woah this is a very interesting question, i'm very glad you asked it.

dandelions! they are ely's flower: they grow around their grave, blow in the wind in important scenes for them, and also get stuck to lyric's clothes constantly. they represent their desires and childhood wonders and wishes

sheep vs wolf vs livestock guard dog. both ely and hannah hate sheep. ely's family were shepherds, and the existence of their herd represented everything they hated about their life and themselves (following what someone else decided for them, submision, helplessness). similarly, hannah calls seers (and by extension everyone else) sheep for following what destiny tells them. but while ely eventually becomes the wolf (they befriend Sorrow when it's in its wolf form), hannah turns into a livestock guard dog (tries to help lyric fight against his destiny). the fls is also called the shepherd of the lost souls

ely's red knit hat. this is more of a in world symbolism. kid ely used to wear it until they became a teenager and were forced to show off their hair. they later recover it after the fls is freed

i also use some visual symbolism shortcuts when i draw for up. hannah's illustrations often feature her with her figure half lighted (in one of my favorites she has her back to the light), lots of crow feathers and dandelions too. a broken stone throne for lyric, ely's eyes being hidden by their hood, obscuring lyric's face to only show his scar, this statue, so much color red (and black and dark blue)

Studio Sessions

Between writing albums, I find I have all these small ideas that don't fit the album proper. I want to work on these in conjunction with an album.

The Teaser Mixtape is really the studio sessions for my next untitled project. All those songs were short, but I began writing full-length songs for the next studio sessions.

Some of my studio sessions for the next tape are already on YouTube. The Dim Sheep and the Dim Light are two. I felt like I wanted to tease the future ahead of time. I also wanted to keep the Dim Tim name with my music.

I am focusing on other ventures outside of music, too. I have two projects I am working on. The first is a creative guide similar to Rick Rubin's book. The second is a fictional tale that I will share closer to its release.

The 15th year anniversary of my music career is next year. I got ideas to celebrate and cannot wait to share them. I want to make music videos from all throughout my career. I am going to post verse videos of some of my older material. I am also going to drop a project more in line with my origins. Then, I will end the anniversary with a big album.

I am also going to publish a memoir about my music career. It is titled Complete Honesty Memoir.

Untitled Sheep Project: Vegan Cheese and Wine

CW for mature, semi-explicit beginning. Nothing is described in detail, nothing is actually sexy, but stuff is happening. 

This is an original story in project I’m working on. I’d love to hear any feedback or if anyone enjoys it! It was posted initially on my patreon where I’m gradually building this project up! 

“We’re going to be late.”

“I know, my darling, but it ruins the mood when you keep saying it, and that’s just going to make us even more late.”

Cherry Bomb knew that when she focused too hard on maintaining her arousal, it made the whole situation that much less sexy. Once she felt herself start to lose it, she couldn’t force herself back into the proper mindset. She had to think about what was sexy about looking down at her bored partner propped up on pillows, doing the bare minimum to help her out.

And then her thoughts wandered to what she had to do after: laundry, shopping, meeting a client. In this case, she thought about how she had to shave her legs and how she should really try to put on a little makeup. Then, she thought about what her newest step-sister would look like, and while she had no hard feelings about the woman, she did feel a sense of competition whenever they were going to be in the same room.

She thought about Peggy’s usual well-lined lipstick and neat eye shadow. She owned expensive, luxury brand makeup from across the globe while Cherry Bomb bought most of her makeup at Boots and let it expire in her bathroom before she managed to use even half of it. If she were lucky, her mascara wouldn’t be dried up and clumpy yet.

“Fuck it.”

They lost it.

She climbed off and crawled off the side of the bed, picking her panties off the floor and pulling them back on for the walk to the bathroom. Richard lifted his hands in defeat and threw the sheets off himself.

“I’m glad we wasted our time with that,” he said.

“Don’t start with any of that,” Cherry Bomb mumbled. “Let’s just get ready.”

And half an hour later, when she heard the unmistakable sound of him jerking off in the shower as she left the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, she said nothing.

Vegan cheese turned out to taste not much different than dairy cheese, but it was just different enough for Cherry Bomb. She sipped her Spanish rosado wine to wash away the taste of the fake ricotta, and then scraped her tongue on her back teeth to get the coating of sweetness off.

