have been meaning to cry about THIS Thame so much. like the irony of being asked to "feel it" when at the same time he is demanded to stop feeling and live like an immobile object. there is something so cruel in being [directed] to think about someone who makes you bring out those feelings just whenever it's asked of you and to suppress it when it's unwanted...
Because he's in so much pain but he had to repress it all. If he lets himself feel it, he can't work but if he doesn't let himself feel it he can't work either because you cannot seperate art from feelings. But that's what capitalism demands. It demands you seperate yourself from the world and exist as a solitary self-centred creature while also demanding you perform the same way you would if you had it all. basically a level of unrealistic emotional masterpiece that one can only achieve through community.
Thame who had repressed so hard, being forced, for the sake of the same career that took away his love, to think about his love for it. not to mention that he also loves his job. but human beings are multifaceted. he can't Only love his job. he loves his friends his (ex) boyfriend and he as a human needs to be allowed all of this.

and williams acting!!! you can see the pain, the visible effort in trying to be stabbed in the same wound he has been trying so hard to forget. he has been isolated from everyone so he probably lives without any way of outlet at all. because he's like that, because he knows best how to adapt, how to keep his expression to himself unless it's being brought out of him. the company forced him into a shell once and they are doing it a second time.
#i love this show so so much#i have thing for media that gives commentaries on specifically how capitalism chokes life out of people#there is a discussion of a level of grooming companies like this commit on their artists#which affects their behaviour even if we think they are adults with their own ability to think and act#but people like thame have been under oppressive authority & socialised through them... early enough for it to affect their lives as adults#but that's a conversation i dont know how to have although as a k-pop fan I've thought of it so many times#thame po#thamepo heart that skips a beat#williamest

Hi Zimt!
So. You know how Near went to public school for a bit?
Do you have any headcanons on that?
I often imagined him in that scenario and the result honestly is pure chaos.
First of all, I think he kept tabs on everyone on a notebook, from the teachers to his classmates, and at some point someone finds his notes and he gets in real trouble because he was really straightforward about it. When asked why he was doing it he answered that it was a writing exercise, but actually he was just practicing reading people. Which lead to him writing down lots of awkward hypothesis on people’s behaviour that ended up offending them. Also he guessed a lot of the most embarrassing stuff about the school staff, like secret shenanigans and who hid a secret stash of cigarettes where and things like that.
He definitely had a fight with a teacher because he would be doing complicated stuff without following the instructions, like:
N: But Miss, the answer to 47x8 really is 376
Teacher: Nate, there is no way you could guess that out of thin air, please (very frustrated) just do the operation like I explained you.
(No idea if in your AU he did enough elementary school for his class to do multiplications, but still)
You could draw a parallel with Mello on that one, or with Light even.
In a normal classroom they probably would have been able to respectively show up the teacher about the stupidity of the question and show off to the teacher about how easily he handles it. Near however would not even be able at that time to understand why it is being asked in the first place, because he struggles to fully grasp the fact that the other children are not at his level. It all seems so easy to him.
Which lead young Nate to pick the lock of his teacher’s desk drawer to read his classmates’s child-level answers to tests and understand what they were doing right that he was apparently doing wrong.
He got in trouble for that too.
He said that he was doing research.
His teachers were very frustrated with his attitude. It’s the nineties, so they don’t really know or care on how to deal with his autism.
Also, do you think he got bullied?
Since children can really be jerks probably yes, and with that sassy attitude he probably spent his share of hours inside a locker.
He definitely corrected all the insults directed to him, (often mistaking insults for simple errors) like:
“No Jason, I am not retarded, I am autistic, asperger autistic, which means that it’s not that evident, but it doesn’t affect my cognitive abilities in any way-“
“Don’t be ridiculous Charles, of course I am not a girl, why would you make such an assumption? We go to the same bathroom.”
Etc.
Also, this one might be a bit exaggerated, but I imagine him being so bored of his own homework that he corrupted one of the older kids to let him do theirs, and when people started to get suspicious and they wanted to back out Nate threatened to let everyone know their secret plus other stuff he found out about his accomplice to use as blackmail for this specific scenario.
The kid reached out to an adult as he was very scared of Near.
Near didn’t mean to scare them, he was just testing if something he saw on TV actually worked in real people.
Poor kid probably had to change a lot of schools.
What do you think?
I can't muster up the energy to draw something for this but I don't want this to be rotting in my ask box any longer cause I think it's absolutely lovely <3 It's so well thought through and lively, I can see all of that happening!
Must be so frustrating for a nighly gifted kid to be constantly corrected and critisised despite knowing they're in the right. I wonder if it made Near feel like he's dumb at some point.
#ask#thank you so much for this anon#keeping it in my notes#will most likely come back to this one day

Okay, this is another internet behavior discussion that I feel people need to acknowledge more. That is, being held accountable for your actions is not a tell all be all for everyone, and there is grace needed for certain situations.
Ex 1. Children - People on the internet keep trying to hold children to the same type of accountability as adults and that is not right at all. This is specifically targeted at kids around the age of 13 (like your post) who are starting to make their own official decisions but with no knowledge or experience behind them.... Cause they don't have that because they are children. Are there actions that people at that age should be held accountable for? Yes, absolutely, but almost nothing done at that age should lead to them being canceled or having their life permanently affected.
Ex 2 - Folks from Rural communities with little access outside their bubble - I am from Texas, I have met plenty of folks who genuinely mean well but are very out of touch. Known some who grew up with the words 'colored' and 'tranny' being the NICE terms for folks. To them, they are being polite, just wrong about it. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be corrected or avoided if they make no effort or fight against the change but it's also a situation that needs some grace.
Ex 3 - Immigrants - This just needs 2 sentences: If they aren't from here naturally, they aren't going to get everything. Correct them and move on.
I feel like people now treat holding people accountable and canceling them as the new form of teaching them when that is not the case. Yes, we live in a world of information where people can learn everything and anything, but it doesn't work like that. People don't know what they don't know and won't know to look into something if they don't know they are supposed to. Also, even the internet rarely ever ventures outside a person's bubble. Google searches even operate as a type of for you page now. It is what it is.
People need the ability to learn. That will not always be the case cause some folks do know better and will use anything from weaponized incompetence to gaslighting to try and make themselves look better, but that doesn't mean every situation is like that or needs to be treated like that. We have the ability to discuss things for a reason.
One of the big boos of cancel culture is that it simultaneously doesn’t allow anyone to grow or learn from their actions but also doesn’t even hold them accountable. Just goes ‘you’re bad :(‘ and that’s the extent
Someone as an adult, who positions themselves left-leaning, can have a history of poor behaviour and multiple Accusations of a serious nature, and yet they’ll be cancelled for 3 minutes and then everyone is back to supporting them and aggressively attacking anyone who thinks they should still be held accountable.
someone who grew up in a particular community or culture, or is just still young said something uninformed/bigoted/etc but has since proven that it wasn’t their intention to harm and they’re doing a lot to educate themselves and do better. And if you utter their name, you get killed.
And there are occasions of someonesaying something uninformed/bigoted/etc due to their upbringing and still being an asshat despite being given every opportunity to educate themselves and grow. In which case, yeah, maybe they deserve to have their career confiscated until they do better. But these are the people that fans excuse because ‘it’s how they were raised!’

THINGS THAT ARE SHAKEN!
THINGS THAT ARE SHAKEN
Hebrews 12:26-28
Everyone craves security: the millionaires, the most sought-after celebrities, the manual labourers, the obscure and unknown, the unappreciated, underpaid civil servant, the stay-at-home mother, and the innocent child looking up to adults. All want, need, and crave security. Yet, the reality of our present world is one of extreme instability. From finances to health, and even a country’s ability to survive, nothing is guaranteed.
Everything in life, on this side of heaven, is subject to change and can be shaken by circumstances, conditions of man, unstable standards, and even the elements of nature.
We all woke up on the 24th of February to the news of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with devastating effects. Lives, properties, and communities were destroyed by man’s inhumanity to man, reminding us again of the instability of life as we saw on September 11, 2001 (what we now call 9/11), a date many will forever remember as a dark day when the face of evil peered through the clouds and was seen by millions all over the world.
Consider the 7th of October 2023 attack on Israel by Palestine. A war that seems to slowly creep into other nations with factions at war over supporting one or the other. Man’s inhumanity to man takes new forms daily, with people seeming to think of new dastardly ways to shake society and destabilize many, both intentionally and deliberately.
There’s intentional shaking of the financial industries, workforces, healthcare, and mortality rate, to satisfy the power play and hunger of the unscrupulous.
Dubai, a man-made paradise that had never experienced rain enough to see as threatening, was overturned by a torrential downpour that brought the nation to its knees.
Shaken! Everything and anything in this world are subject to the authority and power of God, and therefore, can be shaken as He declares in our text.
The earth, it seems, is insatiable, always choking on the blood of the innocent, whether in Ukraine, in Israel, on the streets, or in homes. The only way for peace is to turn to the Prince of Peace as stated in Isaiah 9:6. The peace that will overturn the inhumanity that knows no tribe, colour, race, or language according to Galatians 3:28. Again, the people of every nation united in grief and mourning, calling on the God of all nations to intervene in yet another shaking in the world.
Wherever there is a shaking, we are all affected in one way or another, so we must all be united in prayer against the inhumanity of man.
The things that can’t be shaken are the frailty of life, the uncertainty of life, the certainty of death, and the absolute need for God. God doesn’t want us to be self-sufficient in His own eyes but to recognise that every natural thing is temporal, as stated in 2 Corinthians 4:18.
But we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
Malachi 2:6 says, “Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens.” When Moses was given the law on Mount Sinai, there was an earthquake that shook the whole mountain as described in Exodus 19:18. But now, God says He will shake everything, including the heavens and the cosmos.
Life is shallow and full of holes, holes that can only be plugged by God’s grace, love, and redemption.
No matter what weapons, power, or manipulation man employs, he can only shake a little portion of a place. The word and kingdom of our God cannot be shaken, not by man or demon.
The word of God can shake away traits, characters, attitudes, and behaviours that do not glorify Him. The Lord keeps beckoning us to come closer from out of the cold, cruel world to the warm embrace of love and security.
Man’s only hope is Jesus. Where is your security? If not in Christ Jesus, now is a good time to turn your life over to Him because He alone offers a kingdom which cannot be shaken.
PRAYER: God of the nations, help us to bind together and hold up our nations, so the enemy doesn’t shake away those meant for you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom

"Boys will be boys" logic is interesting since WWX himself basically uses that exact excuse in the book when he tells LWJ not to take JC's homophobic rant/assault seriously in the ancestral hall bc that's just how JC is, as if WWX himself wasn't furious when JC targeted LWJ in that scene. A lot of WWX's famed unreliable narration is rationalizing the crazy shit JC does but sometimes people tend to take it at face value.
Yes, exactly! That is such a huge thing. WWX spends so much time telling himself (and through himself the audience) that oh, it can’t be helped when JC mistreats him, JC is just like that, it’s totally fine, he doesn’t mind, and we see how that viewpoint was encouraged and strengthened by the people around him, especially JYL (sorry Shijie but it’s true). Hell, you could argue that this particular aspect of his character was entirely her doing, given YZY just thinks he should be subordinate to JC in all things and JFM mostly ignores JC’s behaviour; it’s just JYL going for the “oh boys will be boys, you’re strong and always smiling, you can take it” angle.
...Actually, let’s go into that a bit more because it very much gets buried under the “best sister” shit; I am prepared to argue that JYL consistently taking JC’s side did serious damage to WWX. Like, she was the only Jiang who consistently showed him affection and support and he convinced himself that it was unconditional! But the “unconditional” aspect was an illusion entirely based on his ability to consistently and convincingly pretend that JC wasn’t hurting him. WWX isn’t stupid, I don’t doubt for a second that he knew JYL would take JC’s side if it came down to it. She always takes JC’s side from day one. Literally; she hears WWX say he’ll take the blame for JC chasing him out of Lotus Pier and getting WWX’s leg broken while all JC did was come out looking for WWX personally (instead of doing the smart and more helpful thing and getting adults to help) because he was scared he’d get in trouble and he got a little scrape because he was running through the woods like an idiot because, again, he was too scared of getting in trouble to GET ACTUAL HELP THAT WASN’T A CHILD and she’s like “Yeah, that sounds reasonable and fair and not like a really, really bad precedent to set with a kid whose safety relies on my family liking him”. ...There’s also an aspect of “Sure, it can’t hurt to let the kid my mother very clearly hates take responsibility for something that he could be punished for by someone with a motive to take everything possible as a wrongdoing on WWX’s part”, but to be fair at this point she doesn’t know YZY will whip WWX for literally anything she can even slightly suggest is any sort of wrongdoing on WWX’s part. And let’s not pretend WWX wasn’t punished for JC getting hurt; come on, it’s YZY, she punishes him for sunbathing.
This is a running thing going forward in their dynamic, too! JC does something horrible, JYL immediately starts in on the “Oh, boys will be boys, A-Cheng might get upset if you call him out on his shit” shtick if WWX shows the slightest trace of dissatisfaction with being treated like garbage, WWX smiles and forgives JC for whatever he did without question, there’s a period of calm, the cycle repeats. JYL very much teaches WWX that he cannot EVER show any unhappiness with JC’s threats and insults. If he ever shows so much as a shred of anger or sadness or generally being upset at the way JC mistreats him JYL takes JC’s side. At most she’ll tell JC that maybe he should back off a little while basically telling WWX to grin and bear it because JC might be slightly upset if anyone ever calls him out on being horrible to literally everyone. And don’t even get me started on the whole “Oh you’re always smiling” bullshit, talk about teaching a mistreated orphan that he has literally no right to look sad about anything ever. Like, let me put it this way: WWX doesn’t even feel he can go to JYL about JC TRYING TO KILL HIM. Thats a lot? It’s a lot? And it never really gets discussed in any way? WWX doesn’t feel like he can tell his supposed sister who supposedly loves him unconditionally that her brother tried to murder him like three times and when the third time comes up JYL takes JC’s side because JC’s arm got broken in the process of the staged fight where JC stabbed WWX in the gut and that’s fine and healthy apparently. Stan WQ, the actual best sister (god I love WQ).
Anyway, now that I’m done enraging the fandom with my tangent about how much JYL sucks as a sister to WWX... Yeah, WWX insists that JC’s attitude can’t be helped because JC’s just like that even when he very clearly doesn’t buy that? He’s obviously pissed when JC goes after LWJ to the point of genuinely going after JC for it... but when they get away from JC he goes into the “Oh, he can’t help it, don’t get mad at him”. And in this particular case part of it is him panicking because JC’s homophobic ranting (and LWJ’s clear anger at it) left him questioning his and LWJ’s feelings and the mutuality thereof, but it also... really does throw every other time he insists JC’s behaviour is fine into question. Like, we know he’s not buying his own line in this scene! He was furious at JC! He’s still furious and upset! But he feels the need to cover for JC. Even after he’s realized that JC’s behaviour wasn’t okay, he still feels like he has to protect him from anyone else getting angry at him. WWX knows JC’s behaviour isn’t okay and that it’s not fair that JC treats him the way he does and I’d argue (especially at this point in the story) that he deserves better than JC’s treatment... but he still insists that JC is just like that and it’s fine.
That throws every single time WWX smiles through JC’s mistreatment into question, I’d say; we know he’ll react this way even when he knows that JC’s behaviour isn’t okay, so who’s to say he ever isn’t aware that JC’s behaviour isn’t okay? In CQL XZ does an excellent job of showing that at least in that continuity he is extremely done with JC’s shit even from when they’re fifteen; the novel is as far as I remember a little less clear, but it’s still pretty obvious that he’s not enjoying the way JC treats him. He knows that the way JC treats him is hurtful and upsetting and sometimes even frightening (think of the times JC threatens him with dogs and he’s clearly scared, which is a whole other thing because either he’s so scared of dogs that even the threat terrifies him or he has zero doubt that JC for sure would set dogs on him, which is a big thing either way and also I’m still not over how CQL JYL laughs when JC threatens WWX with dogs even though WWX is clearly scared and she totally would’ve laughed if that happened in the novel too but showing it so blatantly and then never actually getting into how messed up it is is just unnecessary), but he feels like he has to smile through it and cover for JC, just like when they were nine.
Anyway yeah, for a fandom so obsessed with WWX being an unreliable narrator the MDZS/CQL fandom sure does miss a lot of times where WWX is actually being unreliable, huh.
#mdzs#grapehate#wei wuxian#lotus sister#...got a bit off-track there whoops#anyway the jiangs ALL suck and FUCK jyl for enabling jc's horrible behaviour#anon#asks

Since the first thing that strikes me about re8, story-wise, is that it seems to be all over the place? Again, I’ve no idea how it ties to previous games but it feels like this parental/mother-child theme is just hanging there with no resolution at all? I mean yes, Ethan saved his daughter, presumably breaking some sort of abuse cycle, yay, congrats, but what about his wife/gf? Isn’t she supposed to be like the main protagonist of the story of a mother bereaved to the point of tyrannical madness
Or rather, this specific story is not the right choice for his character since there’s SO many ethical and philosophical issues and questions implied but never properly explored because of Ethan’s ‘fuck you, idc’ attitude (which is completely understandable in those circumstances but adds virtually nothing to the plot and arguably even ruins it a bit). Heisenberg could’ve been an excellent ally with fascinating grey morality (provided the writers wouldn’t push him to the point of absolute insanity and let freedom, not power-hunger be his main goal and motivation for rebellion). And again, aren’t the lords supposed to represent child development stages? In which case Ethan what? Kills the possibility of some evil version of Rose? Or his own chance to experience fatherhood throughout all of those stages? Either way, it seems a bit… weird to have a Parent destroy multiple people whose main relevance to the plot is that they’re children of an abusive antagonist in a storyline so extremely focused on parent/kid relationships.
I feel like the main theme of re8 is not just parenthood/motherhood, but the relationship itself of the parent to the child. There's a lot of mentions to "children being used". Miranda kidnapping people, experimenting on them and mutating them and then treating them like they're her kids; Miranda kidnapping and practically killing Rose; Dimitrescu making daughters out of reanimated corpses she experimented on; Heisenberg wanting to use Rose's powers, etc etc.
And it's important that Miranda is at the center of this. There's something very interesting she says to Ethan in her boss fight:
"Why do you interfere? Surely you have no need of Rose now, so close to death?"
And that's where her mistake was. Ethan wasn't doing all that because he needed Rose herself. He was doing it to save her, fully aware that he wasn't going to be a part of her life cause he knew he was dying. Miranda was way too dependent on her love for Eva - and like, I honestly get it that losing your child can devastate you (if anything my fear of that is one of the reasons I don't want to have kids) - so much that her life literally revolved around her child. Once Eva died, Miranda wanted to die. Once she found the Megamycete and discovered she maybe had a chance to bring Eva back, she dedicated her entire life and ruined multiple others to do just that. Her one and biggest need was to get Eva back. It wasn't a simple want or wish. It was a need. She'd get her child back, damn everyone else - including other people's children.
Miranda had no-one to blame directly; Eva had died from the influenza, it wasn't like she had any chance to change things. Ethan's case was different; he had people to blame, particularly, the one who kidnapped Rose and dismembered her, and her lackeys who kept said parts and fought him for trying to take them back.
So on one end, you have a parent who lost her child due to a tragedy, and ended up destroying other - innocent - lives in order to get her back. On the other, you have a parent who lost his child due to a crime, and ended up going after the criminals responsible in order to get the child back. Like, it wasn't even revenge, and it wasn't that he "needed" Rose in his life. He simply wanted to save her and ensure she'll be alright.
I fully agree it could have been Mia as the protagonist in re8, and that it was a wasted opportunity to simply fridge her and have her in the sidelines angsting over her husband. But whether it was Mia or Ethan as the protagonist, I feel like the theme that I explained above does offer a resolution, showing the opposites of Miranda and Ethan, and ending Miranda's tyrrany of her "need" to have her child back through Ethan's determination to ensure his child's safety and happiness - even if he doesn't get to be a part of any of that later on. Miranda showed obsession; Ethan showed dedication.
And this is how I see the abuse cycle breaking and the resolution is reached; an obsessed parent hurt a good parent's child to bring their own child back - the good parent's dedication stopped the former, allowing the former's tyrrany to end and their child to grow up safe.
Seeing as this is a horror game, I don't tend to focus on the morality issues (if I'm interpreting your second message correctly). Like, the developers are making a grant effort to put us in Ethan's shoes, first-person POV, plain character protagonist and all; our child got kidnapped and practically murdered, and we have the chance to bring her back. We'll absolutely raise hell to the people who are responsible for it and we will get our child back, fuck any moral dilemmas we might have. When someone is threatening your life, you have the ability to kill them to defend yourself. In the case of a caring parent, that ability may multiply by a lot when the threat is towards their child. And I feel that this is what the game explored in the end. Though the whole survival issue is taxing on Ethan, he doesn't give a damn about who he has to kill if it means saving his daughter - but again, it's only the responsible parties. We see how watching all the people at Luisa's house die affected him, and even before Elena died, he wanted to ensure her safety before he went searching for Rose; he is sympathetic and morally rational, but also capable of cold-blooded murder if someone is threatening his child. To a lesser extent, we saw that in re7 too. With his life on the line, he killed Jack (multiple times) and Marguerite, and at the end he recognized how they were actually victims of Eveline. But they were still actively trying to murder him so he wasn't given the chance to help them. With Zoe, he promised to send help, and he did, even wanting to talk to her once she'd been rescued by her uncle and Chris. The same applies to re8, but as I said, it's multiplied since it's his daughter who's in danger, and the end of re8 proves he cares for her safety more than his own.
Now, all that said, I think it's important to note how it's stil a Resident Evil game. I haven't actually played or watched any playthroughs of other games, but the basic concept in these games, from what I understand, is that the player shoots zombies; ex-human beings who have lost any human mentality and will just come for your throat if you don't kill them first. They're not humans anymore, they can't be reasoned or sympathized with. It's not really an issue of morality, ethics or philosophy. Your life, and the life of your child in the case of re8, are in danger. You don't give a shit. You just start shooting and hope for the best. Again, I don't know if the morality issue is explored in other RE games, but to be honest... Resident Evil doesn't sound like the kind of franchise that's thematically into going super deep into the morality of shooting zombies to save your life.
I have to admit I haven't thought of the Lords being representative of child development stages. I think they could be put as Moreau being a toddler, fully dependent on their parent - funnily enough, the Greek word for baby is "moro", pronounced almost exactly the way "Moreau" is pronounced in the game - Donna as a child, Heisenberg as a (rebellious?) teenager, and Dimitrescu as a late teen/young adult (if anything, Dimitrescu seems to behave like the eldest child of the bunch). But I'm not sure the connection that has to Ethan as a father, if anything because the bosses are fought in complete random order of age, if my analysis is correct. Like, I understand the symbolism behind the Lords' behaviours, maybe as you said they represent the obstacles Ethan had to overcome. In one single day and with his life on the line, instead of in the course of Rose's entire childhood and adolescence, but that's exactly why he hated being a protagonist of a horror game, lol.
Anyway, yeah. All in all, I don't think Resident Evil is a franchise where we should expect to sit down afterwards and ponder whether we were right to shoot the zombies that were trying to kill us. Again, I'm not the right person to ask this, since I don't know anything about other RE games, but that's the conclusion I'm making in a meta-thinking way.

