i’m begging please make the flayed robin a fic it would be so good
Hii anon I'd love to!! However I am unable to write fanfic in this moment of my life. Ever since 2022 my life can only be summarized in college stuff, college stuff, a little bit of work and more college stuff. I am falling behind on my reading schedule as we speak lol 🙃 i expect to be free to write some time after... 2028, maybe (big maybe). I CAN draw though, which is not such a long-term compromise. Maybe I'll manage to draw something one of these days.
For the time being I would like to redirect you to two GREAT flayed!Robin fanfics that I adore, the devil's after both of us by @eskawrites and We're Going to End You by UnholyHelbig. Both featuring ronance. These are the only ones I know. Sadly, looking up "flayed Robin" on ao3 hasn't turned out to be a very fruitful search, but that doesn't mean there aren't more out there! I'll have to keep searching. If anyone reading this knows of more flayed!Robin fanfics please lmk!! Of course there's also @snowangeldotmp3 's rebel robin: surviving the upside down AU, which I'm still trying to catch up with, but it sounds like they're working on some cool flayed!Robin stuff!
While I can't give you a fanfic I CAN share with you some flayed!Robin ideas I have:
Vecna/the Mind Flayer is incredibly subtle this time, choosing to corrupt Robin rather than completely taking over her body and replacing her. He preys on her darkest thoughts, which are generally, jealousy, resentment, shame, self-deprecation hopelessness and loneliness. They both open the door for him, and act as weapons he uses to slowly torture her and turn her against her loved ones.
It begins with Robin feeling irritable, out of place, especially with Steve. Steve suddenly stops feeling like home and more like someone she shares a loving bond with but who can never really understand her, because he's a heterosexual man, because he has money, because he's high on the social pyramid and she spent her whole teenage years fighting to not fall to the bottom, because he can allow himself liberties not permitted to her. She begins to resent him. When she begins to isolate herself from him, it becomes incredibly easy for Vecna to make her spiral further and further down.
Almost nothing Robin says while possessed is 100% untrue. It tends to come from something she really feels. In normal circumstances, Robin would feel a bit sad knowing Steve can never fully understand her experience. Flayed!Robin resents him over it and wants to hurt him. But the pain is there. There ARE exceptions though, and they're interesting because the others are so used to hearing her say evil half-truths that when she says something so horriffic the real Robin couldn't possibly believe it, they think she means it deep down.
Flayed!Robin isn't physically violent - another reflection of the real Robin's nature. He uses her silver tongue to attack the others.
There's a lot of confusion from the rest of the group, even once they figure out she IS possesed, because its like she keeps coming back before being pulled under again. One moment she's acting normal and the next she's telling Nancy she always ruins everything. It's hard to tell what is true and what is a lie
Flayed!Robin targets Nancy specifically, not because it's particularly useful to Vecna - I mean, it is, but there's more to that - it comes from Robin's shameful love for Nancy, the source of so much pain. Flayed!Robin takes her anger out on her.
Flayed!Robin particularly enjoys making Nancy cry. Her favorite method is reminding her of Barb, blaming her for everything that goes wrong and telling her everyone would be better of if she were dead. Otherwise, she'll get them all killed until she's the last one standing. At the beginning though, she's just mean. She acts irritable and angry and rolls her eyes at her and doesn't take her seriously and casually insults her intelligence. She does it sparingly enough that Nancy actually wonders if she heard that right, if Robin is being serious, if it's just an instance of her "not understanding social cues" or if she really thinks she's "losing her spark" or "keeps talking nonsense lately", or whatever Vecna makes her say. This is one of the cases in which Robin doesn't mean what she says in the slightest.
Another way in which flayed Robin likes to taunt Nancy is by publicly accusing her of homosexuality. Everyone awkwardly ignores that most of the time (though sometimes Hopper sideyes her, Joyce closes her eyes and inhales deeply, and Mike snaps and loudly declares his sister isn't gay), and they ignore Nancy's sharp breath and tight fists when Robin says anything on the matter ("Aaw, Wheeler, are you in love with me? You know, I did take you for a queer but I didn't think you'd be after me. Thought you were still hung up on that Barb girl").
At the beginning of Robin's possesion, Nancy was incredibly kind to her, saying sweet, loving things to her even if unsure if she could hear her or not. She promised she would take care of her and that she'll be okay. Robin would usually roll her eyes and tell her, voice full of scorn, that if Nanch Wheeler is promising to "take care of her" then her odds aren't very promising. It hurts Nancy so much to hear that. She thinks there's a little bit of the real Robin behind those words.
Nancy becomes exhausted after some time. Exhausted and angry. She convinces herself it's only Vecna in there, and she refuses to offer him any kindness. He will pay for what he did to the girl she loved.
When they get her and tie her up so they can think of a plan, they leave her alone for a moment, and for the first time, Vecna retreats entirely, to let her fully feel the bite of ropes around her wrists, keeping her immobilized, tied to the chair. He wants her to fully feel the terror of her trauma without any numbing effect. Bonus points if she's not fully alone - Nancy is keeping watch, and Robin is scared and confused as to why she looks at her with such cold eyes, why she won't help her, why she won't comfort her when she sees her panicking and crying and begging. It's the worst torture so far, and when Nancy steps forward, and looks at her with so much hate, and says "Shut. Up", Robin feels her heart break all over again (Nancy had told her she loved her once and she never knew what she meant by that. She supposes the love is gone now). She has no idea Vecna has played with Nancy in this way a million times before.
Whenever they drug her to keep her unconcious, Nancy gives her as much physical affection as she can - stroking her cheek, brushing her hair, cuddling her. She wonders if, in this way, Robin will feel something Vecna doesn't.
When she comes back, Robin remembers everything she said while possessed and won't stop apologizing, refusing any comfort Nancy tries to offer her because she thinks she doesn't deserve it, but Nancy won't hear any of that. She stays by Robin's side no matter what, even if it means skipping school or not sleeping. The girl she loves is back and she's not wasting a single second more away from her.

some random things about the werewolf au in case people are curious 🥺
in no particular order...
max, billy, susan, neil, and max's dad/billy's mom are all born werewolves. as some people already guessed in their tags, born wolves are much better at controlling their transformations and keeping their emotions in check than people who are turned later in life, which is why steve is experiencing a lot of power incontinence.
more experienced wolves can control the level of their transformations as well. so they can either be slightly transformed, like eyes, teeth, claws-- basically just the teen wolf transformation-- or full on furry, where they're the classic wolf-headed, anthropomorphic monster movie werewolf. they're not fully animalistic in this form but are close enough to comfortably run on all fours/switch from a bipedal to a quadruped gait. steve will get to the point where he can fully control his transformations eventually.
max --and susan's to a lesser extent--wolf forms resemble the extremely endangered red wolf. max has no idea, but there's a blurry photo of her on the local nature conservancy's billboard all 'RED WOLF SPOTTED IN HAWKINS?? how can we protect and preserve this rare specimen'. she is WOLF famous.
billy was a total creep and pretty skeevy about trying to get steve into bed with him, so he maaaay have used a tried and true werewolf aphrodisiac to grease the wheels. that, combined with the fact that billy did some love 'em and leave 'em shit which gave steve a taste of his own medicine cough cough is why steve is so pissed off at him and confused about his feelings-- and that's all before he starts growing hair in weirder places than usual
because steve is now his responsibility (and also because max didn't want to do it) billy is in charge of showing steve the werewolf ropes. and even though he's negging steve the whole time and being a fucking dickhead about it, he's a pretty good teacher and wins steve over bit by bit, which is how they begin to actually bond.
billy and steve are kind of an item by the resolution of season 2. things play out basically the same, minus their fistfight, with billy accompanying steve on most of the demodog related misadventures. although billy should and probably does get the shit beaten out of him a few times because the little bastard still has to unlearn all that bigotry neil taught him.
due to being with steve and not going to 'teach' karen, billy does not crash his car and get possessed by the mindflayer in season 3, and in fact, werewolves are perhaps not immune but at least more resistant to getting flayed due to their extreme healing factor. however, there are a few close calls. billy still stands up to the mindflayer in the climax and ALMOST dies but thanks to said super healing he's mostly just confined to bed for a week while an annoyed steve has to nurse him back to health.
robin's coming out scene goes a little differently, too. steve gets to have a little addendum where he's like 'so, uh. about that.' and proceeds to blow robin's mind. oh and he also tells her he's a werewolf. which is easier to prove but unfortunately makes her faint.
billy has a much better and closer relationship with susan in this AU. seeing him almost murder her ex to defend her daughter influenced her to basically say, 'fuck it, he's my kid now' while simultaneously not being afraid to stand up to him anymore because the cat's out of the bag-- she knows he cares about max and her deeply even if he does a shit job of showing it. he's also a little more accepting of her step mothering/has lowered his walls around her because he recognizes she's the one who finally got him the hell away from neil. so she's a bigger, more positive presence in his life, curbing his shittier behavior and helping his character development along. however, she's still got some outdated views on gender roles AND werewolf stuff, much to max's chagrin. also she's the one coming around steve's house all the time to drag billy away and force him to attend to his duties as pack leader.

@alecmores my lovely friend🌟
series masterlist / steve harrington
previous chapter next chapter
You were sure your voice was gonna give out with the volume of your screams. The room that was now confirmed to be an elevator was moving at such a fast speed that you worried you’d hit the ceiling when it reached the bottom.
“Steve!” Calling for your boyfriend with tears flooding your eyes.
This is why you didn’t want to do this. Why you shouldn’t have gotten involved and just called the government. Now you have two children with you in a dangerous environment not knowing what was on the other side. Stupid fucking Russians had to ruin your night cause of their stupid system.
“Shit! Shit!” “We’re going down! We’re going down!” Steve and Dustin shouted over the noise. And you're pretty sure you’re just sobbing through the screams at this point. Robin shouted to Steve, “Yeah, no shit, Harrington!”
Dustin was smashing his hands into the buttons, but nothing was helping. “Why don’t these buttons work?!” Erica ran to his side, the two of them pressing the same buttons and yelling at each other.
Your fingers were curled tight around a metal table as you hyperventilate. Everything and everyone was just making your panic worse and you feared passing out. The elevator hit the ground hard and everyone lost their foot, falling to the floor with boxes following. Your head hit the bottom of the table and you winced in pain.
You could hear Steve groan, “Oh! My groin. It fell on my groin.” Then he called for Dustin to move a box.
You heard shuffling and Robin asking if everyone was okay, but you could only hear your loud breathing and feel the fast beating of your heart. Palms hit the metal floor as you panted and silently cried, messy hair hiding your face in a curtain.
“(Y/n)? Hey, baby…” The voices sounded as if they were underwater. Garbled and unclear, barely able to understand it’s Steve just from the pet name. A hand falls to your back, trying to use repetitive motions as a way to calm you down.
“Baby, it’s Steve. Dustin, Erica, and Robin are with us. Everyone is okay. We’re safe.” He spoke low and close to your ear.
“We don’t know if-“ “Shut it, Henderson!”
Your hearing got clearer and your breathing slowly evened out, body slightly shook as you managed to push yourself off the floor and shrug Steve’s hands away. Fingernails curled into your palm as you glared at Steve. His eyes were droopy and sad, arms limp at his side, but you needed to get this out.
“We are not safe, Steve. Not even close. We are in a Russian elevator that no one besides us knows about, so they wouldn’t know where to look. We have two underage children in our care to keep safe, which, they or we shouldn’t even be here in the first place! I have said, we should just take this to the authorities! That’s their job! We work in a fucking ice cream shop making five bucks an hour! But you and Dustin, along with Robin, wanted to be nosy American heroes, and Erica just took this as a reason to get free ice cream.” Arms flailing and voice cracking. “I should be home watching Jeopardy on the couch with you or Will. I haven’t heard from Jonathan or my mom all day, who knows if Will's home alone when he shouldn’t be since the last time that happened, he got sucked into the fucking Upside Down!”
