The people who abstained because of Palestine are the genocide fandom.

They're the genocide fandom because they would rather see the Palestinian genocide continue just as fodder for them to act morally superior on social media. If they actually cared about Palestine they would have made the logically smart vote. But they didn't. They're stupid and selfish and they just love that genocide like the media loves Trump.

Of course you don't. The entire idea of abstaining was that you could pretend this didn't involve you. Not getting blamed was more important to you than doing any kind of damage control, more important than protecting any of the people you said you wanted to protect. And in this moment, I don't really care what you want. Of course, this isn't entirely your fault. Of course other people made this worse. But if you're going to pretend you had nothing to do with this, forgive me if I ignore you.

Following an accident, Danny wakes up in Gotham City in a DC universe. Lacking any forms of ID or possessions beyond the clothes on his back, he’s forced to commit some crimes to survive. Minor crimes, but still.

And then he gets caught.

During the court proceedings, they come to the mistaken conclusion that he’s a Meta suffering from some psychiatric issues such as Cotard’s Syndrome (a real rare condition where a person holds the delusional belief that they’re dead/don’t exist/etc).

Thus, between his “need for mental treatment” and the concerns about housing someone with his unique physical traits, he is sentenced to spend time in Arkham Asylum. He’s under pretty low security aside from the anti-Meta stuff and has more freedoms than some other inmates, but it’s still not a great experience. Even at the best of times, Arkham is hardly a nice place.

Some of his fellow residents are decently chill all things considered, but lots very much aren’t.

God I’d wanna be an intellectual so bad, I know they probably all are having a terrible time but to know so much knowledge and to understand that much and it’s underlying ties to human existence and connection- like being that cultured in thought sounds incredible though I’m sure sometimes debilitating in its ways. To have a broad view of the world like that must bring much clarity on the worlds many disparities.

I will always be standing by my words that Eito is the reaping of what humanity has sown. His tragic existence morphing into weaponizing his fear and hatred is the consequence of society's actions long before he was even born. Since the primary reason he hates humanity is because of his acknowledgement of humans building their history upon violence and death, his beliefs cannot be shaken or swayed easily. He is the embodiment of cruel punishment that humanity is trying to run from after causing World Death. He is all of humanity's Pyramid Head.

It's absolutely upsetting that it has to be that way, but he was born into the role of a necessary evil when the Earth couldn't take care of the problem itself. It hurts so bad, but if it wasn't him, it was going to be somebody else taking up the mantle eventually. A shame it had to be someone who would've had so much genuine love in his heart if it weren't for that curse.

I would've loved what the louis grieve trio dynamic could have been if they decided to give us more relationship building and deeper character development an stuff. Or even just an au with more self indulgent plotting with them, especially given what we know now what happens later on.

Like Tim is a Drake- the fallen socialite family (who in Gotham always have some sort of skeletons in their closets) with the dead mom. Just randomly popping up at their school, no less– kids were obviously wondering what his deal is. He's laid back enough to approach, but also a subtle kind of cagey. An alluring blend of charismatic and closed-off that manifests itself as a mystery.

And next thing they know, he's getting all buddy-buddy with Bernard Dowd? The whacko who refuses to eat the cafeteria fish sandwiches because he thinks that 'theyre the offspring of the makara who resides in gotham harbour and he won't be complicit in the heinous crimes of consuming them when their mother inevitably comes to enact her revenge'?? Not to mention that he lives in some sorta haunted-looking house and has this space-case aura so who knows what the heck is going on with him.

And to add the cherry on top of this golden trio from hell, they look away for one second and here comes Darla Aquista??? Granted, Darla's chill– well liked and pretty normal. But she has her own security detail (uh?) and has a gaze just a little too sharp, her scowls a tad bit chilling. Darla is something that you look at, but never touch, because no one's sure if the rumours of her father being a mob boss are actually true and nobody wants to lose their heads over it (gotham, man ┐⁠(⁠ ⁠˘⁠_⁠˘⁠)⁠┌).

So just Tim, Bear, and Darla being seen as little weirdos, silly problem children, while simultaneously thinking that they're the only normal one in the group.

there's a bizarre comment i read as a kid i keep puzzling over years later. it wasn't on any of my stuff, no, it was before my era of posting - it was for a webcomic artist who had a really beautiful art style and was really popular. in my memory, the comment went something like this:

"you are clearly a very talented artist, but why are wasting all your time on drawing when you live in such a beautiful place like australia? put the pencil down and go live your life!"

if i am not misremembering, this was from a middle aged man (of course). it's possible he also had something in there implying that as an older, more experienced person he knows what matters most in life. just really the most condescending you can possibly be towards a young woman sharing her hard work for free with the internet.

obviously, the most fascinating aspect of this comment is the "you live in a beautiful place and it's your sworn duty to enjoy it to the fullest" aspect. wouldn't it be nice if we were all free to frolick in the fields instead of having to do anything else forever? i suspect this sentiment comes from a mix of jealousy and presumably americacentrism (or the UK/europe equivalent thereof if that's the case) - a feeling that someone gets to LIVE in a place that's on your travel wish list and they're WASTING IT. but... they live there. that's where their life is. they can't spend every second of it as a tourist. i also live in a certified Beautiful Place and like, i love that for me! i also love drawing. i have the time, you know? my life contains multitudes. i think there is a certain childishness to the thought that people living in Other Places are living some sort of Special Experience and not just, their daily life at home.

the other fascinating aspect is how artistic pursuit especially seems to be a waste of time. what about jobs? what about boring, unfulfilling work? plenty of people doing those in australia, too. i suspect some of this attitude is a bit of a generation thing, maybe specifically Middle Aged Man thing, to whom drawing seems like a frivolous girl hobby there's no need for, even though this artist was creating multiple comics that an audience across the globe was enjoying. the way people perceive artists has always been interesting to me - there's simultaneously a belief that Talent will get you really super rich, and a belief that art is Useless and won't and shouldn't get you anything - or maybe the belief is that only artists making "ugly modern art" get paid (too much) and that artists with "real talent" must suffer nobly through life on a pittance and only become appreciated after their death. people want to enjoy art but not respect people who have worked to develop their skill. obviously these are very generalised statements that are not representative of Everyone - they're just some attitudes i keep seeing on a grander scale, not necessarily from individuals.

anyway i don't know why i was reminded of that comment but i haven't stopped thinking about it