Perhaps if she had been to an actual cheese and wine tasting before, she would know what to compare the vegan option to. Perhaps if she had a more refined palette, she would be able to make better conversation about it.

Her father, meanwhile, spoke about his latest research with the colleagues they had met. They droned on about studies and their results and gave little teasers about what they were going to present.

“You know,” Richard said, keeping his voice low. “The bar has other drinks.”

Cherry Bomb looked over at the bar that stretched across the back corner of the room, partially hidden by the crowd. Servers were leaving with trays of wine and individual people were gathering for hard liquor breaks. She waited for a lull in discussion.

“We’re going to step out for a smoke,” she said.

“Neither of you smoke,” her father said.

“We’re hoping that someone out there might peer-pressure us into it.”

She grabbed Richard’s wrist and pulled him away as he explained that they were just looking for fresh air after their many glasses of wine.

With her generous glass of whiskey and his generous glass of tequila, they stepped outside onto the empty patio. Groups hovered around the garden, smoking and making conversation. Maybe even gossiping about those around them.

Cherry Bomb took a moment to admire Richard. He was in a jumper she insisted he wear because the dark red looked so nice against his complexion and hair. That and she believed that a pale top would be a bad idea for a wine tasting—just in case of accidents. She reached up to re-tuck his white collar into his jumper.

“Can we talk about earlier?” he asked.

Cherry Bomb shrugged and took a sip of her drink. The stinging oakiness to it was a welcomed change from the sweetness of the wines that still clung to her tongue. The flavors did mix horrifically for a moment, but the next sip was that of strong liquor only.

“What should we talk about?” she asked.

“I think it might be time we talk to someone—”

Cherry Bomb cringed. Sex therapy was never something she wanted. She had always associated it with other people—people who had run out of options and were unable to communicate anymore. They were the people her father studied and wrote books and essays on. They were the fake names that appeared in studies next to stories about their failing marriages and deep parental issues.

“I don’t think it’s come to that just yet,” she said. “I don’t want to waste anyone’s time when there’s people who genuinely need that help. Besides, what are they going to tell us that we haven’t read on our own?”

“A lot.”

“I don’t think we need to resort to a therapist.”

“We’ve been having problems for nearly a year,” Richard whispered. “And it is multiple problems at this point. I’m keeping a list.”

“Then, let’s wait until it’s been a full year, okay? If February comes, and we’re still having problems, then I promise you that we can start looking for people. I’ll ask my dad if anyone he knows is taking new patients.”

“And that’s another thing we need to talk about. I don’t want your father involved in our sex life. If we do it, I don’t want him to know.”

“That’s reasonable, and I will respect your boundaries. We can Google it like other people.”

Richard smiled down at her. He looked far too sweet to deny anything. She wanted to cup his cheeks and pull him down for a kiss on the forehead, but she refrained.

Cherry Bomb watched the people around them. They all looked very posh with swanky dresses and suits and jewelry. But they also all looked the same, obsessed with being perceived as successful and upper class but not wanting to go too far as to look as if they were bragging. Though they definitely were bragging. The dress codes of the upper-middle class were all about being just relatable enough to people below them while also signaling to those above them that they had taste and money to spend as well. It was a balancing act in a circus of classism.  

Cherry Bomb counted only a few women without dyed-brunette, chemically straightened up-dos and two men in blue suits that they were trying so hard to look casual in. They swung their drinks around and pursed their lips and rolled their eyes.

It was who her father had become. Obsessed with appearing not out-of-touch but then flipping a switch once he safely could complain about how much he lost to taxes that year and how his gardener did a poor job planting new bushes.

The patio door swung open. Cherry Bomb looked over her shoulder to see Peggy scan the room before spotting them. Cherry Bomb swallowed the rest of her drink, clearing her throat after.

“I can’t blame you for wanting to get away.” Peggy walked to their side. She smiled at Cherry Bomb. “Your father is a brilliant man, but I cannot, for the life of me, follow what they’re talking about.”

Her eyeliner was perfect. It was a nostalgic style—something that would have fit in in the 1990s and went around her entire eye—and it fit her well. Just like her lipstick and foundation and dress. She wasn’t attractive in the conventional way. Her nose was a bit wide, and her face was more square than most women would have liked theirs to be. But that made her all the more attractive, Cherry Bomb thought. It made her unique, and she seemed to know it judging by how she held herself with so much confidence.

