Chapter 2 Loading Screen Trivia

Note: Currently, I do not know which of these trivia may be general game trivia or Chapter 2 exclusives (if there is any). And there may be trivia I'm currently missing that I will add later on, if I find any more.

World Detective Organization (WDO) An extra-legal, extra-privileged organization devoted to eradicating the world's unsolved mysteries.

Detective Deed An identification card. These are granted by the World Detective Organization.

Master Detective Among the detectives belonging to the World Detective Organization, this is a detective with a specialized power called Forensic Forte that aids in their investigative activities.

Forensic Forte Those exhibiting innate talent for special powers like clairvoyance or mind-reading are trained by the WDO to develop a supernatural investigative ability called Forensic Forte or simply, Forte.

Amaterasu Corporation Many products are in development, some of which cannot be made public.

Amaterasu Peacekeepers A department of Amaterasu Corporation. They serve as a sort of police force within Kanai Ward.

Kanai Station The only train station in Kanai Ward. It's a magnificent building, but seldom has customers because of the city's isolation.

Kamasaki District Crime generally isn't bad here, unless you venture deeper inside, that is.

Riverbank Due to polluted waters, fish are rarely caught.

Ginma District Security tends to be pretty tight, likely on account of the frequent patronage by Amaterasu Corporation executives and other wealthy individuals.

"Dragon Palace" A popular meat bun shop in Ginma District. They sell at the higher-than-usual price of 500 shien apiece, but the owner insists it's due to superior seasoning.

Kanai Bus System A bus service running throughout Kanai Ward. The bus fee is fixed at 200 shien. Amaterasu Corporation employees ride free.

Kanai Ward Living Condition Perhaps because of the daily rainfall, some people in Kanai Ward don't mind getting wet.

Popular Sports Parkour is popular among the young men of Kamasaki District. New problems have arisen however, what will all the trespassing and running across the top of food stalls.

Treatment of Criminals Criminals captured by the Peacekeepers are sent to detention facilities where they are interrogated until they admit guilt; that is, if they're not disposed of on the spot.

Desuhiko's Beanie Desuhiko's custom-made, designer beanie is waterproof, and cost him several months' pay.

Fubuki's Accessories Fubuki's necklace has a clock motif. The choker is decorated with video playback control symbols.

Aetheria Academy An all-girls school situated on a mountain summit in Kanai Ward. It is 10 minutes away by bus from Kamasaki District. The students are mostly daughters of Amaterasu employees.

Aetheria Academy The prestigious all-girls school boasts not only a highly advanced educational program, but a weighty investment into club activities.

Aetheria Academy Cafeteria Much thought is put toward the caloric content and nutritional value of the menu, making it very popular among the students. This week's special is the "Hamburg Steak Meal."

Pets Because of Kanai Ward's unending rain, indoor pets are popular. At the same time, there is increasing concern of many dogs and cats become feral after being abandoned by irresponsible owners.

Flora in Kanai Ward Because it's difficult to grow plants in the perpetually rainy Kanai Ward, many have been replaced with synthetic counterparts, aside from some roadside trees and flowers in Ginma.

What's Trending at the Academy At Aetheria Academy, the students are raving about "Monomitchi," a game in which a bear cub is raised. It can turn into a variety of different bears, depending on its upbringing.

"Waiting for Gokut" One of the popular plays performed by Aetheria's theater club. The story revolves around the friends of someone named Gokut (GO-koo) waiting for him to return.

"The Culprit is Not Among Us" One of the popular plays performed by Aetheria's theater club. A mystery where 15 trapped men and women are drawn into a string of murders. Unique in that the culprit lurks within the audience.

"Faraway at the Bound of the World" One of the popular plays performed by Aetheria Academy's theater club. An adventure set in a fantasy world, revealed in the climax to be a devasted future earth all along. (No, I didn't make a typo)

"Match: The Intersection of Fate" One of the popular plays performed by Aetheria's theater club. A drama featuring an ensemble cast at a crossroads. Eight unique performances from different points of view, depending on the day.