You pound your fist into the walls, hurling more words under your breath. You ignored the sting to your wrist as you kept banging and banging, eyes blurry and voice straining. You only stopped when arms wrapped you from behind, they pinned your biceps down and dragged you away from the wall. You struggled against their hold until you gave up, not fighting just letting your emotions get the better of you.
“I can’t- I can’t do this again. I just can’t.” Legs turn to jelly as you let gravity drag you back to the floor. You just wanted to curl into a ball and sleep into a coma.
Steve, you knew it was him holding you, he fell with you. Your back was pulled to his chest as he shushed you, trying to calm you like a baby. His hand pushed your head towards his neck and you shifted so you leaned on your side, starchy uniform wrinkling in your grip. “I can’t keep… doing this.”
Steve took a deep breath, “I know, baby. I know. We just gotta stick together and we’ll be safe.” He pressed his face into your hair, his eyes closing as he hugged you tighter. He never wants to see you break like this, and he’ll do everything to keep you from cracking further.
“Uh… just so you nerds are aware, I’m supposed to be spending the night at Tina’s. And Tina always covers for me. But if I’m not home for Uncle Jack’s party tomorrow and my mom finds out you four are responsible, she’s gonna hunt you down, one by one, and slit your throat.”
“I don’t care about Tina!” Steve yelled as he moved his hands over your ears. With his mouth close they barely muffled his screaming at Erica. “Or Uncle Jack’s party! Your moms not gonna be able to find us if we’re dead in a Russian elevator!”
Your ears were uncovered and took in the silence that followed so much yelling. Dustin and Robin are the only two just watching and standing back. Steve kept your head pushed to his neck, his chin digging into your scalp as his palm rubbed your bicep up and down.
“Hey,” You turned to Dustin. His voice was low and even as he addressed the room. “Why don’t we just climb our way out?” Pointed upward to a square cut into the ceiling.
Steve pulled the both of you off the floor and kissed your salty cheeks. He squatted so Dustin could climb onto his shoulder and push the hatch open. With help from Steve, Dustin was pushed up and then Steve used a table for leverage.
You, Robin, and Erica just looked up and waited for anything. Your arms wrapped around your stomach, pretending it was Steve grounding you.
“Steve!” Robin yelled, “What’s it look like? Can we climb?”
There was thumping and then Dustin’s head popped in with a strained smile. “Uh…”
“Uh, what? Can we climb?” Erica demanded.
“No. We can’t climb, we’re too far down.” Dustin groaned.
You dropped your head. “Son of a bitch,” mumbled under your breath. Steve climbed back in and sighed as he leaned against the wall.
-
“Code red. I repeat, code red. Does anyone copy?”
You could hear Dustin’s voice bouncing off the thick walls from above. He asked for his walkie and said he was gonna try to get some help. He’s been repeating code red for about five minutes now.
“We are innocent children and we are trapped under Starcourt Mall. The Red Army has infiltrated Hawkins, and if we are found they will torture and kill us.” That was a new one. And if anyone heard that, they would probably think it was a dumb prank.
Steve climbed atop a table and poked his head through the hole. “Hey!” He called to Dustin, “Gotta take it easy on that thing. Gonna drain the battery.”
Dustin’s voice was muffled and you could only hear Steve’s reply, “What do you think, Petey the mall cop is gonna rappel down here and save the day?” He shimmied up back to the roof.
You, having nothing to do and wanting to distract yourself, you started stacking and organizing the boxes. Lend a helping hand to the Russians, cause why not? Robin tried pushing different buttons to get the door open or the elevator working again hopefully. And Erica was off to the side sitting down, messing with the container Robin stuffed in her bag.
Then there was a sound and a smell, your nose wrinkling. You heard Robin scuff followed by, “Can you redirect your stream, please?” You looked at the wall and you groaned.
Loud banging filled the silence and you promptly spun to see Erica hitting the green liquid against metal tubs. You rushed to her side and yanked the unknown substance from her tiny hands. “Hey, hey! Be careful, careful, careful! We don’t even know what this is.”
She rolled her eyes, “Exactly. It could be useful.” Robin walked over, “Useful how?”
Erica started a little rant. “We could survive down here a long time without food, but if the human body doesn’t get water it will die.”
“I know that, little miss know-it-all. But I hate to break it to you, but this is not water. Not even close.” Your attitude is starting to match Erica’s.
She shrugged, “No, but it’s a liquid. And if it comes down to me drinking that shit or dying of thirst, I drink.”
You heard Robin scuff and then a distant noise. An electronic whirring. Robin walked to the door and Erica yanked the liquid back when you were distracted. The both of you watched as Robin set her ear to the door and then pushed away to the tables. She climbed up and motioned with her hands to follow.
“We’ve got company.”
Robin went up first and then you made Erica go next, helping her small frame reach the hatch for someone to grab her. You can hear the noise getting closer. You stood on your tiptoes to get as close to the top, fingers stretched to the point of cracking. You weren’t good at pull-ups so you know this is gonna be a difficult task. Luckily, Steve came forward and grabbed your arms tight, and helped pull you upward. You fell into his arms as Dustin closed the lid, and now was the waiting game.
The elevator thudded then stopped meaning it was opened and then you heard two Russian men speaking, their feet shuffling back and forth a few times. Steve looked down into the opening allowing light, you should see the shadows moving. Everyone was tense, keeping as still as possible to not give away the position. Steve held a finger to his lips then he tilted his head slightly in the direction of Erica, who was holding her container of liquid goo.
Steve curled his fingers in a ‘give me’ motion and she slowly handed it off. The two men walked out of the room and now you just waited until they drove away. That whirring noise grew distant and it was followed by the heavy door falling.
Steve yanked the hatch open and climbed down, the door getting closer to sealing back up. He slid on the ground and with the bottom vertical he jammed it open. “Let’s go,” you usher Erica down first. Her backpack was thrown to Steve and pushed through the door.
She crawled on the floor with Steve’s “Go, go, go,” And her “I’m going.” in response.
Dustin dropped second. “Henderson. Go, go.” Steve gave him a push. You urged Robin next, her legs in the air before you pushed them down. You didn’t bother to argue with Steve about who was next since he would insist on you. You shuffled under with Dustin and Robin yanking you out of the way so Steve could hurry as the glass was breaking.
You grabbed his uniform and tugged at him, Robin helping with her grunts of, “Come on, Steve, let’s go!” He rolled his body into yours and both of you watched as the glass gave out and the green goo sizzled the floor and door.
You sighed as you hugged Steve tight and he did as well. You heard Robin ask, “Still wanna drink that?” And you knew it was at Erica. Despite the moment, you couldn’t stop yourself from planting kisses on the side of Steve’s face, your body went through slight shudders of panic. “You’re okay, you’re okay.” Whispered into his hot skin.
He pushed himself off your body and held his hands out to help you from the floor. His eyes zigzagged everywhere, “Not hurt or anything?” You confirmed your intact state and he pressed a lingering kiss to your forehead.
“Holy mother of God.” Dustin’s voice broke the silence. You and Steve broke apart and everyone turned to see what stunned Dustin Henderson. A giant tunnel is what. “Well…hope you guys are in good shape.” He took your hand and pulled you with him as he tapped Dustin on the chest, “Looking at you, roast beef.”
-
You weren’t sure how long you’d been walking. Could’ve been fifteen minutes or a full hour already. It just went on and on forever, the fluorescent lighting hurting your eyes and causing your headache to worsen. Steve kept your hands intertwined, something bringing your knuckles to his lips and leaving reassuring kisses on our cracked skin.
“I mean, you have to admit, as a feat of engineering alone, this is impressive.” Dustin with his wandering gaze and scientific mind. Steve countered Dustin’s remark, “What are you talking about? It’s a total fire hazard. There are no stairs, there’s no exit, there’s just an elevator that drops you halfway to hell.”
And you agreed with him in your head, ears tingling at the deep sound of Steve’s voice bouncing off the walls and almost wrapping you in a warm blanket. Messily as you walked you landed a kiss on his clothed shoulder, just wishing to take a moment and hug him like a bear.
Erica’s high-pitched voice spoke, “They’re Commies. You don’t pay people, they cut corners.” You genuinely wonder if she’s learning this from school or something she does as a hobby.
“To be fair to our Russian comrades, I don’t think this tunnel was designed for walking,” Robin mentioned. “Think about it, they developed the perfect system for transporting cargo.” And she was right about that.
“It all comes into the mall like any old delivery.” “And then they load it up onto those trucks and nobody’s the wiser.” Dustin and Robin finished each other’s sentences.
“Wait… so you think they built this whole mall so they could transport that green poison?” You leaned forward a bit to see everyone’s thinking faces. Dustin twisted his mouth, “I seriously doubt it’s something as boring as poison. It’s gotta be much more valuable, like promethium or something.”
“What the hell is Promethium?” Steve blurted.
“It’s what Victor Stone’s dad used to make Cyborg’s bionic and cybernetic components.” Robin casually mentioned. You couldn’t help the gasp that followed, “You read comics? Robin, why am I just now hearing about this?” She just shrugged, but you saw her hidden smile.
“You’re all so nerdy, it makes me physically ill.” Erica had to ruin the moment.
Steve was quick to come to his defense, “No, no, no. No, don’t lump me in with them. I’m not a nerd, all right?” The simple comment made you slip your hand from his out of pettiness. Steve whipped his head towards you and tried to grab it back, but you just crossed your arms and kept walking.
You heard light chuckles from the others. “Why so sensitive, Harrington? Afraid of losing cool points to a ten-year-old child?” Robin’s snarky comment was followed by Dustin’s, “With you dating (Y/n), you’re a nerd by association. She’s got a good knowledge of comics and Star Wars.”
“I know that. I’m just saying I don’t know jack shit about Prometheus.” You dropped your arms and you felt Steve’s hitting yours twice before you took the innovation of holding hands again. “Promethium.” Dustin fixed Steve’s miss pronunciation. “Prometheus is a Greek mythological figure, but whatever. All I’m saying is, it’s probably being used to make something.”
“Or power something.” You quickly throw it out there. “Like a nuclear weapon?” Dustin asked. You shrugged even if he couldn’t see, “Totally, they are Russia and they usually are up to something sketchy.”
“Walking towards a nuclear weapon. That’s great. That’d be great.” Steve used his sarcasm as his defense. He squeezed your hand three times.
“But if they’re building something, why here?” Robin pointed out, “I mean, Hawkins. Seriously. Of all places. At the very best, we’re a toilet stop on your way to Disneyland, but maybe that’s it. Maybe it’s our very…” She trailed off as she and Erica continued forward. At the same time, Steve pulled the both of you to a stop with Dustin.
“You think the Russians know?” Steve turned to Dustin. “About-” Dustin didn’t need to finish, the three of you knew what he was gonna say. “They could,” Steve pointed out. “So it’s connected?” You asked while huddling closer to the boys.
Dustin shook his head, “Maybe.” “How?” You were confused about how a government on the other side of the world could know about your shit town and its supernatural connection.
“I don’t know, but it’s…” “Possible.” The three of you whispered. Your headache was worsening by the second.
“I’m sorry,” You looked up and saw Robin and Erica further up the tunnel and turned around, “Is there something you’d like to share with the class? (Y/n)?” You could only open and close your mouth, nothing coming out.
The sound of static hissing followed by a man’s voice speaking what sounds to be Russian drew everyone’s attention. Erica dropped her backpack and pulled the walkie out as you all huddled on the ground. Robin pulled the antenna out and listened to the voice. She then translated what was being relaid.
“A trip to China sounds nice. If you tread lightly. It’s the code.”
Dustin pointed at the walkie in her hands, “Wherever that broadcast is coming from-” “It’s close. And if there’s one thing we know about that signal…”
“It can reach the surface.” You finished with an air of hopefulness. Robin looked up with a smile then to your group, “Let’s go,” and you continued your walking.