Hard Lives - Jason Todd x Reader
It was unfair. The whole team seemed to hold a grudge against Jason, for what reason you did not know. He was cocky and arrogant, but he was harmless, to the team at least. He needed more experience, or so Bruce said, but he wasn’t being given it. Dick wanted him and the rest of you teenagers to stay in the Titans base. But it was clear Jason didn’t want to.
You didn’t either, but you were obeying the adults to the best of your ability. If they wanted you to remain put, it was in your best interest to do so.
From the way they treated him he became distant, retreating into his own quarters and limiting his socialisation to talking to Gar.
Jason liked to train. He wanted to be the best Robin he could. You envied his skill, and here you currently were, watching him take out his frustrations in a stick battle with the green haired boy.
Bruce's adoptee appeared to be winning, throwing his stick to the back of Gar's legs so that he fell onto the mat. The vigilante smirked, offering the closest person he had to a friend a hand up.
Gar accepted, shaking it before coming towards the exit, where you were stationed.
"He's not that bad." He told you, suspicious of your hovering.
Perhaps he thought you wrote examining the flaws in Robin's agility, or noticing how he was almost too cocky and confident with his physical ability. But you weren't. If anything, you'd consider what you were doing as admiring.
"I'm not judging tiger." You smirked at the blush that crept upon the meta human's face, watching as he bowed his head and fled to the hallway.
You enjoyed having that affect upon people. You had learnt a lot from those who had raised you. Your mothers as they were known.
Green eyes darted to you. Jason had spotted you. "Don't you have a circus to run or some plants to grow?"
His voice hunted his irritance. He knew that you had been raised by Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and he happened to hold it against you.
"Don't you have some blue eggs to squeeze out?" You retorted, coming away from the doorway and walking slowly towards Jason Todd.
"Funny." He simply remarked, not moving as you adventure closer. "What is the reason I am graced with your hilarious presence?"
The stick was still grasped in his left hand, since he had swapped it from his right when aiding Gar to his feet.
"Is it so hard to believe that I'm not here to taunt you or put you down like the others do?"
Hank was a criminal for it. He would purposely anger Jason, often ending in both a verbal and physical fight. You'd have thought that Hank, a grown man, would have more maturity than pick on a kid but apparently not.
Rachel made her occasional comments, whether that be away from his ears or not. Even if they were, Jason was well aware that she had a problem with him, even if it wasnt personal.
Kori never really had an opinion of him whatsoever. She had her own problems and it was visible that he was appreciative that she didn't consider him one of them.
Dawn kept her distance, but still stopped Hank from getting too into bullying the teenager. She was mature, not stupid. She was well aware of what Jason was capable of.
Dick always put him down. Telling him he could do and be better. It may have had the intention of being encouragement but it didn't work that way. It made his life even harder, reminding him that he wasn't the only Robin. Maybe he didn't want to be a copy of the Robin that Dick was. Just maybe he wanted to be his own version.
"Yes." He answered, tightening his grip whilst looking you in the eye the same way an enemy would.
It was stupid this whole ordeal was. Harley and Ivy stole you when you were a child from what you assumed to be a loving mother and hard working father. Yet Jason treated you as if it was your fault that you landed in their custody.
The others were nicer about the situation, possibly because you had distanced yourself from those villainous figures, and you were obedient. The same couldn't be said for Jason. He hated all of the rules that were set.
It was fine for him beforehand, when he had the full run of Wayne Manor. He could do whatever he wanted. But this was a base, a training facility that sheltered you all until you were ready to take on the real action.
"For all the time we have been here, I don't recall once doing such a thing." You smiled at him, but he only grimaced at the expression you put on your face. "Tell me if you do, refresh my memory if it's mistaken."
Jason couldn't hell himself, his eyes were trained to roll whenever you tried to be a smart ass. "Is it just a game to you? Why do you pretend to be so nice to me?"
It came blurting out of his mouth and he realised after. He had never voiced such a thing before.
"I don't pretend Jason." You told him, crossing your arms and looking down. "I've heard how hard your life was before Bruce, and I thought I'd cut you some slack. God knows that you need it."
He locked his lips nervously. He usually tried to present himself as proud and cocky, but it seemed that you had set off that switch in him.
"Do you maybe want to get out of here?" For all he knew, you would shove the offer back in his face or laugh at him for actually believing that you were joking all along. But you didn't. Instead you sent him a warm smile, one that you were clearly containing.
"And where do you have in mind?" You asked, knowing that you could trust him. You were a part of the same team, of course you could. If you couldn't have faith in one another, you couldn't have it in yourself.
...
Dick stopped Dawn when he saw her. This place, the past that came with it was a lot for them all to take in. But this was Titans Tower, a home for those who could do good with the bad in them.
"Have you seen Jason and (Y/N)?" Dawn wasnt the first person he had asked. He had yet to go around the rest of the tower, Gar had told him he saw you enter the training room just as he was leaving, but it was now empty.
"Maybe you should check the roof." She informed him. It wasnt meant to bring up their history, but when Dawn and Dick had been together, that had been their spot.
The sky was calming, even if it was under the influence of a storm. It was away from the world, and that was something they needed when being a hero.
He nodded at her, clambering up to where the roof was. And then he saw something he had never expected when he laid his feet on the very top surface.
You and Jason. It was a warm day, and the two of you barely noticed. The pair of you were curled into one another, with your eyes shut and your breathing calm.
This was how he wanted to see the two of you. Acting like teenagers instead of vigilantes in training.
The two of you had had such hard lives you deserved a break, and that was clearly what the two of you were having. Except you were sharing the time, seeing each other in a vulnerable state.
It made Dick feel old. He wasn't that old, but still, you kids were all growing up under their care, finding yourselves and each other.
...
You and Jason entered the dining space, together. Donna raised an eyebrow but remained silent.
Dick smirked at the Robin replacement, noticing how the boy kept stealing glances at you.
"I think you got a little burnt on the roof." Hank laughed at mostly Jason, which made him lower his head and shrink back into himself once again.
"He can't get burnt if he's already smoking hot." You defended him, leaning Hawk and everyone else at the table speechless.
Gar tried to stifle his laugh, but failed. For once he was happy to see you making someone other than him flustered.
And Jason was clearly flustered. His cheeks were glowing coral, and it wasn't due to the sun's beaming rays.
"You don't actually have a thing for him, do you?" Rachel attempted to joke, twirling her fork in her dominant hand.
"So what if I do?" You challenged her. The two of you got along, but you didn't appreciate anyone picking on Jason. It wasnt fair, they weren't even giving him a chance. "Perhaps you'd understand why if you stopped treating him like the shit on the bottom of your shoe."
"(Y/N)." Dick scolded you for your language but you ignored him.
You had let everyone's behaviour towards Jason slide for far too long. Today was the end of it, you'd ensure that. "No." You said to him. "None of you have even given him a chance, except for a few of us. You all look down at him or think of him as some rich spoilt boy. Maybe if you got to know him, or paid the littlest attention to detail, you would see how uncomfortable you all make him. He's human, like most of us in this room. He's done nothing but try and save our asses or follow Bruce's orders yet you still disregard him as the public does to us. Perhaps if you weren't such hypocrites, then you'd see the affect you are having on a teenage boy! "
There was nothing more you had to say, so you left, without eating or looking at Jason once more.
Dick tried to call you back, but instead you went to your room, where you hoped no one would bother you.
....
A fist lightly tapped your door. "I swear to god if it's you Rachel, I will got to the kitchen on a personal vendetta and grab that fork you were using and stab it into that stupid gem on your forehead."
But when you opened it you weren't met with Rachel. It was Jason.
"I hope you're not gonna stab me in the forehead." He sheepishly smiled, and you could only do the same. It was nice to hear him cracking the littlest of jokes.
You widened the entrance of your room, opening it so that he could enter. After he did, you shut it.
"Are you okay?" You were concerned. You knew the opinions of everyone in that room took a toll on him.
"I am after your explosive rant." He grabbed your hand. And then he frowned. "You must be hungry." He concluded.
"I'm fine." You assured him.
"Well we could always go out onto the streets and find some random food cart that serves overly expensive hot dogs." Jason still hadn't let go of your hand, and you didn't mind.
You let him see the warm smile again. "I'd like that." And you did.

17 - 20 / jason
prompt.
17. Has mental illness ever interfered with your muse’s ability to work or attend school?
i think in general jason’s ability to go to school is heavily dependent on his mental state at the time, and while he may almost always attend school he’s not always actually there and paying attention. generally speaking, his issues with school tend to be more on the developmental problems side of things than the mental illness side, but his mental health definitely affects his schooling heavily, especially in the early days. his distrust of adults, his tendency to shut down in high stress situations and his constant fear of doing things wrong really messes with him and isn’t good in a school environment, and has definitely caused trouble in the past. most of the time the “trouble” will be dissociating or skipping school, but there have been times that jason’s lashed out and started fights in moments of high stress. obviously none of this is helped by the fact that he’s heavily bullied and outcasted for being different, which in turn only makes his mental health worse, which only leads to him being even further outcasted. there’s also the issue of communication and jason not being able to really share why he’s upset or what’s going on in his head, or at least not being able to communicate it as well as other people could, which only makes it worse — especially in an environment like school where his behavior would simply be labeled as bad or problematic and no one would look much further than that.
when he gets older and owns/works at the brenner house he’s still heavily affected by his mental health in his day to day life, but he has a lot more in the ways of healthy coping mechanisms and professionals trained to deal with what he’s going through. it definitely still makes things really hard some days, but he’s much better at articulating what’s wrong and working to resolve it than he was as a teenager.
18. Has your muse attempted or considered suicide?
There’s definitely been a few times he’s considered it, and i don’t think i’d rule out attempts either. Throughout his years in the lab it was always a thought in his head, though he didn’t exactly know the concept of suicide at that point in time. He just knew that he wanted it all to be over, no matter the cost. The longer Jason’s out of the lab, the more he deals with darker thoughts and the eventual considerations that there’s no other way out. It’s most prominent as we get closer and closer to his downfall in arc four, and he has his strongest suicidal ideations when he’s on the streets. I could definitely see an attempt or two taking place during his time on the streets, with the culminations of years of trauma and abuse starting to catch up with him. The thoughts are less prominent once he’s taken in by miecz again, but there are definitely still lingering thoughts in his head and it takes a lot of therapy for him to be able to start moving past it. In his time with miecz, both before and after running away, jason definitely partakes in a lot of self destructive behaviours that could be extremely dangerous if he’s not careful, and while these behaviours aren’t directly linked to any suicidal thoughts they are definitely a symptom of them, and the behaviours are definitely much worse in the time immediately before and immediately after jason’s time on the streets.
19. Has your muse experienced stigma relating to mental illness?
i think a lot of the way jason is treated and mistreated is entirely based around his visible signs of trauma and his developmental delays as a result of that. School is a place this is seen most prominently, with the boy constantly torn between being treated like a very young child and being judged and persecuted like a regular teenager. it’s obvious through jason’s communication style and general demeanour that he’s not a normal kid, which i think has definitely led to a lot of people being wary of him or treating him very differently, especially in the sense of being outcasted by his peers since that’s just a general shitty thing kids to to kids who are different.
20. Does your muse feel supported in their relationships? Do their friends and family know about their mental illness?
I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t know about jason’s mental illness. He is generally very well supported, and the people around him are always trying to do the best that they can to help him. Jason’s always feeling the most cared for and supported by miecz and is always entirely aware of how much effort he’s putting in to sending jason to therapy and tutors and getting him support in every way possible. He isn’t really able to articulate very well just how much it means to him that miecz puts all this effort in, but he definitely does all he can to show that he appreciates the support he’s given. Once we hit arc four and he runs away obviously things are different and he’s feeling like he’s not very supported, but it’s less a feeling of not being supported and more a feeling that he doesn’t deserve the support or that the support is inherently useless and that he’ll never get better, which is something that takes a lot of work to move past after his time on the streets and is definitely a very messy hurdle to overcome.

