Is it weird that I really jive with all the thematic stuff you're laying down here and really appreciate all the ideas going on with Homestuck's subtext and meta text but I also just don't really find the story that entertaining to read in the back half of it. i mightve even found the epilogues more engaging to read than the second half of homestuck idk. in a weird spot where im looking at the subtext and marvelling at how clever it is but the text is kinda boring me

it has been simply too long since i sat down to read act 6 in its entirety for me to give an earnest judgement on whether i Agree or Disagree with you on this but i guess that's fine. it is not weird or out of the ordinary to find that you respect what a story was trying to do without actually enjoying the story all that much and good on you really for not liking something but still being able to admit that you appreciate what i found to like about it

it is also not weird or out of the ordinary to find act 6 boring. though speaking from memory i honestly never found that to be the case and i think that's interesting because i would have been something like 15 years old and if i had found that i was reading something at 15 that was really boring me i would remember that because i just would not have finished reading it LOL. and i expect most 15 year old kids have a pretty low tolerance for boring shit so idk there surely must be SOMETHING interesting going on in there. but obviously the probability is that homestuck is not going to be For a lot of the people who read it and that's fine too. the discourse would probably be a lot healthier if more people were willing to admit that homestuck / some part of homestuck just was not For them, or that they just didn't like it / get it, as opposed to it having to be either good or IRREDEEMABLE CRAP WRITTEN BY AN IDIOT.

i imagine it could be difficult to read something as fucking looooong as homestuck and then come to grips with the possibility that maybe you wasted a lot of that time on something you didn't enjoy. in some way i am probably pretty lucky in that i put all that time into it and came out the other end having genuinely enjoyed pretty much every aspect of it

It's silly of me to feel drawn to someone I only know on the internet, but I feel that we're slightly alike in little ways...which I never feel with anyone at all irl or even online...everyone around me is super religious and superstitious. It feels really suffocating, as a closeted atheist, if they knew they'd hate me so much. Or they're very conventionally put together, "normal" and stable, and eventually, when they find out that I have lots of family and schooling issues, it really throws them off (I'm never gonna vent dw, i never like to dwell or think about them, and my avoidance about lots of topics make ppl think im very weird, me being really quiet and reserved makes them think so too). you're the first person that I feel like would never quite judge me for those ;_; And I really really love and resonate with your opinions, tastes and preferences in things.

Piper was the only one who knew about this little thing going on because your other half siblings that someone would have to have bad taste and judgement to date him. However, all the sneaking around ended today when Leo expressed how it felt being kept like a secret.

"It means your the alpha skibdi rizzler of my heart." He said putting his little tinkering project down and wrapping his arms around your waist beaming at you with a twinkle in his brown eyes. Normal boyfriends would call their partner darling or baby but you didn't have normal you had Leo. Scrawny, mischievous Leo.

At first, you lean into his arms but then you notice all the oil on him and playfully shove him away as one of his dirty hands come up to cup your cheek. "Hey, watch the money maker, Valdez. If you ruin my outfit I will cry . And your weird terms still make zero sense." You say not being able to help the smile that came across your lips. Gods, he was cute covered in oil and when he was ruining it with his brainrot vocab.

Pouting, Leo moved back and grabbed a rag to clean himself off, he was so ready for today you were half expecting him to burst out singing 'for the first time in forever' like Anna in frozen. "Fine, fine. So... you ready to tell the world your dating the one and only Leo Valdez?" He asked in a cocky tone as he leaned on his workbench trying to hide the childlike excitement that you could tell was brewing under the service.

“Um..excuse me?” A soft voice and a gentle tap on the shoulder brought Edge out of his conversation with Christian, making him turn around to find one of the new talents, Y/N. Eyes wide and unused to people approaching him and Christian, Edge was able to stutter out a yes with wide eyes.

“Sorry, I just can’t find the merch staff, I was supposed to grab a shirt from them. Do you know where they are?” No fear was clear in the voice or face, only confusion.