-
You walked for what you assumed to be about thirty minutes before voices and loud noises got closer. Steve pulled your group into a corner behind a giant metal container and waited for the coast to be clear of any workers passing by. He peeked his head out and when he assessed the scene he moved forward and pulled you with him, “Clear, come on, Let’s go.” And everyone stuck close together.
“Okay, that was close.” “Too close.”
“Relax,” Steve stopped Robin and Dustin’s complaining, “Relax, no one saw…” His steps came to a halt and your jaw was metaphorically on the ground.
The room in front of you was filled with workers. Scientists, guards, drivers, and some people you can’t identify are dressed in red full-body suits. A female voice was speaking Russian on the intercom and you forgot you were in the open until you were almost spotted by an armed guard.
“Shit!” You yanked Steve with you to hide behind a red box, everyone tucked behind. “Jesus!” Steve muttered.
“Red Dawn.” Dustin referring to a movie that came out last year.
“I saw it.” And you just thought Erica meant the movie until she followed up with, "First floor, northwest.”
“Saw what?” Steve asked. “The comms room.” She sounded exasperated.
Steve scrunched his brows, “You saw the comms room? From here?” She nodded.
“Are you sure?” You couldn’t help questioning. You wouldn’t be able to tell which room was which. “Positive. The door was open for a second, and I saw a bunch of lights and machines and shit in there.”
“That could be a hundred different things,” Dustin argued. You looked in the direction Erica said and squinted your eyes to see anything, you only saw a closed door and faint movement through the slender window.
“I’ll take those odds.” Robin firmly stated. You couldn’t help the sigh as you closed your eyes. This was crazy, this was crazy, this was crazy. “This is crazy.” A slip of your tongue.
“Well, would you rather be stuck out here or trying to get help?” Erica sassed. And you knew she was right, you still didn’t like the slim odds against the five of you.
“All right.” Steve whispered as he laid out the plan, “We’re going to move fast, we’re going to stay low. Okay?”
Steve went first then you followed, copying his actions and following his rules. One by one, like ducks in a row. You moved then stopped, and waited for people to pass before moving again to the nearest hiding spot. Just one more stop before the door you held your breath, not wanting to make a single sound before reaching safety. Eyes on the door and watching as a man in a lab coat leaves the room, door wide open and swinging closed.
“Let’s go.” Steve moved forward and caught the door just before it closed. He ushered everyone in before him. His back was to the room so it took him a second longer to realize that it wasn’t empty, a Russian guard was at the controls.
You pulled the kids behind you, arms out to the sides to block them. The guard just stared at everyone then moved his right hand towards his hip, his gun. You stiffened with your eyes widening. Robin moved forward and started shouting in Russian.
“Tread lightly! Tread lightly!” The man was confused, replying, but you didn’t understand him and Robin wasn’t planning on translating. “Silver cat… Silver cat.” She waved a hand behind her.
Everyone was tense. Eyes move everywhere from person to person or looking for something within the room as a weapon. You didn’t try to look at Steve, worried that might cause a bad reaction.
The guard shook his head, speaking more words that went in one ear and out the other. Robin turned to you with a worried look then back. She took another step closer, “China?” The man just scoffs and grabs his gun.
Steve’s yells fill the small room. He charges forward and shoves the man into the control counsel. With numb fingers, you tug Robin at the back of her shirt and closer to you. Your eyes watch as the man throws Steve off him and into a table and he groans from the impact. He throws a swing and Steve leaned back and avoids getting punched in the cheek, but he’s grabbed by his shirt and thrown into another table face first.
“Steve!” Your voice coming back to you. The guard grips the back of the Scoop's shirt, but Steve elbows him in the stomach. The guard stumbles away, allowing Steve to grab the walkie from the main counsel and throw it hand to hand before smacking the Russian in the face. He hits a table and then lands on the floor with a loud thud.
You stare at the unconscious man before your eyes travel to Steve, who’s panting and running a hand through the front of his hair. Body moving on auto-pilot, your feet carry you towards Steve. Hands are shaky as they hold his biceps while you look over his face, warm brown eyes dart back and forth. You feel rather than see, Steve’s fingers curling into your belt loops and tugging you closer.
“Dude!” Dustin’s loud voice caused Steve to look his way, “You did it! You won a fight!” Steve looked to the floor and you saw the faint smile pulling his lips, “Jeez…”
“Please don’t do that again,” You couldn’t help the whisper. Steve’s brows furrowed at your words, “Well if I didn’t…” You stopped him with your hands on his cheeks, “No, I- I know. I just… I don’t want you getting hurt.” Thumb swiping over the apple of his cheek. His eyes and body melted just a touch, but now wasn’t the time to let his guard down. He only kissed your forehead and a reassuring smile before focusing back on the task at hand.
“You want to walk all the way back?” Erica’s loud shout made you step away from Steve reluctantly.
She and Dustin held a stand-off. “Well, we can hang out for a little bit, relax, have a picnic maybe.” And you can hear where Steve’s developing more of his sarcasm. Erica countered, “Have a picnic? We came here for a radio.”
“This plan is way better. If I knew Steve could knock out a Russian, that would’ve been our plan in the first place.”
“Steve is not fighting anymore Russians.” You stopped Dustin from potentially putting Steve in any harm. He just rolled his eyes and Erica scoffed, you were getting so tired of these kids and their growing attitude.
“Look I’m just saying-” “Guys.”
Robin’s voice stopped whatever Dustin was gonna say. She stood in a doorway that led to some stairs going up. “There’s something up there.” Pointing a finger over her shoulder.
You were the last one up the stairs and through the door. Steve closed it slowly and quietly behind you and when you turned to the room, you felt your blood run cold.
Slow, timid steps guided you to the glass openings in the wall. You leaned in, nose almost tapping the window as your glued eyes took in the sight before you. Steve stood behind you, his back pressed close and his face over your shoulder, while Dustin was on your left.
“Holy shit.” And holy shit was right.
A room of white button-ups and lab coats, people moving about or messing with buttons and dials. A glowing white light caused your eyes to squint, its noises were faint, but the walls rumbled with power. Whatever these Russians were doing, they were powering up a giant device that was pointed at the wall. It was causing a riff to open slowly, red and orange, and without having seen it before you know where this leads.
“The Upside Down,” was all you could whisper.

content tags: flayed!Billy, mentions of Billy & Amber's abuse, mentions of El being choked, Amber gets a concussion — not proofread + i have dyslexia so please forgive any typos!
"Jesus fucking Christ, Billy—" Amber wailed as the Camaro came to an abrupt stop in front of Starcourt. "Are you trying to kill me?!"
As Billy gazed at his sister, his stare almost frightened her. It was blank, almost animalistic.
He could.
He could've brought her to Brimborn Steel Works. He could've dragged her into this hell he was in with him.
But something stopped him.
This memory lingered in the back of his mind. They were little, curled up in the bedroom they shared many years ago in California, before their mom left. Neil was in one of his rages, Billy had his arms wrapped around Amber while she sobbed and covered her ears.
"Get the hell out of the car," He grumbled.
Amber rolled her eyes, stepping out. "Don't worry about picking me up. Steve's giving me a lift."
Without an answer, Billy sped off the second Amber grabbed her purse and shut the door. God, she didn't know what was up his ass this morning.
As she headed into the barely open mall and towards Scoops Ahoy, she couldn't help remembering what she felt last night. Something felt wrong, something in her brother felt wrong— but for now, she was gonna choose to ignore it.
Or, at least she tried.
She was distracted all day. Even when Steve tried to get her to fool around a little in the back when Robin wasn't paying attention.
"Have you seen my brother lately?" Amber asked Steve, who stopped kissing her neck.
"What?" He asked. "We're making out, and you wanna talk about your brother?"
"Steve, I'm serious," She sighed. "Have you seen him?"
"Not really, no. Wanted the lifeguard job at the pool but apparently being former swim team captain isn't good enough credentials," Steve grumbled bitterly. "Your brother is such a douchebag. Can't believe you guys are twins."
Amber sighed again, shaking her head. "Something felt off when he drove me to work... he left for a date last night and... he's not the same..."
"Maybe he just got stood up? Girls do that, yknow," He muttered.
Maybe he was right. Maybe Billy had just gotten stood up last night and that was the issue...
Right?
It bothered Amber all night. She could barely sleep a wink. Something about that look in Billy's eye, it just felt so wrong...
So, when Max and El came to her on a mission to see if the mind flayer had possessed Billy like he had Will less than a year ago, she agreed without hesitation. It was her day off, Scoops would manage just fine without her.
She took the two girls to the pool, where they met up with Mike, Lucas, and Will.
As dusk fell and the pool closed, the plan was set in motion. She and Max were both silently begging that it wasn't Billy— but seeing him sitting atop his lifeguard chair, covering up, wearing a hat? Something was definitely wrong.
The pitiful sight that was before them was breaking Amber's heart. Her brother curled up in the sauna, insisting someone else was in control and begging to be let out. Then Mike shouted for them to get away from the door.
Amber grabbed Max and pulled her away as Billy broke the window. He was enraged, she couldn't tell if it was him or the mind flayer.
"Billy, stop it!" Amber yelled as he desperately tried to claw at his sisters. The door flew open with Billy's newfound brute strength, smacking Amber and knocking her down.
She was unconscious, but there was barely time to react as Billy began to choke El. Max panicked, her gaze going between her sister and her friend.
Ultimately, with a little help, El won the battle and Billy took off, and the kids got Amber to the hospital. She'd gotten a concussion, now she was down for the count and couldn't even try to help her brother.
The next afternoon, who should stop by Amber's hospital room, but Eddie Munson.
"Um hey, heard you, uh, banged your head up pretty bad..." He muttered, holding a small stuffed bear in his hands.
Amber smiled a little, somewhat surprised to see him. "Yeah, uh... I fell," She wasn't sure if he'd believe that her brother was possessed by a monster from another dimension.
"So, beyond the concussion... you okay?" He asked gently, handing her the small stuffed bear.
"I'll be okay, yeah," Amber nodded gently, taking the bear and gazing at it. It was small, but it was so... thoughtful. "Hey, um... thanks. For coming to see me. That was really sweet of you."
"Well, uh, I was worried about you," Eddie mumbled softly. "Goin' for some USS Butterscotch at Scoops just ain't the same without you there."
Amber giggled a little, smiling at Eddie. She hadn't expected that...
But maybe this was just what she needed to get her mind off things.

2024 Writing Review
I was tagged by @vechter & @androxys; if anyone else wants to participate, consider this your tag!
number of stories posted to ao3: Only 2 this year :/
word count posted for last year: 7,239
fandoms i wrote for: Detective comics
pairings: All gen this year
stories with the most kudos, bookmarks and comment threads: usher down the sky by far.
work i’m most proud of (and why): usher down the sky was in the works in various different iterations for over a year and wound up becoming really, really personal.
work i’m least proud of (and why): some things that fly there be; I wanted to do something way longer with Selina but it didn't really make sense with a pre-Robin Tim. This one was also sitting in my drafts for over a year before I finished it up. But writing Tim in the Robinson Park apartment was really fun!
share or describe a favorite review you received: @vechter and @androxys left such really nice reviews on usher down the sky :) But also a giant thank-you to everyone who's commented on my fics, I know I'm really slow at replying but I appreciate everyone's comments <3
a time when writing was really, really hard: Basically all spring and summer; I was working full time and essentially doing school full-time and this was not conducive for writing (or for having a life 😂). I finished school in August and have had way more time to write since then! You can really tell from my Works tab when I was taking my licensing exams in 2023 and when I went back for my next degree right afterwards. Hoping this year is a whole lot more conducive for writing!
a scene or character you wrote that surprised you: I couldn't get the plot beats to iron out writing from Cassie's POV in usher down the sky; I wound up writing the whole thing from Dick's point of view, and he was a lot harder for me to write for than Cass.
a favourite excerpt of your writing:
The sky behind her is lit up, electric; the city looks like it’s on the edge of a storm, like lightning’s about to burst forth any second, like the atmosphere’s about to bloom into viridescent light any second. “Everybody dies. But not like that,” she says somberly. “And I let them kill. All those people, and I was dead when Blüdhaven needed me.” She reaches out her hand, like she’s trying to grab onto something. “The pit. It felt like burning.” Batgirl looks at him, almost swaying in the drizzle, and he feels flayed by her eyes. “I couldn’t stop them either. Chemo burned too.”
how did you grow as a writer last year: I read a lot of really great books and quite a bit of poetry and I'm hoping my prose is getting better as a result!
how do you hope to grow this year: I want to figure out how to stick to my long-term plotting. Maybe won't be a pipe dream this year!
who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer, beta, cheerleader, etc.): everyone, and especially all my mutuals! For people I haven't thanked yet, thank you @apokoliptic, @zahri-melitor and @jjohnnyutah who've all been in my inbox and interested in my wips! Also thank you @cherrystainedknuckles for your Oracle posting!
anything from your real life show up in your writing last year: Pleading the fifth.