Or maybe she believed that she didn’t need to be attractive. That for her, looks were truly superficial and she had found happiness in her work and personality and social life and it had all reflected back out to give her a clear complexion and a few beautiful, silver wisps of hair.

“Imagine being raised by him,” Cherry Bomb said. “My bedtime stories were about debunking the Oedipus complex—he wanted to start me off with the Introduction to Psych basics.”

Peggy laughed. Cherry Bomb laughed, too, only because the liquor and wine she had had were all catching up to her and making her head float above her shoulders. Laughing made sense to her. Richard pressed his hand into her waist, and it felt distant.

“I’m leaving in a few minutes,” Peggy continued. “I just wanted to say goodbye.”

Cherry Bomb leaned in for a half-hug and a cheek kiss she would never give anyone else.

Richard leaned in for an awkward hug. Peggy wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed tight, though it wasn’t reciprocated in the slightest. She hummed as she pulled away and smiled up at him, letting her hands rest on his shoulders.

Maybe Peggy wasn’t that great.

“I’ll see you later, yeah?” she said.

She walked off the patio and back into the event room. Her heels clicked the entire way.

“That was a bit weird, wasn’t it?” Richard asked. “I didn’t imagine that?”

“No. No, it was weird.”

Six Sentence Sunday

thanks to everyone who has tagged me over the week! i'm sort of back from my holiday (taking a break from travelling to go to my local city's pride today, then going to Manchester for 3 days) but here's something from my post-troy wip from a little while ago i never shared.

i should probably stop tagging it 'untitled post troy project' since it basically is titled at this point, (i'n calling it Andromache's Child) but then i would have to go through and re-tag everything, and i just don't have the patience, so we're sticking with it.

it's Astyanax's POV, basically he keeps lucid dreaming scenes from the fall of Troy. this is when he sees his mother, trying to hide him from the Greeks. unfortunately, it doesn't work.

This time, when I smell smoke, I’m prepared to open my eyes and find myself within Troy, burning down around me. So I am surprised to find myself in a pitch dark room, the smell only a faint tinge in the still air. A loud scraping noise rumbles behind me, and I turn towards the sound, a slant of light spilling down stone steps and stopping inches before my feet. I follow it up to see a woman open the heavy stone door, pushing with all her might, one arm preoccupied with holding something, cradling whatever it is, swaddled in blankets, close.

She gets the door far enough open to slip through, and no further. I can’t make out her features in the dark, as she rushes down the stairs and towards me, pausing just before me, staring at me almost in bewilderment, though I know she can’t really see me.

I need to talk about the third Planes film so please look!

Listen, it is pretty late for me and I am too lazy to retype everything so this is what I typed @his-hippie’s server.

And you are probably wondering why I bring this up. Well I’m here to speak why.

I found this old release schedule photo i had while looking to change my lock screen and it reminded me of stuff.

This was an old release schedule for Disney and Pixar films that came from 2017 and this was official bc I found that schedule from a video on YouTube talking about the new animated projects presented at D23 in 2017. This came from 2017 which explains that most films on the list are untitled films. Now look at the feature film listed on that list that I highlighted in red. As you can see that is the only film by Disneytoon Studios for the release schedule.

Which Disney animation studio shut down in 2018? Disneytoons.

As what can be told it is clear that that film was supposed to be the third Planes film that we never got.

To put this into a timeline for the Planes franchise:

2013- Planes

2014- Planes: Fire and Rescue

2017- Announcement of the third film at D23 because it was described as an untitled film set in the World of Cars which implied that it’s the third movie in the franchise. It was also announced that this film was going to be done under Disneytoon Studios and has a release date of April 12th, 2019

Early 2018- This film was removed from the release schedule for unexplained reasons

Late 2018- The studio shut down officially canceling all production on this film and all other possible projects that could’ve been and send off about 75 animators and people who worked at Disneytoons.

2019- No movie from Disneytoons came out in theaters.

I watched both Brother Bear and Brother Bear 2 since it’s been a while since I last saw these films. At the end of the second film it showed the Disneytoon Studios Logo and it reminded me that Disney decided to kill this animation studio and pretends it doesn’t exist to this day in fact. It angers me because a lot of the films made by the studio are a part of so many people’s childhoods. Mine included.

