Silco has a roomba that he loves dearly. He upgrades every time he can and he loves it. He has the best dishwasher available because he hates dishes and he loves that it beeps nicely when it’s done. He loves technology. From his Alexa who he can ask to play his music while he cooks, to his vest that heats up nice and warm from a battery pack. Jinx still has to help him add contacts into his cellphone, but he just asks Siri to call people.

Vander falls over the roomba a lot because he doesn’t notice it. He doesn’t trust the dishwasher to clean the dishes enough. He thinks the Alexa spy’s on them.

He does actually like the socks Silco gifted him that have a little button so they warm up. But other then a that and his radio, he doesn’t much care for technology.

I've been seeing posts about some replies from AL on Twitter tonight, and wanted to share some of my thoughts. For those who might've missed it, Anna replied to the below thread--not once, but twice--despite not being tagged or mentioned anywhere in it:

The fanart above is based on an Ineffable Husbands AU fic that is currently published on AO3 and has nothing to do with Michael other than using his face for the character, which makes AL randomly leaving those inane comments an obvious bid for attention, as she would've had to be stalking fan accounts to find that tweet. To make matters worse, however, someone in the comments on one of the replies sent her a link to the fanfic in question. Particularly egregious is the fact that the person who sent the link was not the author, and the author is now (quite understandably) pissed off and upset about this.

I know there have been multiple discussions about this in the past, but apparently it needs to be repeated: It is absolutely NOT acceptable to send fanfic to creators/creator-barely-adjacent people, especially without the author's knowledge or permission.

Yes, we know Michael enjoys GO fanfic. Yes, we know he has read and likely written GO fanfic and probably RPF. That still does not make it okay to send him fics--at all, for any reason, but most significantly because if anyone knows where/how to find fics if he wants to read them, it's Michael. Also worth noting is that Anna is not Michael. Anna could dislike or be entirely disgusted by GO fanfic or AUs...in which case she could have commented on the photo edit as a way of making fun of it, thereby potentially setting the creator up for ridicule and/or harassment.

It's also distressing to see people in the comments on Twitter encouraging this behavior/cheering AL on while seemingly not caring one jot about the actual creator's feelings (especially when I know that several of the comments are fan artists themselves). I had honestly thought fans knew better than that by now, but it seems not, and to say that all of this is infuriating is an understatement...

EDIT: It's been brought to my attention that it was the person who created the Professor Fell AU/made the photo edits who was upset at Anna's comments, not the fic author (who linked their own fic, rather than someone else's). My apologies for any confusion...

I've been reading what you wrote over and over and I'm just so glad to hear these from you! Indeed, those are the vibes I'm aiming for these two. Like other people around them, they couldn't really make out of what their relationship status is based on the binary "platonic" and "romantic" relationship. But you just know that they love and appreciate each other and always stick together and that's for sure 😌

I say they're "queerplatonic" because that's the most accurate "label" we can match to their relationship but if you actually asked them what they are, hehe you know what they'll say XD (omg I just love things that exist outside of the established standards made by Society TM)

after seeing the poll about who in the batfam could be Deaf, I am now obsessed with how the masks could affect their sign. If they use their signing space differently when in the vigilante persona or not. Signing is so distinctive to each person that the code switching they do would be interesting to see play out in their ASL. Also thinking about what family signs the family would use to refer to batshit things in their lives. q

(the poll in question) i am deeply fascinated by the mechanics in which Deaf culture could play into the Batfam. bc most of them are wearing masks that would heavily inhibit ASL (given ASL is an expressive language) so i think it's more likely they'd use something akin to Makaton or Military Hand Signals that are not a fully developed language, but a communication aid, with a given set of signs for the typical things that need to be communicated in the field. meanwhile they'd be more likely to use ASL casually. (i'm unsure who all in the Batfam is confirmed to know ASL, but i know at the very least Bruce and Tim are)

