Recently I've gotten really into making visual novel type games using ren'py since I decided yes, I will make a mini video game for my animation final despite having no prior coding experience and it is much easier than it looks tbh

I've been working on a visual novel too!!!! I don't post as many updates on tumblr but I DO have an official twitter account for it and my ko-fi members get a bunch of perks like seeing all the sprites and CGs~! it's called crime city and you can romance 10 different criminals :3c

I just started toying with the art school idea today while idly daydreaming about what kinds of visual novels I wish I could play

for anyone who's been second-guessing making their own dating sim or visual novel, it's actually much simpler than you think thanks to programs like ren'py! there are a bunch of tutorials online that made it absurdly easy to figure it out. I would say the most challenging parts of it (for me anyway) is drawing all the environments and backgrounds and writing a cohesive story with good routes!

Mouthwashing Headcanons: Capitano Edition

Captain Grant Curly. A 43 year old man that's 6'7'' and around 250+ pounds of muscle. incredibly intimidating when in his presence yet he somehow makes you feel just so, so comfortable around him.

White™ (British + Canadian American that grew up in the US)

Joined Pony Express as a mechanic-in-training around 10 years before the events of the game

Professional to a T. Fully fluent and corporate drivel to everyone on the Tulpar's dismay, but not afraid to turn it off to help someone. (i.e Jimmy's eval and Anya's breakdown)

Bisexual disaster that thought he was straight until his 20s. He also has a tendency to get infatuated with the ones he close with.

His main love language is touch. He does things like pats your back, taps your shoulder to get your attention, or even just rests his hand on your shoulder when talking to you. High fives. Fist bumps. those kinds of things. He also loves both saying and receiving words of affirmation.

Physically healthy as an ox, but struggles a lot mentally. He deals with insomnia, anxiety, depression, DPDR, C-PTSD, and selective mutism. The poor man gets too stressed and just. Shuts down.

Despite being focused on his physical health he is an off and off social smoker. He doesn't buy any himself but will ask for one if they start smoking.

He has a debilitating fear of needles and blood will pass out every time he sees either or gives blood.

He kinda slept around and was a(n unintentional) heartbreaker in Highschool/College while trying to figure himself out. He's of course settled down since then but he still has a. uh. "High drive."

Former frat boy that can still party like one at his age. He never gets blackout drunk though... not anymore at least. Jimmy has some great stories about him.

He is surprisingly a bit of a shit stirrer and ornery. He never does anything serious but he just does little things. Maybe Daisuke's mad that he can't spend time with Anya, and instead of telling him that she's busy and he can't do anything about it, he goes to her and tells her that Daisuke would just LOVE to spend time with her, but for some reason he's having issues.

For another example. I fully believe this man gave Daisuke extra sweetener. Only the captain had the code for it, and while there's like. a myriad of ways to work around it I just wanna think Daisuke begged him for some and he caved.

While some of his obliviousness is just... Curly being oblivious, a substantial amount of it is him faking it. Hinting that he knows what you're talking about but not saying it kind of stuff if that makes sense? If you've worked with upper management you know what I'm talking about lol.

He's not one to get angry but very much blows up when he does. He holds a lot of resentment because he wants to keep the peace and doesn't say what's on his mind and it all overflows whenever someone crosses a line with him. Jimmy throughout his years of Jimmyisms has only ever made him deeply angry once, and he seems genuinely kinda sad and terrified when he talks about it

It occurred to me rather recently that LO is very malegaze ecchi coded. (×_×)⌒☆

Mild CW: Way too many LO panels objectifying women & their bodies. (-_-;)

I mean, think about it: The seemingly endless panels focused on the female characters' chests & bodies in general; the many sequences of them being only half dressed/changing or their clothes "spontaneously" revealing even more of their bodies; the excessive, squicky innuendos & dialog about sex & women's sexual attractiveness; almost every male character being a perverted, lustful chauvinist who objectifies women like nobody's business; almost every female character having large breasts & wide hips, and whose worth is only defined by how attractive she is to any male admires; etc. If I didn't know any better, I'd say all this was describing an ecchi piece of media for men. (・_・;)

Every time the female characters are wearing revealing clothing or changing, it's never shown in the context of, "These are natural, normal occurrences for women and aren't depicted in a sexualized manner," as it likely would if LO was as "made for women" as it claims to be; it's ALWAYS in the context of, "lOoK hOw HoT sHe IsSsSsS, lOoK aT hEr BoObSsSs, LoOk At HeR bUtTtTtT hUeHuEhUe." The compositioning intentionally makes their attractiveness front & center of the panel, as if that's all the audience is supposed to focus on.

The male characters, esp Hades, constantly have moments where the female characters, esp Persephone, do something "passively/unknowingly seductive" and they react with lustful intentions, and maybe try to hide/suppress their lust in an often "comical" light. Let alone the men will talk about the women with disgusting locker room-type humor behind their backs.

Even if the women's sexual wants & needs are discussed, the men's are always top priority of the women & the narrative, with full emphasis on the physical sexuality of the women and how they please the men with their appearance & actions/attention, oftentimes literally revealing themselves to the men to do so.

Whenever we get an "eye contact" or "first person perspective" panel, 9/10 times it's of a female character, namely Persephone, from the perspective of a male character. And Persephone in particular practically has, like, a reverse harem full of men constantly ogling & lusting after her, and it's only depicted as wrong when it's Apollo doing so; for Hades, Ares, Hermes, etc., it's either depicted as *:・ﾟlOvE*:・ﾟ or comedic.

I'm not at all saying women can't be portrayed with the stereotypical "ideal hourglass figure" in female-targeted media btw, but literally every female character having perky, full busts & birthing hips is obv standard issue for the ecchi genre. Even the women with different body types initially ended up reverting to the same hourglass figure as every other woman most of the time, except Athena who is just color-swapped Hades. Though this is mostly due to same face/body type syndrome lol.

Let alone all the fertility goddess bullcrap that unapologetically exploits these women and are literally used by men for their power, and the only way to harness said power is by establishing a sexual bond with these men. Holy fricking crap, actually typing that out made me realize just how fricking disgusting that plotline really is, wtfh.

LO is obv targeted towards a female audience, being essentially a self-insert power fantasy wish-fulfillment story made by & for the creator herself. And it's extremely common for media of all demographics to subconsciously cater to the male gaze simply bc it's become so prevalent, and that isn't necessarily harmful. However, LO is known for touting itself as a "feminist retelling," with much of its audience being teenage girls & middle-aged women looking for either romance & role models or as much wish-fulfillment as RS lol.

But LO doesn't do anything in the least for women, all it does is give them the wholly wrong idea of "your value is only measured by how men perceive you, and the only way for men to perceive you positively is to exploit & embrace yourself for them, then your sole existence & everything you do should only revolve around those men. This is true love." Yeah, that's exactly the message impressionable young girls need to hear RS, way to go. /s (×෴×)

I know you talked about the eels being the world’s greatest uncles, so I gotta ask, where were they in your yandere Azul fic in His Blueberry Eyes? I know for narrative purposes you wanted to isolate the reader, but I gotta know: did they know that Azul pushed reader down the stairs? Were they present over the pregnancy? Whenever they had to babysit the reader when they moved to the city, did they ever ask her how she was feeling or if she was willing to try again? I don’t know, I still have feelings for that fic and I’m craving fluffy platonic Jade and Floyd who desperately wanted to coddle a baby tako.

The tweels were going to be excellent uncles in HBE, but Azul tries to keep them at arm's length from you. >_< part of me likes to imagine the twins catch on to his obsession in its early stages, but they don't say anything because they know how sensitive Azul can be and they both note how obviously happy he is with you (and surely Azul knows better than to let his attachments spiral into something unhealthy, right?). They're not going to coddle him; he can take care of himself.

This also isn't their marriage, so marital problems are between you and Azul. It's not something the twins want to involve themselves in, lest they risk complicating matters or unintentionally causing more rifts. I think it's a difficult tightrope to walk because they try to tell him he needs to relax and stop being so controlling and manic, but Azul is stubborn and insists that the twins don't know anything; they have no room to say anything about his marriage because it's not theirs.

The main issue is that Azul can't keep anything from the twins even if he wanted to. They read him like a book. So even though Azul never admits the real reason for why you lost the baby, the twins can read between the lines and suspect the truth hiding behind layers of lies. It hurts because the twins were very supportive and excited when you were pregnant, but Azul sort of,,, shut them out during that time because he was so worried and anxious and self-conscious. He also just doesn't like the idea of other people, even his close friends, being within your proximity when you're pregnant.

As for when they'd look after you, I think neither of you talked about Azul. Most of all, the twins wish for your happiness and if Azul's an unhappy subject they'll make the day all about you to put your mind at ease, if only for the afternoon. I imagine Floyd and Jade took you to all of the places you'd like to go to but never could because of Azul. Sure, he wants you to stay home, but that's so boring. When you're with the twins, you can do whatever you want and be free and safe and happy.

Maybe they dropped little hints about the main issue at hand. I imagine both of them (in the days leading up to the scene in HBE where he kills you) put the idea of divorce in your head in hopes that it might help you figure out what to do or where to go from there (though they really couldn't have imagined Azul could be capable of something like murder; that surprises even them). Maybe they pulled you aside and simply told you, "Whatever you choose to do going forward, we're here in case you need us," or something along those lines to let you know you're not alone in this and that you have their support. Because it's painful to see both you and Azul suffering in different ways, and the twins value family and friendship so much. It's unhappiness all around. T_T

Even though they are only mentioned in the fic, I imagine Jade and Floyd were quite fond of you. Perhaps it's a platonic fondness (or a romantic fondness if you would like to read it as such), but they really do care for you. If I were to ever write more with this universe, I'd like to include scenes in which the reader interacted with them or what they do now that Azul is in custody. There is a lot that could be expanded upon.

And maybe the "hotel" Reader mentions staying at is actually the code word for Jade and Floyd's place. Maybe that was her safe haven. :( maybe the twins and their visits were what kept her sane for such a long time. In the aftermath of everything, Jade and Floyd miss you. The gutting thing about loss is that, even though they know you're never going to return, they still wait for a phone call from you or a text from Azul telling them to go look after you. Without you or Azul around, it's going to feel empty and lonely for a long time.

Waking Dream (fnaf) Chapter 016

"Oh, wow! You really DO glow in the dark!"

You muffled a groan into the fabric of your hand, irritated at the sickly-sweet voice of Jessi as she continued to shower Moon with "compliments". If you made any noise, Sun and Moon would be sure to kick you back to their room again, but it was hard with how much their new coworker was trying to get into their pants...

"Really? I hadn't noticed," Moon sassed, taking a note from Sun whenever he'd get stressed but couldn't act out due to protocol. He spoke no more, choosing to focus on the task at hand rather than indulge in their coworker's fantasies. The stars in his palms glowed softly in the darkness of the daycare as he picked out the best spots to place them. Finding a particularly empty corner of the playset, the naptime attendant twisted off another piece of putty and made it pliable by squishing it between his fingers a few times. The bar was low enough for him to jump to with his powerful robotic legs without the need of his and Sun's ceiling hook, but plenty high enough to prevent the human from following. You watched all of this from his pant's pocket, squirming in place to try and right yourself from the sudden ascension.

"I know, Starlight," he rasped in a soft whisper, taking care to keep you out of Jessi's direct line of sight. You three still hadn't figured out how to unpossess the doll they'd made for you. It had been a couple of days since their impromptu movie night. The other animatronics--even the older ones, like Chica and Foxy--had been of little help. They had some hazy memories of being possessed by the victims of Afton's rampage, but couldn't remember how or why they had been released. Although you were growing frustrated with the lack of progress in regaining your free-floating form, you could not deny that you enjoyed the feeling of being hugged by Sun and Moon. The kisses to the top of your head, however, left you feeling more than a little bit flustered and confused. You didn't want to read too much into it, in the off chance that they just liked cute, soft things. It wasn't like they'd confessed or anything. Sun had even excused the odd behavior as them coping with their corrupted data...