“I think um, I think they should be over that way.” Stuttering through his response, he quickly pointed down the hallway.

“Oh, okay, thank you! Sorry for bothering you.” Y/N took a few steps back, thinking the conversation was over before Edge had a chance to respond.

“No problem, we’re just not really all that, all that used to people..not being scared by us, I guess.” He chuckled awkwardly while he and Christian watched as their eyebrows crinkled with confusion and were quick to ask why.

“The whole Brood gimmick makes us a lot more intimidating than what we are.” Christian was quick to explain from next to Edge, a grin growing on both of their features.

“I just wanted to say that I met a lot of people today, and you were probably the nicest to me, so I just wanted to say thanks again.” Y/N’s praise put the grin and blush back onto his face.

“Oh! Nothing to thank me for, but you’re welcome. And, um, I think you’re pretty too.” Edge’s comments made Y/N equally as giddy as the big, blushing man inches away from them.

“You’re getting a lot of thanks out of me today, huh? Maybe I could..maybe I could thank you in a different way?” Y/N’s voice turned into a soft whisper as they moved in closer, heat creeping through both as they stood in the door way. Edge nodded his head, unable to find words.

Y/N moved in even closer, noses nudging and eyes meeting. Their hand moved to the back of his neck, his own coming to tangle with theirs, lips finding the soft skin of his cheek before they barely pulled away, noses still brushing.

“I got a ride with Trish, so I gotta go, but maybe we could meet up on Sunday after Heat?” They still whispered, fingers fiddling in his hold and giving his a quick squeeze, while the two grinned, ear to ear.

i read this article yesterday and my overall feelings towards it are that this doesn't change anything for me and shouldn't change anything for most people

the gist of the article seems to be that taika got offered the thor ragnarok job and it came with a ridiculous paycheck and there was no way he was ever going to turn it down (valid). chelsea didn't want to put her own career on the backburner or uproot her kids to move to australia while he was directing it (also valid). this led to their relationship breaking down, which is totally understandable, because if you're in a couple it's really fucking difficult when you're forced to make a decision that is going to heavily favour one person.

he may or may not have cheated. if he did, he's not the first person to cheat, and he won't be the last. if he didn't, that doesn't mean the relationship was perfect and had nothing else going on.

i will happily sit here and call people out for spreading misinformation about taika when it's demonstrably false (clock my pinned post etc). but i've never engaged with any of the shit about 'he cheated on his wife' 'he abandoned his kids' 'he's a bad dad' etc because ultimately i don't know anywhere near enough about his family to make a judgement on that, it would be very weird if i did, and i don't care!

“We have got to find a new dinner spot” Amy whispers to Jake across the table who’s giggling.

“Aw but I like Sal’s” He whispers back, their chins nearly touching the table as they duck from view.

“Probably on us that we assumed Gina and Charles wouldn’t come here” Jake continued with a shrug of his shoulders.

“Yeah, that’s definitely on us. What do we do?” Amy asked anxiously.

“What do you mean?”

“They’re here, we’re here, they don’t know about us. What do we do?”

“Sneak out the side door and pretend we were never here?” Jake suggested with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

“Sure, let’s do it” Amy agreed, a small smile returning to her face.

The two of them got up quickly, Jake grabbing Amy’s hand and dragging her out of the diner quickly behind him. She had her bag slung over her shoulder and was carrying her scarf, not having had a moment to put it on yet.

Once they were out the door and walking down the street the two of them laughed as Amy finally wrapped her scarf around her neck. Jake took Amy’s arm and linked it with his, holding her close as they walked down the snow lined streets.

“We’ve gotta find somewhere else to get dinner now” Jake brought up after they’d been walking for a few minutes with no real destination in mind.

“How would you feel about pizza?” Amy asked with a smile, knowing exactly how Jake would feel about pizza.