Lilith isn't really that bad
Well first of all, I watched agony of a witch and while it's funny and a bit hilarious to see the cancel lilith memes, I think it's she's a little overhated at this point.
I was originally going to wait until the finale to say something about it but since there's nothing to speak about in rwby at the moment and again, the memes are funny but a bit too exaggerated, I'll be saying why I think lilith isn't THAT bad.
I went back and rewatched the episodes lilith was in to refresh myself and maybe notice a thing or two I haven't noticed the first time.
The first episode lilith appears in is "covention", seeing that while knowing lilith is the one responsible for Eda's curse was a different experience but I tried to put that knowledge aside for a bit and focused only on lilith and her behaviours with or without Eda. Same with the episode "sense and insensitivity" as well as "wing it like witches" and of course, "agony of a witch".
The first thing lilith does when she sees Eda is call her out on being a garbage collector and once Eda tells the kids something embarassing about lilith, she sends them away and questions Eda on the reason she's there but doesn't give her the time to respond and immediatly asks if Eda, who hasn't been to a covention in years, is there to join the emperor's coven. Which is promptly shut down as soon as she says it.
They argue over their students and lilith, who knows that she must capture Eda on sight, gives Eda a day of being free to go along with Eda's silly challenge. A little later into the episode, Eda pretends to be hurt and injured to play at Lilith's heartstrings.
Lilith tells Eda she wanted her to join the coven on her own, not by being forced into it.
All the other episodes Lilith shows up in go somewhat similarly. Lilith shows up to capture Eda, Eda makes light of the situation, there's a squabble but in the end, Lilith always walks away with a promise of coming back and capturing Eda. All episodes, except Agony of a witch.
We start agony of a witch with Lilith speaking to the Emperor's painting, saying how she haven't forgotten what she was promised. She would be given something if she managed to bring in Eda. She was interrupted by the little nasty demon lady (kikimora?) And is then accused of protecting Eda.
She refuses and readies a raid to the owl house which gets her captured by Hooty and after herself and her troops being relentlessly beat up by Hooty and promptly passing out in the woods, Lilith is summoned back to the emperor's castle. She's told that she's had many chances to capture Eda and that this would be her last chance. She is to bring Eda by twilight or else she'll be stripped of her rank and banished from the coven and after that, something changes.
Lilith is pacing in front of the Emperor's painting and muttering to herself. This coven obviously means a lot to lilith, Eda herself said that Lilith was so excited to see the Emperor coven that time they went together that she "peed a little". So this coven has been her dream for so long.
Luz and co's timing couldn't have been more perfect, she now not only has something to force Eda to join with but she also has something that will bring Eda straight to her. Desperate times require desperate measures. Lilith is waiting anxiously for Eda to show up, muttering about how of course Eda is making her wait when she's needed (her) to prove herself most.
She greets Eda and is met with cold silence, Eda isn't down for games this time so they fight. Lilith slips up and reveals that she was the one to curse Eda all along. She says she can fix it, if Eda would let her but Eda wouldn't listen (as she should). Eda felt betrayed. Were all those attempts at persuading Eda to join the coven in order to heal her curse fake? The emperor seems confident in his ability to heal it, Lilith cast the curse as a child after all. But did she?
Eda is strong, far stronger than most witches but she still can't break the curse on her own. The exilirs are less effective the more they're used and eventually they'll be useless.
So how did Lilith mange to cast such a powerful spell? Espicially if she wasn't as strong as a young careless Eda? Let alone an adult who is capable of strong af magic? Yet Eda can't undo the curse.
So was Lilith actually the person to do the curse?
Every year, the covention has a promising student they look to recruit. Children were allowed to join covens, but the emperor coven seems to look into students a little older.
What I think, considering what we were shown so far, is that Lilith was hoping to join the coven but the emperor had his eyes on Eda instead. From the beginning, Lilith showed signs of jealousy and resentment because Eda had so much raw power as a child. But lilith wanted to be a part of the coven so bad.
Had she been promised a spot if she were to force her sister to join as well? Seems likely but perhaps not. Maybe she lied and said she was better than Eda and she needed a way to suppress Eda's powers to keep her lie intact while also not really knowing the full extent of the curse? She seems to really want to lift the curse but why would she want that if she had done it herself?
I don't really know and I want to wait for when the finale is up before I have to draw my own conclusions but I still believe Lilith isn't as bad as she seems. Yes she did some nasty things but she isn't the big bad in the show and she seems to have affections for her sister so I would like to see if she'd regret her actions next episode or maybe even in the next season.
Regardless of the reasons, she still made the wrong choice but we all need to remeber that Lilith herself was a kid back then and kids are dumb. Give her the benefit of the doubt for now.
I also just like villain characters and redemption arcs are something I live for lol.

The Emperor’s New Gender
How can you help a 3-year-old to stop misgendering family friends who are transwomen? She isn't trying to insult them deliberately, but just doesn't perceive them as women and won't remember being corrected the next time she sees them. -Quora
First of all, as per further information in the comments, this is not your child and it is NOT your place to be interfering in how this family handles the issue unless they have specifically ASKED for your advice. This is something for the offended friends and the parents to work out, and if you value your friendships you will back out of what isn’t your problem. The entire fact that you feel entitled to force your personal beliefs on other people’s children and intervene in their parenting and other social relationships is extremely disturbing. I suggest you get a good book on Co-dependence recovery.
Secondly, this is an “Emperor’s New Clothes” problem. There is NOTHING “wrong” with this toddler (who at 3 is actually a preschooler), so there is nothing the parents can do about it. You can’t fix what isn’t broken. This reminds me of medieval parents getting the idea in their heads that crawling was too animalistic and ungodly, and strapping their children to little roundabouts to force them to skip crawling and go right to “proper human” walking. Crawling is developmentally necessary for most children and they rarely skip over it, and their lower leg bones and muscles are not yet ready to bear their full weight, leading to possible bow-leggedness. You cannot force children to skip developmental stages because it offends people based on some ideology they have. It has consequences. It is grown-ups here who must accept the natural development of children however inconvenient it is. This is called ACTING LIKE AN ADULT.
This is a normal stage of neurological development. At a certain point in the developing brain it starts to categorize things as a means to understand them. The ability to understand who is biologically male and producing sperm and who is biologically female and producing ova is self-evidently crucial to the survival of every species on the planet that has sexual reproduction. Even for species that can literally morph from one sex to the other, it is still crucial to recognize which members of their species are in which sexual form, and to have that skill locked well down before puberty hits. Therefore that ability is hard-wired into us, just like our ability to acquire language is. This child has reached a stage where they can now identify key markers of biological sex in people’s body shapes (hip to waist ratio, shoulder to hip ratio) and faces (relative size and placement of eyes, nose and philtrum lengths, chin length and width etc) but they have no idea yet what “gender” is as a concept because their brain is not mature enough to entertain a concept that still confuses many adults, apparently.
Children are notorious for mis-gendering everyone, not just trans people. I was mis-gendered by two preschoolers yesterday when I appeared at work in a skirt instead of my typical jeans. There was even a story decades back in Reader’s Digest illustrating how they mix up and conflate sex and gender roles. It was submitted by a parent who allowed their 4 year old to go to JK wearing his sister’s barrettes, only to have the teacher overhear him arguing with another boy about whether he was a boy or a girl. The boy eventually became exasperated and pulled down his pants to show the other boy his penis to prove he was a boy, to which the other boy dismissively said, “Everyone has a penis, only girls wear barrettes.”
Here I will suggest that you also need some good books on child development and evolutionary biology.
This situation would not have been a problem even a few years ago, before “transsexual” was turned into a dirty word and transgender was foisted on us, instead. Once upon a time you could just tell a child that:
A) not everyone who is male or female fits neatly into the typical or average appearance for their sex (or behaviour, for that matter)
B) some people who are born into one sex are unhappy about it for reasons we don’t yet understand. They feel strongly that they are the other sex internally (in their mind/brain) and are much happier if everyone just lets them live as the sex they feel inside as much as possible, and they can have hormones and surgery to help them do so. Since most of those people don’t fully understand themselves until past puberty, they develop outwardly like their biological sex and it can take a lot of time and money to change that.
and
C) It’s impolite and unkind to make personal remarks, or to draw attention to physical features or other differences which people have no control over.
We don’t yet fully understand the biological working of things like gender development, gender identity, or sexual orientations, but there is more than enough evidence that they are “real” events with correlates in the material world. We know that people with conditions that are known to affect the structure and function of their temporal lobes are much more likely to be GLB (including sudden shifts in their sexual orientation after events like head injuries, strokes and seizures) and much more likely to identify as trans or otherwise not conforming to the gender binary (including again, sudden changes to their sense of self-identity in the wake of neurological events). Obviously the majority of people who are LGBT haven’t had a head injury, stroke or seizure, so being LGBT is not “caused by” those things, they’re just some of many things that can “flip the switch”; genetics, pre-natal hormone exposure, birth order, and developmental life experiences have all been tentatively cited as having a role to play.
*People on both the Right and Woke Left will be determined to misunderstand me here as saying that being GLB or T is evidence of a “sickness” of some sort…either agreeing and using this information as “proof” that it’s so or becoming angry at me for equating the two. So let’s just head off that nonsense at Go. ALL MANNER of changes can happen in the wake of neurological events in the temporal lobe or elsewhere. One man who had a head injury suddenly became a mathematical genius…do you think that’s evidence that being good at math is a “sickness”? One person finds they become more emotional, another less so (neither is a pathology unless taken to extremes that prevent the person functioning). Some people who develop Temporal Lobe Epilepsy suddenly take up writing or (less often) the visual arts. Is being a writer or artist a biological flaw? Obviously not. The linkage of any trait with an area of the brain is not evidence that the trait is pathological (it might be, it might not), it is merely evidence that one or more neurological substrates that control that trait resides in that particular part of the brain. As regards gender identity, it tells us that there is some part of our brains where sexual self-identity arises and therefore the person’s experience may be subjective (only they experience it, others cannot perceive it unless told of it) but is not imaginary.
In the past children gradually acquired the ability for more complex categorization and learned to differentiate between someone’s biological sex, their gender presentation (how closely they match others of their sex), and societal gender roles. Children are remarkably accepting of diversity and exceptions to rules when they are presented matter-of-factly. More so than adults who apparently can’t accept facts which don’t fit with their ideologies on the Left, any more than Evangelical Young-Earth Creationists on the Right can, and feel the need to tie themselves into mindless, slogan-droning intellectual pretzels as a result.
The fact that we now view even toddlers with suspicion of “transphobia” and seek to indoctrinate their natural neurological development out of them should be a GIANT F*ING RED FLAG that we are NOT becoming more aware of diversity and more accepting, we are becoming LESS able to see the full extent of how diverse humans really are and are being forced to pigeonhole them into categories that the average five year old is supposed to be outgrowing. What we are seeing is an extremely judgmental, rigid and abusive cult that denies an obvious reality that even a child can see, that biological sex is real and important, and cannot be replaced by or conflated with gender identity or roles, even if we also agree that gender presentation and gender identity are also important biological realities. It used to be only children who foolishly did so, but now we have adults telling children that everyone can have a penis and only girls wear barrettes.
In the original story of The Emperor’s New Clothes, the child’s lack of indoctrination into social hierarchies left them nonconformist, and free to state what they saw with their own eyes with impunity. The child was not punished because children are not expected to be politically correct. In fact, it led the adults to realize that they had let fear and desire to conform and be thought clever blind them to obvious reality. It is the adults in the end who feel foolish and ashamed, and change their ways. We’re not yet at the end of the story of The Emperor’s New Gender, but based on the current trajectory the “adults” are going to double-down and I will soon be looking for a new career, as I will be expected to throw away everything I know about child development so that daycares can be run like Orwellian indoctrination camps. I will not participate in the ideological and developmental abuse of children so that a tiny minority of adults can live in a fantasy world in which they deny an aspect of reality when it has the temerity not to give a shit about their ideology.