"You must be excited about tomorrow?" Jessi pushed for more conversation, interrupting your darkening thoughts. "It's opening day and all the kiddies will be here! I can't wait to watch you and Sun in your element. It's going to be so much fun!" She clapped her hands in her excitement, clearly delighted. While she continued to list off all the "fun" activities they would be doing tomorrow, Moon hung his stars around the daycare. You watched the way his hands would spasm whenever the woman spoke, the scarlet of his eyes flashing every time they went to her.

Things would go so much faster if they each had their own body. It would eliminate the nightly maintenance your friends were forced to undergo, too, since their "eclipse" protocol was on the fritz. While you didn't understand all of the technical jargon, you did know that Sun and Moon were having issues switching between each other. Their codes kept "sticking" together--"like glitter glue", as Sun had described--making it difficult to fully separate. Peter had to peel them apart bit by bit every night. He had even switched Moon to the primary AI as his head ran cooler than Sun's. How it was explained to you made it seem that it had been Sun's more "excitable" emotions that had caused Moon to snap that night in the party room. Now that the brighter of the two was placed as a "backup", the naptime attendant had a clearer head and more control.

It didn't mean that Sun was thrilled about the arrangement, though...

"Stop it!" Moon hissed. You whipped your head to stare up at him, seeing as you were on top of the playset and no longer in sight of Jessi. He slammed a plastic star to the left of a giant depiction of Roxy's face, muttering an apology when you jumped. "Talking to Sun," was all he uttered in defense. His gaze was anywhere but on you, even going back to where he had left Jessi earlier. You could both hear her humming a lullaby while moving around the daycare to place fairy lights, cushions, and blankets in the designated areas.

You bit your tongue, focusing on corralling that spurt of jealousy as it reared its ugly head for the umpteenth time.

Without a word--his mind clearly on something or someONE else--Moon returned to the main floor of the daycare, his hands now empty and his task complete. Like the fanatic she was, Jessi beelined towards Moon the second his slippers hit the playmats. Even he was startled by her speed.

"All done?" she chirped, hands behind her back and chest out, as usual. You could not help but notice how she'd been choosing outfits with low-cut necklines and a size smaller than she could actually fit. Today, she wore a white blouse with several of the top buttons undone, revealing ample cleavage, and a pair of stone-washed jeans with white stars speckled all over. The grey sneakers donning a similar pattern were left in a cubby near the entrance since the daycare policy was to not wear outside shoes on the playmats. The jewelry, too, was minimal because of the rules--little hands were notorious for being grabby and shoving things into their mouths--so no dangling earrings today. All she had on were little star studs in her ears, a choker with a moon hanging from it, and something on a very specific finger that had your metaphorical blood simmering.

You were unable to speak or move anymore with Jessi literally standing not even a foot away. It was like playing a real-life game of Toy Story--act like a doll in front of the humans so no one knew you were, well, not alive, but definitely not inanimate. Lucky for you, Moon had kept Jessi from snatching you up as she had been wont to do the moment she'd seen you hanging out in his pocket. She was even eyeing you now, looking more than a touch jealous at what she believed to be just a plushie. A smug sense of satisfaction quelled the worst of your frustration...for now.

"Welp! Looks like all the preparations for opening day are done!" She stepped closer to the nighttime bot who either didn't notice or didn't care as he remained in place. "I still have an hour left on my shift. Is there anything you'd like to do?"

Whatever calm you'd managed to scrape together previously vanished like water in a scalding pan. The sly tone underlying her words and the fact that she was far too close to your cru-FRIEND were souring your mood and fast.

The faint beeping that had become a constant companion since that day you'd lost control grew steadily louder in your head while a wave of icy anger washed through your core. It barely registered that there was a faint mist at Jessi's mouth whenever she exhaled or the way her pretty, made-up face scrunched in confusion as the temperature in the daycare plummeted. Only Moon's hand settling on top of your head pulled you back enough to not throw another tantrum, his thumb caressing the felt of your cheek. Like a balloon deflating, all of the negativity whooshed out of you, leaving you exhausted and upset. While the build up to that point had been slower than the last, it had also struck out of nowhere. The emotional burst from her practically straddling him the last time had been easier to excuse, but, this time, she'd barely even hinted at anything unsavory.

Before Jessi could question what had just happened or Moon could swoop in to distract her, the doors to the daycare swung open. All three sets of eyes moved to the intruder, settling down when they saw Peter Lawrence standing there. Well, Jessi settled down, you and Moon were quick to notice how stiff and, frankly, unfriendly their patron appeared.

"Moon, I need to speak with you in my office," he ordered, his gaze flicking down to you, purposefully, before looking back at Moon with a barely-perceptible nod. He didn't even bother to fake a smile at the blonde when he spoke to her next. "You can head home for the day, Miss Newman. Jon is waiting for you in the lobby." Without waiting for a response or a rebuttal, he spun on his heel and hurried out of the daycare. Moon was quick to follow, not even sparing the woman behind him a glance.

"What's happening?" you squeaked from his pocket once the pair of you had made it into the main part of the mall.

"Don't know," was lunar bot's answer, just as confused as you were. He took you out of your temporary resting place to hold you steady against his chest. The daycare attendant may have longer legs, but Peter was moving FAST. While he could easily keep up, it would be quite the bumpy ride for you against his thigh.

You two didn't have long to stew in your confusion and worry before you made it to the main office. To your surprise, Freddy and the others were there, all looking just as clueless as you. Before any greetings could be uttered, Peter grabbed his laptop, hooked it up to the monitor display he had bolted to a wall, and hit a few keys to project his screen for all to see. It took an embarrassing long moment before it registered what you were staring at.

Multiple things popped up--documents, a newspaper article, and a couple of photos. You ignored the writing for the most part, only catching a few words here and there--"Jane Doe", "coma", and "suspicious". It was the photos that drew your eye. There were only two--each of them earmarked with the title of "Jane Doe"--but they were enough to have your world slamming to a stop and your mind reeling.

It was you. It was your face, your hair, your CLOTHES... At least the shirt, anyway. The rest of it was covered by a hospital blanket. You couldn't tell the color of the eyes because they were closed and half of "your" face was covered by an oxygen mask. Both photos--one whole body shot and one closeup of your upper torso and head--revealed bruises and scratches marring the pallid, sunken skin that didn't have bandages covering it. Even through the camera lens, it was plain to see how much weight you must have lost lying there in bed, looking to all the world like you were asleep. Machines were lit up around you, probably beeping and whirring up a storm in the busy hospital room as they struggled to keep you alive for just a bit longer.

"Oh, Lass..." Foxy managed to whisper into the silence of the room when no one else could even find their voice. Even you could only stare on in a strange mix of horror and confusion, your tiny, plush body tense. Thankfully, Peter decided to break into the awkward atmosphere he'd created with his discovery.

"It took a while, but I found them at a hospital nearby," he started, running his fingers through his bedraggled hair only to mess it up further. "They're alive but in a coma. Apparently, there was a hit-and-run behind our building and no form of identification or anything. No one has come forward to say they recognize them either, but the media hasn't been all that interested in the case since it isn't 'juicy' enough for them," he went on to explain, growing more and more irritated by the end of it. Despite his agitation, it was still impressive that he'd managed to scrounge up THIS much information. And all he had to work with was how you looked and the strange beeps you kept hearing.

With a glance at the photo that showed a good portion of the machines around the room that housed your body, you could venture a guess that it was one of those that was making that phantom noise. You were just thankful that your spiritual ears weren't picking up on EVERYTHING there. That would be a nightmare to deal with 24/7.

"But if Cocoa is there, then how are they here?" Bonnie interrupted with a wave of his hand in your general direction. While he didn't outright say it, everyone knew what the purple bunny was getting at.

How can they be a ghost if they were still alive?

"I know it isn't what we are used to." There was a collective shudder when Peter referred to their past hauntings, but everyone was quick to move on. "But the doctors there told me that it was very...touch and go when they were first admitted. It could be that they just got separated from their body..." his words trailed off, his thumb and forefinger toying with the flashdrive he wore around his neck. You knew that he was sinking deep into thought when he started doing that, and it would be near-impossible to snap him out of it.

"So we just have to get Chickadee back into their body!" Chica reasoned with an excited squeal. She was practically vibrating in place, determination etched into every feather.

"Uh, yeah? I guess, but how?" Bonnie pointed out, but was promptly ignored when Freddy gave his approval to the idea. The others naturally fell into line behind him, seeing him as their leader. Only Monty and you, shockingly enough, seemed to join him in his apprehension. Even Moon was hanging onto every detail of Chica's grandoise "plan" as she spouted off ideas on how to achieve their new goal. Everything from pizza party to movie marathon to laser tag was bounced around. It seemed her roadmap to you living again was to make you "happy" enough to reunite with your body.

There was no way that it was that simple...

I HATE THEM!!! 😡😤 (proceeds to make art, stories, and headcanons of them as they occupy my mind space for how many months already) (slight suggestive warning for some of these HCs)

I like to think they dated way before the present time (they dated in college, this hc is long so i'm not adding it here rn). So in the present games where they meet again (USUM's RR and Masters) Ghetsis slowly starts to develop romantic feelings for Giovanni (again). This bothers him to no end, especially since he suspects that Gio knows. Mafia man does figure out and secretly uses it to his advantage in their rivalry. Overtime though, Gio starts to feel mutual (again). This leads to him subtly flirting with Lettuce causing the latter to grow even more frustrated with his romantic man crush. He shouldn't fall in love with his enemy for world domination yet he did and he suspects that the other likes him too so now he's even more infuriated.

The jist of their dynamic pre-relationship is just Ghetsis being a tsundere who is also obsessed with the don bastardo (which he tells himself is hatred) and Gio being a smug flirt that takes any chance he gets to infuriate lettuce priest more.

They're very professional, most people wouldn't even notice that there's something going on between these two since they act all curt and business like everywhere. But if one stops and observes them, they'd notice how there is a minuscule hint of fondness in the way they speak to each other and how they have their own code in saying their affections. Also, look closely and you'll realize the glances they share have a deeper meaning than just mere looks. To put it short, they have a lot of eye sex, it's subtle but once you notice it, it becomes clear as day. Their grunts feel awkward whenever they end up noticing; it feels like they're intruding on private matters though they're not sure what.

Ghetsis has mobility issues, particularly his BW2 rendition, and he can't really walk and run for long distances anymore. Good thing he has a strong, beefy stud of a boyfriend to carry him around. Whenever Gio does that, Ghet becomes extremely flustered but doesn't stop him. While he does prefer dealing with his own problems and issues himself with the stubborness and persistence of a lone wolf, he's still a sucker for being treated and pampered like royalty. (After all, he is from a royal lineage and a pompous fuck)(expect a comic based on this soon)

In most other ships that involve Gio, he tends to subtly tune down his cruel, aggressive, and domineering traits for his partner and tries to be more considerate, slow and careful (still keeps the charming mafia godfather vibe tho). In this case, he doesn't. Being that they're both old and shitty bastards, Gio doesn't feel the need to adjust himself much for Ghet since he doesn't play nice either. If anything, he can be as blunt and straightforward as he wants to be. He won't hesitate to just slam the green-haired maniac down his office desk, rip apart his robes and have his way with him until sunrise.

Ghetsis likes to ramble and rant about whatever, whenever convenient. Gio doesn't mind this and lets him go on about whatever topic his partner wants to talk about. Usually he'd also return a comment if the other inquires on what he thinks or when he so chooses but in some instances, Gio just gets lost in the sound of Ghetsis voice, how he would be so full of emotion and conviction in the way he speaks and just the sound of it all can be what he considers music to him. You can tell he's not really paying attention to what Ghetsis says and is just enjoying the sound of his voice when he looks at him utterly lovestruck (well, as lovestruck as how a hardened mafia boss can be)

There are only a handful of people Ghetsis would allow to touch his hair; his hair care routine takes a long time to do and anyone that messes with it is basically asking for death. Gio is one of those few people. This pretty much means that he trusts him enough now to let him touch his hair and boy, he made a pretty good decision. Feeling his hand comb through his locks feels soothing and well, he does like how he pulls his hair from behind whenever they fck.

