I want to make whump films.
I'm considering forming a team of new filmmakers and actors from the whump community, to collaborate on mini series with survivor fiction/whump plotlines.
The goal would be to start bringing life to all of our whump stories that we never got to tell out loud. Eventually I would want us to be able to fund and produce high-quality episodic series on top of the existing content. Naturally there would be pain and angst all throughout each production.
So I'm wondering who would be interested in this.
*regular basis, meaning, creating a consistent stream of content with the goal of growing much bigger over time.
Bet I'm not the only one who would love to make this happen. I have more detailed ideas but I wanted to know if you guys are interested first.
Next update on this

I wasn't sure what show had gotten me into whump until I started rewatching The Vampire diaries, by god that show (and more specifically Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore) had preteen me foaming at the mouth FERAL for a dangerous bad boy like Damon.

*glances at svsss' vol 4 worth of extras, aka 'the whump and smut pile'* you haven't seen anything yet
You guys are seriously taking an axe to my self-control;;; I'm trying to make this series last longer than a single month!! I'm trying to savour things!!! I'm trying to read something else and give the series a bit of breathing room before I pick up the last book but I want the "whump and smut pile" I want that so much I feel like a dog that's getting a treat waved in front of its face .·´¯`(;´д`)´¯`·.

A Year in (Book) Review: My 2024 Reading Journey 📚
Tumblr media
#46 - The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
Fantasy / The Ascendance Series #1 / 352 pages / Published 2012 / Finished May 27 / Reread
One Sentence Review: I've read this book more times than I can count, and I love it just as much every time - Sage is the perfect narrator (sassy, secretive, and too clever for his own good), and the twists and turns throughout the book never fail to keep me on the edge of my seat (even though I know all the twists and turns by heart).
Favorite Quotes (possible spoilers)
"'You have a clever tongue and an arrogant tilt to your head. I'm surprised Mrs. Turbeldy hasn't beaten it out of you.'
'You mustn't blame her. She beat me the best she could.'"
*
"My father said a person can be educated and still stupid, and a wise man can have no education at all."
*
"If you can't give anyone pain, you can't give them joy either."
*
"'Have you come to kill me?' I asked. 'Because I'll scream when you do and it'll wake up the princess and probably a whole lot of other people, and you'll get into trouble.'
'You'll be dead.'
'Yes, but you'll be in trouble.'"
*
"You should always choose on the side of hope."
*
"'You won't kneel?'
'Would a prince?'
Connor raised his voice. 'You're not a prince until I say so.'
'I don't need you to say so, sir. As you see me standing here, I am the prince of Carthya.'"
*
"'Hail His Majesty, the scourge of my life,' Connor said to Roden and Tobias as he stomped up the stairs. 'I fear the devils no longer, because I have the worst of them right here in my home!'"

I have two, maybe three WIPs sitting in my googledocs that I'm pretty sure I will never get to finish. I liked the idea once, but then I got distracted by something else, and now I don't feel the motivation to continue.
I don't really like posting unfinished work, but then I feel bad it's just sitting there, forgotten and sad.

aw our apple blossom is getting paler :(( poor thing it just needs hugs and sugar water… - someone who has no idea how to take care of a dryad
lolol, they would probably benefit from some sugarwater! In the first image they're in shadow though, so fortunately for them, it's not too drastic a difference /lh (of course, this is subject to change if they aren't cared for properly 😏)

A question for my whump enthusiasts!
If you put yourself into a fantasy whumpy scenario, would you play the role of the
A. Whumper
B. Whumpee
?
I feel like I’d personally take the role of the Whumper, but there are a few things were I could see myself being the Whumpee.
How about y’all? Where do you see yourself? I’m genuinely curious!

A Year in (Book) Review: My 2024 Reading Journey 📚
Tumblr media
#72 - The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
Fantasy / The Heir Chronicles #1 / 436 pages / Published in 2006 / Finished Sep. 16 / Reread
One Sentence Review: A fascinating contemporary fantasy novel, this first book in The Heir Chronicles is full of action and intrigue from the first page, with a unique magic system and world building and a hearty plot twist, and it sets the stage for the rest of the series with a message about taking down corrupt systems from the inside.
Favorite Quotes
"The world will try to change you into someone else. Don't let them."
*
"Those who come to power through the system are unlikely to change it."
*
"More and more, there were no revelations, but simply the uncovering of truths long known but dimly remembered. Everything had been written long ago. There was nothing truly new in the world, but only the slow, circular march of time that revealed the old things once again."
*
"Remember me, but you'll never find happiness if you live in the past."
*
"They fought because they loved the dance, and the weight of the sword in their hands. The clash and spark of metal and the hiss of flame was like music written just for them."

Okay since the post about death in whump is going around quite a lot and I'm seeing different statements in the comments, I am curious as to how the percentages balance out
For me personally, definition wise, the aftermath of a whump scene is not relevant to the whump part (the injury, or getting sick) before it. That's because I define whump as solely the hurt part in hurt/comfort. Even though I pretty much only consume whump content with a good ending, and vastly prefer it
I know that there's absolutely something to be said about how death of a character can be whump material for someone else, but in this case I'm just solely talking about the character the scene is about.
This poll also assumes that whatever happens before the death is an injury or illness of some kind, and the scene is not solely character dying.
Share around for a bigger reach!