I took photos as a kid like Tim Drake, but I didn't have any camera near as good as his lol.
any new wisdom you can share with other writers: The hardest part is the first draft; you can edit if you have a framework to edit from. Also read, from a huge variety of books; it will give you so many new ideas for phrasing and construction!
any projects you’re looking to starting (or finishing) this year: I am going to finish my Donna and Oracle fics; my goal was to finish them in December but I moved twice and started a new job this week and did the holidays with my family and that might have been a pipe dream; I'm hoping to get them done this month and posted. I might have to split the Donna fic into two chapters, so the Oracle fic is probably going to be done first. I also really really want to finish fireflies this year!

the stobin bathroom scene is literally sacred to me and the scoops troop dynamic is <3 I complain endlessly about how the soviet storyline was implemented but the character side of things is perfect to me...adding in yet another character is so not fun for me bc they are not adding anything particularly interesting usually just sexual tension with Steve and it's usually undermining the dynamics I do care about..ppl should consider adding Eddie to like . j/ncy s3 scenes instead
GODS SAME like... fighting russians under the mall is so incredibly stupid but i love the scoops troop scenes and dynamics SO MUCH. and yeah like whenever people add another character they always want them to get captured with steve and robin (or instead of robin which like i said in my tags.... n o).
like ig there are ways you could add another person if you keep them with erica and dustin (ive done it twice for specific aus that arent published yet) but like not only does it fuck with the stobin dynamic if you have the extra person captured with stobin, but also.... each of them have a door what are you expecting a third person to do?? it makes more sense for if there is a third teen/adult for them to stay and "protect" the kids anyway like you dont need to give them torture trauma too.
its funny bc i really do love the like, actual mall aspects of eddie working at a music store and becoming friends with them/flirting with steve, but i dont need him to then join the scoops troop when the upside down shit comes knocking. i swear people love to use eddie to screw up the stobin dynamic. (another pet peeve is every s3 au where for some reason? robin and eddie are already best friends? and like gang up on steve? like just bc they're queer does not automatically mean they are going to be bffs. its pretty significant to robins character that she also seems to be kind of a loner just like steve.)
and honestly YEAH theres literally three other plotlines going on that you can add characters like eddie or others too? have them get chased and traumatized thru the hospital. have them trying to corral five 14 year olds while they try to capture and then escape a possessed billy hargrove. i think it would be very funny to throw someone in with the jopper group and have them have to fifth wheel jopper and the murray/alexei duos.
hell, make up a hellfire member who has been flayed and that eddie is trying to figure out why theyre acting so weird, and have him follow them to starcourt or st! like some of those people just fucking walked away in the middle of convos during that one scene dfifjgsdigs there are so many fun things people could do to add characters to the group and yall wanna mess with the scoops troop dynamic?
#stobin#scoops troop#platonic stobin#stregoniconiconii#ive added chrissy and barb in scoops troop out of like necessity in aus before bc barb goes thru the vents in the age swap au#but sticks with dustin and erica in when stobin gets captured#and then in cheerleader steve au chrissy is part of scoops troop#but her plot hinges on her being with dustin and erica when they break stobin out lol#its where alll her trauma comes from#conversely in my steve/tommy/carol au carol is a candy striper at the hospital during the flayer attack#and tommy gets essentially kidnapped dustin & steve style by el and max early on in their billy investigation#sorry not to ramble in my own tags but i put wayyy too much thought into my aus to be like how do i get folks involved in s3 WITHOUT FUCKIN#UP STOBIN#asks#fandom wank#i wanna tag this steddie for my organizational purposes but if i put this in the tag someone is gonna be mad at me arent they lol#also sorry if there are a bunch of typos im on my laptop but dont have my contacts in rn

catch up here
Warnings: none really?? Cursing?
Part 8/9
Word count: 2k
Summary: Sometimes things just don’t go as planned and your world just come crashing down, but it’s a good thing that you have people in your life to be there to catch you when you fall.
><
You watched your sister walked into your room so she could try and track down your ex boyfriend, Ms. Drisccol, the Holloway’s and Bruce. The seven of you sat quietly and patiently, waiting for any sort of news.
Nancy was on the phone calling around asking for updates and trying to get a lead, Jonathan was drinking coffee and marking off phone numbers. You carried on a conversation with Will about his new campaign for D&D.
After a while Mike began to get angsty because she ‘shouldn't be in there for that long and that it’s not good for her’. Mike and Max’s conversation slowly turned into an unnecessary argument.
“Can you guys settle an argument for us?” Max asks walking up to you, “Who do you think should decide El’s limits? Mike, or Eleven?” As the two kept arguing you decided to put your two words in and are easily ignored.
While listening to the arguing teens, you hop up from your seat and walk over to the fridge to pull out something easy to snack on like a string cheese stick and some strawberries. But as you go to shut the door Mike says something crazy,
...so can we please just come up with a new plan because I love her and I can’t lose her again.”
You shut the door and turn your head towards him with wide eyes, “Say what now?”
And almost as if on cue El comes walking out the door saying that she found Billy. With Nancy finally off of the phone you take the opportunity to try to call Steve. You called his house and then called ‘Scoops!’, and got no answer.
In the back of your mind you couldn’t help but hope that he was ignoring you and not somehow mixed up in all of this mess, but little did you know that he was being beat senseless in a secret Russian base underground.
><
After letting Eleven cool down from her last session it was time to get back into it. You turned on the television to an empty channel then took your place on the couch next in between Max and Will and watched her put her blindfold on as she went into the void.
This was honestly the last thing you wanted to be doing on the 4th of July, you thought you’d be at the police station begging your dad for some money to go get some cheap fireworks to shoot off into the night for the kids. Maybe even snooping around in your dad's liquor cabinet, to get some goods for you older kids. Yet here you were sitting in silence.
That silence was soon interrupted by Eleven breathing heavily and is obviously in some sort of distress.
“El, are you okay? Are you okay?” Mike finally asks
You don't realize that you're holding your breath until you hear her respond.
“I’m okay” you hear her say weakly
“What’s going on?” you ask
“On a beach.” you all listen as Eleven continues describing a memory of Billy and his mom on a beach in California.
You watch closely as her calm breaths begin to pick up slightly,
“I think I found it, the source.”
“Where El, where are you?” Max pipes up and asks
“Brimborn Steelworks.”
Jonathan runs over to the phone book and looks up the address, it's close by. You told El that she needed to come out of the void so you guys can go. But that’s not what was about to go down.
El put her hands up to her face as if she was going to take the blindfold off of her face, but as soon as she put them up she put them back down. Something was wrong.
“Mike? Y/N?”
Her breath started to pick up once again and that made you start to freak out. You walked back over behind her on the couch and grabbed her shoulders to let her know that you were there but it didn't seem to make a difference.
“No!” she shouted, “Get away!”
She then ripped her blindfold off of her face and screamed making everyone jump. You moved your hands away from her shoulders as she cried and turned to Mike as he reassured her that everything was okay and that she was okay, at least in that moment.
><
As you guys regrouped, you got El some water and pulled a granola bar out of the cabinet, to make sure she ate something to regain some energy, then sat down on the couch next to her. You listened to Mike and Lucas talk about the Mind Flayer and listen to what El has to say about what happened to her, but it’s hard for you to focus. There are so many things in your head that need to be processed, but the main thing you think about is Steve and his safety. The two of you had been through so much and you don’t know what you would do if something happened to him. One thing El says finally catches your attention,
“He also said, he was gonna kill all of you.”
“What? Who?” you ask with your thoughts still stuck on Steve.
“Billy?” Max says but in a ‘are you seriously not paying attention right now’ tone
“Oh. Yeah, well, that’s nice.”
You hear a screeching sound off in the distance, and you see that Nancy hears it too because she gets up and walks towards the window. You hear it again before Nancy asks if anyone else hears it.
“It’s just the fireworks” Jonathan says after a few moments of silence
“Billy,” Nancy says, turning around “When he told you this, it was here, in this room?”
Everyone turns to look at El for an answer hoping that she would say no, but that wasn’t the case.
“He knows we’re here.” Will says.
Jonathan leads you all out of the house and you get a glimpse of something far scarier than a Demogorgan. The next thing you know you’re suddenly preparing for a war that you weren’t expecting to fight in this very moment. You lead Nancy out to your dad’s gun shed behind the cabin to get the essentials. The two of you walk back in the house to see almost all of the windows boarded up or blocked off and all except one door blocked.
Nancy picks up one of the guns you got from the shed and points it at the front door as you all gather in the center of the living room, looking around at every sort of entrance. The next minutes went by in a flash. The Mind Flayer attacked, Nancy shot at it a bunch, until she ran out of ammo and El fought it almost single-handedly. Suddenly the thing grabbed hold of Eleven’s ankle and almost took her away, as it intended to. Luckily Lucas grabbed the ax and took its tentacle, arm thing off and it dropped El.
You saw that the part of the Mind Flayer was still attached to her leg so you took it upon yourself to rip it off causing El to scream out in pain. She took it like a champ and stood up to finish off the creature by splitting it in half. Upon doing so she fell back into Max’s arms, but while you had the chance you wrapped your arm around your sister and helped her run out to the car.
><
While you guys were in the convenience store you got in touch with Dustin on the walkie-talkie and there was a code red situation, most likely meaning that him and Steve had somehow gotten into this mess. Once you guys had gotten Eleven all cleaned up you piled back into the car and headed to the mall where Dustin said that they were from what you could understand.
><
You entered in through the upper level entrance with the help of Lucas’ slingshot, sending a rock to break through one of the doors. You quietly moved around the upper level with no sight of anyone, you then heard someone speaking Russian from the lower level. Walking away from the main group you walk towards the rail that would overlook onto the bottom floor to see where the talking was coming from. You see a bunch of guys walking around and it seemed like they were looking really hard for something. Will notices that you aren’t with the group anymore and they suddenly join you next to the railing.
All of the guards are now focused on one specific area and you can’t help but get this really bad gut feeling. El notices the worry on your face and grabs hold of your hand. You look at her and a look of relief washes over your face.
“I think they might be over there” you whisper to El while pointing at one of The Great Cookie
Eleven nods in acknowledgement, then takes a step forward. She sticks out her arm and focuses on the car next to the guards. The car alarm goes off and that causes all of the guards to turn their attention away from whoever was behind the counter and to the car. They look up to see what’s causing the car to move, but before anyone could do anything El sends the car flying towards them killing them all instantly.
You see not one, but four heads pop up from behind the counter. You’re relieved when you see that one of those four people is Steve.
“Thank fucking God.” you say to yourself but it doesn't go unnoticed. Max nudges you with her elbow cocking an eyebrow at you with her signature smirk. You just roll your eyes and look back down over the ledge.