Gio most definitely had a long list of past lovers and even now that he's seeing someone, he still has many others clamoring to be with him. Ghetsis does not like this one bit. Whenever he's with Gio and someone tries to get too close to Gio, he just shoots them a scowl that can make milk sour up immediately and sticks closer to Gio. Gio does tell him to calm down about it and that he's a grown ass man who can make his own decisions but he does find it endearing seeing how much Ghetsis is in love with him.... even if it is going full possesive, but he can deal with that. (expect a comic on this too)

And their children are just screaming in horror in the background, "DON'T MAKE HIM MORE OF A THREAT THAN HE ALREADY IS!!!!"

Adding Engine Sounds

This proved more difficult than I had anticipated. My basic idea was to have an engine purring sound start when the IA_Move code was first triggered, and then have it stop when the event was cancelled or completed. This required various sequences and Do Once blocks to prevent it from looping, and even now it's not a perfect system.

I lifted this Spawn Sound Attached - Stop - Spawn Sound 2D system from a side project of mine, where I needed a way to stop the hissing of a flamethrower when it stopped firing. It hasn't carried over perfectly though, because I get loads of error messages whenever I play. I know the reason for this - the 'End X Sound' custom events are trying to stop sounds that haven't been spawned yet, i.e. trying to stop the sound for moving forward when Q has been pressed. I can't think of a way to fix this just yet, but I have at least identified the problem so it can be easily fixed if I have time later.

Deciding on how to make the actual sound was tough. I knew what I wanted the engine to sound like - reverberating, industrial, but also somewhat warbly like a sci fi spaceship engine. Lore-wise I haven't decided how the tanks are powered, but it'd probably be "cells" or some kind of generic energy source. The main thing is that they are sci fi vehicles at the end of the day, and I didn't want them to sound like real life tanks.

I looked through various videos like this to see if there was any usable material, but none of it was conveying the sort of sound I wanted. So, I watched a few videos about the foley artists for films like Star Wars, to see how they created iconic sounds.

I was interested to see that R2D2 was a combination of synth noises, and Ben Burtt's own voice slightly modulated. That gave me the idea to just make the tank noise myself, and edit them slightly.

This is the final result. It's fairly close to what I had in mind for the sounds, and probably the best system I will get until I figure out how to fix the error messages. There is a general whirring when you turn, but when you move it is overlaid with a deeper engine sound. One other slight problem is that if you don't take your fingers off QAED (i.e. going from moving to rotating in a single motion), the code doesn't register a change and continues to play the engine sound. It shouldn't be massively noticeable, and I have larger problems anyway. The key here is getting the MVP to a functional level. I can't get hung up on small, mostly inconsequential issues when I still need to add enemy sounds, a better map, et cetera.

∇ - old age/aging headcanon

metal: ageless in a much more literal sense than even shadow. he doesn't factor in his "physical" age, and doesn't particularly "identify" with any number-age or specific category otherwise. he simply exists, and this does not change. the only thing that does change is his understanding of and relationship with the world around him, and that develops at such a breakneck pace it can't even really be equated to human development.

like in the span of two years, he goes from "rudimentary understanding of emotions to the point of being childish and otherwise acting on impulse" to "has made the decision himself to take on the role of an adult (who will act on impulse anyway if he lets himself/maybe still has Anger Issues)". this exceptionally responsible/mature demeanor is especially the case when in stardust neo form. if anything, that form is a shorthand for "i'm taking control of the situation and am making my status extremely clear".

he wasn't coded/designed to be a specific age like sage presumably was, so i'd liken him more to a typical self-learning AI that started with such restrictive protocols it made him hard to develop beyond "attack this, kill that, be violent". once those restrictions were lifted, though, he was free to figure out what he himself wanted to be. basically, metal is whatever the hell he establishes himself to be, and 2+ years out in the AU, that happens to be [nebulous concept of an adult]. i expect that to be the default going forward.

in terms of appearance/capabilities, that's sure to evolve over time with more upgrades and such, but right now he's pretty content with his current specs.

shadow: wibbly hand gestures. he seesaws between kid and adult early on, but by 1-2 years out in the AU, he's a lot more solidly in the "adult" category unless in specific company.

you could see it as code switching; with his close friend, he's more free to be "childish" (expressive, honest about emotions and needs, etc; i am not talking about straight up age regression). with strangers/colleagues/etc, he's much more "adult" (reserved, stone-faced, doesn't talk more than necessary, etc). with metal specifically, he's neither, but is naturally unguarded and honest.

in terms of appearance, the only major changes will be whenever he ends up with new scars, leading to more pale spots in his fur. by 2+ years later, literally all of his limbs have some level of discoloration, and the bottom half of his chest fluff is gone, so like, he's showing no signs of being any less reckless. the only thing remotely slowing him down is the occasional achy knees/hands, and the more he has to regenerate those joints, the achier he's going to get, so i could see him maybe properly slowing down in another ten or so years if he's still pushing it.

overall, similar to metal, he's whatever he establishes himself to be, but there's still no specific number-age he attributes to himself. if metal is ageless in mind, shadow is ageless in body, so he just exists in whatever capacity is comfortable at the time. neither of them use it as a "legal loophole", neither are claiming to be something they're not, and neither are going to "age" in any capacity beyond how they're perceiving the world. they are both inherently mature enough to navigate the world appropriately.

oh boy where do i even start. this is like a dream come true for me honestly. i'm going to try to stick to whats actually canon as much as possible, so i wont be getting into my own headcanons here.

i know for a fact im gonna end up typing some parapgraphs so here, i made a table of contents.

spencer is one of the youngest venturiantale characters. the wiki states that he is 17, but when he is first introduced he says that he is 12 years old, so i'm not really sure where the fandom wiki got 17 from. he IS characterized as a young teenaged boy so really his age can be anywhere inbetween those 2 in the present day of canon (which is like... vaguely 2010s.) obviously if you're doing like timeskip aus or whatever he can be an adult.

he is very easily annoyed especially when it comes to stupid people, of which there are an abundance in the gmod roleplay cast. whenever someone ticks him off he tends to call them an "absolute nerd!!!" something which i struggle to incorporate into my own depictions because i can never seem to get it to sound natural. i mean, he himself is portrayed to be this geeky insufferable know-it-all, so it's strange that he would call other people "nerd"s, especially when theyre being dumb. but i digress. short paragraph compared to the other ones but as he's presented in canon, he really does have a simple composition. he's a nerdy kid who hates people and loves to be alone and gets angry easily.

it's hard to discern what spencer likes, but it's easy to tell what he dislikes because he'll make it known. pokemon, power rangers, barbies, really anything pink and girly (with some glaring exceptions such as being a brony and having no issue with sailor moon) and more probably. he's always looking for faults in anything people like. with pokemon, it was that it's a ripoff of digimon; with power rangers, it was that it's just a localization of super sentai, and for this reason he actually likes sailor moon because it isnt derivative. not sure what his feelings are on g4 mlp being a reboot. maybe he prefers the older gens? g3 mlp is really girly and pink though even more than g4 is so maybe he would just be a gen 1 fan and also watch mlpfim. (speculation) the wiki lists his occupation(s) as "brony, hacker, weeb" which is a really good list of things to be into and none of them are jobs. and he HAS had a job at least once is the funny part. he worked at the front desk of a random hotel. anyways from this we can conclude that he probably likes certain anime, likely the more obscure and plot-heavy ones. and he also is really apeshit bananas at computers. he knows ALL THE CODES. all of them. he spends most of his time on the computer or in bed watching anime. the shelves inbetween? i like to imagine he keeps his figures and toys there. i think he's a dc comics fan, but i can't remember if its canon or not.

he's a troglobite dwelling almost exclusively in the basement of the acachalla house, or sometimes even in lower, secret basements. one time the acachallas moved and they left him there, and when they came back to get some stuff he rose out of the front lawn like a zombie and was like nuh uh uh this is my house now. at least once he was eaten by giant dirt worms under the house. in canon it is stated that he is not allowed to leave the basement, which seems abusive to me. i like to headcanon that spencer only THINKS he's not allowed to leave the basement because that's how it used to be in his original family that he ran away from. but thats not canon; the canon is that he's basically a captive of the acachalla household. he digs tunnels and becomes allied with the mole people but overall it doesnt seem like he minds living underground. anyways.

content warning: cult. also child death and suicide? i guess. before being adopted by the acachallas, spencer was the leader of a cult worshipping an entity known as the spence. the spence was an extremely powerful god who died or something and the mission of the cult was to resurrect him. little spencer, only 12 years old at most, killed himself in an act of ritual sacrifice. he became the mighty spence incarnate, and after gaining new life, he immediately started killing the members of his cult (because they couldnt correctly answer his trivia questions or something), and ordering them to kill one another. then he flew away on the back of a giant seagull all the way across dimensions to little butts north carolina. and then presumably his debut video happened (he goes to gamestop where gertrude is working and annoys her so much with his questions that she beats him to death with a crowbar).

O.K. now some random things. starting with the one i never shut up about: he's definitely bisexual and/or nonbinary BASED ON the situation that occurs in the killer teletubby video when he meets mabeline, a girl cosplaying as johnny ghost. he expresses interest or perhaps attraction to her (??) based on her appearing almost exactly like johnny ghost but having a girl's voice. he says, and i quote, "am i seeing... someone as hot as johnny ghost, but yet also with a feminine voice? that's like the best of both worlds, i dont know where i sign up" like there is no cishet way to interpret that i fear. anyways he also canonically has ocd and at one point, a fear of grass. a lot of this information you can just get from reading the fandom wiki but im so so so glad you asked me instead. he has a level 67 warlock in world of warcraft. he is literally the joker. his braces are so rusty they can be used as magical bullets. he's such an enigma i cant help but be obsessed with him. anyways thats the official spencer guide by me the spence enthusiast. also i have a little doll of him hes awesome

These are good resources for people who are interested in saving clips from their favorite streams and streamers!

Whether you want to download things for your own records or because you'd like to share them online, it's nice to know how to do it, especially when so many streams become lost media once they're deleted off Twitch.

Here are a few programs that I use when clipping things for Royal Archivist!

Twitch's built-in download feature

If you're downloading your own clip, this is the easiest method to use

First, navigate to your clips page.

To do this, click on your Twitch icon and go to "Creator Dashboard." There will be a row of icons on your left - click the fifth button from the top (the one above the settings icon) and click on the link that says "Clips."

At the top of the page, click on "Clips I've Created" and you should see a list of every clip you've ever made (regardless of whether or not you've published them, the clips are there!)

Click on the share button, and the list shown in the photo below will pop up.

After you click on the "Download" button, a new tab will open up with the clip (which will autoplay, so heads up if you have your volume turned up high!)

Right click on the video and click "Save Video As"

That's all there is to it! Please keep in mind that Twitch's download function only works for clips you've made! You cannot use it to download VODs, or other people's clips.

Open Video Downloader

If you've ever wanted to download any kind of video, I'm sure you've heard of Youtube-dl. There are different versions of this program, but some of them are a bit finicky and if things stop working, it can be difficult and frustrating trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it — which is why I recommend this program.

Open Video Downloader, aka youtube-dl-gui, is one of the best video downloaders I've ever used. It's basically Youtube-dl with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that makes the program very easy for anyone to use.

Pros:

No coding knowledge required! VERY user-friendly.

The creator fixes user issues very quickly! Whenever the program experiences a problem, a new update is released within 24 hours.

It can download videos from pretty much all major social media platforms, including Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, Twitch clips, Instagram, and more. (You'll need to do a roundabout cookie-saving process for Instagram though. If you have any questions about that, feel free to DM me!)

Cons:

You can't adjust the length of what you want to download. If you want to download a 2 minute section from a 5 hour Youtube VOD, you'll have to download the entire video.

On rare occasions, I've had issues where it cannot download an unlisted Youtube video. There are sometimes ways to get around this, but it's a pain and usually not worth the effort.

How to use it:

Download the latest version of the program from GitHub. Scroll all the way down to "Assets" and select the version that's right for your computer. (For example, I use Windows, so I would download the .exe file).

Once you've installed it, you can start downloading things! For this example, let's say I want to download Quackity's "Welcome to the QSMP" video. All I need to do is copy the link and paste it into the white box at the top of the program.