Autistic Jotaro
Alright so I’m absolutely going to spend too much time on this but here we go.
The formal diagnostic criteria for ASD (autism spectrum disorders) are as follows:
A. Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts, as manifested by the following, currently or by history (examples are illustrative, not exhaustive, see text):
1. Deficits in social-emotional reciprocity, ranging, for example, from abnormal social approach and failure of normal back-and-forth conversation; to reduced sharing of interests, emotions, or affect; to failure to initiate or respond to social interactions.
2. Deficits in nonverbal communicative behaviors used for social interaction, ranging, for example, from poorly integrated verbal and nonverbal communication; to abnormalities in eye contact and body language or deficits in understanding and use of gestures; to a total lack of facial expressions and nonverbal communication.
3. Deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships, ranging, for example, from difficulties adjusting behavior to suit various social contexts; to difficulties in sharing imaginative play or in making friends; to absence of interest in peers.
B. Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities, as manifested by at least two of the following, currently or by history (examples are illustrative, not exhaustive; see text):
1. Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech (e.g., simple motor stereotypies, lining up toys or flipping objects, echolalia, idiosyncratic phrases).
2. Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns or verbal nonverbal behavior (e.g., extreme distress at small changes, difficulties with transitions, rigid thinking patterns, greeting rituals, need to take same route or eat food every day).
3. Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus (e.g, strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, excessively circumscribed or perseverative interest).
4. Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input or unusual interests in sensory aspects of the environment (e.g., apparent indifference to pain/temperature, adverse response to specific sounds or textures, excessive smelling or touching of objects, visual fascination with lights or movement).
C. Symptoms must be present in the early developmental period (but may not become fully manifest until social demands exceed limited capacities or may be masked by learned strategies in later life).
D. Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of current functioning.
E. These disturbances are not better explained by intellectual disability (intellectual developmental disorder) or global developmental delay. Intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder frequently co-occur; to make comorbid diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability, social communication should be below that expected for general developmental level.
If I recall correctly from my last class on the matter, to be officially diagnosed with ASD, a qualified individual has to note at least 2 criteria from sections A and B, and all three criteria stated in C, D and E. I am not in any way qualified to diagnose autism, of course, but I can make some notes and observations based on each of these. Also keep in mind that to ‘qualify’ these traits must be persistent, i.e. not related to a mood (not feeling like talking) or a circumstance, and instead being a constant behaviour of the individual in most or all circumstances. So one-time happenings do not count.
Criteria set A: In regards to social interactions and communication
1. Deficits in social-emotional reciprocity, ranging, for example, from abnormal social approach and failure of normal back-and-forth conversation; to reduced sharing of interests, emotions, or affect; to failure to initiate or respond to social interactions.
I don’t think I need to go into much detail for this one, it’s not that difficult to notice that Jotaro doesn’t talk much, talks even less about himself, his interests, and his feelings, and rarely carries a full conversation (especially before part 4). He doesn’t start conversations without a purpose, and he doesn’t carry them any longer than he needs to.
2. Deficits in nonverbal communicative behaviors used for social interaction, ranging, for example, from poorly integrated verbal and nonverbal communication; to abnormalities in eye contact and body language or deficits in understanding and use of gestures; to a total lack of facial expressions and nonverbal communication.
Note in particular, “total lack of facial expression”. While we do note a range of expressions in Jotaro:
Majority of these expressions are very similar in structure. I could probably narrow down the entirety of Jotaro’s expressions to four faces: angry, small smile, what the fuck, and tense. Compare that to, for example, Josuke:
We can also note difficulties in eye contact and body language. Jotaro will fairly regularly tilt his head down and touch his cap, fully blocking any and all eye contact with whoever he’s interacting with. He also looks away quite often when talking to someone, which is played for dramatic effect, but could also very well be an avoidance of eye contact.
As far as body language goes? He pretty much only ever stands one way when he’s not fighting or doing something active with his hands, and that pose has him with his hands either on his hips or in his pockets. Zero gesturing for effect, except when doing cliche things he likely copied from somewhere - pointing at a foe when threatening them, for example. Also, remember when a complete stranger glomped him directly in the chest and he didn’t react physically *at all*?
3. Deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships, ranging, for example, from difficulties adjusting behavior to suit various social contexts; to difficulties in sharing imaginative play or in making friends; to absence of interest in peers.
Oh boy, the list here goes on for ages. You can tell Jotaro cares deeply about the people in his life, like Josuke, Joseph, Holly, Jolyne, Kakyoin, Polnareff, etc., only because of his actions regarding their safety. He rarely, if ever, expresses any emotion or feeling to them at all (the sole exception I can think of is the one time he told Jolyne he cherished her), offers no physical comfort to them, and can come off as not only cold, but downright mean. See: repeatedly calling his mom a bitch and telling her to leave him alone, pushing away her kisses, and then travelling across the entirety of Asia to save her life. See also: never being there for his daughter, barely being home, being emotionally distant from her, then showing up to risk his life for the sake of her safety.
So basically, I think he ticks all three boxes here. Moving on.
Criteria set B: In regards to interests and behaviour
1. Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech (e.g., simple motor stereotypies, lining up toys or flipping objects, echolalia, idiosyncratic phrases).
For those who don’t know, echolalia refers to repeating sounds, phrases, or actions seen in other people or in media. It’s very common for autistic people, especially children, to be much more comfortable mimicking behaviour than ‘creating’ their own. For example, ignoring a question asked of them to instead quote a favourite movie, hum a favourite tune, or copy a common behaviour of an adult or peer.
In terms of repetitive motor movements, Jotaro will often touch his cap, clench his fists/jaw, shut his eyes when frustrated, and so on. Repetitive speech also makes a show, with “yare yare daze”, “ora”, and so on. He’s also very specific with which sounds he uses in his throat to express emotion - note when Polnareff asks the impostor Jotaro, “Since when did you make noises like that?”
I can’t prove echolalia, because I have no access to what kind of media Jotaro was exposed to as a kid or the behaviours those around him frequently exhibited, but I can make some guesses. Now and then he delivers lines or makes poses that he almost certainly saw in some cool action movie. In particular, this one that he does a *lot* of:
2. Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns or verbal nonverbal behavior (e.g., extreme distress at small changes, difficulties with transitions, rigid thinking patterns, greeting rituals, need to take same route or eat food every day).
Again, I can’t prove most of this because we didn’t see much of Jotaro’s day-to-day life before the Crusade, but we did see a few things. For example, his mother not coming to kiss him on the cheek was concerning enough to him to go back into the house and investigate, because that’s a break to routine. There are a good hundred or more reasons why Holly might have been unable to come and give Jotaro that kiss, including that she just forgot for once, but Jotaro instantly assumed something was wrong. (Which of course it was, but the point still stands.)
He also demands the exact same clothing be made for him again after his original set was ruined, and he refuses to wear anything else, ever. He has specific names for people and will stick to them, never using variations or pet names. His fighting style never changes unless it *has* to for the sake of getting anywhere in the fight. He also has much more of an eye for detail and things being out of place than the rest of the group, see: calling out Enya/Enyaba for knowing his name prematurely, one of his stand abilities being superhuman sight for details, etc.
Also his mum’s cooking is his favourite food, according to Araki, which is an interesting detail. It’s the food he’s eaten at probably every meal in his childhood, or at least most of them. It’s the “right way” for food to be. Or he could just like the way his mum makes rice for no reason except it tastes good. Shrug.
3. Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus (e.g, strong attachment to or preoccupation with unusual objects, excessively circumscribed or perseverative interest).
Fish. Jotaro loves fish, and that’s honestly about the only thing we see him express any interest in. We know from Araki that he has a favourite movie and song and all, but he never shows any investment in these things. He’s never played video games before the Crusade, and possibly never does after. We never see him do anything in his downtime that isn’t directly related to fish. We do know he can play poker, and pretty damn well, but even that comes as kind of a surprise when it’s revealed.
4. Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input or unusual interests in sensory aspects of the environment (e.g., apparent indifference to pain/temperature, adverse response to specific sounds or textures, excessive smelling or touching of objects, visual fascination with lights or movement).
Again, fish and water. There’s something oddly different and somehow tactile in the way sea life moves. Not literally tactile, of course, but still. Nothing else moves the way the surface of the ocean does. There’s a coolness to the colour and feel of it all, and any time Jotaro is underwater or near water, you can bet he’ll be sneaking off to look out windows or take in the sea floor scenery. This isn’t a headcanon by the way, it’s done deliberately in the anime (not so much the manga though, apparently). This is making a bit of an assumption, but there are more reasonable things to point out, too; the insistence on his jacket even in the hot weather, his need to keep his hands in his pockets, getting overly annoyed at people chattering around him, etc.
So he pretty much ticks all four boxes here, too, to varying degrees.
Criteria sets C, D and E: regarding severity
C. Symptoms must be present in the early developmental period (but may not become fully manifest until social demands exceed limited capacities or may be masked by learned strategies in later life).
Honestly, we have no way of knowing for this one. We never see Jotaro as a kid and the only time it’s talked about is when Holly says he ‘used to be a good boy’, or something to that effect. I’m going to assume he meets this criteria, but honestly have no idea.
D. Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of current functioning.
See: every relationship Jotaro has ever had.
See also: Jolyne hating her father.
I could go into detail, but c’mon. We all know Jotaro has enough trouble with social things to maintain healthy relationships. It’s half the setup for Stone Ocean.
Considering Jotaro has ticked every single box even when only some of the criteria were required for certainty, I’m pretty sure we can say no other disorder/disability/anything will “better explain” anything. He shows no signs that he lacks intelligence or the ability to care, so intellectual and emotional defects and disorders can be ruled out.
This has been an entirely unasked for and way too long essay by me about something nobody else probably even cares about. Enjoy!
tl;dr: Joot autistic af bruh don’t @ me