You see everyone start to head for the non-moving escalators so you follow in pursuit. Once you make it to the bottom of the ‘stairs’ you run directly to Steve and cling onto him like it’s the last time you’d ever see him. He hugs you back with just as much force before you pull away,
“Steve, what happened to your eye?” you ask holding onto his face checking out his face for other injuries.
“You know, evil Russians and what not.”
“The Russians?! Like secret code Russians? Shit”
“Secret code?” you hear Max ask
The next couple of minutes consist of everyone catching up on what's been going on. Learning that Steve, Robin, Erica and Dustin had been stuck down in a Russian underground base for the last 2 days all while you dealt with Billy and the flayed. No wonder he hadn’t been answering the phone.
You all converse back and forth until El collapses to the ground, when asked what was wrong she says that it’s her leg that hurts. Jonathan pulls off the bandages from earlier and reveals her bloody shin, along with something moving inside it. You almost vomit at the sight and have to turn away, Steve reaches out and puts a hand on your shoulder and rubs slightly.
As they were trying to get whatever was in her leg out, El was screaming out in excruciating pain, you couldn’t bear to see her in so much pain.Tears started forming in your eyes, when Steve noticed he held out his arm to you and you bury your face into his chest so you don't have to watch.
Jonathan did as much as he could until it was unbearable for her and she said that she could do it herself. As she was screaming, you turned around to face Eleven after the glass wall from the store behind you shattered all over the floor. You watch as she removes the piece of the Mind Flayer from her leg and sends it flying across the floor. As it tries crawling away a foot comes down and squishes it. You all look up to see who the foot belongs too, and an exhausted smile creeps onto your face, it's none other than your dad, Jim Hopper.

____________________________________________
It's eerily silent. Your heart pounds in your ears, thudding in your chest from the amount of running you had done,
The gentle click of boots cause your eyes to pinch shut, body sinking lower behind the counter you hid at and breaths quickening,
"There you are!" A man, Billy, jumps next to you, grabbing your ankle and jerking you forward so you were forced onto your back, head hitting the tiled floor beneath you,
You gasp in sharply at the pain in your skull, kicking your free leg when Billy pulls you out into the opening, the Mindflayer screeching when spotting you,
"No!" You plea, hands sticking out and reaching for anything, "No, please!"
"It wont hurt," Billy's voice had deepening, pupils expanded with control, "Just as long as you work with me,"
"Let me go!" Your free foot lands at his chest, tears springing in your eyes when his fingers wrap at your other ankle, pinning them down onto the cold flooring littered with glass,
"You cant escape," Billy drops his hands roughly at the sides of your head, leaning down next to your ear, "Billy is gone. And you will be too, soon,"
You hiccup, shaking your head, raising your arm that had grasped a rotted pole, slamming it into the side of his head,
Billy falls back onto his bottom, hand clutching the side of his face, eyes sharpening as they look up at you, jaw clenched,
You sit up, quickly, scooting back into the flipped car, hands out, "Stop! Please! Just-just listen to me,"
Billy crawls forward, teeth grinding against one another, your breaths quick as you sniffle,
"Billy," You start, voice hoarse, "You're name is Billy Hargrove. Youre eighteen (?) Years old and you live with your dad, step mom and step sister,"
Billy pauses, hand hovering over your foot, his eyes meeting yours as your own pinch shut, "We've been together for a year, and two months. You felt insecure of the relationship because you were afraid you would hurt me, but look at you!"
Your eyes open. Billy had retracted his hand, eye's fading normal, sweat glistening on his forehead,
"Y/N," He croaks out, your laugh breaking as you move forward, sinking to your knees in front of him and taking hold of his face, lips meeting his,
The roar of the Mindflayer behind Billy has Billy pulling away, turning sharply and standing up when a tentacle shot forward, his hands easily catching the dangerous piece of the monster,
"Billy!" You shout, screaming and throwing yourself back when two more tentacles lunge out, stabbing at Billys sides,
Your hand flies to your mouth, muffling a silent cry, tears blurring your vision, and for a second, you're glad you can barely see, until the last tentacle pierces Billys chest, dropping his figure limply to the ground,
"No!" You crawl forward, shaking your head, "No! No, Billy!"
Hands wrap at your torso, your scream blocking the voice trying to soothe you as they pull you back, turning you to face away from the bloodied, dead body,
Your hands shove yourself away from the person, eye's meeting Steve's, and, you allow yourself to collapse, Steve running forward to catch you,
"I got you," He slowly drops down to his knees, hand guiding your head to his chest when a rough sob leaves your lips, "Shh, I got you,"
Robin and Dustin run towards the three teenagers, eyes first looking at you and Steve before moving to Billy, placing two and two together,
Your eyes shut in exhaustion, Steve running a hand up your back, eyes looking at Dustin and Robin worriedly,
. . .
"Y/N?" A knock is soft on your door, your eyes leaving your window to look over, "You have some visitors,"
Your eyebrows furrow, sliding off of your bed to follow your mother down stairs and to the living room,
Your footsteps halt, eyes first landing on Max before moving to Steve, Robin, Lucas, Will, Dustin, Mike, and Eleven,
"Guys," You exhale, rubbing your eyes in an attempt to rid their puffiness, "Whatre you doing here?"
"We brought you some of Billys stuff," Max looks down at the box in her arms, "We figured You would want them the most,"
"All of you had to come to bring a box?" You force a laugh, sitting next to Max to open the box and look through,
"We also heard you're moving, too," Steve speaks up, your eyes looking up at him and lips pressing together
"Yeah," You sigh, pulling out Billys jean jacket and sliding it through your arms, "Its not safe here in Hawkins. Mom wants me somewhere quieter, safer,"
"My mom too," Will smiles weakly, as you set the box to the side and embrace Max,
"When do you leave?" Dustin asks, and you pull away from back to set your hands on your knees,
"Tomorrow morning. So you guys had perfect timing,"
"We know that we weren't really close to us until the whole thing with Billy happened, but," Mike frowns, "We're going to miss you,"
"In the time span of us running through a mall or driving around crazy in a car, Im gonna miss you guys too," You stand up, hugging Eleven first, "I dont know what would have happened if you hadnt had gotten to me before hand. I wouldn't have been able to tell Billy goodbye,"
"Promise you'll keep in contact?" Max asks weakly, and you smile, cupping the side of her head,
"How about coming down for Thanksgiving sound?" You grin,
"You can come chill at my place," Robin suggests, "If youre fine with that,"
"Of course I am," You chuckle, "Dont forget about me, nerds,"
"How can we?" Mike snorts, "You fought against Billy Hargrove,"
"Wasnt the first time," You groan, and the laughter from the group makes you smile,
and you realize, with these peopel there for you, Billy wasn't really gone.

120 steve
he’s pampering me, let him be
not a shot for shot scene (bc u know im not a fan), but may hold slight spoilers for those who haven’t finished st3 yet. but it’s kinda an au? idk, but i hope you enjoy lmao
you were getting sick and fucking tired of coming so close to your death. you were far too young to have seen what you had, experience the trauma that had been dished your way, and have to live forever with the knowledge of interdimensional creatures out for blood.
and as you sat now in the starcount food court, with blood caked skin, a throbbing headache and the knowledge of possessions, russian spies and more upside down bullshit, you longed deeply for a time when wondering if steve would like your new lip color was your biggest problem. that’s what mattered, not hoping that you would evade monsters and live to see the next day.
everything just kept happening so fast. in ‘83 it felt like days. in ‘84, weeks. now, you swore you, robin, steve, dustin and erica had been fighting for months, years even. you had to remind yourself continually that it was only friday, and not months in the future. two days ago steve had planned a date for the two of you. nothing fancy, just a movie and burgers at the drive in, but you had been looking forward to it. you had been looking forward to a night off. you were supposed to be swapping spit with your boyfriend in the back of a movie theater, not listening to chief hopper and dustin play rapid catch up on the newest threats.
you gnawed at your thumb nail, letting your mind go blank and take a rest. you weren’t sure when you’d be privy to another calm moment like this. it needed all the time it could get.
you stayed in your blissfully unaware bubble until you felt a tap on your shoulder. thumb still resting on your lips, you glanced up to see one of the men who had come in with hopper looming over you.
when he saw he caught your attention, he shook his hand at you gently. he held a damp handkerchief and was montioning to your blood covered knees.
“oh, um thank you.” you offered a sweet smile as you gingerly took the handkerchief from the man, who grinned when you took it.
he then turned to the other tag along, muttered in words you could now recognized as russian and looked back to you, smile still intact.
“he says to tell him if you need anything else.” the man informed you.
“uh, alright. tell him thank you?” you breathed an uncomfortable laugh as your eyes darted between the two strange men.
“она говорит спсибо.”
she says thank you.
his grin only widened.
“i don’t think i caught your name, either of you.” you looked between both of them again.
“murray bauman,” he extended his hand which you took, “and this is alexei.”
“(y/n) (y/l/n), it’s a pleasure. though, i wish it weren’t under less threatening circumstances.” you said with a charismatic lit to your voice.
murray relied your words in russian as you shook alexei’s hand, who placed his free hand on the back of your hand clasped in his.
“удовольствие все мое.”
the pleasure is mine.
with him still holding you hand, you glanced over to murray, your smile staying put as to not tip alexei off on your slight discomfort.
“he says the pleasure is all his.”
“quite the charmer.” you demurely dipped your head.
“она сказала, что ты очаровательный.”
she says you’re charming.
“она очаровательная.” alexei replied almost instantly, a slight blush dusting his cheeks.
murray chuckled, “he says you’re the charming one.”
“did he flirt with joyce this much?” you prompted, turning back to rid the blood from your knees.
“that was jim’s prerogative.” murray scoffed, and you laughed.
“well, it is nice to know that i am the least bit alluring in this state. i feel like i’ve been hit by a truck.”
alexei’s eyes were ping ponging between you and murray as you spoke out of his native tongue.
“так?“
so?
“она польщена твоим флиртом.”
she is flattered by your flirting.
alexei didn’t reply, but his bashful look said it all.
while you cleaned, alexei flirted and murray translated, steve stood watching it all from a far. his eyes narrowed as he watched you laugh and reply back to whatever murray had just said. the russian asshole he was with was giving you some looks steve didn’t approve of. this green feeling wasn’t unfamiliar territory for steve, but he didn’t think he’d be experiencing it here and now, of all times.
you were naturally appealing and attractive to others, you exuded it. people were drawn to you, adored and worshipped you when your orbit caught them. you couldn’t turn it off, couldn’t push people away, no matter the situation. but right now, steve wished you could.
“aye, what do you think they’re talkin’ about?” steve elbowed robin and tipped his chin over to where you sat.
robin observed the scene for a moment before speaking.
“if i had to guess? russian doctor dude is trying to butter up your girl. i can tell from here he’s flirting hard core.”
steve didn’t need any more encouragement than that to stalk across the food court toward to three of you. when he arrived, steve joined in on the laughter, his obviously forced and angry.
“wow, what’s so funny over here? didn’t think the end of the world would be a laughing matter.” steve practically berated.
“well, we were actually just making light of this situation. we’ve done this before, baby. y’know if we get to in our heads, we crumble.” you reached up to take steve’s hand in yours hoping it would calm him, but his resolve only hardened.
“yeah, yeah, yeah, cool, cool, cool. so, shitbag soviet over here ain’t bothering you?” steve glared daggers into a very confused alexei.
“oh, goodey. another man in this group incapable of expressing their insecurities in a constructive way.” murray chimed in sarcastically.
“the fuck you just say?” steve took a step forward and puffed out his chest at murray’s comment. sadly, only proving murray’s point further.
you quickly turned around to the two men behind you and kept a death grip on your boyfriend’s hand.
“murray, darling. alexei,” he perked up at the mention of his name, “can you both go grab me a cup of ice and something to eat? i’m starved.”