Once that's done, you should see the video pop up in your download queue. You can queue multiple videos to download at once (you can also download entire playlists too). When you're ready, click the green download button on the bottom right (as shown in the picture below) or if you only want to download one specific video from your queue, click the download button (circled in red) next to the video.

You can adjust the quality of the video you want to download, and in theory you can choose whether to download just the audio or just the video of a video, but personally that's never worked for me. That might just be a me issue though.

If you'd like to change where your videos are saved to, click the Folder button (circled in yellow) and choose a download destination. If nothing is chosen, it will default to your Downloads folder.

There are ways you can customize this program, but like I said earlier, this program is very very easy to use and does not require any tinkering whatsoever. You open it, download what you want, then close it. Nice and simple!

Twitch Downloader

Twitch Downloader is by far the BEST Twitch download program I have ever used. I've used several different ones, some which have broken because of Twitch's updates, others which have fallen into disrepair because their creator no longer updates the program, but this one has been working consistently for me for a little over a year now. I've kept it very close to my chest because I'm terrified it'll stop working one day, but it's better to share resources than horde them out of fear.

Pros:

HD quality for all downloads! Whatever quality the stream was, that's the quality the download will be (unless you adjust anything in the settings).

The best feature of this program is you can adjust how much you want to clip! Only want a 30 second clip from a 6 hour VOD? You can specify the section you want to download so long as you know the timestamps where you want the clip to start and where you want it to end.

You can download entire VODs.

When saving the file, it will automatically enter the original name of the stream and the stream date. (You can change this, but it's very handy when you're downloading an entire VOD and not a section of one).

It will automatically prompt you to update it when a new version has been released. (But you can opt out if you want to, for whatever reason).

There are a lot of other features available, however, I've never tried any of them so I can't say how well they work. The Github page has a lot of examples and a Q&A section though, so check that out if you're curious!

Cons:

Sometimes when you click "Get Info" it won't immediately load the VOD. This is pretty easy to solve by just restarting the program, so it's not a huge issue imo.

You can't preview clips before you download them, so you need to know the exact timestamps you want.

You can't download VODs that are privated or no longer on Twitch.

How to use:

Download Twitch Downloader from Github and install the version that works for your computer. (In this case, I would download the GUI Windows-x64.zip version. Make sure you're downloading the GUI version if you want a user-friendly version of this program).

Enter the URL of the VOD you'd like to download.

You can adjust the quality of the video and the length. If nothing is specified in the "Crop Video" section, it will download the entire VOD.

Once you're ready, click the "Download" button and you're good to go!

Other Recommendations

I'd recommend making a folder on your computer for clips. I find it very helpful to name all my files with this method: [Stream date] Streamer name - Something that helps me remember what this clip is about / something that will help me find it later, or a quote.

Example: [2-6-24] Mike - I hate capitalism

If you've got a significant amount of clips on your computer, I'd recommend backing them up and/or saving them to an external harddrive! (This is something I still need to do actually orz)

That's about it! I apologize if I've missed any steps, but hopefully everything is more or less easy enough for folks to understand! I'm someone who does not like downloading random programs onto my computer and I'm very paranoid about cyber security, but I've used these programs for over a year now, and they're very reliable and trustworthy. 10/10, I recommend both of them.

Lastly: if anyone has a recommendation for good Youtube clip downloaders, please please please let me know. I haven't found any good programs that let me specify how much of a Youtube video I'd like to download, and I am suffering. Every time I see the occasional floating SU post talking about how no one understood The Point, I both get it and immediately recognize that, due to the complex hate vortex created on tumblr during its run, people have selective memory for what legitimate and illegitimate criticisms were being made for the show. Heres a short list, do not add to it:

-the racism from outside and inside the house (human zoo full of brown people, entire bismuth plotline, white people saying garnet isn't black "shes an alien" which also happened for all of her fusions, blatant silencing of black teens written of as "the discourse" whenever they made decent talking points about anything, etc)

-people crucifying rebecca sugar for drawing illicit material as a minor (something a lot of ppl who do art or likes art makes or consumes when they get really into drawing or shipping)

-people shouting "rebecca sugar is jewish! she knows what she's doing" to any criticism at all to silence other people just engaging with the show and stating things they didn't like about certain episodes

-the reveal of rose quartz, the beautiful fat character we spent all this time learning bits and pieces about, being a skinny tall girl(pink diamond) in essentially a fat suit

-homophobic and transphobic people capitalizing on the discourse tags to shout louder and louder about small things that'd go under the radar of any other show further poisoning the cesspool (dumb shit like peridot being child coded)

-how the SU crew handled advertising when they really shouldn't have been doing any marketing ( the concrete reveal and immediate backtracking) and I do blame CN for not doing more actual marketing and trying to bank on social media clout with animators who are not equiped for this

-people asking for lowered stakes when it comes to the diamonds whole schtick because of the implications, and they could predict what the showrunners would do based on previous plotlines

-people upset because during a time where we were getting a fascism free sample(drump), the imaginary fascists get a handshake and a "okay, restorative justice time" moment

-severe lack of understanding that the show was cut short due to the ruby/sapphire wedding, and the movie and sequel series was an attempt to make up for it, and i can't say whether or not this was done well because I dropped out of SU before the movie dropped

In summary, I do think Steven Universe was important. It did do a lot of things well, and it helped open more doors for other creators to do more fun gay and trans stuff in their shows including handling difficult topics. Whether those other shows handle ALL those topics well isn't something I'm going to waste my breath on. If the writing captivates me then it captivates me, and now whether or not it's good is always second to whether or not I find it fun.

My little brother and I watched SU together like we did Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, and I was able to use the metaphor of Stevonnie to explain my nonbinary status to him without any issue. However, at some point for me, I stopped finding the show fun, and I know for a lot of people sucked into the tumblr hate vortex that meant they had to equate the show as Bad.

I don't know if I'll sit myself down and watch the movie or follow up series, but this isn't because I think they're bad. I simply have gotten back into actual adult fiction books and comics, so a lot of YA or kids content haven't been hitting those same brain spots with me like they used to when I was a minor or a young 20 something trying to figure out how to be a person.

There's more I could say about how lgbt+ writing and art is held under a tighter microscope than the most milquetoast cishet content, but there's already dozens of posts floating around that explain it better than I feel like doing at this hour.

What I will say though, is if you loved SU at first and you started to hate it, like genuinely hate it, maybe take the time to figure out when the hate started, what caused that hatred, and why you hated it, especially now that you don't have every other post on your feed talking about how SU sucks yelling in your ear.

hiiii i'll try my best to answer this considering i've not touched anything semi-related to this in like. months LOL

just a disclaimer in general that this is probably going to need some coding knowledge, and i've probably got some guides or whatnot in my coding tag if you have general questions about that and StoryInterface! also, if anyone is wondering what on earth this is about, simplebar is a custom scrollbar plug-in that you can check out right here, it's pretty cool.

first step i did was include the entirety of the simplebar.js into the story javascript, which involved going through the installation manual and looking at the bit that talks about using the <script> tag. what i ended up doing was grabbing

all the text from the urls and just putting that directly into the file, though you could probably use the <script> tags directly in the story header.

go and do the same for the css as well, pretty much using the same method you used for adding the javascript. it'll end up looking something like this once you've added it all in:

alright, so now that you've got the basics down, we're gonna head to storyinterface and all that fun stuff to make it actually work.

this goes into StoryInterface, and what it does is basically suppress any pop-up errors that show up when your window resizes. it's a known issue of simplebar, but not one i was able to figure out an actual workaround for since the passage length in a twine game does change pretty often. and since the actual scrollbar seems to work fine... i simply ignore it.

this goes into PassageHeader, and this is the part that actually creates the scrollbar, specifically around the "story" element in your html. it also includes a little script to make sure that your passage jumps all the way back up to the top whenever you start a new passage, so you're not like halfway down the page and thinking, "hold on, why are we somewhere new already-"

Rusty is a kittypet who is drawn by the forest and other kittypets are cautious about him as he's always had something about him that unsettled other cats

He seems to know about things no cat does and talks about things he's seen that no one believes exists

Rusty has the ability to basically safely separate his spirit from his body and wander around in his sleep, so long as his spirit has a place to return to

One night while he does this, his spirit travelling through the forest, he notices two cats sitting together - a blue-gray molly and a tortoiseshell molly -, talking. He isn't paying attention to what they say but watches them curiously, as he's done many times, but never so close to where all the strange forest cats slept

Suddenly, after the blue-gray she-cat leaves, the other cat looks and he realizes the tortoiseshell can see him do this and it frightens him into being wide awake

Despite his fear, though, he's also curious on what's going on and he feels himself being called towards the forest

Finally, gathering his nerves, he sets out only to find there's someone waiting for him.

The tortoiseshell from before is sitting out in the open and she greets him the moment she sees him

He asks who she is and she introduces herself as Spottedleaf and she asks if he was the cat that was spying on her and her leader

He sheepishly admits to it

Spottedleaf nods and then turns to an unseen figure that steps out of hiding. It's the blue-gray she-cat.

She's Bluestar and she admits she didn't believe in what Spottedleaf saw for a moment, but is quite curious about this young tom.

They have a long talk that ends in Rusty agreeing to join ThunderClan as long as the two she-cats promise not to tell anyone about his gift, as it has lost him many friends

With no goodbyes to anyone, he follows them

Rusty grows into Firepaw and is quickly mentored by both Bluestar and Spottedleaf. When asked, Bluestar states that she's curious if he's more suited to being a warrior or a medicine cat.

He's not interested in being a medicine cat at all, but rather Spottedleaf, being the only cat who can see him when he spirit walks, just wants to learn the extent of his abilities and such and has no interest in making him be a medicine cat apprentice.

They learn the hard way that she's not the only one, as he's noticed by another cat - a sickly ShadowClan tom.

When he returns, he mentions this and Spottedleaf informs him that who he met was Runningnose. She then speculates that perhaps its those with high ties to StarClan - aka medicine cats - who can see him.

Firepaw eventually goes to full warrior training to avoid any issues with the other medicine cats

Now able to hang out with cats his own age more often, he becomes fast friends with Ravenpaw and Graypaw, though he keeps his secret from them as he's worried they'd no longer want to be friends with him if he told them

He goes through his time in ThunderClan trying to avoid using his abilities - or, at least, not using them enough to get caught doing it

His stance on this changes after Spottedleaf dies, as he realizes he could've spied on ShadowClan and seen this coming, even though he had no clue he would've needed to spy on ShadowClan at all and it's kind of a illogical back and forth with himself

He makes a quiet promise to himself to use his powers whenever he feels he should to avoid losing anyone else

After Bluestar sends him and Graystripe to find WindClan, Fireheart uses his ability to wander until he locates where they are, leading his friend in that direction

Graystripe is in awe, thinking Fireheart is just the best tracker in the four Clans and looks up to him with great fondness

As they lead the Clan back, Fireheart is confronted by Barkface, who admits he isn't sure why, but he's certain that there's something strange about the fire-orange tom and he hopes that whatever that is, that it's for the good of the Clans

Fireheart promises that he's doing all he can to help the forest, even if he wasn't born into it

Barkface liked that

The gorge scene and Fireheart saves Sandpaw, coming to terms slowly that his powers can't help him with everything

Fireheart returns and Yellowfang is now aware of his powers, as Bluestar told her while he was gone. She wants to test his limits rather than just seeing them work. [Cinder and Bracken aren't apprenticed early]

While back to training in the medicine cat den, he learns he cannot physically interact with the living while his spirit is detached

They also learn, after he travels to the Moonstone as a spirit, that he can travel to StarClan and we learn of them a bit earlier than expected. He sees Redtail's spirit and he runs to ask him what happened, but is snapped awake by the sounds of Tigerclaw interrogating Yellowfang on why Fireheart is here

Fireheart interrupts by saying he was considering being a medicine cat

Tigerclaw accepts this answer and tells him he should bring it up with Bluestar

After he leaves, Yellowfang asks if he was telling the truth and Fireheart admits that he's not entirely sure. She informs him that if he chooses to become a medicine cat, there's always a place for him, but she warns him that it's not an easy path

Fireheart is aware of this

She also then adds that he'd never be allowed to have a mate or kits.