Going back to my old post from August about how Disney + should add a separate section for Disneytoon Studios and their films, I feel this adds up. If you haven’t seen that post, here it is.

It also really upsets me to consider that this third film we could’ve gotten was probably one of the last projects at Disneytoons before it’s shut down in 2018.

Another thing that makes me upset, that Disneytoons was probably considered the black sheep of Disney animation becuase it wasn’t at Walt Disney Animation Studios or at Pixar level but the studio still made good content.

I’m pretty tired but I’m sure you get the gist.

Victoria Justice and Adam Demos Set for Netflix Rom-Com

Victoria Justice and Adam Demos, the star of the break-out Netflix series Sex/Life, are set to star in a new Netflix rom-com from the writers behind the streamer’s past feature Falling Inn Love and Love, Guaranteed.

Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy penned the untitled project that follows “a hard-driving LA wine-company exec that travels to an Australian sheep station, where she ends up working as a ranch hand and sparking with a rugged local.”

Stuart McDonald, whose credits include Summer Heights High and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, will direct.

Robyn Snyder, Deborah Evans, Deborah Glover, and Tracey Vieira will produce, with Tracey Robertson, Nathan Mayfield, Elizabeth Hackett, Hilary Galanoy, and Fernando Szew executive producing. The film will be shot on location in Queensland, Australia, where it will be supported by the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.

Justice, who is repped by UTA and Jackoway Austen, will next be seen as the lead of the Netflix feature Afterlife of the Party. Demos, who co-starred with Christina Milian in Falling Inn Love, is repped by Innovative Artists and Untitled Entertainment.

Longfic Update

Ahahaha, okay. So. I know it’s been about forever and a day since I last posted an update, and there are a lot of reasons for that, but mostly they boil down to “this isn’t good enough/enough progress to post about” with a small dash of “does anyone actually want these, tho?”

And then I realized that even if no one else does, in fact, want updates or is interested in them at all, stopping to actually reflect and take stock of what I’ve gotten done is valuable for me as a writer. So I’m bringing these back.

As of May 19th, 2020, here’s where things stand:

Project: Arranged Marriage fic (In Parts and Pieces) Written: 40.4k (+2.6k since last update) Location: end of chapter 13 of approx 34.

Project: Yoga AU (untitled, unposted) Written: 13.6k (+2k) Location: on scene 2 of 5 in chapter 3 of 3. The end is in sight, but this has been a slow-cooker of a project since I started it 3yrs ago.

Project: Part 3 of the Peter Hale, RA Series  Written: 1.6k Location: Early in, but the third and final installment of this series isn’t likely to be super long. I expect it to clock in between 5 and 10k when all’s said and done.

Project: Kinky Stargent (not broken, she’s just a baby) Written: 12.3k (+4k) Location: beginning of chapter 4 of ?

Project: RA AU (untitled, unposted) Written: 18.2k (+2k) Location: partway through chapter 5 of 8-9.

Project: Fucked Up Fic (untitled, unposted) Written: 9.2k Location: I’m in the home stretch now, which is less encouraging than it sounds because this was only ever supposed to be a quick lil 2-3k short project where I worked out my feelings through fiction. You’d think I’d know better by now.

Right Here is a short (>1k) Derek/Chris fic that was written for MrsRidcully Another HFO series fic (just under 1k) was posted The Usual Suspects is a 3.7k Stetopher fic I wrote with Bunnywest and DiscontentedWinter for the lovely MrsRidcully Here Comes The Bride -- a 13.7k Chris/Lydia piece Bunny and I wrote for Winter. I’m also working on a sequel/spinoff of one of Winter’s amazing epics, which is currently clocking in at 2.7k.

The horde of unposted fic is clocking in at about 73.5k, and, no, I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. Please don’t ask.

1. How many are you happy with?

I’m actually pretty happy with them all, I generally agggggoooooooonize over fic titles and don’t like to post if I’m not happy with them. 

2. How many are…not great?

I suppose Talk Dirty to Me is a little on the nose, but it fits the fic, goddamnit, so yes. 

3. How many did you scramble for at the last minute?

Four that I can remember, with the greatest scramble being reserved for my latest, The Edge of Glory . . . legit spent an hour losing my mind trying to find the right title, putting Spotify on scramble and looking up song lyrics, poems and the like before my brain was like GAGA SAVES, Y’ALL

4. How many did you know before you started writing/creating, or near the beginning?

Twelve, that I can remember. I often get an idea after listening to a song or having a title pop into my head and create a fic from there, and life is so much easier that way.