“Dumb question Ames, I know just the place”

He redirected them, crossing the street and turning a corner while Amy simply followed his lead. Once there they ordered and got their pizza, they laughed about their escape from Sal’s again and Jake filled Amy in on the ongoing Sasha drama after she overheard Gina mention it.

They finished their pizza and hung around in the shop for a little while longer, ignoring their phones and everything outside the door. As far as Jake was concerned, right now the world existed in the pizza shop, sitting across the table from him.

It was only when the owner of the shop politely told them he was going to be closing soon did they leave – leaving behind a nice tip for having stayed so long – walking arm in arm slowly back towards campus under the light of the street lamps. Amy could tell Jake was trying to delay saying goodbye to her, and if Amy was honest with herself she didn’t want to say goodbye either.

They stopped at the usual split in their path, this section of the sidewalk held so many memories and emotions that Amy couldn’t believe it had all happened in less than a year. The two of them hugged for probably too long, they were clingy for a few day-old relationship but Amy never wanted it to stop.

“Come back to my dorm with me?” Jake asked her quietly, breath brushing against Amy’s ear in a way that made her skin tingle, “If you want” he added, giving her an out.

“I want to”

It was an easy decision, and one she didn’t regret at all.

Jake made his way to the library happily, lighter than air and excited to see Amy again. When he walked into the library she hadn’t noticed him yet but as soon as Jake saw her he couldn’t stop the smile spreading from ear to ear.

Amy finally noticed him as he approached the table, a matching smile gracing her face, and it took everything in Jake to hold back kissing her as soon as he was sat down next to her. They kept their conversation casual and work focused, it felt like before they were together when the two of them were dancing around whatever was happening between them.

After some subtle searching of the library by taking looks around at random intervals he was able to spot Gina, Rosa, and Charles at a table nearby. They were pretending to be engrossed in one book between the three of them and doing a bad job, Rosa was clearly uninterested but there anyway.

“This is boring, they’re clearly not together” Rosa was annoyed.

“But what if they are and they’re just playing it down?” Gina argued back.

“If they were together we’d know by now” Charles now joined in.

“God this is ridiculous” Gina threw her arms up in frustration, “I just need them to kiss or something”

“Go ask them” Rosa suggested slightly sarcastically.

Gina fixed Rosa with a look that made Charles want to shrink in on himself, feeling grateful he hadn’t crossed either of them.

“We could just wait for them to tell us?” He suggested in hopes of stopping Gina and Rosa’s staring match.

“Fine” Gina agreed begrudgingly.

Gina was the one to get up first, followed by Rosa and then once they started walking away Charles quickly followed, not wanting to be left behind.

Jake saw movement out of the corner of his eye, catching his attention he looked up to see Rosa, Gina and Charles all making a hasty exit from the library and he smiled knowing he and Amy had been able to bore them into leaving.

Once their friends had left the library he leaned over and gave Amy a quick peck on the cheek, startling her out of her concentration where she looked at Jake with surprised.

“What abo-“ She began before Jake cut her off.

“They just left”

Amy let out a laugh before placing a hand on the side of Jake’s face, he leaned into it with a content sigh. Jake then reached up to lightly grab Amy’s wrist, keeping her hand in place as he twisted his head to plant another kiss on her palm.

“You can’t distract me like that” Amy said quietly, trying to be teasing but sounding more breathless.

“Sorry” Jake had apologized but didn’t sound one bit sorry, returning to his work with a satisfied smirk.

It was the first time they’d hung out as a whole group since Jake and Amy had gotten together and hiding their relationship was more difficult than Jake had anticipated. He wanted to hold her hand in the back of the uber and put his arm around her shoulders as they walked into the party but couldn’t do any of it.

That was until they split up after playing some small drinking games together, Jake immediately asked Amy if she wanted to dance and she couldn’t have said yes quick enough. He assumed his friends were off finding the drama, Gina and Rosa probably on the hunt for people to flirt with while Charles waited for Genevieve to arrive soon.