He's also aware of this

He goes off on a hunting patrol and while he's out he stumbles across a kittypet and she stares at him from her fence, wide-eyed. He's about to leave when she calls him 'Rusty' and he realizes that this is his sister, Princess.

Princess is happy to see him

He's happy to see Princess

They talk and she reveals she's expecting kits and he starts thinking about what Yellowfang said

Fireheart has been sneaking out to talk to his sister during the day and trains his powers with Yellowfang at night

One day Graystripe drags him off to go hunting before he can leave camp and the two of them hang out for the first time in a long time. Graystripe asks if Fireheart is actually considering being a medicine cat and he admits that he isn't entirely sure yet.

Graystripe, implying to like Fireheart, tells him that he'd rather be able to share a den with him

Fireheart didn't catch on and instead jokes that, with how much Graystripe gets into trouble, that he'll be in there more often than not if Fireheart does become a medicine cat

Graystripe is not impressed and goes off to hunt alone. Fireheart is confused on why his friend was hurt, but Graystripe refuses to talk.

After some time, Fireheart realizes that he isn't the only one sneaking out of camp and he decides to investigate, even though he was doing the same thing

There he sees Graystripe hanging out with a RiverClan cat

He confronts them and Graystripe introduces Silverstream

Fireheart scolds the two of them and Graystripe counters back that he's not the only one sneaking off to see someone

Silverstream leaves the two to argue and Fireheart asks what he's talking about.

Graystripe mentions he knows Fireheart has been going near twolegplace. He asks what business he has there.

Fireheart brings up his sister

Graystripe feels awkward now

Next time he sees Princess, he says he'd have to visit less often. Princess understands.

Whitecough is spreading through camp and Fireheart avoids the medicine cat den for the day as he's not sure what he wants to do with his life.

He goes to Bluestar and asks what he should do

Bluestar is confused

He brings up how he told Tigerclaw he was thinking of becoming a medicine cat

She asks if he's being truthful

He isn't sure

She then asks what he wants to do

He's still not sure

Bluestar gives him the option to train as a medicine cat for a couple moons and he can make his choice then

So Fireheart starts his journey as a medicine cat around the same time Bluestar gets sick. Tigerclaw's attempt to kill Bluestar ends with Fireheart almost getting hit by a car, but he manages to stumble over into ShadowClan territory. He gets scolded for doing so.

Some time later we get Cloudkit in ThunderClan. He is made aware of his kittypet origins a lot sooner and Brindleface loves him regardless and her kits defend him from being bullied.

Fireheart helps heal his Clan from whitecough and, while learning herbs, ThunderClan is attacked by rogues. They win and the Brokentail is Yellowfang's son reveal happens

Fireheart confronts Yellowfang about this and the two have a long talk about what happened with her life and how she had kits as a medicine cat

He's sympathetic but then asks why they don't just change the code

She admits she isn't sure

Fireheart promises change

She laughs a bit and says "sure"

Yellowfang is busy so she sends Fireheart to gather herbs and supplies. He brings Sandstorm for help. The two hang out and bond and she apologies for being an ass when he first joined. He accepts her apology.

The two become friends

They return to learn Cloudkit, Ashkit, and Fernkit are missing. They are found by the two adults and scolded.

Fireheart and Sandstorm are like two disappointed parents and Tigerclaw warns Fireheart not to grow too comfortable around Sandstorm or the kits

Fireheart is confused

ThunderClan helps WindClan against River and Shadow, but Fireheart is forced to stay behind, despite his worries for his Clan. Yellowfang shows him how to prepare herbs for after battles

Fire grows sus of Tigerclaw after learning that Graystripe almost died and the deputy did nothing to help. Graystripe is stuck in the medicine cat den and asks Fireheart to please make sure that the tom didn't hurt Silverstream.

Fireheart promises and Graystripe purrs, calling him a good friend before passing out

Fireheart grows more worried, however, about Tigerclaw and wants to ask Ravenpaw more about what happened that day

While Graystripe is recovering, Tigerclaw seems to be watching over the medicine cat den like a hawk. Fireheart doesn't think he'll be able to leave without being noticed and wonders if he'd be able to use his powers

Fireheart stays behind for the gathering as does Tigerclaw, the deputy stating that he doesn't trust Brokentail.

Fireheart uses his powers and travels to the barn. That's when he learns, for the first time, that he can basically create a shared dream space in StarClan for cats to talk, as he accidentally brings Graystripe as he was thinking about him while creating the space.

The three talk and Ravenpaw tells them everything, seemingly still thinking this is a dream.

Fireheart later confirms this is a dream and realizes then that he can physically interact with Ravenpaw here and realizing he's more or less controlling the tom's spirit to be there.

This makes Fireheart worried, but Ravenpaw and Graystripe wake up safely.

Fireheart has Sandstorm help him get Graystripe out of camp for a bit and the three hang out and bond, warming up to each other. Fireheart is becoming aware about these feelings he's having about Sandstorm and tries to ignore them. However, he also thinks about Yellowfang and how silly the rule that medicine cats can't have a mate or kits is, especially since it's not like he'd be the sole parent of the kits.

He realizes he's thinking like this and tries to act like he wasn't imagining a life with him and another cat

Granted he's not sure who the other cat was, but brushes Graystripe off as an option, since the tom has a mate already

Speaking of, Graystripe got them a chance to talk to a cat who had seen the battle - Graypool - and thinks she may know something. They agree to meet her the next day.

Before they go, though. Apprentices. Cinderpaw goes to Sandstorm, Brackenpaw goes to Runningwind, Brightpaw goes to Whitestorm, and Thornpaw goes to Mousefur

The plot where Graypool tells them about Mistyfoot and Stormfur happens as well as Bluestar being dismissive about it remains the same.

Everything goes about the same, minus Fireheart having warrior duties and more him learning how to be a medicine cat and having conflicting feelings about the rule about not being able to have his own family. Also maybe a bit where Brokentail taunts him about the death of Spottedleaf and how ThunderClan needs kittypets to heal them, which he does his best to ignore.

Fireheart agrees to help Graystripe visit RiverClan during the flood under the terms that he's checking if the medicine cat, Mudfur, needs any aid.

They save Mistyfoot's kits and Fireheart agrees to help them while Graystripe aids a hunting patrol. Graystripe returns, but Fireheart is permitted to stay behind.

This is when he learns that Silverstream is pregnant. He's shocked, but keeps her secret. The two talk for a while and he understands why Graystripe would admire her, as she's independent and has a strong heart. While in camp, however, he notices something strange. Like a shadow is following Silverstream wherever she walks that belongs to a much different cat.

Graystripe is still secretly delivering prey and aiding patrols while pretending to check on how Fireheart is doing.

When Fireheart returns, Bluestar has many questions for him and it makes him curious, but he assures his leader that RiverClan will be okay.

Fireheart notices Tigerclaw is visiting near the medicine cat den more often and sees him near Brokentail and is curious on what's going on. He wonders if there's something going on or if Tigerclaw has developed empathy.

There is another attempt on Fireheart's life [the almost drowning], but Longtail saves him and Tigerclaw brushes off what happened and informs Bluestar about the flood

It's revealed at the gathering by Nightstar that ThunderClan has Brokentail and the other Clans are mad

Shadow and Wind invade Thunder, get chased off etc

Cinderpaw is hurt during the fight and Sandstorm uses that as an excuse to visit, despite also being hurt and needing to visit anyway.

Fireheart notices Graystripe leave camp and he excuses himself. He follows and learns Silverstream is having her kits. Sandstorm and Cinderpaw, who followed, are surprised as well.

The group of them come together and help Silverstream, but she's actively dying. Fireheart lays next to her to help keep her warm and uses his powers for the first time in a bit and manages to use his connection to spirits to keep her alive.

Also Tigerclaw arrives on the scene as he wakes up from saving her

Silverstream and her kits are brought into ThunderClan and Graystripe is revealed to be the father.

Goldenflower helps Silverstream take care of the kits while Tigerclaw yells at the small group. Bluestar takes over the situation.

In private she admits to Fireheart that Mistyfoot and Stonefur is her kits and that she hopes Graystripe knows what he's going to do.

Fireheart asks what she thinks should happen but she doesn't answer

Tigerclaw is still mad

Silverstream is not doing great and soon enough needs to be brought back into the medicine cat den

There's talks of sending her home to avoid any tension with RiverClan, especially since Brokentail is still in camp and Crookedstar would be upset if he learned his daughter was so close to a killer

After a couple days and her condition getting worse, Bluestar decides it's time to send her home, especially after Willowpelt announces that she's expecting Whitestorm's kits

A patrol is sent to get RiverClan and Crookedstar brings some of his warriors to pick up his daughter and her kits. Graystripe goes with them, worried over his kits.

A meeting is held as Cloudkit becomes Cloudpaw. Bluestar personally trains him.

One day Fireheart asks permission to have Cloudpaw collect herbs. Bluestar allows this. He brings Cloudpaw to meet his mother, Princess, instead.

Fireheart becomes Yellowfang's official apprentice now, choosing to use his powers to help, but also still keeping up on battle-training as it's helping him calm his nerves.

While Yellowfang and Fireheart are doing some light battle training to keep their skills up and also talk about Fireheart's worries about Tigerclaw when they see Tigerclaw with a group of rogues

The two run back to camp and things go the same with ThunderClan fighting the rogues and Brokentail siding with the rogues

Fireheart gets Sandstorm's help in saving Bluestar and Sandstorm goes feral on Tigerclaw for a moment before the rogues are chased off

Bluestar exiles Tigerclaw. He tries to get cats to join him, but they all say no.

Brokentail is killed and Fireheart is dragged off to the side by Bluestar and she demands him to help her chose a deputy, since she can't choose him.

He chooses Sandstorm

Bluestar trusts him and she announces Sandstorm as her deputy. Sandstorm is shocked but accepts.

ThunderClan begins recovery and Fireheart is worried about Bluestar and Graystripe - the leader being on edge and paranoid and his friend being far away with no news on how he or Silverstream are doing.

Sandstorm visits him that night and the two talk about what happened - Fireheart not mentioning that Bluestar asked him to choose a deputy - until they fall asleep.

Some time passes and Sandstorm is taking over helping the Clan quite well; Whitestorm is proud of her. She does come to Fireheart with some worry over Bluestar and Cloudpaw, but Fireheart comforts her.

Fireheart is personally worried about what Tigerclaw is doing and seeing Bramblekit only makes him worry more. He has that talk with Goldenflower about her kits

When Fireheart heads out, he noticed Sandstorm is frustrated still and he asks what's going on She mentions apprentices ceremonies and how Bluestar brushed her off about it. She expresses both worry and annoyance about this.

The two go talk to Bluestar and Bluestar tells Sandstorm to do the ceremony if she's so worried about it

So Sandstorm does. Ashpaw is apprenticed to Dustpelt and Fernpaw is given to Darkstripe.

Bluestar's mad that Sandstorm actually did that and the Clan is a little confused, but goes with it. It's also at this point that Fireheart realizes that Cloudpaw is missing, as he was busy with so much.

He asks Bluestar and she mentioned sending him off hunting right as Cloudpaw returns with a single piece of prey.

Fireheart is worried

Bluestar later drags Fireheart off to the Moonstone, leaving Sandstorm alone. She vents to Fireheart and reveals he's the only cat she trusts and she's even on edge about Sandstorm.

She asks if he's sure about being a medicine cat, even offering to drop Sandstorm as deputy and give him Cloudpaw, but he's certain.

They are confronted by a WindClan patrol and Fireheart tries to be diplomatic and use him being a medicine cat as an excuse, but WindClan is made and refuses to let them pass.

Bluestar almost gets into a fight but Fireheart almost drags her back home.

The Clan is also angry after they learn what's going on. Except Cloudpaw, who is rather unbothered.

She returns to her den and doesn't seem worried about Cloudpaw. Fireheart is worried about Cloudpaw.

Sandstorm and Fireheart talk to each other about their worries for Bluestar and Fireheart is very supportive of Sandstorm. This helps the deputy relax and she thanks him awkwardly.