i'm also very drawn in by the idea of other firms of assistive communication/tech used aside from just ASL. i personally find it believable that the masks of any of the Batfam could include automatic captioning tech that only they see through the inside of the mask, similar to captioning glasses at movie theatres, if they were Deaf/HoH. also how you would modify the concept of comm links to be more accessible, potentially projecting the message visually through the person's mask or maybe a wrist communicator sort of situation, depending on their personal preference. how the Batfam in general would interact with each other if one or multiple of them were Deaf would be heavily shaped and i think it's so fun. and i *love* the thought of personal signs they'd have to come up with bc well, ASL is hardly equipped for their lifestyle. also fun to consider sign names and if sign names are unique to the person or unique to the mantle. (eg, would the sign name for Robin be specific to which Robin, or just the mantle at large) there's so many little things that would change and i just think it's Neat. most people are approaching the poll from the perspective of their character of choice having hearing loss from vigilante work (which is a super valid way to approach it and i love those headcanons) but personally i find it fun if the deafness is a pre-existing condition and already something the Bat has been dealing with for years and thus approaches vigilantism needing to modify their gear slightly from the standard norm. how they could influence how Bruce trains them, emphasizing other senses. how they'd likely be far more tactical on the field, pressing their hands against something to feel for noise, ergo their gloves may be designed to more easily pick up vibration. (cannot tell you how much i do that irl) whether or not they'd hide it from the larger hero world is also an interesting question. it's all a fun internal struggle as well, internalized ableism and all. so much you could do with it!!

I know it's super common for those who are neurodivergent to get easily overstimulated by sound, or to not like sound at all. Most people I know IRL who are neurodivergent in one way or another prefer quiet: they wear noise cancelling earphones/buds when possible, watch YouTube and short videos(tiktok/ytshorts/insta reels/etc) muted with captions, so on and so forth. Seems to be the standard experience.

But are there anyone on the ADHD/Autistic spectrums that need sound? Who feels safer when there's outside noise, and anxious if it's quiet? Who need a fan running, or radio going, rain on the window, some form of NOISE just to feel safe?

I cannot be the only crazy person here who cannot stand to be the only thing in a room making noise, and gets anxious if it's too quiet because "what if I'm the one ruining the quiet by breathing too loud?!" Like, there has to be someone else who goes into a quiet room full of people and feels like they cannot move or else the sound of their clothes will disturb people. I cannot be alone in this? I can't be the only one who wears sound amplifying earphones/buds to fend off the quiet? Right? That's a thing, right?

first: do yall think that, in the same way that phlebotomists (people who draw blood) get thirsty over really thick veins (self explanitory), tf medics get really thirsty when they open up someone's armor and see a bunch of tangled wiring? like they are just ITCHING to go in there and start sorting all that shit out and will get absolutely neurotic and pathetic about it until their patient agrees to let them deal with it?

second: do yall think that tfs like it when their armor gets tapped on? like if they had a human companion who started drumming on their hood or something, its kind of like when you hyper-pap a cat/dog's butt and they get mad when you stop? all i can imagine rn is jazz laying facedown in front of the ark with carly, chip, and sparkplug all playing different rhythms on different parts of his armor like they're his own personal masseusses - and he's calling back (in a tone of voice more suited to a sunbathing cat) which songs they're playing on him, and his engine is purring all content and happy, and then he whines like an absolute baby when they tell him that they have to go aslkdjaklsj

third: do you think that tfs kind of view specialized tires and rims in the same way that humans view decorated/fake nails? are mechs with shiny, strangely colored rims considered vain? or wealthy? or childish? or is it more like a shoe thing - where the only people who even notice really unique tread and rim designs are other tread/rim people? do mechs roll their eyes when someone tries to show off their slick-as-hell kicks? are there entire stores dedicated to treads, rims, and other decorative stuff like nikē or crocs? would cybertronians have their own version of Claire's or Hot Topic???

fourth: is there a standard datapad size? how do you think it was decided? cybertronians can be literally as small as pens or as large as cities/worlds. if you're an uncommonly sized mech, do you just have to deal with the fact that most datapads are too big/small for your hands? are there mechs who just say "fuck it" and plug into datapads when one is handed to them? do you think there's like... a sort of obnoxious elitism tied to whether or not a mech decides to read externally (on a datapad) vs internally (via hardline)? which way would it go? it is "less educated" to read from a book, and focus only on the book? or is it "less educated" to skim a book as it downloads itself into your head? is it "more educated" to read traditionally, and give your full attention to a book? or is it "more educated" to scan the book and continue your duties as you read?

i have many thoughts.... and not many answers... 🤔🤔🤔