Once he and Amy had reached the dance floor her pulled her close, bodies pressed up against one another – he wasn’t wasting a single moment keeping her at a distance. They danced together in the way Jake wished they could’ve on New Years, and it was the most fun he’d had at a party in a while.

So much fun that he leaned down to kiss Amy hard, brain slightly foggy after the alcohol they’d had so far, but pleased when Amy leaned into it. The kiss became intense as they abandoned any illusion that they were dancing.

Finally Jake pulled away with heavy breaths, leaning down to whisper into Amy’s ear.

“Bathroom”

She nodded furiously and followed closely behind when Jake grabbed her hand and dragged her away from the dance floor.

It's mostly a fantasy AU, it's seaglass (Finn/Glisten) centric since me n my friend are very fixated on that ship atm ,, BUT there's some fruitcake and Sprout focus too (bc we also are both fond of Sprout) and we thought. Hey. Wouldnt it be so funny.

The general idea is Sprout is a werewolf, and so is Finn (because I like werewolves and I love Finn. So he gets to be cool) and they just have silent unexplained beef wit each other ,, and it's FUNNY okay it's HILARIOUS I SWEAR

There's a lot of focus on the issues being a werewolf gives you (mentally, physically, etc.) so it has some vaguely triggering topics that I will elaborate on below,, I can't be too specific atm (brain is mush) but there's a Lot

I remember a point of thought I had was like ,, how werewolf shifts probably burn a lot of calories and whether or not werewolves remember to eat before/afterwards likely influences their diet .. suggested vaguely the idea of werewolves that have bad binge-eating habits to cope or will force themselves to eat to compensate, etc.

TL;DR Sprout (and Finn by proxy) probably has an eating disorder of some flavor

And I thought it'd be sweet if maybe Cosmo helps him cope with it to some extent? Since yk. He's a baker. He specializes with Food. Maybe he can help 2 some extent hmhmhm

Sprout also likely suffers from possessiveness/overprotectiveness issues, and that's why he doesn't like Finn, since Finn is close with Cosmo (to some extent) and happens to also be a werewolf, which kind of leaves Sprout standing there like "!!!!!!!!"

We also played around with the idea of there being certain suppressants/some other form of medication that werewolves can take to ease the pain of shifts, but they have certain side effects (e.g repressing other traits werewolves exhibit, like heightened sense of smell)

Finn takes the suppressants due to being bitten later in life, but Sprout chooses not to since he's been a werewolf longer and he feels like it's taking away core parts of who he is and who he chooses to be. Which is controversial because. Yeah

There was also some talk of how werewolves are ultimately animals and likely behave accordingly - mindlessly violent werewolves are fun yk but not very realistic sometimes. We figured werewolf attacks are probably the result of some common issues:

Werewolf is extremely hungry

Werewolf is not in a safe/familiar environment, and all the sights and smells are overwhelming, prompting it to act defensively

Somebody is intoxicated as all hell and does not know any better than to approach the clearly anxious wolf in a corner

Werewolf is attacked FIRST, and the attacker lies about it

Though I'm sure there's probably exceptions where werewolves are just violent. We debated whether or not we wanted Sprout to be a violent one and decided to settle on a kind of between .. he reacts with aggression often but doesn't go out of his way to harm others I think,

ok I know you said things I like but I'm actually going to take this opportunity to rant about The Lorax (2012) because I have a lot of thoughts about why I hate this movie. Thank you for the ask :)

By the way no judgement to anyone who likes this movie or to the onceler fuckers, these are just my opinions. So to start off, I feel like the lorax story did not lend itself well to the animated kids movie formula. It probably would've been better as some sort of short film or something. And I know Dr Seuss was, like, racist and stuff but the lorax had a pretty good message. And in making the movie I feel like they muddled that message a lot.