The gathering doesn't go great

Things go the same with Whitethroat and Littlecloud and Yellowfang teaches Fireheart about this disease and what to do about it However Bluestar sends the ShadowClan warriors away Sandstorm helps Fireheart escort them

Fireheart explains to the two on what to do and Littlecloud asks a lot of questions. Fireheart gives what answers he can.

Littlecloud asks if he could come see Fireheart for more information and Fireheart, surprised, looks at Sandstorm, who pretends she isn't listening He then agrees

They watch the two leave through a tunnel and Sandstorm becomes a bit worried, admitting she'd never noticed the tunnel before.

She wants to tell Bluestar, but Fireheart has her promise not to, since he wants to help ShadowClan

She hesitates but agrees

Fireheart comes back and notices that Cloudpaw is just being allowed to do whatever and Bluestar isn't really training him. He drags Cloudpaw out to train but Cloudpaw is a brat about it.

Fireheart tries to counter that he originally trained as a warrior, but Cloudpaw still doesn't care

He lets Cloudpaw wander off but follows him in secret, learns he's eating kittypet food, and gets mad. He talks to Sandstorm about this and the two try to talk to him about it, but he honestly does not care what they have to say.

Soon after Fireheart helps Willowpelt give birth and he thinks about Sandstorm

He tries to push these thoughts away, but he has a lot of feelings towards her

Fireheart is training Littlecloud in Littlecloud's dreams and also sneaks to the tunnels to help anyone that is struggling

Sandstorm catches him and scolds him while also helping. Sometimes she even brings Cinderpaw sometimes, though this is less out of willingness and more out of the fact no one's allowed to tell Cinderpaw what to do, not even her deputy mentor.

Sandstorm also quietly mentions that pretty soon there will need to be warrior ceremonies.

They return to learn that Cloudpaw has been missing for a while and Fireheart panics

He uses his power to try to hunt down Cloudpaw but is unable to find him. He wakes up in an even bigger panic and Sandstorm is confused how he increased panic after a sudden nap.

He tells Sandstorm about his powers and she's surprised but promises to keep it a secret. He informs her that Bluestar knows and that, if she asks, tell her what he's doing.

She guards him as he frantically uses his powers to try to find his nephew. He even uses a moment to inform Littlecloud, who can see him naturally now, and the small tabby promises to help keep an eye out.

During one of his wake ups, he learns from Sandstorm that Bluestar and Whitestorm are aware of what's going on - with Whitestorm to a lesser degree as both she and the leader talked vaguely about Fireheart's powers.

She also brings up that cats are starting to whisper about how much time she's spending helping him.

He's confused for a moment but becomes flustered when he remembered how he was thinking of Sandstorm while helping Willowpelt.

He asks if she's upset he became a medicine cat and she says no, but seems to be holding something back

He then asks if it's possible if the two can remain close and she's confused before he elaborates that he likes her a lot but there's not much that can be done. Even then he goes on and adds that he wants there to be a change because he cares about her a lot. She cares for him, too.

They begin secret dating with plans to make their dating not a secret in the future.

Worries and stress grow through the Clan and there's a small point in time that Fireheart has to stop searching for Cloudpaw in order to help the Clan.

Everyone's worried about Bluestar

While grabbing water for the queens and herbs for Yellowfang, he encounters Graystripe and realizes it had been a moment since he thought of his friend and he feels a little guilty

Graystripe talks about Silverstream's condition and how she's still alive but a lot weaker than before. Still, she's kicking and refuses to go down.

Fireheart is happy to hear that and gives Graystripe some herbs to take back to Mudfur to help Silverstream.

the plot with Mousefur and Thornpaw is about the same, though Fireheart comes to help with Runningwind. While the patrol chases away ShadowClan cats, Tigerclaw attacks Fireheart while he's alone and Fireheart fights back

Tigerclaw actively tries to murder Fireheart with the help of rogues, but Graystripe and a RiverClan patrol help and Tigerclaw is chided for trying to harm a medicine cat

The rogues are chased off, Runningwind is buried, Whitethroat is given a proper funeral, and he vents to Yellowfang about Tigerclaw.

After his wounds are taken care of, he casually brings Sandstorm out of camp to get help gathering herbs, except they just cuddle and talk and she expresses her worries to him

Ravenpaw stumbles across them and chooses not to ask questions, instead informing them of a kittypet with a ThunderClan scent

Fireheart is surprised, Sandstorm is cautious, and in the end they decide to go. Fireheart considers using his powers to make sure, but Sandstorm asks what other ThunderClan cat would willingly become a kittypet.

They have a small argument as he doesn't believe it was willing and she does apologize while they travel.

They Cloudpaw rescue goes the same, including the confrontation with the WindClan patrol. WindClan is still mad at ThunderClan, despite Fireheart's best attempts to be reasonable.

The fire also still happens in about the same way, but Fireheart comes out the full medicine cat of ThunderClan and has a Tigerstar child with him

While in RiverClan, Sandstorm is working hard to keep ThunderClan under control and safe.

Fireheart checks with Silverstream and Graystripe and meets Featherkit and Stormkit. Silverstream still isn't doing the best, but Mosspelt is shown to often help take care of the kits when Silverstream's having one of her weaker episodes.

Fireheart is worried about her but Graystripe is confident that she's going to be okay. Fireheart notices the shadow from before does seem weaker.

Fireheart, Sandstorm, and Graystripe go to check on ThunderClan's camp after the rain puts the fire out. Yellowfang is dying and she talks to them before passing away.

Fireheart is not, even more officially, the medicine cat of ThunderClan. Sandstorm expression worry but he comforts her, both as now the sole cat in charge of healing and as her mate.

ThunderClan returns to their territory, Bluestar declares war on StarClan, Sandstorm starts rebuilding ThunderClan's camp, and Fireheart and her worry over Bluestar only grows.

Bluestar refuses to go to the gather and a stressed out Sandstorm takes over, just getting more and more frustrated to the point Fireheart is hardly able to help.

As they talk about their future and what they're going to do, they get to the gathering to find Tigerclaw is now Tigerstar of ShadowClan.

Sandstorm is angry and calls Tigerstar out for the shit he did to ThunderClan. Tigerstar remarks that he's here to make ShadowClan strong and that ThunderClan is made of weak, know it all cowards.

This is a very unpeaceful gathering and it ends early with ThunderClan barely getting through their news without Tigerstar egging Sandstorm on and pissing her off He insults her covering for Bluestar and taunts ThunderClan about Fireheart until they leave.

Sandstorm informs everyone about Tigerstar and Bluestar is absolutely no help in the situation, confiding her worries into Fireheart and once more making another offer to make him deputy.

Fireheart misses Yellowfang and isn't sure what to do in this situation, still denying the role.

Time passes and ShadowClan is quiet. There is some worry over dogs, so Sandstorm sends a couple patrols at her former mentor's request to soothe any troubled minds.

Fireheart and Sandstorm learn from Graystripe that Crookedstar's unwell and Leopardfur is taking charge of RiverClan. He also brings up how Silverstream is at least healthy enough for short patrols.

That night, Fireheart has a dream and hears the words 'pack, pack, kill, kill'

Worried for Silverstream, he goes to check on her as a spirit only to be confronted by the shadow of a molly who seems to be weakened greatly.

She hisses and attacks him and he's surprised to find that he's actually hurt, causing him to realize that she's a ghost

She's angry that Silverstream is alive and tries to attack him again, seeing it as his fault - also vowing to "get rid of her little scraps with her".

Fireheart manages to chase her off

He returns and is overwhelmed with everything that just happened.

He hears the mentors talking about their apprentices and Sandstorm agrees that they should be made warriors. She's tired of waiting for Bluestar and admits she's tempted to do the warriors ceremony without the leader.

The other cats are in agreement.

He is drawn to the medicine cat den by the sound of Snowkit getting hurt. The whole confrontation with Snowkit happens and Fireheart decides to watch over the kit.

He goes for the medicine cat meeting and learns what all is going on in ShadowClan. That night he spends the time trying to figure things out by himself, but does talk to Yellowfang and Spottedleaf for a bit for their feelings on the matter.

While out gathering herbs, he comes across Sandstorm who came across Princess and stops Sandstorm from smacking his sister by revealing that she's his family

Sandstorm is understanding

They learn that dogs are missing and on their way home, they pass RiverClan and learn that Tigerstar is manipulating Leopardfur and that Graypool is missing

Graypool's death happens

After he returns he also learns Snowkit is deaf. Bluestar does not like this and Speckletail does not like Bluestar. Sandstorm currently also doesn't like Bluestar.

Speckletail and Brackenfur work together to try to train Snowkit with express permission from Sandstorm

Fireheart overhears talks about dogs and learns they found dog scent at Snakerocks. He also overhears Sandstorm and Bluestar's very vocal fight about this and starts heading to the nursery to get away from it when the hawk comes

He makes a made dash to Snowkit and gets hurt as he's almost grabbed by the hawk.

Bluestar is angry at Fireheart being reckless and shows this is more of a sign that StarClan wants to fight ThunderClan.

Fireheart is hurt and needs medical attention but is also ThunderClan's only medicine cat Still, he aids Sandstorm in calming cats down

He gets help from Sandstorm, Brackenfur, and Cinderpaw. They help patch him up, help Snowkit calm down, and he thanks them, joking that they'd be good medicine cats.

Sandstorm scuffs his ear for being an idiot

That gathering that Bluestar leads goes about the same and Sandstorm has to do damage control.

Fireheart learns from Sandstorm that Bluestar wants to start a war with WindClan. They agree on a plan to fake a sign for Bluestar and then just politely ask Tallstar to talk things out.

While they're getting ready, they spot Darkstripe with Goldenflower's kits outside of camp and Sandstorm goes off on him. She bans him from being near the kits and leads them back to camp. Fireheart goes off without her.

He gets Tallstar, makes a sign for Bluestar, and they go for a peaceful meeting.

The meeting is pleasant, but afterwards Bluestar goes off on Fireheart and Sandstorm and warns them that there will be no more treachery like that Sandstorm tries to argue, but Fireheart becomes actually worried for her safety and stops her

Bluestar goes missing for a bit, having gone to Highstones, and comes back with news about her time there and mentions the pack thing.

During one leaffall day, Swiftpaw comes running in from a patrol and mentions how RiverClan attacked a border patrol. Fireheart gathers his supplies and runs to go help.

Sandstorm is unable to stop him.

He comes in time to see Mistyfoot and Stonefur about to kill Bluestar and he stops them. They're confused and confrontational about a medicine cat being on the front lines.

Fireheart reveals that Bluestar's their mother. They don't believe him.

He is then almost thrown by Leopardstar, who is stopped by the warriors, warning her that he's a medicine cat. Leopardstar implies he's an idiot for being in the way of dangers and threatens him harm, only to be chided by her deputy, Stonefur.

RiverClan gets driven away

Fireheart helps cats with their injuries on the way back.

Bluestar holds a warriors ceremony. But only for Cloudpaw. Who is now Cloudtail.

The mentors are angry but she refuses to listen. Sandstorm goes to yell at her for a bit.

While this is going on, Swiftpaw storms out of camp with Cinderpaw, Brightpaw, and Brackenpaw behind him. Brackenpaw s trying to convince them to stop and Cinderpaw was on her brother's side until Swiftpaw made some good points.

Brackenpaw eventually falls back and goes to warn his Clanmates.

Fireheart watches in worry as Sandstorm, Whitestorm, Longtail, and Cloudtail go out to find them.

It takes a while, but they come back injured with three equally injured and scared apprentices. Fireheart tends to their wounds, stressing out greatly over Swiftpaw, who is the most injured. He's worried the apprentice won't make it through the night.

Sandstorm takes over the situation again and decides to hold proper warrior ceremonies, stating that this shouldn't have happened and expressing her disappointment in Bluestar quite loudly.

She makes the apprentices warriors; Cinderstorm, Brightsong, Brackenheart, Thornclaw, and Swiftstrike. She also goes on to make herself Tawnykit - now Tawnypaw's - mentor, has Cinderstorm mentor Bramblepaw, and has Brackenheart mentor Snowpaw - with help from Speckletail.

