i don't know if anybody else who's been fed 'underconsumption core' videos by the algorithm (love them, great fucking way to say fuck you to the current of consumerism permeating everything. keep em coming!) is ticked off by the choice of word 'under'consumption?
by using the word 'under' it's kinda still holding up consumption as normative. like it's got connotations similar to undereating, of 'not enough', of missing a mark.
personally i'm leaning more towards the rejection of consumerism, so i'd vote for it to be called anticonsumption core instead

Out thrifting and look who found me? It even has her little pink paws and nose 🎀
I didn’t buy it bc I have nowhere to put figurines, but it was a sweet surprise to see out and about.🤍🪽

This video has really interesting points about underconsumption as a trend, like the mental health aspect of being just one click away from a shiny new thing, and how it needs the choice to be a trend as not being able to buy something because of circumstances is still frowned upon. Also there was commentary about how we have replaced communities by consumerism that I haven't really thought about but now that it has been pointed out I can't unsee.

Gaste menos na decoração com Underconsumption Core
Tumblr media
Algumas dicas reduzir gastos:

Last-minute sales, limited-time offers and half-off deals can be hard to resist for some holiday shoppers. This season, Americans were projected to spend seven percent more than 2023. But a social media trend is urging eager consumers to hit pause before pressing the purchase button.

idk what's worse, the fact that a kid born in 2009 is in high school or that I still regularly wear a baby blue tshirt that says "orchestra camp 2009" on it

An update!
I finished up the lotion bottle (finally)
And I've used up two out of the five mini perfumes (no surprises there, they're tiny, half used and don't last long at all)
Replacing it on my list of things to use up is a half used facial cleanser for oily skin that my mom got for free and gave to me to use.
Wish me luck! 🍀
I have nowhere else to document this so here we go:
Gonna do a no-buy for makeup, skin and body care products because I tend to hoard and stock up without realising 😭 and I get gifted makeup that I haven't used up.
I've been meaning to go through things but with college being college I haven't actually done much. And now that it's a new year, I'm making it a mission of mine.
So this is going to be my formal attempt at using up what I have properly for about two months minimum (I might need to buy some necessary products like sunscreen by then)
Goal: use up as much of the half used things I've got.
The stuff I'm going to tackle first (and document) are:
• a few mini perfumes that I got as a gift (very small, and the smell doesn't last so they'll be the first to go lol)
• a small hand cream thats half used
•my old b&bw rose lotion (only about a third left in it so it shouldn't be hard)
•a lipbalm (I have a lipbalm addiction and have collected wayyyy too many so I have to stick to one and finish it😭) I'm going with a Nivea lip balm
• an almost empty tub of aloe vera gel (I use it pretty regularly but I need to make sure I use it,cuz I already got a replacement 😞)
I've technically got much more to tackle but these are what I'm going to document for now 💪🏻 I'll update this at the end of the month and whenever I finish one of the products on the list!!