Ah, how much we love episode four! It’s one of those ones that’s just so nice, isn’t it? For the most part it’s smooth sailing and we all know how it ends for both our boys. They get the boy! There’s kissing and closeness and fun and romance! But for both of them, these things are a bit different and what they want and get out of these encounters is quite different. Even wants the grand gesture, something to solidify the things he’s been building up to with Isak over the last week or two, and David … well, he didn’t exactly want this in the same way. And yet, once he makes up his mind he’s quite determined. His gesture isn’t on the same scale as Even’s and yet it’s just as filled with purpose.
For previous Even and David comparisons click here to start
For the Isak and Matteo version you can start here
David makes the first approach after the almost kiss, messaging Matteo in Italian as soon as he’s awake. I know there was a lot of theorising at the time that he was waiting for Matteo to wake up so he could send it, and that’s plausible; it certainly came very soon after Matteo started looking at stuff on his phone. The genuinely lovely thing about this, apart from this being David making the effort to reach out, is that they are already sharing their inside jokes. This becomes something of a thing between them, posting and saying things that only mean something to them. No-one else is going to look at that picture of cheese toasts and think ‘wow that’s romantic’ and yet … these two are., and it’s a connection that is being forged between the two of them. It’s no wonder, then, that Matteo asks him to hang out next week; David has made his interest pretty plain. They almost kissed and now they’re sharing cryptic messages to each other that no-one else will ever understand. As an aside, I do wonder how they got away from the kitchen after that close call. For Isak and Even, Noora is there and remains as a constant presence stopping anything else happening again. For David and Matteo, Mia and Alex leave and they just sort of hang awkwardly in the kitchen. I guess once things are broken into like that, it’s hard to recapture the magic, particularly if the cold light of day intrudes in the form of a couple arguing. For David, who is already a little hesitant, that could easily be a reminder that he could be risking a lot only to have it fall apart easily. He doesn’t really know Matteo yet, doesn’t know the depths of his ability to love and show affection and support. So, I guess it does make sense that he might carefully finish cleaning up and then leave after the magic of that moment is gone. That makes the reaching out the next day a lot more interesting, if it is the case. That’s David overcoming his hesitations and remembering the good stuff about that night and not instantly pushing the possibility away.
For Even, Isak is the one who reaches out to him via text, and he gives him an actual dismissal. I have spent far too much time wondering about why he would do this, and part of me wonders if it’s because Sonja was there with him when he got the message, and so he couldn’t really say what he wanted to say. Effectively, ‘I forgot I had stuff to do with my girlfriend’ is quite dismissive. The tone here, when we compare it to David’s first message, is very standoffish. In general, Even is the one who is more open and eager and David is the standoffish one. So it seems like there must be something else going on there, particularly when we look at how he is when he comes up to Isak to suggest pregaming for the Halloween party together. This text, the dismissive one, is mirrored by Matteo’s second attempt to reach out to David. But interestingly, David at this point doesn’t give the really solid ‘no’ that Even does. I’m not actually sure which would be better: being ignored or being told ‘nope, doing stuff with my actual girlfriend, remember her’ but Isak is left in no doubt about where he stands. Or so he thinks.
Then the invitation to the pregame is so deliberate and purposeful. Even makes the approach, and does his ‘I’m super cool’ thing. One thing with both boys at this point -- they do both know that Isak and Matteo are on the page with them. The difference: Even wants it, quite desperately, and is overjoyed to have it. His demeanour in the hallway is relaxed though with a hint of fear that maybe Isak will think differently (either after the rejection in the weekend, or because Even may be worried that he has had time to rethink what almost happened on Friday). David on the other hand is conflicted. He’s still torn between wanting to not tell anyone anything and just how drawn he is to Matteo. Again, the fact that this is a huge thing for him is shown up in the way that David is on screen and around Matteo a lot more. We can assume that, since Matteo and Sara saw him and Leonie together, that David could easily have seen Matteo with Sara. At this point, there’s that thing again - Matteo has a girlfriend, so how is it possible for David to get what he wants (but is also quite reluctant to go after at this point)? His ‘hot and cold’ behaviour is quite likely to be because his head and his heart keep warring with him. Sensibly, he knows that he should just put his head down, get through the rest of the year and then go his merry way. Unfortunately our feelings are never sensible and so he finds himself drawn back to Matteo over and over and over again. He needs to see him, though. The pull is at its greatest when they are close.
Of course, alongside Isak, we soon find out that Sonja has inserted herself into the pregame. To Isak this could easily look like ‘oh well, guess the kissing was a game when drunk then, here’s his girlfriend again’ but to Even it’s probably really frustrating as it gets in the way of his grand plans. Between the lines, we can work out that Even is probably still trying to soothe Sonja’s feathers (I doubt the way he stayed behind on Friday endeared him to her). He’d rather just be pregaming with Isak, but she’s found out about it and so they have to make it a team effort. And then she tells Emma! So Even has not only his own girlfriend to contend with, but now also the one Isak has been kissing etc. It must be incredibly frustrating for him, so the way he acts at the pregame isn’t all that unusual.
David, on the other hand, gets more interaction with Matteo. They meet again in the hallways during exam time, and while again the interaction is a little awkward (some of it potentially to do with David panicking because he’s been seen coming out of the teacher’s bathroom), Matteo makes it very clear where he stands: he’d love to get some cheese toasts again. It’s more of the insider thing, the way they can make these references to something and have them meaningful but completely go over the heads of anyone else who may hear them. The interesting comparison here is that while Matteo and David see more of each other and make more effort to communicate with each other, Matteo never asks David to Abdi’s party. David comes along as a guest of Leonie’s, and mirroring the bits with Sonja and Emma, Sara is acting like this is her party and she has invited her friends to it; fascinating considering that Matteo didn’t even ask her to come and she had to go to him. So, once again we see Even being the more proactive one in terms of manipulating a situation to go how he wants it to. He very deliberately asks Isak to a social event together. David does not. He’s there almost by chance.
Even’s experience of the pregame is clearly very frustrating. Sonja and Emma are getting on like a house on fire, they’ve been sitting and talking presumably for a long time. It’s all very adult and respectable (compare to the neon pregame which was much more spontaneous and fun), and Isak looks bored out of his mind. Sonja has turned it into something she likes, but that has sucked every ounce of everything Even intended out of it. Worse, he’s miles away from Isak and the only conversation they can have is banal and stilted. It’s no wonder he’s snippy with Sonja. She’s ruined his plans and now she’s trying to police him. The difference for David is that he walks in on a very heated argument in a situation where he’s not even necessarily sure he’s welcome. Much more heated than the one between Sonja and Even. David’s care, however, is not at all for Sara (and to be fair, Isak’s isn’t for Sonja either), and he checks in on how Matteo is doing. Again, the difference here is interesting. Even suggests that he and Isak should leave and isak follows. Matteo asks if David wants to go with him and he willingly agrees. For one set, obviously, they are more ‘together’ in this escape, whereas for the other Isak hesitates before leaving.
The difference in timing comes into play here as well. Isak and Even cycle for a while before they get where they’re going (which doesn’t appear to be all that purposeful until Even spots it and realises what he can do), David and Matteo do too, but David seems to have a much firmer grasp on where they are going and why. We see in episode 8 that these two actually spent a fair bit of time wandering the building before they get into the pool area. They have an already firmly established trust and have been indulging in a lot of silliness and banter prior to this moment. So the ‘game’ David suggests holds much less weight. They both seem to be very comfortable with what’s happening here, very much just waiting for that first step to be taken and so the ‘bet’ isn’t taken as seriously, and even the ‘rematch’ is obviously not really about breath holding. For Even, however, the ‘game’ is of much greater importance, partly because he’s recreating one of his favourite movie scenes and wants it to go well, but also partly because it gives him some cover of a sort. First, it allows plausible deniability if things were to go wrong the way they did last time he tried to kiss a boy. Second, it keeps Isak from being too spooked. His body language is much more stilted and anxious than Matteo’s is. Partly because they did just break and enter into someone’s house in the middle of the night, and he’s obviously wary of that, but also partly because they haven’t had the same time to build up to this.
For both Even and David this is a moment where they get to experience the joy of connecting with the boy they’re really into. Everything is stripped away except for them together, kissing, and the interruption when it comes is just as intrusive for both. What it means to each of them is a little different, though. For Even it’s the relief of knowing he didn’t misread and that this boy is into him as well, and also the knowledge that he’s going to have to break it off with Sonja. She becomes someone who’s standing in the way, and within a day of this he’s decided he has to end it. David, by contrast, is now in very scary territory. He’s happy of course that he took that leap, and the way he so very deliberately went about it shows that he’s actually very keen on the idea and on being with Matteo. But for him, he now has to make some decisions about what he tells Matteo and when, he’s treading ground that could take him back to where he was at his old school. In some ways, for David Sara represents the ability to keep things more chill with Matteo. While she is on the scene, David doesn’t have to make any sort of final decision. I doubt it’s quite this deliberate in his thoughts, but she’s still something of a buffer.when he still needs it. They’re both, Even and David, at a point where they have the boy and are happy. But they’re each in very different spaces in terms of what that means to them. One thing that is the same for both is that each has a secret and it’s a secret he really doesn’t want to have exposed. And each is now in a situation and with someone who can make those carefully kept secrets come out. It’s both an amazing time and a scary one.
Onwards to episode five

Jason Todd: Badass
A/N: Jason Todd back in his Robin day’s, inspired by the Titans TV Series to be quite honest.
>>>>——————————>
They couldn't understand it, no one could. There was Jason Todd, Robin 2.0, renowned for his fiery temper and street thug background - which on his own was perfectly normal - but then there was you. Innocent, kind hearted and pure, beautiful you with a moral conscience to rival Supermans'.
It wasn't supposed to be a viable match but anyone could blatantly see Jason had a thing for you whereas you continued to be unreadable much to the surrounding heroes frustration. According to their knowledge, you were an extension of the Batfamily albeit not in the vigilante game but rather an associate and closest to Jason in particular. Origins remain unknown.
.
In retrospect they shouldn't have underestimated you from the start, possibly even delved deeper into why their resident cold hearted Robin was enamoured with a holy angelic soul such as yourself. Regardless, it was too late and as soon as you'd heard whispers of Robins capture echoing throughout Young Justice you found yourself standing before Nightwing and his selected Team within the hour demanding you go with them. Wally laughed, and Artemis immediately slapped him whilst Dick shook his head in disappointment.
"I'm going."
"I get you wanna protect Robin (Y/n), but it'd be safer for you here." West justified despite how adamant you were.
"Thanks for the concern KF but I can handle myself. When do we leave?"
"They’re right, it’s too dangerous, we’ll bring back Robin. There’s too many men to risk your life (Y/n).” Nightwing was correct, his tone more of an order even though you were not under his supervision by any means.
However, the one thing about knowing Nightwing was that he was Team Leader, essentially whatever he says goes - and this time that didn’t fall in your favour.
That's not how you found yourself staring up at Bane with Robin tied up a few paces behind you with blood dripping from his lips - no, you did that by disobeying orders and tailing the Team. It hadn't surprised you that Jason’s reckless headstrong attitude had gotten him stuck here in the first place but you couldn’t chastise him when you’d reinacted the same choices in order to save him. Meanwhile the rest of your unwilling squad were withheld by the threat of your safety - you're sure you could hear Batgirl and Kid Flash curse at your behaviour but you’d do anything to protect the people you care about.
.
"Bane right? How about I propose a deal, if I beat you senseless then we all go free and if you win, then you can do whatever you want." You playfully suggested, the less than intimidating stature you held and cherished smile encouraging his confidence. Even though he had the upper hand, it wouldn't be displaying the correct image to his employees if he turned down a challenge from the weakest opponent out there.
"I wouldn't Bane." It was a cough, a splutter from a smug Robin despite the unanimous glares/protests from the rest of your team.
"Bring it Pipsqueak!"
It was painful for all of them to watch, Kid Flash making visible movements towards you every time you took a hit only stopping himself when guns were aimed at your figure. You heard Artemis and Nightwing desperately call your name as you were slammed to the ground again, Banes hand tightly around your throat as you were pushed further into the floor with a groan.
"Stupid bet to make kid, but you and your friends will pay for it." He released his grip, allowing you to slowly get back onto your feet and wipe away the blood from your nose with a giggle. The villain immediately snapped to you, expressions of shock littered the room - all except the relieved smile of Jason because he knew you better than anyone ever could under the kindest smile known to man.
"I haven't lost yet~"
“Wha-“
“Did you know that you pivot your right foot 45 degrees away from your target when you go for a left uppercut?” Your head tilted as he came at you, performing the perfect counter thus silencing the room.
“And you do not have your anger under control, therefore your movements become desperate and easier to predict. Much like now.” Your tone was informative, analytic and upbeat as you sent Bane to the floor again.
It was like something flipped, reality had been warped or some other inconceivable explanation was required - your movements had changed, now quicker and stronger than ever as you anticipated Banes every offence, mapped him out like a book and within 57 seconds the huge male was knocked unconscious on the cold concrete of the warehouse with you elegantly crouched on his chest with an innocent grin. In the midst of their awe, Nightwing managed to take an advantage whilst the guards were distracted enabling his team to make a clean escape too.
.
You delicately walked over to Jason, slicing his restraints with the male practically falling into your arms.
"I warned him, that was badass doll." Robin lowly chuckled, forehead resting against yours which displayed how grateful he was to see you. Normally affection would never be displayed in front of anyone else unless it was playful flirting but this? This was meaningful.
"You okay dork? You're bleeding a bit." You softly replied, thumb brushing across his lower lip to remove the crimson liquid and looking back up to be met with his admiring gaze.
It was no secret that he liked you, it was in the way he spoke or rather flirted - a characteristic of Robins as you'd discovered but it was genuine, you knew because he opened up to you - whether he had meant to or not. There were the sweet gestures where he forgot himself and the momentary lapses, where he remembered that he was Robin and dating you would be dangerous.
Yet in this instance he couldn't care, because danger was exhilarating and you would make everything worth it so he closed the distance a little further as if silently asking if you felt the same. You noticed, being attune to the way he thought made the whole ordeal easier and you couldn't help the sincere smile gracing your features at the action, taking it as a sign of approval his lips met yours in a slow chaste kiss.
It was over as soon as it got started, Robin not even thanking you as you glared up at the boy wonder before rolling your eyes and brushing past Kid Flash who could barely make sense with his frantic gestures. Artemis' gaze followed you out, opting to comment on what they were all thinking as Jason stood beside Nightwing.
"No wonder you like (Y/n) so much."
"Tch, yeah right. That badass nerd - hell no." Robin laughed, smirking proudly at his brother.
"You literally just kissed-" Dick began, already confused by Little Wings’ contradicting displays.
"Bro, you kiss girls all the time. Doesn't mean anything."
"You what?!" Barbara practically radiated rage at Jasons’ haphazard statement, Nightwing instantly paling at the revelation.
"Ah no, Batgirl not like that I - Robin!!"
"See ya, thanks for the assisted save because let's be honest (Y/n) woulda just come alone anyways!" Before his brother could finish, Jason had offered a salute and disappeared into the night leaving the ‘adults’ to resolve their issues.
.
Later that night, you found yourself in one of Gotham's many local bars leaning against the counter simply minding your own business when a bottle was slid in your direction. You directed your irises toward the origin, finding none other than Jason wearing his favourite hoodie under a casual jacket with a beer bottle in his hand.
"How was your night?"
"I saved a guy tonight, didn't get much thanks mind you." There was a tinge of venom in your voice but it was more exasperated than anything.
"Oh? A kiss and a beer not good enough, what sort of thanks were you expecting?" Jason was sarcastic on the other hand, leaning on the bar beside you.
"I don't know Jaybird, now Arty, Wally and Babs know what I'm capable of. I'm an asset to them."
"You're not, Dick wouldn't let that happen and you don't have to join the Team. But hey seeing you kick butt up close and personal was an experience." He was serious now, your companionship was important to him and he’d never let them use your abilities when you didn’t want part of his lifestyle. He’d promised that many moons ago.
"Oi! What the heck are you two doing in here, you aren't 21!" You both flicked to the outraged voice of Dick Grayson, the male standing at the doorway with Barbara in tow. It was a shock to Dick and Barbara when they caught you both at the bar, underage - how'd you even get in?Instantly Jason grabbed your hand, intertwining your fingers with his own as you both laughed whilst dancing through the crowd toward the fire exit.
"Don't even think about it or I'm using this as blackmail!" Babs echoed, not so fluently managing to evade bodies due to her taller stature.
.
You ran, and you laughed, staggering onto his favourite rooftop of all Gotham - the one adorned with Gargoyles, his favourite perched proudly at the centre. You’d managed to lose the other two more experienced Bats much to your amusement. The wind graced your skin and your gaze shifted to the night sky admiring the rare clarity of the stars, however Jason came to a halt beside you, finding your fascination to be much more beautiful.
"It's funny, we're just a streetrat who needs adult supervision and a misguided teenager who can barely function in society. How did we make it this far?" You mindlessly stated, eyes embarrassingly directed toward the ground as you smiled.
Jason moved closer to you, lifting you chin with his finger to meet his irises before he spoke.
"Isn't it obvious? Because it's us, we're here together despite whatever our connection is." He was so gentle despite his contrasting occupation, closing the distance between your bodies as he went.
"I shouldn't have kissed you tonight." Your tone was lower, halting his actions and you missed the brief glimpse of heartbreak cross his features. However his tone was more confident yet soft as he replied working to hide his disappointment.
"I'm pleased you did."
"Ah classic Robin behaviour." You rolled your eyes, but he sensed the playfulness behind your comment.
"If you haven't noticed... I've got a little thing for you, it's been us as a team for a while that somewhere along the line I thought about 'us' as more. Sure you're no vigilante, but you're my friend and that means more than anything." It was enough, you could allow yourself moments like these to be forgotten with the wind. And you let him in once more, like you had done on multiple occasions before, you let him kiss you, with as much admiration he could display in such an intimate act.
You pulled away, breathless, enjoying the time you had knowing that every night he left could be your last - but for now, you had him.
"I'm glad it's you Jason."
"Me too (Y/n). Me too, until death rips us apart."
.
Little did you know how soon that would be.