5. How many are quotes from songs or poems?

10 are direct song titles, because I am fucking lazy and also because of answer number 4. Into the Shallow was inspired by Shallow because GAGA SAVES Y’ALL. Three Chords and the Truth is a quote from All Along The Watchtower as told by U2. Nexus could technically be lifted from Astronomy by Metallica, as that was the first time I ever heard of that fucking word and I was like now that is a fancy word, I must keep that close to my chest for future use. But I do often incorporate the titles into the actual fics too, just so I look like I’m making an effort.

6. How many are other quotes?

So Tonight That I Might See is an album title chosen to link to an older fic, Lost in Translation was stolen from the movie of the same name for asshole reasons, Reading is Fundamental came from me scouring SPN episode titles, and Livewire, Moonlight and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth are quotes (or single words...) from the fics themselves.

7. Which best reflects the plot of the story/content of the fanwork?

Oh boy, um. I’m terrible answering shit like this. Maybe Nexus, as the entire plot is built around these two knuckleheads trying to find a supposed lost connection (and so much more...)? Also, Talk Dirty to Me, because . . . well, I think one can figure out what takes place in that fic. 

8. Which best reflects the theme of the story?

Icarus, mostly due to plans for additional chapters that I never was quite able to realize. It’s the whole flying to close to the sun thing, or caaaaaaareful Icarus, as Craigy Ferguson might say.

9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/pov of the fanwork?

Three come to mind. Livewire, because the narrating character is just that and that comes through at numerous points within the fic, Somewhere A Clock is Ticking because there’s an inevitability, I think, that Edge recognizes, as though they’ve both been watching that clock tick away, knowing once it reaches a certain point that it’s time to stop resisting, and Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums (which I am determined to finish, but life got in the way) because jesus christ, that is Barry Berkman/Block all the fuck over. 

10. Which is your favourite title?

Somewhere A Clock is Ticking, NO WAIT, ICARUS, NO, LIVEWIRE, I CAN’T CHOOSE, DON’T MAKE ME CHOOSE, CAN’T I PICK SOMETHING THAT ISN’T FROM THE LAST 20 FICS? because that way, I’d totally pick The Love That Was More Strong Than Any Love Had Ever Been or For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky or Presenting "Untitled Robert Downey Jr/Tina Fey Project" Starring Robert Downey Jr and Tina Fey. (This Film Is Not Yet Rated) or The Father: Or (quam vilis et didici vide ut sileas diaboli) BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT Y’ALL

Storyteller Saturday! 💖 If your characters had the opportunity to get any pet they wanted, what would they choose? Who already has a pet?

Hey hey! Thanks for sending something in. I’ll pick a few characters from different projects below

Coriander, from my main project (found here) techincally has pets – she and her mother have two chickens, but they’re more so treated as livestock than pets. She would probably want a big hunting/sheep dog (that of course is just a big softie) or a small lizard to sit on her shoulder and eat worms and things. Both, of course, would be strays she befriended and adopted over time.

Jasper, from the same story, wants a firebird, or a peacock, or a Bagwyrm – a massive caterpillar that builds a mobile cocoon on its back. Info here.

Bette, from A Crown of Hoarfrost, also has a not-quite pet, Skau their mousing cat. Cats in this world are regular household fixtures, in a sense, meant to ward off malevolent spirits and unwanted mice, as well as eating leftover scraps of fish. However, she wants another, even bigger and fluffier than Skau to use as a pillow.

Her husband Endymion meanwhile is the most extra to ever extra, and requires a living stag made of ice and nothing less.

Beck, from Mx. Fortune, also has a cat named Quincey (tfw you realize everyone has cats), but she’d love a boa or python that’s as big as she is. Something big and slithery and scaley with a perfectly boopable snoot, while her friend June wants a thematically appropriate “henchpet,” aka a semi-sentient who-knows-what that goes along with her supervillain theme of evil pastries. A talking cupcake would be, in her words, “sweet.”

Finally, Lise, from my latest and untitled project, really wants a kitten. A soft tiny cat that would sit on her lap while she crochets and can be carried about in her pocket. She also wouldn’t mind a rat, but kittens are her favorite.