About Aiko Always cheerful and full of energy, she had many friends. She enjoyed transforming into a completely different person through acting and wanted to try many different roles.

Karen's Weakness She dislikes the sounds and flashes of thunder and lightning, and is quick to hide in her room at the mere hint of rumbling.

Yoshiko's Bag The waist bag used in the theater club belongs to Yoshiko. It's designed by a brand from outside Kanai Ward that Pucci also adores.

Waruna's Secret On the way home from Aetheria Academy, she stops by the riverbank to give milk to stray cats, an activity she hasn't told anyone about.

Kurane's Favorite Tunes She's secretly gotten into heavy metal choir and is looking forward to an upcoming death metal choir release.

Aetheria Academy's Teacher Hana is the name of the teacher Desuhiko disguised himself as. An alumnus of Aetheria Academy, she guides her students with a firm yet gentle style of education.

Omen Detective A Master Detective with the Forte to predict the future. However, the range of the prediction is extremely narrow and limited. This detective was not summoned to Kanai Ward.

Yima Kokohead has won the poll! congratulations! now here's an outfit art reference of this cutie! oh I added an adorable accessory, the shiny key, well since rain code has solution keys, I also went with neon like colors to his normal outfit I made the outfit a little bit of a rainy theme and look leg warmers! I gave him leg warmers!!!!!!! and since he's being cutie I put him in the clothes with the long sleeves! the long sleevies! Also I gave Yima's color purple too. Yima is one of those protagonist who's new to the school but has the unique vibe, Yima is actually a male but he just wants to be a girl and fit in with the comfort crowd who accepts him for who he is, plus Yima is in love with detective stuff and loves to read novels. she's also friends with Kurumi and the other girls but Kurumi is her best friend. well Yima's done, who's next? Minor spoilers for Chapter 2

Starting off with Kurumi, she is a rookie spy following in the footsteps of her father who was also a spy. They work freelance so anyone can hire their services however steered clear of higher ups in the Amaterasu Alliance. Ever since her dad went missing she’s been on the search for him. She also attends this very prestigious academy called Aetheria Academy which is an all girls school. Here is where you learn to be a proper lady and the like. This school was originally for only nobles but some commoners have been admitted due to showing great promise.

In this school there is a very famous tradition of plays and this is where the girls attending this school get to shine and catch the attend of possible suitors. At the top is usually Aiko, Kurane, Waruna, Yoshiko, and Karen.

Unlike Kurumi, they are just normal noble school girls trying to aim for the top. However in a recent incident Aiko was expelled for “unladylike conduct” and “murder attempt” reported by Karen. No one dared challenge her on this claim because her father was a well known noble in the Amaterasu Alliance. Ever since then Kurane, Waruna, and Yoshiko have become distant seeing how Aiko seemed to be what held them together.

Kurumi, hearing her friend was expelled for such extreme allegations, decided to investigate this while using the skills her father taught her and skills she picked up trying to look for him. Little did she know an Elite Strike Force has infiltrated Alliance territory and was here to deal with a certain Martina

Ok so this took so long because honestly I thought I knew what I wanted to do with these girls but as I was typing this out I realized “oh shit no I don’t” and so I’m sorry to those who was waiting for something in depth and spectacular but got this instead and even this will likely change. If you got any ideas then I would love to hear them!

rain code characters as mlp characters a thread:

yuma: twilight sparkle. purple, the main character, both have neuroses that make me want to study them under a microscope.

shinigami: spike. little purple fucker who is also there.

halara: rarity. they're both fancy. also rarity has a cat. also this one's bizarre but i feel like i saw a lot of bronies who were really into rarity? like, they thought this horse was hot? well i think halara's hot so there we go.