Bluestar is absolutely outraged and confronts her at the Clan meeting.

Sandstorm isn't having Bluestar's bs.

Bluestar than proceeds to demote Sandstorm and forces Fireheart to play the role of both deputy and medicine cat.

Everyone is confused and concerned, especially Fireheart, who has enough shit going on.

Fireheart spends his time taking care of the injured cats while trying to keep Bluestar calm and also doing what he can as deputy - while just doing what Whitestorm and Sandstorm tell him what to say and do as deputy.

He is overworked

He's still dragged off to the gathering, too, where he looks and feels terrible. He learns Graystripe's kits are apprentices and Tigerstar tries to get custody of his kits.

Bluestar's tempted but Fireheart manages to reason with her

Fireheart is taken away from camp for a bit by Cloudtail, Sandstorm, and Brightsong under the lie to their leader of a patrol. They meet Princess and she is worried.

The meeting with Princess happens and Fireheart passes out the moment he's in the medicine cat den.

He wakes up to Longtail, who expresses worry about dogs in the territory. He only agrees to go with him if he can take Sandstorm and Whitestorm. Longtail agrees and is surprisingly understanding.

Fireheart and Sandstorm take some time alone to be together and just breathe. They're mildly affectionate and she tells him to send patrols this way.

He promises she'll be deputy again

Brindleface death reveal goes about the same

Fireheart teams up with the Clan to make a plan to lead the dogs away from camp and eventually steps back as Sandstorm takes control and lets her be deputy.

He catches Darkstripe again with Goldenflower's kits and Whitestorm keeps a close eye on them.

Fireheart is on the sidelines, ready to help in case something goes bad.

Everything goes okay until the dogs scent him instead of their next target - thanks to Tigerclaw - and Fireheart is forced to flee from the dogs until Bluestar saves his life and gets him out of danger.

The dogs get chased over the edge and Bluestar dies.

The first thing he does is give Sandstorm back her proper place and she's ready to become leader of ThunderClan.

Bluestar is brought back to camp, the funeral, Mistyfoot and Stonefur go back to RiverClan, Sandstorm is announced as the new leader, and Fireheart joins Sandstorm on their trip to the Highstones.

While there they talk about talking to StarClan about their relationship and Sandstorm assures that she has a plan.

Fireheart is confident in her.

Sandstorm becomes Sandstar and gains lives from Lionheart, Redtail, Rosetail, Runningwind, Brindleface, Sunstar, Yellowfang, Spottedleaf, and Bluestar.

Immediately after, now a leader, she states loudly that Fireheart is her mate and she's going to get rid of the rule that they're not allowed to be together because of his role in the Clan

Fireheart is a lot less confident

Surprisingly, however, a lot of the cats are on Sandstar's side. Especially Yellowfang. They agree to talk this over and remind Sandstar that 'leader's word is law'.

After they wake up, Sandstar's very proud of how that turned out while Fireheart's still in shock. She asks him to be her mate, officially this time. He agrees.

They spend the night at Ravenpaw and Barley's and Sandstar and Fireheart have the same horrible dream. When they wake up they make quick goodbyes and hurry back to camp.

The first thing Sandstorm does when she arrives at camp is make some announcements; She names Longtail as her deputy, she announces that ThunderClan will allow medicine cats to take mates - and implies she and Fireheart are together - and tells ThunderClan that they need to prepare for whatever Tigerstar does next.

ThunderClan is a bit mixed about that second message, but they're pretty okay with everything else.

Fireheart expresses to Cinderstorm his concerns about her apprentoce and the warrior counters him, saying that Bramblepaw is a proud young warrior.

He apologizes.

Sorrelkit almost dies and Fireheart saves her. Darkstripe is cornered and forced to admit his crimes before being immediately exiled. Fernpaw's new mentor is Longtail and Longtail does not defend Darkstripe or his actions

There is worries about rogues in the territory and that night Fireheart wanders as a spirit and discovers BloodClan for the first time

He is shaken awake by his own shock

While visiting Graystripe, Fireheart learns more about what's going on in RiverClan and there's genuine worry about the safety of him and Silverstream. Silverstream has fully recovered and has been trying to reason with Leopardstar.

Fireheart brings this news to Sandstar and Sandstar's ready to start a fight with Tigerstar

Tigerstar fails to bring ThunderClan and WindClan into TigerClan and Sandstar goes off on him and Leopardstar She even calls Leopardstar a coward for allowing this tom anywhere near her Clan

Sandstar goes off on her own for a bit to clear her head and Fireheart takes this moment to check on the apprentices and see how they're doing

They could be doing better, especially Tawnypaw and Bramblepaw

Sandstar comes back and vaguely mentions a vision but doesn't go into details.

Ravenpaw had been on his way to pay his respects and check on his old Clanmates when he had stumbled across Silverstream who begged for help in RiverClan

Fireheart, Sandstar, Ravenpaw, and Silverstream go to RiverClan to see what's up

Mistyfoot, Stonefur, Featherpaw, and Stormpaw are in danger. Graystripe is also in danger, but is being held apart from them. Stonefur almost dies when Graystripe breaks out of his containment and helps Stonefur fight Darkstripe and then Blackfoot.

While this fight is going on, the guard for the other prisoners is distracted and the three other halfClan cats are rescued

Sandstar is about to have them go back for Graystripe and Stonefur when they realize that Graystripe is down and Stonefur is about to die next

Leopardstar is unable to watch this anymore and asks for the chance to talk to her deputy

Tigerstar is skeptical but allows this

Leopardstar proceeds to let Stonefur run away [reason being that she was still heavily bothered by Sandstar's words and the drawn out death was getting to her]

Stonefur is badly injured, but the ThunderClan rescue patrol manages to help him

Silverstream is distraught over the loss of her mate and the apprentices are shocked to hear their father is dead

They also learn, after returning, that Tawnypaw ran off while they were gone and no one knows where she is

Ravenpaw tries to help them find her, but parts ways when they can't, promising to keep an eye out for her.

While they're trying to help the RiverClan cats settle - Mudclaw arrives with the news that ShadowClan specifically has attacked WindClan

Fireheart stays behind, but sends Sandstar and her cats off with herbs for those wounded

After a moment, Longtail is sent back to grab Fireheart to help the wounded WindClan warriors. Fireheart follows and is horrified at the sight of what happened to WindClan.

Sandstar decides to confront Tigerstar once and for all next chance she gets and spends the night with Fireheart to soothe her mind

At the meeting, Tallstar and Sandstar both formally reject Tigerstar's offer once again, Tawnypaw's location in ShadowClan is revealed, Bramblepaw stays firmly right next to Cinderstorm - who is a good mentor to him, and BloodClan arrives.

Fireheart reveals to Sandstar he had seen these cats before when he had been looking for the rogues that had been a problem

Scourge, the leader of BloodClan, publicly and horrifically murders Tigerstar, is hostile to the Clans, and gives the Clan a short amount of time to decide if they're going to live or die

Barely able to comprehend what just happened, ThunderClan prepares for what's about to come and Sandstar begs Fireheart to not do anything rash and stupid

He tries his best to promise, but he himself knows that that's a big promise to need to keep

Ravenpaw and Barley join to help the fight

Fireheart and Cloudtail also go to warn Princess about BloodClan to make sure she's safe

Sandstar has another dream and brings Fireheart, Longtail, and the sheltered RiverClan cats along to try to be diplomatic with RiverClan and ShadowClan

They are brought to Fourtrees and the lot of them talk it out. Sandstar, though through some rather 'tough love' means, manages to spark inspiration in Leopardstar and Blackfoot. Leopardstar also formally apologizes to Mistyfoot, Silverstream, Stonefur, Featherpaw, and Stormpaw.

Most of them accept the apology and Leopardstar is understanding about it

She also takes a brief moment to thank Sandstar, but keeps it short and simple and follows it up with RiverClan agreeing to help

Blackfoot isn't here for that mushy stuff and just agrees

Also they learn why Tawnypaw left. She decides to stay in ShadowClan.

Speckletail and current queens are left in charge of camp, as well as Swiftstrike, who wants to tear apart any cat who gets past the Clans' defenses

They go and the battle against BloodClan begins

Whitestorm is still killed by Bone, the apprentices kill Bone, Longtail is almost killed but is saved by Fireheart [and then scolded by the deputy], and while Fireheart retreats to a safe distance, he is almost killed by Scourge

The small cat is about to absolutely obliterate him when Sandstar saves his life and throws Scourge off of him

He watches as Scourge turns and Sandstar loses her first life

Shocked, he runs at Scourge and fights the tom. Sandstar comes back to life as Fireheart kills the BloodClan leader.

BloodClan is chased from the forest

Some other deaths to note; Thornclaw is killed in the battle and Mistyfoot dies of infected wounds days after

Squirrelflight and Leafpool are probably born a sooner than they were in canon and Leaf gets mentored by her father.

Bramblepaw gets the warrior name Brambleflower, more in honor of his mother than ever thinking about his father. Brambleflower likes this. Tawnypaw still becomes Tawnypelt.

Snowpaw becomes Snowtail, Ashpaw becomes Ashfur, and Fernpaw becomes Ferncloud.

Sorrelkit, Rainkit, and Sootkit become Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur

The other Clans are skeptical about the fact that ThunderClan's leader is openly with their medicine cat, but there's only snide remarks at gatherings and no proper confrontation

Snowtail and Ferncloud get together and Ferncloud helps cats learn kitty sign language and helps translate things for her mate

Brightsong and Cloudtail still get together

Swiftstrike and Dustpelt get together and can butt heads on certain issues, but still love each other

Sorreltail and Brackenheart still get together

Cinderstorm gets with the kittypet, Cody, who joins ThunderClan and the two are a happy couple. Cody is a permaqueen and that's an okay and valid thing to do.

Bakugo and Y/N have this thing. They're so alright with one another and the two of them can truly simply appear at one another's places whenever to chill without calling prior and they'd presumably be allowed to hang. In spite of the fact that there are days when Y/N comes over similarly as he's going to go out and the other way around, they actually spend time with one another for the couple of moments before they go to any place they must be (despite the fact that they'd both extremely prefer to simply remain in one another's company throughout the day and night).

So when Bakugo heads toward her home, he's hoping to see her open the entryway in a couple of joggers and a shirt, possibly shorts rather than joggers. Be lo and behold, he's welcomed with her resembling a goddess and his mouth hangs open and his eyes as wide as possible as they trail down her figure. He’s never really observed her spruced up like how she is currently so he's sort of considering what did he actually do to merit this since she's so lovely and standing not too far off before him and he needs to simply up and get her and pull her in for a kiss yet he can't on the grounds that he doesn't accept that she really likes him back the way that he needs her to.

"Uh… "

"Bakugo?" Y/N chuckles a bit. "You okay?"

"What?" He squints, eating his eyes up to her face. Goddamn, that is a wonderful face. "Good, uh. Better believe it. I'm – " makes a sound as if to speak, carrying a hand to scratch the back of his neck, "– m'good. No doubt. M'good."

"Great," she grins, entertained.

"Where are you, uh. Where are you going?” He asks with a little smile, venturing into the house since she'd moved to one side to let him in.

"Not gonna lie, you came in at the wrong time." Y/N shoots him a sorry smile (and he swears he sees her do that thing that she does when she's nervous yet she can't in any way, shape or form be anxious, right? What might she be nervous about?).

"Hot date?" He jokes, and he hears the voices in his head repeatedly saying "don't say you do." Bakugo watches her shut the doorway and nod with her back facing him.

Bakugo's heart drops, "Huh? With who? When did he ask you? Do I know him?" He panics, not holding back.

Y/N finally faces him, taking small strides towards him but then the door swings open and Bakugo's eyes goes from the extremely beautiful young lady before him to none other than Kirishima standing smugly by the door. Bakugo's eyes broaden much more and he's certain he looks laughable at this moment. "Kirishima?" He glances back at Y/N. "You're going on a date with Kirishima?"

The red-haired boy wheezes and Bakugo has never detested him as much as he does now. "Why're you saying it like that, bro?" Kirishima asks with a faked hurt look all over. He inhales out a laugh, shaking his head, "nah, Im only kidding," and directs his attention to Y/N. "You ready?" He asks with a charming grin, removing a hand from his pocket and offering it to her.