CLAN LAVELLAN - Chapter 2/4
DESCRIPTION: As Keeper Deshanna’s First, El'lana Aemma Lavellan is sent on her first diplomatic mission, which lies far beyond the familiarity of the Free Marches and her clan. The only home she has ever known.
SERIES: Halla & Wolf
VOLUME: 1
Lana and Lhoris’ walk back to camp is quiet and uneventful, which suits Lana just fine.
Like her mother, she usually finds small talk and those who speak just to fill silence, tiresome. Conversations should be serving a purpose to warrant the effort of talking, otherwise blissful silence will do.
However like her father, should someone speak up with the desire to teach, Lana will always be ready to listen. Learning new facts about almost anything interests her; especially when it comes to the ancient elves, nature, magic and the mind.
With her passion for all things Elvhen, and a keen philosophical mind and strong moral compass, the Keeper declared that if Lana weren’t a mage, she would have encouraged her to become one of their clan’s Hahren.
Now that Lhoris has announced his desire to bond with Tamara, her closest girlfriend, Lana finds herself remembering the day Rhys did the same.
~ It was the year before: The beginning of Bloomingtide and around the time when the humans celebrated their Summerday holiday. Rhys had taken Lana out into the forest, insisting they were only looking for elfroot and wild berries, but instead he took her to a secluded cave, long abandoned by whatever used to live there. It’s entrance was partially blocked by a small, quiet flowing waterfall. When they entered, Lana saw it decorated with wildflowers and a few lit candles set into the floor.
Realising what was about to take place, Lana tried to interject in time but Rhys managed to take her by the face, pulling her in for a passionate kiss and then stopped to ask, “El’lana Aemma Lavellan, will you do me the honour and bond with me?” ~
Lhoris and Lana eventually reach a clearing and stop just before an edge, and both look down at their home lying ahead.
Clan Lavellan currently lies near the Minanter River between Tantervale and Starkhaven in the Free Marches. The clan always situates themselves on the borders between states. This will both lessen the risk of humans chasing them away, as it might cause a war with their neighbours. It also gives the clan opportunities to trade amongst more than one human city or town at a time.
While there are many clans around Thedas that naturally avoid humans, Keeper Deshanna has always been more open minded when it comes to trading amongst the shem.
While the clan can survive on their own, the Keeper values some crafts made by humans that they can’t easily make themselves. And in return, the humans trade for the clan’s specially crafted items. Such as any work made from ironbark, since only the Dalish yield the ability to craft from it effectively.
The camp is simple and practical but more importantly, home. Within a large forest clearing, there is the main fire pit with makeshift stools around it. Fanning out from the centre pit, you have a place for the weaponsmith, food stalls, merchant carts, a healers tent and a pen for their halla.
The halla are always scattered freely amongst the clan during the day and never wonder too far from camp. They understand that the clan protects them and they always come back before dark.
On the outskirts of the camp are the trees, where the tents lie between the open spaces. Decorating the lower branches hangs daily laundry, drying herbs and cured meats. Scattered amongst some of the tree bases even ly makeshift alters to a specific Elvhen god.
Clan Lavellan consists of only a couple dozen people. The majority of them range between youngsters to older adults, with only a small few being children - who are extremely sacred amongst the Dalish. With so few Dalish elves left, any new born amongst the clan is considered to be a momentous occasion.
Lhoris and Lana jump down the ledge and continue walking towards the camp.
~ Lana had pulled away from Rhys’s grip, shaking her head in disbelief, “Ir abelas…” and her eyes started welling up with tears as sorrow gripped her heart.
Staying silent, Rhys went as white as snow and the look on his face said it all. She had broken his heart and spirit with only two words but she knew, deep down, it had to be done.
Suddenly, Rhys’s pale, heart-broken face disappeared as it morphed and twisted into a blood-red, full of rage expression instead. His breath turned rapid as he became hostile and aggressive - his typical behaviour when he doesn’t get his way. With fury burning in his eyes, he barked, “How dare you reject me! Because you are First, you think yourself better than me? I am the best you’ll ever find! You ungrateful bitch!” stepping closer with his fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned white. “You will regret the day you turned me down.” and stormed out of the cave. ~
“Lhoris! Lana!” cries Tamara as she proceeds to run towards them.
Tamara Elohra Yevven Lavellan is a tiny young woman with mousy facial features and short raven-black hair. Her complexion is significantly paler and lighter in comparison to Lhoris or Lana, and beholds the most strikingly large, emerald green eyes. And to compliment her eyes, Tamara wears an earthy-green vallaslin representing June; God of the Craft.
“Vhenan!” exclaims Lhoris to Tamara, both young lovers embrace each other with affection and once released, Lhoris plants a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“Where have you two been?” Tamara pleads with concern. “The Keeper came back quite some time ago and I was wondering why you didn’t return with her? The sun has almost set. Even all the halla are back and accounted for!”
Tamara is infamously known for her constant state of worry over others and their well-being. She has a sweet and timid nature, but can be fairly melodramatic at times.
“No need to worry vhenan,” Lhoris takes her hand and brings it to his lips for a gentle kiss, knowing exactly how to calm her down. “We’re perfectly fine. We were just catching up.”
“Of course.” Tamara releases a quiet, bashful chuckle. “I’m glad you’re both home safely.”
“When did you get back, Tammy?” asks Lana as all three head further into camp with Lhoris between them, holding Tamara’s hand.
“Not too long ago,” Tamara peers passed Lhoris to look at Lana. “This trip went very well, actually. The weather was kind and so were the shems.”
“That’s great!” exclaims Lana with relief.
Having never left the clan, Lana always gets concerned when Tamara, or anyone else for that matter, leaves the clan to go trade in the nearby towns with the shems. Which luckily is only once a month but it can last several days at a time.
All three young elves reach the centre of the camp and Lhoris stops to turn around, regarding them both, “I’m going to help the others. The rams aren’t going to remove their skin and spill out their guts for us.”
“Lhoris! Gross!” cries Tamara with her eyes wide with shock, while Lana scrunches her face up with disgust.
Throwing both hands up in protest, “What? How do you think it happens?” and spins around with a cheeky grin. Oh, how he loves tormenting them.
Lana looks adoringly at Tamara as she watching Lhoris walk off, and rolls her eyes as she giggles quietly to herself.
I can’t believe how much she loves that man-child.
Tamara turns to Lana and grabs her by the hand, “Come on. I want to show you something.” and leads Lana through the centre of camp and towards their tents amongst the trees.
On the way, they pass the pen holding the halla and just to the side of the closed gate is a shrine to Ghilan’nain; Mother of the Halla. They both stop running, turn to offer a subtle bow of acknowledgement to the shrine, a practice amongst the Dalish to show respect to their gods, and continue onwards to Tamara’s tent.
Tamara and Lana share their tent with two other women; Brilora a craftswomen, and Lawyn a huntress. Upon entering the tent, it seems both women are still busy with their daily chores.
The tent is large enough to be split into small equal quarters, and using a thin sheet of fabric between each section, you can also have some privacy. When you spend every living moment in such close proximity to a small group of people, one's privacy is vital and important to the sanity of the clan.
Tamara leads Lana in but it’s too dark to see, so Lana searches for the candle by Tamara’s bedroll. With the wave of her hand, Lana ignites the wick, filling the tent with enough illumination as they hunch over to Tamara’s bedroll lying on the far left corner of the tent.
Once both are sitting down with their legs crossed and comfortable, Tamara excitedly reveals her surprise, “Look what I traded with a dwarf today,” and turns around to pull something small out from underneath her pillow.
Resting on the palm of her hand is a small, wrapped parcel using a large leaf as it’s wrapping, and is being held together by a thin string.
Lana looks up from the object in Tamara’s hand in confusion, “What is it?”
Tamara giggles and with her eyes widened with excitement, “It’s for you, silly!” and hands it to Lana who cautiously takes the fragilely wrapped item.
“What? Really?”
“Yes, really! Open it! Open it!” Tamara wiggles around from side to side in anticipation and Lana finds her friend's excitement so contagious that she also begins to wiggle. Both young women are smiling widely and laughing loudly like two carefree children.
Lana carefully unties the bow and as the tension of the string releases, the leaves fall open, and in the centre lies an elegant ring made from silverite with a tiny purple amethyst adorned in the middle, and a small white diamond fixed on either side.
Lana gasps and dares not even to touch it in case she somehow breaks it and looks up at Tamara, who is holding her hands to her mouth while smiling proudly.
“Tamara…” is all Lana manages to say at first. “This is… for me?”
Ignoring her question and dropping her hands, “This dwarf came by and saw one of our ironbark blades but didn’t have enough coin to pay for it,” Lana slowly reaches for the ring and brings it towards her face for a closer inspection while Tamara continues. “I was expecting to barter with the man when suddenly he pulled out a small bag, opened it up, and showed me so many small jewels, like this one, within. Then he asked if I was willing to trade one of our blades for one of these jewels instead,”
Lana slips the ring on her right middle finger, fitting perfectly, “And so after rummaging around I came across this ring and I just had to make the trade!”
Lana brings her hand up towards her face, spreading her fingers as she admires the most beautiful piece of fine jewellery to ever sit upon her long, slender fingers.
The Keeper continuously reiterates to Lana that material items, such as jewellery, shouldn’t be held with so much esteem. Worldly things are fleeting and bring only temporary happiness. The true pursuit of happiness comes from giving to others and righteousness. However, this time it’s different and what Lana loves about the ring the most, is that it has been given to her by her dearest friend. A friend who has been nothing less than a sister to her ever since they were thirteen years of age.
Tamara was born in clan Yevven, who also wandered the Free Marches and was familiar enough with the Lavellan clan. Unfortunately, twelve years ago, a rogue Seerabas killed almost everyone in clan Yevven, including Tamara’s parents, and abducted their Keeper. The Seerabas was eventually killed for reasons still unknown to this day. No-one has ever managed to explain the reason for the attack on Tamara’s clan, and why it happened in the first place.
News had quickly spread amongst the other surrounding clans about clan Yevven’s mass murder. And when Keeper Deshanna and two other Keepers made their way to the site, they quickly realised that those who remained wouldn’t be able to survive on their own. Therefore, the only choice they had was to split them up and shelter the remaining Yevven clanmates in their own clans.
And the Keeper Deshanna, whose clan was already reasonably full in capacity, could only take on one; Tamara. Since then, Tamara carries the name of both tribes; Yevven and Lavellan.
“Do you like it?” murmured Tamara looking at Lana nervously.
Lana drops her hand and lunges forward to embrace her friend, “Tammy I love it! I am completely lost for words! Ma serannas.”
Lana sits back and admires the ring once more, “I’m surprised Jahel allowed you to trade one of our blades for it?” looking up with concern. “He does know? Doesn’t he?”
“There was a… discussion,” Tamara blushes and smiles sheepishly, “How could I not get you something on the day of your birth?”
Lana looks up and only offers a sincere smile.
Of course, she remembered.
Suddenly the Keeper pops her head into the tent, “We’re ready, Tamara.”
Lana spins around, but before she can ask the Keeper what she means, Tamara grabs Lana by the hand again, “Great! Let’s go!” and hurls Lana off the bedroll.
“Where?”
Tamara, still holding onto Lana’s hand, leads her friend through the other surrounding tents in the forest and out towards the centre of camp.
Tamara then drops Lana’s hand and runs further ahead to meet Lhoris and the entire clan, who are all standing in front of the main, roaring firepit, “Happy birthday!”
Lana’s jaw drops as only moments ago nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But now all the edges of the benches are decorated with wildflowers, freshly cooked food is layed out on tables and old Dalish music is playing somewhere close by, causing a few to start dancing to its hearty rhythm already.
“Creators…” murmurs Lana as she is completely floored by the effort put into celebrating her birthday. Her heart is beating so fast with so much love and affection for her people. Her family.
“I told them to keep it simple,” says the Keeper walking up to Lana from behind. “But you know Tamara,” and stops to stand beside Lana smiling proudly. “She had a thousand little ideas, she even wanted me to suspend hundreds of little flowers in the sky, but luckily Lhoris managed to convince her to keep it simple. After all, he couldn’t keep you distracted forever, now could he?”
“Distracted?” Lana turns to the Keeper confused. “What do you mean?”
The Keeper releases a quiet chuckle, “You aren’t the only one between us who can pick out his ridiculous childish laughter, da’len.”
“You knew he would be there?”
“Of course,” the Keeper pauses. “It was my idea.”
Lana gasps with pleasant surprise, “Your idea? I never knew you had it in you to be so sneaky, Keeper.”
The Keeper eyes Lana with a cheeky smile, “I was also young once. I still remember how to have a bit of fun now and then.”
Lana sees Tamara and Lhoris run over to her, and barks at Lhoris as he reaches ear-shot, “You were trying to distract me!”
Lhoris laughs, “Just figured it out, huh?” and rips into a piece of freshly cooked meat, shearing the skin off the bone. Chomping on it wildly with his infamous lack in table manners.
The Keeper sighs and peers up at Lhoris, “I’m glad to see you're enjoying yourself, Lhoris. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to discuss something with Hahren Zelphar,” and takes Lana’s chin in her hand and plants a gentle kiss on her cheek. “Happy birthday, mir da’vhenan.”
Lana smiles sincerely, “Ma serannas, Keeper.”