“она попросила лед и еду.” murray relayed.
she asked for ice and food.
“женский мальчик ее разозлил?” alexei asked, worried.
did the feminine boy make her angry?
“нет, что-то говорит мне, что она много занимается этим.” murray snorted a laugh before leading alexei off to find what you requested.
no, i have a feeling she deals with this a lot.
“what? what did they say about me?” steve craned his neck to watch them leave.
“sorry, i didn’t become fluent in russian since the last time i saw you.” you replied.
“well, i know it was about me. commie assholes.” he cursed.
you slapped his leg, “hey! what the hell?”
“those commie assholes are helping us figure this shit out. don’t be an a dick.”
“you’re only saying that because he’s kissing your ass.” steve muttered as he flexed his jaw.
“can’t get mad at him for something you love to do too, harrington.” you shot him a smile.
he looked at you and rolled his eyes, why did your smile have to be so cute? could you stop being so cute for five fucking seconds?
“whatever, it’s still annoying. even robin could tell how thick he was laying it on with you.” steve grimaced, coming to sit next to you.
“he’s pamering me, let him be.” you sighed and rested your temple against his shoulder. as you did, steve slung his arm around you.
“i should be pampering you. not that fuckin’ babushka.” steve brought you closer to him, reveling in your closeness and satiating his protective instinct.
somehow after a day of running from russians, being tortured and sweating from pure fear, you still smelled amazing. god, he hated how perfect you were sometimes.
“let him. let’s me conserve my energy for when i pamper you after this is all over.” you lifted your head briefly to press a kiss to his cheek.
“if we get out of this.”
“we will. this is all gonna work out.”
steve wasn’t so sure. there was still so much that could go wrong. the obstacles were rising and viable plans were dwindling. billy was out there with his army of flayed, ready and waiting to kill them all, and their one weapon was weak and acting faulty. but, steve wasn’t going to let himself be cynical. like you said, you had done this before, side by side and won. so what was a third time? what was the saying? third time’s the charm? he could only hope that applied now.
but in case it didn’t, steve memorized this moment with you. curled to his chest, smelling like fresh air and wild flowers.
feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Fireworks
Pairing: Steve Harrington x reader
Warnings: light swearing, description of injury, s3 spoilers, cheesy fluff :))
Request: (won’t let me tag the requester) I really loved ' the wound ' could you please do something of Steve being really protective of the reader during S3 during the final battle or maybe whilst they are in the Russian base, love you writing 😊😊
Summary: You are Eleven’s sister & have powers too. You assisted in closing the gate, so the Mindflayer wants you, too.
Notes: sorry this took forever and is pretty short but here it is! Decided to go with the battle of Starcourt since I’ve seen quite a bit of people do the Russian base before! I hope you like my little twist on this request!
—
Everything had gone black before you woke up to Billy placing you and El on the cold floor of the Starcourt mall.
He whispered in between both of you in his deep, possessed voice, “Don’t be afraid. It’ll be over soon. Just try and stay... very still.“
Your vision was blurry but you could see the giant creature descend into the mall’s food court. You and El were alert now and began sliding away on the tile as you both saw the tentacle reach out to you from it’s mouth.
All of a sudden, a firework hit the monster. You could hear Lucas shout, “Flay this, you ugly piece of shit!”
As more and more fireworks were thrown at the creature, Billy began heaving over in pain as what was done to the Mind Flayer affected him, too. You took this as your opportunity to get away.
You pushed off the ground and began running as fast as you were able. Your side was aching. You figured you might have broken a rib or gotten a cut of some sort.
You heard the familiar voice of Steve yell, “Hey, asshole! Over here!” As he threw a firework at the enemy.
At the sound of his voice you began running faster to try to get to him.
“Steve! Steve!” You shouted for him.
The second he saw you making your escape from Billy, he slid down the escalators to get to you. When he reached you, he immediately tried to carry you but you screeched in pain, grabbing at your side. Steve then just helped guide you by intertwining your hands and running up the steps of the escalator.
You looked over your shoulder to see Billy dragging your sister back by her feet. You felt so selfish for leaving her there by herself. “Eleven!” You screamed to her so loudly your throat burned. Steve kept pulling you up, although you tried to go back for her.
You relinquished your grasp from Steve’s hand and decided you had to go back to her. You didn’t make it far before Steve’s strong arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you upward toward the second floor.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N), I’m so sorry. But I can’t lose you. I just can’t lose you, baby girl. I’m so sorry...” He whispered as you squirmed and he kept his grasp around you.
Tears flowed down your cheeks as you accepted the fact that you couldn’t go back for her.
As you got up to the second level of the mall, you slid your back against the wall until your bottom hit the floor, crying and trying to catch your breath.
The loud popping of the fireworks continued and blared into your ears. Steve squatted down to your level.
“Baby? Baby girl?! Hey, look at me.” He said cupping your face with his soft hands. “Are you okay?”
You nodded, unable to get out any real words.
Steve’s hands shook as he took in your current distraught state. You had blood oozing from a cut just above your eyebrow and more blood staining your white T-shirt at your side where your main source of pain was coming from. You also had small bruises forming on your forearms.
He didn’t know what to do for you. He felt helpless and conflicted between helping the others or staying with you.
All of a sudden, you heard the young boys.
“We’re almost out!” Will exclaimed.
“I know!” Lucas responded.
Instinctively, Steve grabbed the walkie talkie to communicate to Dustin.
“Dustin, we’re out of time!” Steve screamed into the walkie.
Robin snatched a firework in the basket closest to you and chucked it at the Mind Flayer.
Across the way you could see Jonathan, Nancy, Will, and Lucas all throwing the explosives over the balcony.
Your blood boiled as anger filled you from top to bottom. Adrenaline pumped through your veins and your heart was beating faster and faster. You decided you weren’t going to let him win.
You lifted yourself up off the ground and grabbed the final firework to throw it at the creature that attempted to kill your sister.
“We’re out!” Will screeched out.
“Damn it!” Lucas yelped.
You peered over the balcony in time to see Billy sacrifice himself to save El. Your heart dropped and your hand immediately covered your mouth in shock.
Steve pulled you back from the edge, into his embrace.
You were panting, trying to comprehend everything that had just happened. Sobs continued to involuntarily escape your mouth and Steve stroked your hair.
“Shhh... you’re okay. El’s okay. Everything’s gonna be okay.”
You couldn’t help but melt into him as he continued whispering comforting words into your ear. You felt your tension slowly fade away.
Once you calmed down a bit, you looked up to meet his brown eyes. As you looked into his eyes you felt as though the fireworks that had just popped throughout the mall were now in your stomach, giving you a tingling sensation. He softly smiled at you and you returned the expression. He placed a soft kiss against your forehead.
Your sweet moment was interrupted as the Mind Flayer’s makeshift body came crashing to the ground, shaking the whole mall. You all could hear the helicopters and other vehicles arrive shortly after.
“C’mon baby girl, you need to get some medical attention.” He said, gesturing to your side.
As he turned to guide you out of the mall, you pulled him back to you, giving him a strong and loving kiss.
“Thank you, Steve.” You said to him.
He smiled and replied, “Anything for you, gorgeous. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

Jen reads w/out PANTS on (About the comics character who shoots his author and the math #blerd who might stop him) Episode 2!
Read below to read the text of the story, or listen above, or pre-order Becoming Hero here:With comics: https://www.amazon.com/Becoming-Hero-…Without comics: https://www.amazon.com/Becoming-Hero-… Elsewhere: http://becominghero.ninja*Solve Skye’s math puzzle for a chance to win $100, in every book.* Skye is the storm-tossed comic character out for revenge on the author who murdered his family. Jace is the math-loving#blerd trying to escape his father’s deadly legacy. When their worlds collide, Jace must choose between the real world he’s always hated, and the comic book world he’s always loved–and Skye must decide if killing his author will save his world, or damn his soul. Jace, cont. New guy stood over me hand outstretched, reeking of banana peels and park benches. “Hey,” he said, yanking me to my feet. “I’m Caleb.” “Hey Caleb. I’m Jace.” “Jace, like Jason?” “Yeah, but spelled like the son in the Expanded StarWars Universe, not like the second Robin.” He was the first person I’d met outside of the comics shop who got the reference. “The son of a rogue, instead of the rogue son.” His wicked grin softened. “You okay?” He glanced down at my forearm. I looked, and regretted it. I didn’t think I was frightened by blood. It wasn’t much—just a scratch, just—just—dizziness swept my forehead and my whole body felt weak because holy crap they almost flayed me because of Dad they almost—! I opened my mouth to say nothing. “Is that a no?” he asked. I swallowed. I. Wouldn’t. Make. It. Fun. For. Them. If I wasn’t scared, they couldn’t scare my dad, and they lost. But I wanted them to scare Dad! I wanted to get out of here! Of this stupid neighborhood, and this stupid high school where my stupid teacher who I trusted let slip in class that I even had a dad, and stupid Jerome, and stupid everyone who said I wasn’t “Black enough” because I was a nerd, as if the math in my brain somehow released neurotoxins that killed my melanocytes because that made sense—oh wait, no, it didn’t! It really didn’t! “I’m fine. It’s just a scratch.” I broke my gaze away from it to look Caleb in the face, noticing now the industrial bar piercing his right ear. “Are you hungry? Because after that I could eat a bookshelf.” “Yeah—uh, yeah, I haven’t eaten in a while.” His face colored a little: he meant a very long while. He wasn’t from around here, and he wasn’t dressed well enough to be a lost tourist—not that we got tourists around here on the regs, but hey—so I pegged him as a runaway right away. From where, I wondered? “Why a bookshelf?” he asked. “I like books.” I shrugged, and pulled my hoodie up against his inquiring stare and against the frigid wind tickling my hot cheeks. “Come on. I’ll—I have stuff at home.” And that’s how I chose to bring a violent stranger into my house. 2 JACE My breathing slowed, and the chill began to evaporate my sweat as we passed dingy brush littered with trash, and dead bushes crowded against the alleyway walls, and the yellowing grass that clung to the cracks in the whitish half-paved gravel…we turned onto another street, past the big abandoned red brick building on the corner, and for a second I didn’t hate West Baltimore. I always don’t hate West Baltimore when I pass red brick. There’s a lot of that here: the big factory-looking thing, with its lone chimney jutting into the grey sky like a bold unmoving middle finger thrown up against all the struggle and change and turmoil; the rows of brick apartments huddled side by side like tall, thin soldiers, shoulder to shoulder against the cold, some of them rounded with feminine bulges, towers and buttresses, powerful women in a protest line holding together their neighborhood…all old, old buildings. Sometimes a new mural will go up, or street art that actually means something. That day a black phoenix rose against one of the grey-walled buildings, framed in purple fire. We’d almost reached my dad’s apartment when we passed a different strain of graffiti. This tag was about cops, and my shoulders sagged. I caught Caleb watching my reactions. “What?” he and I asked at the same time. He laughed. I sighed. “You got opinions about that,” he nodded back towards the angry wall-scars. “Mind if I ask what they are?” “Man, I don’t even know,” I said. “My first day out in driving class I got a DWB, with my teacher in the car, withthe car marked Student, and they still made us get out while they patted us down and yelled at me and searched the seats because I ‘fit a description.’ That guy you just whupped, Jerome? His older brother was shot by police who broke into the wrong apartment for a bust.” I paused, wondering if I should really tell Caleb why Jerome hated me. Caleb waited, listening so intently, so openly, I kinda had to: “My dad’s a police officer,” I said. “Ah. So you’re caught in the crossfire.” “There’s no crossfire. I’m minding my own business.” I sealed my lips, and he minded his own, too. Click to Post

I will take any flayed robin au snippet you throw at me I love these things

-
Nancy stumbles past the bikes leaning against the porch. She walks forward until she reaches the end of the driveway. The rain falls in a steady drizzle, plastering her hair to her head. She shivers, wondering if Robin has taken shelter somewhere across town. If she even feels the cold. No, she wouldn’t, would she? He likes it cold.