"Gimme a sec. Let me get my bag first." Y/N grins back at Kirishima before leaving the two friends with one another – which wouldn't have ever been an issue since they're best mates yet the tension's too much at this moment.

"Y/N? Seriously, Kiri? Fuckin' Y/N?" Bakugo fumes the second she's too far to hear their conversation.

"What?" Kirishima shrugs. "She's hot and interesting and out of this world so is there any valid reason why I shouldn't?"

"You do know I like her, right? Ever heard of the bro code?"

Kirishima chuckles, "Sure do. However, I don't see you making a move on her. You must admit though that it's better that she's going out with me rather than some douche out there who most likely just wants to have sex with her."

"That's not anything near to being better since it's not – " He cuts himself off when he notices Y/N approaching them.

Kirishima grins once again at her. "You look so pretty," he praises, grasping her hand once more. "I'll see you later, Bakugo." Y/N simply waves at Bakugo.

"Wait!" Bakugo calls out, wrapping his fingers on her wrist gently and basically pulls her back like she's a rope and he's having a back-and-forth with Kirishima, but he's by and large far more delicate because of the fact that this is Y/N. He can't actually hurt her. "Can I talk to you for a sec?" He finally, asks sheepishly, swallowing hard.

"Sure," Kirishima says as a smile is plastered on his face yet it goes unnoticed by Bakugo and is excessively clear to Y/N.

Bakugo just pulls her aside, heading off to the kitchen so Kirishima won't have the option to listen in. "So… "

"What's up?"

Bakugo avoids her eyes, "Kirishima, huh?"

She shrugs, "Why not, you know? He's cool and stuff," she murmurs.

"Do you, um. Do you like him?"

"Uh," Y/N's mouth is suddenly dry as hell, "Ofcourse?" (It's intended to come out as a statement yet it's come out as a question and Bakugo starts to think he's hearing things)

"D-don't go on a date with him," Bakugo says out of nowhere, looking straight at her. She blinks, brows furrowing slightly, taken aback at how he’d gone from this stuttering mess to confidently blurting out that she shouldn’t go out on a date with his bestfriend. “I know what Kiri’s like, okay? He’s a great guy, really. Awesome friend. Fun to be with. But, like. He won’t treat you properly. He’s a dick. He drinks too much, parties too much. He’s not good enough for you."

Y/N’s eyes widen then. Then he's sighing, shaking his head. “No, no,” he mumbles. “Those are lies. He’s probably going to be the best damn boyfriend ever but, like. I, um. I don’t. Um.”

"Spit it out,” she smiles, bringing a hand to his upper arm gently.

“I don’t want you to date him,” he mumbles eventually, cheeks filling with colour as he does so. “I want you to date me. Not him. Not my bestfriend. I want you. And, like, Kiri knows I like you, so I don’t know why he’s doing this to me. Just, like. You belong with me, you know? Not him. So, um. Yeah. Guess I made things weird. Sorry,” he mumbles again, about to make a move to get out of the kitchen and leave the house with his head down and preferably staying in bed for the rest of forever afterwards.

"You’re serious?” She asks from behind him, quietly.

He turns, though he’s still staring at the ground, “Hmm?”

“You’re not… taking the piss? Like, just saying that you like me because I’m going on a date with Kiri?”

He snaps his head up then, brows furrowed tightly together, “Why would I do that?” He asks, and Y/N shrugs in response. He steps closer towards her, “I like you, a lot. I have liked you for a long ass time but, like, I never thought I’d have a chance, and I guess I was right in some sense – since, you know, you’re going out with Kirishima and stuff. But, um. Yeah. I do. I really like you.”

“My work here is done,” Kirishima’s voice chimes in then and they both turn to look at him with that smug smirk on his face. He salutes them, then he’s walking out the front door without another word.

“What…?” He trails off.

“He and Kaminari, they, uh,” Y/N starts. “They wanted to make you jealous, or something. Because they know I, um, like you, and they said you liked me back but, like, I didn’t believe them? Because, you know. You’re you, and I’m me, and I couldn’t comprehend you ever liking me so they came up with this dumb plan and really, I was alright with trying to move on, but then they insisted that you liked me and that by making you think I was dating someone else then you’d, you know, – ” she gestures to him, then. “– do that. So, like, um, sorry for making you think that I was going on a date with Kiri and uh – ”

Y/N’s cut off then. Not because he's angry that they’d kind of manipulated him (although he did look a little frustrated), it’s because Y/N blinked and then he's right there and he’s kissing her. And well. She’s kissing him back as hard as he’s kissing her with her arms wrapped around his body while either of his hands are cupping her face and his thumb’s stroking small circles on the skin of her cheeks.

He pulls back then, a magnificent grin lighting up his handsome face and his eyes twinkling brighter than she’s ever seen them before. “You have no idea,– ” he leans in to kiss her again, “– how long I’ve wanted to do that.”

"Trust me,– ” she mumbles back, kissing him quickly once more. “– I do.”

"So,” he finally pulls back properly, resting his forehead unto hers and intertwining their fingers together at the sides of their bodies. “You look stunning, by the way. And, like, it’d be a waste to just not make full use of you looking so goddamn beautiful, you know?”

Y/N smiles, raising an eyebrow, “Katsuki, are you asking me out on a date?”

He shakes his head, “I'm telling, love,” he grins cheekily. “But, like. Let’s just, you know. Kiss a little first. I’ve got months to make up for.”

We're Retiring (For Now)

Hi everyone, this is admin Boopenguin here. It has come with both a heavy heart that me and moderator Protoman are retiring from Penguin News Network. We started this blog back in 2017 with the hopes of covering every update Club Penguin Rewritten would release, just like the good old days of Blogspot and Wikipress with the original Club Penguin. The goal was the bring back that nostalgia of reading up insider blogs on catalog secrets and the latest party posts. For the past year though, it's been a battle to find the motivation to even make a post, but we've keep doing it for you guys. However, we just can't keep going with it anymore. Please read this all so you guys can understand.

Protoman and I live on separate parts of the globe (US and the other side of Canada), while Club Penguin Rewritten is run and operated in the United Kingdom. That means when we're both asleep, they tend to update the game (and that's if they update the game when they promise, it seems to be whenever they feel like it.) It has become a chore to cover the game, especially when in recent years we've become so busy with other, more important priorities in life. After awhile, we've felt like we've failed to deliver on our promise to cover any content in the game ASAP, that's kinda hard when we're both asleep.

We've tended to try and keep our personal opinions off this blog for professionalism. However, this is where that ends. Protoman and I are genuinely irritated and frustrated with Club Penguin Rewritten, both the game itself and its development team. There's a lot for us to go over, so I'll cover it in strides. Firstly, the distribution of items. Back when Club Penguin Rewritten first started adding custom items to the game, or bringing forth items for special events, they never directly said that any item would be returning - but it was heavily implied that they were tied to special events. i.e. the Eclipse Glasses were given out to celebrate the 2018 Eclipse that was going on in real life. Or the Red Hard Hat, which was given out originally in 2018 for those who participated in the Club Penguin Rewritten Improvement Project. Both of these items came back with no real rhyme or reason. Especially the Red Hard Hat, which they distributed as a code this year and it is an insult to those who helped build on and improve the game. If you are at all familiar with my penguin's avatar, I've tried to use items that don't appear in the game. When you're running a blog, you need an identifiable appearance. That can't be achieved when the Rewritten team makes everything you wear accessible to the public like free candy. Nothing is rare, and if they say it won't ever appear in the game again, they'll make sure it does appear again. June catalog alone brought back the Side Swept and Sunset Canvas Boots. EDIT: this was announced right after I posted, further proving my point.

Secondly, the development team needs to do better and deliver on their promises. Even before the HTML5 conversion, the Rewritten team has seldom ever delivered on their promises of releasing content on the dates they would list. For example, imagine they announced a Medieval Party starting on March 16th, but it's March 20th now and there's still no party. It's even worse now with them working on converting the game to HTML5. You may say "Cut them a break, they're a small team of people!" in most circumstances that'd be fair, but ever since Protoman and I have been playing this game, they almost ever meet deadlines on anything. Look at the situation right now: Last month they released a Penguin Style catalog with Prehistoric Party-themed items, along with the promise that a Prehistoric Party would be releasing in June. We are 10 days away from July, there's no Prehistoric Party, and there's already a June catalog with Music Jam-themed items and behind-the-scenes posts for Music Jam 2021. They need to stop working on so many things and instead actually deliver what they promise. It's ridiculous and unprofessional. Something as simple as hiring more people could circumvent these problems from even happening, but it seems as though every time they hire someone new - that person gets outed as a sexual predator or doxxes the entire password database. (did I say that out loud?)

The final nail in the coffin for our departure is the inclusion of the Rockhopper's Rare Treasures, the daily login system with ads. Between this and the three core issues I addressed, we cannot continue operating this blog until they themselves can figure out what they're doing with this game. Club Penguin Rewritten is not the same anymore, and it hasn't been for the past year and a half or maybe even longer. It is a chore to cover, and it interferes with our daily lives. We will still play this game, but don't expect us to cover the game anymore.

where. is the. demo?

if it was to come out now, today, most of the ending will just be a black screen and a textbox (like the screenshot above).

so what's left???

1. i need to finish all the illustrations & assets for the end of the demo, and some assets need to be animated too (this is a visual novel/motion comic after all!). this is the bulk of the work, if you don't count me spending days troubleshooting.

2. even though the beginning and middle of the demo is completed, i need to retouch some artwork...for example, clyde doesn't wear a tie anymore so i need to go back and remove it. it's just a tie, so it doesn't take too long to fix.

3. i need to redo the main menu screen. it doesn't fit the ~*aesthetic*~ i'm going for anymore + kettle's name is...officially fennel now! so. yeah. obviously it needs to be changed!

4. bug testing and making sure the game functions properly.

5. i also need to redo the sprites for clyde, diya, and wren.

and that's it!

i do plan on sharing another snippet of the game, like i did back in january. this is not the demo. the actual demo will be out sometime in october. more on that later, in another post...

now...what about the full game...?????

there is still a lot of work to be done! as you can prolly guess, this mostly includes: making even more assets and illustrations. there are also some minigames sprinkled throughout introdemo and that means i also need to seriously sit down and read books and watch vids on python.

my brain has a hard time understanding anything that's 'technical' (so...coding, math, 3d modelling...physics...you name it). thankfully, renpy is user friendly but a lot of stuff does go over my head! not putting myself down or anything, it's just something i need to spend more time on (and there's a lot of stuff i want to do in this game).

so whenever i run across a bug i can't figure out, sometimes it will take me a few days to pick everything apart and troubleshoot. it's fun, but it can be frustrating at times because i can't rely on forums or guides for every issue i run across.

couple examples:

the nameplates! last month, i finally fixed the issue with longer names not fitting the nameplates. it took a while, but it's fixed! the solution to this problem was fixing how the text was formatted inside the namebox and also the width of the namebox.

(clyde's assistant, diya, is now...clyde's segment producer! good for her)

i also really, really, really wanted a three card monte minigame. but i wanted the card shuffling to feel random. i don't want to explain too much because it would spoil how it work (i can talk more about it once the demo officially comes out) but i had to go with a more 'complex' solution because i didn't understand the more 'simple' solution. if any of that makes sense.

you can play introdemo w/o ever running into the tcm minigame so it's not my main priority right now. but thankfully, it works fine, but it's something that i will have to revisit later.

other minigames that will be introdemo includes: pop quizzes, point n click and hidden objects, decrypting secret messages, pulling off a successful interview, critiquing a romance novel and...more? maybe?

aaaand that's about it! next time i write up another blog post, it'll feature some gameplay footage (like minigames, choices, motion comic scenes, etc), just wanted to tell you guys where i'm at rn since it's been a while.

i had some things happen in my personal life at the beginning of the year which caused me to stop working on this game. i'm ready to work on this game again, and i'll try to get the demo out before the end of this year, even if that means uploading it on 12/31/21 at 11:59:59 PM EST.