Hello! I loved your post about how you chose your dog breed and i had a question. When you say a dog is "sensitive" what do you mean by that?
Thanks, glad if it helped! Now once again, prepare to read a lot, bc I apparently can’t write anything concisely. It’s just rambles and explanations here. Sorry in advance..
(Note that my understanding and the expressions I use aren’t based on scientific research only. It’s coming from a combination of my own experience, observation, articles/research I’ve read and videos I’ve watched.)
When talking about dogs and sensitivity I understand sensitivity as the ability to detect small changes in attributes of stimuli and the quickness and intensity of the response to the detected change. So how quickly a dog notices a change and how quickly and how intensely it responds to it.
This means that a sensitive dog will be more observant and vigilant by default, they’ll notice smaller changes in their environment and respond to them, while a less sensitive dog might not even notice that change.
Not all dogs are equally sensitive to all types of stimuli ofc. They can be sensitive to visual and tactile cues, noises, smells, expression of emotion and behaviour etc.
For example, a Lab will most likely be very sensitive to smells, somewhat visually sensitive but not very noise sensitive. They’ve been bred to be like this! A hunting dog has to be able to tolerate gunshots and has to be able to find and sniff out the bird or whatever it’s supposed to search for. So as a comparison we can take Border Collies. They are usually more noise sensitive than hunting dogs, and it’s most likely because they were never intended to be around lound noises. If anything, they needed hearing to keep track of the sheep and their whereabouts. They also need to be more visually sensitive than Labs, to keep track of the sheep and notice if there’s something unusual going on (a sick sheep).
What I mostly mean by sensitivity when describing my own breed selection process is noise sesitivity and sensitivity for emotional and behavioural changes in humans and other dogs (which is basically a combination of visual, auditory and tactile stimuli if you simplify it a lot). I think that’s the thing that affects your day to day life with the dog the most.So this means that a sensitive dog will be more attentive to changes in your behaviour, body language and facial expressions and this can help them be very in tune with you! They’ll recognize your mood and respond to it very quickly. They might see you’re feeling down and respond by being more cuddly, for example. On the other hand, they might be more easily affected by anger and get scared of it and react or shut down. It might not even be negative emotion being expressed, that stresses them out, it might just be unpredictable behaviour. So that kind of dog might be more easily stressed by kids or someone who is kinda clumsy and makes a lot of noise.
Sensitivity also affects training. With less sensitive dogs, you can “get away with” more mistakes and they won’t be as affected by you being a clumsy trainer/sometimes asking a bit too much of them. More sensitive dogs, on the other hand, will probably pick up cues faster, bc they’re paying more attention to detail in general, but they’ll be less “forgiving” if they feel pressured or frustrated.
When I was getting Maisie, I lived in a house with my family, meaning 6 people + my bf visiting very often, I had 0 experience, and my brother was 11 years old. So by choosing a breed that’s not generally very sensitive, I saved us all a lot of stress. I always tried my best, but sometimes I just didn’t realize when I pushed Maisie too hard in training (meaning I trained smth for too long and she was getting frustrated, not like hurting her). Also most of my family members are pretty loud and clueless around dogs so I needed a puppy who likely wouldn’t be too stressed about that.
Now I no longer live with my noisy family members so that wouldn’t be a stress factor anymore. However, I live by a somewhat busy street, both me and my boyfriend can be kinda clumsy and will accidentally slam a door here and there, and Maisie can be a little obnoxious sometimes too, so we’re still not the best environment for very sensitive dogs. On the other hand our household is still very predictable and stable, there’s no children (or loud adults) around, and I personally would like a dog that’s a bit more attentive to detail because it can make training easier, so some sensitivity is completely fine!
I hope this clears it up! This is my personal understanding of sensitivity in dogs, so if anyone has any scientific data or anything useful and important to add, you’re very welcome to do so!

LEARNER DIVERSITY

Learner Diversity is the group and individual differences that we see in students. We are living in a society in which we are all learning from a diverse group of people. Every student comes from a different background and has a different way of thinking. Teachers today are faced with a lot of variations of diversity in schools. In order for a teacher to successfully reach the students, he/she must have the knowledge and understanding of issues with gender, ethnicity, culture, language, socioeconomic status, ability, religion and much more. These differences influence learning in the classroom.
Often there is a cultural mismatch in the classroom. This happens when a child's home culture and the culture of the school create conflicting expectations for a student's behavior. Expectations in the home can affect this difference. Some homes may include a high influence of achievement while others may be more resistant to the values of the classroom. Stereotyping can often create conflict in the classroom. If a particular culture is thought to be high or low achievers, then a student is left feeling like they have to fulfill that stereotype.
GENDER IN CLASSROOM
Gender can influence learning. We think that those of different gender act and think differently. Gender-role identity can create problems and limit the academic capabilities of students. Every attempt should be made to minimize the differences and stereotypes of gender in the classroom. The Gender section of this article will identify issues that are school related, differences in classroom behavior and stereotypes and perceptions in gender. It will also offer guidance in how to eliminate gender bias in the classroom.
According to a report by the Center for Teaching Excellence, by the end of the 1990s, women began outnumbering men at U.S. colleges. They earn the majority of both bachelor’s and master’s degrees today and have since the end of the last century. Despite this, there are still obstacles to female students that carry through the classroom—and can manifest themselves later in the workplace. The same Center for Teaching Excellence study cites several other studies that examine classrooms, ranging from kindergarten through graduate school, and how teachers relate to male and female students. The studies found the following:
Teachers are more likely to call on male students
Teachers give male students longer to formulate an answer
Teachers provide more eye contact to male students
Teachers remember the names of male students better
Teachers call on male students more often for questions that require “higher order” critical thinking
SEXUAL ORIENTATION

Sexual orientation issues often arise in schools. These include bullying or harassment against students (and sometimes school personnel) who are or are perceived as LGBTQ members; the high rates of absence, dropout, substance abuse, homelessness, and suicide among LGBTQ youth; controversy surrounding LGBTQ school events and student clubs; the right of school personnel to 'come out' or identify as LGBTQ in school; and other issues. In many jurisdictions, LGBTQ school personnel still lack legal or contractual employment benefits, rights and protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
In a school setting, LGBTQ youth are included when conditions enable them to fully express their identity and realize their full potential. They are encouraged and have real opportunities to express themselves, to develop leadership abilities, to take initiative, and to participate fully. LGBTQ youth and children with LGBTQ parents and family members feel acknowledged and accepted at school. They feel a sense of belonging and they see themselves and their family reflected in all activities, both educational and extracurricular. LGBTQ, youth and children and their LGBTQ parents and family members feel safe and fairly treated at school. They trust that their specific needs, experiences, and circumstances will always be seen as important and valid. They observe such equitable practices modeled by the interaction between the adults (parents and staff) in their school's community as well.
WHAT TEACHERS CAN DO

Teachers play an important role in helping students develop and show respect for sexual and gender diversity. Here are some things you can do to support your LGBTQ+ students, families and colleagues:
*Reflect on your practices and beliefs. Look at your own actions and behaviour. It may help to think about your personal values, beliefs and biases before talking about sexual and gender diversity with your students.
*Educate yourself and others. It’s important to educate yourself about sexual and gender diversity. Think about what you can do to challenge the norm that only heterosexual and cisgender identities are normal.
Be a role model and set a positive example for those around you. Don’t use anti-LGBTQ+ language and slurs. Don’t laugh at jokes that make fun of person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Use gender inclusive language and don’t make assumptions about a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
Create a positive environment. Use inclusive graphics, posters and images such as safe space materials. Make sure that documents, forms and processes are respectful and inclusive of diversity. If possible, provide gender-neutral bathrooms.
Be supportive. Be respectful, open and non-judgemental. Listen to people who ‘come out’ to or confide in you. Keep your conversations confidential—you never want to ‘out’ a person. If you make a mistake, say sorry.
Get support. Find resources and supports that may help students, colleagues and staff
Be an ally. An ally is a person who advocates for the human, civil and sexual rights of sexual and gender minorities. The above steps are all things you can do to be an ally for your LGBTQ+ students and colleagues. Remember, even the smallest actions can bring about changes.