fubuki: pinkie pie. they're #silly and have powers that are absolutely cracked (fubuki is self-explanatory as a time traveler, but i think pinkie pie beats any powerscaling tournament). both of them also have complicated family lives.

yakou: applejack. hard-working and the only one without any sort of obvious power (unicorn magic, pegasus flight, or whatever the fuck pinkie pie has going on). overly protective and the closest thing to a "parent friend" the group has.

vivia: fluttershy. both can communicate with things that the others can't (ghosts and animals respectively). if vivia was a pegasus, he probably wouldn't want to fly much, either. plus, while vivia isn't really "shy", he's definitely the quietest of the group. this one's pretty loose but he sure as hell isn't anyone else.

desuhiko: rainbow dash. idk they were the only ones left. they're both cocky i guess? i could imagine rainbow dash tackling a gun-wielding pony to defend twilight. also they're both attracted to women.

kurumi: starlight glimmer or whatever her fuckin name is. shows up later in the story, hangs out with twilight/yuma a lot. i didn't watch this far into mlp so my opinions on starlight are nonexistent, much like how my overall thoughts on kurumi are "yeah she's fine".

the aetheria trio: the cutiemark crusaders. give both sets of characters a few years, then teach them what a polycule is. you will get the same results. karen can be babs seed or whatever.

makoto: princess luna. i don't know man i just see it in my soul.

Thoughts on Yoshiko x Kurumi and Kurane x Waruna as a double date?

That’s super cute honestly !! I mean, the Aetheria girls are a trio I have always felt super bad for, and I love how that trial really makes you think about justice and how subjective it can be, but that’s a post for another time. 💕

Kurane and Waruna give me the polar opposite vibes, like the “ listens x talks a lot “, the “ moon x sun “ dynamic, so them as a couple could be really cute ( and honestly, both girls have closeted gay vibes too ). They’d be a power couple for sure. 💕

I’d never given Kurumi and Yoshiko a thought either !! I mean, both are very similar in personality, and I feel like they’d mesh super well together. I’m honestly quite shocked that Kurumi didn’t have more interpersonal relationships with girls at her school besides Aiko, like it would make so much sense that Kurumi and Yoshiko met through Aiko while she was alive. Girl besties that turn into girlfriends. 💕

I feel like double dates would be a staple between the four of them, and sleepovers at eachother’s dorm rooms. This ask has made me realize that we have had so many fun dynamics ripped from us, and I am sad we didn’t get this.🥂 Rarepairs unite. 🤠✨🥂

RainCode Honorifics!

First let me preface this by saying I'm not Japanese so there may be a few mistakes in this post.

I haven't seen anyone else make a post on this so I figured I'd do it myself. I've always found honorifics interesting in Japanese media and often include them in my fics. RainCode is a little different however because all characters go by their first names instead of surnames which most Japanese media typically use (since most surnames are westernized/wacky). This interested me so I wanted to do a little research!

But yeah, if you want to use honorifics in your own fics or just find Japanese linguistics interesting, I hope you enjoy this post! It has taken me 3-4 months to compile this list.

Spoilers ahead!

Yuma: Typically Yuma uses -san when referring to other characters. However there are a few exceptions to this. Yuma uses -chan to refer to Shinigami (because she asked him too) and with Kurumi. He also changes to using -kun for Desuhiko after they arrive at Aetheria Academy in chapter 2/Gum shoe gab 2 to show they're friends (but this could be to reciprocate the fact Desuhiko changed from using Rookie to My man). He does not use any honorifics for the peacekeepers (Yomi, Martina, etc) to show he doesn't respect them and Makoto (Although he will use -san when talking to Makoto). He also doesn't use honorifics on Aiko, Karen, Waruna, Yoshiko and Kurane, although he does use -san when speaking to other students in the investigation.

