hyperfixated on this game so hard i tried to recreate ac syndicate's animus database using html css and js👍

i will make this responsive though, i've only started doing the frontend but i'll also start doing the backend as soon as i finish this

basically this is gonna be a website that will allow you to create a database of your assassin's creed OCs (btw this was inspired by @gwen-the-assassin's idea <33) and help you with worldbuilding and making AUs (i know the ac fanon wiki already exists for that but i wanted to make the experience of keeping a database more immersive u know....)

this might take a while to be completed, but I'll try to post updates on it as much as possible! if there are any programmers/web developers in the ac fandom that want to contribute to this project plsplspls DM me!!

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had sought significant cuts to the document repository that is used by 14 million people a year, and allowed funding to run out on April 23. A cut to the budget will either reduce the number of papers added to ERIC, or slow its intake. The article above also states that the ERIC helpdesk will now be gone. The ERICA, or ERIC Archive, has been created over at the Data Rescue Project to coordinated copies of materials stored on the Wayback Machine.

I'm having such a fun time learning foraging on my own, because how are you going to recognize a random ass plant outside, if nobody is with you to tell you what that is?

There' s a croatian website with a huge database of plants, complete with pictures in every stage of development, information about edibility and for what is it traditionally used; it's my greatest resource. But it is also, way too overwhelming to look at such huge database, trying to memorize plants you've never even seen before.

So what I'm doing to learn, is I am going trough that database, looking at every plant with intense 'have I seen this plant outside before?' stare, trying to gauge if this is a familiar plant or not. If she looks familiar, I save a picture, and list on the filename why I think this plant would be useful - I write down what are the edible parts and what I can use them for. Most of plants have edible new leaves! With lots of vitamin C in them. Some have edible roots, some are full of protein, some have seeds so hot you can use them as spice.

I have all of these pictures in a big folder and I list trough it every time I go foraging; I know I won't remember the appearances or names of all the plants, but if I see the picture enough times, my brain will alert me when I'm outside and spot that same thing. 'You've seen this thing! You saw a picture of it 11 times. You made me look at it.'

And then I can pick up the plant, take it home, compare it to pictures, and figure out if it really is one of the edible ones, or something similar. Lots of plants are so similar you have to look at the structure of the stem, color, shape and placement of the leaves, number of petals on the flower, shapes and size of flowers, the height of it, whether it tastes like it's described.

This method works well for me! I would gradually notice more and more plants outside that I recognized from the pictures, learn their names, and start using them in my kitchen. Most of plants are edible, or at least some parts of them are edible, there is so much food in nature that we can find if we know how. And wild plants have denser and richer nutritional value than the ones we grow in our garden; we modified the wild plants to have better taste, but rarely as good nutritional value.