So like I said, the story didn't fit the vibe, so to make it work as a kids movie they added an entire other plotline outside of the actual story. They expand upon both the world and the child hearing the story, and I have a problem with both of these. It seems like they were trying to make the town have that whimsical feel that other movies based on Seuss stories have, but personally, I don't think it works for the Lorax. Reading the story you get a sense that the world is desolate and barren. It feels pretty dystopian. In the movie that's only the area where the onceler lives and outside of that is a pretty nice looking town. Sure they have no trees, and are being scammed by some shitty CEO but it's a society with lots of people, who don't seem to feel like anything's wrong. And considering that it's a movie for children, I think the things that make it feel dystopian are too subtle. And you could argue that it was intentionally made to feel like real life, as some sort of commentary or something, but again I think kids won't pick up on that.

Moving on to the kid voiced by zac Efron, (I don't remember his name and I don't really care) I think in the story the kid is meant to be a stand in for anyone, like it doesn't matter who he is because it's meant to be you, reading the story. So making this kid a more fleshed out character was not something I would've done in the first place. Furthermore this kid doesn't even think anything's wrong. He's just motivated by the girl he likes saying she wishes she could see a tree! and that's kind of all he cares about which makes me feel like at that point why isn't she just the main character? (also side it was a weird choice to make her be so much older than him.) Basically I didn't care about any of this, they should have left out the entirety of this outside plot.

Anyway, moving on to the actual important part of the story, we have to talk about the onceler. And I think the main issue with the onceler is that they humanized him too much. Obviously in the picture book you don't really see his face, and reads like much more of a creature. I also believe that there was early concept art of the onceler where he was a lot more creature-y but obviously in the movie he ended up as just a guy. And you could argue that this makes sense because in real life it is humans who are at the root of all the things destroying the environment, but the onceler isn't meant to represent one person, he's meant to represent the companies and corporations. And I don't think the whole tumblr sexyman thing was necessarily their fault because I don't think that was intentional or that they could've forseen that, but it's kind of a testament to the fact that he is too sympathetic a character. And I guess that might be sort of the root of my problems with the movie, that everything feels too personal to be as allegorical as the original story feels. Oh yeah also the deleted song "Biggering" is actually really good and in my opinion would have worked much much better than how bad can i be or whatever. I feel like there's a lot more I could say and i'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but I'm kind of losing steam and I've already written a ton so I'll leave it at that I guess. I'm not rereading this lol I hope it's at all comprehensible and if anyone reads this whole thing sorry :P oh and DISCLAIMER I haven't watched this movie in a while or read the story so this was just me talking out my ass if I got something wrong or said anything stupid, whoops 🤷🏽

also im so Bwuh at the iris was dating phoenix reveal bc before learning that it was like "damn wright u are unhealthily devoted to people who are kind to you! even after they hurt you u still think theyre good people.... You Should Work On That!" and then it turns out he was actually right kinda and the 'dahlia' he knew was actually another dahlia (iris) and its like oh i guess you kinda.. have good judgement of people.. maybe.. IDK that went in a completely different direction and considering wright didnt know iris was a different person for the longest time it isnt the best thing tht he still had affections for someone who he believed had tried to kill him LIKE..

like i guess its good (???) that the love between him and iris wasnt a lie..? and also edgeworth parallels like edgeworth had hurt wright when he faked a suicide and wright actually had anger towards him for that not unlike his anger towards dahlia but the dahlia that wanted to kill him vs the dahlia that dated him turned out to be completely different... like it makes sense plot wise looking back at iris' actions this entire case and i guess it goes to show that wright Does believe in the right people but i dont know mannnn... iris had still manipulated him and i feel like having a character like wright aka Defense Attorney being framed (kinda) as 'oh oh look! hes always got his faith in the right people dont worry about it!' is kinda er.. like i didnt mind if it turned out tht wright was a fool who got tricked by dahlia and had grown from then IDKKKK this case is so weird to me