Where is she now? She’d told Steve Robin was safe from the demodogs—nothing would touch her as long as Vecna still needed her. But what if he doesn’t need her anymore? What if he only wanted her long enough to taunt them, and now that he’s done so—and now that they know she’s flayed—he decides she’s no longer worth hanging onto?
Steve is right—she should’ve chased after Robin. They shouldn’t have left her. If it had been just Nancy out there, she would’ve run after her in a heartbeat.
But it wasn’t just Nancy. It was Steve, and Dustin, and she couldn’t let either of them get hurt, too.
She couldn’t let Vecna take them, too.
She feels a sob catch in her chest and tries to choke it down. She ends up coughing instead, doubling over with her arms wrapped around her torso, trying desperately to hold herself together.
It’s your fault, all your fault. She isn’t sure if it’s her own voice or the memory of Vecna’s in her head. It doesn’t matter. It’s true either way. She fell for Robin—her confident snark, her endearing clumsiness, her awkward yet earnest attempts to make things right. And god, her messy hair, the freckles that dot her face, her soft voice and her beautiful, brilliant mind. Of course Nancy cares about her too much. How can she not?
And it’s not just because Robin listens to her, or because Robin was always there in the aftermath, or even because Robin is in danger and Nancy feels lost and frightened and furious without her. She just—loves her. More than Steve knows, more than any of them know. Maybe even more than Vecna knows, despite him using that very fact against her.
It hits her hard. They don’t know. Hell, Nancy barely understands it herself. It happened so fast. Three weeks of reeling, recovering, rebuilding in whatever ways they could. Three weeks for Nancy to realize that Robin is the person she’s wanted at her side this whole time.
And then Robin started drifting away. Robin hid—Robin was taken—and Nancy tried so hard to be okay with not having her at her side.
Now, she might lose her entirely.
#ronance#this is unedited and was written late at night a few days ago#so if you see any mistakes no you didn't and i'll catch them in editing#(or i won't. it's fanfic. maybe i just can't be bothered)#flayed!robin#excerpts#asks#anon#i'm in a mood tonight so i'm gonna work on this fic and hope that writing angry nancy is cathartic lol

And as always lmk if you wanna be tagged ;p also I’m sorry that there’s no keep reading mark im uploading from my phone at work and don’t know how to put it there. So I’ll just do it when I get home. Xx
catch up here
Warnings: none really?? Cursing?
Part 7/9?
Word count: 2.3k
Summary: Sometimes things just don’t go as planned and your world just come crashing down, but it’s a good thing that you have people in your life to be there to catch you when you fall.
><
You wake up to the sound of your alarm clock going off, signaling that it was time for you to go to work. Rolling over from your stomach you slam your hand down on the noise maker, turning it off.
Not really wanting to get up and go do anything, you lie there in bed for a few extra minutes with your eyes closed. Hoping and praying that today will be a good day.
The thought of working with Steve during your shift makes it a little easier to get out of bed. Finally after procrastinating for what felt like forever you climb out of bed and make your way out of your room.
Upon walking in the kitchen you notice that your dad isn’t asleep on the couch like normal. You walk over to his bedroom door and knock a few times calling out to him. When you receive no answer, you push upon the door to reveal an empty bedroom.
You hum to yourself in annoyance and go to ask the girls if they want breakfast or if they wanna ride to the mall when you head off to work. You’re once again met with silence, so you carry on with your morning.
><
When opening, Steve usually gets there a little bit early, so he can prep everything so before you get there so you aren’t so stressed out. But when you finally get there you notice that all of the lights are still out and the gate is still down, meaning Steve wasn’t there yet.
You lift the gate and go straight to the back to turn the lights on and get ready for the day. After an hour of working alone you start to wonder if Steve was ever going to show up.
‘Maybe he’s just running late..’ you say to yourself quietly and carry on with prepping.
Once it got closer to opening time, and Steve still wasn’t there you decided that it was probably time to give him a call and check on him.
The phone rings and rings and rings a few more times before you hang up and try again. After he doesn’t pick up the second time you call you decide to try Robin.
You call and the phone rings a few times and there’s no answer.
“What the hell?” you say aloud to yourself and you slam the phone back onto the receiver and go back out to the front.
><
After working almost your whole shift on your own you slowly begin to feel overwhelmed.
“I can’t do this all by myself!” you say rather loudly and a few customers turn to look at you but aren’t too bothered by your words.
It was almost closing time anyways, so you did what you needed to do.
You walk over to the window and turn off the ‘OPEN’ sign and go back into the back and start cleaning up while the few people in the store finish eating and leave. As the last customer leaves you run over to the front and pull the gate down before anyone else can wiggle their way into Scoops.
As you walk back into the back room, you start to feel tears form into your eyes due to all of the stress. You brushed them away with the back of your hand and continued cleaning up so you could hurry up and go home.
><
As you were headed to go locked the gate for the evening you thought about what El was up to since she or Max weren't home earlier that morning. You turn around walk back into the back to use the phone to call around and see where they might have ended up.
After a few phone calls you find out that all of the kids along with Nancy and Jonathan are at the Wheeler’s house. But are headed to the Holloway’s house. Instead of going straight home you decide to make an appearance at the Wheeler’s.
><
Just as you pull up to their house they were all walking out of the house and getting into Nancy’s car.
“Hey guys wait up!” you yell as you jog over to the car and climb into the back with Will and Mike.
“So why exactly are we going to the Holloway’s?” you ask as Nancy begins to drive trying to catch up.
“To figure out if Heather and her family are flayed like Billy.” Max says turning around to face you.
“Holy shit..” you say in response.
><
There you are standing in the exact same spot that you were standing in when you broke it off with Billy. You kind of feel bad knowing that the Billy you broke up with wasn’t ‘your’ Billy, but that doesn’t make up for how he had been treating you over the past few weeks.
You wait as Nancy rings the doorbell a few times, then when no one answers El uses her powers to unlock and open the door.
Upon walking in you notice how freezing cold it in and the insane smell of chemicals fills your nose.
“My god, what kind of shits been going on around here?” you ask but mostly to yourself.
You follow as everyone walks into the kitchen, but instead of staying you move on to the dining room.
“Guys!” you say as you notice how the dining room table still has food on it from the other night.
Everyone comes walking through the door and starts examining everything, but notice you crouched down looking at the carpet.
Nancy appears next to you and touches a spot on the carpet,
“Blood” she says softly and turns to look at you before turning to Jonathan.
“Yesterday, Tom had a bandage on his forehead.” Nancy says as you both look at the wine bottle with blood on it. “He was attacked.”
You all walk over to where it looks as if someone had been dragged away and follow the tracks out to the garage where you see the clear signs of someone being kidnapped. After some talking and brainstorming, you all head back out of the house and go to the hospital to somehow get Ms. Driscoll and ‘take her home’.
><
After trying to get everyone upstairs and failing you decide to let Nancy and Jonathan go up to the room and you stay downstairs with the kids. You start to get this feeling that something about being here isn’t right. So you try to figure out a way for you to get upstairs to check on them
It took you a little while, but you finally notice that there is a bathroom down the hall where the elevators are. So you get an idea, and decide to ask where the receptionist where the bathrooms are, you're then on your way upstairs.
As you stepped out of the elevator, you noticed that the hallway was rather empty and awfully quiet. You then saw that some of the lights on patients doors were still flashing red, meaning that there were people who needed to be tended to.
As you carried on down the hallway you heard the sound of running and a loud slam that sounded like someone had slammed a door shut. You sped up and rounded the corner , you saw a man in a white shirt and black pants walking towards the stairwell.
“Hey! Excuse me sir! Is everything okay-” you said but as soon as you started yelling Heather’s father stepped out of one of the rooms and stopped you dead in your tracks as the other man carried on down the stairs.
He had black veins on his forehead, very similar to the veins that covered Billy the previous night in the sauna.
“Oh shit.”
“Oh shit is right gorgeous” Tom says as he starts walking towards you in a quick manner.
You turn on your heels and run the other way, heading back to the elevators. You push the button to close the doors as much and as fast as you can as if that will make the doors close faster. Just as Tom comes into sight the doors finally close and you're headed down to the next floor.
The doors open and you step out to see a dead patient and doctor on the ground, soon after you see Jonathan and Nancy run by followed by the man in the white shirt.
You decide to stay put until you hear the elevator doors close and it starts to move. You followed after the three and heard Nancy calling for help coming from one way and loud bangs followed by groaning coming from the other way. You know that Nancy can handle herself well but decided that Jonathan might need some extra help in that moment.
As you slowly and quietly make your way down the hallway you finally come to the room where Jonathan and Tom were. You almost walked directly into the room but quickly slipped back out of the room and peered your head around the corner to watch.
Tom was standing looking over Jonathan before he picked him up and slammed him up against the wall, making him fall down in pain.
You moved back out of sight and covered your mouth with your hand to prevent yourself from gasping too loudly. Tears formed in your eyes and spilt over before you could even register what was happening. You cried quietly into your hand as you looked around the hall to see if there was anything useful.
‘What would Steve do?’ you thought to yourself.
Eyes darting around the hallway until you see one of the IV carriers and run over to it and pick up holding it upside down so the wheels are the point of contact.
“Yeah, this’ll do.”
You backed up against the wall and tightened your grip around the pole, closing your eyes as you took a deep breath in.
Just as you poked your head into the room Jonathan had his head slammed into the ground, knocking him out. Toms back was to you, so you took this as the opportunity to shoot your shot. You held up the IV pole and swung with all your might.
“Eat shit asshat” you spat at Tom.
He turned to look at you but was flung the other way by some force.
Just as you were getting ready to swing again, Jonathan had gotten up and grabbed the scissors that were on the floor and ran at Tom, stabbing him in the chest. His whole face turned black and because of the veins, and he fell to his knees and onto his chest.
Both you and Jonathan did nothing but look back and forth between each other and the now dead Tom on the floor. Just when you thought it was over, the lights started flashing and went out for a brief second. That never meant anything good.
Jonathan put his arm in front of you out of protection when Tom started moving around and his skin started.. Melting?
“Jonathan..” you felt tears form in your eyes as all of the melted skin started to move towards the door.
He turned and looked at you before slowly following it out the door and into the hallway. At the other end of the hallway you see that Nancy was dealing with the same situation. The two giant globs of human flesh met together in the middle of the hallway joining together to make one giant glob of flesh.
It grew bigger and bigger and started growing legs and making noises when suddenly the lights went out, and from the darkness came a loud screech. Tears were now flowing from your eyes from fear.
“Nancy!” you hear Jonathan scream, “Run!”
As Nancy tries running through a door, the boy next to you is trying to distract the ugly creature from devouring his girlfriend. Yelling and making as much noise as possible, but when that doesn’t work he takes off behind it.
You decide to stay put to make sure no other crazy shit sneaks up behind him. You look around and notice a phone on the wall. While keeping an eye on the direction Jonathan went, you run to the phone and call 911 and the phone rings endlessly.
When you had finally had enough of the phone you figure that it would be better to go downstairs and ask for help. You make a dash for the stairwell and run as fast as your feet can carry you. About a flight or two down you run into the kids who were coming up the stairs.
“Oh thank Jesus” you say as you turn back around and head up to where you just came from.
Running in front of the kids you made quick turns down multiple hallways to show the kids where Jonathan was busy trying to break down the window on a door. El walked up to the door and used her powers to send the door flying into the room.
“Jesus”
“What the fu-” you hear both Mike and Max say simultaneously.
El and the monster have a little battle which ends up with the Monster being sent flying out the window and onto the ground outside.
You and the kids run back and down the stairs to go outside to see what was going to happen to the monster, while Jonathan went in the room to check on Nancy. Once you all got outside the glob was making its way to the sewer drain, before disappearing. You turned to look at the others,
“What in the actual fuck?”
