker showing hell’s clear fascination with art. mannequins resemble sculptures and are inspired by the brutality of the guttermen and its so cool how hell is like inspired by humanity in a fucked up way. leviathan’s heart resembles edvard munch’s the scream as well.
the hideous masses have the creation of adam grafted onto them and is prob one of hell’s first works that has like a personal message. when the hideous mass mass awakens, it tears adam away from god illustrating how like in ultrakill’s world there was a clear divide between the divine and the mortal which have like free will.
the minotaur is probably hell’s first artpiece and its one dedicated to an acquaintance or at least someone hell tried to reach out to. its beautiful but deeply misrepresents minos. i see alot of people saying that this is just hell tormenting minos but by the terminal entry i feel its more of a misunderstanding. hell is built for violence and suffering and the only way it could connect with someone like minos was through that sense of violence and carnage, i feel like it was an earnest attempt to form a bond.
besides that i feel like its beautiful that hell sees itself in the earthmovers. its highly implied that the red text in 7-4 was written by hell as it has its signature, and i feel like this was an attempt for hell to give the earthmovers an eulogy that they’ve never received. it sees itself in these loveless creatures born to cause suffering and it empathises with them to an extent and i think thats beautiful
i feel like too many people see hell as like a mr mcevil character. while it does have agency and intelligence, we cant forget the blorbo was literally built as a sentient torment nexus fuckshittery machine. the fact that despite being this child of god born to cause suffering, hell still tries to forge bonds and also empathises with the earthmover is deeply beautiful.