Shinigami: She tends to not use any honorifics and instead uses nicknames. Most notably Akuma-chan for Halara (Hellara in the dub). When she does use a character's name it is with no honorific. I did notice she uses -dono in the gum shoe gabs when saying Yuma's bond with a character has deepened. -dono is often used in writing letters/emails, but also is used in a lot of fantasy media/JRPGs. Shinigami does reference Dragon Quest in the dub so perhaps this is just her being a nerd (Special thanks too @/rararazaquato for pointing this out). If you want to know more about the nicknames she gives the NDA in Japanese, please look at this post!

Halara: They use no honorifics for any character. The only time I heard them use one was in their DLC when they use -san for their client (They do not use Tetra's name though. They say Ojo-san).

Desuhiko: He also doesn't tend use honorifics. Unlike Halara though he uses nicknames. He refers to Fubuki as Ojou, which translates as Young lady/princess. He uses -chan for Shinigami and Kurumi but also when referring to female characters like Guillaume and NPCs where he'll say neko-chan. He also calls Yuma Rookie until they arrive at Aetheria Academy, where he changes to My man for the rest of the game.

Fubuki: Uses -san for every character.

Vivia: Uses -kun for most characters. He doesn't use honorifics for Yomi or Makoto, and uses -chan for Kurumi

Yakou: Like Halara and Desuhiko, Yakou tends not to use honorifics but there are a few exceptions. He uses -chan for Fubuki and Kurumi. He also calls Seth -sensei when he was trying to deescalate the situation in chapter 1. He uses -san for Tetra, so I think he uses honorifics with clients. I don't know for certain but that's my theory.

Kurumi: Now, Kurumi tends to use -san for most characters. She used -san with Yuma when they first meet, but switches to -chan when he is in disguise in the school to help blend in. She then uses -kun from chapter 3 onwards (and once in chapter 2 when she's held by a peacekeeper, but Yuma doesn't hear her). She doesn't use honorifics with Akio, Karen, Waruna, Yoshiko, Kurane and Shachi.

Makoto: He uses a variety of honorifics. He tends not to use any for Yuma, but also does say -kun. He also uses -kun for both Yomi and Martina/Suwaro. He also uses -chan for Kurumi.

Now onto minor characters where it gets a little difficult due to screen time.

Pucci: Uses -san for Zange so maybe uses -san for other cast members.

Melami: I didn't hear her use any honorifics as she doesn't refer to others by name and tends to use nicknames.

Zange: He didn't call any character by their name so I have no idea unfortunately.

Aphex: Used nicknames so again, I am not sure.

Zilch(?)/Hitman: In chapter 1 he uses -kun for both Yuma and Aphex. He did not address the rest of the cast by name so I have no idea if he'd use -san or -kun for Pucci or Melami. Even then I don't know if that was an act as he is an imposter. He uses -sama however for Yomi in chapter 5 when you find him as a zombie.

Martina: Fun fact, she is actually called Suwaro/Swallow in the Japanese sub! I don't know why her name is changed but this was a fun surprise. She uses -sama for both Yomi and Makoto. She doesn't use names for the NDA.

Swank: He didn't use any names, but I included him because like Martina, his name was changed. Originally he was called Spank in the Japanese sub.

Yomi: Only ever called Martina by her name with no honorific.

Seth: Like most peacekeepers he calls Yomi by -sama.

Guillaume: She tends to refer to Dominic by just his name, along with Shachi. She however does use -sama for Yomi like the other peacekeepers.

Priest: Uses -san for the clock-maker

Teacher: Although this is Desuhiko, in disguise he calls Kurumi by -san.

Yoshiko: No honorifics

Kurane: No honorifics

Waruna: No honorifics

Shachi: No honorifics

Iruka: Uses -san for Yuma but no honorifics for Shachi.

Servan: Doesn't use honorifics for other resistant members, but uses -kun for Yuma

Icardi: No honorifics

Margulaw: No honorifics

Ramen man: Uses -chan for Kurumi. Not sure what he'd use for other characters.

Enyne: Before she reveals her identity she uses -san for Desuhiko