What you did know was that this could only the beginning.

Crashing Down
(steve harrington x hopper!reader / billy hargrove x hopper!reader)
I called in sick to work yesterdayyyy- so that means you guys get a piece of this story! Yay I tried outlining the chapter last night and I think it worked. I’ve got all my thoughts together and in order?? This chapter is gonna be kinda crappy- just because I can’t really figure out how to approach the next couple of episodes. Bleh anyways enjoy. :)) ALRIGHT Update @ 12:47am.. I started working on this at like 2 pm? Ahaha but I honestly did NOT think that I had this much material in my head for this episode like ?? ALSO i think there is only gonna be like 3 parts left i think :( but anyway kjsfhdsufhdfj- if you wanna be tagged just lmk <3
catch up here
Warnings: Angst, angst and MORE angst
Part 6/9?
Word count: 2.2k
Summery: Sometimes things just don’t go as planned and your world just come crashing down, but it’s a good thing that you have people in your life to be there to catch you when you fall.
><
Upon arriving at home, ice cream in hand, you kicked off your shoes. Before going to the couch you stopped in the kitchen and grabbed the bottle of whiskey that was on the counter.
You plop down on the couch and get comfortable, grabbing the remote off of the side table you turn the TV. You spend the night watching whatever comes on the small box at the front of your room, overindulging in ice cream and whiskey, knowing damn well you’ll wake up with a hangover in the morning.
The sound of a car engine and headlights wakes you up from your sleep causing you to groan in annoyance. You get up and go over to the window to see none other than Joyce carrying your dad out of her car.
You open the door and run down the steps of the cabin to the car to offer some help. Once you guys get Hopper settled in on the couch, she starts to tell you about everything that has happened to them. How her magnets have been falling off of the fridge and that there might be a giant magnetic machine that’s causing them to fall off of her fridge and how she thinks that it’s all related to the lab.
“Wait a minute, the lab? As in Hawkins Lab? I thought they closed everything off, and filled all the holes and what not.”
“They did, all of the holes are filled. But we were sitting there, just talking and then everything just happened so fast and all at once. Someone else was there, trying to prevent us from snooping around.. It’s like they were..”
“Hiding something..” you finished her sentence deep in thought. You were thinking about everything that has been happening recently.
Dustin, Robin and Steve intercepting a ‘Secret Russian code?’, El sensing that something was wrong with Billy, and now this? Was it all tied together?
“And then your dad, of course had to go do something about it and got into this fight with some guy riding a motorcycle. So I uh, brought him back here to fix him up.”
You nodded your head and let her do her thing and work on hopper, cleaning the gash on his head and making sure he didn’t puke anywhere or anything. So with that you went to your room and fell asleep with ease, thanks to the alcohol.
><
The house was quiet, except for the phone ringing off the hook. Who ever they were had been calling for the last 30 minutes and weren’t giving up. You would think that they would get the hint.
You rush out of your room to answer the phone with annoyance,
“Can I help you?” you ask rather loudly
“Y/N, This is Mike. Something happened, something bad. Our lives could be at stake.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Go get El and Max, they turned off their walkies. Just come over to my house and we’ll explain everything.”
“What?”
“Hurry.”
And then the line goes dead. You figured that this probable was extremely important, connecting all of the dots from last night. You jump in the shower, throw some clothes on and head to Max’s house to pick up the girls.
><
Once you got to the Wheeler’s house, Will tells you all that he had been having bad feelings recently. You sit there and listen to them all talk about it. About the Mind Flayer.
“I’ve felt it before, whenever he was close.”
Max obviously seems confused, “Whenever who is close?”
“The Mind Flayer.” You say with a dazed look on your face, thinking about everything that has happened in the last two years. You shake your head to try to get rid of the thoughts and tune back in to their conversation.
But you just can’t seem to focus on anything, they then start talking about the Mind Flayer attaching itself to someone, and how you can tell if someone is a host. El and Max give each other a knowing look. You look at the two with an arched eyebrow but face filled with worry.
“You don’t think it’s..”
><
The next thing you know you’re all piling into your truck and headed to the pool, once again.
The kids pile out of the truck and start talking about Billy and how he looks normal but not normal enough. The boys run off and go into the men’s locker room to talk about who knows what. But they come out and tell you their plan.
The plan was to get Billy into the sauna, trap him in there, and blast the heat to see if anything happens. It was a scary concept but it would get you the information you needed to know.
As much of an asshole as Billy had been over the last few days- no weeks, you really hoped that it wasn’t him.
While the others were gathering some supplies, you and Max stood at the car to watch Billy.
“Max, can I ask you something?”
“Yeah, of course.” she said while using the binoculars to look at Billy.
“Do you think that this is just one big sign? I mean he’s been kind of asshole-ish recently and hasn’t really wanted to be around me as much. I mean even before all of this Mind Flayer stuff.”
She just kind of stood there staring off at Billy, and she shrugged.
“It could be, he’s always been a grade A asshole to me so I don’t know. You know I love you a lot, and you’re the older sister I’ve never had, but I’ve always thought you deserved better. You deserve someone who’s gonna make time to see you, to spend time with you. To make you feel like you’re good enough, someone who’s always gonna take care of you. To be there for you with open arms and to make you laugh harder than your stomach can handle.” she says finally turning to look to you with this sort of ‘all knowing’ look in her eyes and a smirk on her face, “Maybe someone who has a big heart, 6 kids and a head full of floppy of brown hair?”
You blush as roll your eyes and cross your arms, sending a glare her way.
“Max, it’s not like that. He’s my best friend, that’s it.”
“That’s what your mouth says.” she says with the same smirk on her face.
You nudge her with your elbow and she goes back to looking at Billy through the binoculars,
“God I hope it’s not you, I really hope it’s not you.”
><
Later that night, after everything was set up in place, it was time to initiate, the ‘Sauna Test’. The six of you stood behind a wall waiting for everything to fall into place, and boy was it a scary time. You hear Mike taunting him and Billy does not seem enthused about it.
When Billy walks into the sauna, El walks out right behind him. She sends him flying into the wall and slams the door closed with her powers. The boys put the locks and restraints on the door and you all stand in a group away from the door.
“Do it” Max says
They turn the heat on and Billy starts freaking out and yelling, then the next thing you know he’s on the floor crying pleading for help and saying that its not his fault. Max goes to walk up towards the door, but you hold an arm out in front of her so she can’t go.
Instead, you walk up to the door.
“What’s not your fault Billy?”
“I’ve done things Y/N, really bad things. I don’t mean to, he made me do it.”
“Who did baby? Who made you do it?”
Seeing Billy in this kind of state made your heart break, it wasn't very often that you got to see this vulnerable side of him. Tears started forming in your eyes.
“I don’t know, it’s like a shadow. A giant shadow. Please babe.”
Max then appears next to you looking in at her older brother.
“What did he make you do?”
“It’s not my fault, okay? Max please!” he cries out in what seemed like pain.
You look over to Max who had tears streaming down her face. She doesn’t deserve to be seeing this, you wrap an arm around her and pull her in close. She tries reassuring him that everything is gonna be okay and that he needs to just talk to us and we can get it all worked out.
“Guys, get away from the door” you hear from behind you
“What?” you say in confusion
“GET AWAY FROM THE DOOR!” Mike yells as Billy smashed his head through the glass of the sauna door.
You push Max away as Billy grips onto your wrist and starts twisting.
“LET ME OUT YOU BITCH! LET ME OUT!”
As he finished that sentence Lucas launches a rock, hitting billy in the forehead sending him back to the ground. The two of you scurry back over to the rest of the group as all of the lights start flashing. Similar to how the lights were flashing at the Byers’ house a few years prior, while fighting the demogorgon with Steve, Nancy and Jonathan.
“Guys, this isn’t good, this really isn’t good..”
You hear Billy yell, and you all turn back to face him and he’s got black veins covering his entire body. You stood in front of the 5 teens, in hopes to try to protect them if necessary.
Billy suddenly broke down the door and came tumbling onto the ground in front of you. You stuck your arms out to the side and push the kids back behind you as far as you could in those short seconds. El then pushed around your side and took her place in between you and Billy.
Using her powers, she lifted one of the weights in the room and sent it and Billy flying into the wall behind them. Hoping to maybe choke him out, but the Flayed Billy was stronger than her powers.
He pushed the bar away and walked over to El, who was now on the floor. He grabbed her hair and yanked her up then picked her up by her throat, choking her.
“BILLY NO! LET GO OF MY SISTER YOU ASSHOLE!” you yelled with all your might as you slammed into him trying to knock him out of the way and maybe drop your sister. Which worked for the most part but was now focused on you. Mike had run over to El to help her back up onto her feet.
You turned around to grab the pole that was holding the door in place, and went to swing at Billy but he grabbed it and sent it flying across the room almost hitting Will, Max and Lucas. Who were all watching with scared eyes.
Billy started walking towards you and had you backed into the corner of the room when he suddenly was levitating in the air. El walked around him to stand in front of you and screamed as she send Billy through the wall.
She then collapsed into your arms and began crying out of pure exhaustion.
“Hey, hey, hey sh sh sh. It’s okay, you’re okay.” You said while rubbing her head and holding her tight against you.
Mike and Lucas comes over to the two of you and help you up off of the ground. You then walk over to the hole in the wall where Billy had just gone through and look out in horror.
“What the hell.”
><
You all pile back up in the truck and take all of the boys back to the Wheeler’s and then take the girls back to the cabin. Once you pulled into the drive way your heart started beating really fast and you felt like your couldn’t breathe, you then instantly broke down into tears. Max and El looked at each other then looked at you with worried eyes.
“I’m fine, I’m fine.” you say wiping your eyes as you get out of the car.
You walk in the cabin and came crashing down onto the couch face down, letting out a loud groan. Panic attacks at its finest.
“I wish Steve was here” you say into the couch, your voice muffled by the cushions, not thinking about the girls still being in the room. There’s a long pause,
“He’d know what to do..” another pause, followed by a sigh.
“Tomorrow will be better. I work with Steve and he’ll keep my mind off of things, he always does.”
El and max give each other a look and small smiles fall onto their faces. Every one knew, except you.

Skye is the storm-tossed comic character out for revenge on the author who murdered his family. Jace is the math-loving #blerd trying to escape his father’s deadly legacy.
“I’m Caleb.”
“Hey Caleb. I’m Jace.”
“Jace, like Jason?”
“Yeah, but spelled like the son in the Expanded StarWars Universe, not like the second Robin.”
He was the first person I’d met outside of the comics shop who got the reference.
Because after that I could eat a bookshelf.”
“Yeah—uh, yeah, I haven’t eaten in a while.” His face colored a little: he meant a very long while.
“Come on. I’ll—I have stuff at home.”
And that’s how I chose to bring a violent stranger into my house.
2
JACE
My breathing slowed, and the chill began to evaporate my sweat as we passed dingy brush littered with trash, and dead bushes crowded against the alleyway walls, and the yellowing grass that clung to the cracks in the whitish half-paved gravel…we turned onto another street, past the big abandoned red brick building on the corner, and for a second I didn’t hate West Baltimore.
“Mind if I ask what they are?”
“Man, I don’t even know,” I said. “My first day out in driving class I got a DWB, with my teacher in the car, with the car marked Student, and they still made us get out while they patted us down and yelled at me and searched the seats because I ‘fit a description.’ That guy you just whupped, Jerome? His older brother was shot by police who broke into the wrong apartment for a bust.” I paused, wondering if I should really tell Caleb why Jerome hated me. Caleb waited, listening so intently, so openly, I kinda had to: “My dad’s a police officer,” I said.
“Ah. So you’re caught in the crossfire.”
“There’s no crossfire. I’m minding my own business.” I sealed my lips, and he minded his own, too.
